Wayne was always suspicious about girls that were around Eddie
They always have been taking advantage of his boy like weed discounts or making fun of him when he wasn't around. So every time he saw you in a trailer he was worried and tense.
Usually he had night shifts but even though he felt your presence at his home. For example there were flowers on a table, everything was much more cleaner than ever or he's been seeing home-made meals in a fridge. Both of you even talked a few times and you always made more food so he could have a portion. But still was cautious about you.
But one day everything changed.
He was sleeping on a couch and woke up because of argument in hushed voices.
- Eddie, we've talked about it.
- But baby I really don't wanna do this please.
In Wayne's mind there was an loud alarm about what you could make his boy do.
- Eddie, I really don't like to repeat myself.
- Ahh, okay okay.
Wayne opened his eyes and saw his boy putting on a hat on his head probably first time ever.
- See, you look so pretty and you're not gonna be sick babe - you said kissing Eddie's nose.
And since that day he started to warm to you because no one ever was worried about his kiddo and taking care of him besides Wayne.
Although he was kinda scared of your powers because it was impossible to convince Eddie to put a hat on. It wasn't metal enough for him and he always complains how stupid he looks with a hat on.

y'all I need one just give me ONE post canon fic where Eddie goes to bug Steve during one of his Family Video shifts and they're talking, chilling, shooting the shit and Eddie jokingly asks to see their porn selection in the back
and Steve clutches his pearls, all loud dramatic gasps and heart over his chest, looking at Eddie like a scandalized suburban W.A.S.P. mom just like "Edward! This is a Family Video store" in a very "why, I never" tone of voice - before it's all immediately wiped away by a shit eating grin and he's like "of course we have porn in the back, what kind do you want"
and Eddie's just joking but hey if they actually have some, Eddie's down (but only if Steve watches it with him 😉)
(very important to know: half the "porn" in the back is just Jane Fonda exercise tapes and ALL of it is Keith's secret porn stash he keeps at the store so his mom, whom he still lives with, doesn't see it. Steve and Robin discovered it on accident one day while cleaning out the back room and they decided to rent out "Adult Films" to some clients at double the cost of regular rentals, with Steve and Robin pocketing the extra cash, promising each client who rents the "Adult Films" that this info won't show up in their accounts; and it doesn't. but! Robin and Steve do keep a little notebook in. the back where they keep track of who rents what porn disk, when, for how long, and how much they make, etc. Steve tells Eddie all of this, to which Eddie raises concerns about privacy. to which Steve reminds Eddie that even tho he's been exonerated, he's still Public Enemy Number #1 and can/should use this blackmail info if the need arrives
Keith, of course, has no idea about any of this.)

Eddie may be selling weed and ketamine to high schoolers out of a lunch box but you know DAMN well Wayne Munson makes sure he says his "yes, ma'ams" and his "no, sirs" because you live under my roof, damnit and you'll be a gentleman if I have to tattoo it to your forehead

I think it’d be really great, personally, if Steve one day dressed like he used to just to fuck with everyone, only for Eddie to absolutely love it.
I’m talking the ridiculously high and over-gelled hair, super preppy shirt with a little preppy collar, and khakis. The whole suburban goodie-goodie ‘I’ll have your daughter home by 8′ experience. The King Steve™ chic.
The kids all howl when they see him. Dustin pretends to gag. Max asks if Steve lost a bet. Mike appears seconds from a breakdown, because the last time he saw Steve like this was when he was dating his sister, and lord help him if that headache returns to his life. It’s pure pandemonium. Robin cracking joke after joke between her loud, wheezy laughs doesn’t help, either.
The only one who seems to be without a snarky comment is Eddie, because while he does agree with the peanut gallery that this version of Steve looks way-too-stuffy and borderline dorky, it’s also the version he originally fell for. He watched this Steve command the halls of Hawkins High and pined after him with reckless teenage abandon. He grew up knowing nothing ever could possibly happen between him and someone dressed like that, but still secretly dreaming about it when pre-calc got too confusing or Gareth’s rants about his little sister ventured into boring territory. This Steve had hooked Eddie from the start. This Steve had been his teenage dream.
So, when Steve saunters up to Eddie in his khakis and stuffy shirt, gazing up at him with the tender eyes of the newer, softer, caring Steve Eddie’s come to know and secretly love, asking for his opinion? Well, Eddie doesn’t quite feel like keeping his feelings secret anymore. Instead of commenting on his clothes, Eddie chooses to rumple them in his fist and pull Steve impossibly close to plant the very same passionate kiss he dreamed of delivering in high school to his lips.
Imagine Eddie’s delight when, soon after, he finds the new Steve, his Steve, smiling back as if the kiss were his high school dream, too.

one thing i see the stranger things fandom forget so often is that robin is actually crazy smart. like, she knows four languages. she seems to be plenty well-acquainted with movies, as she proves over and over while working at family video. she's been in band as long as she's been in high school, and maybe even before that. i'm just shocked that we as a whole haven't taken total advantage of these traits in fanfiction. imagine her working a tutoring job on the weekends for extra cash. walking home from school, headphones on and language tape rolling as she mouths the new words. blabbing to nancy about a book she stayed up all night finishing, all to slip her annotated copy into nancy's tote when she's not looking. seriously. where are my ronance study dates. where are robin's sticker-covered flashcards.

So I know we all talk about Eddie being Steve’s bisexual awakening, but hear me out -
Eddie Munson was Mike Wheeler’s bisexual awakening
Like Mike definitely has a stupid teenage crush on his dm and Dustin and Lucas keep trying to tell him it’s ok and Mike will just be like “Oh my god! What? No! I just think he’s really cool, I don’t have a crush on Eddie Munson!”

