'god, they make me so nervous.'
felix gulps and quickly glances down at his lap, where he's fiddling with his fingers nervously as he tries his best to act normal.
emphasis on the word tries.
his heart is constantly beating out of his chest while his hands clam up–all because you're seated across from him. with each passing glance from you in his direction, felix's composure falters, and his heart wants to run into your arms.
when you look in felix's direction, with those breathtaking eyes of yours that felix finds himself lost in, time and time again. your eyes that mesmerize him, he finds himself analyzing the waves of colour in your iris, tangled up in you as he swims in the depths of your beautiful eyes; he wouldn't mind drowning in them if it meant your eyes were on him and only him for the rest of his life.
under your gaze, felix can only muster a slight smile that you return, but he wants to smack himself. he could feel just how stiff his smile was; no doubt it looked awkward. he can't seem to relax his lips around you–he can't relax, period.
felix is always scared to mess up around you, to stumble over his words, and for you to perceive him as an idiot.
felix likes you, no–felix is in love with you.
but he doesn't quite know how to go about it, how to confess or how to serenade you so you fall into his waiting arms.
no matter how many times chan tries to tell his younger friend to be himself around you, to act natural, and you'll become putty in his arms, as chan argues, who won't? with someone as bright as felix, anyone would fall for his cute freckled face and charming personality. felix just can't; he's not on the same page.
he's too busy overthinking his next moves and how you may perceive them, even simple questions such as;
"hi, the weather's nice. do you wanna take a walk?"
felix is too scared to ask; he's worried you'll say no. he doesn't think his heart can take it if you say no.
the possibilities of admiring you from afar suggest both pros and cons. secretly admiring you with no clue regarding your feelings for him leads to two possibilities: you reciprocate felix's romantic feelings, or you see him as just a friend. if the latter turns out to be true when rejecting his offer to take a walk, his hopes will be crushed. but if the former is true, then felix is over the moon.
the glaring possibility of you not reciprocating his romantic feelings and holding mere platonic feelings for felix holds him back from confessing. he doesn't know if he's ready for that possible rude awakening.
one could say that ignorance is bliss.
the ones who aren't ignorant are your shared group of friends, felix's feelings for you are glaringly obvious in their eyes. every little thing flies under the radar of those in your friend group with hawk-like eyes.
the boys are well aware of felix's crush: he never stops talking about you, and the boys also never stop talking about felix's confession, interested in the how, what, when's and where's of the big moment.
a variety of questions felix has yet to find an answer to as the thought of confessing scares him to pieces.
on the other hand, the girls didn't even need to be explicitly told about felix's feelings for you. the freckled boy always has heart eyes when he's around you, or his eyes light up with joy at the mere mention of you, that in itself made the crush strikingly apparent and practically confirmed every suspicion they had.
heck, the whole neighbourhood probably knows how heart-eyes felix is for you.
when sunday came around, it was a miracle that some of you had a day off on such a beautiful day.
the sun shone brightly, the trees up and down the streets were beautifully full and green, and other trees had pink and white sakura petals blowing in the wind. the floral scent of the sakura and flowers blooming danced along with the smell of freshly baked pastries and coffee beans. since most of you had a free day, you all met up at a local cafe to spend a lazy sunday morning together.
the group spread out at the different tables of the cafe's outdoor seating as they basked in the spring atmosphere. once seated, you all conversed with one another as you patiently waited for the drinks and pastries you ordered. depending on where everyone decided to sit and whom they were sitting with, the topics of conversation varied.
felix sat with seungmin and jeongin as they discussed the upcoming release of a role-playing video game they had been looking forward to for quite some time now. while you sat at the table next to them closer to the cafe window, yeji and ryujin sitting across from you.
in the midst of the conversations, the barista came out to serve the orders to the respective person. most of the group ordered their usual beverage alongside a small pastry, while the others picked some things off the best-seller list to try something new for once. felix noticed that they were offering limited seasonal drinks, so he opted to try that alongside a triple chocolate brownie.
when felix's drink was served, everyone's eyes were drawn to the layered, gradient detail, which made his drink more appealing and exciting than everyone else's; the matcha green, white, and pink layering was definitely eye-catching. however, what caught felix's eye was how your eyes sparkled in awe as he sipped on the drink.
it took him a couple of minutes to build up the courage to ask you, but eventually, he did. felix took one last sip and turned to you with a shy smile, "did you want to try?"
your eyes widened a bit at the fact that you'd been caught staring at felix and his drink, not noticing the redness on the tips of his ears. you shake your head with a smile, but felix hasn't spent the past couple of minutes building up his courage to say no.
"c'mon."
you shake your head again, "it's okay, i have a drink."
"sip for a sip?" felix suggests. you cock your head in confusion, "you take a sip of mine, and i take one from yours; that way, it'll be even."
jeongin and seungmin have amused smiles on their faces, watching this exchange go down, much like everyone else does. ryujin and yeji are holding back their giggles while jisung and changbin are holding back from teasing the shit out of felix for being able to get a few sentences out when speaking to you. instead of teasing felix to his face and embarrassing him in front of you at that moment, they're whipping out their phones and sending messages to chan, minho and hyunjin.
they're all trying to act like they aren't glancing over and listening to you two.
after a brief pause, you're biting back a sheepish smile and shrugging, "why not."
when you and felix exchange cups, your fingers accidentally brush against him. it's a gesture you don't notice, but felix sure as hell does. it's pathetic, but he thinks he might just faint.
you’re quick to take a sip first, which is a testament to just how excited and curious you were when you first laid eyes on felix's drink. your eyes only light up further when the drink hits your tongue, and felix goes ahead and takes a sip of your drink. you go to take another sip, but you're quick to stop yourself, realizing it wasn't part of the agreement.
"if you want, we can just switch," felix offers when you turn towards him. you blink. " you seem to like my drink more than i do," he chuckles, and you feel your cheeks heat up.
"are you sure? what if you didn't like mine?"
"i like yours better," he's lying through his teeth.
in all honesty, felix preferred the drink he ordered to yours, but if he could see that look in your eyes when you took a sip and offered to exchange drinks, that was enough to convince him that he preferred your drink over his. felix would lie and persuade himself he liked things he didn't if it meant he'd get to see that sparkle in your eyes—anything to make you happy.
felix is absolutely whipped for you. absolutely down bad.
especially seeing how it's now almost three thirty in the morning; he's laying in bed gazing up at the ceiling and replaying how your eyes lit up at his offer to first take a sip and then offer you the whole drink. felix also feels like a grade-schooler when his mind tells him drinking from the same straw as you did was an indirect kiss. just the thought of kissing you makes felix giddy.
his phone buzzing from its spot next to him on the mattress snaps him out of his trance. felix's mind now wanders to who would text him at three thirty in the morning, when everyone either had work or school the next day. regardless, he picks up his phone and nearly drops it on his face when he sees they're from you.
y/n :) : thank you again for earlier  i should've gotten it for myself in the first place so i didn't have to steal yours
felix: i gave it to you voluntarily, no stealing there no need to thank me at all
y/n :) : whatever you say lix
'lix'.
god he feels like he's going to go into cardiac arrest.
you've never called him that; it's always been felix or yongbok. this has him wondering if this is just a one-off occurrence or if you'll start addressing him like that now. he hopes for the latter, even though the latter will have him practically melting whenever you call him as if he doesn't already.
'are you free on friday? we can go back to the cafe together so you can get the seasonal drink this time.'
'i was just wondering if you were free on friday.'
'you know, since it's a limited-time seasonal drink, did you wanna go back on friday?'
he doesn't send any of those potential messages, psyching himself out of asking you to hang out just the two of you on friday. he just types them up and carefully deletes them, hoping he doesn't accidentally send them; he'd probably double over in embarrassment if he sent a half-deleted message asking you out.
yes, he built up enough courage to ask if you wanted some of his drink earlier and eventually switched his with yours, but asking you to hang out with just the two of you is a whole separate thing. you've only ever hung out with each other in a group setting.
at least in a group, he can sit silently while he's freaking out internally and not have to worry about filling the air with conversation. he'd probably find himself stumbling over his words if it was just the both of you; he'd look like a loser and then have no chance.
instead, felix opts for a:
how was the rest of your day today?
with his phone resting on his chest and his screen facing the ceiling, he waits for your reply. his heart almost jumps out of his ribcage when his phone buzzes.
y/n :) : it was good! but the highlight was definitely the seasonal drink at the cafe haha  it was so good!
your little 'haha' at the end of the second message brings a smile to felix's face; he can hear your little giggles in his head when he reads the message. his heart flutters at the thought.
felix: i'm happy to hear you liked it so much it became the highlight of your day haha  you went to watch a friend's basketball game in the evening right?
y/n :) : yeah i did!
felix: how was that? did your friends team win?
y/n :) : that was also fun, they didn't win, but it was a close call the other team was down by two but got a three-pointer at the buzzer  the crowd went wild at that
felix: oh wow, it really was a close call did you go wild too lol
y/n :) : i mean it was hard not to haha  my friend, even tho he lost, was raving about it afterwards  even his team was amazed by the chances
felix: are they playing against another team or was it their last game
y/n :) : they have another game on friday
well, there goes felix's plan of asking you out on friday, a plan he repeatedly talked himself out of due to his fear of rejection.
nonetheless, the plan was still up in the air and within reach if he decided he had the guts over the week. felix texts back, wishing your friend's team luck and hoping they win their upcoming game. feeling a bit dejected that you are, in fact busy, on friday, he hopes his dejection isn't evident through the pop-up on your side of the screen.
laying his phone back down on his chest, face up, he ponders, making up strategies in his head on potential ways he'll confess in the future, only to hit the conclusion that he needs to consult the boys; anything he thinks of on his own leads to him talking himself out of it.
whenever felix thinks of confessing, he has two potential outcomes in mind: you reject him, effectively breaking his heart and forcing him to move on, or you reciprocate his feelings; felix will be in disbelief that the girl of his dreams likes him back, and you both live happily ever after. the latter only manifests late at night, in the depths of his unconsciousness, when he's going through sleep cycles. where he wakes up happy until he registers he's been dreaming.
felix's phone buzzes on his chest multiple times, signalling he's getting more than one notification, prompting him to grab ahold of the device out of curiosity and silence it; it's almost four in the morning, and the vibration of his phone is louder than it seems in the middle of the afternoon.
y/n :) : i've been meaning to ask actually did you want to come to the game with me this friday? it'll be just us two, and we could go to the cafe either before or after if you're free that is if you aren't that's okay too
felix has the heels of his hands on his eyes, rubbing vigorously before he's looking at his phone screen again, making sure that he's reading correctly and not seeing things. he also pinches himself to ensure he isn't imagining anything, that he isn't dreaming of you asking him on a date–well, is it a date?
it could just be a friendly, platonic hangout alone.
regardless, it's the two of you alone, and he thinks he will explode. this is even more so when his eye rubbing and pinching only solidifies that he is indeed seeing what he's seeing.
it isn't a dream; it's reality, and they're staring at him through words on a screen.
felix wants to take a breath to calm his heart but at the same time he needs to reply as soon as possible before you take back your offer if he seems uninterested.
felix: i'm free on friday! i'd love to go to the game and revisit the cafe with you
'was love too much? do i sound too excited?'
felix reads his message over and over again, his heart leaping when the grey bubbles pop up and indicate you typing on the other side. god, he hopes this isn't some cruel joke; his heart is too fragile to take that. if he reads into this wrong and you snap him into reality, then he will feel like his dawn has been ruined.
when his phone buzzes with another incoming message from you, he feels like he's dreaming, still not believing his eyes even as he repeatedly reads over your messages.
if felix felt like a grade schooler earlier, he feels it tenfold now. the giddiness and excitement bubbling up within him and threatening to overflow are reminiscent of your grade school crush telling you they liked your shirt or thought your pencil was cool. or when you're playing a game of truth or dare, and your friends tease you by daring your crush to hug you, the giddiness that comes from that hug.
he practically feels like he's over the moon, on cloud nine, giggling and kicking his feet as he repeatedly reads the grey bubbles on his screen. his heart soaring and tummy flipping after each read.
y/n :) : it's a date :)  i'll see you this friday lix <3

rendezvous ☆ felix
! : Felix is bullied when he's younger, idk how long it is but i hope long enough and not too dragged on </3, not proof-read !
# : bestie prince!felix x gn royal!reader, a robin hood moment
[💌: i am so grateful to be part of this collab, especially because i am in a mental rut and this fic is short, literally written in just a few sparse sittings, and is really gonna be the lowest of the low 🛌 anyways stay tuned for the other writers' works and ty if u decide to give mine a read T-T]
"just pick the time, i'm down, i always do."
Tumblr media
being a royal isn't all that magical. it's just annoying. you have none of your own agency, you're followed around all day, you always have to act and look perfect... it's so tiring. sure, you don't have to worry about not being able to afford things, but it sucks. living in so much wealth while others are dying sucks.
and it sucks that you can't do anything about it... except, you can. and you do. and that's your only joy in life.
your parents only trust you, their beloved royal child, with Felix. he's your best friend from another kingdom, one whom you supposedly can never marry, so it's fine if you're just harmless friends. your two kingdoms are on peaceful terms, anyway.
when Felix visits you once a week, you're allowed to leave the palace and be with him. it's the day you look forward to the most, especially because you give back to the community on this special day of the week.
there's no putting it simply. you both dress up as commoners and roam the streets, handing out large sums of money to people who need it. the money is a combination of your own allowance and the palace's money. it's almost like a robin hood situation.
"is the royal highness of this palace ready to embark on yet another adventure?" you hear Felix's deep voice behind of your bedroom.
the guard standing outside your door says, "prince Felix is here, shall i let him in?"
"of course," you say, and the doors open to reveal Felix, dressed all in white and not a single stain on hin despite riding his horse here.
"are you ready?" he asks with a grin, his blonde locks falling into his eyes.
"are you? you're not going dressed like that, are you?" you ask the boy, who shakes his head at you.
"stop playing, i know you have clothes ready for me in your closet," he says, walking over to find them for hinself.
"and what would you do without me?" you tease, also joining him in searching through your closet for some commoner's clothes, kindly donated to you by some of your servants and friends.
"i'd be living my best life," Felix says, jokingly.
you punch his shoulder lightly and he acts as though he's been shot.
"is everything okay, your highness y/n?" the guard outside asks.
"yes, don't worry! Felix is just being annoying," you say.
he sticks his tongue out at you and giggles, grabbing his clothes of choice and running to your ensuite to change.
he makes sure you're also dressed before he steps back into your room. as if you haven't already done this a million times, the two of you look at each other and laugh.
"you'd be such a heart throb commoner," you tell Felix as you fix his collar.
his cheeks turn red slightly due the proximity as he chuckles, watching your delicate fingers against his clothes.
"i'm already a heart throb now, what are you gonna do about it?!" he says after you move back, sticking his tongue out at you.
you wave him away and leave your room, getting ready to leave the palace. he follows you and the two of you talk the whole way into town.
the palace is far from town, another thing which you hate. it's to physically displace the royals from the rest and it's awful. still, you prefer getting there on-foot.
"i still can't believe some of the servants who make deliveries have to walk this long journey every day," you say to Felix, who casually pulls you away from a big hole in the path.
"it's the worst. and in the heat, too?! gosh."
silence evelops you both as you digest the moment, walking along this path with your best friend. suddenly, you start to think about how much Felix has grown up.
before, you were always defending him when you were both younger. he was always bullied for being too feminine of a prince and you despised everyone who thought so. now, he's stealing everyone's hearts with his gorgeous face and deep voice. you'd like to say you have dibs on him because you've always loved him unconditionally from the start but... why would you have dibs on your friend?
"y/n, do you know what rendezvous means?" Felix suddenly asks.
"of course i do.. it's french for appointment and means the same in english--a time and place for two people to meet," you say.
"i like that word a lot. it sounds so much better than appointment, meeting, or... well, anything else."
"well, that's random," you say.
Felix's deep laugh is contagious as you laugh along with him. you didn't realize how warm it is today, and appreciate the gentle breeze that finds you both in that moment.
"it's not random! i feel like we're having a rendezvous right now. this is our rendezvous," he explains.
for some reason, your mind goes blank. Felix turns to look at you and smiles when your eyes meet.
"and this is why you're stealing everyone's hearts," you say.
"everyone's except yours," he mumbles.
___☎️
finally, you both make it to town. it's as busy as ever with all the merchants selling their goods and people trying to bargain for a good deal.
"let's see who needs our help today," Felix whispers to you as he pulls you close.
you walk up to a stand and overhear a mother trying to bargain.
"please, i really need these herbs! my son is sick and i can't afford to pay for medicine. with these herbs, i can help him at least feel a bit better. please, i only have this much with me," the lady shows the merchant her money, but he dismisses her.
just as she turns to leave, Felix places a bag of money in her hands.
"buy the herbs, some medicine, and some good fruit. i hope your son gets better," he tells her.
she beams as she analyzes the contents of the bag.
"oh my goodness! young man, where did you get all this from?"
"don't worry about it. i can't promise i didn't steal it, but i can promise that no one will ever know," he says wirh a wink.
the lady chuckles and when she turns to pay for the herbs, both you and Felix rush off.
"i hope her son feels better," you say with a pout.
Felix pats your head. "i'm sure he'll be fine."
as you both continue to walk around, an old man calling to you both makes you turn around.
"you lovely two, would you like your fortune told? it doesn't cost much and it's very accurate!"
you and Felix look at each other.
"i don't believe in this stuff but let's give it a shot," he says.
you follow the man to his hut and he invites you to sit down.
"so, would you like to see your future in love, health, or wealth?" the man asks.
"love," Felix says without hesitation.
"ah, be careful if you are a couple," the old man says hesitantly. "if the fortune is bad, i am not responsible for a breakup!"
"ah, no, we're not a couple!" you say.
Felix's heart drops.
the old man smiles, reading the situation and after a moment of silence, reveals your fortune.
"i can see that the two of you are close friends, but there are different feelings blooming between you both. you're hesitant, wary of the other's heart. stop being so careful. your guess is right, just go for it," he says.
you choke on your own saliva and take hold of Felix's arm. "okay, that's enough! thank you, sir!"
you leave the hut and meet a Felix with a flushed face.
"hey, we're just gonna forget about that, right?" you ask, flustered.
Felix suddenly turns serious.
"and why should we?" he asks.
suddenly, his features harden. not in an angry way but in an incredibly handsome way.
"y/n, how can i just forget the fact that i've been loving you for an eternity?" he asks, reaching for your hand this time.
you feel your heart race against your chest and your pulse quickens.
struggling to find words, Felix continues speaking for you.
"i want my rendezvous with you to last a lifetime, y/n. can't we get engaged?"
you blink up at him, the pretty prince who has, unbeknown to you, stolen your heart. and just like that, everything falls into place.
as much as your robin hood rendezvous with Felix has always been about giving back to the community, it was also a lovely excuse to see Felix. Felix, your friend, your first love.
how could you say no? how could you say no to him, when you'd never in your dreams imagine him proposing to you like this?
"Felix.. you really like me? this isn't some lie just to not hurt my feelings? are you just trying to make the old man sound right?" you ask.
Felix shakes his head, caressing your cheek.
"you... don't love anyone else?"
"now why would i, y/n? we've both been silly, ignoring all the signs. let's stop it now, if you're ready," he says.
the wind picks up and it sounds as if the universe is screaming, begging for you to say yes. and that's your sign. that's the engraving of the rendezvous in the universe. an eternal rendezvous.
the second you hug Felix and rest your head on his chest, he returns your embrace and cups the back of your head.
everything finally feels right. you can see it, a future together with Felix in the kingdom where the divide between royal and commoner will no longer be so wide.

You died.
They thought it was the end.
You live.
And it was only the beginning.
They always paint the roses red.
You despise it.
Thunder and lightning roared in the black sky as you lay inside the coffin. Hands together above your stomach with your favorite flowers and eyes closed in a deep slumber for eternity. The Prince stood a few meters away from the mourning family, his face filled with no evidence of sadness but loathe and displeasure. Hints of rain fell, and water droplets made wet circles on your red gown. They tossed red roses at you as the fire from the candles stopped burning. Lanterns were lit instead.
Your Mother was weeping with a white handkerchief to wipe her tears off as his husband remained still, staring at your lifeless body and the lord you married. They were all in despair as the rain poured harder. The priest said his condolences as the other relatives left the tomb yet seeing the Prince was more than a shock. Whispers and murmurs had his eyes followed their voices as his butler nudged him with an umbrella above his head. Your parents turned around and the lord一ashamed and scared.
“Your Highness, we should get back now,” His butler said. Your parents bowed to pay respect as the lord executed a nod. The Prince glared at him.
“It must be a heavy burden to come一”
“Leave us,” The Prince ordered, cutting your Mother’s sentence as his butler frowned in response. Your parents hesitated, even the lord. “Leave me and Y/n alone,” He ordered again.
“As you wish,” Your Father stated, gesturing the other two to follow him, yet the lord didn’t leave the Prince’s gaze.
“Your Highness the rain will pour harder anytime soon,” His butler insisted as the Prince sighed in disbelief.
“I said, leave us!” His voice was stern, and the butler immediately obliged, returning to the carriage. “Don’t wait for me and get back to the palace,”
“Yes, Your Majesty,” The butler bowed and left, even the funeral directors left the coffin open for him to see you one last time.
His footsteps became heavy each time he took a closer approach to the black coffin—one that it feels like a silver dagger pierced his chest. The sounds of grass being stepped on were heard as the rain made them fresh and soaked bit by bit. The Prince closed his eyes, forcedly shut in rage. He despised what happened to you. A harsh reality that strikes the wonder of your life and with all the pain and tears, he should have done something to save you. But he didn’t—devoured by heartbreak and anger, being forbidden to move and left to watch you die, his heart darkened.
The flowers slid away from your hands as he held them tight. Cold as ice, fragile as glass, weak as a bowing flower—his eyes never left yours. He caressed your cheek, feeling the peace of your slumber. Even in death, you are still beautiful in his eyes, but he fears what he will become when you are gone. He folded his knuckles as the veins came to hold tightly yet softened by the pain in his heart. If only he did something to protect you—only if he stepped out of the palace to talk, he never did. And it was too late, his precious red rose, gone in the hands of the man he was jealous of. His lips met your forehead—you will suffer no more but he knew someone must pay the price.
“I’ll make them regret this,” He said quietly as a tear fell from his eyes, but from sorrow and misery—his gaze turned dark, filled with hatred and regret.
The rain stopped unexpectedly as the clouds opened like curtains to reveal the big full moon directing its light on you. It was fascinating, bloody, and dark, the Prince looked up to the sky, claiming his natural form. The time he’s been waiting for, calling for taking what’s his and making them pay for what they have done to you. It was quiet and clear, the cold breeze of the wind gushing to the sadness. His brown eyes turned blood red, fangs visible on his teeth—the Prince needed to save you.
Tumblr media
A few months earlier,...
It was a normal day in the kingdom of Felly, rays of golden sunshine from dawn down to the sunset, rain mists softly—enough to nourish the grounds. A kingdom that is blessed with good resources, but cursed under the blood moon. Not too many folks talk about it in town as the royal family didn’t do any harm to the people. You were told stories before, and rumors around the kingdom that the Queen and a woman from the town gave birth on the same day in the same year. Two babies were born under a bright blood moon. One was born with immortality and one was born with a hint of royal blood.
