When they break up, Pepper makes Tony promise her that she'll get to give the final stamp of approval for his future partner(s). He is obviously confused, but it's Pepper, so he agrees.

Over the span of three months, she rejects a total of fifteen people—including Darcy. And for some reason, every time she does that she'd throw a look at any or both Brooklyn super soldiers.

Steve and Bucky are terrified of what that means.

It all comes to head after a month.

Tony's birthday roles out and they're all faintly buzzed in front of the TV. It's there she lets it slip that after the Mandarin fiasco, her body temperature ran a lot hotter than average humans. And since Tony is a giant cuddle-bug, she's looking just the right sort of partner for him.

Steve and Bucky don't miss the look she sends their way.

The next day, they tell her their body temperature and finally get her seal of approval.

thinking about stuckony, but what if you include the au where bucky is cap and steve became the winter soldier? do you think it changes much? if so, i'd love to hear your thoughts.

Oooo that’s such a good question!! I think it changes a lot to be honest because Bucky is very different from Steve and I think that would affect how he and Tony work together in the avengers, but also how their romantic relationship would be.

I think that had Bucky been Cap, a lot of his “original” personality would shine through because he didn’t endure 80+ years of trauma. I think we would see a Bucky that’s confident and suave, but also nerding out over Tony’s inventions and enjoying the LOTR movies with the team.

I think that he and Tony would have a really great rapport and a comfortable relationship, and that they would be great working together on the Avengers. Bucky was a sergeant so he lead his own team of soldiers, but he was also a sniper so he knows that sometimes you need a man unseen to help pull off a mission.

To me Bucky is less hot headed than Steve, and that would make for a better working relationship with Tony, which I think in turn would allow them to develop a friendship, and ultimately a romantic one as well.

When Steve as the WS comes into the picture I think Bucky would be desperate to help his friend, but he would want Tony to help, and want him as a support system for his own grief and joy and trauma of getting Steve back.

I have a lot of thoughts about this, clearly lol, but for now that’s where I’m going to end this—though now you’ve put a very intriguing AU into my head and I’m turning it around like a rotisserie chicken 🤣🤣

Also Captain Wonderbread as a nickname makes me unreasonably happy. I just want to smoosh these three idiots together, but luckily they get there all on their own. Check this one out, you won't regret it!

Reasons why I love it: I came for the Stuckony and was blindsided by how much I loved the parts of the fic where Tony and Strange are bickering their way through space, with some great cameos from the Guardians. That being said, the Stuckony is fucking fantastic, and I hope you give this fic a try, because it's definitely one of my favorites.

Summary: Tony goes blonde for a few months. She isn’t nuts about it, but Steve and Bucky really seem to hate it, which is a good selling point. The press are convinced it's the beginning of a mental break. They might not be totally wrong.

Reasons why I love it: Toni's characterization here is top notch. I really love a femme fatale, but her soft spots are what really make this fic so great. The writing style of mystery author is also really cool, almost poetic in some parts of the fic. Getting these small, really poignant timestamps throughout the plot feels really refreshing, and the pacing is great. Definitely read this one if you like Toni being an irresistible temptation to the superserum duo.

Pairing: Steve/Bucky/Tony Rating: M Words: 3,837 Tags: A/B/O (Alpha Bucky and Steve, Omega Tony), Heat Cycles, Bad Guys Made Them Do It

Summary: When Steve goes into a rut while he and Tony are kidnapped by Hydra, Tony is convinced that what happens between them is going to ruin everything. He's wrong.

Reasons why I love it: I'm a sucker for all things sex pollen, x made them do it, fuck or die shenanigans, and if you are too, then this fic is right up your alley. Add to that the delicious moral dilemma of Tony trying to protect the sanctity of Steve's and Bucky's relationship along with a mutual guilt complex, and you've got an amazing fic right there. Plus, the writing style is fantastic, so that just elevates it to the next level. Definitely give this one a read!

Pairing: Steve/Bucky/Tony Rating: T Words: 13,617 Tags: Flowers, Soul Marks, Pining

Summary: “You’ve got war in your heart boy,” Howard sneers, “don’t ever try and pretend to be anything but what you are.” Tony feels the familiar burn of a flower mark being etched into his skin but he doesn’t look, doesn’t try and check to see what it is. Instead he keeps his eyes on Howard and his hands cupped around his bleeding mouth and nose.

