you hated lee heeseung.
throughout the three years you've known him, he's been always the bane of your existence. the boy was constantly bugging you and pulling a new stunt to show off and get your attention. all of this just to ask you out on a date - something he's been doing practically every week since the age of fourteen.
seriously, after a hundred 'no's you'd think he'd learn to back off. and yet, he was still persistent in pursuing you.
at least, until your final year began.
see, you two had been competing against each other for the position of student council president at the end of last year. unfortunately for you, he was immensely popular; an actual threat. on top of being the captain for boys' volleyball team, he was class rep. and actively helped out teachers after school. students and teachers alike were drawn in by his hardworking yet casual nature and how easily he talked to others. despite the busy campaigns and rivalry, he still managed to somehow find time to ask you out, ending his final speech with, "and aren't all these qualities worthy of at least one date?"
of course he'd still find a way to make such an important event about asking you out. whoops and cheers echoed the hall, with almost everyone looking at you. everyone knew your history, with half the school on his side, cheering him on and urging you to say yes.
thankfully, the other half of the student body understood that no means no, and were more sympathetic towards you. after all, it's not like you were disliked or anything - you were as well known as h*es*ung.
you yourself had led the school to win several math competitions over the years, and tutored over ten students in your highschool career (get that money girl!). in addition, you were already on the council as the treasurer.
yet, it was his last sentence that one the people over and he'd been chosen as the president, with you as vice.
"just say yes. one date won't hurt," ningning had chuckled when you complained again, once she'd come back from her summer camp.
"my pride and reputation of always saying no will be."
"maybe he'll back off if you do?"
"no number of rejections has stopped him, how would a 'yes' do that?"
"maybe he'll realise you're absolutely undateable," she laughed at you, which had you throwing a pillow at her in retaliation.
you scowled at her before pulling out your phone and finding heeseung's instagram.
"thanks for meeting with us today, i'm sure you guys are excited to go home. first days are always tough." and with that, heeseung closed up the first meeting of the year.
conversation and the screeching of chairs filled the room as everyone began to pack up and leave, bidding goodbye to each other. as president and vice president, you and heeseung were left behind to clean up after the others and sort out other documents and such.
you half-heartedly expected another question of a date from him as you threw away the paper cups and teabags, but it never came.
instead, all he said was, "good job today."
you turned to look at him, with his bag slung over one shoulder and a hand stuffed into his pocket. he gave you a tight smile and left the room after that, reminding you to lock up before you left.
a little disconcerted, you continued the last few tasks while mumbling to yourself, "that ass, making me clean up and not..." you didn't finish that thought. it almost sounded like you wanted him to ask you out on another date. you thought he would though - he always did, but the first day of school passed without incident.
well, it's only the first day. he'll definitely ask you out tomorrow, or later this week. he's never missed a chance to do so during first week of school.
he hasn't asked you out at all. not in the first week, nor the second, or the third.
a whole month had gone by, and all you'd heard from heeseung was student council-related stuff. he hadn't even talked to you outside of meetings.
"did you two fight, or something?" ningning asked you curiously.
"i dunno?" you reply truthfully. you really weren't sure if what was going on between you was a fight or just a change in dynamics. it was confusing.
the rest of the school noticed too; the halls whispered when you passed by, wary and concerned looks thrown your way. someone even asked off handedly in conversation: 'are you two secretly dating, then?' everyone was walking on eggshells around you two.
"well, i guess you can rest now."
"huh?"
"you said you wanted him to stop, didn't you?" ningning raised an eyebrow at you. "who knows how many times you've complained about it to me in the past. it's made up like, half of our conversations in all our years of friendship."
"oh, right."
ningning tilted her head curiously at you. "what's with the disappointed tone?"
"what tone?" you rolled your eyes. "this is perfect! i can finally concentrate on my work without having to be afraid that i'll be distracted by heeseung trying to get me to date him again." after a moment, ningning hummed in agreement.
"and! those girls can stop giving me death glares. i mean - i've already seen so many triumphant looks from them, as if they've already got him in the bag."
"uh-huh," she said sceptically.
"they'd definitely say yes if he asked them out. unlike me. he can actually go and date for once, instead of embarrassing himself with me."
"riiiight."
"good. that's good! maybe he'll have a girlfriend by next week. and-"
"okay! i get it, i get it," ningning burst out laughing. "i've never seen you overthink about heeseung this much."
"i can't help it! what would you think if some guy who's been obnoxiously pining over you for years consistently suddenly stopped out of nowhere?"
"hmm... i'd hang out with him, break my leg, therefore obliging him to bring me to the hospital, manipulate him to visit me every day as i recover, be overbearing as hell so that he'd realise he doesn't want me anymore, and poof! he's gone."
you stared at your (possibly insane) best friend (how is she your best friend?!) in alarm.
"...i think it's time for another visit to the psych ward."
"hey!"
you two laughed yourself to stitches. she might be crazy, but she definitely got your mind off heeseung, if only for a little bit.
"you guys don't like sports, do you?"
everyone in the council shook their head.
"well, luckily for you, the student council members aren't be required to participate in sports day. we're only expected to volunteer and help the teachers."
you and the others cheered, relieved you wouldn't have to run yourself to death in the cold wind like last year. you might have been gifted in almost any skill and hobby you picked up, but sports was an exception.
"make sure you do help out, as i'll be taking note of who does what." then, heeseung said in a whisper, as if sharing a secret (who in this room he's hiding it from, you don't know), "and we'll hold a little party here. just us members." that definitely got everyone murmuring excitedly.
in the two previous years you've been in the student council, you've never seen one so lively and reactive to their president. you hate to admit it, but you too could feel your mood lighten up with them whenever heeseung was leading another meeting.
not to mention, he listened intently to the others' concerns, always suggested good solutions, and greeted everyone who entered with a cup of tea. he was a lot more considerate than you'd expected.
see, you hadn't really shared that many classes before. and the one or two you ever did, you avoided him at all costs so you never actually noticed him properly until it was forced right in front of your face.
"on another note, we'd like to take in suggestions for places to visit for an upcoming school trip," you started, garnering their attention.
as you began your part of the meeting, you could feel heeseung's intense stare, but every time you looked at him, he'd turn away.
it was a little frustrating, and you didn't know why. you couldn't figure out why you felt a little more upset every time he'd look somewhere else. was he ignoring you? but, this was a totally normal thing to do, right? so it's not like you could just ask him 'hey, why do you always ignore me when i look at you?', you'd look stupid.
when the meeting ended and everyone else had left, the awkward tension between you two was so thick you could cut it with a knife.
"make sure to lock up before you go-"
"did i do something wrong?"
heeseung stared at you, mouth frozen from being cut off mid-sentence.
"what? no. why?"
"i just- well, you-" you stuttered, unsure how to answer. "i guess, i'm not used to you not..."
"to me not asking you to be my girlfriend?" he laughed, but there was an odd lack of humour.
you shrunk into yourself. you should have just kept your mouth shut, now you sounded self-centered.
"nevermind," you huffed.
"i'm just doing what you asked. after the date, remember?" he left before you could say anything else.
after he'd gone, you couldn't even hear the silence he left behind - not when your thoughts rang in your ears. shame, embarrassment, rage. you hated him, heeseung.
but most of all, you hated yourself.
you avoided heeseung at all costs after that incident, at least, whenever you could.
previously, with the lack of interactions you two had, you felt like you barely ever saw him. but now that there was this weird air of tension between you, seeing him at three times a week after school for student council activities suddenly felt too often. every time you were alone with him, you were sure you were as red as a tomato; you developed a habit of letting your hair hide your red ears and hide your face.
when sports day inevitably came, you took over his responsibilities, seeing as he was still a part of the volleyball team. that made him the only one in the student council to join any sports activity, whereas the rest of you relaxed. (the privilege was all thanks to heeseung, who advocated for your guys' exemption from activities after everyone had complained, in return for volunteer work.)
"you haven't gone to the volleyball games yet?" soobin, the treasurer, asked.
"no. i planned out a route to visit all the activities, and the courts happened to be last."
he raised a sceptical eyebrow at you.
"really. it's not because you're trying to steer clear of our dear president or something?"
you cringed. "keep your nose out of our business."
"well, if it's affecting student council activities, isn't it our business too?"
"maybe, but i think your priority should be helping out mrs. shin over there," you pointed to the teacher walking across the field, carrying a bunch of equipment by herself. "'looks pretty heavy, it would look bad if our volunteer wasn't doing his work, now would it?"
soobin gave you a dirty look before leaving to help out, but not before bidding you "good luck!"
when you finally made it to the volleyball courts, you spotted him immediately.
he'd done a spike, the slap echoing so loud that it drew the attention of other students passing by. paired with the sound of feet skidding against the ground and the thumps of balls making contact with skin, you decided that you hated the courts. it felt like walking into a battle zone - always fearing you'll get hit by a ball when you're not looking. once, ningning got hit in the face by a baseball and her eye had actually been pushed inwards into her socket. of course, that wasn't on a court, but you weren't taking your chances.
unfortunately, you still had to make sure everything was going smoothly and take note of how many more rounds were left.
"excuse me! students who aren't playing aren't allowed to step into the courts," the teacher yelled at you from the other side.
"sorry, but i have to check on you guys, i'm part of the student council," you explained as you crept closer.
"but-"
"my bad, mr. jeon. i forgot to tell you to expect our vice president to come around eventually, since she's taking over my duties for the day," heeseung said as came jogging up to you two.
"ah, really? was volleyball taking up your time? you should have told me! i wouldn't want this to get in the way of your work."
"no, it's okay. i wanted to play, and she's very reliable," he gestured to you.
"if you say so."
"right," you started, finally looking at heeseung for the first time that day. you nodded your thanks to him, to which he gave a quick thumbs up to before rejoining the game.
"how many sets are left?" you asked mr. jeon, pulling out your pen to note down on your clipboard.
"two. this is our final game of the day."
"great! who won for the girl's team earlier today? i'm sorry i couldn't come earlier. i thought it might be best to come later in the day so i could get all the results at once."
"don't worry about it. the boys' games are always more interesting anyway - in the sense that it's a little more dramatic, what with all the force they put in their hits."
right at that moment, the resounding boom of the ball hitting a wall interrupted you two. geez, were these guys playing with a ball or setting off canons? why men are so aggressive, you'll never understand.
"perfect timing," mr. jeon chuckled. "well anyway, the U-16 girls won the first game, but the U-19 team won the second-"
you should have minded the ongoing game. it was the number one rule when you were on a court, but you foolishly got distracted with mr. jeon's own clipboard. of course, the moment you let your guard down, the ball flew your way, right when you were shifting your stance and was therefore a little more unstable than usual.
the volleyball hit you right in the chest, and had you falling to the ground. by instinct, you tried to catch yourself - but instead of your palms reaching out backwards to save you, it was your elbows that hit the ground.
"fuck!" you cried at the pain that seared through your arm.
"oh my god, are you alright?" the team suddenly ran up to you, with mr. jeon himself trying to help you up.
"i'm so sorry! i didn't mean to." one of the team members apologised.
"watch it next time," heeseung's stern voice came, but you were more focused on trying to minimise the pain as much as possible.
"where does it hurt? your elbow? can you try moving it for me?"
you did as mr. jeon instructed, but underestimated how much it would hurt.
"oh, that popping sound does not sound normal," heeseung commented.
"heeseung, take her to the infirmary."
he nodded and grabbed your unaffected elbow, asking if it was okay. you nodded and followed him as he started leading the way to the school nurse.
"does it still hurt?"
"if i move it, yeah."
"sorry about that."
"it's fine. it happens." a quick silence followed.
"well, you should go to the doctor later. the nurse probably won't do much, maybe just hand you an ice pack or something else useless," he joked. you laughed.
"yeah. she never really does much, does she? all those years of school just to hand us ice packs for a broken bone or twisted ankle."
"right! even the PE department is better equipped for more serious injuries."
"mhm."
another bout of silence. you were going to go crazy, either from the awkwardness of it all or the immense pain in your right arm. you looked at heeseung's back, and the sweat on his skin, soaking his shirt.
"hey, you can go back if you want to," you told him suddenly. "i can walk myself to the infirmary, it's not like i hurt my leg or anything."
"i know, but i'd feel more at ease if i saw you there myself. you're my vice president, of course i'm concerned."
well, you didn't know how to feel about that. you've been downgraded from his crush to coworker, but he still cares for you. so maybe that was a plus?
"i see."
as expected, you were given a cold pack for your elbow and sent to the local hospital. luckily, it was only a ten minute drive and the nurse accompanied you as a staff member drove you two there. heeseung watched you get in the car and leave, going back to his game.
the next time you went to school (two days later), your right arm was in a sling and you pretended like that wasn’t just the most embarrassing moment of your life.
“you’re ambidextrous?” heeseung whispered to you while everyone else was focused on the movie projected.
the council had waited for you to return before they held their (secret) party, since it just felt wrong to hold one when their vice president was suffering in pain and away. up until now, heeseung had only known you used your right hand from all those meetings.
he'd been paying attention to that?
“i’m a better writer with my right.”
“but you can still write well with your left,” he said, impressed. “you really are amazing”
you stared at him, the look of awe on his face, and the slight smile of his mouth. you really had no idea what to say, flustered by his comment.
then he seemed to realise what he was doing, and quickly turned to back to the movie.
“my mom wanted a left-handed daughter, and would always switch the pencil to my left hand when i was younger,” you told him. you had the sudden urge to spill a bit more of your life to him.
“ah, really?” he replied, still looking the other way.
“yeah, but at that point i was already used to my right. i ended up being able to write with both hands though.”
“oh, you can do that?” soobin joined in the conversation. you nodded at him with wide eyes, not expecting the sudden interruption.
“do what?” hanni asked.
“she can write using both her hands. isn’t she so cool?”
“really?” she gasped, looking at the pen in your left hand. “wow. our vice president is way cooler than the president himself.”
“hey!” heeseung exclaimed as everyone giggled.
“seriously though, she’s the whole package. smart, talented, and pretty?” soobin lowered his voice in a mock-whisper, “i can treat you way better than this guy," he joked, pointing his thumb at heeseung.
“alright, i think we need to get a new treasurer,” heeseung suddenly said. he pointed at the projection and yelled, “look! ernesto's actually the villain!” this successfully put everyone's attention back on the movie, all shocked by the plot twist. (you already knew, because coco was your favourite airplane movie.)
when the party finished up, heeseung actually stayed behind this time, and helped you clean up.
“oh, you really don’t have to,” you told him.
“it’s fine, it’s quicker like this. it’s not fair to make you clean up when you don’t have two working hands.”
you watched as he put away the heavy binders and throw out the trash, feeling a little off-put by the new scene. you thought that maybe you should just go home and leave him to lock up, but he wasn’t saying anything, so you stayed and kept him company. his presence was surprisingly comforting.
“you have the keys?”
“yeah,” you answered, trying to open your backpack.
heeseung made his way over and opened your bag for you. “here, i’ll get it. tell me where it is.”
“oh, uhhh in the pocket there. the left one.”
he found the keys and took them before closing the bag again. he waited for you to put it back on, but noticed you struggling a little with the books in your arm.
“why don’t you just put these in your bag?” he asked, taking them from your good arm and helping you slip your injured one through a strap.
“it’ll be really heavy if i do.” you then thanked him, gesturing for him to give back your textbooks.
instead, he kept them, even holding the door open and waiting for you to pass by first.
“where do you live? i’ll try to help you bring these home.”
“you really-”
“it’s fine, i promise. in fact, i insist.” at your expression, he added, “what kind of president would i be if i didn’t help out my vice?”
right. president. and vice president. not friends, not even classmates. just coworkers.
you rolled your eyes and let him help you. “i usually take the bus home. the one that goes to the museum.”