you'd be lying if you said you didn't enjoy living with steve; yeah, sure he was loud, he was annoying and you found yourself cleaning up after him on a regular basis, but he was a decent dormmate.
honestly, you were filled with anxiety when you first got told you'd be co-existing with steve-fucking-harrington for your first year of college. your entire high school career, he'd been the popular kid, extremely unaware of how he actually treated every other 'normal' person who just wanted to speed through their schooling years with good grades and then completely disappear from that shit-hole of a town.
but it turns out, he's not the super cool kid everyone jacked him up to be. if anything, he was a moron, a big clutz that could yap for hours on end if you let him.
but like i'd previously said; he was annoying. he was a pain in the ass a lot of the time. noisy at stupid hours in the morning. constantly distracting you when you're trying to study. loud conversations with whichever one-week girlfriend he had. always bickering with you over simple things like what's on the tv, whose chocolate is that in the fridge or how long each of you takes in the bathroom.
yet, amongst all that, there was still room in your heart to have a tiny little crush on him. which when you thought about it, was ridiculous, because you wouldn't even consider each other friends.
however, last night, you had a kind of big argument. it all started when you were trying to study and he was doing nothing but get on your nerves, purposefully trying to distract you all night, despite your constant pleading for him to stop because you had a big test coming up and you didn't want to fail.
somehow it led to him saying you were boring and stubborn, that all your studying is never going to guarantee you a ticket out of hawkin's after you graduate. and even after all that, he still managed to slip in that you have nothing going for you but your 'mediocre' intelligence and that's why you have never had many friends your entire life. which hurt. it hurt a lot.
big jerk, high school steve had suddenly made an appearance back in the room.
and to which, you responded by saying that it's not your fault he doesn't care about his academic achievements and that he'll be stuck in a dead-end job being a disappointment his entire life because all he cares about is getting his dick wet, and nothing else. which hurt him equally as much as he hurt you.
you hadn't spoken since, and just like steve had said; you're stubborn; so you didn't really plan to. thankfully, steve had early lessons today, whereas you had late ones so your paths had yet to meet. but you'd be lying if you said you weren't anxious about going back home after your 7pm lecture finished.
eventually that time arrived, and you were unlocking your front door, praying to whoever was up there in the clouds that steve was in his room so you could slip in and lock yourself away for the night.
little did you know, since he knew you were gonna have late lessons, he invited over a girl he'd been speaking to for.. what was it? literally less than a day.. to do 'certain' fun activities with. and steve thought this said girl would be able to slip out before you even arrived home, so you can imagine the shock on his face when he saw you standing in the doorway as he was kissing this girl goodbye.
you scoff a little at the sight. he was completely proving the point you made last night. he doesn't care about anything but getting his dick wet by every girl he speaks to.
"i.. um. i'll see you later, steve," the girl mumbled, hurrying out of the door because even an idiot could sense the tension between the both of you.
you roll your eyes a little before placing your bag and laptop on the kitchen island. not even speaking as you strolled past him.
"so what.. you're just not going to speak to me?" he asks, running one of his hands through his messy hair. and to that, you didn't respond. "y/n. seriously," steve continues, his voice showing a slight hint of aggression.
"yes, actually. i'm not going to speak to you," you reply bluntly, not even bothering to look up at him. you could feel some brewing in your stomach, like something was churning inside but you just didn't know what it was. all you knew was that it made you feel so anxious you wanted to throw up. it was obviously jealousy but you just couldn't bring yourself to admit it.
"you're speaking to me right now," steve smirks, cockily, knowing exactly how to get under your skin. you just glare at him and say nothing. "come on.. this can't be about our bickering last night?" he says, slightly astonished you were still holding that against him "you know i didn't mean it."
"well, maybe i did," you snap a little, gesturing towards the door and the girl that had just left.
steve chuckled a little at your words and rolled his eyes. "are you talking about her?" he asked, unable to contain his amusement towards the situation. "i.." steve started up, but then stopped the second he realised. were you.. jealous?
it caused him to smirk a little. you were jealous and that's why you were so worked up, and that's why you were so annoyed by him getting his 'dick wet' all the time.. because you were jealous but you were too caught up standing on your high horse to even allow yourself to believe that was true.
who would have guessed it, little y/n, the person who spends all day studying and worrying about their grades fancied steve. mr sleeps around and doesn't care about his grades. steve honestly found it all so funny, so much that he couldn't hold in a little laugh.
"what's so funny?" you say, getting defensive and his sudden burst of laughter.
"oh.. it's nothing," steve replies, deflecting your question.
"no. whats funny?"
"honestly, it's nothing, darling," he smirks, feeling progressively more pleased with himself as he saw your cheeks flush a little at the pet name. 'gotcha' he thought to himself. "don't you worry, i haven't got eyes for her," steve teases, his voice dripping with arrogance that made you want to smack the smug look off his face.
"and um.. y/n," steve says, turning to face you for just a moment. "jealousy looks so.. so good on you," he smirked, giving you a little wink before walking back into his room. leaving you dumbfounded and embarrassed that he was even able to notice.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Your knee won’t stop bouncing.
You’re sitting on the couch, hands clasped tight, worry creeping onto your face although you’re trying your best to hide it. Glancing up at the clock on the living room wall, you curse in your head. They were supposed to be back by now. You look around the room, checking on Lucas and Max sitting at the kitchen table, Max with her headphones on and Lucas using all his concentration to draw her funny pictures.
