Musical Advent Calendar Day 22
Here is the epic 'Slàinte Mhath' (pronounced Slanj-a-vah) our 2022 charity single in aid of Strathcarron Hospice. It is a love letter to all the friends & family we have lost over the covid years. The song encourages you to raise a glass in their memory with a toast, saying "Cheers" in classic Scottish fashion, saying "Slàinte Mhath", which in Gaelic translates to “Good Health”. 🍻🥂🥃🥃x

Back on the fundraising trail for Strathcarron Hospice and it’s amazing cause with a 10k run this morning.
The daily cost of providing all their fantastic services (palliative care, day care, home visits, bereavement counselling) has increased to over £12,600 and, as with many charities, they are having a tough time this year.

This documentary is about Maureen Godfrey, a woman who has worked all her life in Strathcarron Hospice and it explores her experiences within such a dark and sad workplace, being constantly surrounded by ill patients. The documentary will explore how she handles this and how it feels to work with sick patients every day. This will be aimed at a more mature audience as it deals with morbid themes that should be targeted towards an older audience.
The feedback given to me by my classmates was mostly positive however they also pointed out a few technicalities that I would have to deal with whilst producing my film. They pointed out that I would not be able to take footage of the patients which would mean that I would be scraping the bottom of the barrel for archive footage, they also pointed out that it may be difficult to get a full documentary out of this due it being a very specific topic.
There are many practicalities of this, the main one being travel. Maureen stays in Falkirk, and since the college is in Glasgow, it will be a long distance to carry the crew and the equipment necessary to film the documentary, but the plan will be to take my crew on a train to Larbert, and then drive the crew from Larbert to Camelon, where we will film.  This will cost around £15 return in total for the whole crew which is quite a high cost. The other complication is that I have two designated filming days which means that I need my interviewee to be free on both days, if not then I will have to resort to my plan B.
The concept will look at the Maureen’s career and how she handles the pain of working with morbidly sick people, one good thing about this theme of illness is that I will be able to explore how it feels to work under the pressure of being constantly surrounded by people who need cared for, up until their dying days. It also allows me to explore deeper into what makes Maureen tick and why she does what she does, how she deals with such burdens of pain and suffering of patients. However, it is also an incredibly sensitive subject which means that there are many areas which I will have to avoid exploring in great detail due to the fact that I do not want my documentary becoming too morbid and dark, so I must limit myself and my interviewee to the depth that I explore some areas of the subject.
My plan B is to look explore the life of footballer Craig Sibbald who currently plays for Livingston Football club and explore his life and how it feels to grow up playing for your local team in Falkirk Football club. This would allow me to create a character who has humble beginnings and has came to become a solid player the top league of Scotland. This will be aimed at a younger audience and allow the player to inspire people to always chase their dreams.