“ah, i know that one. i usually walk home, but i think there’s a stop that bus goes to that’s near my house. so let’s go.”
heeseung led the way, walking in front of you so you took the chance to observe him from behind.
recently, you noticed that although he always looked put together and clean at the beginning of the day, his hair and clothes felt more loose and casual towards the end of the day - particularly on the longer days where there were council meetings after school. you like this version of him; you feel closer to this heeseung, because it’s a side that only you (and the other members) got to see. it felt a little bit like a secret.
“sorry, looks like my stop is earlier than yours. are you fine with carrying these yourself from here?”
“yep.”
“alright. well then, okay.” when he stood up as the bus stopped, he turned to you and waved lightly. “bye bye!” it was a little endearing - the way he'd said it.
“see you.”
you immediately flopped onto your bed when you reached home (on your back side, of course). it was an… odd day, but you didn’t dislike it.
after a bit of a struggle, you finally fished your phone from your bag, sending ningning a message.
“i think you took my advice too seriously,” ningning chortled during class the next day. “when i said i’d break my leg i didn’t mean actually getting injured!”
you dragged your hand down your face, asking whatever being was listening to your pleas to make your best friend stop teasing you.
“it’s not like i sprained my elbow on purpose??”
“oh girl, you don’t have a single athletic bone do you?”
“you know what, maybe i need to learn to shut up and stop telling you things.”
“i know you won’t. when you’re with me, your attempt at a mysterious persona disappears…”
“are you saying i’m loud?” you ask in mock-offense.
“i’m saying you yap a lot,” she rolls her eyes playfully. “but seriously, who knew getting hit by a volleyball would lead you and The Heeseung finally talk. maybe that guy should’ve thrown one at you when we were fourteen.”
“when did you start rooting for him?” you raised an eyebrow at her.
“i just thought he deserved a chance,” she shrugged nonchalantly, but the way she turned away didn’t sit right with you.
“oh, okay,” was all you came up with.
“so, anyway,” she started again after a moment. “i stalked my ex’s spotify and-”
“oh my god,” you groaned at the mention of her ex. “ningning i told you before, you need to forget about him.”
“i know, i know. but i couldn’t help it! his user was just there on the side, and he was listening to memories!! by conan gray!! i had to see what playlist he was listening to.”
“you need to block his spotify.”
“but that’s so embarrassing. it’s never that deep.”
“if you can’t move on from someone who convinced you that you were nothing without him, then maybe it is that deep.”
ningning sighed. “okay, i’ll block him. but do you want to know what his latest playlist was about?”
“duh,” you laughed as ningning pulled out her phone, promising to block him after.
heeseung continued to help you on the way home every time you guys had a meeting, to your surprise. during those bus rides home, you learned way more about the boy in three weeks than you ever had in your three and a half years of knowing each other. you wondered what had made him like you so much before this if he never even really knew you.
“but i did,” he said. “i did know you.”
“did you really?” you asked, thinking he was joking.
“well, at first, i obviously didn’t. i just thought you were pretty, and fun to annoy. so i kept asking you out just to see your response. after that, i did begin to like you - on a superficial level, of course; i was fifteen!”
you listened intently, finally getting answers to a question you didn’t realise you’d been curious about for so long yourself. heeseung didn’t look at you at all during his monologue, but straight forward instead. so you were able to observe the way the gold light from the sun highlighted his features perfectly. (did he always have such a perfect nose?)
“and then there was a time where i just got tired of it. i wanted to stop, but then everyone would have thought it was out of character. so even though i didn’t even like you anymore - in fact, i hated you, i still kept asking you out. just for show. stupid, right?
“but then, one time, i accidentally ran into you at a shop with ningning. actually, more like i saw you and hid behind one of the aisles. but i heard you say you wanted to get something for your siblings too, and i was like, ‘wow, she actually cares about others?’ back then, i was convinced you only thought about yourself.
“another time, you posted one of your competition wins on your instagram, and i could see from the caption how much you adored your team, even tagging each one of them and thanking them individually. i had never seen someone put that much effort into a simple win before. i kind of felt like i wasn’t thankful enough to my own volleyball team,” he chuckled to himself.
“what really had me falling for you though was when you tutored my sister last year . before that, she'd been going through some sort of mental struggle, what with being bullied at school and coming home to our parents telling her she should be ashamed of her grades. i felt so bad that i couldn’t do anything, you know? her older brother; her protector, but couldn’t do anything against the very people who should have been protecting the both of us. when she’d been signed up with you though, she came home for the first time in a good mood - she was humming! and i asked if something good happened at school, and she told me all about her amazing tutor that assured her she wasn’t the useless being she thought she was. how she was finally beginning to understand school for once, and looked forward to your sessions. when i learned that was you, i wanted so surprised, but so grateful."
you had never felt so touched until now. somehow, heeseung’s words made you feel like you really were worth more than you believed.
“really? wait, who’s your sister?”
“lee haseul. the one with autism, remember?”
“ah yes, of course i do!” you said, the name ringing a bell in your head. “she was definitely a little harder to tutor, but once we found a way to use her fixation on cars and link it to what we were learning, it was smooth sailing from there.”
“i really have no idea how you did that, but you have no idea the impact that had on me and my family. sometimes she asks me what it’s like working with you,” he finally turned to look at you, a pretty smile on his face. your face burned at the adoration on his face, looking away yourself.
“i hope you tell her good things about me.”
“there’s not a bad thing to say.”
“really?”
“really.”
when heeseung left the bus that day, a part of him still stayed with you, as words that constantly replayed in your mind.
it made you feel a little self-conscious, knowing that he’d been watching you this closely all this time. you felt like your efforts were appreciated, and that they weren’t for nothing after all. while your admiration of him only begun after really seeing him work on the council, his respect for you had been brewing for way longer.
you went to bed thinking about him way more than you usually did (and you’ve been thinking about him more often since you sprained your elbow). you found yourself a little more excited for the next meeting day, when he’d go home with you again.
what would you guys talk about? will he tell you more of his thoughts? maybe his other interests? should you ask about his team and work? how was he handling all that? or perhaps you should ask about his sister. anything, really. you just wanted to talk. to him.
oh no, you sounded like a typical high school girl with a crush just now, didn’t you? (well, that’s exactly what you are - no shame in that, though!) if your arm wasn’t injured, you would have been punching your pillow and screaming into it right now.
oh, right - the elbow. for the first time, you really didn’t want it to heal. you wanted it to stay sprained for as long as possible, but that would be stupid, and inconvenient. but then, how else would you talk to heeseung outside of council work? it’s not like you two shared any classes, nor did you run in the same circles at school. the bus rides home were really the only times you got to really talk to heeseung, without all the eyes watching you two.
a small part of you began to dread the day your cast came off, because that would mean heeseung would stop talking to you again, right? he wouldn’t have any reason to riding home with you, and it would go back to that awkward thing you two had.
you sigh and turn over, careful with your arm, and finally fall into a fitful sleep.
“you’re staring at him again.”
that sentence had you flinching away and turning back to ningning, looking at you with a knowing glint.
“i can’t help it! his hair just looks so messy, obviously i’m going to notice.”
“his hair looks the same way it always does…”
“well- look at him walking around like he owns the place! he thinks he’s the shit, doesn’t he?”
“to be fair, he’s the student body president and captain of the volleyball team. maybe he is.”
“why are you defending him?!” you cried at all her replies.
“why are you trying to hard to hate him! we both know how much you li-”
“okay, okay, shhhh,” you shut her up by covering her mouth. really, she needed to learn to shut up. it’s not like the whole world needed to know about your massive crush on the boy you previously hated.
ningning pushed your hands away. “why are you more fixated on him today than usual anyway?”
"okay, first of all," you scoffed at her. "you make it sound like i'm always fixated on him."
"you are."
you rolled your eyes, then bit your lip after a moment of thought, knowing that whatever you were about to say would sound stupid(ly in love).
“it’s just that, i finally got my cast off this past weekend, so i can carry my books home perfectly fine again.”
“ah, and so he won’t be escorting you home anymore like he had been these past five weeks,” ningning finished your train of thought.
you buried your face in your arms, flushing bright red. “god, i sound like an idiot. i hate that i even thought that.”
the girl laughed at you, but patted your back consolingly.
“don’t worry about it. i don’t think heeseung’s gonna stop taking the bus with you just because you’re healed now. trust me, he’s one of the caring people i know.” was that a bit of sadness and longing? maybe you were interpreting her tone wrong.
“he probably will! it’s not like he used to take the bus home before i got hurt.” you peeked up at her. “is it wrong to ask you to throw another ball at me?”
“girl…”
when that day’s meeting finally ended, you and heeseung worked in tandem, tidying up the room before locking up, albeit a little more slowly. it was like both of you were waiting for something, but never said it out loud,
as you finally made your way out the school, you and heeseung turned to each other, hoping the other would say something.
“well-” heeseung started at the same time you said, “are you-”
after a brief moment of awkward silence, you guys burst into soft laughter at the silliness of the situation. what were you so afraid of anyway?
“do you still want to ride with me?” you finally asked him.
“if that’s okay with you.”
“of course it is,” you rolled your eyes playfully, falling into step with him.
“honestly, i thought you were going to go back to walking home after i healed up,” you confessed to him on the bus. “it made me kind of sad.”
“you’d miss me?” he teased, but there was excitement in his tone. he was elated.
“well, these rides are kind of fun! i wish i got to know you like this sooner. and then i thought we’d go back to the way we were before after this, but ningning assured me that it’d be fine.”
“ah yeah, ningning’s cool. wish i had a close friend like her by my side.”
it didn’t click until now how they seemed to be familiar with each other. when did heeseung and ningning become friends? in fact, when did they get a chance to even talk to each other?
“are you friends with her?” you tried to ask nonchalantly, like the topic wasn’t bugging you now. if those two were friends, why didn’t ningning mention it to you?
heeseung seemed to notice the shift in your mood though. “we’re just friends, promise. there’s nothing between us.”
that eased you a little, but that wasn’t really your main concern.
“that’s nice to know. but how did you become friends? i thought you two were was close as me and you were before all this.”
“oh! we met up at summer camp. it was purely by coincidence; my parents decided to send me to one last summer, and she happened to be there. i didn’t know anyone else, so i stuck by her for most of the two weeks we were there. we got to know each other then.”
ningning’s summer camp. last summer had been her third year there, so she wasn’t new or anything. the programme usually lasted two weeks, and they’d take away their phones during that time, so you’d have no contact with her until it ended.
but you’re surprised she didn’t tell you about it when she came back. after all, she had said it was ‘just as usual’, but seeing the new face of your best friend’s (previously) most hated person didn’t seem like nothing.
“huh.”
“i swear though, there was nothing between us back then.”
“i see.”
“i hadn’t talked to her much after my date with you-”
the date. ningning had been the one to push you to go. but why? even if her and heeseung became friends during camp, you and her were still closer. so why did she switch sides? you’d thought it was odd how she was suddenly encouraging you to say yes, when she’d spent the last four years sticking her tongue out at heeseung by your side.
the date, which had gone both so bad and yet so good. when everything had gone terribly wrong, but heeseung did everything right.
“i’m so sorry for being late!” heeseung panted as he ran up to your table.
“the one time i give you a chance, and you’re an hour late, lee.”
“i know, i know. it’s just that my sister-”
“i’m not hearing out any excuses,” you huffed.
you’d felt so humiliated waiting for him. you were shaking, your hair was frizzy with stress and your make up probably a little smudged too. the staff had even given you a free cheesecake slice out of pity. a pity cake.
“whatever, you’re here now, so let’s get this over with”
the waitress came over and gave you an encouraging look (which you ignored) and took your orders. when your meals arrived, you stared at the orange slices in the sauce of your orange chicken. although you hated them, you actually loved the sauce and chicken itself, so you ordered them every time you went to a chinese restaurant.
“you don’t like the oranges?” heeseung asked after seeing you pick them out.
“not really, no. i don’t know how to explain it; i love orange chicken, but i hate actually seeing the oranges on the sauce. it’s a little bit jarring for me, fruits and savoury foods together just don’t make sense to me visually, but when i taste them, they’re so good. just like pineapples on pizza, you get me?”
“i guess,” he thinks out loud. he uses his own chopsticks and starts picking them out from your plate, placing them onto his. “mind if i take these then? i love oranges.”
“i’ve literally seen you throw out a whole orange at school before.”
“you were watching?” he smiled sheepishly, a light pink tint to his cheeks.
“n-not particularly.” you look back down at your food, focusing on your task. you need to be more careful with what you say.
after a terrible start to your date, the rest of your lunch went okay. it wasn’t too bad, and you two started discussing your next plan: watching a movie.
“i’m not even a marvel fan,” you told heeseung after he said he’d gotten two tickets for spiderman: no way home.
“don’t worry, i’ll explain everything to you during the movie.”
“really? also, isn’t a movie a terrible date idea? we wouldn’t really talk to each other.”
“well, i will. i tend to talk a lot during movies.” he turned to you with an apologetic look. “i hope you won’t mind.”
“i’ll need it, won’t i?”
turns out you didn’t need his talking during the movie because you two didn't even get to watch it. a kitchen in the food court next to the theatre had gone up in flames, with the fire spreading to it’s surroundings. thankfully, no one died, but the damage was pretty severe, with half the mall having to close down until reparations are finished. and who knows how long that’ll take…
“oh! well, it’s a good thing i was a little late then, right?” heeseung tried to lighten up this messy date as you two passed by the mall which was now in ashes.
“i guess,” you mumbled. “so what now?”
“well, how about a little bowling?” he suggested.
you nodded, and he drove you two to the local bowling alley. you hadn't done it since you were eight, so heeseung showed you how to do it on your first turn.
“swing your arm like this,” he said, holding onto your bicep and holding onto the ball for you.
“you can let go, you know. i can carry the weight, it’s only the small size after all.”
“i know, but it’s just for demonstration. i’m going to let go of the ball now, okay? make sure to hold tightly,” he looked at you intently. geez, how could someone telling you to hold a bowling ball look at you like you hung the stars?
well, you didn’t really need his help anyway. your instincts kicked in and you managed to hit nine pins all together on your first, with similar numbers for the rest of the rounds. you even got a strike twice!
“are you sure you’ve never bowled before?” heeseung chuckled in awe.
“positive.”
“it always surprises me how easily you pick up things.”
“…thanks.”
and then you hit very few pins every single round after that in the second game.
you hadn’t been able to finish your second game however, because a heavy downpour suddenly came down.
“oh my god, the water is rising so fast,” you called over to heeseung as you looked out the glass doors of the main exit. if the floor hadn’t been lifted, the water would have started flowing in by now.
“crap, should we go home before it gets worse?”
“i suggest you should, kids,” the man behind the counter gruffed. he himself was getting ready to go, with the other customers running outside to their own cars.
heeseung looked outside and then at you.
“you can’t walk outside in those shoes, they’ll get wet.”
you were wearing pointy slip ons that would definitely get wet and soaked if you took a step outside, but it’s not like you had a choice.
“it’s alright, let’s just go-woah!”
heeseung picked you up bridal style and started making his way to his car, going fast but careful not to slip.
“hey! let me down!”
“no way, we’re almost there.”
you tried to fight him off, but he just held tightly until you reached the car, and he gently set you down into the passenger seat before backing out of the parking lot.
“are you crazy?”
“are you?” he retorted. “like hell i’m letting you get all soaked on our first date.”
you wheezed. “this date was so unlucky. who imagined everything that happened could’ve happened.”
“i know! and i wanted to make a good impression so bad. it’s like the world is against me,” he whined.
as you finally reached the front of your apartment complex, heeseung turned to you one last time.
“i’m sorry for everything that went wrong. please let me make it up to you.” he sucked in a breath, and you realised what he was going to say just a moment before he did.