The others were at Lovers Lake. Or so you hoped. Trying to figure out some water-gate theory that Dustin proposed. You promised you would stay back and watch Max, the thought of being out in the woods, on a lake, in the dark, not really enticing you. You all promised each other three hours. Three hours and they would be back. Three hours and then dinner and a movie night and a big sleepover.
Your head snaps around when you hear a car pulling up outside the house, lights briefly flashing in the window. Max and Lucas turn their heads as you stand up from the couch, pausing for a second when you hear frantic voices in your driveway. Before you can make it to the door it swings open, ushering in chaos and panic with it. Bursting in, you see Eddie and Nancy holding up Steve. A bloody, injured, half-dead looking Steve.
"Oh my god.." you say, it comes out strained. The blood drains from your face.
"Quick, we need help, he won't stop bleeding," Nancy says a little panicked. You share a frightened look with her, both of you trying to keep it together.
"Take him to the bathroom, end of the hallway.”
Nancy and Eddie shuffle with Steve towards the back. You hear Steve groan down the hall and you feel your skin crawl and itch with adrenaline. The rest of the troupe follows in the front door behind them. Robin looks frantic, carrying the remainder of Steve's clothes. "What happened Robs?" it comes out harsh, frightened. Her eyes are jumping all around the room, to the kids, and to you briefly, but they stay at her feet when she talks.
"I don't - I don't know Y/N. It was bad, there were these...these bats, so many of them and we, well Steve, was - " she's cut off by a loud cry from Steve resonating down the hallway and everyone's heads snap towards it. You feel your heart pumping again. "Eddie said to bring him here, said you would know what to do?" she finishes quickly. Your head felt like it was spinning.
"Hey y/n, we need some help in here!" You hear Eddie call from the bathroom. Your feet start moving before you even comprehend it. The most experience you had with this kind of thing was patching up Eddie's old injuries from when you were kids, bloody knees and elbows, scrapes and gashes from Eddie’s (brief) skateboarding hobby, and a particularly nasty cut from when you went camping as teens. As you turned into the doorway of the bathroom you found Steve on the edge of the bathtub, Nancy frantically washing a towel out in the sink while Eddie was crouched low next Steve, arm around his back and under his shoulder keeping him steady. Steve raises his head to look at you with guilty eyes, and you take him in for the first time. A dirty and scratched up face, the bruising around his neck that seemed to be darkening by the second, black blood down his chest and his torso. My god his torso, wrapped in blood red bandages. You didn't know what was under there, and you were scared to look. You'd never seen Steve so beaten.
"Sorry sweetheart... making a mess" he tries to joke but it comes out choked and strained. That's the Steve you knew though, calling you pet names and trying to ease your worry. Over the past few months  you became fast friends, always teetering on the edge of something more. Weekends were spent falling asleep on the couch together after a particularly late movie night, you found yourself on morning walks with him and a cup of coffee before picking up the kids for an adventure, driving around in his old BMW blasting music he didn’t like (but sung along to anyways). You both meant a lot to each other and you knew that, but when this 'Upside down' thing came back you both saw a change in each other. Stress and fear took over, leading to restless nights awake on the couch unravelling theories and coming up with battle plans. You would be lying if you said that one of you getting hurt wasn't your biggest fear, and now here you are, Steve bleeding out in your bathroom after a mission gone wrong.
'Oh, Steve.." you say gently, coming forward to grab his hand. "Let's clean you up, ok?" you nod at him. Nancy comes back over with the wet cloth, starting to wipe away at the blood on his face.
"I thought you might know what to do, there were these bats, got into his sides, he needs stitches or something, fuck I don't know," Eddies looks at you, he sounds like he's begging. "You can do that right? You can fix him?"
"Alright let me take a look" you turn to Steve. "Steve, honey, can I take these bandages off? Just tell me if you need me to stop alright?" He nods at you with a sniffle.
Nancy moves out of your way as she goes to wash the cloth again, pausing at the sink as you gently start with the bandages. Not daring to unravel them yet you pull them down slightly, lifting them from the skin, trying to get a look from above. You can't see anything but pools of blood and torn up skin beneath them and you feel your stomach turn. With eyes locked on his sides and a deep breath - you kick into overdrive.
"Ok, Nance, I need you to go to the kitchen and grab one of the big bowls, fill it with water, and grab towels...plenty of them, from the closet down the hall." You order, not taking your eyes off Steve. "Eds, you know where the first aid kit is right? Grab that, there'll be extra bandages in the same draw, those too. The bottle of alcohol...and, and.. shit I don't know, I don't know.." you stutter, brain running too fast for you to comprehend. You pull your eyes away from Steve and look into Eddie's. He staring at you with full focus. "You know that numbing cream I bought you, for your tattoos? I think it's in my bottom drawer, next to my bed. That too." Both of them don't waste time, a quick 'got it' leaving their mouths before exiting the bathroom. As Eddie leaves his side, Steve starts to collapse over before you nudge into him. "Alright honey I'm just gonna move you over so you can lean against the wall, ok?" as you pull him to the corner of the tub, lightly pushing his shoulders back.
Steve whines as you move him over, eyes scrunched shut and body rigid with pain. You hear Nancy return with the towels and water and place them down on the floor next to you. "What else do you need?" she says. You look over Steve again.
"Scissors, there's a pair in the kitchen, thank you Nance" you say, turning to give her a nod. As she's leaving Eddie comes rushing in, hands full.
