#TBT ... @Regranned from @strother_pt - TBT Part 1 I've been apart of the @afropunk community since its inception in the early 2000's when it was just a small congregation of "alternative" people of color that wanted to share their rock and roll roots. To watch it grow into the global phenomenon it has become was so inspiring! It showed me that you can follow your dreams and make a real impact on people's lives without compromising. (I've never shared this footage!!) So back 2016 , @kahl1one, @anthonybgeathers and myself teamed up with @afropunk to spread the word about health, fitness, and what action we can take to control of our lives. We talked alot about the tools necessary to achieve these goals but what really impressed me were these individual's perspective on the MENTAL shift we need to really make a difference in our lifestyle. When our friends, family and coworkers confide in us with their problems we tend to freeze up. The weight and responsibility of someone else’s feelings is a daunting task for anyone. Especially when you’re dealing with your own stuff. To take some of the weight off and avoid saying the wrong thing, ask yourself “How can I be of service right now to this person with the energy I currently have?” If the person seems upbeat they probably are open to advice. Ask them if they would like to hear your perspective. If they seem low and internal perhaps they just need to get some off their chest.