“will you let me take you out on another date?”
yes. absolutely. this was fun. it was terrible, but i had a great time. wait, is this him asking me to be his girlfriend? i should ask. if he says yes, would i say yes? i don’t know, i don’t know him that well. i’ve only really only talked to him today. today’s date. everything went wrong. what if that was a sign? if i say yes, will all our dates just keep going to shit? no way, today was just an anomaly. we’ll be fine. but then when i go back to school, everyone will know. they’ll all look at me like they knew this would happen. they’ll clap him on the back and whoop in the halls, that’ll be so embarrassing. i hate that. maybe i should say no. but he was so sweet. it’s not his fault. but i wouldn’t be able to handle the attention. maybe i should-
“oh… i see.”
you looked up at him in confusion. but he wasn’t looking at you anymore. just straight ahead.
had you said something out loud? your thoughts were running wild, and you really couldn’t make up your mind.
“okay, well. have a good night,” heeseung said. when did he make his way to your door? even through the heartbreak clearly displayed in his voice, he still went out and opened the door for you. or maybe he was kicking you out of his car. was ningning right? had he thought you were undateable?
too much. too much was happening; so much happened today that you couldn’t form an answer. heeseung took your silence as a no (or did you actually say no? out of instinct?), which made your mind even more befuddled. you weren’t sure if you were even forming a coherent thought.
“oh, okay.”
you somehow made it out of the car and to the entrance of the apartment. turning back, you found heeseung’s car still there, with him watching you. you gave a weak wave, one he didn’t return, and punched in your house number.
at the last moment, you wanted to say something. anything, you didn’t know what. but when you around back to him again, he was gone.
you didn’t sleep at all that night. or maybe you did? you couldn’t tell. you’d been so worried over that last moment with heeseung, and had replayed it so many times in your head.
eventually, you convinced yourself that things were fine. that maybe you just imagined it. maybe it wasn’t that bad, and things would go back to normal at school.
definitely. he’ll definitely get back to his shenanigans when school started up again. there wasn’t some sort of finality in his tone - no you just imagined it.
you were wrong.
“why didn’t you tell me you met heeseung at summer camp?”
“how’d you-”
“he told me.” you looked at ningning intently. “but it should have been you.”
“i just- i didn’t think it was worth mentioning! you hated the guy, and it’s not like him being there would have affected you in any way,” she defended herself.
“sure, but i would have appreciated hearing it from you. you knew i’ve had a crush on him for months now, and you could have mentioned it to me?? summer camp was in july; it’s already march for fuck’s sake!”
“i wanted to! i just couldn’t find the right time. you were always busy with student council stuff, and whenever you were free you always talked about heeseung,” he huffed exasperatedly. “how was i supposed to just go, ‘by the way, your crush paid me to set you guys up!’”
your head snapped towards her.
“what?”
“what do you mean wh-” when ningning saw the look on your face, she slapped her hands over her mouth. “you didn’t know about that part...”
“no. i didn’t,” you seethed. “well, i’m glad i got to hear at least something from you.”
you stormed out, ignoring ningning’s pleas of ‘wait! hear me out!’
a fool, that’s what you were. somehow, ningning’s behaviour was even more clear. your best friend had been paid to convince you to say yes. who would have thought she was easily swayed by a few bucks?
and to think that heeseung was really that desperate to take you on a date, going so far as to pay someone close to you to get you to agree? wow, he really was a grade A asshole. sports day had just been topped by ‘being played by my own best friend and crush’ on your list of most embarrassing moments.
speed walking through the halls, you couldn’t stand to look at the pictures of you and heeseung’s faces on the student council board. it hurt so bad, that your feelings could just be easily bought. that someone you considered as family could sell you out like this. that the guy you’d fallen for would go to this length to ‘get you’.
at the bus stop, you saw the man himself smile brightly at you and wave, like he didn’t pay your best friend to get you to go in a date with him. one thing that never fails to amaze you is the audacity of men.
was it all a lie? was his kind-hearted and caring personality all fake? just another thing he did to get your attention? did you truly know heeseung like you thought? or just the 'heeseung' he wanted you to see?
you pointedly looked away, and decided to go home by foot. it was twenty minutes away by walking, but that was enough time for you to at least calm down a little and think about it more. sort out your mind.
you ended up skipping the rest of the week, convincing your parents you were sick (by putting a hot pack on your face and neck before they checked). otherwise, you might have actually broken down right then at school if you saw either heeseung or ningning.
"is everything okay?" soobin asked one day.
"yeah! everything's fine," you said cheerily. "why do you ask?"
"well, it's just that you've been sitting with us instead of ningning."
looking at soobin and his friends, you finally noticed the slight awkward air in the group because of your presence. to be fair, you weren't really close with them to begin with. or anyone. you spent most of your lunch breaks with ningning, but now that you've refused to talk to her for the last two weeks, you've been floating between different groups. sometimes, you even spent lunch in the toilets or the student council room.
but who else could you spend it with? you weren't ready to face ningning yet, and it was already hard enough tolerating heeseung during meetings. you didn't miss the worried looks from him, and he's tried to talk to you several times (which you always declined).
a sigh escapes you, and you massage your forehead. obviously, you needed to confront them both eventually. but not right now. whatever the answer is, you don't think you'd be able to handle it right now.
"do you want to talk about it?" soobin asked, a low volume only for you to hear.
"maybe later," you admitted. it would be a good idea to tell an outsider all of this, especially to soobin, who's always been a great advice-giver.
"there won't be a meeting this friday; seniors are having a rehearsal for the graduation ceremony then. the school wanted to have one before finals started," heeseung told the council. he looked around and asked, "anything else?" at everyone's silence, he nodded and closed the meeting. everyone bid their goodbyes and left, except soobin.
heeseung stared at you with anticipation and uncertainty. he'd given up on asking you to talk for a while now, but still waited for you to act first. he understood that you'd come to him when you were ready.
you looked up at soobin, looking at you with a similar expression, but one that had more curiousity and less anxiety.
"let's go?" he asked. you nodded and followed him out, leaving heeseung to lock up on his own.
you started doing that ever since The Incident. of course, you didn't leave all the clean up work to him, but you rushed your own responsibilities to minimise as much time you had to spend with him as possible.
"seriously?"
you and soobin turned back, finding the voice belonging to heeseung. he was standing outside the student council room, looking at you two, fuming. you could practically see the steam coming out his ears.
"you ignore and shun me away, refusing to talk about this issue between us, but talk to soobin about it instead? why are you dragging him into this??"
you rolled your eyes and turned to him fully, blood boiling. "i'm not 'dragging him into this'. i just wanted to talk to someone, is that so wrong?" you retorted.
"yes! you seriously think getting soobin's opinion is gonna help?"
"am i not allowed to talk to him now? are you going to pay him to stop talking to me too?"
"god, i know it was wrong of me, okay?! i'm sorry, it was shitty of me."
"your apology isn't going to suddenly make everything better. it won't take back what you did."
"i know. but please, talk to me. it's driving me crazy, how you go about acting normal with everyone but me. this whole year, did you not feel anything for me at all? do you really hate me?" he asked, his voice cracking at the end. "if you do, tell me now. so i can finally move on."
you stared at the boy, and the way the late afternoon sunlight hit him from behind. you could barely make out his expression, but maybe that was for the better. you probably wouldn't have been able to turn away and stand your ground if you saw the look on his face.
"you can't say that. not when you were the one who put yourself in this situation. did you think i would never find out? that you bribed my best friend into setting me up with you?" you heard soobin's surprised gasp on the side.
although you had your back to heeseung, you could still imagine what he looked like. the scene broke your heart, but not as much as it did when you found out that ningning had even agreed to such a thing.
after it was clear he wasn't going to reply, you started walking away, with soobin tailing you.
"wow... so that's what happened," was the first thing he said after a few minutes of silence.
"yeah."
"what a dick move."
"right."
you sighed, the adrenaline leaving you and now realising how loud you two had been. there weren't many students left at school, but a teacher or two probably heard the commotion. you'll be the hot topic of the staff lounge room for sure.
when you finally explained it all to soobin, he was quiet for a moment, thoughtful.
"i honestly never expected this from heeseung. it just- it doesn't seem like him."
"that's what i thought too. a little part of me wishes it's all some misunderstanding, but i don't know how it could be twisted any other way."
soobin hummed in agreement. "but, i noticed one thing from all of this though: you still call ningning your best friend," he pointed out. "despite everything, you've already forgiven her. or at least, you've begun to."
you bit your lip, realising he was right. you were beginning to accept it. she seemed genuinely sorry, and you could never hate her forever.
"it's just that - after getting to know heeseung, i felt like a terrible person for not giving him a chance. for always turning him down harshly. maybe i drove him to bribe ningning, maybe she got fed up with me too. i couldn't help but feel guilty for causing both of them to act like this.
"and i know this sounds wrong... but somehow, i felt a little relieved that i wasn't the only person in the wrong. that i wasn't the only asshole in this story - isn't that such a twisted thought?"
soobin melted when he saw your face, and pulled you in for a hug.
"of course not. it's alright to feel like this, you know? it's what makes us human, and what are humans without complicated feelings?"
and just like that, a dam was broken. you didn't realise how much you needed to hear those words until he said them.
it wasn't until may that you finally mustered up the courage to finally talk to ningning, and it seemed she had the same idea too.
"please, can we talk?" she asked at the same time you called her name.
"i was just about to ask the same thing."
once you two found an empty classroom, ningning started immediately.
"listen," she called for your attention. "i'm so sorry. you have no idea how many times i want to say it; i'm sorry, i'm sorry, i'm sorry. it was such a light offer, really. i didn't realise the meaning it would have in the moment."
"what do you mean, a 'light offer'?"
"during camp, i had bought heeseung's sister some ice cream because she was being left out by the other kids. it was only like two dollars, but heeseung insisted on repaying. but the smallest bill he had was a five, so obviously i refused. but he kept asking me to take it and i told him that if i took it, i'd be the one in debt to him instead. so he made a light-hearted joke about getting you to go on a date with him, so that there'd be no hard feelings between us." she looked up at you pleadingly. "we'd been joking around, i didn't even realise the reality of his question. but when i got back from camp, i didn't think you'd actually go on one with him."
"you kept bringing it up; i trusted your opinion."
"i did, but i didn't really mean it. i was hoping you'd continue to say no, and i could just tell him something like 'sorry, i tried. here's your three dollars back.'"
"you didn't mean it?" you prodded.
ningning looked down at her hands and sighed. you could tell something was weighing on her.
"the truth is... i ended up catching feelings for heeseung. you know how i'd just broken up with my ex recently."
you thought back to her ex, who had isolated ningning from you and her other friends. how she'd come to school covered up even in the heat. the way she'd lost a worrying amount of weight. in all honesty, you should have tried to pry more; to break her out of this toxic relationship. but instead, you told yourself that there wasn't anything you could do, and left her to deal with the abuse on her own.
the guilt ate you, but you distracted yourself with work (and heeseung). god, you're so self-centred, aren't you?
"oh yeah, i remember very well."
"exactly," she says, hearing the loathing in your voice. "heeseung was the first person to show me genuine kindness after that whole affair. and so i found myself watching him over those two weeks, falling for him. and i thought to myself: if you didn't want him, then could i? i feel like the worst person ever, how could i even think that?"
her voice broke at the end, and you could see her silently crying; tears poured down her face but her sobs were inaudible. you'd noticed it was a habit she formed after getting with her ex. she'd never cried much before him, but she used to cry as loudly as you. you placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"it's okay. you're not the only one with shitty thoughts."
her wide eyes peered up at you, sparkling with tears. she wrapped her arms around you, and you reciprocated the embrace.
the way she'd hiccuped and the wet spot you could feel forming on your shirt yet the silent sobs broke your own heart, and you had to force your own tears down.
"i'm sorry too. i was too absorbed in my own life that i didn't pay enough attention to the way you were breaking. i mean, how did i not notice anything all this time?"
you wondered if her smile had ever wavered when she was with you, if she had to fake a laugh, or even force herself to talk to you this past year. dealing with her own problems on her own, while you vented to her yours. if she had, you didn't notice (someone give you a 'best friend of the year' award right now!).
as much as you wanted to hate her for liking heeseung, you didn't. you understood her feelings, especially after getting to know the boy himself. he brought a sense of safety with him wherever he went - so how could you ever hate your best friend for needing that security when no one else offered it to her?
"wait, can i ask you something?" you asked. ningning slipped from the embrace, nodding.
"if you liked heeseung, then why did you still ask me to accept his date offers? you could have just kept it from me, and told him that i said no. was it really just because of the three dollar 'debt'?"
"ah, right. well, when he'd asked me to get you to go on a date with me, it reminded me just how much he liked you. i don't think he'd ever see me the same way, not when his sights are so fixed on you. and after getting a taste of his hospitality, i felt that you deserved it too. that not only did he deserve a chance, but so did you.
"i realised that you needed someone like him. i couldn't give you the care and support he could, not when i'm too absorbed by my own problems. and i knew you were feeling guilty, and heeseung was the only one who could really understand you."
oh, you really were going to either jump off a cliff or hug her so tight her eyeballs might pop out. even when you neglected, she still thought about you through it all. heeseung was wrong, he made you out to be this caring person who thought of others, but that person was really ningning.
"but, what about you? you need care and support too."
"it wouldn't work out between us, he's not the kind of person i want. he was just the first kind person in a while. i need to heal and learn to be more independent myself."
a quiet moment followed, with the both of you lost in your thoughts and emotions. you hadn't felt this lonely in so long, and a weight had finally been lifted from your shoulders.
"so what are you going to do? have you talked to heeseung yet?"
"no, not yet. but he's waited four years now, he can wait a little longer. i just want to spend time with my best friend right now."
'a little longer' ended up being another month. when finals started, the school let the older years off on study leave to focus on exams. so you didn't end up seeing heeseung until the final graduation rehearsal.
as president and vice president, you two were expected to perform a speech and be next to each other the whole ceremony. so you decided it was the perfect time to confront him then.
"heeseung, wait," you called, grabbing onto his wrist as he walked by.
he immediately paused in his tracks, whipping around to look at you with wide eyes, surprised you'd finally decided to talk to him. you glanced at his friends behind him, all with a mix of curious and knowing looks.
"oh, uh, you guys can go ahead," he told them, and they left you two alone.
"i made up with ningning..." you told him.
"i see! that- that's good. im happy you guys did."
"...and i'm sorry. for making a big deal out of nothing. for making you wait so long. you're seriously one of the sweetest people i've ever met. you didn't deserve that."
heeseung shook his head in protest. "no, don't say that. i'd wait for you as long as you want, even if you never accept me. and it was a big deal. i'm guessing she told you?" you nodded. "it was fucked up of me to even make a joke like that. in fact, it was worse than if it was a genuine deal. and i can't just buy your love with three dollars, you're worth more than that." you tried to say something, but heeseung continued.
"i screwed up, i know. but i never lied to you. if there's one thing i've always been sure of, it was loving you. don't you ever feel like you have to love me back though, it's not something you can force. but i'll always have your back. no matter how many fights, how many fuck-ups, or if i ever lose my feelings for you - which might never happen. you can always fall back on me for support."
your eyes watered at his sincerity, feeling unworthy of his kindness.
"i don't deserve that though. ningning does."
"you both do. listen to me," he said, grabbing onto your shoulders and forcing you to look up at him. "don't you ever dare say that you're undeserving of love and support. every one does, but i know who you are; i know how hard you work and your honesty. and i want to guarantee you a home with me, if you ever need one. because i love you."
wow. you've cried so much these past few months, and you're sure you're about to start again. heeseung wiped your tears with his thumb, and your heart swelled.
a year ago, you would have never even thought of accepting heeseung's feelings. a few months ago, you thought you had just missed him, finally reciprocating his feelings right as he lost them. but now you were finally on the same page, and you didn't want to waste another moment.
"i love you, heeseung."
graduation day was a busy one. you had to start getting ready earlier than other students in order to prepare your speech and arrive before everyone else. it was stressful, yet rewarding, especially as you crossed the stage and finally received your diploma.
when you and heeseung were set to give your pre-written speeches, you almost didn't notice the way everyone looked motivated during his, being captured by his words yourself. you hoped to be able to instil that inspiration in others one day.
towards the end of his speech though, he did something you didn't expect, but shouldn't have been surprised by.