"I just grabbed everything I could" he says, dumping it on the sink counter. You laugh a little at him.
"Thanks Eds, can you get the gauze and bandages together?" You ask him gently; you know he must be freaked. Your adrenaline is turning into calmness, you - the eye of the storm. You turn back to Steve, who is trying to stay as still as possible and speak to him. "Ok, I'm going to get these bandages off you and then I'll clean the wounds and see where we're at. See what we can bandage and what will need more ok?" You talk slowly, making sure he comprehends. He can only muster up a small nod and a quiet hum of agreement back at you. Nancy is standing behind you and hands you the pair of scissors, you pause for a moment before starting with the makeshift bandage, cutting them loose one by one. The bathroom starts to feel like an operating room, everyone holding their breath and tense with focus as you start to work on Steve. "The kids alright? Robin? Where are they?" You pause your hands. Once these bandages are off you know you'll have to move fast, you know you'll have to put Steve in pain, and you didn't want anyone around for that.
"They're ok, in the living room, Robin is keeping an eye on everyone," Nancy answers.
"Ok, they might have to get out of here...maybe tell them to take a walk or something," you trail off. Nancy moves to leave.  "Shut the door Nance." You hear the click behind you. Getting back to work, you peel the bandages off carefully. Steve groans and shifts under you, throwing his head back and hands covering his face as the layers come off, bloody and sticky to his skin. You can fully see the bites now and you feel sick in your throat - they were deep. Very deep, and far larger than you expected. You push your emotions down as you reach for a wet towel, trying to clean some of the excess blood. "Eddie, put pressure on the other side," you command, handing him another cloth. You don't see Eddie’s look of apprehension, you don’t see his face turn pale, you just stay focused on taking care of Steve. Steve yelps in pain as Eddie presses the towel to his bites, reaching out to grip the metalhead’s shoulder, Eddie has to turn his head away. Trying to keep his composure. You feel your heart breaking but it only pushes you to work faster.
You feel a presence behind you as Nancy returns, trying to be helpful. "Alcohol and gauze please Nance" you say softly, turning to her. You don't give Steve warning as you pat the cotton pad against his side. His whole abdomen tenses and he straightens up, muttering curses and grabs your forearm to stop you.
"Shit that burns" he whines, dropping his head low, taking short quick breaths to calm down.
"I know, I know, I'm sorry honey," you speak softly at him. Pausing as you feel the vice grip on your arm. He just nods as you feel his grip soften, shoulders start to relax as he releases you and Eddie and he leans back into the wall.
"Ok, I'm sorry keep going" Steve says, his hands moving to grip the edge of the tub beneath him. You proceed to make quick work out if it, dabbing around the edges. Holding your breath when you hit the bites directly as Steve swears and jerks beneath you. It takes some time before both sides are cleaned. It's a dance between you and his blood, jumping back and forth from each side to stop the wounds spilling over.
"They won't stop Y/N, why won't they stop?" Eddies murmurs, eyes transfixed by the performance. You're both holding gauze over the wounds, hoping the pressure will help.
"He needs stitches, doesn't he?" Nancy observes. You hear the shake in her voice. "Can you do that? Do you know how to do that?" Her voice raises an octave as she speaks.
"She stitched me up once after a nasty fall a few years back," Eddie says turning to Nancy. "Had this big cut on my leg, she used a needle and thread – very hardcore," he smiles a little, remembering the day. "She can do it, I know she can," he finishes, with full confidence in his voice.
"I bought a suture kit right after that," you say flatly, throat dry. The cogs were turning in your head trying to remember where you put it. "Might be at the top of my closet, with my camping gear?"
"I'll go look," Nancy offered, rushing out the room.
"Eds, did you find that numbing cream?" you said to him. He springs up to the counter before wordlessly handing it off to you. "Just thought it might help" you say, not sure why you felt the need to rationalize your decision with him but he nods at you nonetheless. It helps with your confidence.
"Don't I get a say in this?" It catches you off guard. Steve's voice is quiet, raspy, worn. You don't want to look at him but you have to. His face looks pale, a light sheen of sweat across his forehead, down his neck. He looks down at you through half closed lids, head leaning against the wall, not strong enough to lift it. "Can't you just put bandages on? Please....y/n please" his voice cracks, eyes scrunching shut. You feel some tears prick at your eyes. You place a hand on his, rubbing your thumb over his knuckles.
"Steve, honey, you're bleeding out, this will help I promise. We have to - we have to do this..." He doesn't see the tear fall from your eye as you turn your head to Nancy, walking back in the room holding your kit. She sheepishly hands it off to you. You clear your throat as you busy yourself with the supplies, bringing Steve's hand over to replace yours on his side. You make quick work of applying the numbing cream, brow furled in concentration, a soft "this will help, you'll barely feel a thing" leaving your mouth. Eddie places a hand on your back to steady you. Your best friend since you were seven, he knows you better than anyone. He won't take your eyes off you, watching a red rash of stress creep up your neck, watching you gnaw your lips and control your breathing. He leans in close to you.
"Want me to do it? Just tell me how..." Eddie says gently. You’re already shaking your head before he finishes.
"No. No, I got this." You open up the suture kit and start prepping the needle and thread. Steve's eyes flash at the needle, and he shifts up with a loud panicked sound.
"Fuck Y/N I don't think I can do this. Oh my god, I can't do this." His breathing starts going erratic as he tries to twist his torso away from you. He’s fully panicking, gasping for air, with his hands pushed against your shoulders to keep you away.
