As it's Timeless' 7th birthday, I decided to start a(nother) rewatch today 😁

Pilot: interesting time-travel premise and opening ep.

I didn't (and still don't) find it one of the strongest eps in S1, it's a little run-of-the-mill until we get to the last Hindenburg section as seen in the above gif.

The instant chemistry between Lucy and Flynn and the intriguing chat about her diary grabbed me by the throat and pulled me in.

Also the twist at the end for Lucy!

I also took an instant liking to Rufus and an instant dislike/distrust of Mason and Denise. I wish we'd seen more of Stiv too.

It does always grate on me as to how dismissive Lucy and Wyatt are of the casual racism of the 30s towards Rufus in this ep, they don't really seem to notice and certainly don't acknowledge it!

I would also like to thank the costume dept for putting Goran Višnjić in a tank top for one scene ❤️ they sure knew what they were doing with his wardrobe in this show 😁

Phil Marcade of The Senders with Stiv Bators of The Dead Boys, as captured  by Eileen Polk back in 1978.

“Landing in the middle of the NYC punk scene, Marcade is introduced to former boxer Steve Shevlin by Johnny Thunders. In 1976, he and Shevlin form The Senders — a raw and dirty rock and roll band, with a rockabilly/blues mix and a punk sensibility. Peter Crowley, former Music and Art Director of Max’s Kansas City, recalled, “The Senders should have been huge. They had it all: looks, chops, and excellent rock ‘n roll taste.” With Shevlin on bass, Marcade was the band’s original drummer, but moved to frontman, and, by 1978, the lineup included guitarist Billy “Wild Bill” Thompson and drummer Marc Bourset, with Danny Ray often joining them on saxophone.

Although the band never reached the heights it should have, nobody can doubt their longevity. In 1981, as Marcade writes, “All that was left of The Senders was one deaf guy [Shevlin had lost his hearing], one in the nuthouse, and two in the dope house.” They played what they thought was their final gig at The Peppermint Lounge.

In 1989, Marcade received a call from a record company asking if The Senders could be put back together. With Ritchie Lure replacing Shevlin, and the other three back on track, they played for another 13 years.