"so toward my fellow graduates and our families who've supported us all this way, let's celebrate our achievements and strive to follow our dreams," then turned to look back at you, pulling a bouquet of flowers from under podium, which he'd blocked from your view this whole time with his body. "as i will be with mine. so i'll ask one last time: would you let me have the honour of being your boyfriend?"
you rolled your eyes, but couldn't hide the smile on your face. with the cheers echoing throughout the hall, you suddenly got a sense of deja vu, remembering his election speech the previous year.
oh, how much things have changed since then.
"if only you'll let me be your girlfriend."
Tumblr media
; BONUS
with exams over and the heatwave taking over the country, you had decided to spend the day at heeseung's house and try to cool off.
"are you and ningning going back to camp this summer?" you asked, hoping he'd say no. having zero contact with your best friends for two weeks sounded like hell. not even a good morning or good night text? shivers went down your spine at the thought.
"i think i'll be busy with college apps. not sure about ningning though."
"really?" you gasped, turning over to look at him. "so basically i get to spend the whole holiday with you."
heeseung grinned at you excitedly, thinking the same. then, his face suddenly lit up, as if remembering something.
"speaking of ningning, i just remembered how she sprained her leg last year. she spent the rest of the week in the infirmary."
"really? she was fine when she came back though."
"it was minor, so it only took one week, in the middle of those two."
suddenly, you remembered something too.
"i'd hang out with him, break my leg, therefore obliging him to bring me to the hospital, manipulate him to visit me every day as i recover, be overbearing as hell so that he'd realise he doesn't want me anymore, and poof! he's gone."
"no way..."
"what?" he questioned.
"did you have to visit her everyday?"
"oh. yeah, to give her her medicine and meals. the other kids had basically made me their makeshift nurse, since i treated them better than the nurse apparently," he laughed at the memory. "i caught the old lady glaring at me several times - maybe she thought i'd stolen her job?"
you laughed with him, but not only because of his story. you couldn't believe ningning's oddly specific solution had actually come out of experience. you were so going to bully her for this later.
"should i glare at you too, then?"
"hm?" he hummed confusedly.
"for stealing my heart."
heeseung blinked at you for a moment, before breaking into a wide smile and suddenly attacking you with tickles (a habit you learned he tended to do when he was flustered, specifically by you).
giggles escaped you, laughing so hard that it began to hurt. if this is how it's going to be with heeseung, you'll grow abs in no time.
"okay! okay, stop-" you cackled.
he obliged, helping you sit back up. then he tucked your hair behind your hear and placed a quick peck on your lips.
suddenly shy, you looked away with a smile facing the fan as it blew air onto your face, pushing your hair back. when you looked back at heeseung over your shoulder, you were surprised to find him beaming at you with awe on his face.
"you're beautiful, you know?"
"only when i'm with you."
"nope. you're always stunning."
"okay."
"you don't believe me?"
"i do."
"good. i'll keep saying it anyway, to make sure you do."
you stared at him for a moment that felt like hours, just staring into each others eyes. you then went in for a hug, toppling over the other and staying in that position - just you two cuddling on his bed.
sure, it was really hot today, but somehow the warmth from his body was more comfortable than anything else. you couldn't have asked for a more perfect moment.

Tumblr media
y/n's perspective
I feel guilty… Heeseung approached me saying Jay planned on rejecting me but didn't want me to get hurt. It was strange to know that he was there on Jay's behalf to reject him.
I knew he was telling the truth but I swear there was more to what he was saying.
He wasn’t telling me a few things and I knew he was withdrawing details I should’ve known. He’s done it before…
“Stop thinking too much” I heard Sunghoon whine. I smiled as I simply muttered ‘I can’t’ he nodded understanding but grinned.
“Then think of how handsome I am!” he said, making me laugh but we heard a scoff coming from Sunoo. “Hey! I’m older than you, show me respect” Sunoo only shrugged.
“How delusional are you to feed our soulmate lies?” he taunted and the two started bickering. It was funny to see but also nice that they were still friends…
“y/n!” I heard as I saw Taki. “EJ and K need to look over some documents with you about homecoming!” he said and I nodded as I packed up my stuff to start going.
“Ah, you’re leaving us already!” Jungwon complained. “Well if you didn’t quit stuco I would still be working with you,” I said and groaned.
“I barely see you anyway” Sunghoon added and I sighed.
“Well, a lot of work has been coming on. You guys also need to start practicing again for the next match” I said and they scoffed… except Sunghoon.
“Try to get along… before me, you guys were actually friends”
Tumblr media
jay's perspective
Practices weren’t like they were. It's now awkward and uncomfortable. I wouldn’t be surprised if they quit our football team too.
I was pulled from my thoughts when I was knocked down by Niki. “Come on Jay! Before Niki never could’ve knocked you down!” Sunghoon said and he was right.
“It’s probably the rejection,” Sunoo said and I sighed. It felt horrible, my body was constantly drained. “Sooha!” Jake yelled and she grinned as she came over to us.
Was he still blind?
“It's been a while since I’ve been at your practice!” she said. “It's been a while since I’ve seen you three!” Sooha said to Jungwon, Sunoo, and Niki.
“They’ve been busy with the little witch–” Jake got cut off by Jungwon throwing the football at his head. “She has a name!” Sunoo said and Jake didn’t say anything for once.
“She’s been avoiding me,” she confessed. I noticed Heeseung looked at her with a sad expression. I wonder why he was so eager to hurt himself… torturing himself when he could just have y/n.
She talks to him… works with him… listens to him and yet he rejects her? I don’t understand how that could make sense.
“Is she doing well?” she asked Sunghoon and he nodded. “She’s doing well. I’m just worried about how much she’s working” he confessed.
“She’s been working too much… I'm worried she’ll get sick” Niki said while Jungwon and Sunoo stayed quiet.
“Well is she eating well?” Sooha asked and he sighed. “She’s been skipping lunch often because of homecoming,” Sunghoon said and I felt guilty.
Was she skipping meals?
'She rejected you, she’s not your responsibility'
Heeseung… sometimes you should just shut up.
Tumblr media
We were still practicing when we saw EJ and y/n.
“Looks like you guys are training hard~” EJ taunted and she smiled at her accepted soulmates. She ignored me, Heeseung, and Jake. Heeseung looked at her for a second before snapping out of it and going towards Sooha… was she a distraction for him?
He then glared at me and I looked away… I then looked at Jake, who looked sad?
“Are you okay?” I asked and he nodded. “I don’t like that she sees me like a monster… or that Heeseung thinks it's deserved, '' he said and I nodded. “But you did hurt her,” I said and he nodded.
“I can clearly see the turtle neck she’s wearing. So shut up about it, okay?” he said as he left. I needed a break.
“EJ! I need–""Sorry Sooha, but I need to go,” he said as EJ just left… even y/n looked shocked. I guess all of Riverfield was ignoring her.
“y/n… please talk–” “Sooha it isn’t any of her business,” Sunoo said as he hugged her from behind. It almost seemed like a challenge for Sooha. “ It is tough! K rejected me for her… I just wanted a chance. y/n you have to understand” she begged and the witch sighed.
“I’ll talk to him about it but Sooha give him some time. He can change his mind you know” she said and I wondered if she’d change her mind about– “What the fuck!” I yelled as I got hit by the football.
Of course, it was Heeseung… “Are you okay, Jay?” Sooha said running towards me. I looked at y/n though who also looked worried… did she still care– “Maybe we should finish practice here” Heeseung said and I scoffed.
“What is your problem?” I asked and he scoffed. “Don’t fight please” Sooha said and I looked at Heeseung who stared at me, almost challenging me…
“Immature the both of you” I heard Jungwon say.
“Just stay out of it” Sunghoon advised
“Let’s get dinner!” Niki said as he pulled y/n away from Sunoo and left… “What the hell, dude?!” I said and he scoffed. “Get over it already!” Heeseung yelled at me. “Heeseung don’t–” “Sooha this doesn’t involve you” he cut her off as he walked away.
The more he was rejecting his feelings the more resentful he was.
Tumblr media
y/n perspective
“Has Heeseung been more… snappy recently?” I asked Sunghoon and he nodded. “Jay thinks it’s because of you…” he confessed and I thought that too.
“He thinks he likes you but is ignoring his feelings,” he said. That couldn’t be true though… he was the first to reject me.
“Don’t worry your pretty little head about it. You’re stressed enough” he said and I nodded, but It was difficult not to worry
“Jungwon, I think you need to go back to the council” I suggested and he groaned. “I know but… we're so divided it doesn’t even feel like we’re friends anymore,” he confessed and I sighed. “Don’t let me be the reason you guys aren’t friends. You guys have been by each other's side for such a long time” I said and they sighed.
“Besides… I don’t think Heeseung can handle being president any longer” I said… I was worried even though I shouldn't be. Even when me and Jay only chatted… he confessed how much Heeseung was drowning himself in work.
He hasn’t made any move to replace them… in fact, they were still in council but just refused to go back.
“I think we all need a conversation with each other”
Tumblr media
jungwon’s perspective
We walked into the student council room.
“Yah! Quit acting like you control me!” Jay yelled at Heesueung who only stared blankly at Jay. Jake was also clearly annoyed. “And stop trying to make me feel worse about myself!” he said in retaliation, making the oldest hyung almost laugh mockingly.
“What do you want?” he said, looking at us now.
“Did your little love send you here?” he said, clearly trying to annoy me by using my nickname for her. “Yah… get to work will you. You’re behind on paperwork for y/n and she’ll be on me if you don’t finish it.” I ordered him and it must've thrown him off for a minute.
“You’re not president any–” “Yes I am. You didn’t find a replacement, you never even told the principal of the change so I am. Honestly, are you all trying to ruin my reputation?” I wanted to get them to start doing work. How far has our group fallen?
“The room is a mess!!” Sunoo screeched in horror.  Papers were all out of order… in organizing files too… it's only Riverfield stuff that's been kept up to date and ordered correctly.
“Heeseung,” I said and he only looked at me… was it jealousy?
“I’m president, so listen to what I have to say. You’re my vice president unless you need to be replaced”
Tumblr media
Everyone worked quietly.
Jay, Jake, and Heeseung were too quiet… but they didn’t protest
I was able to look over a bunch of the files that Heeseung was doing and fixed them only having to send them to y/n who would turn them in.
I was the only one doing the final touches while they organized and cleaned.
“I think we’re finished for once?” Jake said to Jay who nodded. They both looked relieved.
Heeseung however could only stare at the desk he sat by blankly…
“Is this a one-time thing?” Jay asked, almost worried that we’d answer.
“No… teachers have been angry at me for not doing my work. I have no other choice do I?” I asked and they nodded. They still had a wry smile though… I kind of missed it.
Did I miss them?
“I’m sorry” I heard as I saw Jake bow… “I lost control but I didn’t mean to hurt her,” he said, apologizing for burning her. “You should be telling her that,” Niki said and Sunoo rolled his eyes.
“She’s still scared of him,” he said and I nodded.
“Give her time…” I muttered and he nodded. He was sorry… I could see it in his eyes but I didn’t miss Heeseung scoffing.
He was almost annoyed…
“I’m not annoyed,” he said and I scoffed.
“Whatever, make sure to finish the assignment–” I was cut off by the door opening… “Oh… all of you in one room!!” Sooha said with a big grin on her face.
I kinda missed her– “What the heck, Heeseung?!” I yelled as I felt him smack my head. “You have your soulmate, she should be enough,” he said and I was confused.
“What are you implying ?” I was a bit irritated at what he said.
“No more fighting, you guys are finally getting along again!” she said and I don’t think that's what I would call it.
“How are you doing?” She asked Jay who looked at her with a fake smile. “Better” he lied.
“She’ll come around just like with Sunghoon and Jake can too—“ “No way is he allowed near her” I cut her off and they all looked at me.
“I didn’t mean—“ “You didn’t feel an ounce of guilt… you didn’t care as long as you had Sooha’s attention,” Heeseung said, shocking everyone.
“That’s not true! I do—“ “The day you burned her. You didn’t care… now that she treats you like the monster you are is when you felt guilt,” he said and I could see the pain flash in his eyes.
He hated being called a monster… he left the room and I could tell he was hurt.
“Heeseung! Why would you do that to him?! He deserved a second—“ “Sooha does he? If K burned your neck raw rejecting you?! Leaving you in fear of every vampire around you while barely even leaving your, studying, or even eating?! None of you saw how she was when it happened… it’s stupid is everyone losing their mind?!” he yelled.
“I think you’re the one losing your mind,” I said and he scoffed “You shouldn’t be thinking things like—“ “Don’t tell me what to do. I don’t like Sooha romantically. I never did… I love y/n and you’re just projecting to everyone” I said and he scoffed.
“Get a grip Heeseung”
Tumblr media
y/n’s perspective
Jungwon came to me with filled-out reports. For once since the beginning of the semester, Declis Academy Council was finished with the reports for the rest of the week.
“How’d it go?” I asked and he sighed frustrated. “They're all at odds and Heeseung is acting crazy…” he muttered as he buried himself into the crook of my neck. He wrapped himself around me… vampires weren't warm, they were cold so it was nice on days that were a little warmer.
I heard a knock on the door pulling me away from my thoughts and Jungwon stood up straight. “Jay?” he said as I saw him with… a lunch bag.
“Can we talk?” he asked and I looked at Jungwon who only stared indifferently at him. “You can stay if you want Jungwon, but I'm not gonna hurt her,” he said and the boy sighed. He kissed my forehead and smiled at me.
“I’ll be around. If you need me, text me okay?” he said and I nodded as he left me alone with Jay. I wasn’t scared of him… just weary around vampires ever since Jake. “I brought you food. The boys said how you haven't been eating because of how busy you were… so I assumed you haven't had dinner yet?” he asked and I smiled softly. “Thank you… I actually had to skip lunch today so I'm really hungry” I confessed.
“You shouldn’t be skipping meals” he scolded and I chuckled. “I know… but I have a lot of people relying on me, '' I said and he nodded. “Which means you can’t jeopardize your health that way” he scolded and I sighed.
“Why do you care? Heeseung told me about you rejecting–" "He wasn’t supposed to get involved…” he cut me off looking confused. “Heeseung… he pulled me aside saying you wanted to reject me and that you wanted me to do it. Was that not what you wanted? You like Sooha don’t you?” I asked, confused, about what he wanted.
“I was thinking about what I would do… since Jungwon found out you're our soulmate I contemplated. I wanted to be friends… to get close and I don't know okay? I just knew I had to be involved with you... I didn't want you to shut me out. But Heeseung got involved when it didn't involve him, '' he explained.
“The thing is Jay… I can’t be your second option–” “I know… which is why none of this is fair to you. I clearly have feelings for Sooha… but I can’t help but worry about you even before the bond formed” he confessed and I nod.
“So what now?” I asked and he sighed. “I can never be with Sooha. She’s not mine… and I messed up horribly with you. I’m not asking for forgiveness or to be your lover. I just… want you to be happy” he said and tried walking away. I didn’t know what came over me but I grabbed his wrist.
“Jay… tell me what you want” I demanded and he smiled a soft sad smile. “Nothing–” I don’t normally use magic… and I was sorry for using it on a soulmate but I needed to know.
“I want to be one of the people by your side,” he said and he looked at me confused. “What just happened?” he asked as I let go of his wrist which he took the opportunity to suspect.
“You’re overthinking things… but your inner desires sometimes are buried so deep you don’t know what you want” I explained and he nodded. “So I'm sorry… I used magic on you” I said and he shook his head. “It didn’t hurt me… Jake didn’t do as much for you in that department” he said and I sighed.
“I do want to be by your side… I don’t know if I want to be a lover, a friend. Anything, maybe?” he said and I chuckled.
“Then be selfish” I said and he laughed.
“Can I be by your side?”