Reasons why I love it: You've probably read this fic already, but Jesus Christ, go and read it again right now because it deserves all the love it can get. The whole concept is godtier, and the choices for which characters have which flower marks are so goddamn brilliant, I just – fucking hell, I love this fic so much. If you by some miracle haven't read this one yet, go and do it now! I promise, there is no better use of your time!

every darkness has its dawn — B5, "Sunrise". Post-cw winteriron with Bucky recovering, and love and queerness as a force of resistance. (I'm pretty proud of that one even though it hasn't got much attention)

In the Eyes of the Beholder — 6 chapters for: B3, "Corsetry", N5, "Lapdance", I3, "Socks", B2, "Temperature Play", I1, "Picture Frame", and G5, "Covered in Flour". The biggest fic for the bingo, work name for which was "horny gay club 90s au". Features mid-20s Tony, estranged from his parents, who has to work as a waiter in the shady club, and a mystery client James, slow falling in love, dealing with toxic parenting, schmoop and the sappiest ending.

my love for you runs deeper than memories — I5, "Anniversary". A sequel to The Acts of Kindness (also known as the food fic, or the plot twist one, or the one I was the most proud of). Winteriron are married, Bucky has memory problems, but they are super happy anyway. Melancholic at times, but sweet.

funny things are — N3, FREE. Another work from the I'm most proud of list. A suicide romcom. The worst jokes, but not as horrible as that love confession. cw-canon divergent, Tony had depression all his life, Bucky has his own issues, they bond over wanting to kill themselves.

it's a lie or death — G1, "1940s". Bucky hates the war and lies a lot. Platonic stucky.

It’s All About Love — One fill one bingo! O1-O5, "Verbal Bondage", "Frenemies to Lovers", "Coulson Lives", "Roommates", "Dog Park". My 2012 Tower fic, stony. Steve has one friend, not that many interests, is annoyed at the people not letting him yell fuck transphobes, and has the hugest crush on Tony. It all goes well in the end (or: the one where Steve's a himbo, and they get a dog). I was grinning all the time I was writing it.

The Definition of Nice — I2, "Bicycle". Winteriron. Bucky keeps picking up strays and keeps insisting it doesn't make him a good person (it's all lies).

you are the star I gravitate to — G2, "AU: College". Winteriron. Tony is a popular genius who doesn't date and Bucky is a football player with low self-esteem (and a crush). Cute dorks and math (actual math, yeah).

The Subjectivity of Beauty — N1, "Insecurity". Post-endgame established winteriron. Tony has body issues. Bucky has a lingerie kink. It all works out in the end (because they love each other).

WIP Update - 26 Oct 2022

A decently productive writing week -  I touched 6 fics (1 WIPs & 5 new works) for a total of 2578 words.  

I’m catching up on getting stuff posted -   Over on Ao3,  @psychiccatpanda posted the epilogue to our Stucky --> Stuckony non-traditional A/B/O fic, and I posted a Rhodey POV scene retelling from IM3 as well as  a post-Endgame canon divergent fic where Bucky reconciles with Tony,  and a  WinterIron Old Dark House fluffy ficlet. On Tumblr I posted a  Stony domestic fic with bonus IronBros for last week’s @flashfictionfridayofficial prompt and a  Thor & Natasha mission/friendship fic to fill an @avengersbingo square as well as two October writing challenges. 

I’m still at 12 active WIPs  (with a couple of maybe TBCs)  with my current   deadlines being three October creative challenges:  @fictober-event,  @flufftober & @whumptober.  The @reforgedzine  deadline is also looming large.  :: bites nails::

Whumptober, Flufftober & Fictober [ Running thru 31 Oct]

I’m going to attempt to fill prompts from these three creative challenges - at least one per week of the month - preferably combining one prompt from each into a single fic.  

I’ve filled prompts for Day 1 (Fic, Whump & Fluff),  Day 7 (Fic and semi-Whump), Day 12 (Fic, Whump & Fluff), Day 18  (Fic and Fluff) and Day 25 (Fic and Fluff)  with Day 29 in progress.  I  may circle back and fill a few more belated prompts  at some point. 

Reforged - A WinterIron Zine [Deadline 12 Nov]

I got accepted to submit a  1k-3.5k fic for this project, and have submitted a basic idea &  belatedly completed the final checkin.    I am stressed and struggling, already up to 3404 words and still need to get the main plot wrapped up - I basically need to finish the damn thing and then ruthlessly edit to get down to the max word count…  

Avengers Bingo [AvB] (Runs thru 24 Dec)

Ten fills posted (7 to Ao3)  and 0 WIPs - I decided to further challenge myself on this 16-square card by pairing up each square with a unique combo of 2 original MCU Avengers, with the final square being PolyVengers. With the help of the STB Enthusiasts Discord folks - I’ve got all 16 squares  planned out, at least in terms of who to write about, and half of them have some sort of idea or crossover square to go along with them. Feel free to toss other plot  bunnies my way…

* C2 - Soft under Hard Exterior Trope -  posted Opening Up, Step by Step,  to Tumblr yesterday - it’s a Natasha & Thor kinda-sorta mission fic that also fills the @fictober-event prompt “You know I’d do anything.” and @flufftober First Dance prompts. 