Many believed that the royal family was cursed—they ruled the kingdom for centuries now. They were given immortality in the form of blood-sucking creatures. Others said they were blessed with that possession to maintain the goodness of their kingdom, to never make an outsider be King or Queen. To remain the order and pristine house of rules. Just like a Prince must marry a Princess, a Princess must marry a Prince. Royals are only for royals. You didn’t understand politics, you didn’t care but being a daughter of the Governor, you needed to learn them. But vampires? You were interested in that fiction.
Or so you thought, it was just fiction.
Afternoons were always spent in the garden, under the shade of an oak tree—reading fairy tales. Hardcovers with overwhelming pages amuse your entertainment. It was good for you to read, but it should be about politics and not fictitious love stories and adventures. An escape from a society filled with pressure and high standards. You never wanted other people to decide on what is going to happen in your life. But it always happens. Even if you were just reading a book. Your Mother’s head of maids is the one who brings books from the local library—some came from the towns nearby. She always tells you different stories that drown you in a world of fantasy and even make you believe in magic. But your parents tell you otherwise.
Sounds of women gushed around the mansion and the butlers were hurrying to assist the visitors. The Governor is always busy almost every afternoon as your Mother tries to make everything in order inside the household. You were told to get out of the way and study. But it seems like it doesn’t always have to be their decision to rule your life, do this and do that, study this and study that一you love art, you love reading, you love learning, but not politics. You get tired of it whenever your tutor from the other kingdom suffices. He’d told you everything but doesn’t meet your standards of the subject.
You shake your head in disappointment, you’ve been spacing out again. A great distraction from an exciting fighting scene in the middle of the ocean of two pirate ships. It was good to immerse yourself in books, nothing could beat traveling in your imagination and the author’s train of thoughts. You flipped the page to read the next chapter, wondering what happened next. It was a nice afternoon anyway, gentle heat and sunlight, the cool wind swaying with the leaves as the maids hurry for tea. It was a busy afternoon after all.
“Ah, welcome, Your Highness,” Your Father greeted the Great King and the Prince, Felid. “Thank you for visiting us in this old Chateau,” He bowed to the two with the most respect, a hand on his belly and the other one behind his back.
“Pleasure is all mine,” The King said, reaching out his hand for a shake. “I think we have a business to discuss, Governor,” The King resumed with a smile on his face.
“I believe there is,” Your Father said. “Let’s go to my office,”
“Is Y/n here?” The Prince suddenly interrupted before they could reach the stairs.
“I presume that she is,” He said. This perked the ears of the Prince, one that delighted with joy and an excited smile on his face.
“Can I see her, Father?” The Prince asked as the King chuckled with a nod.
“Well, yes, of course, Your Highness,” Your Father said with pleasure and honor. “She’s in the garden reading her old fairy tales,” He added, which made the Prince’s excitement grow.
“Why, a bookworm, that’s fascinating,” The King said, filled with amusement in the tone.
“I always tell her to read about diplomatic relations and governance but she chose a very distinguished fiction from an author’s imagination,” Your Father sighed, rubbing his temples.
“I believe it’s better than reality,” The Prince smirked. “Now then, if you’ll excuse me,”
Your Father only sighed in response, the Prince is your best friend after all and it was a privilege in the family to have the royals be a family friend. The King and the Governor had left for a meeting as your Mother sent orders to the maids while you were alone, reading in the garden一facing a horizon that leads to the sun setting down. An open field, enough to run around and play. The Prince directed his footsteps towards the oak tree, the hem of your dress was visible enough for him to notice. A color that resembles the sky and the white shade of the clouds, a mixture of the two that produces a relaxing tone for the eyes. He walked closer as he hides behind the tree, you were too indulged with the story to sense his presence. His eyes peek toward the words printed in the formal font of your book and read a few sentences before a smile crept on his lips. The Prince climbed up the tree and sat on a branch, enough to support his weight, and then;
“Hey, Y/n!!!” He beamed which made you squeal in shock. But the Prince only laughed at your priceless reaction and the way you jolted out of your spot making the book fly away.
“Your Highness!” You exclaimed, clutching your chest from the fast beating of your heart. “You scared me,”
“Did I?” He teased as you watched him hanging upside down with his forehead being exposed. “Sorry about that, I was so bored before we got here.” He said as he sat properly on the branch.
“No private classes for you today?” You asked, picking up your book a meter away.
“I asked to postpone them,” He said. “Nothing interests me nowadays, I already know them,”
“Good for you,” You sighed, taking your spot again as the Prince jumped beside you.
“You don’t have classes today I presume?” He asked, sitting beside you.
“Nah, my tutor didn’t come and I’m here reading a book the Headmistress gave me,” You smiled as the Prince leaned his head on your shoulder hugging your arm. It was normal for him to be that clingy, he is your friend for how many years after all. He was shy when you first met him at the palace when your Father claimed to be the Governor of Felly一it took a while before he warmed up to you. And that was six years ago.
“That seems to be a good book when you’re too occupied with it,” He said as you hum in response.
“Say, is The King inside talking with my Father?” You asked as he nodded, hugging your arm tighter, coming comfortable.
“The usual,” He sighs. “They are preparing the future of Felly when I become King,”
“Shouldn’t you be there at the meeting?” You asked opening the book to proceed.
“I asked if I could see you, my Father let me so here I am,” He smiled. “Why, you don’t want me here?” He teased which made you frown.
“It’s nothing like that Your Highness,” You said when he shake his head.
“Y/n, how many times do I have to repeat myself to call me Felix,” He chuckled as you smiled in response.
“Well, I must practice myself to call you that because you’re going to be King,” You said as he sat properly, hugging his knees. “Your Father might look for a bride for you,”
“Right,” He sighs. “But let’s not talk about that. It’s not going to happen anytime soon, I still have a lot of time being the Prince, yes?”
“Yes,” You smiled, leaning your back against the tree as Felix took the opportunity to lay his head on your lap. “You’re being comfortable,” You chuckled.
“I am comfortable around you,” He remarked. “So don’t mind me and continue reading, that’s an order, Milady,” He winked as you laughed, trying to get the sense of the book again.
Felix closed his eyes with a hand at the back of his neck and the other one rested on his stomach as you read. Your fingers traced his black locks, feeling the softness of the strands. It was good as your eyes scanned the words on a page while Felix lay comfortable, trying not to pursue a smile. He wouldn’t hide the fact that he always forgets his worries every time he is with you, not a single political problem comes up when he sees you smile or when he touches your hand. It feels like he couldn’t hear anything else when you speak, it was only your voice he wanted to listen to. But that doesn’t always come to exist. He knew he’d be in an arranged marriage soon and it will stop him from seeing you ever again. Sooner or later.
A sigh escaped your lips trying to figure out what was going to happen next. But his presence took your attention. The gentle sunlight was directed to his face as it shows the constellation-like freckles that cover the skin under his eyes. Soft sounds of his breathing were heard as he took a nap while lying on your lap. He is at peace and seems comfortable with his spot, one where you could see the entire galaxy in his beauty. The wind blows his hair as the strands dance with them, he looks so beautiful—even when he does nothing and sleeps there. You held your book down to cover his face, thinking that the light will distract his sleep. One fact you had learned was to let the dark seek your eyes before sleeping to have a good slumber, but it wasn’t the case for him. A smile surfaced on your lips, seeing him so quiet and demure, an ethereal sight of a young man that indicates light and hope. It made your heart pound.
Placing the closed book on the space beside you, Felix moved a bit to ease his lying position. You find it adorable as you decided to play with his soft black locks with your fingers. The Prince felt at ease and melted under your touch. He flickered his eyes open as you stroked his hair, smiling at the sight of you. The thumping of your heart is loud enough for him to hear, and the smile you have on your face is crystal clear in his sight. He could feel the warmth of your touch, one that he wanted to feel for a long period of time. It was obvious that he is so in love with the idea of you, everything about you. Six years of adorning friendship that leads to one that looks at the other full of administration and awe or it were how someone gives butterflies in their stomach even when it was only caused by the slightest thing they do. It painted memories that can be placed on an empty canvas, later filled with bright colors and nostalgia.
Felix held your hand as he placed it on his cheek. Your thumb starts to caress his soft skin and then traces the stars imprinted on his cheeks. His lips met your palm, feeling the warm touch and the skinship—it wasn’t for some best friends to do. But a spark illuminates the picture of being afraid to tell one how the other feels. His smile never faded as much as yours, and fingers interlocked within a second. Your free hand fixed his bangs that made his smile grow bigger. A sweet gesture that made his heart beat go wild.
“I’m going to melt, Y/n,” Felix said as you chuckled in response.
“Says the one who stares at me the way I stare at them,” You remarked when Felix sat up to fix his clothes. “You shouldn’t be lying on the ground, it will get that expensive fabric of yours some dirt.”
“Oh, I can’t help but be clingy with you,” He said.
“You know I love it when you’re so close to me,” You smiled. “It makes me forget about how harsh the reality it is than the ones you’ve read in books,”
“My precious Y/n,” He awed with a hand on your cheek. “You will always have me, okay? Even if I get married to someone else, I’m not leaving you behind.” You didn’t know why it hurt you when he said that. It was something like a knife being pushed inside your chest, or you wanted to shed a tear from the code. But you can’t. Six years weren’t enough for Felix either. He wanted something more than this, yet, practical is what should be followed. No other option left.
“You’re always precious to me, Your Highness,” You smiled as Felix sighed in disbelief (in a playful way).
“Y/n, it’s Felix, okay? I am Felix, for you!” He exclaimed and you just had to laugh it out with him. “But seriously, we’ve been friends for a long time,” He whined.
“Okay, okay, Felix,” You said, which made his heart want to flip inside his chest. “Felix,”
“Yes?” He gulped, not wanting to go feral with you calling his name.
“I just wanted to say your name,” You said as he softened his expression before he placed a soft kiss on your forehead and hugged you tightly.
“Just say my name,”
A few days passed by, and the same lectures were given by your private tutor. One that always happens in the small library. His classes were good enough to make you understand things, but the subject itself is the one you hate. Neat papers filled with words written with ink, books from different constitutions piled at the other side of the table. He reads a book out loud as you take notes while seated in front of your study desk. You listened diligently, trying to comprehend every word. Each sentence feels like a brick fell from tearing a tower, how many times do you have to mention it to yourself that you hate politics? But the tutor smiled at you before flipping a page on the book.
Living in this century seems to be a little weird anyway.
It was a sunny morning, your parents left early for a gathering as the Headmistress will be the one in charge of all your classes today. The tutor wanted to keep your attention in class knowing they won’t be home anytime soon but you wonder what the Prince was doing. A sigh escaped your lips as the tutor stopped in the middle of the written sentence, glancing at you. He cleared his throat and closed the book with a gentle thump, making you bite your lower lip. The pen fell on the paper after writing a period. You can’t seem to focus by then.
“Is everything alright?” He asked as you shake your head quickly.
“I’m sorry, Mr. Choi,” You said as he nodded in response which took him a few seconds before opening his mouth.
“Well, your assignments are good, I can tell how much you improved from the previous classes, very detailed learnings perhaps,” He said, clasping his hands together. “What seems to be distracting you?”
“Nothing,” You defended when he sighed, taking off his glasses and packing his things back into his bag.
“Y/n, I know you despise this class so much but your Father expects too much from you so let’s endure the pain while it lasts,” He said as you nodded gently.
“Yes, Professor,” You said quietly with a sad tone.
“Let’s call it a day and I’ll see you next week okay? I will not give you anything to write for the rest of the week but please do read these,” He answered referring to the book being piled on your table.
“Did he tell you I am a disappointment in this family?” You asked, stopping him. “Because I was born a girl and he was expecting a son, Mother can’t give birth anymore because of her health, yet they still make decisions for me without my permission,”
“I understand your sentiment in that, but being a woman is noble and learning things is powerful,” He said. “Y/n, you are never a disappointment, I believe in you, okay?”
“Thank you, Professor,” You smiled gently.
“Please, do call me Yeonjun,” He said with a smile in return. “I’ll be off now, see you next week Milady,” He added, taking a formal bow as you stood up from your seat一walking with him outside.
You stood by the door, seeing him take his carriage and left the Chateau. Another sigh escaped your lips watching him disappear from your sight. It was good to spend the mornings with Yeonjun’s political science class but what excites you the most is when your parents are out the whole day. You had the privilege to do anything you want with the maids tailing you, read tons of books一eat anything in the kitchen, horseback riding around the Chateau. It gives you peace and joy, yet the thoughts of Felix keep knocking inside your mind. The Prince must be busy with his education and training to be King someday and you were just waiting for someone to arrive and ask your hand in marriage. Yet, you always despise the idea of it.
Arranged marriages are common in the kingdom and if they were lucky, they marry for love. Felix was awed by the fact that the Prince of Minnister managed to marry the Princess of Christark instead of the one who was fixed to be his bride. Even the Prince of Targarhyun married for love, he always believed he will experience the same thing. You shake your head as you take your horse for a walk around the Chateau, it was huge enough to take a stroll. The sun was high and the wind is friendly to take a run outside. You declined reading a book, for now, it was something that makes your head think a lot of things. Being alone is what you needed the most. The dining area was too peaceful with you eating alone, even the hallways were empty and the maids had their jobs to keep.
Being the only child is not always what the others capture to be fun.
The night came and the horse of your family’s carriage neighed the way in front of the entrance as you were sitting on the window seat in your room, ended up reading the next chapter of Professor Yeonjun’s lesson. The Headmistress was standing by the front deck when you saw another carriage following yours. With knitted brows, you stayed by the window holding the curtains aside. Your parents went off the carriage first and waited for the other passengers to get off. They were all smiles and laughed when you recognized the visitors. You watch them enter the Chateau as a young man, probably the son of the family who came, had his eyes in your direction. A smirk pursues his face一there must be something going on. And that’s when you heard a knock on your door.
“Miss, the Governor, and the Lady have arrived,” One of your maids said the moment they entered your room. “You have visitors,”
“Who are they?” You asked, standing up from the seat.
“The Duke and Duchess of the West, with their son, Lord Gunil,” They said. “They’re expecting you to dinner, Milady,”
“Sure, I’ll be there,” You said, dismissing the maid as they bowed and left the room.
A sigh of disbelief escaped your lips as you look at yourself in the mirror, fearing there might be something wrong by the time you stepped inside the dining area. Taking a deep breath, you left the room with your heart beating faster一you doubt it is a thing you need to worry about. You walked out of your room with a maid and a butler behind you. They must know something, it was silent enough to bother your existence and everyone is already settled down in their seats and stood up to greet you. Excited smiles from the visitors, even your parents, it was painted with bright colors but not to Gunil. He was just staring without amusement.
“Good evening, Milady,” The Duke greeted as the Duchess and the Lord bowed.
“Good evening,” You greeted back, taking a glance at your parents who have their hopes high.
“Take a seat and have dinner, then we will discuss our agenda. Shall we?” Your Father said as everyone take their seats again.
It was only the banging sound of the silverware on the dishes that were heard as the maids served the food. Everything was all silent, no voices were meant to talk as you could feel Lord Gunil’s eyes looking at you. The Duke and Duchess started to compliment the food and your Mother was delighted. You became uncomfortable with the sudden interaction as you take as much food as possible. He could only smirk and shake his head, eating the steak on his plate. You bit your lip after swallowing your food. He is handsome, you admit yet you wonder what would Felix will think if you tell him.
“Tell me Miss Y/n, what do you do in your free time?” The Duke suddenly asked, taking your attention from the delicious food.
“I read books in the library and Professor Choi’s lectures in Political Science,” You started. “I also do horseback riding around the Chateau and play the piano,”
“Oh, that’s fascinating, our Gunil loves playing instruments as well,” The Duchess suddenly interrupted.
“I see,” You answered nervously, taking a spoon full of food.
“I guess Y/n and Lord Gunil will get along with each other well,” The Governor said as your Mother smiled in support. A quiet sigh escaped your lips when you knew where this is going to lead. “Perhaps we could discuss their engagement?”
“Engagement?” You asked as your heart sank.
“We are delighted to say that we are going to have you in a fixed marriage with our son, dear,” The Duchess said which made you stand up from your seat.
“What?!” You exclaimed out of shock and anger. “You didn’t tell me,” You said, looking at your parents as the other family watch you. Not minding the stares of disbelief.
“It was supposed to be a surprise and it is!” The Governor beamed. “I and your mother talked with the Goo family since last year and today we decided to declare it as what it is,”
“You decided this without my permission? How would you know about how I feel with this surprise of yours eh, Father?” You snapped back which made Gunil smirk again, rolling his eyes.
“Goodness, Y/n, where are your manners?” Your Mother interrupted.
“Take it easy, you do owe her an explanation.” The Duke said.
“Y/n, sit down.” The Governor said as you hissed underneath your breath and sat down against your will. “Your Mother and I, even the Goo family have been planning this marriage ever since you were born, we talked last year about this to have it official. It will be good to have a Lord as your husband一I will also be a benefit for this family and even when you are part of the Parliament.”
“Listen to your Father dear,” Your Mother said. “It’s for the strong bond,”
“You mean power,” You scoffed.
“Y/n!”
“No!” You said banging your fist on the table before jolting out of your seat一leaving the dining area. The Governor sighed in disbelief as your Mother tried to cover the embarrassment.
“Let me talk to her,” Gunil said wiping his lips and went to follow you.
“After all, I’ve done for her,” The Governor scoffed as his wife held his hand.
“Let’s give the children some time,” The Duchess said as the Duke nodded.
“Let Gunil have a chance,”
Groaning at the thought of it, a loud bang of the door closing was heard. The maid and the butler were kept out of the room when Gunil showed up a few seconds before you could shut it in front of his face. You were fuming inside, one that you wanted to blow everything away. How could they do this to you? They didn’t even tell you anything一even the marriage. You didn’t even know Gunil very well. Everything is fucked up already.
You hissed under your breath, cursing at the situation right now as your hands came attached to your waist as you walked back and forth around your room. All, expecting to be it was a sick joke but nothing! Another sigh came out from your lips for the nth time of the day, it is a surprise. It surprised you, with disappointment. But suddenly, a knock came through your door. You weren’t in the mood to take visitors again, an arranged marriage news is already too much to take.
“Who is it?” You asked.
“It’s me, Gunil,” The voice said. “May I come in?” He added, but you hesitated, still, you didn’t have a choice but let him in.
“What do you want?” You asked, not wanting to sound rude.
“I’m going to talk some sense with you,” He started as you turned away to face the window, hugging yourself from the bitterness you felt. “Listen, love, they did a mistake for not telling you sooner but even if you protest, I’m already tied up with you, yes? There’s nothing you can do to change it.” He chuckled as you roll your eyes.
“I don’t want to marry you,” You said which made him smirk.
“Too bad you can’t run away from it, love,” He said, taking a few steps towards you.
“What if I can?” You protested facing him, when he pinned you on the window, looking at your eyes with a stern expression that made your heart race in fear.
“I can’t let you get away with this,” He said with his low voice, enough to send shivers down your spine. “You are going to marry me, whether you like it or not,” He whispered before blowing gently in your ear and plastering a wicked smile before leaving your room.
You fell on your window seat, clutching your chest in response to what just happened. That Lord is a jerk and it made you hate your parents more. Your knuckles turned white from forcing them into a closed fist. This is not what you wanted for yourself, studying Political Science and being pushed towards something you don’t like is already too much. You knew you have to do something with this, a plan that might stop this madness. Tears started to form in your eyes, trying to process everything. You can’t marry that man, you just can’t.
Meanwhile, the Prince was looking at the bright moon from his balcony. The light illuminates the dark sky and the stars shining and glimmering with it. He was feeling the cold breeze of the wind as he closed his eyes, letting him take his moment of peace. Yet he still worries about something, he hadn’t seen you for days一he misses you despite his busy subjects. Not a moment he doesn’t think of you. Every day becomes more hectic than usual, the Prince has been preparing for a royal ball that will happen next month, it is a celebration for the King’s birthday一and a way for him to find a bride. A sigh escaped his lips, sharp claws started to appear on his hands as his eyes turned red and fangs grew in his teeth. He doesn’t want anything even if he already knew that he is destined to marry a princess by the end of the day, he wanted something else.
The Prince let the moon envelop his presence and make his pale skin glimmer along with stars. It always happens when the full moon strikes his body一and there’s nothing above his control. He learned that the hard way. Being a member of the royal family and being blessed by immortality is a privilege, one that it could only be done by good and use the power in anything but evil. But everyone fears what a blood-sucking creature can do. A vampire who doesn’t always satisfy his cravings enough for just animals’ blood. Not everyone in Felly is a vampire, not, but the royal family only.
Behind those gentle smiles and sense of nobility in public一even the way he looks at you and learns to control his lust for blood, the Prince is still young to learn everything. Even the King and Queen get worried, for how like a monster is seated on the throne. People believed the curse, some say they are harmless because they rule the kingdom well and there had been no casualties during the past decades. No one from the royal family risked their lives for hunger, but that someone might break the rules. And if one decided to take part in killing a human for its blood or not, they will face the consequences, even death.
The Prince looked at the moon again as his claws scratched the railings, not a moment after, his eyes shut forcefully. He wouldn’t want to end the royal family’s code. But why does your blood smell so good that he had to prevent himself from killing you? Being a good friend of his isn’t the answer. He loves you and he would never try to do anything that will make him lose you.
“Sire,” Someone said from behind him.
“Yes?” Felix answered in his deep voice. “Did you bring me any news?”
“Y/n seems to be distracted today,” Felix opened his eyes and turned around to see his spy. A vampire himself.
“Is it something I should worry about?” He asked as the man nodded.
“I believe it is about the Governor,” The man said as Felix sighed in response.
“She’ll come to me,” He said. “You can go now, Yeonjun hyung,”
“Have a good evening, Your Highness,” Yeonjun said and disappeared, leaving Felix alone. His gaze went to the Chateau from afar, the glowing lights from the windows indicated you were still awake.
“I wonder what’s happening, Y/n,” He said to himself, watching the candle lights flicker at the windows until one of them dies.
You didn’t sleep well during the past few days ever since the announcement of your engagement. Books were left eating clouds of dust in the library and the reading materials were untouched. No motivation to read anything that sparks up your imagination. It was supposed to be improving your skills in Professor Park’s lecture but nothing happened. You lie awake that one night, staring at the ceiling wondering how would you tell the Prince about this. He was hoping you’d be the one to choose who you want to marry. The maids got worried when you are not eating properly, the Governor seems unable to notice but your Mother would force you to eat. But you keep resisting and lock yourself inside your room the whole day, keeping everyone away. Silence envelopes the atmosphere at every family dinner, your Mother hesitates as the Governor is looking forward to the celebration.
A long deep sigh escaped your lips, uninterested in the new chapter the Professor was talking about. The pen ticks with the paper now and then, and Yeonjun got distracted by the damsel in distress. He watched you get bored as your face indicated how weak you were. The lecture notes he gave didn’t even leave the place where he left them last week. His eyes wander around before taking his respective seat, clearing his throat to earn your attention.
“I thought we are having a class today?” He asked.
“I’m sorry Professor,” You sighed in response. “I’m just not in the mood,”
“And by what is the cause of this, not in the mood thing?” He asked again clasping his hands together on his knees.
“I don’t know how to tell you,” You sighed again.