Tumblr media
MURPHY’S LAW STATES: everything that can go wrong, will go wrong. Now, you had no idea who Murphy was, but you used to always believe he was full of shit. There had been plenty of instances where things could have gone wrong, but they didn’t.
In fact, when it came to your case, it seemed like things usually went right. You got good grades, and got along well with all of your teachers. You were the captain of your school’s volleyball team, and had even been elected your school’s student body president your last year of high school. Things always went well for you, which is why you had never really been a believer in what that Murphy guy had to say.
At least, that’s what you thought before today. Because now, you were starting to think maybe you had taken your past ability to narrowly avoid disaster for granted. Because today, just like Murphy had once predicted, everything that could go wrong did just that: go wrong.
It started with your stupid charger. The night before, you must have apparently unplugged it, because when you plugged it into your phone before going to bed, it never charged. Which meant your phone died, and that meant your alarm never went off. And that meant you woke up ten minutes before school started, and your bus was going to be there any second.
So, in the quickest fashion you could muster, you brushed through your hair so you looked at least somewhat presentable then slipped into your uniform. You were incredibly impressed by how fast you’d managed to do that—just over 60 seconds! It must have been some kind of record. Less impressive, though, was the fact that even though you had been so speedy, you watched as the bus you were supposed to be on drove away in the direction of your school, leaving you behind.
Thank goodness for all those years playing volleyball, you had built up enough stamina to (barely) get you from your house all the way to the school. You were twenty minutes late, sure, but hey, at least you were there, right? Your first period teacher was not so understanding, almost immediately assigning you to detention after school.
Detention. You never got detention. In your four years at that school, working your ass off to be the best student you could be, a child your parents could be proud ofc, not once had you gotten assigned to detention. The realization that for the first time ever, you’d been punished by a teacher, was a foreign feeling as you sat at your desk and replayed everything that had happened. Detention, all because your stupid phone charger decided not to work the night before.
“Damn, I thought you were immune to detention.” A voice behind you whispered, and you glanced over to see Choi Beomgyu grinning at you. Of course Beomgyu had seen that all.
Choi Beomgyu was the exact opposite of you. He had fights with teachers basically on the daily, and you were pretty sure he was failing most of his classes. Not because he was stupid, by any means, he was actually really smart. He just didn’t try, he didn’t care about school the way you did. What he did care about, though, was teasing you as much as was humanly possible.
And of course, he had just seen you, the student body president, run into class twenty minutes late and get detention.
You had half a mind to bite back at him, because oh would that be satisfying, but you weren’t looking to talk in the middle of class and make your punishment worse than it already was. You instead gave him a side-eye glare, and he must have found it amusing since he started to giggle.
Once class got out, you really shouldn’t have been surprised to glance over your shoulder to see Choi Beomgyu following you, hot on your tail like he was some sort of lost puppy. You groaned quietly to yourself, hoping that if you ignored him long enough, he would get bored and walk away. Unfortunately, Beomgyu was a very patient man.
“I can’t believe you were late! What happened? Did your carriage lose a wheel on the way here, your highness?” He asked, using his long legs so he could get right up next to you.
You stayed silent.
“Come on, you can tell me! I’m like, the king of being late. I won’t judge.” He nudged your arm with his elbow, with just enough pressure for you to fall out of your rhythm. Now, he finally had your attention as you turned to look at him, eyes narrowed.
“Look, I’m not in the mood today, okay?” You told him flatly, and you were expecting him to find your irritable mood amusing, and find a way to push your buttons further than he already had, but he didn’t.
Instead, his face softened and he (surprisingly) went quiet. You didn’t bother sticking around to figure out what that was all about, not when you still needed to get to your class on the other end of the building, and you were not risking being late to a second class. So, you gave him a small nod, a thank you for leaving you alone, then walked away.
The rest of your day wasn’t any better.
In your history class, you got your grades for a test you’d recently taken, and nearly fell out of your seat when you saw a big fat C staring back at you. And your horror increased tenfold when you saw it wasn’t just a C, but a C minus. Never in your high school career had you gotten a C minus.
At that point of the day, you were starting to become convinced that someone had put some sort of curse on you. You didn’t really have any enemies who would have done that to you, though. Except maybe Choi Beomgyu, but you had a feeling putting a curse on someone was too much effort for him to be bothered with.
By the time the school day was over, you were completely exhausted. At lunch, your best friend, Sumin, accidentally spilled her drink on your uniform, and now you were wearing some extras from the lost and found that were much too big for you. You wanted nothing more than to go home, crawl into your bed and have a good cry, but you still had to do your detention.
You weren’t really sure what to expect from detention, considering you’d never had to do it before. You knew you weren’t looking forward to it, though, and just hoped it wouldn’t be anything horrible--especially since it was your first offense.
Your first period teacher was waiting for you in her classroom after classes got out, and she greeted you with a sympathetic smile. “Y/N. You know you’re one of my favorite students, so it really broke my heart when I saw you come in late this morning.”
The urge to roll your eyes arose, but you managed to fight it. Here she was, acting like you had betrayed her or something, when really, it was her decision to punish you for something so small.
“I understand.” You replied with a nod, avoiding her gaze.
“Good. So, I figured out the perfect thing for you.” She stood up and began to walk out of the classroom, with you following closely behind.
Apparently, the perfect thing for you was some storage room that clearly hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. There had been racks with boxes of textbooks that must have gotten knocked over, since the books were now all over the floor. And the room was covered in a thick layer of dust that made your nose itch the second you stepped inside. She left you with a singular rag, a bottle of cleaner, then left you alone.
You stood in the doorframe, assessing the room in front of you. Just from looking at it, you knew it was going to take you at least a few hours to clean the entire thing by yourself. Which meant it was going to be a few hours before you could go home, a few hours before you could go sleep this horrible, awful day away. Even worse, you were sure that something would go wrong during those next few hours that would prolong the time even longer.
Throughout the whole day, ever since you first realized you’d missed the bus, you had felt tears pricking your waterline, but you had managed to hold them in. You were going to wait until you were in your own bedroom, in private, before you even thought of letting them out. But now, as you stood there, staring at the mess in front of you, you could no longer hold them in.
It was like the floodgates had opened up, and all of the emotions you’d been restraining all day were released. A sob racked through your body, and you were no longer able to keep yourself steady, your knees unbuckling beneath you and causing you to collapse onto the floor. It was wildly embarrassing, the way you became a mess on the floor of the dirtiest room you’d ever seen, where anyone could walk in and see you.
And of course, because stupid Murphy just had to be right, that was exactly what happened.
There was a soft knock at the door, and you hurriedly looked over your shoulder to see the absolute last person you wanted to see poking his head in. You were overcome with horror as you snapped your head around to look away, praying as hard as you could to whatever deity would listen that he hadn’t seen your tears.
“Woah, are you crying?” He asked, and you shook your head.
“No. Why would I be crying?” You sniffled, picking up the rag and spray bottle you had dropped onto the floor and standing up. He caught a glimpse of your face again when you walked past, and he scoffed.
“You’re totally crying. Why are you crying? What’s wrong?” He asked again, stepping further into the storage closet and shutting the door behind him.
You shot him a glare as you attempted to stand one of the racks back up. “I’m not crying. Besides, even if I were, I’m not telling you. You’ll just make fun of me.” You mumbled the last part. Standing the rack up was proving to be futile.
“No I wouldn’t!” He defended himself, watching as you struggled to push the rack up. “Here, let me help you with that--”
“No!” You snapped at him, and he backed up with his hands held up defensively. You tried one more time to stand it up, and let out a frustrated groan when it once again wouldn’t budge. You had no choice but to surrender, and move to the side so Beomgyu could help you.
You were angry that you had to get his help to move the stupid thing. Now you were forced to be thankful he had showed up and barged in. “Thanks.” You muttered, brushing past him as you went to once again get your little rag and bottle.
“You’re welcome.” Beomgyu replied, and though you were facing away from him, you could hear his annoying, cocky smile in his voice. “So, are you going to tell me why you were crying?”
“No.”
“Oh, so you were crying!”
“I didn’t say that.” You looked up at him as you sprayed cleaner onto the dusty shelf. “I told you already, didn’t I? I don’t want to talk about it.”
Unfortunately, he didn’t seem as willing to drop the subject as he had earlier in the day. “Come on, Y/N. I saw you crying, you’re clearly upset, just tell me about it!”
“You’re going to laugh at me.”
“No I won’t!” He exclaimed, sounding exasperated. You raised an eye at his outburst, and he cleared his throat. “Seriously. I won’t.” He softened his tone, looking at you with pleading eyes.
You stared back at him, trying to figure out if you could trust him. This was Choi Beomgyu you were talking about, the boy who had tormented you for years on end with his constant teasing. But, he did look very sincere. And you were sort of itching to rant to someone.
“Fine. My phone didn’t charge last night, so my alarm never went off, so I woke up late, then I missed the bus and had to run to school, and then I got detention, and then I got a C on my stupid history test, and then Sumin spilled her stupid soda on me, so I had to wear this stupid uniform from the lost and found, and-and then I had to come here and clean this stupid closet, and I’m just so tired, and I-I--” The next thing you knew you were crying again, your breath hitching in the back of your throat as the tears spilled onto your cheeks once again.
The second the sobs slipped from your lips again, Beomgyu rushed around the shelf, slipping his arms around your trembling body and pulling you close to his chest. You were so desperate for any kind of comfort, you didn’t bother trying to push him away. Instead, you leaned into his touch, reaching up to grip onto the edge of his uniform jacket. He began to rub your back as you buried your face into his shirt, letting yourself cry--like, really cry. You thought you were going to pass out at any second from how difficult it was for you to catch your breath between sobs.
After enough of his fingers rubbing circles into your back and his soft shh’s whispered into your ear, you were slowly able to calm down to the point you could breathe again. It was truly unbelievable that you were here, in some dusty storage closet crying into Choi Beomgyu’s arms. It was not a position you had ever predicted yourself to be in. And yet…
You didn’t totally hate it.
“Can I tell you something?” Beomgyu asked softly, and with a small sniffle, you nodded against his shirt. “The reason I tease you so much… It’s so embarrassing…” He laughed softly, and you gently pulled your head away, looking up at him with furrowed eyebrows.
“What?” You asked, and as he gazed down at you, his cheeks reddened.
“Um… When we were in first grade, I tried to copy off of your test, once…”
“Yeah, I knew that.”
“What?! No you didn’t, I was so subtle, you didn’t even notice.” He shook his head, and you rolled your eyes. “But anyways, that’s not the point. I was trying to copy off your test, but I remember, I made the mistake of looking at your face--”
“What’s wrong with my face?” You asked defensively, a frown befalling your features.
“Let me finish!” He snapped at you, and out of curiosity to hear the rest of the story, you conceded. “So, I made the mistake of looking at your face, and you were all focused, and had your tongue sticking out of the side of your mouth,” he paused to allow a giggle to escape his lips.
“And I remember thinking you were so cute, and then I got so distracted watching you, by the time you got up to turn your test in, I had missed everything you had written down.”
You stared at him in confusion, trying to figure out what on Earth the point of this whole story was. “What…?”
He rolled his eyes. “Oh come on, Y/N. You’re the top of all our classes, and you can’t figure it out?”
You shook your head, and he let out a defeated sigh.
“I’m saying, Y/N, that I tease you because…” He paused, sucking in a shaky breath. “Because I like you, okay?”
“Oh.”
Oh.
Beomgyu liked you? Since first grade? You were unable to process his words, playing them in your head on repeat like some kind of broken record. He liked you. He annoyed the hell out of you, just because he liked you. What kind of middle school boy behavior was that?
“Oh? Is that all you have to say to my heartfelt confession?” He asked in fake offense, and you quickly shook your head.
“No! I’m just--it’s just--you like me? As in like-like me?” He nodded in confirmation, and you squinted your eyes at him. As he watched you, your gaze drifted down to his jacket, which you had been clinging onto just moments earlier, and the tear soaked fabric.
You felt like you should be absolutely appalled by his confession, and wracked with disgust, or something. You weren’t supposed to like Beomgyu! You weren’t supposed to be able to even stand him! But, his confession wasn’t the worst thing you had ever heard. In fact, as your fingers reached out to graze the edge of his jacket, you thought maybe you sort of liked hearing it.
“Y/N?” He asked you quietly, and you hummed in answer. “You don’t have to say anything, you know. In fact, if you really want me to, I can leave. Or you can leave, and I’ll finish cleaning for you--”
Maybe it was because you were in an emotionally crazed state, or you were desperate to prove Murphy wrong, hell, maybe it was just because you liked him back, but whatever it was, something overcame you, and the next thing you knew, you were tightening your fingers around his jacket to pull him close to you and press your lips against his.
The first thing you thought when you kissed Choi Beomgyu, was why hadn’t you done this sooner? You had been so consumed by your dislike towards him, and too focused on other things like your academics, you had never stopped to think of Beomgyu in this way. But now, as he immediately kissed you back, and wrapped his arms around your waist, you wished you had thought of him this way.
Because kissing Choi Beomgyu was absolutely not wrong. Rather, it was very, very right. It was like his lips were made to fit perfectly against your own, as they moved together in unison. You started to think all the bad things that had gone down that day weren’t so bad if it meant they would lead to this.
After what felt like an eternity of heavy breathing and hot kisses, the two of you finally pulled away, resting your foreheads against one another as you attempted to catch your breath. You glanced up at Beomgyu, a small grin spreading across your face to mirror his own.
“Hey, do you really want to clean all this shit?” He asked quietly, cocking an eyebrow at you. You shook your head. “Didn’t think so. Let’s get out of here, we’ll just tell them I kidnapped you, or something. You’re the Pres, they’ll believe us.”
Running away now was risking even further punishment, but Beomgyu was right. You were the president, you could basically do whatever you wanted. Besides, you’d spent all day trying to do the right thing, and still, everything had gone wrong. So, why not live a little, right? And why not do it with the cute boy who just confessed he’d liked you since the first grade?
You nodded. “Okay.”

Kiss Me - Pham Hanni
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pham Hanni X GN!Reader
Desc- You don't like Jay, but you like love his girlfriend
tags- highschool au, non!idol au, ft. jake from enha, jay from enha, jungwon from enha, hyein from nwjns
Warnings: underage drinking (drink milo instead), mention of smoking (dont smoke yall), some illegal shi, Yn is the second biggest hanni's simp (im first), cheating but he had it coming. I do not condone cheating or whateva 🙏
note- A lil snth while i wait for my brain to work i love jay boo sm he's my patootie but hanni is my pookie whle writing ths. as you can see, i continued writing on different days, took me a whole week to actually get this done. writing got better at one point of this one.
The school 'It couple' was standing at the corner of the party. Jay, the school's star player and quarterback. Hanni, the Stuco president. A match made in heaven was what everybody says and thoughts. Jay and his romantic antics wins Hanni over, the perfect girl who only hang out within her friends group.
Which you don't find romantic at all, if giving the girl flowers that wasn't her favorite but his instead, If taking the girl to expensive restaurants when she prefer quiet, peaceful places was romantic for you then pop off.
She's just your little cousin's friend, and Hyein would always talk your ears off about her, thats how you know, not because you were observing her of course. That would be, creepy.
The seemingly perfect couple was seen to be having an unusual couple quarrel. In public, house full of Hanjay's fans.
A smirk drifted onto your face, hand in your jacket pocket and another holding a soju bottle, you can't help but to watch in amusement.
Your face broke into a smile when you saw Hanni suddenly pushing past Jay, on her way to the entrance of one of your friend's house.
"Yn!" The said friend came out of nowhere placing his arm over your shoulder making you snap back into reality, back to the annoying party thrown by a rich highschool kid, that being Jake.
"Finish this for me will ya? Imma go out to have a smoke." You grinned at the blonde, pushing the bottle against his chest not giving him time to respond and make your way towards the entrance.
