I have a medication related question :).
So I have my first ever meds, Atomoxetine, and they said to take it in the morning. and because I’m super socially awkward and nervous, I asked no follow up questions 😆
so. if you take Atomoxetine (Strattera), what time do you take it in the morning? Is it a super early thing? Of course I’m not asking for medical advice, just what any of you have trial and errored (or what your doctor told you because you were smarter than me and asked lmao). I know it’s different for everyone, just looking for a frame of reference.
thankssss <33

Unexpected side effect of adhd medication Atamoxatine: lack of appetite. I was hungry at noon, ate 4 scrambled eggs and 2 pieces of toast. Donated plasma. 5 hours after eggs and toast, had a single slice of Casey's pizza - not bc I was hungry but bc I had a headache and knew food would help after plassing (yes that's the verb that's used). 5 hours after that single slice of pizza, I might have a bowl of cereal before bed, but if I didn't eat I'd probably be fine.
Hey, maybe I'll lose weight if I don't ever eat XD

for anybody out there who takes strattera & also has pots, i found a study supporting my suspicion that norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors can make autonomic nervous system problems worse. defintely something to keep in mind when you’re adjusting dosages & deciding if you need to take any side effect medications to offset things. and speaking from experience here, it might be a situation where the dose you’re on is fine for a while, but then it gets to a point where side effects start to give you trouble & you need to consider the things i mentioned above

So, day 4 of Strattera for adhd. First 3 days was 25mg, today bumped up to 50. Do Not Like. I feel even more scattered than usual. I am scattered enough. Antsy, angsty. Snapped at both hubs and kiddo over minor things. Dry mouth and vibrating like a piano wire. Also tummy cramps and feeling bloated like I'm retaining water?

UGH. I am so bored. Been up since 2am because my ADHD SNRI med won't let me sleep longer than 3 hours at a time. Not sure what to do for the rest of today. I am going on a roadtrip at 3:30AM on Friday to catch a train to my hometown at 9:00AM Friday. Gonna be up all day now because of coffee I had at 3am because I am insane (not really, lol).

I started Ritalin today and I don't know if it's because I simultaneously didn't take atomoxetine this morning (switched off them after 3 ish weeks because they were making me miserable) and thusly I'm not experiencing the adverse side effect of those, but I feel so much better already! I started feeling so much more alert and awake very soon after taking my Ritalin than I have in ages (like for a little while there I was not tired AT ALL which. does not happen to me. ever) and I immediately got up to do the dishes and have been engaging in a hobby with pretty solid focus since. And again I don't know how much of this is the addition of new meds vs removal of the other (which was causing extreme brain fog - trouble focusing, thinking, speaking, doing anything, as well as making me super irritable), but I feel so much better today than I have in almost a month. And I'm pretty sure the new meds are definitely having an effect but, and I'm trying not to get too excited just in case, hell yeah!!

Starting Strattera, anyone been on it before? I’m terrified of SSRIs and SNRIs because of past experiences but idk

I'm exhausted.
The good news is that a double dose of Strattera (still well within the dosage range) gives me hella focus and I cleaned for 5 hours.
On topic — I see the shirt badgers got ForceBook in Taipei. Thanks to kidna_ksn on Twitter, this is their photo.

My new psychiatrist upped my dosage of Strattera from 10mg to 20mg. So far so good. Still seem to be having a weird drop in my heart rate but I can't complain.
So the pharmacogenetic testing show that I am a bit slow to break some meds like this down so it's good we are starting low and going slowly with it. Checking back in next month so fingers crossed everything continues to go well.

little strattera rant + asking for some advice/experiences?
so i’ve taken strattera for about a year. i never noticed any immediate changes in my focus and productivity, i did get more productive over time, but thats from me learning to manage things better. ive quit about 2-3 weeks ago vecause its just so expensive and doesnt do anything for that money, and nothing has changed daily.
HOWEVER
I literally cannot sleep properly at all now. thats the only real change i noticed back when i started, falling asleep got waaay easier, i could just stop my thoughts and fall asleep, and i slept way deeper. now sleep feels like i barely get any rest, it feels like my brain is constantly going and i’m semi awake all night, concious every hour or two.
has anyone had a similar experience? i’m thinking of going meds free now, but i would love to try a proper adhd med. its just really hard to get in my country, and i dont know if its worth the hassle

medication update
i get INSANELY sleepy in the middle of the day. The effect is lessening although the first day was also just a good focus day in general so idk. I’m supposed to double my dose after a while so maybe that’ll help, but i’m worried about getting even more sleepy. I do find i have more mental energy to do things in the evening

i miss enjoying food. strattera + zoloft have killed my appetite. a couple years ago, peak eating disorder me wouldve LOVED this. But i do genuinely miss being able to finish a meal. i miss wanting to eat and wanting to try new foods.
i cant even get through a small fry and a milkshake on my own. i can barely get through a bowl of strawberries. i can only handle half an avocado. a single fried egg.