“You don’t have to tell me,” He smiled. Yeonjun has been teaching you Political Science for months now and it was easy to warm up to him with his decent and friendly personality. Yet, you are still hesitant to tell him everything even if you feel like he’s been a good older brother to you. Even if telling him might ease the burden you felt, he couldn’t help you get out of the situation anyway. You shake your head at him and forced a smile, it was something for him to be worried about especially when he notices every single detail you do.
“My parents hadn’t told you yet?” You asked as he shake his head.
“No, care to tell me?”
“I’m getting married,” You said which made him freeze on his spot. It was a piece of big news but wasn’t unexpected. A sigh escaped his lips, massaging his glabella一he definitely knew the Governor was up to something. “They just told me last week,”
“How do you feel about this?” He asked, brows knitted in disappointment.
“I felt betrayed,” You said quietly. “They didn’t give me a heads up about it, no one, it just popped out!” You cried. “I don’t know what to do, it’s the Duke and Duchess of the West一”
“Hold on,” He said, stopping you in the middle of the sentence. “It’s Lord Gunil, isn’t it?” He asked.
“Yes,” You sniffled. “He’s a fucking jerk! Did you know what he told me? He said I’m going to marry him whether I like it or not! Fuck!”
“Milady, calm down, I understand how hard it is for you, but let us remain calm,” He said as you slammed your fists on the table making him flinch on his spot. “Y/n,”
“Fine!” You hissed, standing up from your seat. “I can’t let them do this to me.” You added with a deep sigh. “I can’t marry someone I don’t love,”
“Did your parents know?” Yeonjun asked again as you shake your head.
“They don’t care,”
“Good gracious, Professor Yeonjun, this is supposed to be a class!” A voice said as it enters the library, your Mother. “You are in no position to deal with family issues, your class is done for the day, Y/n, go to the hall and play the piano for your practice. This commotion shall not reach your Father, understood?” Your Mother ordered with a stern look on her face and you were about to protest but Yeonjun already bowed to apologize before leaving the library.
“Professor, wait!” You exclaimed as your Mother blocked your way.
“Into the hall, now!” She said as you glared at her, pushing her out of the way一running after Yeonjun.
“Yeonjun, please wait!” You yelled again as you reached the main entrance.
“I’m sorry Milady, let’s see each other for your next class. I have to get back to work now,” He said, opening the carriage’s door.
“Please help me with this,” You pleaded, taking his hand.
“I can’t offer a solution for now,” He sighs in response. “Your Mother’s right, I have no right to intrude with your family issues, I’m sorry,” He said taking your hand away and bowed again as he left with the carriage.
The sounds of the piano came horribly as if you were looking at the keys with pure hatred and disgust. It was supposed to be a good piece that you always love but it turns out to be more aggressive than smooth. Yeonjun is one of the only chances you could get away with the unwanted engagement as you feel ashamed talking to the Prince about this even if he is your very close friend. Felix already has a lot on his plate, his princely duties, training to be the next heir to the throne, and classes. The engagement was already planned ahead for the weekend, and it was something that you shouldn’t look forward to. It only made the music piece go out of tune which made your Mother rage at the melody.
“Again!” She ordered as you tried to remain calm.
You repeated the music again, the very first note down to the last. It was better than the first one—a forced piece of soothing melody from a grudge of a lady. Your Mother seems to enjoy your skills of playing the piano, a hobby of yours ever since your childhood embarked on great talent, aside from reading at a fast pace from reading almost all of the books from the library. It was relaxing, yes, but you don’t enjoy the things you used to because of the standards your parents have. And to marry a Lord for power and wealth, they have already taken away your freedom.
“Good, you will play this piece for your engagement party this Saturday afternoon,” She smiled and left the hall, leaving you slamming your hands on keys causing it to release a piece of distressing music. Your nails dug at the ivory, scratching them out of the blue making your maids flinch in fear.
“Get me the Messenger now,” You ordered, standing up from your seat. “Right now!”
“Yes, Miss!” One of the maids said and ran to fetch him.
The night fell by the next day—you headed for the stables to fetch your house. Everyone was asleep, but not your butler and the maid. It was dark outside, with no source of light but the lamp your maid was holding. The Butler was the lookout even though they didn’t like the idea of this. Yet, it was the only way to escape to see the Prince. After the messenger appeared in the Chateau with an envelope in his hands that had the Felly’s seal on it, you knew the Prince wanted to see you urgently. Your noble steed gushed like the wind as you both left the grounds, the Maid and the Butler will cover for you until you come back. But you knew it wouldn’t last, they will find you anyway. The engagement party is in two days, you might be able to spend time with Felix in preparation for the wedding later. Your horse neighs as it reached the streets heading to the old farmhouse by the lake. A landmark that states near the border of Felly. The moon is shining brightly again, never in Felly had it dark—a spell controls it as it gives more power to the royals. A source of intimate beauty and gives life to immortality.
Sounds of the hooves hit the grounds, enough to awaken the attention of Gunil from his manor. His eyes landed on the maiden, running across the streets with a familiar face. Curiosity fell as he glanced at the moon—a good time to play outside. The farmhouse was already in sight with Felix’s horse, eating grass around it. A sigh of relief escaped from your lips as you smiled, halting your horse beside the Prince’s noble steed. You landed on your feet, running towards the entrance, and saw nothing on the ground floor. It was dark inside, broken pieces of wood and machines welcomed you, even the clouds of dust. Every particle was visible enough to say this was already abandoned. But not tonight.
“Felix?” You called, lifting your skirt to get into the second floor. The Prince was delighted to see you, excitement riled his face the moment he heard your voice.
“Up here Y/n,” He answered, looking down from the railings by the second floor, enough to take a picture of you.
“Thank goodness you came,” You said, hugging him after reaching the floor as the Prince welcomed you with a hug.
“You wished to see me, I can’t say no,” He said, chuckling as he hugged you tighter.
“I haven’t seen you for almost two weeks now,” You said.
“I’m sorry, life happened to me,” Felix said, pulling away from the hug. “How are you, love?” He added, caressing your cheek.
“I haven’t been well,” You sighed softly in response, melting under his touch. His hands were always cold as he find warmth in you.
“Did something happen while I was away?” He asked in a worried tone.
“I didn’t know how to tell you,” You said as your eyes met his. “The Governor and my Mother had an agreement with the Duke and Duchess of the West, I’m marrying Lord Gunil,” Felix stopped in his tracks, he knew this was coming anyway. But the pain in his heart is one he cannot hide on the dark side of the moon. He took a step backward, trying to process the sudden confession at most. A disappointed sigh escaped from his lips as he turned his back from you. It was big news to him.
“The Governor did mention about this when he came this morning at the palace,” Felix said. “Do you want to marry him?” He added, finally facing towards you.
“No!” You exclaimed as Gunil was already sitting on a branch that belongs to an old oak tree, a few meters from the farmhouse. Eyes darkened at the sight of you and the Prince.
“Why?” Felix asked.
“I wanted someone else,” You said but it only lead Felix to fall into silence. “Felix I can’t marry someone I don’t love and for goodness sake, he is a jerk!”
“I know,” Felix hissed. “I don’t have a chance, aren’t I?”
“What do you mean—good heavens!” You exclaimed. “Felix, I’m not going to reject you! Did you just—hypothetically—tell me, you like me?”
“I always do,” He said quietly. “But I can’t risk you to be with me Y/n,” He added, closing his eyes, folding his knuckles. “And you don’t feel the same as I do,”
“There’s not a moment I didn’t think of you,” You said. “From the minute I knew I was going to marry Lord Gunil, all I thought about was you!” Gunil thought it was a surprise, he knew something was wrong. But he fled back to the manor, a good reason to ruin your reputation. A smirk formed on his face, he might enjoy the arrangement for a while. “And why can’t I be with you? Is it because you’re a royal and I’m not?”
“No!” Felix exclaimed. “I can break the rules if I wanted to Y/n,” He said, tears starting to form in his eyes. “It’s too dangerous for you,”
“My life has always been,” You said, holding his hand. “I love you,” Felix looked at you.
“You don’t know what you’re diving into,” He said.
“Just tell me,” You said softly, but only his lips met yours—his hands wrapped around your waist while yours rested on his shoulders. It was intimate, one that you wanted to last. His lips tasted like red wine, it felt soft and gentle, full of longingness and touch. Felix knew this was wrong, but you wanted to risk it. The Prince kissed your forehead as he took you into his arms again. “What am I going to do?” You said quietly, sobbing on his chest.
“We’ll figure something out, okay?” He said.
“That household is suffocating me to death, I am not free,” You said. “Can’t I just be with you, even if we keep it a secret?” You asked, so desperate enough to lure Felix. But he shook his head, kissing you again.
“If I could,” He whispered. “But you have to do what I need you to do while I figure out something to get you out of this mess, okay?” He said as you nodded eagerly.
“Okay,” You said quietly.
“You have to pretend that everything is okay, I’ll meet you here at the same time after your engagement party,” He said, holding your hands tightly. “I have to tell you something by then,”
“Are you going to the party?” You asked as he nodded in response.
“Yes, I wouldn’t miss it,” He said as you came to hug him again. “I love you,”
The day of the engagement came in a blink of an eye. Everyone was busy that morning as you were in your room with your maids, picking a dress to wear for later. They were doing your hair first—Yeonjun surprisingly came to help you choose one of those dresses. You were all smiley, but you can’t help but notice Gunil’s unamused stares that could reach through your soul. He’s been around the Chateau for two days for the purpose of getting to know you more. But it didn’t happen the way everyone expects. You ignored him as much as he ignored you. With all that death glares exchanged, the way he holds your hand tightly that can leave marks, it was the way he threatens you that he knows something—still it made you loathe him more. You tried not to mind him but the fact that he’s going to be your fiance in less than a few hours makes it worse. It will be only Felix that finds a spot for your happiness and seeing him today might comfort you.
His cold hands felt warm and his hugs were good enough to make you feel cozy, the scent of him still lingers in your nose. Being in love with the Prince fell to be a risk—six years of friendship didn’t suffice. It was innocent at first, one that the two get shy during the first meeting but ended up having a conversation that sparks each other’s interest. And by the moment he locked eyes with you, the sweet scent of your blood—he knew you were the one he needed to take. Yet it was no use when he could only keep you close and not sentenced you to marry. Even you, being tied up to someone else, is already living in hell. Fate wanted to play the game, anyway.
A vintage sage green gown with a mixture of white and silver enveloped your body. The maids were awed by the sight of such a beautiful young woman. Even Yeonjun was stunned, the Prince would be delighted to see you later but the dress was not for his occasion. The garden is already settled with tables and chairs, the gazebo is decorated with white roses and ribbons, and even the piano was seated beside it. Your Mother was in charge of the preparations and the Governor invited noblemen and women, especially the royal family. It made you stare at the busy people down below, a party you never asked for—an engagement with the person you loathe together with your toxic parents. If only you could run away in peace, but Felix’s words made you trust him. Pretend.
“Miss, the visitors are starting to arrive,” Your Butler said as you glanced at Yeonjun.
“He promised to come,” Yeonjun said as you gave them a nod.
“Lord Gunil?” You asked.
“He’s with his parents in the garden, Milady,” The Butler answered. “He’s been waiting for you.”
“Please tell him I’m almost there,” You said dismissing the Butler as Yeonjun bowed to leave as well. Your Mother came to attend and the rest of the maids went off.
“You look beautiful, darling,” She said as you faked a smile, not saying anything.
The garden was packed with the nobles and the relatives of the royal family. A gathering that was worthy of joy and celebration, the Governor was happy as the Duke and Duchess. You stood beside Lord Gunil, one who had your hand wrapped on his arm as he talked to the noblewomen—admiring his own beauty. But that didn’t amuse or make an intriguing segway, it was the Prince you were looking for. You hated gatherings anyway. A waste of time of unwanted moments with such unwanted people.
“Announcing the arrival of the King and Queen, and the Prince of Felly!”
It bears a smile on your face, but Gunil holds you closer to him—stopping your presence in front of the Prince. His grip was tight that made you glare at him but it was no use, he was already smiling as if he had known something. It caught the Prince’s eyes while the King and Queen were entertained by the Governor. You could feel Felix’s dark gaze at the man you were about to marry. His knuckles turned white, trying to hold himself from anger. The Prince didn’t want to ruin the party. You turned your gaze to him, but he just took a glass of wine, drinking it full all the way down his throat. His brown eyes gave a hint of red as Gunil locked his gaze with the former.
“You must stay close,” Gunil whispered. “You are marrying me, not the Prince.”
You wanted to get away from his grip, but the more you went against it, the more he didn’t want you to escape. Everyone was enjoying their time at least, but not the ones who exchanged dark glances at each other as you hung your head low. The women danced with their men on the dancefloor, sharing laughs and flattery as others tried the wine and champagne—cakes and other food from the buffet, children playing and the orchestra singing. It was beautiful in everyone’s eyes, and the Prince was catching the women’s attention for his ethereal beauty. He walks slowly by the tables, hands on his back, and his eyes never left your image. Gunil never left your side either and the growing impatience of the Prince never settled. Felix sat down at one of the empty tables, asking for another glass of wine—watching every single move you and Gunil make.
“I shall die before marrying you,” You said, protesting at him.
“And I will kill you if you don’t,” He said in a low monotonous voice.
“Fuck you,” You hissed as his eyes hinted the color red, staring at you, reaching through your soul. Maybe your eyes were just tricking you or the sun was about to set.
“As I said, Y/n, you will marry me whether you like it or not,” He said. “I didn’t ask for this marriage, love, but if you want to save your parents’ reputation, you will not decline.”
“What?” You asked, puzzled by his sudden confession. “What is that supposed to mean?”
“Oh, they didn’t tell you?” He smirked.
“Tell me you fucking bastard!” You hissed but he just chuckled in response. It made you grow impatient as well—but he didn’t even budge until the signal for the official dance started. That was when he dragged you to the dancefloor as Felix watched you at the center. Gunil was doing a good lead, a skillful son of ceremonial dancing but you weren’t amused at anything. The Prince joined the dancefloor, exchanging partners was required, Gunil spun you around and let go of your hand, Felix then, the first man to catch your dance. But you could still feel how he throws daggers on your back, one that makes you stiff while holding Felix’s hand.
“Are you alright?” Felix asked, waltzing with you. “Is he threatening you?”
“It’s nothing, Felix, don’t worry,” You managed a smile but the Prince didn’t believe it.
“Do you wish to tell me?” He asked again as you sigh in response.
“I will, I just need to figure things out myself,” You said as another man took you to dance and Felix ended up with another woman.
The worry in your eyes was visible, but the curiosity led to another. You looked at Gunil who was smiling at the maiden he was dancing with, so innocent but vile. Fuck that filthy man. Everyone was loving him too, but Felix is the only one you see, even if you were dancing with a random stranger—a noble you didn’t know was a relative. The Prince tends to think about it as well, what on earth did Gunil mean anyway?
Another man took you for a dance, he will be the last one before you could go back to Gunil. Small and shy smiles were shared, but the excitement vanished when he held your body again. A face of disgust and anger, the Lord expected it from you but he managed a smile. Felix was left dumbfounded and went out of the dancefloor. The sun was about to set and the dance was cut off by announcing the proposal that will be held in five minutes. You pushed Gunil away, glaring at him as if you’d despised him ever since your birth. But the latter stood away, still growing that sly smile he had.
“Meet me at the gazebo in 5 minutes,” He said. “Better say yes,” He added, clearing his throat before leaving you.
“That wicked bloke.” You hissed as you were about to step away from the dancefloor when Felix pulled you into the bushes, hiding from everyone. “What are you doing?” You asked.
“I wanted to know if you were okay,” He said, caressing your cheeks.
“I don’t know,” You said. “I think I’m going mad,”
“What happened?” He asked as you looked at him.
“It’s something about my parents, I don’t know,” You said, worriedly. Felix glanced at the Lord who was drinking a glass of champagne near the gazebo. Black rings adorning his fingers, a golden cross necklace around his neck, and a conceited indication of his position. He returned Felix’s gaze and finished his drink—whispering something on the Butler beside him.
“Meet me at the farmhouse when everyone is asleep, you have to know something,” He said.
“Everyone is keeping secrets from me, Felix, not you too,” You said, trembling at the thought.
“Right now is not the right time,” He pleaded.
“Do I have to say yes?” You asked him, holding his hand tightly. “I’m scared,”
“Say yes, I’ll take care of it later, alright?” Felix reassured, kissing your forehead as the announcer yelled for everyone to gather. “I’m not going to leave you,”
You gave Felix a tight hug before your Maid could find you, assisting your way towards the gazebo. Everyone was watching and the painter was capturing a once-in-a-lifetime event of your life, perhaps you were doing it with the wrong person. Your parents were holding each other dearly, as the Duke and Duchess were all smiles. Seeing Gunil is down on one knee, he looked sincere with his posture as he hold your hands gently. Felix isn’t having it—he doesn’t have the power to stop such an occasion. Even the King and Queen seem to be buying the party, one that they congratulated the Governor for doing so. But for what purpose did this engagement exist?
The music goes on smoothly, your Mother told you to act shocked and smile with pure innocence. You hated it, the Governor as well as Gunil’s parents were anticipating the right moment. Felix signaled his hand for Yeonjun to come closer, a task that only a vampire can do for now. Everyone suddenly clapped to you and Gunil, one that made him chuckle, fake. Standing there is the start of the steps to getting married. Felix looked at you, worried at the sight that you are going to be tied up with a bad menace. He held his knuckles tightly—he wanted to cause chaos.
“Fate brought us here, and I believe our meeting is not an accident and this engagement will be the start of our blooming relationship. Will, you give me the chance to love and take care of you, starting right now to the day we exchange our vows—(your full name), will you be my wife?” Gunil said which made you chuckle in response. Anyone would think it was a result of being flattered but it was so much more than that. It took you a while to give an answer as you glance at the audience anticipating for you to say yes. The Governor is impatient as the Lady signals you to go through—the Duke and Duchess didn’t seem to be bothered at all. You don’t like any one of them after all.
Gunil held your hand tightly, eyes glaring at you yet only a sly smile plastered on your lips.
“Don’t make me wait,” He mouthed at you, tightening his grip that made you prevented to make a sound. You wanted to protest and slap him square in the face, but like what Felix has said, pretend.
“I’m not making you wait,” You said.
“What’s taking you so long then?” He smirked as you giggled again.
“Yes!” You exclaimed, smiling at everyone and then back to him. “Filthy Lord,” You whispered.
“You better watch that mouth of yours darling,” He hissed.
“You want to rip it? Go ahead,” You glared at him.
“You definitely know nothing, woman,” He said, walking away.
The celebration comes after when you played the piano for the guest. But instead of the soothing music you’ve been practicing in front of your Mother, it was a music of a masquerade ball under the presence of a dark aura. Felix loved the tune, Gunil was amused as the Duke and Duchess you felt something was wrong—your Mother raged on their table but some of the guests were dancing, regaining a memory they had in the past. You looked at Felix as he bowed at you before leaving the Chateau, but the King and Queen stayed until the night fell when everyone drink and eat for a feast. The loud whines and cheers from the dining hall were heard as they all whipped with joy—it will be probably the same as the wedding day—all are happy, all are overwhelmed, except you.
Yeonjun stayed behind as you walked back to your room after an exhausting day. Gunil was walking you back to your room, silence all above the surface, and a distance was kept. The sight of your door emerged by the 2nd floor.
“You can go now,” You said, wanting to get out of his presence as you held the doorknob.
“If you wish to cheat on me with the Prince, better not make it obvious,” He said, making you halt. “You don’t know what trouble you will cause when they find out Y/n,”
“What are you up to?” You said facing him again.
“Your Father made a deal with a blood-sucking creature,” He smirked. “He wanted to gain power in the palace, and you are a perfect trade,” He added, caressing your cheek. “You better not run away from me love,” You felt his hands, and slowly traced your cheeks, it was gentle and cold, but his eyes were never meant to be good. They were red, and as his fangs were sharp, they made you freeze on the spot that send shivers down the spine. “I could kill you right now, and your lovely Prince,” He chuckled and left you, nearly collapsing by your door. Heartbeats were fast as you shake and shiver, hugging yourself at what you just saw.
Not a moment later, you headed for the stables, the Governor and the rest of the guests were too drunk to notice. The maids were occupied as they all thought Gunil left you inside your room to rest but the latter was watching your every move. He turned to face the Duke and Duchess as they nodded in unison. Your horse ran away along with you, the loud sounds of its hooves grinding the grounds had Gunil’s ears ringing to follow from the trees as Yeonjun reached the Prince first. The wind was carrying you on, trying to make the pace faster because of being scared. You could feel Gunil’s presence nearby as the sounds of the leaves gushing the trees and a creature of madness. He was following you.
“Yah!” You exclaimed as your horse ran faster but Gunil was quick enough to stop in front of you. The white horse stood in its two hooves behind, neighing at the sight of the monster with red eyes and sharp claws. You tried to calm your horse down but the Lord was already restraining him to get away.
“Where do you think you are going?” He asked.
“Away from you!” You exclaimed.
“As I said, you can’t get away from me darling,” He added, walking closer to you. “Get down,”
“No,” You hissed. “I’m not going to marry you! You, your family, and my parents can rot to hell!” But Gunil wasn’t amused as his hand reached your hair, grabbing it sternly looking into your eyes.
“I will be your husband in two weeks from now and you decided to cheat on me with the Prince? Are you really that desperate Y/n?” He said before dragging you to get down as you winced in pain as to how tight he’s been pulling your hair. “If you want freedom, I am glad to do the honor of killing you,” He chuckled.
“Do it then!” You hissed again trying to get off from his touch but being the vampire he is, Gunil is too strong to resist.
“Any last words before I do?” He asked before lifting his free hand, claws sharp as knives. Horror intensifies in your face. This world is too cruel for you to live in anyway, and maybe dying at the night of your engagement being done by your fiance will be a story that might be published in gothic fiction—or so everyone thought vampires don’t exist.
“I loathe you—” But before you could finish, someone interrupted.
“Lord Gunil, stop it at once!” The growling deep voice was heard, accompanied by a familiar face. Gunil sighed harshly, glaring at the Prince who just arrived as Yeonjun’s face filled with worry.
“He’s dangerous Felix!” You exclaimed, but Gunil didn’t even bother to let you go.
“Shut up!” Gunil hissed.
“I command you to let go of Y/n,” Felix said.
“You are not her subject, Felix! She’s mine to kill.” Gunil exclaimed as Felix’s eyes turned red—sharp claws appeared as his fangs were ready to bite.
“You don’t want me to kill you myself, don’t you?” Felix smirked. “Let her go!”
“You know vampires are prohibited to kill, especially a royal!” Gunil said. Your eyes are facing terrified and nervous, afraid of being killed or for what Felix was doing. Vampires are real, and the royal family’s curse was real—Gunil is part of the royal family from the second line. But Felix was so beautiful, his skin shone with the full moon that night, his eyes were blood red, and even when in anger, softness still lingers. His black sharp claws, his white fangs that can be painted red, he was too mesmerizing to be afraid of. But the idea of the creature can bring danger—how could he hide such a secret from you?
“You will kill her, I will kill you, our hands are going to be painted with blood eh?” Felix said, walking closer to you and Gunil. “How’s that for prisoners committing treason, cousin?” He smirked as Gunil got frustrated and pushed you away. Yeonjun was the one to secure you in his arms, trembling at the sight of two heated vampires in front of you.
“Cousin,”
“Are you okay, Miss?” Yeonjun asked as you looked at him, scared.
“You’re a vampire too,” You said, shivering under his touch. He looks the same as them, his hands are cold as ice, with no warmth at all.