You reach up and grab his face in your both your hands. Holding both his cheeks. "Honey, look at me" and you wait for his eyes to meet yours. "You can do this ok. Alright?” Your voice goes stern, trying to convince him. “I’ll go fast, I promise." You both hold each other's gaze, sharing a deep look between the two of you. When you're like this you feel like you can read each other's minds. At least, that what you tell yourself when you turn to Eddie and Nancy and say, "I need you both to leave."
Nancy's eyes go wide (even wider than before) and starts to put up a protest. Eddie stands up and goes next to her, frantically shaking his head with her, waving his arms. Both of them telling you no. You look back at Steve to reaffirm your decision, he just blinks at you but it was enough. You see the deep pools of tears forming in his eyes. The boy was scared. You turn back to them, "yes, I need you both to leave. I can do this myself. No one else needs to see this." You stare them down with all the serious and intensity you can muster. Eddies shoots you one more reluctant look before letting Nancy guide him out, looking over her shoulder before the door shuts.
Steve releases a breath he didn't know he was holding as you turn back to the needle and thread. He sits up, leaning his head forward a little to get closer to you. The bathroom somehow feels smaller now that it’s just the two of you. "Th-Thank you y/n..." he says softly, hands reaching down to graze your arms, "just wanted to say it before you start, because I think I'm about to be a real dick." He chuckles the best that he can but it turns into a sputtered cough. "Glad you're the one taking care of me, couldn't have it any other way" he finishes, looking at you with a tense smile and his eyes shining with tears.
You give him a soft smile and a press your hand on his knee. "S'alright Steve, I'll always be here to fix you up. Although you might hate me for it in a minute," you say, matching his humor. You lean forward and give him a small kiss on his forehead, causing his brows to crinkle. "Ok, how about you learn against the wall... and here" you hand him a rolled-up cloth "if you need it... to bite down on." He takes it hesitantly.
"The numbing cream should work though, right?"
"Uh well yeah... this is just in case it doesn't." You felt like you were lying.
You give him a hopeful smile and he leans his head back against the wall. You bring your hand close to his side, hoping he doesn't see the tremor. You take a deep breath and you feel him do the same.
"Ready?"
"Yes."
You sink the needle into his skin as swiftly as you can. Steve's eyes snap open, body lurching forward, and hand spasming to grip you again. Your heart practically jumps out of your chest when you hear the loud yelp that comes from his mouth, a trail of swears following immediately after.
"Stop, oh my god fuck, stop please stop" he begs.
You halt your movements, thread half pulled through his skin. You don't dare look at him, with his head collapsed against his chest heaving desperately from the shock. You feel your eyes well with tears again but you hear Steve break before you do, a heavy sob erupting from his body. "I can't, I can't, this is so fucked up y/n this is so fucked!"
You lay a free hand on his chest, near his heart. You feel wet tears drop from Steve's cheeks to your forearm. He just sobs, stress and hurt leaving his body. You're softly hushing him, hand occasionally coming up to help him wipe his tears away.
He takes a shaky breath in and mutters, "shit, I'm really sorry" and goes to lean back against the wall, roughly pushing tears away from his eyes. "I guess that numbing cream didn't fucking work" he jokes wryly. You haven't said a word to him as you feel you might just shatter if you do. He bravely looks in your eyes and it's almost like you can hear both your hearts breaking at once.
"I'm really sorry too Steve..." it comes out dry and raspy and shaky and not at all what you were intending. You feel a tear escape down your cheek as you quickly brush it off. You try to take a breath and push down the heavy sob that is rising in your throat but you fail. "Shit," you cry out in frustration, "you're gonna be ok alright? It'll be ok, but I really need to do this right now," you say, gesturing to your suture hand, "It's the last thing Steve and then you can rest. I don't want to hurt you but -"
"It's fine" he grunts, composing himself again, "keep going, I can take it."
You purse your lips together as you stare the wound, bracing yourself for another impact. You feel Steve tense under you, take a shuddering breath, grip the sides of the wall hold himself.  "Y/N, let's do this" he says quickly, shoving the rolled-up cloth between his teeth.
You don't hesitate then, as the waiting was torture. You drive the needle quickly through his skin, tying neat little knots as you go. You hear Steve whimper above but you block it out, trying to stay focused on the task at hand. You tie off the first side neatly, and don't waste any time moving to the next one, and then the next one, and then the next one. By the time you're finishing up Steve has stilled, drenched in sweat and too exhausted to flinch anymore. You take a moment to admire your work - not great - before running a hand up over Steve's forehead, pushing his hair back.
"Honey it's over I'm all done,” you don’t know how you got your voice to sound so soft.
He opens his eyes wearily and releases the towel from his mouth, he watches you stand up, stretch your legs as you start washing up in the sink. He doesn't dare look down but grazes soft fingertips over the sewn skin, eyes a little bleary and jaw a little sore from it all. You don't dare look at yourself in the mirror, as if the observance might make it sink in a little too deep, make it a little too real that you just sewed up your friend on a weeknight.
After cleaning him up, Steve is trying to push himself off the edge of the bathtub to stand but you don't let him do it by himself. You tuck yourself under his arm, steadying when you feel his weight lean into you. As soon as you open the bathroom door you hear the tinkle of Eddie's chain scatter down the hallway, there's no doubt that he had his ear pressed against the door the whole time. The fresh air of the hallway nipped at your skin, only now realizing how hot the little bathroom got from the panic.
Once in your room you lay Steve down gently on the bed, exhaustion hitting him like a truck. You watch him slide back to the headboard as you pass him the glass of water and the pain killers that you're sure Nancy left out for you.