You frowned when you lost sight of the girl who pique your interest (you had been crushing on her since 9 grade). You take a few step, peeking here and there, trying to sight the girl. Squinting your eyes when you see a shadow a few feet from Jake's house.
"Fucking shit I swear if thats slenderman." You said aloud, tiptoeing to see better. A giggle came from the shadow makes you lose your cool.
Just because you act all tough doesn't mean you're not scare of creepypasta that Hyein used to scared you.
"Aye what the fuck?" You whispered, squinting trying to get a closer look.
"What are you doing here?" The shadow asked, it fake deepening voice.
"Uh, trying to find a child, about 5'2 she had long hair and bangs, have you seen her?" You restored, head tilted.
"Asshole! I'm 5'4!" Hanni broke her facade and marge at the taller, a cute unintentional pout on her face.
A smile broke onto your face upon seeing the girl that has been occupying your mind, living for free these days.
"Pews, I thought you had gotten kidnapped." You pretended to wipe your sweats on the side of your head making the shorter smack your arm.
You laughed, placing both of your arms back inside your jacket pocket, enjoying the annoyed look on the stuco's president face that soon turned into a smile.
Your breath hitched, seeing the way her cheeks pop up adorably makes you want to kiss her every time you spot it.
"What are you doing out here?" You asked, trying to be casual acting as if you weren't being noisy earlier at the party before grimace seeing the Pham trying to warm herself by rubbing her own arms. "and in the cold too?" You took off your jacket before throwing it at Hanni in the face for her to put it on.
"So romantic.." Hanni side eyed you before aggressively puts your jacket on not even offering it back like in those films.
You frowned, weren't she supposed to say something like, aren't you gonna be cold or something like that? You were right, those romantic films you had to endure for Jungwon were all wrong.
You got lost in your thought, not noticing the glares and side eye from Hanni, who had been hit in the face by your denim jacket.
"And.. i'm out in the damn cold because Jay refused to take me home.. saying he's having too much fun and that I need to take a stick out of my ass and let loose a little."
"Oh damn." You breathed out, god you don't like Jay at all, the perfect image, and he acts like a king doing whatever the hell he wants except when he's around you, he was tamed. He got ahold of this amazing girl and couldn't take care of her, what a prick. "Let's go on a walk."
The silent filled the comforting night, your legs carried you slowly, hands in your pant pocket trying to act cool as if you weren't bothered by the cold. You look at the girl whose head was tilted up preoccupied by the pretty constellations, and you thought, her eyes was as bright.
"Yn?" She softly called out, eyes still stuck on the beauty of the night.
"Hm?" You replied back as soft, eyes stuck on that beauty of hers.
The way she would try her best to act pissed whenever you teased her, the way her cheeks puffed out when she would pout, the way her voice would calm you down, the way she would side eyes you and look at you in disgust, you don't even mind, you treasured anything that was given to you if it was her.
"Yn? Are you okay?" She suddenly asked worriedly snapping you out of your thoughts.
You didn't reply, you stare at her dumbly, you couldn't hear or see shit other than the loud beating of your heart and the girl in front of you, you feel weak in the knees and your stomach . You don't know if it her or the ramen you've been consuming lately.
"Hanni.." You breathed out.
Hanni was slightly taken back at the way you intensely stares at her, she doesn't know wether to be scare or scare. She was lowkey scared. But the soft glint in your eyes quickly calmed her down, so does that soft deep tone of yours that reserved for her only, although she didn't know that.
She had always feel safe and comforted whenever you're around, the way you would put all your attention on her even when you're with your friends. The way you don't care about other people opinions on you, act as you want, and not cares what they would say, you didn't care, you were free. Hanni liked that about you, because she also felt free when she's with you.
Now thinking about it, Jay would pushes her aside and put his full attention on his friends, and he would walk her to class, and asking her on dates and never had a real conversation, he'd just take pictures and post them. Hanni was a trophy for Jay.
"Yeah?" She replied back, a soft frown on her face.
"Can I kiss you?"
She had been feeling things that she shouldn't feel for you for awhile, she would be lying to herself if she said she wasn't tempted, but she had a boyfriend.
"Yn..? You.. you know we can't." Hanni shook her head,
"I know you have a boyfriend and all but, I like you. I've always liked you, even way before you start dating that pretentious guy.. Fuck, I shouldn't have dump all of this on you." She felt a pang in her chest at the way you look down, your hand held your forehead, blaming yourself. "You.. ugh, you make me feel ways i've never even feel with my talking stages. And I know this is probably too late, and I should've kept this too myself-"
"Yn, are you drunk?" She asked, interrupting your rant, her hand went to cupped your cheeks to make you look directly down at her, and checking your cheeks for any tint of red.
"Huh? N-No." You babblers out, caught off guard.
"Kiss me."
Your eyes widened, air paused in your lung waiting for you to let them out, you scan her face to see if she was playing with you but you could see none on her face.
Seeing you taking too long Hanni pulls you by your sweater, making you launched forward, your lips meet hers, snapping out of shock, you slowly closed your eyes enjoying the way her soft plump lips move against yours, moving together like a puzzle and slowly but surely, you were addicted. You would give everything up just to feel her soft skin again. Her hands went to held yours, fingers intertwine. And when she went to pull away you chases after her, eyes stuck on her lips.
"Calm down." Hanni giggled breathlessly, trying to regain those oxygen you just took from her, her jaw almost dropped when she saw how dazed you looked.
When you saw the way Hanni is flushed red, trying to regain control of her breath, a small smirk grew on your face feeling satisfied and she just want to punch it off your face, or better yet, kiss it off.
"You better dump him, or Im dumping his body-"
"Oh my god!"
Tumblr media
-> Bonus
Hanni: "Yn, you aren't drunk why are your cheeks so red?"
Yn standing next to her stupidly with tomatoes cheeks: "We just kissed!"
Hanni cackle: "You like to act all cool and tough but you're just a simp!"
Hanni went to peck her cheeks: "My Simp."
Yn holding her cheeks trying to hide from short Han: "SHUSH!"

AYATO.
“Ah, so this is where you ran off to.”
You sighed. Dim lights filtered through the doorway as Ayato looked at your position on the floor with a smile.
“Nice place you’ve got,” he chuckled, closing the door slightly behind him and taking a seat next to you.
A sweet silence passed between you; muffled music from the gym and the cheering voices of students echoed through the hallway. You turned to gaze at him, resting a hand on your knee with your head leaning against the wall. It’s funny when you think about how much your tired eyes contrasted with his relaxed posture.
“Why'd you come looking for me?”
Ayato opened an eye, looking at you from the corner of it with a twitch of his lips before he said, “It's my duty as a part of the student council that everyone is enjoying themselves at these types of events. Even if it’s just a little bit.”
A stifled laugh turned  into a dry cough as you gave him a lazy smirk in return, amused by his words.
“Does that duty not stretch to you yourself? Weren’t you voted the king of the dance this year? It’s strange for you to not be interacting with your loving fans.”
“Who cares about them? They don’t know me.” He sighed and muttered under his breath, “Not like you do.”
“Even so, you’d usually go and talk about the benefits of the event with the rest of stuco,” you shrugged. “It’s your night, you should be having fun.” He turned to face you more, running a hand through his hair.
“Would you believe me if I said that this,” he waved a hand between the two of you, “was my idea of fun?”
“No, I would not believe that hiding in the janitor’s closet is your idea of ‘fun’.” You uncurled your legs from the way they were previously scrunched up. “Then again, you are weird so it wouldn’t surprise me if that were true.” It’s faint, almost lost to the noise from the gym, but you could hear how a chuckle bubbled out of his throat and made out the way his shoulders shook with the sound.
“Even if the person I were to be hiding with is my best friend?”
“Especially if that person is your best friend.”
You shifted in your spot, the formal wear you had on stiff and unwilling to let you sit comfortably.
“God, I hate wearing stuff like this,” you muttered, glaring at him when he laughed at your misfortune. “Shut up. Don’t act as if you’re any more comfortable than I am.”
“If it makes you feel better, aside from the whole uncomfortable part,” he said as he looked you up and down, eyes softened, “I think you look great.”
You chuckled weakly. With a sigh, you closed your eyes and rested your head on the wall of the cramped space again.
“I highly doubt I look as great as you’re saying right now.” You heard a faint scoff come from him.
“Nonsense. You look amazing as always.”
Ayato speaks of nonsense just as it builds up in his chest, There was a longing, a crave even, for him to clasp his hand overtop yours; he fiddled with the buttons on his coat instead.
“I see you every day yet I’ve never wanted to kiss you more than right now,” he blurted out with a hushed voice, startling even himself with what spilled from his lips. A moment’s pause passed as he took in what he just said, unaware of the heat that crawled up your neck. He casted a weary glance towards you.
“My apologies, Y/n. My outburst was uncalled for and I'm sorry if what I said made you uncomfortable.” He covered his face with one hand. “I understand if this changes things and I completely accept if you only see me as a friend or if you don’t want to be friends any-”
The ramble was snuffed out as he was suddenly met with your lips pressed against his. You pulled him by the collar, eyes closed as you hastily swept him into a brief kiss. Ayato sat there dazed as you moved away, eyes casted away from him.
He hesitated, movements slowed as he rested a hand on the back of your neck and rubbed small circles on your cheek with his thumb. He smiled, and dove back in; breath fanned across your skin as he devoured the dizzying feelings and melted into the contact. A small amount of satisfaction filled your chest when you parted again, smiling as a red hue decorated his face while his eyes looked at you so dearly.
“In all fairness,” You rubbed the back of your neck and muttered inaudible words before continuing, “I’ve been wanting to do that for a long time now, too.” You managed to whisper out, resting your forehead against his shoulder. A warmth covered your hands as you still gripped his collar with one, and raising your eyes you saw a kind smile sent your way.
“Kissing my childhood best friend in a janitor's closet, now that,” Ayato laughed, bold and bright, “that is more than enough fun.” Using the wall to brace himself, he gently raised you both off the ground.
“How would you like to go somewhere a little less cramped?”
“What are you, my prince charming?” You teased, hand held tightly in his and grinning bigger that the snort he let out,
“If anything, you’re the real saviour here. My ticket for leaving this event.” He bumped his shoulder against yours. “My precious knight in shining armour.” You lightly shoved him back.
“I love you,” you murmured, a dopey smile on your face. Ayato couldn’t tease you for it even if he wanted to because he probably looked the same, just as lovesick.
“I love you more.” It was softly said with such truth and sealed with a squeeze of his hand.

KAZUHA.
Soft chuckles could be heard through the library as the librarian sighed and sent a shush your way. Looking over his shoulder at the page, you couldn’t help but choke up on laughter as Kazuha recited the lines of poetry with a straight face. Tried too at least. Even as an admirer of poetry himself, romantic stanzas and free verses’ chalk full of metaphors about hearts fluttering like butterflies always sent chuckles the vibrated down his spine. Though he couldn’t deny how warm reading them out loud made him feel, imagining your wistful smile as he tells you his latest idea of love.
“That last poem reminds me of a book I've read before,” you mused, head tilted as you relaxed against the bookshelf. He sat down next to you with his lips curled into a grin.
“Oh really? What was it about?” You scratch the back of your neck, thinking for a moment.
“It was a classic teen romance novel. New kid in the school meets the main love interest, and the main love interest falls head over heels for the new kid.” You turned to face him. “The new kid plays hard to get but falls just as hard. Average love story.” You shrugged, a lopsided grin on your face. “Wasn’t my favourite read but definitely wasn’t the worst.”
“What's the title? I’d like to give it a try and see what all this fuss is about,” He asked, laughing at how you blinked blankly before shaking your head.
“I can't remember, sorry. It’s been a while since I’ve read it and besides, it really isn’t worth a whole reading session.” Kazuha cocked his head to the side, a curious glint in his eyes.
“And why not?”
“They kept dancing around each other a little too much for my liking. I mean, I love a good slow burn but damn.”
“I guess you aren’t the target audience then.”
You nodded your head and slumped against his shoulder, hair tickling the side of his neck.
“Definitely not,” you groaned. “Mainly because it reminds me of how lonely I am and how I won’t live out a romance like that.”
“What makes you say that?” Kazuha watched as your expression turned sour, lips pursed and brow furrowing slightly. His fingers twitched, wanting to cup your face and smother away that look to see you laugh and smile again.
“Romance in the middle of school seems…” you trailed off, an exasperated laugh breaking your sentence, “it looks hard. I don’t know how people do it. There’s already so much to do and a relationship on top of that.” You shook your head. “Full respect to students who can keep a healthy relationship going.”
He hummed to himself, taking in your words.
“That makes sense,” he mumbled and tried not to look so troubled by it. He sat up and you looked at him worriedly.
“Did I say something wrong? your tone is off,” you pointed out.
“No! I mean, no. Everything is fine. Don’t worry about it.” A bout of nervousness rushed through him as he coughed and smiled. He could tell you didn’t buy it; the sceptical look on your face said it all before you lunged at him, rolling you both onto the floor with you on top of him.
“Hey-” before he could even ask, he broke out in laughter as you began to dig fingers just below his ribs.
“W-wait!” He struggled to regain his bearings when you stopped, face flushed as he stared up at you. “What… what was that for?”
“I don't want to force you to tell me anything, but frowning doesn’t suit you.” you chuckled. Kazuha could help the small pout on his lips as he sat up onto his arms, slightly distracted with the way the light from the window hit your eyes.
“I love you so much,” he mumbled, shoulders shaking in both laughter and slight heartbreak, knowing that what you said earlier was right. “God, I wish I could kiss you.”
He stilled as your smile grew bigger; he hadn’t noticed the way your laughing had seized earlier or the hitch of your breath when he said those words.
“Say that again.” he gulped at the serious look on your face despite the grin you wore, heat creeping up his neck and ears turning pick as you moved closer.
“I wish I could kiss yo-”
His eyes widened as you connected your lips with his, a hand on his chin and noses nearly touching, before sinking into the feeling. It stirred up butterflies that darted around his chest, heart rapidly beating as you both pulled away. Kazuha raised a hand and hovered it over his mouth, as a new smile bloomed on his face. You found yourself joining in on his giggles again.
“What happened to not liking school romances?” He joked through the chuckles. His breath caught in his throat as you clutched his tie in your hand with a smirk.
“I think it’s going quite well right now but,” you leaned in closer, eyes trailing over his face, “I'll need to check again to make sure that’s not a fluke.”
He flushed under your stare.
“You remind me of a character from the book I was talking about earlier.”
“Oh? Which one?” He whispered. Your grin was dangerous.
“Definitely the new kid from that story.” You tugged him to look up. “Because i’ve been wanting this ever since we first started hanging out.”

CHAPTER ONE. THE ROUTE TO JUNGWON
Jungwon was an awkward guy.
Those who saw him from afar would think he was intimidating and unapproachable because of his serious demeanor, but that was the complete opposite of what he was like. He was often quiet and fumbled with his words a lot—especially around you. When you were near him, his heart raced above average, sweat droplets formed on his forehead, and he would often check his pulse to see if he was dying—or another way of saying this; he felt a random gush of adrenaline.
He was practically lovestruck. Lovestruck because of you and you only.
The gestures you gave him, the way you called his name, and your smile? It was all too much for him to handle.
Another problem Jungwon has was his constant overthinking. He overthinks about homework, grades, you, and your feelings for him. Let’s just say, he was sure that you didn’t like him back. And because of that, he decided to keep shut, put his ‘feelings’ aside, and never bring them up to you.
He constantly tries to hide his trembling voice, thumping heart, and reddening cheeks while acting cool, but his heart fails him every time. The words he wanted to say the most are, “I think I’m falling for you,” but he’ll never get there in this state.
“The conjugation of this verb results in,” Mrs. Lee said, but it all sounded like mumbles to Jungwon who was busy writing in his notebook. His head rested in his palm while his other hand wrote and scribbled on the page. It read, ‘Y/n to Jungwon?’ With stick figures that represented the two and a wavy line to represent the route.
