Today I thought I’d share a translation app that I frequently use to help me study Korean.
It’s called…
🥁🥁🥁
mirinae
This app is great because it not only translates the Korean text you input, but it also breaks down the sentence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They also have a section called wikinae (which is basically an urban dictionary for Korean) where you can learn Korean slang. Here’s a sample entry from wikinae:
Tumblr media
Anyways, that’s all for now.
Happy studying! 👋🏾

Hi! Little update on the Quizlet-like app, henceforth known and tagged as Innaflash. (One of my friend's ideas, and I'm a sucker for puns :) )
Tl;dr of below is i'd like opinions on the UI mockup so far, maybe some alternative color theme ideas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No coding has happened yet, but I started making a UI mockup to get the brain juices going and also bc i just love messing around with color themes and graphic design, hee hee. I think I'm going with a webcore theme. Default will be purple, but there will be the option to change the theme (i already have the code for this so it's easy to implement). A couple images are above, I'd like to hear what you all think :)

My current favorite clicky pens, the Uniball One, F, and P. Sooo friggin cute, slim, takes tons of different types of refills, has an amazing hinged clip, and fits in all of my pen loops with ease. Highly recommend!

Notionblr's Ultimate Activity Tracker
The best and final version of my Hobby Tracker is here! And honestly you can use it to track pretty much any kind of activity, so Activity Tracker is more acurate. I've made my own variations with very small and simple tweaks to track my cleaning schedule, my adulting tasks like paying rent and whatnot, as well as my hobbies, of course.
I think by now you know how to use this, and it's pretty self-explanatory, but if not, go to the original Hobby Tracker post, or just visit the actual template on Notion, where I have detailed instructions.
Access the template here!

My (ADHD) focus/organization strats
Here's some stuff that I've found works, and is working for me this semester! I want to go back and make cute graphics for this but. We'll see.
Doing a reading: Going for less visual clutter (tip: throw everything in a box, a pile behind you, or tucked behind your computer so you can't see it). Just need:
Computer to keep pomodoro timers and use with...
...Overear headphones to (1) block out distractions and (2) give me enough stimulus to stay present. My fav is white noise + the lofi study stream (nothing else fits my brain's requirements of no voices, round not sharp sounds, minor or no fading/switching side-to-side)
Critically, mini notepad for distracting thoughts. Anything that's not the reading (cool websites, chores, people to text, games to try...), write it down, deal with it when you're done. By which point it will probably not feel as important lol
A notebook if the reading is digital, or the reading + stickynotes if it's physical (bc I take notes like this but without the rewriting part usually)
Taking notes: Going for faster & easier writing, reviewing, & remembering
Color code classes and use that color in my headings, boxes (if we watch a video, i'll box my bullets on the video so I can differentiate from the lecture content), and...
...Pictures/diagrams, esp during lecture for Speed. Easier to look at and easier to remember than words.
Color code annotations (underlines/highlights in my notes, or the sticky note colors). I use big point, subpoint, new term / names / etc stuff I'll probably be tested on, and my thoughts/stuff i like
Annotate everything. Add your emotions, reactions, connections, examples, questions, ideas. I give these their own color. They go good in margins. Easier review, better remembering.
Surviving lecture: Thankfully my professors are very engaging this semester but I still use some strats
Fidgets omg. I got over myself and started bringing a fidget spinner and popit to class and it saves my life
Chop up video lectures, this is Prof. Mary Latta's idea she gives us 2-3 shorter video lectures instead of 1 long one. Pomodoro it.
Get involved with people. This is hard and took me years but it's awesome. Complement people and ask questions (stickers they have? their outfit, hair, nails, tattoos? work? major? interest in the class?), because you can (1) get friends/study buddies/people to sit next to, and (2) break the ice to asking for help and getting different perspectives. Hang out a little after/before class, ask for their reactions, examples, ideas. Gush your excitement or confess your confusion to the prof, or overhear someone doing that and jump in if you relate. None of us know 100% what's going on and it feels great to fill the gaps (or validate asking the prof for clarification!)
And important addition, when you get the pomodoro breaks (and before you start), ACTUALLY TAKE A BREAK. Do you need a shower/snack/water. You probably need to stretch. You might even need to move locations or get a different chair or move the light just to shake things up.

To anyone interested in hanja, I found a Korean dictionary app that shows the corresponding hanja for any word you are searching. It’s called…
Dusajeon
Features:
1. Definitions are available in English, Korean, Japanese, and Chinese.
2. Each definition has several sample sentences.
3. Each hanja character has its own page with examples of words it is found in.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Hanja characters are categorized by exam level, frequency, and stroke count. (I find the frequency category most useful since it helps you prioritize learning the hanja characters that are most common.)
Tumblr media
That’s all for now. Happy studying! 👋🏾

*Language learning app recommendation*
TLDR at the end
I’ve recently been trying to study Mandarin to surprise my one of my best friends who hasn’t been able to return home to China since COVID began. Obviously I’m not going to be very good at it for a long time, but I wanted to make some ground before I let her know as a surprise.
So I’ve followed as many similar blogs as I could find (and I’d be grateful for any recommendations as well) and been scouring around for the best language learning tools. I’m almost at 90 days on Duolingo, which has not been very helpful. I’ve made some progress on Drops/Scripts and played a few rounds on Infinite Chinese, which has been fun but these are largely vocab-based and wasn’t really helping with my understanding of the language overall.
Amid my scrolling the the foreign language tag, I was reminded of an app I had almost forgot about: Mango Languages
To be fair, I’ve only done my first Mandarin lesson today, but I was reminded of why I loved it so much when I used to dabble in Irish.
The chapters are divided up into manageable lessons and each lesson gives you an example of a conversation you’ll be able to have when you finish. (This is super helpful because it helps you understand what you are working toward.) The lessons introduce vocabulary alongside grammar concepts, which is especially helpful for overall comprehension.
There are so many neat features! For example, you can recite yourself saying the word/phrase and then hear it along side the native speaker audio they have to compare your pronunciation. They also have a hands-free learning feature so you can listen on the go without needing to interact with the screen. It also reads the information to you while you look at the screen (which is super helpful to people like me who struggle to follow along/stay focused at times).
AND THE BEST PART
It’s more than likely that you can get free access through your local library or other local organizations. They have a search function here so you can find one of thousands of organizations that can get you free access. (I live in the US so I’m not sure if the same thing is available in other countries, but please let me know if you find out!)
Mango offers over 70 different languages and you can download multiple lessons so you can study offline as well.
Like I said, I’m just getting into it, but I think I finally found something that is going to work for me.
What study tools do you recommend?
TLDR: Appreciation post for my rediscovery of Mango Languages. It’s a great app that teaches vocab and grammar efficiently and you can get free access through a local organization.

it took me weeks to prepare but I finally got my very first sap certification! the course breaks down design thinking into 8 phases. the process of design thinking allows you to think outside the box, be empathetic, fail early and often and look at a problem in a business using creativity. its approach is human centric, something that could lead to endless possibilities. design thinking is the future <3
"design leads to innovation, and innovation demands design"