"Here, take this" it's practically a whisper.
Steve hums at you, not quite ready for words yet as he swallows it down.
"You ok for a little bit?  Was just going to check on the others..." you trail off, waiting for a nod. You watch Steve slide down the bed until his head hits the pillow, eyes droopy and face sunken. You help cover him with the sheets, not resisting the urge to push his hair off his forehead again. The sounds he makes are soft, appreciative, sad. "I'll be right back, ok?" You say, backing out softly. You watch him nod on the pillow as he mumbles to you, but you can't hear what he said, and you leave him with a lamp on and the door a few inches open.
Your body feels heavy and slow as you make your way to the kitchen to check on everyone else, not daring to look back in the bathroom as you walk by it. The hallways are darkened and you don't hear much noise, and as you turn into the main rooms you see why. Robin and the kids are all passed out around on the floors and couches, you breathe a sigh of relief hoping that they've been asleep for a while. You look around and find Nancy and Eddie sitting at the kitchen table. Both cleaned up and sharing a pizza in silence. Their eyes shift to you when you enter, worry and concern both evident on their faces.
"How did it go?" Nancy breaks the silence.
"Uh, ok, fine I guess. I mean he's not bleeding anymore," you pause, your eyes shifting around the room, "he's resting now."
They both nod at you, eyes on the table.
"I - we - could hear him a bit. Sounded bad..." Eddie prods. You just nod, tears springing in your eyes and feeling your throat tighten, it felt like all your emotions were crashing against the wall of your chest. Your face couldn’t help but twist and break as you let out a sob. That was enough for Eddie to get out of his chair and wrap you in tight bear hug. "Thank you for doing that," he whispers in your ear. You screw your eyes shut for a moment, feeling your body shake from the pent-up emotions. You stay in his arms a moment longer before you pull yourself away, looking at the both of them, pulling yourself back together.
"Let's get some rest huh, are you guys, ok? Need anything?" Nancy shakes her head no as she stands up, clearing away the plates.
"Eds, looks like there's a free couch, you should take it. Nance, you can take the guest room if you want, or we could pull the mattress out here?" You offer, but she just shakes her head.
"I'm fine out here, I don't mind sharing the couch with Robin."
They both get settled as you return back to Steve. Slowly pushing the door open and tip toeing in not to wake him. He doesn't look peaceful; he looks beaten. He looks tense. But at least he's sleeping. You creep to your closet, grabbing your extra blanket before making your way over to the sofa chair you had in the corner of your room. You curl up, eyes on Steve always, watching how the lamp softly illuminates his features, his scrunched brow, and the cuts on his face appearing darker in the soft light. Your heart feels heavy looking at him, and you couldn't help but let yourself cry, just for little, at everything that happened that night before falling asleep.
Steve drifts in and out of sleep that night, body aching and wounds burning every time he turned. He remembers seeing you curled up on the chair in the room, asleep, and wanting to reach out to you but he couldn't. His limbs too heavy, too sore to lift.
The next thing you both remember is a blur. Steve, jolting up in bed with a shout, causing you to almost jump out your skin. It takes your tired brain a moment to catch up with the scene. Steve frantic and panting, wide eyed and tense, gripping on the sheets as if to keep him grounded.
"Steve? Are you ok?" you ask, gently approaching the side of the bed.
It was like that moment when a geyser was about to blow. You could see the swell in Steve's chest before it burst, a heavy sob and a flood of tears spilling over, body collapsing over his knees.
"Oh honey..." you climb into the bed with him, wrapping his slender body in your arms as best as you could, your chest to his back, cheek coming to rest on his shoulder blade, and arms encircling his waist. You feel the wracking of his body as he continues to weep.
"I'm sor- sorry" he chokes out, disrupted by sobs. You squeeze him a little tighter, kindly shushing him you press your lips into his shoulder blade and dot a few kisses along his back. You’d never done something so intimate before but it felt right to you. You both stay like that for what felt like a long time, enough to where Steve's lungs felt like they were on fire and to where no more tears could come out. Long enough to where your cheek felt sticky to his back, and your bodies melted together. It was then when he turned around into you, arms wrapping your shoulders and collapsing with you to lay on the bed. You pull him closer, pushing him into the crook of your neck, pulling his hips close to yours, one hand up in his hair. You go to gently rub his back, hoping to even out his breathing and soothe him again.
"You ok, Harrington?" you whisper next to his ear. The ghost of a smile washes over Steve's face, he loved when you called him that. He breaths out, pulling you a little tighter with small nod although he's not sure he meant it.
“Don’t stop calling me honey now, I was just starting to like it” he says, you know he was trying to be humorous, poke fun at something unspoken that was happening that night, but you honestly thought he just sounded sweet.
He hears a light laughter in your chest, he wanted to commit that sound to memory, make you do it over and over again for him, but he settled for the way he felt you smile against the top of his head, the way your heart seemed to skip a beat or two. “Sorry honey, don’t know what came over me tonight, didn’t think you’d notice it.” A half apology, half explanation from you. You realize you’d never called him any pet name before; he was always just Steve. Steve Harrington. You let the silence hang for a moment before pressing on again, “Everything ok? Talk to me.”