“Hey, Jungwon.” A voice whispered from beside him. “Jungwon,” it said again as he looked up from his notebook. “Are you okay?” they asked with worried eyes. He was doing fine until you questioned him.
“I’m… I’m fine, yeah. Why do you... Ask?” He responded a little nervous. There was nothing to be nervous about but the effect you had on him made matters worse. You laughed at his nervous state, teasingly. “Why are you so nervous? I only asked if you were okay.” You questioned as Jungwon averted his eyes from yours.
Another thing Jungwon can’t do is hold eye contact with people, mainly you. It puts him under so much pressure and felt overwhelming, it’s almost impossible for him to continue what he was doing before.
“I’m fine, so, there’s nothing to worry about.” He reassured you as you nodded at his words. “Jungwon and Y/n, want to explain what’s so important to talk about during this lesson?” Mrs. Lee asks while writing on the board.
“Ah, sor–” Jungwon stopped after being interrupted by your voice.
“It’s my fault, Mrs. Lee. I was just asking him for a pencil to write notes on! I couldn’t find mine‌,” you explained while reaching for the pencil on Jungwon’s notebook. He stared at you as Mrs. Lee nodded, understandingly. You flashed him a smile and he swore he was going to faint on the spot. He looked away to find another pencil in his backpack.
While doing so, he saw the doodle on his notebook from earlier. Panicking, he flipped the page violently as you glanced at him from the corner of your eye while everyone turned to look at him. He lowered his head in embarrassment while mumbling a sorry to those around him as they turned back around to continue with what they were doing.
“You must’ve seen the doodle,” was all that played in his mind for the rest of the class.
CHAPTER TWO. STUCO PRES NEEDS A REST
Student council was Jungwon’s favorite place to be. It was fun to hang out with the club members and plan the school’s future. Only problem was, youre in it and he cannot keep a straight face when you’re always sitting beside him.
It's a huge problem. How was he supposed to be serious if you’re the one thing that can break him?
“Class comps?” Harua suggested as Jungwon looked up from the sheets in front of him, looking at Harua. “That could work–” Jungwon hiccuped as your shoulder rubbed against his. “Oh, my bad.” You apologized as he looked at you, surprised. “That… It works.” He agreed as Harua nodded, writing into his planner.
“Any—” Jungwon's voice cracked. He cleared his throat out of embarrassment. “Any other suggestions?” He questioned while trying to keep his composure. “Well, there are school dances,” Kazuha said, eyes lighting up right after. “Oh! What about a school dance with a certain theme?” She snapped her fingers, pointing directly at Jungwon. “That’s not all bad.” You’d say as Kazuha smiled, giving herself an invisible pat on the back.
“It works! Valentine is next month, but who said we had to do it in February?” Yihyun exclaimed while grasping both of her hands together. You’d smile at her action then look over at Jungwon. “What do you think? Is it a good idea?” He shifted in his seat, nodding. “…It’s good. Harua, make a note of it.” Harua smiled as he wrote it down.
“Alright! Are we settling on that as the next event?” You asked while twirling your pen between your fingers. Seeing nobody suggest any other ideas satisfied you. Randomly, the whole table began to shake. At first, you all thought it was an earthquake, looking at each other with panicked eyes—but if you call Jungwon an earthquake, then I guess you’re right.
“Jungwon?” Yihyun called out to the boy who sat stiffly. Sweat droplets trickled down his forehead, the red from his ears moved to his face, and his foot frequently tapped against the floor. You were so close to him right now. If he did one wrong move, your shoulders would rub against each other again.
“Jungwon,” You called from beside him, leaning in a bit closer. “Jungw—”
“Ye-Yes! That’s a great idea,” He exclaimed, catching all of you off guard. “That’s not what we’re talking about now..” You’d say but he didn’t care. Please just move away from him or he will for sure fall apart.
“Ah, r..really? Then… Uh,” He stuttered out of embarrassment. “You’re turning really red, are you sure you’re fine?” Kazuha questioned as he looked over at her. “What?! I’m fine, don’t worry. It’s just a little hot in here.” He said, fanning himself with his hand. “It’s not even hot..?” Harua looked at Jungwon in confusion. He slowly dropped his hand from his face as he looked around for another excuse.
“Let’s just… Let’s wrap things up today!” He smiled while quickly packing up his notebooks. Everyone looked at each other in confusion but quickly followed through with the cleanup.
“See you guys next meeting!” Jungwon rushed out of the door with nothing left to say. “He’s been acting a little weird lately, don’t you think?” You asked as the others nodded. “Maybe he’s going through it? I don’t know, it’s Jungwon. He’s unpredictable.” Harua said with a shrug as Yihyun covered her mouth while letting out a small laugh.
CHAPTER THREE. JUNGWON, GET IT TOGETHER.
“When are you going to tell Y/n?” Jay questioned while spooning a spoonful of rice. “Ugh, don’t even remind me of it.” Jungwon replied with a groan while picking at his food. “Well, is it anytime soon?” Jay asked again, eating the spoonful of rice.
“Ah, I don’t know, I don't know.” Jungwon waved his hand in front of Jay who looked confused. “Jungwon, hiding your feelings won’t help you get over them even if you think they don’t like you back.” Jay scolded. “It’s not gonna make any difference. Have you seen how you act near them?” Jay scoffed as Jungwon looked at him while slowly chewing his food.
Footsteps approached him from behind as Jay looked up to stare at the figure. “What?” Jungwon questioned Jay's widening eyes while taking in a deep breath. His eyebrows raised at a familiar scent. Turning around, he’s met with your eyes. “Oh! How long were you there for?” He exclaimed out of shock.
“Not long, but I just wanted to ask when the next meeting is. You sorta rushed out of the club room the other day without telling us..” You shifted the weight on your feet as you’d wait for an answer. “Oh yeah.” He averted his eyes to the floor at the realization.
“Uh, can we make it Thursday at lunch ? If that works for you! Of course.” He blurted, looking at you again. You’d let out a small laugh while Jungwon’s ears started to turn red as Jay facepalmed in embarrassment. “That’s fine with me, I’ll inform the rest of the members!” You smiled, waving goodbye to Jungwon who does the same.
“You’re helpless,” Jay sighed, continuing to eat his lunch. Jungwon rolled his eyes at his words, “Whatever.” He scoffed, digging into his lunch tray with a smile.
CHAPTER FOUR. DID I REALLY JUST SAY THAT?!
Today was not a good day for Jungwon. All his assignments were due as well as the Geography test he had today and it’s too overwhelming for him. Not to mention the student council meeting as well. He just wants to go home and sleep. Catch up on all the sleep that he missed from last night which was full of homework and study sessions.
Student council, English, Science, Geography.. Math. It all sucked. Usually, he felt calm when he caught sight of you but not today—he doesn’t see you until the afternoon and he was sure he wouldn’t last. The weird stares he got from students as he walked down the hallway explained everything.
“Jungwon?” A cautious voice spoke from behind. Footsteps followed him while his shoes dragged against the floor. “Jungwon, you good bud?” It spoke again. Jungwon flinched at the tap on his shoulder as he turned around hastily. “Woah, what happened to your face?!” Jay exclaimed as he examined the dark circles and Jungwon’s drooping eyes. It was so unlike him.
“Oh, hey,” Jungwon said dryly. “We have Math first today, right?” He questioned, ignoring Jay’s question from earlier. “Are you sure you’re okay?” He questioned again as they walked alongside each other. “I’m fine,” he stared at the end of the hallway blankly. “You don’t look like it. What happened?” Jay asked with some concern in his tone.
“School is so tiring, I hate it. I have three assignments due today, including a Geography test, and I had to stay up to finish the assignments and study for the test. Let’s just say, I only slept for an hour.” He ranted as Jay listened.
“And there’s a student council meeting today, I regret scheduling it today.” He sighs as they both enter the classroom. “Ah, well... I’m not sure what I can do to help you. Just tell me if you need anything, alright?” Jay reassured, patting Jungwon on the back as he walked to his seat.
He was thankful to have a friend like Jay. He was always by his side, comforting him whenever he needed it. Jungwon smiled to himself as he took his seat while everyone waited for their teacher.
. . .
The bell went, signaling that it was finally lunch. Jungwon was glad to be out of Geography class. But that didn’t mean he had a break since there was still the student council meeting to go to. Yes, it was tiresome but the thought brought a smile to Jungwon’s face. He finally got to see you after waiting forever.
“Life just gets better,” he said with a smile, entering the club room. The silence was drowned out by the rain from outside as he stared at the empty space. Was he that early? He must’ve lost track of time which wasn’t normal of him.
Ding!
His phone went off, catching him off guard. He reached into his pocket to see what the sound was, but maybe he shouldn’t have. There were two new assignments from Geography for their new unit, both due tonight.
Forget what he said about life getting better.
He'd let out a frustrated sigh while heading to an empty seat at the table in front of him. Maybe it would be best to start the homework now instead of letting it pile up. He’d start the assigned work, timing himself with his phone as he waited for the other members.
About ten minutes passed by before Jungwon started to stress about the assignments. Nothing made sense to him and it only made him more frustrated. Not to mention that you kept flooding his mind as well. It still bothered him; did you like him or did you not? If you didn’t, why do you keep leading him on?
His thoughts kept going on and on to the point where the sound of the door opening was silent. “Jungwon, why were you here so early? There’s fifteen minutes before the meeting.” You said, heading his way. “Are you alright?” You questioned his still state as he looked at you. “I’m fine,” he responds.
That must’ve been his favorite phrase to say because he’s been saying it a lot lately, more than usual.
“What’s on your mind?” “You,” Jungwon confessed without hesitation.
You were taken aback by his words as both of your eyes widened. “Did I really just say that?!” He exclaims in disbelief while covering his mouth with his hand. “Forget what I said just now, it doesn’t mean anything—”
“What do you mean?” You questioned with blown eyes as you felt the butterflies in your stomach double. You already had a few just from seeing him when you first walked in. “Just… Just forget I said that.” He said, looking back at his laptop to continue his homework.
He panicked. He didn’t mean to let that out, it was only a thought. Now, look where he’s at now. An accidental confession was definitely not what he had imagined his first love confession to be—especially not towards you.
“Jungwon,” you called out his name with sincerity, causing chills to go down his back. He looked at you as you looked down at him with a look he’s never seen before, and knowing him, he’s not really good with reading facial expressions either.
Did he just ruin your friendship with each other? That’s the reason why he didn’t want to confess in the first place.
“If that was a confession just now... I want to say that I also have feelings for you. Not friendly feelings but romantic feelings.” Your heart was thumping really fast to the point where you could hear it in your ears. It was shocking that he couldn’t hear it himself.
“Yeah, I’m sorry—Wait what?!” He exclaims out of shock, now facing you. “What?” You questioned as you slowly started to regret your confession. Did you misinterpret what he said? “You like me…too?” He questioned while pointing at himself as relief flowed through his body.
“Yeah, for quite a while now. I never thought of confessing because it didn’t really seem like you returned my feelings.” You admitted as he scoffed. “Really? I was so obvious about it! Did you not see how different I was whenever you were around me?” He questioned while you shook your head.
“But you’re like that around everyone, no? Whenever I was with you or near you, you always acted like that. I even thought you liked Yihyun!” You exclaimed as he stared at you in confusion. “You do know, all of those times I've acted like that, you were with me right?” He questioned while realization hit you.
Awkward silence went by for a few moments as you two avoided eye contact with each other, still trying to take in what’s going on.
“So.. What are we now?” He asks while looking around awkwardly. “Um, I’m not sure..” You responded.
A few seconds of silence went by with Jungwon looking at you as if he had something he wanted to say. After mustering up the courage, he decided he was ready.
“Do you.. Do you want to, you know..” He hesitated as you smiled at him. “Date?” You’d finish his sentence as his face flushed red.
He nodded at your words as you took a seat beside him. The two of you smiled to yourselves like dorks in love. After realizing what you were doing, you cleared your throat, facing Jungwon again. “Okay, enough of that. What were you really stressing over before?” You asked, changing the topic. He looked at you with an innocent expression as he ranted about his struggles and worries while you listened.
What a dream come true for Jungwon and you! Although he still had a bunch of homework to finish and classes to attend, it was all good now because the main goal was success.

amidst the celebration, y/n's eyes shone with a mixture of exhilaration and relief. she reached for her flask, taking a refreshing sip of water to quench her thirst after the intense match. her muscles hummed with fatigue, yet she reveled in the satisfaction of a hard-fought victory. the post-game euphoria washed over her, filling her heart with pride and a sense of accomplishment.
as y/n began to make her way out of the gymnasium, her gaze fell upon minji, who was engrossed in a stack of paperwork related to her student council responsibilities. despite the clamor around them, y/n couldn't help but feel a magnetic pull towards minji. with a hint of breathlessness in her voice, she called out, "minji!"
turning towards the sound of her name, minji's eyes met y/n's, and a smile effortlessly adorned her lips. she paused in her steps, greeting y/n with a warm expression. the sight of her girlfriend, looking slightly winded but brimming with excitement, made minji's heart skip a beat.
"did you see the match?" y/n inquired with a charming grin, her eyes sparkling with excitement like stars in the night sky. with an air of playfulness, she flexed her well-toned muscles, basking in the afterglow of her team's victorious triumph. "of course, who else but kim minji's extraordinary girlfriend did the final blow and secured our win?"
minji's laughter resonated like a soft, melodious harmony, filling the air with warmth and affection. she gently shook her head, her eyes alight with adoration. "i'm afraid i didn't get to witness it firsthand. my duties as the student council president demanded my attention," she explained, her voice carrying a touch of regret.
y/n's playful pout emerged, a cute pucker of her lips betraying her feigned disappointment. "aw, you missed my epic moves. it was an unforgettable spectacle!" she exclaimed, her eyes shimmering with pride like diamonds catching the sun's rays.
minji's gaze softened with genuine admiration, and she reached out to tenderly brush a stray strand of hair away from y/n's face, her touch as gentle as the caress of a gentle breeze. "i'm sure it was. but even without witnessing it, i'm incredibly proud of you, y/n," she expressed warmly, her words a soothing balm to y/n's soul.
the genuine pride in minji's voice sent a surge of warmth through y/n's heart, making it flutter like a hummingbird's wings. she felt a profound sense of gratitude for having minji by her side, not just as a girlfriend but as a pillar of support in every aspect of her life. minji's unwavering belief in her abilities fueled her spirit and gave her the courage to face any challenge that lay ahead.
"you are?" y/n's face lit up like a golden retriever receiving a pat on the head, her eyes seeking confirmation of her worth from minji's affectionate gaze, "even though you didn't see it?"
minji's tender touch lingered on y/n's cheek, her fingers tracing the contours of her face with a gentleness that spoke volumes of her love and admiration for the girl in her embrace. "absolutely. kim minji's girlfriend is the pride of the volleyball team, isn't she?" minji affirmed with unwavering affection, her voice as soothing as a lullaby.
feeling a rush of emotion, y/n found herself instinctively wrapping her arms around minji, pulling her close in a warm embrace. the comfort of minji's presence enveloped her like a soft, cozy blanket on a chilly day, and her heart overflowed with love like a river bursting its banks. in a soft, sincere whisper, she expressed her gratitude, "thank you, minji. you're the best."
minji's smile held a special tenderness as she embraced y/n in return, savoring the warmth of the moment like a sunflower turning towards the sun. "yeah, yeah," she playfully teased, "now, enough about the match. where are you off to?"
y/n's face lit up with mischief as she intertwined her fingers with minji's, their hands fitting together like pieces of a puzzle, each completing the other. "well, as your loving girlfriend, it's my duty to accompany you wherever you're going," she declared with a twinkle in her eye, her voice a symphony of playfulness and devotion.
minji chuckled softly, utterly charmed by y/n's playful spirit like a butterfly drawn to a vibrant flower. "is that so? well then, i'm taking this paperwork to the faculty," she replied, her voice holding both determination and a hint of amusement, like a violin playing a lively tune.
with a playful grin that could rival the sun's radiance, y/n nodded with unwavering enthusiasm, fully committed to her role as minji's partner-in-crime. side by side, they strolled down the bustling corridor, the sounds of the school life fading into the background as they engaged in lighthearted banter and shared laughter, their laughter intertwining like the harmonious notes of a sweet melody.
as y/n and minji walked hand in hand towards the faculty, the school's buzzing atmosphere seemed to amplify. congratulations and greetings poured in from students passing by, each one eager to celebrate y/n's victory and bask in her radiant presence. while y/n gracefully acknowledged the well-wishers with a smile and a word of thanks, minji couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy gnawing at her heart. she knew y/n's popularity was well-deserved, but she couldn't help but wish for a little more private time with her girlfriend.
arriving at the door of the faculty office, y/n and minji found themselves in a quiet hallway adorned with colorful student artwork and motivational posters. the soft hum of chatter and distant footsteps created a sense of tranquility, a brief respite from the lively energy that usually surrounded y/n. as y/n turned to minji with a warm smile, her eyes shimmered with a deep affection that conveyed more than words ever could.
