I feel like I need to write a novel on all the things happening but for now, I’m listening to the siren’s call for stillness. The semester closed and A’s and B’s it was, I have two classes before I graduate which is wigging me out. I opted to take a third for the sake of financial aid but have considered dropping it since the costs are startling. I will have to submit myself to a payment plan but I won’t let that deter me or stifle the joy of finishing.

This month is getting quiet after the boom of births and I had one unpleasant encounter with a family but I’ve told myself it’s a learning curve. I won’t be the person for everyone and that’s OK. What I am proud of is how well I’ve held my boundaries this year and how kind I’ve been while doing so.

I feel so tired from the last few weeks and the closing of finals, that I haven’t gone to ballet or French but I did stick to ceramics (I have not missed a class ALL intensive long and I’m so proud of that).

Today I spent the day slowly, I mustered up the energy to go to a teeth cleaning (hooray!) and then spent the afternoon sipping tea at Alice’s Tea Cup and reading.

I’m just grateful. I’m so grateful sometimes I could burst into tears but lately I’ve been reminding myself that all the goodness is here and I’m allowed to soak it in.

can't decide if I want to be a gynecologist or if I want to marry one

#If I marry one we can open a practice together and she can oversee cesarean sections #and that guarantees I can prescribe medicine in any US state without needing to get approval from a man nor from any physician #Whom I have no way of vetting the level of work they've done to unlearn a male medical bias or to be pro woman in their practice #And /I/ don't have to go to med school and learn science that is primarily based around the male body for 5 years #despite my goal profession(s) being centered entirely around female health & biology. And /i/ don't have to pay for med school #but on the other hand. I COULD become a gynecologist and then #I could do exactly the same job I want to do as a nurse + I am a fucking Doctor + a woman in STEM + I get the same benefit of being able #to write prescriptions as I would if I married an OB/gyn and there's no barriers depending on the state I work in #+ I can perform cesarean sections and I don't have to leave my patients safety in the hands of the nearest hospital surgeon #In the event of an EMERGENCY. like if you want something done right you gotta do it yourself and all that #and also I make hella bank as a doctor like I make some hardcore moolah #Money is a good idea most of the time in my opinion #But at the same time like. Do /I/ wanna be in charge of cutting a woman open? Uhhhhhhhh #I mean. I smoke weed yall. and I watch children cartoons all day. And I'm like a b average student #Can /I/ really be trusted to cut a child out of a woman with no casualties?? Like idfk tbh. TBH #I don't know if I have it in me. Like idk #I know no healthcare job is okay to be mediocre at. I feel like I could excel at being a midwife but totally unconfident about being #a doctor. I don't think that adds up like that doesn't make sense but idk if it means I should rethink being a doctor or being a nurse

the manchester jewish museum is so cool btw i know i said before when i went but it's still pretty new and no one knows about her pleaaase go if youre in the area they just started doing concerts and performances in the synagogue building and they have like a songwriting club and a crafts club etc... society if the transpennine route was functional

We are patiently awaiting arrival of baby M, walking, foraging and bird watching, it’s in my nature to propel forward (NYC has engrained something horrific in me).

And remembering to slow down is the greatest gift this season has brought. I hike, I run, but I also pray and observe. E, holds the steadiness and patience of a reincarnated angel. I wonder how many lifetimes it takes to craft a spirit of gentleness in moments of unknown. Once baby arrives I may only have a few days left before hugging them all goodbye, the thought makes my heart thump in a heavy way but I’ve told myself it’s temporary.

I made bone broth, called the resources to find a postpartum doula to come once I depart and I keep praying my hands remember the skills they hold. I was in meditation yesterday and felt the oddest surge, and I know early labor is nearing. It always brings the same hum, the quiet transition as two worlds start to unfold preparing to merge.

Today I might sit in the sun, the days have tainted my lips deep red and my skin a golden copper, I don’t mind. I think I look more like my grandmother. I saw a wild fox, some horses and a eagles on my last hike. So this time I’m packing a few more snacks and sitting, I (embarrassingly) took my iPad last time (I can’t believe I did that) and 3 miles into the hike I said screw the email. Look at the mountains. Plus I’m my own boss, and I’m supposed to be hiring an admin type and a PA but again….I’m the boss. And it can wait.
