Disney Zombies Is Beautiful
I don’t know about you but I love this movie. It seems to take place in a time like ours where people are not accepted for who they are or the different species.
There are three movies. First is accepting zombies, second is accepting werewolves, and third is accepting aliens. Addison is one of the main characters who is mixed and doesn’t fit into any specific species. This is talking about racism in a way. There are underlining different sexualities and beliefs.
In the end of each movie the new species is accepted and Addison understands she is a part of everyone. It has underlining police brutality as well. All things that are important in our world now. The last one talks about the aliens coming to get help to find a new home because they destroyed theirs because no one did anything about the climate change there.
I believe that the first movie is about segregation of black and whites(zombies vs humans), the second movie is about the native Americans angry that other stole their lands and their heritage(werewolves and their moonstone), and the third is about people of today being upset about people from Mexico and other countries that they don’t trust and are scared of(ie the aliens). But these people come here because their own homes are in turmoil. We should all get along no matter what and understand others situations. The third one also helps us understand that the aliens came from another world that was destroyed due to climate change the the inhabitants destroying their own planet due to not fighting to keep it alive because they didn’t want to fight each other and wanted harmony.
Main teaching moment: Overcome our differences and together we can make progress. Conflict isn’t always bad. Being challenged can push us to be better. It can change the world.
I’ve my kids watching these movies for these lessons.

Racism Overview (Issue Explortation)
Racism is a significant issue that has been at the forefront of many major news outlets amid much political and racial divide in recent years. After the killing of George Floyd on May 25th, 2020, it ignited a significant movement towards reform in police practices as it became apparent how dangerous some police officers’s sense of judgment is. This point in time was very dark for everyone living in the country as we all witnessed how much in a state of anarchy everything has become in light of the riots and looting. As well as showing some of the economic disadvantages many African Americans faced during the times of the pandemic.
This is not to say that racial equality has not come long. Before the 1960s, African Americans were heavily segregated and just looked down upon altogether; they did not have any voice and were helpless when faced with blatant police brutality and racism. Before Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, African Americans were segregated when it came to certain public places. Whether it was a bathroom or school, it was common for the conditions to be deplorable.
Before 1965, African Americans were barred from voting, which heavily impacted their ability to advocate for political as well as social change. This was brought about by several other important figures in the desegregation of the 1960s, such as Martin Luther King and Malcolm X. All social movements must have a face put to them, and this was Martin Luther King in the eyes of all Americans. This was the greatest time of social change that African Americans saw since the freeing of the slaves, which isn’t saying much.
Shortly after this, in 1968, Martin Luther King was shot in a motel by a radical white supremacist. This set the tone for the social divide many Americans still face today when dealing with racial profiling, healthcare, employment, and overall opportunities. Recently, we have seen far more people being held accountable for racist actions, whether it be in the past or present. Something as simple as a racial joke has been responsible for the downfall of many once-successful figures, which is a long way in racial awareness. Though there is still much work to be done…

"Embrace Every Shade" is a campaign that I am passionately spearheading to promote acceptance, respect, and love for all skin tones. My objective is to challenge and dismantle the barriers of colorism and skin tone bias that persist in our society. With a particular focus on the younger generation, who are often influenced by societal standards and media portrayals, I aim to spread the message loud and clear: "Every skin tone is beautiful. Embrace every shade."
My campaign will encompass various strategies and activities. I will kickstart a social media challenge, encouraging individuals to proudly share photos of themselves, celebrating their unique skin tones and sharing personal stories and experiences related to their skin color, using the hashtag #EmbraceEveryShade. Additionally, I will collaborate with influencers from diverse backgrounds, empowering them to share their own stories and experiences related to skin color, amplifying the campaign's reach and inspiring their followers to join the movement.
Tumblr media
Education will be a key component of the campaign. I will provide informative content about the science of skin color, the historical and societal impact of colorism, and the significance of skin health regardless of color. To foster meaningful dialogue and understanding, I will organize community events such as webinars, panel discussions, and workshops focused on colorism, self-love, and acceptance.
To engage the creative talents within our community, I will host an art contest where participants can showcase their artistic expressions that celebrate the beauty of different skin tones. The winning pieces will be prominently featured in campaign materials, further promoting the message of embracing every shade.
Tumblr media
Throughout the campaign, I will closely monitor its impact and success. This will involve tracking the number of social media posts, engagement with the campaign hashtag, feedback from influencers, and participation in community events. Additionally, I will conduct surveys to gauge changes in attitudes and awareness surrounding skin color acceptance.
"Embrace Every Shade" is not just a campaign; it is a movement towards a more inclusive and accepting society. I am committed to fostering a positive and respectful dialogue about the beauty of every skin tone, and I invite everyone to join me on this empowering journey.

Wk 1: Creative Practice and Critical Thinking
Tumblr media
Critical thinking is the ability to clearly and logically consider information that is presented to us. Creative thinking is about generating new, novel, or useful ideas. The Modern stucture of society is rampent today, so I've chosen to utilise it as my social issues topic. Cultural values in a society are so ingrained in daily life that they are seen as “the way things are.” Personally, I have experienced racism multiple times. At times, I feel that racism awareness aren't being spread and that matters aren't being addressed. At that point, my feelings were being invalidated, and I wanted no one to feel how I felt and what I went through. If I were to think creatively I feel that each of us has a role to play in spreading awareness, not being a bystander, and standing up against racism. The subject of creative practice and critical thinking was the most helpful to me.  In the past I believed that I shouldn't have an opinion or express my opinions. But now I feel more at ease speaking my mind when I can hear what my classmates have to say regarding their perspectives on social issues. There’s a quote I stumbled upon ‘none of us are equal until all of us are equal’, it's about speaking up rather than standing by in silence. I also can play my part by not staying when someone is being treated unfairly. I think all of us can do our part to spread awareness. ( 249 words)