"i'll wait for you here," y/n said with a tender smile, her voice carrying a gentle undertone of consideration for minji's responsibilities. y/n wanted to offer minji the space she needed to complete her duties as the student council president, understanding how important her role was. however, minji, ever mindful of y/n's desires, had a suggestion of her own.
"you can go ahead to the cafeteria, y/n. i'll catch up with you shortly," minji proposed, her voice warm and reassuring. she knew that y/n loved spending time in the bustling cafeteria, indulging in the diverse array of culinary delights the school had to offer.
despite her desire to spend every moment with minji, y/n's thoughtful nature won over, and she replied, "no, i want to wait for you. it's not a problem, really." a playful smirk graced her lips, "plus, i could use a little break from all the attention. it's really making me nervous..."
minji's heart swelled with adoration for her considerate girlfriend. y/n's selflessness and willingness to prioritize their time together touched her deeply. the way y/n's eyes softened as she spoke, revealing vulnerability beneath her charismatic exterior, made minji's heart flutter with affection.
minji couldn't help but chuckle at y/n's lighthearted remark, finding solace in the familiar banter they shared. she felt a wave of love wash over her, knowing she had someone so caring and understanding by her side. "alright," minji agreed, her voice filled with adoration, "if you want to wait, then i won't take long. i promise."
in that moment, y/n's heart fluttered at the sound of minji's promise. she cherished these moments of intimacy, where they could be honest and vulnerable with each other. y/n squeezed minji's hand, before letting go slowly. as minji entered the faculty office, y/n leaned against the wall, feeling a mixture of butterflies on her stomach and fatigue from the mmatch
y/n exchanged a few more greetings with passing students, who congratulated her on the match, their admiration evident in their expressions. the glow of victory still illuminated her features, making her even more captivating in the eyes of her fans. each word of praise only added to the aura of charm that surrounded her. y/n graciously thanked them, but inwardly, she couldn't help feeling slightly overwhelmed by the attention.
as she waited, a group of enthusiastic freshmen spotted y/n from afar, their eyes widening with awe and excitement. they couldn't believe their luck at encountering the school's renowned volleyball captain up close. excitement bubbled within them, and their anticipation heightened as they approached her with eager smiles.
"oh my gosh, it's y/n l/n! you were incredible out there on the court!" one of the freshmen gushed, her voice tinged with admiration.
another chimed in, "yeah, we were cheering for you the whole time! you're so handsome when you play!"
y/n couldn't help but chuckle at the freshmen's endearing enthusiasm. she was flattered by their compliments and appreciated their genuine excitement. "thank you so much! i'm glad you enjoyed the match," she replied with a warm smile, her humility endearing her even more to the star-struck group.
the freshmen eagerly shared their favorite moments from the game, recounting how y/n's grace and skill had left them in awe. they animatedly discussed her powerful spikes, precise serves, and agile moves on the court. y/n listened attentively, their admiration and enthusiasm fueling her own sense of pride in her athletic achievements.
as the conversation continued, y/n couldn't help but inch back against the wall slightly, the crowd of excited freshmen unintentionally crowding her. while she cherished her fans and their adoration, she also longed for a moment of tranquility, a brief respite from the spotlight. however, her kindness and approachability didn't waver, and she continued to engage in conversation with the freshmen, ensuring each of them felt seen and appreciated.
in the midst of their lively chatter, y/n's thoughts drifted to minji, who was still attending to her student council duties. she yearned for the moment when she could reunite with her girlfriend, seeking solace in minji's calming presence. y/n loved her fans, but minji's love and understanding were what truly grounded her in the whirlwind of popularity.
as the group of enthusiastic freshmen continued to shower y/n with praise, their words became a delightful chorus of admiration.
"seriously, y/n, you're like the epitome of cool! your moves on the court were insane!" one of them exclaimed with wide eyes.
another chimed in, "i wish i could play like you! you make it look so effortless and elegant!"
y/n blushed, humbled by their compliments. "well, uh, thank you all so much! i've practiced a lot to get where i am, but it warms my heart to hear that you enjoy watching me play."
"enjoy? we were practically screaming our lungs out with excitement!" another freshman gushed, her excitement infectious.
"seriously, y/n, you're like a volleyball wizard or something! the way you control the game is unreal," one of the freshmen said in awe.
"yeah, and let's not forget how handsome you are! you've got all the girls swooning!" another added, giggling playfully.
y/n couldn't help but laugh along with them. "well, i'm flattered, really. but it's not all about looks; it's the passion for the game and the teamwork that matter most to me."
"passion and looks! you've got the whole package, y/n!" a freshman said with a grin, and the others nodded enthusiastically in agreement.
"can we take a picture with you? i want to show my friends back home that i met the volleyball superstar!" one of the freshmen asked excitedly.
"of course! i'd be happy to take a photo with you all," y/n replied with a warm smile, gathering the eager group for a group selfie. they huddled together, capturing the moment that would undoubtedly become a treasured memory for the freshmen.
as the group of freshmen finally got their picture with y/n, they continued to gush with excitement, their voices bordering on exuberance. they couldn't resist expressing their awe over y/n's looks and skills, each compliment seemingly louder than the last.
amidst the flurry of praise, minji emerged from the faculty office, drawn by the familiar commotion. her heart clenched with a tinge of jealousy as she saw the freshmen almost yelling their adoration at y/n's face.
suppressing the emotion, she approached them, gently taking y/n's arm and interjecting with a warm smile, "hey, guys, y/n is truly amazing, isn't she? but she needs a moment now, so why don't we give her some space?" minji tries her best to speak in the most calm voice, though her eyes were almost like daggers.
the freshmen, taken aback by minji's unexpected appearance, quickly complied, nodding eagerly. they understood the unspoken message that y/n was someone special to minji, and they respected that boundary.
minji led y/n away from the enthusiastic crowd, her fingers intertwining possessively with y/n's. as they walked, her touch conveyed both protectiveness and affection. the moment they were out of earshot, minji mumbled sarcastically, "they really adore you, don't they?"
y/n's laughter filled the air, a charming and infectious sound that warmed minji's heart. "yeah, they do," y/n admitted with a playful grin, her eyes dancing with amusement, "but don't worry, minji. you're the one who has my heart."
minji's cheeks flushed with a mix of bashfulness and delight, her heart fluttering at y/n's sweet words. "good to know," she replied with a soft chuckle, "i just can't help feeling a little possessive when everyone is fawning over you."
with a teasing glint in her eyes, y/n wrapped an arm around minji's shoulders, pulling her close. "jealous, huh? well, i can't blame them. you're dating the coolest and most handsome volleyball superstar," she teased playfully.
a playful groan escaped minji's lips, but her eyes twinkled with adoration. "but, even better! i'm dating the one and only kim minji, the student council president? the debate club and animal rights club member? the most prettiest and smartest minji in south korea?" y/n's words filled the air with charm and admiration, making minji's heart soar.
minji rolled her eyes playfully, savoring the affectionate banter. "you're incorrigible, y/n," she said, shaking her head with mock disapproval, a fond smile lingering on her lips.
"incorrigible? who the fuck even uses that word?" y/n laughed, the sound like music to minji's ears. she wrapped an arm around minji's waist, pulling her even closer. "but you love me anyway, right?" y/n asked, nuzzling minji's cheek affectionately.
minji pretended to ponder for a moment, before finally giving in with a dramatic sigh.
"unfortunately, yes," minji sighs, before pecking y/n's cheek. "yes, i do."

y/n's perspective
Declis Academy, Riverfield Academy, IST Korea Academy, and Bright Sun Academy were being integrated…
Declis was known for primarily being a vampire school. Riverfield is a hybrid school that contains half-human creatures like dragons, animal hybrids, and werewolves. IST Korea Academy is a school mainly for humans. While Bright Sun Academy is for anything magic.
Fairies, Witches, Sirens, etc…
Many people were scared but also open-minded… I was open-minded until…
“So stay away from me and my friends,” he said as he walked away.
Tumblr media
“What do you mean you got rejected?” Wonyoung asked with disgust written in her face. “AND BY A VAMPIRE!” Eunchae yelled
“It doesn’t matter,” I said as I ate the ice cream my roommates offered me. I looked pathetic… crying over a man… my soulmate.
Someone made for me… not even my soulmate wanted me? “Come on… our witch student council president shouldn’t be wallowing!” Wonyoung said and I nodded. “She’s right! Tomorrow classes start and so does council” Eunchae said as I was about to eat more ice cream but was soon taken away
“Hey!” I yelled as they sighed. “Look… his loss. You’re amazing, smart, and pretty. So stop being depressed” Eunchae said and I nodded. “You’re right!” I said and they nodded.
The whole night was spent with movies and snacks.
Of course, we fell asleep only to be rushed since me and Wonyoung had a student council meeting in the morning.
Tumblr media
“OK, the room is done! Now we wait for them” Wonyoung said as the meeting room was clean and ready for the academy
“Hello” I heard as I saw two people come in. “I’m EJ and this is K. Were from the Riverfield student council” EJ said and I bowed while Wonyoung looked at them judgingly…
“This is a nice room for the student council, a lot better than our school,” K said as I smiled at his attempt to lighten the mood.
“You don’t mind the integration do you?” EJ asked and I shook my head. “As stuco president I want to help. So I really don’t mind the integration” I said and they nodded relaxingly.
“Oh, Hello” I heard as I noticed they were humans. “I’m Sangyeon, this is Juyeon. We’re from IST Korea Academy '' he said and before we could introduce ourselves two more boys walked in and I felt my mood completely diminish.
“Ah, hello! I'm Jungwon, and this is Heeseung” the vampires from Decelis said… how unlucky my soulmate who rejected me… Heeseung.
“We need to discuss how we’ll all work. And which rooms we’ll be in. I was told that there are only two student council rooms' ' EJ said and I nodded.
“Oh… I was hoping that I could be in the room with you y/n? It’s just I haven’t been on the student council that long” Sangyeon explained and I nodded but I noticed EJ and K’s discomfort.
“That’ll leave with Decelis and Riverfield… I know the schools were rivals” I said and EJ smiled awkwardly.
“Sangyeon, would you mind sharing with Declis Academy?” I asked and he looked hesitant. “You can still come to me or Wonyoung for help” I tried suggesting and he nodded.
“Sure,” Juyeon answered for the two.
“Ok, before we all go to class. The headmaster wanted to know about announcements and activities the schools will be planning” I said and they all nodded.
“I’m in charge of event planning and announcements. We do a written agenda given out every month to the dorms for events. I will also announce them and explain in further detail” Wonyoung said and they nodded.
“I think Maki would have a better explanation.” EJ said as he wrote down on the board Maki his event planner.
“Oh! Jacob and Kevin are in charge of event planning but Chanhee would write scripts for the announcements while Younghoon would actually announce the school’s activities” Sangyeon explained as he wrote it down.
“Sunghoon would do our announcements and Sunoo and Niki in charge of event planning” Jungwon said and I nodded.
“Ok then…Wonyoung will discuss that with the members you’ve mentioned. EJ and K we’ll be here in the seventh period until the afternoon so I can explain how we’ll share the room. Sangyeon and Juyeon, you can ask me for help anytime. You can just talk to me when you see me. I look forward to working with everyone” I said but in reality, I felt nervous having to work with Jungwon’s vice president.
“Otherwise me and Wonyoung have first period” I said and everyone nodded as they went to orientation.
I was packing when I felt a hand on my shoulder sending me sparks… I turned around to see Jungwon look at me in shock.
“I… you’re my soulmate?” he asked and I sighed. “We have to be civil with each other… So whatever rejects me, I accept your rejection.” I said as I grabbed my bag but as I was leaving the room he appeared in front of me rather quickly.
“Why are you rejecting me?!” He said and I scoffed.
 “Ask your student council president”

jungwon's perspective
“I met our soulmate today,” I said finally, waiting to confront Heeseung about it in front of everyone. He looked at me almost as if he wanted me…
I knew he was in love with Sooha… so was Sunghoon, Jake, and Jay
“OUR SOULMATE?!” Sunoo said excitedly and I laughed. “But she rejected me or kinda did” I said and Niki and Sunoo were the only ones to react…
“She said to ask you Hesseung” I said and he scoffed. “How can I love her when I love Sooha?” He asked and I scoffed. “She isn’t out soulmate… and she is literally meant—“
“Hey guys!” I heard as I saw the girl of the hour… Sooha was a sweet girl. But to reject our soulmate for her was out of the question.
They started talking to her normally and whipped for her. Niki and Sunoo kept looking at me expecting me to continue talking but I didn't…
I soon see y/n walk in with EJ…
“Huh? Jungwon, where are you going?” Sooha asked me and I shook my head. “I have something to do,” I said as I felt the boys stare at me.
“Y/n!” I said and she looked at me clearly annoyed. “Jungwon I’m busy I’m discussing with EJ about the council room” she explained as the werewolf stared at me questioning my intentions…
“I wanted to introduce you to Niki and Sunoo… Sunghoon is a little occupied and actually shy.” I said, making an excuse as she looked around. “Have they met Wonyoung yet?” she asked and I shook my head. “I think she’s a bit scary,” I said and she laughed…
“He’s right… Wonyoung is intimidating” EJ agreed.
“Sure, EJ i'll meet you in the council room seven period?” she asked and he nodded as he went to get food from the cafeteria.
“Have you eaten?” I asked and she scoffed. “Don’t act like your my boyfriend” she said and I smiled. “Well, my love I don’t agree with your rejection,” I said and her eyes softened for only a second.
“You called?” I heard as I saw Sunoo and Niki behind me… “I’m Sunoo! I’m… was? Well I'm the event planner under Won’s council” he said and she nodded. “I help him with event planning in sports and field days' ' Niki said and she nodded as she also bowed.
“Nice to meet you both,” she said with a smile. She was treating them differently cause she didn’t know they were her soulmates either…
“Ooh! You guys made a new friend and it's not even the end of the day!” I heard and I felt just a little annoyed. “I’m Sooha!” she said and y/n smiled. “Well, it's nice to meet you all. Sunoo and Niki, I hope you get along with Wonyoung. Just a bit of advice when you meet her: bring in some of the cafe’s coffee and pastries. Just do everything she asks and she’ll like the both of you.” she said and they laughed.
“And if we don’t?” Sunoo said teasingly and she sighed. “She’ll turn you into a bat,” she said and Sunoo’s eyes widened.
“I’ll get going now I need to do some work,” she said as she went to the cafeteria food. I was gonna follow her when I felt Sooha’s arm link with mine excitedly. “I wanna be her friend!” she said with a huge smile and I sighed.
“Sooha don’t talk to her,” Heeseung said and I scoffed. “Huh? She seems so nice though… and she’s friends with EJ!” she said and I rolled my eyes. Those Riverfield wolves are already involved?
With our group being cut in half in favor of y/n and Sooha, this would be a long year.