"Bad dream, I think. It's like I was back there again. I could...I could feel it all happen again and then I couldn't breathe," he stutters again, voice becoming wobbly. "I thought I was going to die, I thought I was going to watch them all die, and I - " he stops, feeling more sobs climb up his throat, "I was so scared, terrified, and -" another pause, another shudder "there were so many of them, I thought I would be eaten alive, I thought I would be choked out, and no one would know and I just wouldn't come back. I just - I thought about you and I, I" a choked sob jumps out, he pulls you in even tighter, voice now muffled in your shoulder "and what if you never found me down there.” The boy was broken up again, “and I don't want to leave you alone, I can't, and I don't want to be without you, I won't make it without you."
The way you're both clinging onto each other makes you feel like you’ll fall apart if you let go. Steve, the boy you’ve caught between friendship and love, telling you that he can't live without you. It made your body shake. It felt like your heart cracked open. After all, you admit you both knew before tonight, but the words made it real. Very real.
"Steve...honey, baby look at me. Look at me! You're fine, you're alive, can you feel it?” He’s a wet mess beside you, you’ve never seen him cry this much. “Just hold me honey, just hold me. I’m right here. Can you hear my heart?” He nuzzles into your chest, wishing he could dip his head beneath your ribs. “Just breath with me.”
You weren't sure if what you were saying made sense, or if it was right, but it’s all you knew how to do.  You stayed like that for a long time, waiting, willing for the distress to pass. You felt Steve’s back relax and tense, the pain coming in waves, the bad memories crashing in his mind. It was after a long pause of stillness when you felt his throat tighten again, getting ready to speak.
“Thank you. Thank you for taking care of me. Don’t think I got a chance to really say that before” a soft, earnest chuckle comes out. You laugh a little too, knowing that he even though he did, the hours felt like days ago. “And I’m so sorry. For everything. You shouldn’t have to do this stuff. I shouldn’t be showing up at your door half dead and making a mess of things.”
“But that’s not what’s happening Steve, you’re not doing any of that. You show up at my door and I take care of you. That’s the deal and I’ll always do it.” It’s a simple fact at this point.
He pauses, he's learned not to argue with you when you sound like this. “Are you ok?” he asks, voice soft.
You nod before you speak. “Yes, yes” you say a little more confidently, “but I’m also scared.” He lifts his head to look at you, you see that it takes him too much effort. “You have me Steve, you won’t lose me, but I can’t lose you either, it would kill me just as much. I love you too much, it’s too -” you feel your throat tightening again, now you’re the one fighting tears, “-it’s too, oh god, it’s like overwhelming, and I knew this but I didn’t know until you were here bleeding out in front of me and it felt like life or death,” you felt yourself rambling, like you were hoping you could bury your confession in a pile of words. “Anyways, listen, it doesn’t matter right now, the point is I’m ok and you’re ok, and everyone else is too.”
The silence settles in and feels heavy, you’re both acutely aware of each other’s breathing. Steve feels like he can’t take his eyes off you. As if as soon as he does it’s over, it’s no longer real. You let your eyes fall shut, the toll of the day pulling them down. You feel Steve struggle to shift slightly in your arms, it’s only then you relax your arms to give him the space to move beneath them. It’s languid, it’s gentle, but you feel a soft kiss press to the bottom of your jaw. You feel the heat move away, and then a press against your cheek. You turn into it, tips of noses bumping, eyes shut, just feeling each other's breath for a moment. You feel the whisper hit your lips before you hear it. The smallest, gentlest “I love you too” falling from Steve’s mouth. You feel his arms come across your waist, up your back, one stopping at your hips and other coming to tangle itself in the back of your hair. You feel like there’s an electric current moving between the both you. He stops for a moment, intentional, holding you there. You blink your eyes open to find his deep brown ones staring back at you. Just for a moment, it felt like it all slipped away, the pain, the fear, the hurt. It felt normal, like two people daring each other to make a move for the first time. The moment doesn’t last long as he pulls you into him, lips melting into yours. It sets your body on fire as you take a sharp inhale. You hear a deep groan come from the back of his throat, but it sounds miles away as your head goes fuzzy, feeling his arms encasing you. You’re careful to touch him, not wanting to brush against his stitches to ruin the sweetness of this moment, so you move your hands around his shoulders, his hair, his neck, his cheek, you couldn’t decide where to settle them. Tangled up in limbs, he feels hot against you. When you both pull apart you both blink at each other in wonder, a soft smile shared between you two before Steve leans in again, delivering a soft kiss to your cheek. It sets you into a giggle, leading Steve to cock an eyebrow, “that bad you gotta at laugh at me huh?” he says, quiet and teasing. Your laugh becomes a little louder at that.
“No, of course not, that was perfect honey” and since you couldn’t resist, you hone your point with a flutter of kisses across his face, now spurring on his laughter, something that sounded so sweet after hearing all his pain. You settle down into a comfortable cuddle, Steve on his back and holding you against his chest. Both of you feeling pure bliss, Steve’s pain gone for the moment, and you let your eyes fall shut.
You almost don’t hear it at first when he whispers, “promise you’ll be here in the morning, promise you’ll wake me up?” You place another kiss on his jaw, and whisper your promise back to him. You both sleep deeply that night, the weight of sleep pulling you under.

eddie would be the type of guy to show up at your house in the middle of the night just because he wants to show you something. it usually is a new song he has been working on. so with his guitar on his back, he sneakily climbs up onto your garage, careful not to wake your parents. he slightly knocks on your window, waiting for you to open up and although you are tired, you happily let him in, already seeing the guitar peaking out from behind his back. together you sit down on your bed. eddie plays you a few chords of his new song, not too loud, but loud enough so you can hear the whole melody. of course, you love it. there's nothing that eddie has written that you didn't like. in the end, you make him stay with you as you cuddle up in bed. you just have to get up early enough for your parents not to noticed eddie's car in the driveway.