“I’m not going to hurt you Miss, and so is the Prince,” He reassured. “Now let me take you back home,”
“What about Felix?” You asked.
“He revealed what he needed to be told, but don’t worry you will see him later,” He said as he took your horse and ran back home with you, leaving Felix who managed to secure a small nod for reassurance.
“How much do you love my fiance?” Gunil asked, letting you go.
“More than my life, Gunil,” Felix hissed. “And I will never let you lay a hand on her,” He said, voice growling in the depths.
“Royals are not allowed to marry the elites,” Gunil spoke, walking around him. “Are there no princesses that amuse you? Why deal with a mortal?” He hissed.
“I’ve known her for six years now, you can’t blame me for falling in love. Not someone like you who threatens their fiance for what? Power? The Governor traded his daughter for a higher position in the King’s parliament to a monster like you!” Felix said, eaten by anger.
“Oh, the Duke said I can do whatever I want with the girl, I thought she’d be all lovely and sweet but what did I see?” Gunil said, stopping in front of the Prince. “A worthless commoner who is foolishly in love with a Prince, and not just a Prince, a blood-sucking vampire. Admit it, Felix, Y/n’s blood is too good that you can’t resist it. You will kill her, eventually,” He smirked.
“I’m not like you!” Felix growled. “She is not your mate, even if her blood attracts you!”
“But she’s mine,” Gunil said, mocking his Highness’ tone. “I’m going to suck on her blood the night of our wedding and claim her mine. The privilege was given to me Felix, not you!” But then, sharp claws scratched Gunil’s chest, ripping his upper dress—the older boy was caught off guard by the sudden action and bled. Felix’s gaze had no signs of softness and remorse.
“You are lucky to have the law, or you’re already dead by now,” He said, lowering his voice, piercing his claws in Gunil’s chest making the older boy grunt in pain. But Gunil remained silent with his hand clutching his wounded chest. It will heal sometime. “Don’t touch Y/n, or I’ll bury you alive. And remember that she was born under the blood moon with me,” Gunil could only glare at him as he proceeded to dig his claws deeper. “A vampire can die with silver but not my claws Gunil, don’t cross the line,” Felix whispered before taking his claws off, making the boy kneel in his place. “Go home,”
Felix was about to leave the place as Gunil was panting heavily, forcing himself to rise up—gaining for the Prince with his claws ready to cut him in half. His movements were enough for Felix to notice and turned around to hold his wrists. He had the chance to throw him to the ground, wrapping his hand around Gunil’s neck. Felix’s red eyes were fuming like fire as he put much force on the latter’s neck, choking him nearly to death. Gunil tried to take it away from him, but Felix didn’t budge to move.
“I said, go home,” He said. “You’re quite stubborn are you?” But the latter smirked.
“You can’t kill me,” Gunil said.
“I will not betray Felly for you,” Felix said before he let him go. A frustrated sigh escaped from his lips and went to the trees and jumped his way back to the palace, leaving Gunil unamused and sparking his hatred more.
He went back to the Chateau as you were assisted by Yeonjun to sit on your bed. Gunil was fuming in anger, so much that he forced himself in even if Yeonjun had to stop him. You were already scared enough to distance yourself, but the Lord pushed the Professor away. Tears started to form in your eyes, blood was dripping down from his chest—Felix became something he didn’t want for a while. Almost everyone affiliated with the royal family was blessed with immortality and a monster hides within. Gunil’s hand reached your reach with a loud smack on it, causing your tears to flow faster. Yeonjun wasn’t in the place to stop him, for Gunil stands in a higher position than a mere professor himself.
“You are not going to leave this house, even if we marry. I forbid you to see the Prince!” He growled and left you with Yeonjun inside your room. Louds sobs were heard as you hugged him tightly.
“What should I do?” You asked, trembling as your hands shake. “He will kill me, he will kill me…”
Drowned in despair, you sent Yeonjun away to the Prince. But even if life has given you the signs that you’re going to die, that didn’t stop you from seeing Felix every night. He would come into your room with Yeonjun being the lookout and sneak you out by the window. Each night possesses bright full moons being the indication that a blood moon will show itself soon. You couldn’t help but wonder how it happened or how Felix and the royal family got to be blessed with immortality. A great gift that must be used for the good, but the others have abused their power for the sake of revenge. He tells stories one at a time as you sit beside him by an open window in the same old farmhouse. One that the moon’s light stares directly at the Prince.
“The story begins during the war, a beautiful woman seeks refuge in the kingdom after her family was killed by the enemy. She was held captive by the King that time, a stranger from a nameless kingdom, no one knows where she came from,” He said, holding each other’s hands and interlocking your fingers together as he leaned his head on your shoulder. “His wife had a heart of gold, she believed the prisoner was poor and must be given good treatment. The King was not amused but she begged him to save the stranger’s life—it’s cruel to keep someone innocent in a dungeon with no crime,”
Some believed she was a witch and lied to the royal guards that her family was killed during the war. She befriended the Queen, and she believed her stories—no provocation of a witch so they set her free. Her name was not to be spoken, she was nameless to everyone but not the Queen herself. She became her right hand, eventually and the Queen trusted her, with no doubts or hesitations. The kingdom used to think the Queen was reckless and ignorant of the danger. She didn’t know what awaited her. Then, the plague came, it took a lot of lives in Felly, the Queen fell really sick and the King accused the girl of sorcery. How could she betray the one who gave shelter and trusted her? With the Queen ill, they punished her death—thought they would make the plague gone when the girl died. But the people were fools.
They hanged the girl, but before they could, she wished to give her last words. She cursed all the members of the royal family, she didn’t find goodness in their hearts except for the Queen who showed compassion. It was the night of the blood moon, she promised she would not flee from the accusations but the magic she possessed enveloped the royal family members who were watching the execution. With the power of the blood moon and her magic, she said they’ll have the form of a blood-sucking creature—a dangerous monster, unable to control when it’s under the spell of the red moon. They were forbidden to kill, or else their treasures and ranks would vanish especially immortality. But my ancestors didn’t do well and broke the rules, and there remains a curse. The girl died, the plague was still there and the curse. The royals were forbidden to love a non-royal as well, but some say that one day, one of the members of the royal family will break the law. This vampire might kill someone or fall in love with a commoner.
“Sounds stupid right?” Felix chuckled. “Vampires usually have their prey when their blood is so sweet and fragrant to them, but some of us have it as our mates or they were the ones who were born together under the red moon. And as for me, I am destined to be with a mortal, a non-royal,” He added, looking at you. “Your blood smells so good, and you are born under a blood moon with me,—I’ll risk everything to be with you.”
Your hand reaches his cheek, kissing him under the bright moonlight. His skin was soft and cold, yet it felt warm which makes your heart melt. A sense of touch that ruins the code and law as if they were turning their backs on the kingdom—a significance of opposing this engagement.  It didn’t matter what he is, nor the proceedings of the law, you didn’t want to be with someone else but the Prince. The freedom of seeing him every night ends at dawn, you will be seeing Gunil around the Chateau again and pretend everything was fine. Parents with unreachable standards and a rebel child, it does play a problem and fate is not friendly as it seems.
The day of the wedding came, and tears spilled from the eyes of the rebel child as her unwanted groom stood at the altar. Hands gripped tightly around the bouquet as her father assisted her. Everyone was smiling, admiring the beauty you possessed—but the rage inside your heart gets darker every time you take a step. The Prince watched the parade, eyes turning red at the acquisition. He wanted to lash out at everything in his sight, kill the man he was jealous of for having you standing in front, exchanging vows, and taking the veil off of your face. The Prince closed his shut, not taking the kiss for proclaiming the newlyweds as husband and wife. Your Father was overjoyed as your Mother wept with relief. The Duke and Duchess weren’t amused but the trade is a trade.
You are already married.
Your husband held your wrist tight to get a portrait, it will be one they will hang on the wall. The reception was filled with joy and drinking. It was the same scenario you had during the engagement party. Both didn’t paint a smile nor happiness in your world, only anger, and resentment. You were thankful that the marriage didn’t happen inside a church—a vampire, getting married in a church was ridiculous—you thought. But no matter how you execute thoughts, fear still remains and your husband can be responsible for taking your life whenever he pleases.
“You have the power to stop this wedding, why didn’t you do anything?” Yeonjun told Felix as he watched you dance with your husband at the center. You keep on glancing at Felix, but Gunil would make him look at you, smirking as he holds your hand tightly.
“And what would I do when I object?” Felix asked in return. “I will not hesitate to bring that monster and his family down! I will take care of him, clean and crimeless,” Yeonjun gave him a puzzled look.
“You will make a bloody crime,” Yeonjun whispered, but Felix didn’t answer and walked away.
“Can I have a dance with the bride?” Felix asked, interfering with you and Gunil from the dance. The Lord was looking at the Prince, unamused of his sudden appearance—then he looks at you, who was looking down on the floor, trying to resist the pain you feel from his grip. It will leave a bruise later.
“You will not do anything stupid,” Gunil said, pushing you towards the Prince as you stumbled upon him. “I’m watching you very close,”
“That bastard,” Felix growled as he held your hands, seeing the bruise on your wrist. “He did this to you?” He asked, eyes hinting red at the sight of it and Gunil was sitting a few meters away.
“It doesn’t matter,” You said.
“But Y/n, he’s abusing you!” Felix said gritting his teeth. “I’m going to kill that fucker,”
“Felix, he will kill you,” You argued, taking his hand, pretending to dance away.
“He will kill you,” He said. “I’m taking you away with me the moment this ends, I don’t care what will happen.”
“You’re putting dirt on your name, Felix, I won’t let you do it because of me!” You said tears started streaming on your face again.
“I love you, Y/n,” He said as it made your sobs grow harder.
Felix held your hand as his arm being wrapped around your waist pulled you closer to him as you sway to the music. Eyes were on you, it was a magnificent sight but not on your husband. You were beautiful in Felix’s eyes even if tears were shining like pearls—he wouldn’t waste such an opportunity. The white dress twirled following your body movements, it was the way the Prince spun you around and make a distance with your hands colliding with each other, it was the way how he pulls you back into his arms and hugged you tightly. It was sweet, but there was darkness behind. The music was soothing with a mixture of a masquerade theme. A melody that signifies that a woman was dancing with a lover that was never truly hers. It was bleeding painfully.
The Prince held your hand again, slipping something onto it, a silver dagger that was wrapped by a piece of cloth. A sharp object that can kill a creature in just one force into their chest. It was something that Felix feared, a weakness that contributes to his death. You looked at him as you slipped it inside your dress, Gunil was thankfully talking to his mother—Felix knew great timing. But then, you were confused as to why yet you were meant to kill.
“Kill him,” He said. “Then we shall flee from Felly,”
“What about the King and Queen?” You said in a worried tone.
“I’ll explain it to them, they will help us,” He insisted as Gunil suddenly appeared out of nowhere.
“That’s enough dancing with my wife,” He growled. “Find your own bride,” Gunil added as he dragged you away.
“Felix!” You cried but all he did was stand up on his spot, giving you a nod.
A vampire can’t kill another—but a human can. It will be considered a crime yet the person dragging you towards your room has already committed one. Felix flew above the Chateau as Yeonjun held the carriage outside the main entrance. He landed on a branch that settles him to see you through your bedroom’s window with your husband dragging you inside as you keep resisting his touch. Grunting and groaning to the pain you feel on your wrist, your body felt the softness of the mattress where he had to push you, eyes red in anger and rage. His heart turned dark, knuckles turned white, and his fangs were sharp as his claws—it might be the last time.
“What are you doing?” He asked. “You think Felix’s help will get you out of this?! No! You’re married to me now Y/n,”
“I’d rather die than spend a lifetime with you!” You exclaimed, launching out from the bed. “You agreed to take me for a trade! What am I? A thing? Bullshit!”
“Oh, Y/n, you’re more valuable than that,” Gunil smirked as he played with your hair. “You have something that I need,” He added breathing on your neck gently which makes his hunger craves more. You shut your eyes closed, fear enveloped your body as you remembered the silver dagger Felix gave you.
“Did my Father know?” You asked, trembling on your spot. “Does my parents know you’re a vampire?”
“No secrets for a trade love,” Gunil smirked. “I can’t let have the Prince feast for this luscious blood of yours to save his life, you’re his mate after all,”
“You can’t have me!” You defended when he just chuckled.
“Too bad, I already did,” Gunil opened his mouth ready to take a bite when you pierced the dagger on his left stomach causing him to weaken and kneeled on the ground. “Fuck,” He hissed at the sight of his blood, running towards the silver blade.
“Y/n!” Felix yelled from the branch as you hurried to open the window but Gunil gathered his strength, pulling you again, earning a scream from you. A hand grabbed your hair as he took the dagger from his wounded side.
“You will never leave this house!” Gunil growled as Felix launched himself inside, but he was too quick to hold you captive with his arm wrapped on your chest and the dagger’s sharp edge pointing at your neck. “You think you can get away?” He stressed as Felix halted in front of you. “Don’t come near us or I’ll kill her!”
“Let her go!” Felix yelled.
“She’s mine, Felix!”
“No,” Felix retorted. “You don’t know what will happen if you’d kill her.” He saw your eyes covered in fear, trying to resist Gunil’s grip for the nth time. Tears stream from your eyes, Felix hated that.
“I already see a monster inside you Felix,” Gunil smirked. “How much more if I’d take her life too?” He chuckled and was about to slash the dagger when Felix grabbed his hand—holding his wrist tightly causing Gunil to wince in pain and dropped the sharp object down to the floor as you fled.
“Go!” Said the Prince, holding Gunil from attacking any further. “Yeonjun take her away!” Felix ordered as the former quickly carried you out from the room and hopped towards the carriage.
“Take me back to Felix!” You cried but Yeonjun already pushed you inside.
“I can’t Miss,” He said. “You have to stay here, he will come later,” He added, hopping on the coachman’s seat to go on the road. Felix was left with Gunil, combatting against each other—one that would slash their claws on one’s arm or the other punches the other’s face. The Prince pinned Gunil on your bed, a hand wrapped around his neck, suffocating him. His eyes were full of rage and the latter was trying to take it at ease. He was too weak to do anything anyway, the stinging pain of this wound made by the silver was painful enough.
“Remember your Highness, you can’t kill,” Gunil smirked as Felix positioned himself to slash his enemy to death. “You can’t kill me,” He said.
“You don’t deserve your place, you’re a filthy vampire,” Felix grunted in response.
“It’s sad why a human was destined to be your mate,” Gunil chuckled. “You will kill her for her blood anyway,” But it only made Felix have his grip tighter around his neck.
“You do not speak to me like that,” Felix gritted his teeth. “I will kill you myself,” But Gunil pushed him away as Felix’s back landed on the furniture surrounding the room—earning a painful wince from the Prince. He lifted Felix up from his place, a hand around his neck and a dark stare. Even in pain, he still gains strength, he knew damage from a silver won’t heal faster than the minor ones, minus the mineral.
“How much are you going for her?” Gunil asked.
“I’d die for her!” Felix said struggling to get down from the former’s strength but managed to kick him right on the stomach where you stabbed him. Gunil fell to the floor and Felix grabbed the dagger and fled—coming for your carriage but to his surprise, Yeonjun was lying unconscious on the road—the carriage was bumped into a tree, damaged at the front. The Duke had a knife on your neck, again as the Duchess had Yeonjun’s head bleeding and passed out.
“Felix!” You called but it only caused the Duke to make a small cut on your neck, so much for the blood dripping, it drove the Prince crazy. His head was spinning, the scent of your blood was enough to rage him for lust.
“Ahh, his mate it is,” The Duke laughed. “You know your Highness, it is quite of a pity to have a mortal as your mate when everyone was destined to marry a royal. But her blood smells good and appetizing,”
“You don’t need to be selfish,” The Duchess said but the Prince was dizzy.
“Felix,” You cried.
“When she dies, you will become useless and the King will make Gunil heir to the throne!” The Duke said.
“A Governor who wanted power traded his daughter without knowing what will hit him,” The Duchess chuckled when you bit the Duke’s hand to flee but enough to stab the knife behind your back, buried deep.
“No!” Felix exclaimed before he could attack them both in anger, slashing the chests and piercing his claws on their hearts. Law didn’t matter to him anymore. He was furious—eyes were dark red, devoured with madness and blood, and he came mercilessly to the two nobles. His hands choked on their necks, with the brightness of the moon that night, he sucked on their blood—tackled them to the ground, and pierced the dagger into their hearts. You were lying on the grass, catching your breath as Gunil arrived, seeing his parents dead. His eyes were covered in fear.
“Do I  need to kill you too?” He asked. “Right, there’s no point in killing you yet,”
“You don’t know what you’re doing,” Gunil said, shaking at the sight of his parents being lifeless, blood being sucked and empty.
“I am,” Felix growled as he went in your direction. “Y/n,” But with rage Gunil was about to attack him from behind when the Prince was too quick enough to turn around and stabbed his wound again causing him to wince in pain, loud enough. Yeonjun regained his consciousness and saw the horror.
“A life for a life,” Felix whispered. “You don’t deserve a place in the palace,” Gunil fell to his knees and collapsed on the ground as Felix proceeded to you, fighting for your life. Breathes were heavy and painful, blood coloring the green grass as you lay, looking at him with worried eyes. “Y/n,.. I’m so sorry…” He said.
“Shhh,” You said, reassuring him. “I’m sorry,”
“Sire,” Yeonjun called. “You killed the Duke and Duchess, the King wouldn’t be pleased.”
“It doesn’t matter, I will explain what happened,” Felix said. “Leave me and Y/n, alone for a moment,”
“And Lord Gunil?” He asked again.
“Take him to the royal physician and burn their bodies,” He ordered as Yeonjun bowed. “Everything will be okay, now,” Felix said, looking at you as he take your body on his lap. “I’m sorry,” He cried.
“Don’t be sorry, none of this was your fault,” You said, holding his hand. “Now that I’m wounded and dying, my blood is already yours,”
“And leave you to die?” Felix said, as his voice cracked with his sobs in between.
“I think I was destined to die anyway,” You smiled despite the pain. “I’m already losing a lot of blood, I’m sorry I won’t be able to give you a happily ever after,” You added.
“You’re going to live okay?” Felix growled. “I’m not going to let anything bad happen to you,”
“I love you,” You said. “My blood is yours, my Prince…”
The Prince was left in despair as tears wouldn’t stop streaming his face the moment you finally closed your eyes. Clutching your body onto his, he buried his face in your neck. Despite the luscious red liquid that drips down from your body, it became nothing. He couldn’t bear to take your blood as his now—what’s the point of it anyway? You are gone.
Tumblr media
“Your Highness, we should get back now,” Yeonjun said. Your parents bowed to pay respect as the lord executed a nod. The Prince glared at him.
“You’re lucky I didn’t intend to kill you with the Duke and Duchess,” Felix told Gunil.
Felly watched the funeral of the Duke and Duchess the night where Felix killed them as Gunil was healing. Everyone was scared at didn’t look the Prince in his eyes. Even your parents were ashamed and the Governor lost his place in the palace. The King was furious but gave no punishment to his child despite the crime. There was no crime, after all.
“Your Highness the rain will pour harder anytime soon,” Yeonjun insisted as the Prince sighed in disbelief.
“I said, leave us!” His voice was stern and Yeonjun immediately obliged, returning to the carriage. “Don’t wait for me and get back to the palace,”
“Yes, Your Majesty,” Yeonjun bowed and left, even the funeral directors left the coffin open for him to see you one last time.
Your parents knew what happened that night. The King’s royal guard informed the Governor to be revoked from his place. One that he didn’t deserve after making a deal with a vampire and trading his daughter—not just a hopeless maiden—but the Prince’s mate. His best friend and true love, the one who gives him joy despite the sadness he carries from being one of the royals. Felix was devastated and so was everyone in the kingdom. Your parents were put on house arrest along with Gunil. The Lord was too weak and sad to escape, but their effrontery manner is thick enough to have themselves show at your funeral, weeping and ashamed.
You died. They thought it was the end. You live. And it was only the beginning. They always paint the roses red. You despise it.
With the blood moon above the sky, Felix’s fangs met your neck—burying the bite deep down to savor the remains of your body.  His DNA travels from every nerve and passageway to roam inside your body as if it was a venom that escalates for someone to die. But the difference—it will let you live. He attempted to bite, not once, not twice but thrice of his fangs grow sharper by the minute. Your eyes were still closed, with no sense of life after all. Yet he didn’t give up there. He was left with his last choice and carried your body back to the palace where he used the trees as an escape. No one saw him as he landed on the balcony of his room where the King and Queen were waiting. Yeonjun helped him lay you on his bed, lifeless yet beautiful.
“She will be back, the blood moon is with us,” The Queen said.
“Your marks have indicated life, let’s hope for her return,” The King added. “Son, why did you let Gunil live?”
“He is not for me to kill,” Felix said, caressing your hair. “I don’t want to stain my hands with his blood,” The King and Queen exchanged glances as they gave their son a hug.
“We will leave you alone with her,” The Queen said as she nodded at Yeonjun, taking her way out along with the King.
“Sire, let Y/n rest for a bit,” Yeonjun said as Felix gave him a nod before placing a soft kiss on his lips— leaving with him.
The door closed behind Felix as gently as possible and left you into your deep slumber on his bed, hands clasped on your stomach. It was a beautiful night indeed, the bright light from the moon entered the room with the wind howling making the curtains sway. The burning flames on each candle blow as his blood devour your body to your heart. The wind grew stronger and the gushing sounds of it poke the life within you. A gasp escaped your lips as you opened your eyes.
They were red.
Felix suddenly felt something weird that held him back to his room, you were standing in front of a mirror—amused by what you had become. The Prince ran back inside as you heard the sounds of the door opening. Felix’s heart started to beat faster, you look different after being brought to life, yet still the most beautiful woman in his eyes. He is already crying as you stare at each other—you spread your arms open as he welcomes you into a hug.
“My love, I missed you so much,” He said, hugging you tightly as you melted under his touch. “I thought I’d lost you,” He added between his sobs. “You came back,”
“I thought I’ll be gone,” You said, shedding tears as Felix kissed your lips most definitely.
It is that one thing that you missed. His hugs, all the cuddles, and laughs—his kisses were always gentle and soft as you tasted your own blood from his lips. That didn’t matter. He wrapped his arms around your waist to pull you closer, enough space to deepen the kiss. It was filled with longingness as he was left to cry his heart out inside his room a few days after your death. It wasn’t his job to bring back the living but for the sake that you are his only mate, he risked his own life for it and promised to make them regret what they did. He loves you dearly.
Your back met the mattress as he hovered over you—hand wrapped around his neck, Felix didn’t waste his time kissing you. He licked your lips before sucking them and took them again as you let out soft moans from his touch. One that it drove him crazy while at it, you pulled him closer to yours as you played with his black locks. Felix smiled at the thought, ending it with a soft kiss on your lips, making you giggle. Your hand placed on his cheek gently, caressing it to look at his face in awe. The face of the one you love, the one who saved you, and the one you should marry.
“I love you,” He said.
“I love you too,” You added he placed another prolonged kiss on your lips again.
And that moment later, you lay beside together as you hold hands with Felix playing with your fingers.
“The ball will be tomorrow night,” He said. “We were supposed to be busy,” The Prince chuckled.
“I’m sorry to forfeit your schedule,” You said as Felix shake his head, kissing the tip of your nose.
