Market to the Market!

Hello again! Hope you're all having a great weekend! This week has been amazing and productive for my shop, and I can’t wait to share the progress with you all. Last week, I discussed the production and manufacturing process of creating a product. Today, I will be discussing some marketing tactics I use to create excitement and interest for a new product. It is important to obtain an audience and gauge interest in the product, so individuals can properly estimate an inventory amount needed to be ordered.

One of the main marketing strategies I use is Instagram. My main source of an audience is through my shop Instagram, since it’s where most of my customers follow for updates on my business. Through my instagram, I like to prepare “teasers” on the shop’s instagram stories to catch my customers’ eyes. From there, I post a “design drop” on the main account. The most important part to this is a businesses’ network. As I grew by shop, I built a solid network of small business friends that help support my shop. Both customers and small business friends are able to repost the design on their Instagrams, getting the design to a broader and newer audience. I also like to use hashtags that correlate to the design. For example, since it is a Stray Kids themed item, I will use various popular Stray Kids themed hashtags to help my design reach the right audience.

Another marketing tactic I use to gain interest in a new product is Twitter. The K-Pop Stan culture is big on Twitter, and it’s a strong platform to gain a following from fans. Similar to twitter, I will share the design and have various individuals repost it to their feeds. This is where shops can gauge interest from customers. A lot of the times, many fans will start discussions and share the product if they’re really interested in it. With twitter, individuals seem to be more open to sharing their opinions. This is an opportunity for business owners to see what customers like and don't like about a new product. From there, they can adjust and better cater to their aimed audience.

Through these strategies, shops can begin to build interest in a product and get individuals excited for the launch!

If there is one thing about me it is that I am a merch girly. I go to an event and I am immediately in a merch line with no less than $100 at the ready. 90% of my wardrobe is shirts and hoodies with logos of my special interests slapped all over them. My room is covered in posters and little figures and trinkets arranged in shrines to the things I love. I am nothing if not a walking talking advertisement for niche obscure media please ask me about the band on my shirt I have so much to say !