Eddie's bisexual awakening being that moment in the boat where Steve ripped off his sweater would be both funny and endearing. He has a crisis in the middle of a shitstorm, of course.
Eddie: *internally* I like girls, I like girls, I like girls - OH SHIT, okay, not just girls!
Then, he proceeds to get out his emotional support cigarettes.

When Eddie eventually moves out of Wayne's trailer to live with Steve, there's going to be a custody battle over the mug collection.
Once Eddie loses the custody battle, he will start his new collection.
Every visit will be spent bragging (by both Wayne and Eddie) about the new mugs they got.
They will never, EVER get the same mug.

Eddie has always been the agreedable one in his previous relationships.
This afternoon you showed up in the trailer with the cake like every Saturday. The day before, Eddie had been wondering what you were going to bake this time. Maybe a chocolate chip brownie or cheesecake or those little cinnamon cookies? All your pastries were delicious. However, when you took the cake out of the container, he froze.
Carrot cake. A cake made of carrots. The worst vegetable the world has ever seen. If it were human, it would be Jason Carver. Eddie was sure that the carrot was responsible for at least half of the evil in this world. Once, in his dream, it chased him with a roll of newspaper, beating him like a bug.
He knew it was a good boyfriend test day. You tried very hard baking that cake, mentioning that Eddie wasn't getting enough vitamins, which was obviously not true because he was getting all the vitamins he needed from the tomato sauce on the pizza. However, telling you about his distaste for this devil vegetable would make you sad, so he bravely decided to eat this carrot-tainted cake. Hardening a smile to his face, he ate mouthful after mouthful, praising your baking. Your smile only widened. In his imagination, Eddie was like a knight with a sword protecting you from all the sorrows of the world. He was going to eat even another piece for you. Well, maybe next time. After eating a large portion, he thanked you and you both went to his room to watch the horror movie Steve had recommended for you.
***
He never complained about anything and agreed to everything, which is why he didn't understand how your first quarrel happened. It all started when you came back from the kitchen with two cans of soda.
- Eddie bear, why was Wayne surprised you ate the carrot cake I made?
- I don't know what the old man meant sweetheart.
- He said you blame carrots for all the evil in this world.
- It's a dramatic exaggeration.
- And that's why it sounds like something you said. Babe, why didn't you just tell me you don't like it?
- I don't understand why you're mad. I didn't mean to upset you.
- Eddie, you don't have to pretend that everything suits you. I won't be mad that you don't like something I made. I'll be mad that you're forcing yourself to eat it because of me. Promise me you won't make me happy at your expense ever again.
- I cannot promise you that darling. I'd even eat peas for you. And peas are not vegetables but plants from hell.
- Eddie...
- Okay, I promise if I don't like something, I won't force myself to eat it. But what about the rest of the cake?
- Don't worry, I saw Wayne took care of that.
- Not surprised. This man would eat anything after his shift.
- Hey! It wasn't that bad! But you'll be okay with beetroot cake, right? - you tested him.
- Sweetheart, we need to discuss your making vegetable cakes problem - Eddie said starting to tickle you.
***
The next week, you surprised him with a giant carrot-shaped brownie that didn't have any veggies in it. Better to eat such vegetables than none at all.

There's only one 100% straight person in Stranger Things and that's Hopper.
No, I won't be taking criticism on this.
(but he is definitely an ally and protects everybody else)

The kids love to tease Steve and call him an old man.
Well they call him lots of things. Mom, Goober, Steeeeeeeve, Party Pooper, Uptight, even Mother on occasions where Steve is being particularly annoying to them.
But old man is new.
It starts when they find him asleep on the new couch in the Byers's home. Steve doesn't even remember falling asleep, he just remembers waking up and having seven sets of eyes peering down at him and scaring the bejeezus out of him. The Party poked fun like normal, but moved on quickly to the next thing to snark about.
Then it kept happening.
Over and over. In Eddie's trailer when they play DnD and he's waiting to drive them home. During movie nights in the Wheeler's basement. Even at his job when they come over after school finishes. But, no matter how hard they push, Steve won't tell them why he's so tired all of a sudden.
He's just sure they would never let him live it down if he admitted that the reason he kept falling asleep was because he only felt safe enough to relax if all of his kid were close. He really can only sleep these days if knows that he would hear if they were in trouble and needed him.

steve poking fun at eddie whenever his southern upbringing sneaks its way out is my new favorite thing to think about. his accent, a little bit of a drawl, comes out after a few drinks or when he gets overly excited or when he's angry. better yet, eddie will say things that steve has just never heard of and finds it too entertaining having him repeat certain things.
"okay, okay, just humor me this one last time!" he'll say and eddie will roll his eyes but he'll play along because, damnit, he'll do anything to see his boy belly laugh. "you're going grocery shopping. it's a big shop and you know you can't carry it all so... what is it that you need to help?"
and steve will be all barely held back giggles, eyes crinkling into crescents before he's even begun to really laugh and he looks like a kid waiting to catch santa claus.
and eddie will sigh, laying it on thick by rolling his eyes once more for good measure and crossing his arms over his chest before muttering out, "... a buggy, steve. you need a gotdamn buggy."
seeing steve bend over to cackle is worth any sort of humiliation eddie thinks could ever come from showing his true colors and laughs along with him, his own smile wide and bright as he pushes into steve's space so he can press a kiss to his crinkled cheek.