“It’s fine, they already know,” He smiled. “I want to deliver you in public tomorrow, make your parents regret what they did, and face Gunil,” He said, slowly changing his tone.
“Wouldn’t be weird to have a dead be alive again?” You asked as he giggled.
“I have the power to make you live for you are my mate, my blood is yours, we share it now,” He smiled. “I made you one of us to make you live, and I will make you my Princess,”
“That’s a huge honor for me,” You said.
“Will you accept it?” Felix asked, looking at the red eyes that you share with him.
“I will be honored, your Highness,” You smiled.
The night of the ball arrived, it was supposedly a birthday celebration for the King where everyone is dancing and colleagues meet. Your parents were invited as well as Gunil who is still a prisoner, dressed them into fine nobles to what they should be. The King was seated on the throne along with his wife. A feast that everyone thought that it was the usual birthday party. Felix stood beside his Father and watched the townsmen enjoy the company. The music was played by a famous group of musicians and a singer was intended to sing later.
Everyone was distracted, the King is smiling and the Queen is satisfied with the taste of the wine as you were hidden on the second floor. A red ball gown that emphasizes a sweet backfire as you walked down the stairs made the King halt the activities. The Prince went to escort you and the townsmen were left in shock. The Prince’s other half lives. Your parents had a hard time swallowing the fact that what they did was wrong and now, the royal family’s hatred grows bigger—with you being alive and a part of the immortality.
“Behold, our new heir of the throne,” The King announced as Gunil dropped his glass on the floor. That caught your attention as you stood beside Felix at the throne, one that your parents cried in regret but it was too late. It was their fault why your life was miserable enough and was killed for your blood. A connection to the Prince not to get the throne if you were gone.
“Y/n,” Your Mother cried as was about to run to you but the guard have blocked their way. The Governor was ashamed. He couldn’t look you in the eye.
“Why did you do this to me?” You asked them.
“Oh darling it was a mistake, your Father—” But your Mother was cut off when she saw your eyes. You became one of them.
“Gunil, you are no longer a Lord, Mr. (y/l/n) the King revoked your Governor position and now you live as a normal member of the town with your wife.” You said. “I forgive you for taking away my freedom but I will never ever forget the day you traded me for a fucking position in the palace—Mother didn’t even stop you,” You cried at your Father.
“Your Highness, please forgive me,” Your Father said but it was too late.
“Please, just leave,” You said quietly as Felix hugged you.
“Guards, escort them back to the Chateau,” The King ordered. Your parents wanted to oppose at the situation but the guards dismissed them away. Gunil hissed at the sight of you, being disgusted with the fact that you’re all fine. But you sent him a death glare and smirked away.
“Do you want to walk with me outside?” Felix asked as you nodded. He held your hand tightly as you walked by the garden. It was yet another lovely night—the celebration resumed but the thoughts of your parents’ faces never left your mind. The former Governor might’ve been so embarrassed that he didn’t say any word. Yet you still despise Gunil for what he did—he was for you to kill anyway but decided to never lay a hand to a prisoner. They didn’t deserve you.
“So what’s your plan now? Your parents and Gunil?” Felix asked.
“I still love them even after what they did to me, let them be in the Chateau and Gunil will be prohibited from having freedom,” You sighed as he gave you a nod.
“That will be taken care of,” He said. “But what’s on your mind, right now?”
“I’m happy,” You answered in response.
“How so?” Felix asked, smiling at the sight of you—excited of what you meant.
“Everything happened quickly like a blink of an eye,” You started. “All this luxury after I live again felt so unexpected,”
“Y/n, you deserve this,” Felix insisted as he stopped—looking at you. “You’re free now, nothing will step in your way. All you need to do is be my Princess, and be my Queen when the time comes.” He said as you giggled in response. “I’ll take that as a yes then,” He smiled.
“Felix, you know I can’t say no to you,” You smiled as he kissed your forehead.
“I know,” Felix answered, caressing your cheek. “I love you Y/n, you deserve anything in this world.”
“I only ask for you,” You answered as Felix smiled before kissing your lips softly.
“You will always have me,”

“Lix?” You called, having not heard from your boyfriend for roughly an hour. While it wasn’t unusual for him to go into his own little world in your shared bedroom, whether that be for gaming, chatting with friends overseas, or just reading—a full hour without him coming to find you or texting you, even when both of you were home, was definitely out of the ordinary.
So, you made your way to the bedroom’s closed door and lightly tapped on the wood. “Yeah?” Came the muffled reply.
“You good, baby?”
“Yep!”
“Can I come in?” You asked, opening the door before Felix could answer.
After all, it wasn’t as if either of you had anything to hide. On the rare occasions you did, like when wrapping birthday presents and such, notes to the effect of “Super Secret Project In Progress. Do Not Enter. I Love You!!!!!” were typically taped to the door.
As you entered, Felix looked up with a look on his face you’d only really ever seen on a cat. It was as if you’d caught him just after he’d knocked a glass of water off the counter or had ripped a rug to shreds. Before you could say anything, your boyfriend was shoving the papers strewn over the desk into a pile and stuffing them into a drawer, then standing in front of said desk with a foot on said drawer to stop it from popping open.
You giggled. “Babe, whatcha got there?”
“Nothing, just something I was working on,” Felix said nonchalantly. As if he could appear anything short of guilty now that he’d so clearly been working on something he did not want you to see.
You sauntered toward him, swinging the overlong sleeves of your—his—hoodie as you went. “You sure about that? Are you sure it’s not something for me?”
“Oh, very sure, honey,” Felix replied, nodding and grinning like a fool.
You hummed, snaking your arms around his waist as you reached him and staring directly into his eyes. “You know, Lix,” you mused, “your ears always turn red and you end up staring into space a little more than usual when you’re lying.” You smirked. “Your ears are red.”
Felix huffed a laugh, returning your embrace. “My ears also turn red whenever I’m particularly excited to see you.”
“Right, that’s not the only thing that happens, baby,” you said, pressing yourself against him and letting your hands slide just that much closer to his ass.
“Oh, no you don’t,” Felix warned, moving away just enough to end up dropping his foot to the floor. Taking advantage of his distraction, you tried to disentangle yourself from your boyfriend’s arms.
“Now let’s see what you were—” you began, only to be pulled away by Felix.
“Nope, secret project, baby,” he insisted, resorting to lightly tickling your sides and kissing your cheek as you squirmed and reached for the drawer. “You are so not finding out what that was.”
“But Lix, I wanna know!” You whined, doing your best impression of his sister’s youngest child. “Please?”
“Nope!” Felix said, now having successfully maneuvered the two of you over to the bed. You quickly found yourself flat on your back on the mattress with Felix over you, still tickling you.
“Please, please, please?” You begged, but to no avail. At this point, you weren’t even sure whether you were begging for Felix to tell you what he’d been doing or to stop tickling you.
“Only if you give me a kiss,” he relented, pausing for a moment.
You stared up at your boyfriend, his eyes sparkling and cheeks ever so slightly flushed—and ears tinged a cherry red—and gave in.
It wasn’t such a hardship, after all.
Craning your neck, you pressed your lips to his in a brief kiss. “Okay, you’ve got your kiss. Can I see what you were doing now?” You said confidently.
“That was barely a kiss,” Felix said sorrowfully. “I’m so unloved. The love of my life won’t even kiss me properly anymore.” He pouted.
And who were you to deny him?
Ten minutes later, you were both quite out of breath and more than a little excitable. “So, Lixie, my baby, my darling,” you panted. “Are you going to tell me what you were working on now that you’ve gotten a little more than just a kiss?”
Felix sighed, burying his face in your neck. “Okay, but it’s a little embarrassing.”
You stroked his hair. “I’m sure whatever it you’ve done is lovely.”
Felix slid backward off the bed, grasping your hands as he went so that you sat up as he stood. “Here, um… Just close your eyes for a moment. Please?”
You nodded, even going so far as to cover your eyes with your fingers.
After some rustling and little comments along the lines of “Okay, that goes there and that goes… Shit. Not there,” from your boyfriend, you felt warm hands cup your cheeks and soft lips press to yours.
“Come see,” Felix murmured against your mouth.
What lay before you on the desk took your breath away. “Is that…” you began, leaning forward to peer at the little photos and dried flowers on the pages of what was unmistakably a scrapbook.
“It’s us,” Felix said, hand securely around your waist.
“Is this a wedding scrapbook, Lix?” You asked, voice quiet with admiration and more love than you knew what to do with.
“Maybe…”
“I love it, baby,” you said, turning to kiss Felix’s cheek. “Can you show me all of it?”
So, he did. There were pictures of the two of you, more dried flowers—“This is what I’d have in my boutonniere!”—pictures of your friends, drawings of table settings, pictures of suits and dresses and everything in between… In short, Felix had compiled all his dreams and wishes for a wedding into one book.
“Wait,” you said after looking through the entire scrapbook. “Does this mean… Are you… Are we?”
“If you’re asking if I’d like to marry you, Y/N, then yes. Yes, I would, if you’ll have me,” Felix said sincerely. “It would be the greatest honor of my life if I could marry you.”
You threw your arms around Felix’s neck, clinging tightly to him as your murmured—and squealed—“Yes! Yes!” He spun you around, the two of you laughing and giddy, before finally stopping to kiss you soundly again.
“I love you, Felix,” you said, gazing at the man who would someday be your husband. The thought alone gave you such a thrill.
“I love you, too. More than you know.”
“Care to show me?” You asked mischievously.
“Later, later,” Felix promised. “But first I have a very serious question.”
You raised an eyebrow.
“Which one of us will wear the garter belt?”
You burst out laughing, drawing him back down onto the bed again. The rest of the evening passed languidly, the two of you moving from the bed to the bath and finally to the kitchen, content and more in love than either of you thought possible.
Perhaps, some Super Secret Projects were worth the wait…

Am I Bang Chan’s stylist? I thought they were assigning me to a girl group. This wasn't what I signed up for; I mean, I have skills in the cosmetics field and clothing, but I have a degree in business and management. So how did I end up as a stylist?
A sigh escaped my lips as I lay in bed looking up at the ceiling; my phone began to ring. I picked it up and looked at the screen; Mom was calling. I haven't spoken to her since my argument before boarding the plane. I answered, “Hola Mama,” I said with a forced smile. Judging from the tone of her voice, she was annoyed and frustrated. I felt my heart sting at the mention of financial issues. I bit my lip, “I understand, mama, te voy llama en tres dias, and we’ll figure it out.” I said, holding back the tears and swallowing the lump in my throat.
The line went dead as I sat down on the mattress, feeling the familiar heavyweight fall on my shoulders, tears came pouring down, and soft sobs escaped my lips. I came here for a new beginning in life but I was wrong.
I wiped away the tears as I continued preparing for my first day of work as a stylist for a Kpop idol. I decided to wear something casual and simple, a black cherry skirt that reached midway to my ankles. With a beige turtle neck and the new coat I had bought, I removed the hairband letting my curls breathe. I grabbed my bag and phone before leaving the room, “Okay, I’ll see you later. I’ll call you if anything happens.” I said, looking at Andy and Jinyoung as they sat on the living room floor eating black bean noodles. They smiled, “Be safe and good luck,” They said as I walked out of the apartment.
I slipped on my classic black ‘librarian shoes,’ as Andy calls them. I walk to the elevator; I wait patiently for it. I pull out the book from my bag as the elevator doors open; a soft sigh left my lips as I stepped in. Pressing the lobby floor button, I look at the time on my phone screen; it’s still early. Stopping by for coffee shouldn't hurt anyone.
I took a cab to the JYP Entertainment building; I felt like a nerve-wracking mess. I paid and thanked the driver before getting out of the cab. I inhaled the salted caramel smell of the latte and took a sip before walking inside the building. So many people were in the lobby, some working and some in the waiting area. I walked over to Manager Kim as she stood by the front desk talking to one of the receptionists, “Good morning Lexi, you’re right on time.” She turned to me with a smile. I returned the smile, “Good morning Manager Kim, so how—how will things work?” I asked as I followed her to the elevators.
“You’ll need your badge and keys first; things will be straightforward and easy for you as a stylist. Especially for Bahng Chan, who’s well-mannered and very talkative. So he shouldn't give you a hard time,” Manager Kim said with a smile as we got off on the second floor. We entered an office-like room, “We just need a picture for your badge.” Manager Kim said grabbing the camera. I gulped and nodded with a forced smile, “Pic-picture? Right okay,” I said setting my bookbag and coffee on the table. I fixed my hair and the collar of my coat, “Just stand here in front of the blue wall.” Manager Kim said.
I rubbed my nervous palms on my coat and faced Manager Kim and the camera; I hadn't taken a picture since my nineteenth birthday. I stood where she had told me to stand and did my best to keep the smile on my lips, “Okay, one more,” Manage Kim said as the flash reappeared. Manager Kim walked over to the desk and typed away on the laptop; I grabbed my bookbag and coffee. I finished drinking my coffee as Manager Kim got the company’s badge ready.
I tossed the empty cup into the trash bin as Manager Kim handed me the badge, JYP STAFF: Stylist LEVEL: 3 Lexi Navarro. I let the ID hang around my neck as I follow Manager Kim out of the office. “I just texted you your schedule and a list of rules, including the dress code policy.” Manager Kim said as we entered the elevator again; we went up two floors. I bite my lip while following her and trying to get familiar with the building.
“Now, are you ready to meet the members again?” Manager Kim asked as she entered a practice room; I took a deep breath before entering. “Good morning Manager Kim.” They said. I gave them all a nervous smile and bowed to them, “Everyone, this is Lexi Navarro which I’m sure you’ve already met; she’s our new stylist.” Manager Kim said. I gulped and looked at the group, “Annyeong, I’ll promise to work hard and ensure everything is perfect.” I said. Felix smiles, “I'll let you all try to get to know her and let her know how things will be while in the dance practice videos.” Manager Kim said, leaving the room; more JYP staff entered.
I look at Felix and Seungmin, “Lexi, what a surprised.” Seungmin said with a faint smile. I nodded, “Y…yeah, it surprises me too.” I said. Felix chuckles, “So you're the new girl living next door with Andy?” Changbin was the buff and teddy bear of Stray Kids. I let a nervous laugh leave my lips, “Yeah, I am.” I said. The staff set up the camera work; I saw another Stylist walk in. “Lexi?” She asked. I nodded, “Annyeong, I’m Nora Bae, one of the stylists…Felix’s stylist.” She said with a smile as we shook hands. “Ah, I see; I’m Lexi Navarro Chan’s stylist,” I said; it felt strange saying that.
Nora was lovely and kind enough to show me the room for the stylist and helped me get a makeup case ready for today. I placed my black coat and bag on my assigned desk and grabbed my phone before following Nora out of the Stylist's room. “Nervous?” Nora asked with a smile; I nodded. “Yeah…a lot,” I said. She chuckles. “That’s normal; it’ll wear off soon,” Nora said as we entered the practice room. There were six other stylists now; I gripped the makeup bag. I let a soft sigh fall past my lips as I walked to Bang Chan, “Annyeong, I…I’m your stylist.”I stuttered I felt embarrassed. Bang Chan smiles and lets out a chuckle, “Annyeong Lexi…” He said. I gave him a faint smile.
Nora explained today’s look was simple, since the dance practice video is for their song Case 143. I applied the slightest amount of foundation on Chan’s face; I didn't want to whitewash anything on his complexion. “Did you already applied foundation on his face?” Nora asked, confused; I looked at her and nodded. “I did, but I don't want to add too much since that could cause his complex to look very cakey,” I said and continued to add a little bit of contour and concealer; I grabbed the powder brush and patted gently. And little by little, I applied setting powder to his face. I moved on to his eyes, the concept of their song Case 143 was somewhat romantic so sticking to the colors peach and soft pink was an option.
I added a small amount of shimmer to his eyelids; I decided to add a smokey look as eyeliner. A nude pink lip tint should be perfect for his lip shape and tone; I grabbed the lip brush. I felt nervous as my eyes concentrated on his heart-plump-shaped lips; I applied a little amount of the tint to his lips. “He truly has the prettiest lips ever.” I finished, “Thank you, do I have the prettiest lips?” He asked with a shy smile. I look at him, embarrassed that I said that out loud. “Yes, no problem,” I said, walking away; Lexi, you idiot.

— the little mannerisms you pick up from the members of stray kids over the course of your relationship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
words・3.7k / pairings・ot8 x gn!reader / genres・fluff, humor, borderline crack, intentional lowercase, established relationship(s) / warnings・minsung’s are suggestive, touch of anxiety in felix's, jeongin's is lowkey gross LMFAO
a/n・massive shoutout to @/http.dwaekkii on tiktok for their edits about the boys' habits, which i consulted for chan, changbin, seungmin, and jeongin (and to @astraystayyh for beta reading hehe. what would i do without u). these were sooooo fun to write, hope u guys enjoy (。˃ ᵕ ˂ )
Tumblr media
chan + getting shy easily. poor thing gets embarrassed so quickly as it is. throw you into the mix and it’s just critical hit after critical hit. defense lowered. no health potions left. he folds like a lawn chair with a massive smile and a whiny “stooooop” every time you say something even remotely affectionate. the habit is adorable, and you love it to pieces.
but you like poking fun at it even more. “god forbid i find my literal underwear model of a boyfriend attractive,” you’d say, or something along those lines, which of course only triples his embarrassment and on more than one occasion results in him starfishing on your kitchen floor, his hood pulled over his face.
fast forward however many months. he’s still the worst compliment-receiver you know, but you discover one arbitrary afternoon that it’s rubbed off on you.
the two of you are cuddled together on the living room couch in your usual fashion, your legs thrown over his thighs and his hands tracing absently over your shins as you relay to him something you overheard on the subway. the conversation is painfully normal. you’re almost bored. you pause to take a breath, and he murmurs, out of nowhere, in the dreamiest tone: “so damn beautiful.”
“wha—huh? what is?”
“you. your voice, your face, everything. i‘m lucky.”
your expression of bewilderment persists for around ten seconds, and then slowly, so slowly, you begin to sandwich your head between your knees, balling yourself up like a spooked armadillo. chan wonders if he should call an ambulance.
“love?” no response. “what, uh, what’s happening right now, exactly?”
no response. no response. then, hoarsely, “you can’t...say shit like that…randomly.”
he notices two things after that. one, your skin is burning hot enough to fry something upon, and two, you’ve formed a fist in the fabric of his hoodie, which you only do when you’re pretending to be annoyed at him. the puzzle pieces fall into place, and he starts grinning like a madman.
“you’re…embarrassed?”
the guttural groan you emit is more than enough of an answer, and the cute aggression that overcomes chan is fucking debilitating. he wraps his arms around you and hauls you entirely off the couch and onto his lap, littering kisses over your face until it finally resigns into a matching smile. all intent to continue feigning grumpiness erased with the drop of a hat. you drape an arm over his neck.
“you’re so good to me, channie,” you sigh helplessly. “i love you.”
“love you more, baby.” he imprints these words directly upon your lips, then pulls away, giggles. “that was very me of you, by the way.”
“i know, right? i was just about to say.”
Tumblr media
minho + butt touching. it’s quite simple, really. if lee minho is within proximity of someone’s buttocks, he will, as he lives and breathes, make it known. will it be a coy little swat or a yelp-eliciting, full-bodied grab? nobody ever knows, not even him. the unpredictability is what makes it exciting.
but it takes a while before this starts applying to you, because the way minho touches you is…different. doting. there’s no other way to describe how he always holds the nape of your neck while kissing you, how he rests a hand against the small of your back whenever he leads you somewhere, how during the nights you can’t sleep he guides you to the place on his chest where he knows his heartbeat is loudest. he even drags you into his trademark headlocks the same way one would hold an invaluable treasure. he’s so obsessed with all of you that he never thinks to pay just your butt special attention (though it is, indeed, a special butt).
you take it into your own hands. literally.
you don’t know what prompts it—maybe you’ve simply seen minho slap his members’ asses one too many times, or maybe you’re still thinking of the specific time minho slapped changbin’s ass in passing and it fucking echoed, or maybe minho just looks especially fine in this practice outfit, a skintight tee and washed sweatpants that hug him in all the right places—but you feel a new urge today as your boyfriend swings his duffel over his shoulder, circles around the kitchen counter.
he puckers up as he nears you, silently requesting his goodbye; you give it to him, relishing for a moment in the familiar, soft plush of his lips beneath yours. then he pulls away and turns to leave, and your hand acquires its target.
“go get ‘em, tiger.” thwack!
minho jumps a foot into the air. clutches his pearls and his left butt cheek. becomes the splitting image of that perplexed blonde lady surrounded by geometry.
but when he turns around to stare at you, the smirk melting across his face betrays how he really feels about what you’ve just done. good. really good.
you, meanwhile, look genuinely confused. “it’s like it moved on its own.”
minho beams. steps towards you daintily, intentionally, like a cat catching sight of a laser beam. brings a hand to your hip, murmurs, “that’s what we’re doing now?” kisses you again, for longer this time.
you fully foresee his fingers wandering to your ass to give it a gentle squeeze, but you reach up to cuff his shoulder when it happens anyways, and his laugh vibrates against your mouth. it seems you’ll be reaping what you’ve sown from now on.
(good luck.)
Tumblr media
changbin + the Cackle™. yes, you said something exceptionally funny. yes, you expected changbin to find it funny too. but you couldn’t expect the godforsaken noise that left his mouth as he threw himself straight into the tree planter behind you.
your mind spun with frantic questions as you helped him out of the dirt. had the spirit of spongebob just usurped his vocal cords? were you on a date with the wicked witch of the west? most importantly—
“are you well?” you sputtered, which only made him laugh harder and his laugh so much crazier, so you started laughing, too. and you were goners, falling over each other until you’d been reduced to watery eyes and sore cheeks, your giggling interrupted only by the sound of you slapping his thigh every so often, heartily enough to reverberate around the little park in which you concluded your second date.
that’s how you fall for seo changbin: laughing. with a reckless, breathless abandon you didn’t think possible. stumbling across empty sidewalks, spitting noodles across dining tables, begging for mercy on studio couches. wrestling under tear-stained comforters, starting (and re-starting) silly stories, huffing into beaming kisses. the list goes on.
you never quite get used to that chortle of his, too busy enjoying its insanity to notice how your own chuckles grow shorter and shriller, how they gradually develop an edge like the chittering of a forest dweller.
you complete your transformation on your ninety-eighth date.
no, changbin doesn’t say anything exceptionally funny. no, he doesn’t expect you to find it funny, either. he expects least of all for you to fold over the kitchen island and start cackling like cruella de vil on helium.
han turns around from his seat on the couch. chan’s footsteps come to a halt as he emerges from the bathroom. both of them have fear in their eyes as they witness your undoing.
the only thing on changbin’s face, though, is unfettered delight.
“b-baby,” he sputters with a growing smile. “are you—”
you lift your face off the marble surface and turn to face him. the entirety of your forehead and the point of your nose is covered in flour. you blow a cloud of the stuff out of your mouth like a dragon awoken from slumber.
he loses it.
the two of you make your way onto the floor in slow motion, ending in a tangled heap against the side of the counter. changbin tries to clean off the flour and smears it all over your cheeks instead. you are zero help whatsoever, smacking his bicep like that’ll help you catch your breath. your synchronized, diabolical laughter reaches every corner of the apartment. your happiness reaches every nerve ending.
chan and han look at each other, sigh. han takes a video.