* C3 - Reincarnation AU  -  filled this with  A Unexpected Reunion as a crossover with  last week’s @flashfictionfridayofficial prompt [#FFF172 A Ghost from the Past]  It will get posted to Ao3  before the bingo closes.

* D1 - Friends w/ Benefits  - Clint/Steve - crossover with MWAPB Hawkeye/Clint Barton and possibly SRB - Never Have I Ever

* D2 - Romeo & Juliet AU  -  basic idea:  Steve (jock) & Tony  (geek) trying out for title roles in R&J - despite their respective  FWB groups thinking it’s a terrible idea.  Title:  Two Polycules, Alike in Dignity

Current Last Line:  "My men will accompany you back to Brookline in the morning.”

Stony, could be made into Stukony if one wanted to

Steve and Tony are in an established relationship, and then Steve gets Bucky back and Steve worries about upsetting Tony because people have always, always gotten the wrong impression about him and Bucky, that he can't feel that strongly about someone and have it not be romantic. Tony doesn't seem to react at all, however, and even encourages Steve to spend time with his friend and doesn't act jealous at all but Steve worries Tony is just hiding his emotions as usual.

So Steve confronts Tony about it one day, wants to be clear about how both of them are so important to him but he's only 'in' love with Tony, but Tony stops him early on by simply saying:

"No I get it. He's your Rhodey."

And that shuts Steve up because wow, yeah, that explains it perfectly.

(if turns into Stuckony, some comment about how, “Okay, maybe not so much like Rhodey.”)

I can't art, and for ages I've wanted to see art of a grown up Morgan with both her parents. I imagine her looking just like Tony, maybe even with short hair and grease-stained clothes like him, and they're alive and happy and together.

Stony

Steve sees Tony with others, and always thinks, If I was your man, I’d treat you better than that. Clint/Bucky/Sam are driven crazy by it all till Steve catches Tony in the middle of the night getting a late night snack and looking upset. He’d just had a fight with this boy/girlfriend. Steve is upset that Tony has to go through this.

Tony doesn’t want to start anything with Steve because he loves their friendship and he breaks everything he touches and he couldn’t bear breaking Steve so refuses each time.

One night, Tony gets very drunk and Steve helps him get to bed safely and decides now to tell Tony just how much he loves him and how good they would be together, knowing that Tony won't remember in the morning.

Justin Hammer is *so much like* Howard, so maybe that’s a little bit why Tony hates him so much. Aside from being an odious human being, maybe there’s a psychological thing there because Tony didn’t like Howard, he had no reason to (he loved his dad, sure. But he didn’t like him). He sees his dad in Justin Hammer. And sees no reason to deal with that more than once in a lifetime.

In the AU, Tony had a mate with a pup on the way, but they died. Until Civil Wars happened, and he saw that they too were a victim of the WS besides his parents. Team IM/Team CA separate (no cryo) go their own way until Tony becomes too suicidal during one mission gone wrong. Team CA comes back, but Tony is just done with their backstabbing and lies (Team CA falls apart after learning what really went on in Siberia). Bucky, wrought with guilt and wanting to make up for his past murders of Stark’s parents and dead mate and pup, somehow through his jacked up mind, figures that the way to Tony’s good graces is… become Tony’s mate and having his pups. Summary: It's been over a decade since he lost Dyson, it feels like a century has passed since he lost his mother. All because of one man, no a monster. He doesn't want anything to do with Barnes, can't stand to look at him. And yet, when Steve comes calling when he begs him for forgiveness- for help. He can't help but answer that call.

They call him insane when he takes in Barnes, agrees to be the monster's guardian. But then the monster makes him an offer that's hard to resist. Desperate for a sense of family, for a sense of normalcy. Tony takes the offer, regardless of what the price may be. And surprisingly, finds what he's looking for along the way.

Bucky would hold him as he struggled to breathe – betrayed by his body.

Bucky had his back in fights – fists flying, fast and hard.

Bucky could make him smile, make him laugh.

When Bucky ‘died’ – whole unit captured, presumed dead – he refused to believe it. Found him, rescued him.

And when he asked for help, Bucky didn’t hesitate, following him across Europe as he hunted HYDRA.
