you know in booktok when people say ‘*author* basically raised me’ ?? well i have that, but its kinda weird. obviously rick riordan, cause his books were the ones that made me realize how much i loved reading. then chris colfer, cause he’s a genius and when i read them for the first time i just fell for every single character. little me who loved disney movies loved tlos just as much. then there’s james riley, and that’s the weird thing. i never read one of his books completely. i read the first 100 pages of half upon a time but i never finished it. and i started story thieves but also dropped it. and somehow, still, i feel such a connection to his books and the way he writes. i used to reread story thieves all the time, but i have never read the end. never. and i have no idea why. i just dropped it every time.

I know Fowen changed his clothes to match Owen before they switched bodies, but if he hadn’t then Owen would’ve been wearing Kiel’s clothes when he confronted and defeated nobody which would’ve been such a cool parallel to book 1 Owen who pretended to be Kiel because he felt like he couldn’t be a hero or save anyone if he was just himself. It would’ve been like coming full circle. Owen realizes he can be a hero by being himself but with a nod to where he started.

Trans man living in 50’s Japan with a mysterious background who within like a chapter of meeting him burns down the other MC’s apartment to incentivize him to work with him and like, does not even try to hide it but succeeds anyway. Cannot be summed up there’s seriously no way I can do him justice here. He’s everything

I love the Story Thieves books so much you guys literally don't get it

This is basically little me going thru the books for the first time:

Book 1: Imma be honest, barely remember it and it is the one I reread the least. But it had such a huge impact on me.Being able to go in and out of my favourite books??? Why wasn't I half fictional too??? WHO IS THIS NOBODY GUY??! I wanna be Kiel Gnomenfoot too, he seems to have a cool life, no fair!!! I want to meet Charm. I need Charm. Wait- no, no way, Owen isn't going to really- HE'S ACTUALLY GIVING UP HIS HEART WHAT@??@

And sometimes, to this day still, I would see a random book on display at a bookstore and go "Wait a fuck damn minute- THIS WAS IN THE STORY THIEVES WASNT IT???"