Tumblr media
hyunjin + side-eyeing. this man is so god awful at controlling his face, bless him…and DAMN HIM.
on one hand, you love how in tune with his emotions he is, how confidently he puts them on display. and you love your synergy. you come closer to believing in soulmates every time you glance his way and discover your exact feelings written all over his features; it’s a special type of happiness, sharing a brain with your favorite person in the world.
on the other hand, you think there’s a time and place for candor, and he tends, well, not to think at all. during many a precarious situation, you’ll catch him wearing an expression so transparent that he might as well arrange the words THIS IS STUPID AND I HATE ALL OF YOU over his head in neon lights. cue a dig of your heel into his toe, a hiss of pain cut short by your piercing glare. if you’d known ahead of time that dating hwang hyunjin would have you doing so much damage control…you’d still date him, let’s be real. but you do get stressed at times.
the night the tables turn, you’re at a celebratory dinner for your coworker’s birthday. small caveat: you can’t stand her. she’s the type to spontaneously combust if she goes two minutes without talking about herself. certainly doesn’t help that she’s downing champagne like water, and her lips are looser than ever.
hyunjin comes with you, fortunately. or not. he spends the whole evening trying so hard not to laugh: snorting into his bread, excusing himself to “cough.” you think he actually starts doing breathing exercises at some point. you’re so, so grateful that he’s here, but you’re also deathly afraid that he’s gonna bring out those neon lights in front of your entire office.
then, she flirts with him.
from the opposite end of the table. perfectly wasted but still knowing perfectly well that he’s yours. the whole patio goes silent. hyunjin’s jaw hits the table.
your fork clatters to your plate.
FUCK time and place.
the side-eye you give her is devastating. truly masterful. your brow furrows. your eyes turn to slits. your gaze does the up-down-up of unadulterated incredulity. hyunjin recognizes the motions straightaway and starts smiling so hard his whole face hurts.
you take your boyfriend’s wrist and stand up. he follows suit. you don’t say a thing as you leave the restaurant, and you don’t have to. the intensity of your disdain was more than enough; anything more and she might’ve started crying.
once you’re on the curb outside, hyunjin pulls on your interlocked hands, brings you close. his lips brush against the shell of your ear. you hear laughter and his smirk in his voice.
“you’re so fucking sexy, holy shit.”
Tumblr media
jisung + how he applies lip balm. that han jisung is the pioneer of modern day babygirlism is the worst kept secret in the world. that han jisung applies lip balm the riveting way he does, however, is unknown even to you. until one morning.
you pop into the bathroom and make your usual beeline for your toothbrush, only to end up motionless in front of the sink, staring. jisung is a bit off to the side, hair pinned back by a cinnamoroll headband, eyes glued to his phone, hand holding a tube of chapstick that you can actually see getting shorter in real time. he looks so pensive, so concentrated. how long has it been since he last blinked? you’ve half a mind to pull out a stopwatch.
finally, he rubs his lips together, recaps the chapstick, and makes eye contact with you in the mirror. a smile crosses his face, equal parts confused and amused.
“baby, your mouth is open.”
you close it. then you open it again, and your words come out in a barely-contained laugh: “what on earth did you just do?”
“what do you mean?”
“the—” you point at his mouth, then do your best impression of an elementary schooler trying to color inside the lines. “—that.”
jisung looks aghast. “that was LIP BALM.”
“no, i know what it—you’re so—i meant, why do you apply it like that?”
jisung continues to look aghast. “like what?”
“like you’re one of socrates’ prized pupils and the answer to the universe’s formation lies at the bottom of—” you step in close, reach into the pocket of his sweatpants. “—this tube!”
it might be the craziest thing you’ve ever said to him. he bursts into laughter, the kind that leaves him no recollection of what he does with his limbs, and when he can see straight again he discovers he’s pressed you gently against the counter. his fingers latched around the hem of your top, his grin inches away from yours. can’t stay away from you to save his life, this one.
“do i actually?”
“yes! holy shit, it’s so cute.” your arms circle around his neck, also without an ounce of thought, also through a fit of giggles. “no way you’ve always done that, right?”
“i don’t know. i’ve never thought about it.” a pause. a tilt of his head, with purpose. “am i…doing it wrong?”
the question is a trap and you realize it too late. your gaze drops from his eyes to his lips—a ray of sunlight glistens off the pink plush like a paid actor—then back to his eyes. let’s find out.
you lean in. so does he. and his mouth tastes and feels like melted fucking sugar. it’s such a pleasant surprise that you actually moan, and he chuckles against you. lifts you onto the edge of the sink. your mind really goes empty after that, save for one thought. i have to start doing that.
Tumblr media
felix + checking his own pulse. you saw it from afar, the first time.
he stood by the stage’s entrance just before curtain up, pointer and middle finger pressed against the side of his neck. eyelids sealed closed, chest heaving. you tilted your head, puzzled. worried. then the concert began, and you pushed the image to the back of your mind.
it returned to the forefront right before bed.
“you do it when you’re nervous?”
“yeah. forces me to ground myself. turns off the world for a bit.” the hand rubbing circles into your back paused. “wanna give it a go?”
“what, checking my pulse?”
“mine.”
you lifted your head off the pillow. felix took your hand from where it sat upon his ribs, isolating two fingers and nestling them over his jugular. his quickened heartbeat pressed into your skin like the world’s gentlest tattoo.
the sixty seconds began and concluded in total silence.
“well?” he whispered.
“ninety-three,” you answered, lightheaded from the sheer intimacy of it all. “you’re nervous right now?”
“something like that,” he hummed. pulled you down, kissed you deeply. there were no more words exchanged that night.
the habit surfaced more than you knew. while driving to visit your parents. after a stupid argument with a bouquet of flowers tucked beneath his free arm. you started doing it for him in the times he couldn’t, and he’d cover your hand with his own and kiss the top of your head silently, gratefully.
two years have passed since, and you’ve vanished from the dinner table.
felix asks the nearest waiter for directions to the restrooms. you don’t notice when the door swings open, unmoving in your spot over the sink, your pointer and middle finger pressed against the side of your neck.
his hand finds your hip. you let him turn you around and bring you to his chest; he glances at the crystalline droplets studding your lashes and falling from your cheeks. his eyes convey what his mouth doesn’t need to, not anymore.
let me.
you do.
his fingers replace yours the moment you drop them from under your jaw, the movement like clockwork. he counts your every heartbeat with unblinking concentration, his heart growing heavier the higher the number climbs.
the sixty seconds begin and conclude in total silence.
“well?” you whisper.
“hundred and six,” he answers. to his confusion, a smile pulls at your lips.
he wonders if it’s a trick of the bathroom lights when he sees the tiny box you pluck from your pocket, but there’s no mistaking the reality of the diamond ring that sits behind its open lid.
the earth slants under his feet.
“crazy.” you giggle through your tears, run your thumb over his cheekbone. “that’s how many years i want with you.”
Tumblr media
seungmin + poking eyes(?) he’s hardly touched puppym when your voice is slicing through the living room air like a fucking beyblade.
“KIM SEUNGMIN, UNHAND HIM THIS INSTANT.”
do you have a sixth sense just for this? he throws his hands up in exasperation. “he’s literally me. i’m allowed to do whatever i want with me.”
“he’s not you, he’s our son.” you pop out of nowhere to swipe the plushie from over your boyfriend’s shoulder. “my son, if you keep this up.”
“just say you hate me and my preferred avenues of self expression.”
upside-down, he watches you dust off puppym’s face and smooch his forehead with a tenderness that makes seungmin unhappier than he lets on. you then tuck him into your jacket pocket. the little shit’s expression looks strangely smug poking out of its cotton capsule.
“i’m asking you to not gauge his eyes out, not to deliver me the holy grail,” you say. “you’ll survive.”
but then he feels your hands on either side of his face, and you lean over him like the mj to his peter, leave a kiss on the space between his eyes, too. he has zero say in the bashful smile this brings to his face.
“but why do you do that, seriously?” you mutter.
“i have no idea,” he replies. “but it’s fun. try it.”
“i’ll think about it.” you lean in again, and he nearly forgets what you were talking about in the first place when you kiss him on the lips this time. “okay, i’ve thought about it. no.”
“hate you,” he says despite the literal hearts in his eyes, and then you’re off to work.
puppym takes strikingly after his father. they have the same bangs. the same compulsively squeezable quality. the same little :3 that can only allude to sinister plottings. you’d be loath to admit that you sort of comprehend seungmin’s poking predisposition.
one night, seungmin falls asleep before you even finish your nighttime routine, and you spot in his peaceful, upturned face an opportunity.
you lie belly-down on your side of the bed. your fingers splay into a peace-sign in the air. your smile stretches further into a cheshire grin the closer you bring your hand. you’re just about to reach the ends of his eyelashes when—
“I KNEW IT!”
you almost catapult into the ceiling. then you try to make a mad dash for the bathroom. but seungmin shoots a hand around your wrist like he’s actually peter parker and pins you down before you so much as take a step. your only remaining option is to sulk about your foiled plans. (and blush, because, well, you’re under him.)
“amateur,” he tsks. “you gotta test my breathing to make sure i’m asleep first. shit’s foolproof.”
you blink at him for a few seconds. his words finally click.
now you almost catapult him into the ceiling.
“HOW MANY TIMES?”
Tumblr media
jeongin + eating food in one bite. so you might be an instigator.
“hwuck,” he grumbles around the whole ice cream cone in his mouth, face scrunched up in a brain-freeze-induced wince. “ayee ith waz a bah iyeah.” (translation: fuck, maybe this was a bad idea.)
“you got this. just take it slow,” you urge, except he’s stopped moving and speaking and closed his eyes as if he’s descending into a deep sleep. you’re actually concerned for about two seconds, and then his jaw begins to oscillate leisurely like an elderly cow in his favorite pasture. false alarm.
after some time, he swallows, beams. “so am i the fucking best or what.”
“yeah you are,” you echo, and he swings an arm over your shoulder, plants a chocolatey kiss on your temple. the two of you celebrate his daesangs with less enthusiasm.
“when are you doing that with me, by the way?”
“the one-bite thing?” he nods. “mmm, coaches don’t play.”
“mmm, this one will.”
“doubtful.”
fast forward a few weeks and you, jeongin, and his younger brother are sitting cross-legged on the porch in his backyard. three full-sized oranges rest in the center of your makeshift circle. damn is yoon hard to say no to. (runs in the family.)
“the rules!” he declares. “eat the orange whole! first to swallow it wins! you can’t spit it out!”
you wait. “is that it?”
“yes!”
why was the delivery so grand?
jeongin places a fond hand atop his brother’s head. “i’ve brought you a new loser, yoonie. get excited.”
you feign an indifferent scoff, but jeongin spots the fire that ignites behind your eyes like that of an anime protagonist, the resolute grip with which you palm your orange. he smirks. he’s never known you to take trash talk sitting down. or sitting cross-legged on his porch.
yoon counts you off. “ready…”
“good luck, coach,” jeongin sings.
“shut up, pipsqueak.”
“set…GO!”
in amusing unison, you and yoon try and fail to fasten your teeth around even half of the fruit. jeongin, meanwhile, fits the whole thing into his black hole of an oral cavity and launches into that dumb cow impression again.
desperate times call for desperate measures.
you rip the orange from your lips. “yoon! your brother’s ticklish, right?”
both yang siblings’ eyes widen—the younger’s in growing delight, the older’s in impending horror.
the latter reacts first. “ay, ay, ay, ah ahes eh ooles!” (translation: wait, wait, wait, that’s against the rules!)
but the former moves first, and you’re right behind him.
jeongin weakens when the younger boy assaults his sides, crumples when you target the back of his neck, the sounds leaving his mouth getting progressively louder and somehow even less intelligible.
he eventually has to spit out the orange to avoid death by pulp going down the wrong pipe and spins around in indignation, wiping at his chin with the back of his hand. but his annoyance—
you’re back on the floor, gnawing hopelessly at the the orange again. “ih ih eawahin, ooh.” (translation: this is embarrassing, yoon.)
yoon replies, “huh?” (translation: huh?)
—dissipates, immediately.

Tumblr media
bang chan
chris noticed... almost immediately that was off about you. the embarrassing part was that it was partially due to the fact you didn't greet him with your usual "hi, i'm home" kiss.
it wasn't that chris looked forward to that kiss (he did, but that wasn't the point). he liked to think he was just... attuned to you. that he could feel the general vibe you had whenever you entered a room. he wasn't missing your "i'm home" kiss--he was merely noticing that you weren't feeling great. that something was weighing on your mind. so he called out as he heard you go back to the kitchen to get something to drink, asking about your day.
immediately, he heard you let out a long sigh. "work was awful and then i missed my bus so i had to take a cab."
chris nodded. "ah. gotcha."
you made your way over, sitting down next to him. "... did i do something?" you looked over toward the door, trying to retrace your steps. you hadn't slammed the door, and you hadn't been too late coming home...
"nah!" he looked over, "i mean, you kinda didn't give me a kiss when you came home. figured something was wrong."
you stared at him for a moment. did you really always give him a kiss when you came home? you liked to, because it was your own little way of saying "hi, i missed you," to him with just a quick peck. after a moment, you leaned in, pressing a quick peck against the corner of his lips before planting another on his lips proper.
"there," you giggled. "is that better?"
judging by the way chris giggled back, pulling you in for a third... maybe not. (but it wasn't as if you were going to complain.)
lee minho
usually, minho didn't mind whether you kissed him or not. he'd always enjoy your kisses, and found it endearing that you pressed a quick kiss against his lips whenever you came home, but he never asked nor would he ever force you to do it. sometimes he'd kiss you as a greeting, though, just because he liked to see your smile.
other times, when he was feeling a little more devious... he'd call out to you, just like he did tonight. "you forgot something!"
you came back into the room, shirt half-unbuttoned as you'd been in the middle of changing. you furrowed your brow, pouting a little as you tried to figure out what was wrong.
he just smiled at you. "you did."
a moment later, it hit you. you snorted, and made your way over, pulling him in for a kiss that lasted a few seconds longer than the usual one you usually gave him. your hands fell to his shoulders, and you drew back. "there. is that better?"
"i missed you," he giggled. "is that so wrong?"
you rolled your eyes, and gave him another peck on the tip of his nose. "love you, too, you dork," you said, pulling away from him to go change.
(and the sound of your laugh as you continued away despite the way he lunged to grab at you, just barely missing your ass... all minho could do was smile to himself.)
seo changbin
changbin was a reasonable guy. he waited a reasonable amount of time (ten minutes: you said you weren't going to shower or anything yet) before approaching you in the kitchen. "are you mad?"
you looked up from where you were working on dinner. he was so genuine about the question, and it threw you for a loop. had you done something to imply that you were...? all you did was get started on dinner because it was your night to cook. "what?"
"we always talk about these things," he said with a sigh. he crossed his arms, leaning against the counter, eyes bearing into your own, "did i do something? you can tell me if i did. it's okay."
"binnie, honey, i have no idea what you're talking about."
"really?" he frowned, and gave you this look of disbelief. "you always give me a kiss when you come home, and today, you didn't. do i need to run to the store? did i forget something--"
oh! you almost laughed at how adorable he could be sometimes. "nope," you said, reaching forward to pull him in. "just got distracted when i got home." ever so casually, you kissed him, and planted an extra on the corner of his mouth. "good to know you'd miss my kisses, though."
changbin just pulled you in again with a giggle, content to steal a few more from you before he let you go... for now.
hwang hyunjin
hyunjin didn't notice at first. he'd been curled up on the couch with a book when you came home, carrying a few bags of groceries that you insisted on handling yourself since they were for tonight's dinner. it was your night to cook after all, and--after asking to make sure you didn't want help--he settled back into his spot.
and then it hit him eventually: you... didn't kiss him when you came home. why didn't you kiss him? you always went out of your way to do it, after all. he leaned up, looking over to where he could see you deeply concentrating on the recipe you were reading. then again, you had set down the groceries and lounged around for a little bit first--the two of you had even talked during that. maybe you were mad at him? he knew he'd been petty about things before and denied you kisses as a result. maybe he was the one who was supposed buy groceries...? but you didn't give him a list or text him anything...
"honey?" he called out.
immediately, it caught you attention. 'honey' wasn't really his usual term of endearment for some reason: you were always his love, his baby. "what's wrong?"
his face grew warmer--was it really that concerning? "nothing--" he started, but realized that you only grew more concerned. "you didn't kiss me when you came home."
"oh."
he decided to keep going, "did i do something--"
"if you want it," you cut him off, "then come get it."
he just stared at you. "... what?"
"i was thinking about dinner," you said, turning back to what you were cooking. "but if you want that kiss, you'll have to come get it."
hyunjin found himself smiling, pushing aside his blanket and the book to get up and make his way over to you. he kissed you, smiling into it as well, as his hands fell to rest on your waist.
all better.
han jisung
jisung was not afraid to admit that he was deeply in love with you. and sometimes... that meant he'd overthink the little things. his heart was so full of devotion to you that sometimes he'd get too deep in his own head, trying not to do anything to wrong you. of course, he knew you, and he knew that you'd always accommodate him by telling him things outright. if he hurt you, you pointed it out and asked for space so that the two of you talk things out properly when both of you were ready for it. but today you were sitting at the other end of the couch, a pillow hugged against your chest as the two of you watched TV. or, well, you watched TV. jisung was watching you.
"hey." his foot bumped against your leg. "did something happen today?"
you tore your gaze away from the screen, brows drawing together. "no?" yet you continued to watch him for a moment, eyes scanning his face for anything that would give him away. "are you okay?"
he nodded. even that confused 'no?' was enough to soothe his thoughts. you would be honest with him, after all: that was what the two of you did. he settled into the couch. "i'm fine," he said, hoping it sounded casual enough.
yet you tilted your head, as if trying to get a better look at him. "baby?" you set the pillow onto the floor, moving a little closer. "did i forget something?"
he grew flustered immediately. "it's okay--it's not a big deal--"
"ohh," you lit up, smiling as you already knew. he liked the twinkle in your eyes whenever you knew something. "i know what it was." you crawled over to him, teasing him a little, "my jisungie didn't get his kiss today--"
he found himself unable to fight back a smile. "it's not a big deal, honey--"
"nope!" you giggled, and practically launched yourself at him. he'd end up pinned against the couch, "gotta make up for it with extra kisses for worrying my jisungie."
god, he loved you. you peppered kisses all over his face despite his laughter, slightly pushing back against where your hands were at his wrists to try and re-ground himself better against the couch, yet you didn't let go. sure, maybe you were hamming it up and acting extra cute for him... but he knew what this was. it was a message, loud and clear, that you cared about him wholeheartedly. you knew he could get anxious sometimes, especially when it came to potentially accidentally upsetting you. 'i want to make you happy' was what you told him once. he hoped you could feel the way he smiled into the soft kiss you pressed against his lips. when you drew back, you just stayed there, hovering over him and admiring how the glow of happiness looked on him.
"i'm home," you said.
jisung just brushed a stray strand of hair away. yeah... you are his home.
lee felix
as much as felix wanted to whine at you playfully for forgetting to kiss him when you came home (a staple of your relationship, he'd joke)... he couldn't help but worry. he continued to work at dinner, mentally going over your interactions today. he knew you well enough to know that he hadn't done anything to upset you unless you were having an off day where everything annoyed you (no shame in it, he thought; he had those days, too). it wasn't until after he finished making dinner that he called out to you.
"did something happen today?"
you looked up, brows drawn together, but he could see the fatigue on your face from stressing about something. "no?"
he set aside what he was doing, making his way over to where you were sitting, laptop open in front of you. you changed tabs immediately away from whatever you were doing for work right as felix began to knead at your shoulders.
"this is cheating," you whined, head dipping back so you could see his face.
"and i'd do it again," he said, dipping down to plant a quick peck against your forehead. "you can talk if you need to. i don't mind listening."
with a sigh, you shut your eyes while felix continued to massage your shoulders. sure enough, there was someone you had to deal with at work that had annoyed you enough that you were still running through the conversations hours later. he just stood there, listening and nodding along as he continued to work his magic on your tense muscles.
when you finished, he leaned down to press another quick kiss against your lips. "feeling better?"
"a lot, actually," you sat straighter in your chair, reaching forward to close your laptop. "thank you, lixie."
kim seungmin
seungmin had sat on the couch for too damn long, pretending that everything was fine. yes, you didn't kiss him when you came home, but that didn't mean anything. clearly, it didn't mean anything. except maybe you were mad at him, and you were withholding a stupid kiss because of it instead of talking it out like adults. that was what the two of you agreed on: no going to bed mad. to say that you were mad and needed space. not... whatever this is.
"seungmin?" you had sat down at the other end of the couch. "what's eating you?"
his eyes were a little too sharp when he looked at you, frustration all too evident on his face when he was supposed to be hiding it. "that's what i should be asking you."
and then... genuine, unfiltered confusion. your brows drew together as you watched him, smile falling. oh.
fuck. you weren't mad at him.
"never mind," he says quickly, "it's stupid--"
you moved over so that you could reach out and take one of his hands in your own, "seungminnie, it's not stupid if it's bothering you!"
ah. using cuteness to get what you wanted. unfair. "you didn't kiss me when you came home like you always do, so i thought you were mad. so then i got made because we agreed to always talk things out."
immediately, you giggled. "aw, seungmin... you really like my kisses that much?"
when you leaned forward to kiss him, he immediately shrank away, trying to block your mouth from his own. "no! not now! it's not the same now!"
yet your laugh was enough to make him drop the act. your lips pressed against his, and he smiled into the kiss, happy to have your arms around him... even if you'd never let him live this down.
yang jeongin
jeongin considered himself one of the more mature people in his friend group. sure, he could be silly and goof off sometimes, but he'd heard his other friends with partners complain about the tiniest things that turned out to be nothing. so with you, he felt a little comfortable in assuming that your "i'm home" kiss just slipped your mind. you'd texted him your bus was running late, so he'd decided to make you a cup of tea for when you came in. and when you threw yourself onto the couch, saying nothing to him for a while...
well, jeongin had a pretty strong feeling that you needed someone to listen to you instead. he'd sat down next to you, passing you the mug as he leaned in to press a quick peck against your lips. his own little "welcome home" kiss that he'd try to greet you with sometimes, if given the chance.
"do you want to talk about it?"
he watched as you took a long sip of tea, letting out a sigh once you'd set the mug down. "work sucked."
jeongin nodded. "and your bus was late..."
another heavy sigh. you turned your face to look at him, reaching for his hand. he gave it to you without any teasing, and watched as you pressed a kiss against his knuckles.
"are you sure it's fine for me to unload all of this on you?"
"that's what i'm here for," he hummed, sliding in a little closer so that he could draw you closer. "you listen to me, right?"
the hint of a smile ghosted over your lips, and jeongin watched as you settled in, head resting on his shoulder. "right..."
he just pressed another kiss into your hair as you launched into telling him about your day. no need for you to worry about giving him any 'i'm home' kisses: jeongin would supply you with as many 'welcome home' kisses as you needed to make you smile again.

