As I always say, Taiji driving hunting is the unethical and barbaric hunt that ruthlessly kills even the mother and babies of wild dolphins. Cetaceans are higher mammals that give birth only once every few years, and artificial breeding is extremely difficult, but TAIJI exterminates them in their entire pods. They’ve been doing that since 1969. Are aquariums for species preservation? The contradiction of capturing wild dolphins/small whales alive for sale there, and almost annihilating unneeded pod families, stems from the insistence that “It’s the hunting for meat” despite the fact that there is little demand. Japanese people who did not know about Taiji dolphin hunting, which has been hidden for a long long time, have gradually begun to learn about it through social media since two years ago. A common and very heated debate. Are you “pro-cap” or “anti-cap.” The answer is, I’m both. #procap #anticap How? I believe the best place for animals as amazing and graceful as dolphins and orcas belong in the sea. But so many have been taken and brought to facilities to live that many generations have been born in captivity now. Rehab and release could happen but possibly not for the best of these animals. #captivity gives us the unique position to monitor health, behavior, and growth in a controlled environment. What we can learn in this environment can possibly tell us a lot about their wild cousins that could perhaps be used to help save them. Maybe we can use this to help save the #southernresidents that are currently starving to death. That being said, since we have taken it upon ourselves to be the caretakers for these magnificent creatures we have a duty and responsibility to ensure they receive the best care and facilities possible. Some places are adequate. And some are shameful. #freelolita I am also 100% against any further capture of dolphins or whales. Em Wakayama, 30 baleias com cabeça de melão podem ser abatidas, enquanto em Okinawa, 13 golfinhos de dentes grosseiros e 60 baleias de cabeças de melão são permitidos através desse método. Incluindo tanto o arpão manual quanto a caça ao disco, um total de 33 dentes grosseiros e 190 baleias com cabeça de melão foram adicionados à quota geral de pequenos cetáceos no Japão.