#: mafia!felix, (gn)barista!reader, inspired by victon's stupid o'clock
!_it's love at first sight for Felix, who is part of a mafia unit that will be using your café as HQ
[💌: i've been reading so much on here recently and so many authors just make me go !?!?!?!? the talent is insane.. i have so much to learn i feel so small T'T)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i can accomdate your fantasy
Felix was not a simp. nope, he was far from it. in fact, him observing you to know what you like was totally normal. it was also normal that he changed himself to become what you like.
maybe... it wasn't normal.
but he was not a simp. mafia members couldn't be simps.
it was a regular tuesday when his eyes fell on you for the first time.
his unit of the mafia, 08, had changed their meeting spot to the café you worked at. the rest of your workers, and also you, all knew that you were hq for the mafia. it was the condition for receiving such a large sum of money, enough to help bring the business back to life.
your café was failing, hard. your boss was worried and didn't want to lay people off. then, the leader of 08 managed to find your café and offer a large some of money to make it hq. how could your boss say no?
anyways, back to tuesday.
08 walked into the café, dressed like regular people. you were sweeping and mopping behind the counter, thinking they were just customers here to take a look despite the door sign saying [closed] to prepare for 08's arrival.
"i'm sorry, but we're closed today--" you started.
"earl grey lemonade," said Bang Chan, the leader.
your eyes widened, you dropped the mop and scurried to the back to get your boss. earl grey lemonade was 08's code word.
at this point, Felix still hadn't seen you yet. he was talking with Seungmin about something. it was when you hurried back out, standing behind your boss, when he finally saw you.
you.
do you see me now?
was it love at first sight or was he just intrigued?
the way your apron was hanging crooked on your frame because you rushed around so much, the way your uniform underneath had flour stains from working the bakery that morning, the way that your shoes were somehow so clean, your hair was neat and your sleeves were rolled up equally on both arms.
Felix got lost in your eyes.
don't give me those anxious eyes
you were staring at Bang Chan, who was talking to your boss, but Felix still got lost in those precious eyes of yours and how you chewed on your lip. he didn't know you, he didn't know a thing about you but he could tell you were nervous. he felt bad. he wanted you to be comfortable--
"Felix!" Bang Chan called.
"yes," Felix spoke softly.
your eyes were on him now and he became the nervous one.
"i need you to help y/n clean up their basement. that's where we'll be situated when we're here. y/n can't do everything alone so go help them out while we figure things out up here," Bang Chan said.
y/n... was that your name? ah, how could he have missed it. it was even written on your name tag, along with a cute drawing of your favourite fruit beside it.
you stepped away from your boss and beckoned for Felix to follow you to the basement.
just rely on me as much as you want
"the basement is scary.. i'm glad i'm not being sent there alone," you admitted, making Felix laugh.
his deep tone even while he laughed gave you goosebumps. it was probably the only thing about him that maybe screamed 'mafia', because on the outside right now, he was just a soft smol boy with a blonde mullet and freckles.
"ah, where are the lights!? i'm so scared i'm so scared... F-Felix right? please talk to me so i know i'm not alone," you stuttered, fumbling along the walls for a light switch.
"uh... uhhh y/n! don't be scared, we'll find the light switch soon. we'll find it and then we'll be able to safely clean-up together! don't be scared--"
you'll fall for me
his voice was deep, low, and you kind of didn't want to stop hearing it, but finally turning the lights on cause his beautiful ramblings to stop. you were out of the darkness, but you no longer got to hear Felix's voice.
"aha, there's the light!" Felix exclaimed, beaming.
his smile looked so precious, and you wondered for the thousandth time how such a precious person could be in the mafia.
"how about we started by dusting things off and moving the furniture to where it needs to be? then we can sweep, mop, vaccum, all that stuff," you explained.
"sure!"
"i can't believe i'm giving orders to a mafia member... please forgive me," you half-joked.
Felix shook his head and waved his hands around.
this is my daily
"no, no, it's okay! i'll take any orders if they're from you, y/n," Felix said, unknowingly and accidentally making your heart flutter.
"ah, is that so.." you mumbled, not sure what to say because of how nervous you suddenly were.
"well.. take this! and you can dust off some of the furniture over there. i'll do the same here," you said, handing him a broom.
he took it with a nod and set to work, dusting things off. it was only a few seconds in when you decided it was too quiet.
"Felix.. i want to play some music. do you wanna pick some songs?" you asked.
you watched his eyes glimmer as he walked over, surprisingly tiny hands reaching for your phone.
"i have some song recommendations, if you want to hear them," he said.
"of course!" you replied, handing him your phone.
every night, i'll be you, you'll be me
and that's how the two of you ended up cleaning the basement while music flooded every corner. that's also how the two of you ended up hand in hand, Felix turning you around and you giggling shyly in his embrace as you swayed to the melody playing from your phone.
you were just trying to lighten up the mood, asking Felix jokingly to dance with you. before you knew it, he gently wrapped his arms around your waist and guided you across the basement.
"is this okay?" he asked in his low tone.
"of course it is," you replied.
you knew that for him, anything would be okay. he could step on you and it would be okay. somehow, you'd already fallen for him just a bit.
"what's going on down here? have you cleaned up--oh," your boss said, coming face-to-face with you and Felix embracing to the beat of the music.
you were lucky you and your boss were quite close, or you may have been given some kind of warning or worse: fired. they simply backed up the stairs and returned to help the rest of the 08 members make their hideout more secure.
by then, you and Felix had already moved away from each other, continue to clean.
the rest of the hour was spent in silence, only music filling the void as everything was dusted and cleaned. then, the rest of the 08 unit were called down to help move furniture and install equipment. you stood next to your boss by the door frame, watching since there was nothing you could help with.
you're gonna be obsessed
"what the heck happened with that boy when i came down here to check on you?" your boss asked.
you were too busy staring at him to hear a word they said. the way Felix's flannel fluttered around his frame with his every move, the way his laugh lit up his whole face--
"y/n? i'm talking to you."
"huh?! oh, sorry... Felix?! well, i didn't want cleaning to be boring for him so i played some music," you explained.
"that doesn't explain why the two of you were dancing... anyways. you know he's in the mafia. be careful."
--
you're caught, stuck in my arms
from that day on, you never left Felix's mind. he kind of hoped it was the same for you, and his hopes were fulfilled. you wondered when you'd see him again.
a few days later, you were asked to open the café early at 5am, since the 08 unit needed access to the basement at that time. they couldn't exactly be there at that time without the café running to avoid suspicion.
so, you got there at 4:30am and began putting the chairs down, making sure the area was clean, preparing the baked goods and all the coffee machines.
"good morning," you heard a whisper and footsteps.
you looked up to see the 08 unit, clad in all-black. their outfits were tight, leathery, almost like something out of a movie. seeing Felix also dressed like that made you gulp.
"g-good morning. basement's door's unlocked," you said.
Felix smiled at your stutter.
"can we have some coffee?" Seungmin asked, earning him a smack from Felix.
"don't bother them when they've got their own things to do," Felix said.
"no, it's okay! i can get coffee for you all," you said.
--
come to me, say you are all mine
"coffee delivery!" you called down as you entered the basement.
it was so alive with everyone hard at work.
you helped everyone get their coffees before leaving to go upstairs. just as you reached the door to the main floor, you heard someone follow you up. when you turned around, you found Felix just a few steps behind you. he motioned quietly for you to keep going up.
"aren't you supposed to stay in the basement?" you asked.
he brought his delicate fingers to your lips to shush you as you both stood by the front counter of the café.
"yeah, i can't be up here. but it's 5am, no one'll come by, right?" he said with a wink.
push me away / but you'll fall back again
you felt flustered, looking away.
Felix felt some sort of courage when he was with you. from taking hold of you just a few days ago to dance with you, to now suddenly raising your chin up so you'd meet his eyes. you made him feel confident.
"i just wanted to ask for your number. so i can text you when i'm bored... oh and also for emergencies," he explained.
you laughed and took his phone, typing in your number.
"do you even have time to be bored?" you asked.
this long night is only filled with me
"my time is all yours," he said before hurrying back down, feeling embarrassed.
as soon as he swung the basement door open, Seungmin was stood there.
"i knew you have a crush on y/n," he said.
"shut up. mafia members don't have crushes. now go down," Felix responded.
Seungmin stuck his tongue out and continued to tease him all the way down.
--
come to me, say you are all mine
Felix: i miss you
you: you just saw me today?
Felix: barely :(
Felix: i wanna see you...
you had only seen Felix twice in person, yet he was being so honest about his feelings. it took you off guard yet excited you. so, you asked him to come to your house instead of meeting at the café, like he suggested. you felt it would be safer and more comfortable.
something about him made you want to trust him.
the second you heard his knock on the door, you raced to greet him, now having changed into more appropriate clothes than just your pjs. he stood there, still glad in black leather.
"hi, y/n," he greeted in his deep voice.
"Felix! you must be tired, come--wait. what's that on your cheek?!"
i could burn myself everyday, maybe
you noticed the gash on Felix's cheek too late, being so excited that he was even standing there.
he touched his cheek with his delicate fingers, bringing them back down stained with blood. then, his face lit up as he spoke to you again.
"ah, this?! we had to chase some guy away from the café. i think he was there to cause trouble.. he pulled.. a weapon on me but anyway! it all ended up fine."
the way he smiled so hard his eyes creased so he would avoid worrying you made your heart melt, but you still raced to get your first-aid kit and told him to sit on your couch.
fill your night with me
when you came back, you carefully disinfected the cut and carefully stuck a hello kitty band-aid on it.
"i'm sorry for the silly band-aid... it's all i have," you said, kneeling in front of him on the floor.
he looks into the mirror you gave him and, for the millionth time that night, smiled.
"don't be sorry, y/n. i love it."
you offered him a glass of water and he took a few sips before placing it on the coffee table in front of you.
"y/n, this is so abrupt but... i think i've fallen for you and no time has really passed since the day we first met," Felix said confidently, looking straight ahead instead of next to him, where you sat.
'cause you're mine
you were glad he couldn't see how nervous you were getting.
"i want to get you know you better so... i can make you mine. do you think you'll be mine?"
when you gathered the courage to look at him, you noticed he was returning your gaze. sat up straight, lips pushed out and eyes relaxed... he's so handsome, you thought. even with a hello kitty band-aid on, his charisma could not be killed.
"we definitely need time but..." i already know i'd do anything for you, is what you wanted to say. instead, you said, "i can see myself being yours."
Felix smirked slightly, looking down at the ground.
even if morning comes and ruins this
"i won't let the sunrise take this night away from us. let's talk about each other, okay? you go first, y/n, i'm all ears. tell me about some of the things you like," Felix said.
just like that, Felix opened you up. he made you feel safe, so you told him everything you wanted to, bit by bit.

The bustling sound of people welcomed you the moment the doors of the cafe opened and a gentle melody from the door chime announces your arrival. It was the usual Saturday morning, a busy environment where the staff take the orders and clean the tables. You always come to visit when you get the free time and today was no different. Another school year will end in a few days and summer break is already peeking, Felix is excited about it.
The sun was high, you never would want to underestimate summer, the sky was so clear and blue, and clouds slowly pass by as the wind pushed them through. It was one of the season's hottest days as you like the idea of being under the shade of a tree at the park while reading a book. But you can’t stand the heat and ended up in a cafe having brunch, and a book left open on a free hand. Felix was nowhere to be found yet.
It was his idea to make you wait at the cafe, but with a book as a companion and a half-eaten sandwich with iced coffee wouldn’t be so lonely. He did say he was running late through the phone call you had before you even arrived. Flipping a page on the book meant it was another bite from the food. Words had you mesmerized and drowned in deep, never mind the sounds of people. It was just a good way to distract yourself from reality. College is like living in hell, even if the professors were good, it doesn’t go the easy way.
A sigh escaped your lips not realizing the plate was already empty and the coffee remained untouched. The ice was melting inside the liquid dripped down from the cup as the book was almost finished. A love and hate relationship of sad endings makes you tear up a bit, but you try to hold it back from the public. Your hand reached for the cup of iced coffee, slowly sipping at the straw and your eyes darted to the words. Felix is not around yet.
Another deep sigh was made as a response to disappointment, you had to check the time on your phone for a break and glance at the glass wall. Taking a sip from your coffee, the outside world is starting to get so bright, just like how Felix would smile under the sunshine. But the poor boy is running late, cursing mentally about the thought of being dismissed late by his stupid Saturday classes. Who in the right mind would make a weekend to spend in school anyway?
He made a segway at the block, his hoodie in his hand, flying through the wind as he dashed towards your favorite cafe. His bag was bouncing on his back as his hair went against the hot air. Face filled with panic and hurry, it wasn’t his thing to be late. A few seconds later, his hand met the handle of the door as the door chime announced his presence. His eyes immediately searched the area for you, and there he found you sitting beside the glass wall, sipping on your coffee, head hung low for the book. A deep sigh escaped from his lips as his footsteps brought him to your table.
“Hey, Y/n, I’m sorry I’m late,” He said.
“It’s okay, good morning,” You answered standing up to give him a quick hug before settling into your respective seats.
“Good morning,” He said, still catching his breath. “Oh my God, I shouldn’t have run,” He sighs again, placing his back and jacket on the floor.
“It’s chill okay, I know your professor so well, he didn’t like the sound of the bell for a break,” You chuckled. “And if you don’t mind, I already ate, I was so hungry,”
“No big deal, really,” He smiled, wiping his sweat on his forehead as he noticed the book you were reading. “What are you reading?” He asked.
“Me Before You,” You answered flipping a page from the book.
“Isn’t that a movie?” He asked again, leaning closer to see.
“Yeah,” You said, eyes darted on the very first paragraph on the page.
“That was tragic,” He commented as you sigh. “I mean, how could he not change his mind?”
“He doesn’t want Lou to get hurt,” You said shaking your head, leaving a bookmark in the middle before closing the book. “Anyway, what’s up?”
“Nothing really,” He said. “Summer break is almost over, do you have plans before the semester starts?”
“Hmm, there’s nothing actually, maybe prepare for the next school year? I don’t know,” You shrugged taking the book back into your bag. “By the way, what did you call me here for?”
“Well, I did have something to tell you,” He started as you leaned at the backrest of your seat, crossing your arms against your chest.
“I’m listening,” You smiled as Felix cleared his throat.
“So uhm, I was having FaceTime with mom last week and we talked about the places where she’s been doing interior designs, it happened that there’s this small penthouse just by the seaside in *****,” He paused. “And then I thought, it’s almost summer break anyway and she told me to be her first guest, I was wondering if you’d go with me,”
Words started to ring in your ears, “You want me to what?”
“I wanted you to go on a trip with me,” He said, eyes firmly looking at yours as you try not to blush.
“Iー er, I should probably ask mom if she’dー”
“I asked her after I called mom, and she said yes,” Felix smirked as your eyes went wide at some point. It was an excuse for a distraction that you had to take another sip of your coffee. “We’re up for 3 days by the minimum to stay,” It was all so sudden that the iced coffee blew to his face, causing you to cough so loudly. Felix started to panic, as he snatched every piece of napkin from the box to wipe it down. “God Y/n,”
“I’m sorry,” You said in between the coughs. “Are you serious though?”
“I wouldn’t tell you if I wasn’t right?” He said rolling his eyes as he wipes his face.
“I just can’t believe you’d invite me on a trip with just the two of us,” You said. “And it’s like 2 hours away from here, how did you persuade mom?”
“Your mother loves me Y/n,” He laughed as you roll your eyes in response. “Besides, my mom talked to your mom, and they had an agreement, besides, it’s free and everything, there’s food, electricity, water, anything you want, you can enjoy the sea view since the balcony is facing the horizon,”
“That sounds like summer,” You smiled.
“I know right?” He said. “So, are you up? We can extend our stay if you’d want,”
“Oh Felix, you know I can’t say no!” You chuckled and tackled him for a hug. “Thank you so much!” You said giving him a long kiss on the cheek which made him giggle.

The last few weeks of the semester came to a dramatic end as you settled inside Felix’s car which he managed to borrow from his mom. Luggage at the backseat, a playlist that is set for a 2-hour ride, and bright weather, you could feel the excitement from Felix when he’s all smiley and so pumped up. He was singing to Taylor Swift’s songs on the ride, jamming, and his head bouncing to every beat. You find it attractive of him whenever he showcases his singing voice, it’s a hidden talent of his that he doesn’t show to anyone unless he’s with you.
“I like shiny things but I’d marry you with paper rings, uh-huh, that’s right~ darling~ you’re the one I want~” You both sang to the music.
It was fun. It was the very first road trip you had with him with only just between you and him. A life out of the city felt good in the ears, how much more if you decided to stay at a house near the beach. The window fell open as you let the fresh air in the middle of the road play with your hair. His eyes were focused on the road but he couldn’t help taking a few glances at you. A smile was formed on his face as you reached out your hand to feel the wind coming against your skin.
The song changed, a famous Fiji Blue song that indicates a want for someone as it matches how he felt right at the moment. Felix cleared his throat, eyes fixed on the road but you were too beautiful as a distraction. You smiled at him, laughing as you enjoy the rare moment of being taken away. He made a cheeky smile to himself, driving the wheel with a single hand as he rested his arm at the door to make cover after being flustered. ‘Cause all I want is you, is you, it takes two~
“You want some fries? I packed a few this morning,” You asked as his eyes fell in your direction.
“Sure, feed me,”
“Okay, here we go,” You smiled, stretching out to reach for the bag of food at the back. “Say Aaah?” You added handing him a piece as he opened his mouth.
“Aaah,” He said before munching it.
“You’re so cute,” You said before munching some of your own. Felix tried to hide the pink blush on his cheeks, trying to focus himself but you already noticed it. Keeping a smile on yourself had your eyes met the horizon outside the car’s window.
You met Felix when you were kids. He used to be shy around everyone but not until he met you. Sitting together in class had sparked a friendship everyone didn’t know would last for years. Others had thought about you being a couple because of how intimate your gestures were. Holding hands, resting on each other’s shoulders, kissing them on their cheeks and the way one would look at the other. It was subtle enough to realize that one of them is already in love as the other one was being dense to see it. No one decided to talk, it’s just a relationship of indirect affection of being more than friends.
Felix fell into silence after the fries were devoured, and the music changed to a soothing one. It matches the aesthetic of the moment. Clear blue sky with a few clouds painting it white, the tall grass that swayed with the air, the mountains going green with a hint of blue from afar, birds flying by the flock, and the blue sea kilometers away. It was one of the nature views you’d always wanted to see. The gushing sounds from the city can be suffocating at times. You were so happy when Felix decided to invite you on a trip, an excuse to be alone and spend time with someone close to your heart.
His car parked at the back garage of the house as you went outside first, taking a few things to help him ease the weight of the vehicle. A suitcase in one hand and a bag filled with snacks, Felix was busy with his luggage as you were left examining the place. The penthouse was huge but it was enough for two people and he was right, the sea is just meters away from the stairs that lead to the front of the house. It was filled with trees, and the other houses were built covering an average distance, not too close and not too far away. Enough to have privacy and enjoyment of the place.
You awed in excitement, “Wow, this place is beautiful,” You said as Felix smiled at the thought.
“Wait, ‘til you see inside,” He smiled as he lead you to the back door.
“Can’t wait!” You chuckled, following him. The bags immediately met the floor as your jaw dropped at how amazing the interior was. Built-in kitchen, beside the living room, no walls diving the two but both facing the glass sliding door that leads to the balcony where you can the ocean view. It serves as the entrance, the balcony had a bunch of stairs that make way down the shore. “You could see the sunrise and sunsets here,”
“Yeah, my mom made it to have that view,” Felix said. “There’s a room upstairs and a bathroom, there’s a pantry right beside the built-in kitchen, and here is the living room. We could watch Netflix or anything,”
“Can you please tell your mom that this is so amazing?” You awed as he chuckled in response.
“You like it?” He asked.
“Like it? Please! Felix this place is so amazing! Your mom is a genius, really,” You exclaimed, as your eyes wandered around the house. “The sea view, the place where the company builds it, damn, it’s so beautiful, did I mention that I love the sea? Yes, that one too! Perfect summer vacation for me,”
“I’m happy that you love it so much Y/n,” Felix laughed as he hugged you out of excitement. He finds it cute every time and would wish to see you being like that a lot of times. It feels like it’s bringing him back to the first time you met him at school where you always smile even at small things. The excitement sparks happiness in him, and that happiness often leads to him falling into something he’s afraid of, unrequited love. Or so he thought.
“I do, really,” You smiled, hugging him back.
“Say, why don’t we unpack first, eat lunch and rest then we’ll explore the area later in the afternoon, yes?” He asked as your eyes light up.
“Sure! Oh my gosh, thank you so much,” You said kissing his cheek. “I’m going to cook alright? You need to rest after driving,” But Felix just smiled, admiring how much affection he’s been receiving from you and if someone would see you, they’d mistook you as a couple on vacation.
Afternoon came the sun is already preparing itself to dissolve at the end of the sea in a few hours. The heat became gentle as the breeze started to run a little bit cold, you and Felix were walking side by side barefoot as you had requested. It was to feel the water crashing on the shore, it tickles your skin as you playfully come for them, earning a good return of splashing towards you. Laughs were shared between you and Felix as he dragged you away from the wet ground. Sometimes you’d push him to welcome the gentle waves but failed to fall. He’d splash water in your direction as your clothes went soaked. You would chase him out as he took your shoes away for revenge.
You were both wet and running on the shore like kids who loved to play. He would stop running to catch you in his arms and sparked eye contact, faces close to each other as you stare at one another. His heart started to beat faster as your cheeks started to become hot. It was complete silence between you two as you were being drawn to each other’s eyes. His freckles were like constellations that you would want to trace your fingers gently on them. You always loved Felix as a friend, but at this moment started to feel like things are turning around.
“You’re so beautiful, you know?” He said, indulging the moment.
“I know right?” You chuckled as you pulled away, walking a few steps backward. “We’re not done yet Lee,” You smirked as you scooped water with both of your hands, throwing it to him.
“You’re so dead right now,” He said in his deep voice that makes your knees weak all of a sudden. But you stood firmly, waiting for his fireback and now he’s the one chasing you.

Time passes by as the sun meets with the other end of the ocean, wet footsteps were visible down the stairs to the kitchen floor. Half of your bodies soaking wet as the fabrics of your clothes, dripping at a gentle pace. 5:30 pm, you were too distracted outside as Felix was still laughing when both of you fell on the shore, a moment that will be kept as a memory as the vacation ends. But that one staring game had Felix hooked in a while, he’d love to do it again and admire the beauty you always have. Yet things must avoid being awkward for the sake of you two being alone for a few days.
“Y/n, please forgive me,” Felix said out of nowhere as he opened the fridge.
“What? Why?” You asked having a puzzled look, trying to drink some water after an exhausting playing in the water with him.
“I think I packed some ingredients only enough for one meal, we don’t have something to eat for dinner,” He said which made you burst out the water from your mouth, splashing everything square on his face.
“I’m sorry?” You said, coughing in between as he took some table napkins, wiping his face. “Oh right, I only packed snacks,” You added as a hand landed on your face in your disappointment.
“Right,” He sighs. “We should go to the convenience store a block from here,”
“Is there?” You asked.
“Yeah, but we should hurry, it’s almost dark,” He smiled kissing your cheek, “I’ll change clothes first yes?”
“Okay,” You said quietly.
You swear it’s normal for you and Felix to kiss each other’s cheeks like a couple, but the beating of your heart started to tell otherwise. He disappeared on the second floor leaving you dumbfounded at the kitchen island. Earning a goofy smile on your face, it didn’t take a while before slapping your cheek to prevent feeling the feelings you shouldn’t have. A sigh escaped your lips, trying to calm yourself down, it’s going to be a long 3 days at the penthouse anyway.
Ending up on the streets at 6 pm, you and Felix walked side by side, talking about what happened at the beach this afternoon. It was fun and everything, it felt like you were back as kids playing by the shore. He picked a few seashells before you could leave to change clothes, but hunger devoured you two as you take the way towards the convenience store a few minutes away. It was quiet, a few cars had passed by, streetlights were all open and birds started to fly home. Felix held your hand, intertwining your fingers. It wasn’t a big deal, it isn’t.
You rubbed the back of his hand, Felix loved the comfort, and unknowingly, his lips planted a soft kiss on your forehead. A smile was formed on your face, that was just a gesture of being friends, which he did a few times before, you thought. The night was steady, bright stars were illuminating the sky with the moon resting with them. It’s one of your favorite times of the day, a nice stroll at night can be relaxing at times, but with Felix, it seems warmer than before.
“What should we cook?” Felix asked, scanning the shelf filled with varieties of food.
“I was suddenly craving ramen,” You said, taking a pack of noodles, and reading the label.
“Should we get milk and ice cream as well?”
“And kimbap too, please! Oh and kimchi, and eggs,”
“You want samgyupsal as well?”
“Get everything!”
“Alright then,”
Snickering at the thought, you left the store carrying at least three bags filled with food. Aside from taking all the ingredients for a meal, others came out to be midnight snacks for movie nights. You were both eating ice cream as you made your way back to the penthouse when a bunch of lights suddenly caught your eyes from afar. It was too blurry, but you could sense a Ferris wheel as a landmark. One that was huge enough to capture one’s attention, rolling slowly.
“They have an amusement park here?” You asked.
“Yeah, they’re open every day,” Felix answered already finishing his ice cream, and went to bite the cone.
“Can we go? Tomorrow?” You asked again with pleading eyes which you know, Felix can’t resist.
“You know I’d yes to everything Y/n,” Felix chuckled as you gave him a goofy grin.
“I know,” You smiled. “So are you up for a movie night after dinner?”
“Babe, you know I’d love to,” He smirked as you smacked his arm playfully.
“Not your girlfriend by the way,” You roll your eyes, trying not to get flustered at the sudden pet name.
“We’ll get there anyway,” He muttered to himself which you didn’t get.
“Did you say something?” You asked, devouring the remains of your ice cream.
“I’m hungry!”
“You just ate ice cream!”
“No, I’m still hungry!”
The sizzling sound of food being cooked made you both even famished, the ice cream didn’t help as much and Felix was the one being the cook for the night. You stared at his back facing your direction as you wait by the counter. The smell was so good, enough to have your mouth water. He told you to stay back when both of you decided to take turns in cooking. But you ended up standing beside him as you watch him cook. His facial expression was serious enough to make it clear in your visions that Felix is one hell of a fucking handsome young lad. His black locks fall naturally to cover his forehead that the others reached his eye level. Perfect nose and luscious lips that you wanted to kiss, and most of all his freckles were like stars illuminated with sunshine.
Why didn’t I notice his beauty before? You thought. He turned to smile at you, aware of how you stared at his side. It made his heart go crazy in the process yet he tries to hide it away.
“Felix,” You called.
“Yeah?” He asked, serving the food on the counter.
“I know you cook so well, but wouldn’t be a waste if you wouldn’t share them with the love of your life?” You asked, taking a seat before he could feed you a spoon full of his delicious cooking.
“I already did,” He said having a smug expression before you could choke. Felix panicked at the sight and grabbed a glass of water. Your hands immediately took it out of his hand and drank, feeling the heat of your cheeks. “I thought you’d laugh,” He said rubbing his nape, feeling embarrassed as the other hand started to caress your back, “I’m sorry,”
“It’s okay,” You said, coughing in between. “I will choose you even if I had a boyfriend,”
“Isn’t that going to hurt?” Felix asked.
“You came to me first before everyone, aside from my parents of course,” You smiled. “Besides, even if I did get into a relationship, you’d be the first one to know everything,”
“Well, that would be great then,” He said before kissing your forehead. “Let’s eat now okay?”
That night became unusual on your behalf, a supposed to be a normal night spending it with your best friend, eating dinner with him as you ended up washing the dishes as we wash up for the movie night. It was how he wrapped his arm around your back while resting your head on his shoulder, cuddling on the couch while watching a movie. Sometimes his fingers ended up on your hair, playing with them before placing a soft kiss on the top of your head. You wanted to ask what’s going on, it keeps bothering your head. It didn’t even reach 24 hours yet but why are you feeling so different in this place?
The movie was almost done as you could feel your eyes getting heavy as well. Felix felt you were leaning closer to him as that’s when he realized you fell asleep. A small gentle smile appeared on his lips, stroking your hair as he lowered the volume of the film. Dragging the duvet to cover you, Felix hummed the tune of your favorite song and sang a few lines, enough to make it a lullaby. Placing another kiss on the top of your head, you smiled in your sleep feeling the coziness.
“Sleep tight, love,” He said. “I’ll see you in the morning,” He smiled, pulling the duvet for his body, resting his head above yours, and fell asleep. Meanwhile, you waited for him to be completely passed out before placing a soft kiss on the cheek.
“Love you,” You whispered.
Morning came in a split second as the rays of sunshine entered the living room, giving light and hints that it was already a new day. Felix was already awake as you were left on the couch, getting it all by yourself. Smelling the sweet scent of pancakes, you jolted out of it and went to the kitchen. You saw two empty plates being settled on the counter as Felix’s back was facing you again. The urge to give him a back hug will ruin the morning, you always wanted to hug him from behind, but not without a special reason. You never did it once anyway, and neither did he.
“That smells nice,” You said.
“That’s a good morning to you,” He answered, turning around, placing the pancakes on each plate before clicking your forehead.
“Oww,” You chuckled. “Good morning then,”
“Sure,” He shrugged. “Now eat so we could go to the amusement park,” He smiled as you kissed his cheek and devoured your food.
You wore your best outfit that will match the amusement park theme, Felix thought you were pretty. A dress that delivers your visuals and sense of fashion. He blushed at the thought of you wearing matching headbands with him which you did the moment you both entered. The stall where they sell cute clothes and other accessories caught your attention first as you dragged your best friend along. Even, he loved the idea of wearing them.
“You’re so cute,” You giggled taking out your phone to take a few pictures with different poses. “Cat ears suit you,” You added making him flustered.
“Oh come on,” He laughed.
“What? It’s cute,” You teased as he covered his face.
“Cute cute Lixie,” You cooed before taking a picture of him being embarrassed. “I’ll show this to your mom when we get home,”
“Hey!” He whines, sticking out your tongue at him.
“Let’s go,” You said ignoring his tantrums, holding his hand, intertwining your fingers.
Although it gave Felix a sense of electricity, he was going to keep that heartfelt moment by himself, tightening his grip on your hand. You smiled at him as the blood rushes to his cheeks, making him flustered even more. It has been a while since the last time you went to an amusement park, high school wasn’t hectic as college, and at that time, he wasn’t alone with you. Felix was dragged with Hyunjin and Jeongin as you were with Seungmin and Jisung. He wanted to try to go on a date with you, and this would be the perfect timing.
The first ones were the bumper cars where he managed to beat you when he knows he’s a better driver than you are. He had to brag about it as you kept rolling your eyes playfully after losing. You were both laughing each time your cars collided, one that produces sincere enjoyment. A beautiful moment where Felix loves the sight of you being happy. Or that moment when you decided to bring him to the merry-go-round, sitting on the two horses going up and down side by side. You were like two kids enjoying the park, wanting to play all day. Felix wouldn’t mind spending it with you, but only you.
“Do you want to go to the Horror House?” He asked after the merry-go-round.
“Are you sure you can handle it?” You smirked.
“They’re just people wearing costumes, it can’t be that bad,” He said full of confidence when ended up being the one who screams the loudest between you two. You’re not really a fan of entering horror houses like this, but you always wanted to try and scream on jumpscares. But your best friend is the one screaming at the top of his lungs while having his arms locked with yours. You would just laugh at his misery yet he looks so cute. “I’m not going back in there.”
“Says the one who wanted to go,” You said pretending to cough.
“Hey, I was just practicing screaming,” He defended.
“Whatever floats on your boat, Felix,” You answered, rolling your eyes playfully.
“Pfft, I hate you,” He said with a pout being formed on his lips.
“I love you too,” You laughed. “Where’s next?”
“Ferris wheel or the photo booth?” He asked, pointing in each direction to where they were located.
“Ferris wheel then we’ll go for the photobooth after, and let’s get ice cream before we go home!” You said hugging his arm excitedly as he chuckled at your cuteness.
“Sure hun, but let’s try with claw machines later, you forgot? They’re your favorite,” He said.
“Oh, yeah, how could I? Let’s go?” You asked but before he could give some answer, you immediately dragged him towards the line for the Ferris wheel ride.
Felix took out his phone the moment you reached the top, watching the sea view from the windows. You were too indulged that you didn’t notice he’s been taking candid pictures of you. He learned a lot from Seungmin and Hyunjin’s photography skills, each of them filled with warm smiles and amusement. Sincere admirations of how beautiful the place was. It felt like it was the first he brought you to the penthouse where all he could see was you being the most endearing person who loves to see and appreciate their surroundings.
He couldn’t take it anymore, falling in love with you is one of the hardest decisions he ever made. Too afraid to tell anyone, too scared for you to find out, and too risky for your friendship. He always treasures it as if it’s way more important that a billion-dollar piece of jewelry. Every beat of his heart is starting to feel different, the oftenness of blood rushing on his cheeks, being flustered every time you kiss his cheek, he even felt the one you did last night. He’s confused about why you did it, was it meant to be just friends or the other way? The urge to kiss you inside the cabin as you sat down beside him, holding his hand came to wrap his system. But he couldn’t, you might not like it.
“It’s way too beautiful in here, the view is so breathta一” But you were immediately cut off when you felt his lips crash onto yours. Your eyes went wide at the sudden collision, a moment of spark and electricity, something foreign and unexpected. It would be illegal to kiss your best friend without feelings but ever since the time you started appreciating more than one is making sense. It wasn’t that time when you arrived for a vacation, but every intimate moment feels like it is something more.
Being flustered as you are, his lips tasted like cherries, the flavor of his lip balm. They were soft and warm, so delicate and gentle for a kiss. His eyes were closed, feeling the intimate moment but his fantasy ended like a blink of an eye when you pulled away, covering your mouth, eyes wide open and extremely flustered about what happened. Felix realized what he did, a hint of guilt surfaced all over his face as he hid behind his palms.
“Oh, shit,” He hissed under his breath, getting out of the cabin as soon as the ride was done. “Y/n! Wait!” He called and ran after you.
You didn’t know why your feet dragged you out of the park, taking the street to the penthouse, thinking about what just happened. It was embarrassing and so sudden, but you couldn’t deny that the feeling was euphoric to the fact that you like it. Why are you running? Because of Felix, you didn’t know how to respond, nor reciprocate the kiss. It was too sweet and innocent. Something that will drive you crazy and is already driving you crazy. Heat can be felt in both cheeks and ears, and it’s just 10 in the morning.
Taking a few foods in the fridge enough to cater you until the evening had you contemplated locking yourself inside your shared room. Felix arrived a few minutes after you did and didn’t able to catch a glimpse of your flustered face. He cursed under his breath, regretting the gesture he made. But floating in the same boat as you, he liked the kiss, he loved it so much. Yet, it has begun to be awkward living alone with you in that penthouse. He sat on the couch, taking a deep sigh as he ran his fingers through his black locks, worried about you. Taking his phone, Felix apologized and asked if you were okay, it took a while before you read it.
There were no hard feelings toward Felix, he’s your best friend after all. You just didn’t know what to do as you were walking back and forth trying to calm yourself down, worried about his reaction to why you did that. You can blame him for kissing you, but you can blame yourself for acting stupid when it’s mutual. A deep sigh escaped your lips as you peeked through the door, watching your best friend spacing out as he waited for you. Yet, you didn’t dare to do so, not, until the night fell.
Felix ate lunch alone, he texted you again to come down so he could cook dinner but no reply from you. Hence, he found himself sitting outside by the shore, watching the small waves crash on his feet. It was a little bit dark, a lamppost, and the lights from the penthouse were the only ones giving the place brightness. Felix hugged his knees, having deep thoughts. He couldn’t get it out of his mind, mostly, you. There was never a time when Felix had to pretend to be something he is not, he truly loves you dearly. He likes you the first time you smile at him and he loves you the first time you become his friend, his feelings grow every time you’re being sweet or just seeing you being you. The person he always loves to spend his life with. Each smile meant happiness, each hug meant reassurance and each kiss on the cheek meant affection. He can’t find it from someone else, just you.
Each tick of the clock had you contemplating what to do, Felix was out there in the cold. You couldn’t bear being a coward anymore. Taking his jacket from his bag, you rushed outside to see him yet you were hesitating to come closer. Another deep sigh escaped your lips as your feet started to drag you towards him, slowly spreading his jacket to wrap it around his back making him flinch on his spot. He immediately looked up and see you, giving him this small, embarrassing smile with a hint of guilt in it.
“Thanks,” He said quietly as you sat down beside him.
“I’m sorry about what happened,” You said, hugging your knees. “I was just surprised, what I did was so embarrassing and out of my mind.”
“That’s nothing to be sorry about, I was the one who did it first, I’m sorry,” He said when you held his hand, it was nothing before, but now it’s already feeling the warmth and ease.
“I’m sorry,” You said, trying to reassure but Felix just hung his head low.
“Y/n, it’s fine, alright? You did nothing wrong, it’s normal to react like that when you didn’t know that I like you,” Felix snapped as you sighed loudly.
“Yes, I know it’s normal,” You said. “But hear me out first why I did it,” Felix fell into silence as you licked your lower lip, biting it from being nervous. “Okay, I was stunned, I ran away not because I didn’t like it, it’s because I fucking feel the same way too. I just didn’t know how to handle the situation Felix, I love you,”
Felix had his eyes fell in your direction as he stared at you for a while, but he stood up so suddenly and was about to go back inside when you followed him, grabbing his wrist, pulling him for a kiss. He didn’t hesitate to rest his hand on your cheek while the other one wrapped around your waist pulling you closer to his body. Unlike the way he kissed you in the cabin, the current one felt desperate and longing for something like this to happen. It was an intimate kiss, one that doesn’t feel like you’re just friends, he wanted to be something more for you. Somebody who’s not a friend anymore.
Yet again it was warm and delicate, his cherry-flavored lip balm was still present, you knew he applies it a few times. He bit your upper lip, gently sucking it before kissing you again. You shared heavy breaths as you both deepened the kiss, arms around each other, it tasted good. The ticklish sensation of him smiling between made you end it with a prolonged kiss, as your foreheads rest against each other.
“I love you too, Y/n,” He said quietly, hugging you as you smiled. You buried your face in the crook of his neck as you stayed in each other’s arms for a while.
“Do you want dinner? I’ll cook,” You said as he gave you a nod, suddenly carrying you in bridal style on the way back inside. “Hey!” You laughed.
“My lovely Y/n will cook dinner for me anyway,” He chuckled as he put you down in front of the built-in stove, hugging you from behind.
“How am I supposed to do this when you’re like that?” You said as he gave a quick kiss on your temple.
“I’ll behave, I’ll behave,” He laughed as he continued to cuddle you while cooking. “Should we go back to the amusement park tomorrow to continue our date?”
“I would love to,” You said, craning your neck before placing a soft kiss on his cheek.

Another day at the amusement park where you resumed taking the claw machines and photo booth. You wore the matching headbands you bought yesterday as you decided to stroll around, ignoring the rides you’ve been through, Felix dragged you to the claw machines. The machine had lots of different plushies, other contained new phones and a bunch of tickets in exchange for other goods. You wanted a penguin plush, enough to fill your collection in your apartment, you went in first as Felix started to massage your shoulders for support.
“You can do this, baby,” He said before you could insert some coins and went to press the button, taking the clutch. You tried to be careful as possible, pointing the claw towards the penguin push and finally pressing the button to get it. But you know this machine is cheating, the metal was too slippery to take one. A pout surfaced on your lips, failing at the task. Felix gave you a small peck and went to proceed for the sake of your wants.
“You’re so sweet,” You chuckled as he inserted the coins.
“Only to you,” He said giving you a smug smile, earning the penguin plush and dropping it on the box. “Easy,” He bragged, taking it away and giving it to you.
“Awe, thank you so much!” You squealed at the cuteness both him and the plush possessed. Earning a kiss on the cheek from you, Felix got flustered again.
“You’re making me blush,” He squeaked as you laughed at him.
“Aren’t I always?” You smirked as he stole a quick, giving you a smug look after.  “I hate you!” You said playfully.
“I love you too,” He laughed. “Which one’s next?”
“Photo booth or Ice cream?”
“Photo booth!” He squealed as he dragged you with him making you laugh.
You both sit together inside, trying different filters and picture designs. There were also customized doodles you could use. Felix let you decide, it was the doodles for you. You drew cat ears for him while dog ears were for you. All pictures were produced as four cuts and both of you didn’t waste the opportunity to get as much as you like. You tried different poses, hugging in the first picture, being cuddly in the second one, both your eyes closed while doing a flower pose in the third one, and kissing one’s cheek in the fourth one. The other four cuts had different concepts, but everything was so cute which came to be Felix’s type.
You spend a little while inside the booth unknown with the crowd of people waiting outside for their turn. It was careless at first but you enjoyed your time inside. A summer vacation that turned into a romantic date didn’t come out to be so bad, when in fact, you were happy that it was your best friend. You went out a few minutes after the last 4-cut was dismissed, Felix had to take it out as you went away for ice cream.
“Wow, those are cute,” You said as Felix showed them to you.
“Yeah, I like this one the most,” He said giving you the very first 4-cut you took.
“Me too, it looks fresh, and the kiss on the cheek gave the highlight,”
“You think so?” He asked.
“Yeah, look at you being flustered,” You said pointing it out to tease him when he just laughed it out.
“There you are again, always making me blush,” He whines playfully when you smacked his arm lightly.
“And there you are again, being cute that makes my heart melt,” You said as he went to peck your lips. “Stop, you’re driving me crazy!” You laughed.
“Likewise babe,” He winked as he ran towards the ice cream stall leaving you dumbfounded. But shaking your head at the thought, a big smile formed on your face before you followed him. “Do you want chocolate or strawberry?”
“Strawberry for me!”
“One chocolate and strawberry please~”
Taking a bench to sit after a tiring stroll, both you and Felix devoured your ice cream watching the people come and go. Couples are taking pictures, children enjoying kid-friendly rides as their parents watch them, and vendors from each stall had plenty of customers, it was a bright day at the amusement park. You were happy Felix took you there to see everything and perhaps enjoy a few days of summer.
“We’re going home tomorrow right?” You asked.
“Yeah,” Felix sighs as he noticed the excess cream at the edge of your lips. “You want to stay longer?”
“Can we? I mean, we still have like a few weeks before the new semester right?” You asked again as he smiled, taking your cheeks in his hands before placing a soft kiss at the corner of your lips, before feeling his tongue licking the cream.
“We can stay for a while,” He smirked pulling away making your heart go crazy.
“I swear Felix, I’m going to scream,” You laughed as he did it again. “You’re such a tease,”
“I know right, can I have your hand please?” He asked as you titled your head, wondering why. Felix offered his hand as you placed yours on his palm. He suddenly took out a ring made out of napkins from the ice cream stall and slid it on your finger. “Remember the song Paper Rings from our road trip a few days ago? You’re the one that I want and I’d like to marry you even with paper rings,”
“And I hate accidents except when we went from friends to this?” You chuckled, admiring the braided napkins wrapping on your ring finger. “Felix, you never fail to make me smile, you’re so sweet. Oh my gosh, I love you so much,” You added, hugging him tightly.
“Anything for you, baby,” He smiled, hugging you back. “And I swear, I love you the most,”
“Ah, Felix,” You called.
“Yes?” He asked, not pulling away from the hug.
“I hope your mom wouldn’t mind if we pull our beds next to each other? A single bed won’t fit us both so I一”
“You want to sleep next to me?” He asked, looking at you as he pulls away.
“Yeah, I wanted to hug you when I sleep, just like the movie night,” You said, blushing at your statement which made Felix chuckle in response before placing a peck on your lips.
“She wouldn’t mind, and I would love to!”

“lixie, stay still,” you giggle, body nestled between felix’s legs. He's leaning against the bathroom counter, hands propped on the sleek ebony marble as you apply a shimmering lip gloss to his lips.
“but don't you wanna know what changbin said to me?”
“of course i wanna know what creative pickup line he used on you today. of course i do, baby,” you smile and he rolls his eyes at the sarcasm dripping from your tone, his tongue poking against his cheek before gliding in (fake) annoyance over his lips.
“but…” he muses, tilting his head to the side, his hands finding your waist once again (they've been away for two minutes too long).
“but when your mouth moves i can't technically apply lipgloss to it.”
“maybe you're just a bad make-up artist,” he teases, before quickly planting a kiss on your temple. “kidding baby. you're the very best at everything you do.”
“you're actually incapable of being mean,” you laugh heartily, your thumb swiping across his chiseled jaw.
“i am very much capable of being mean,” he pouts, his eyes widening slightly, golden light spilling into his pupils— it refracts into an arrow delving straight into your heart.
“you can't say this in the softest voice and expect me to agree.”
“i am very much capable of being mean,” he repeats, only this time his timber is many many octaves lower. his voice reverberates straight through your stomach, a deep melody orchestrating the untamed butterflies in your stomach.
“this is the equivalent of a kitten throwing a punch to me,” you pull his face closer, and he shakes his head, mouth shut tightly as you reapply the glitter infused gloss on his lips, going delicately over his cupid's bow. his eyes are boring onto you, yet you don't shy away from his gaze. it is a kind one— like a blanket knitted with love thrown over your body.
“done,” you whisper, hands trailing up to his hair, blonde silky locks akin to threads of sunlight. you think he must be favored by the stars— how they stored the sun inside every component of his being for him to keep safe.
“you have the prettiest lips,” your voice is suddenly hoarse, thumb grazing slightly over his lips, ones shaped like a heart— akin to the one freckle he has right underneath his eye.
it wasn't enough for him to have the kindest soul, no, love needed to be etched onto his skin too.
“felix,” you rasp out his name.
he catches your tears before you sense them falling, swiping his thumbs delicately on your cheek. “angel?”
“you're an idiot.”
“am i?” he brings you to his chest swiftly, your nose buried in the orange blossoms and sea notes of his skin— your home, the one you'd recognize in blindness, in despair, in safety, in love.
“i wanted to apply this lipgloss on you because shimmer would suit your angelic lips and then we'd make out. but you just had to be so beautiful and pure that it makes me wanna cry.”
“I'm sorry,” he says and you giggle, more tears spilling from your eyes.
“see, this is what i mean. why are you apologizing. this is so silly and you're so perfect and i can't believe you love me.”
“well i do,” he leans away, kissing your forehead tenderly. the sticky lip gloss lingers on your skin. “i love you so much, angel. i will only ever love you.”
“promise me?” you ask in a feat of vulnerability almost foreign to your being.
“i promise.”
you believe him.
“thank you. please don't put this lipgloss near anyone else or it'll make them cry too.”
“i think that's just you baby,” he grins, his thumb swiping over your thigh comfortingly, then, his nose brushing against your own. “kiss?”
you close your eyes, a sigh of relief, of longing escaping your body. “please.”
to be loved by felix— maybe you're the one favored by the stars after all.
