22/50 days of productivity
Happy Wednesday all! I hope everyone is having a good week so far, today was a pretty productive day. I’ve started doing this technique whilst studying where I put a stopwatch on when I start a study session and then pause it when I finish a study session, I find it really helpful and it puts less pressure on using set times to do stuff - I can spend as long as I want on certain tasks. Finished mockingjay and now I need a new dystopian series to sob over. I think I’m gonna carry on reading wuthering heights to mellow me out.
Tasks achieved:
Chemistry past paper
Maths past paper
Biology blurting
Biology homework (respiration)
Started chemistry homework
Finished mockingjay
🎧 teenagers - my chemical romance
QOTD - how has your week been so far

How to Take A Commercial Building Project From Start to Finish
Commercial construction projects are intricate operations that demand careful planning, coordinating, and carrying out. Starting a commercial building project can be difficult, whether you are an experienced developer or a novice investor. This thorough manual will take you step-by-step through the entire procedure, from the first design to the last stage of construction, highlighting the significance of working with commercial architects.
Steps To Build Commercial Building Projects
1.    Conceptualization and Feasibility Study
A thorough feasibility analysis and a defined concept are the foundation of each successful commercial construction project. Here, the project team conceives of the function, scale, and intended use of the structure. At this point, commercial architects are crucial since they aid in developing the project's original concept and viability.
Identifying if the project complies with local zoning and construction laws is a crucial part of this phase. A feasibility study that considers the market demand, location, budget, and potential return on investment is crucial. This step is crucial to make sure that the project is financially viable and complies with all applicable laws and regulations.
2.    Design and Planning
It's time to move on to the design and planning phase once the concept has been defined and its viability has been determined. The concept is transformed into a physical structure with the help of a local expert; for example, a commercial architect in colorado if you live in CO. In this phase, the architect produces comprehensive blueprints, plans, and drawings that incorporate both aesthetic and practical elements while conforming to building norms and regulations.
Incorporating components like energy-efficient heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems (HVAC) and renewable energy sources into the design phase is another way to take sustainability and energy efficiency into account. Additionally, to ensure the stability and security of the building, the architect should collaborate closely with structural engineers.
3.    Legal Approvals and Permits
Getting the required legal clearances and permits is one of the most important components of a commercial construction project. The project's plans and designs are thoroughly examined at this stage by the appropriate authorities. The project must adhere to all laws and rules, which the zoning boards, environmental organizations, and building departments in the area must check.
This procedure can be greatly accelerated by working with a group of experts who are familiar with the local laws and have a good working relationship with the permitting authorities. The project manager works closely with the commercial architect to facilitate the permit procurement process.
4.    Procurement and Budgeting
The following step is procurement and budgeting when permissions and approved designs have been obtained. Finding materials, recruiting contractors, and developing a comprehensive project budget are all part of this phase. Here, working with commercial architects is crucial because they can offer insightful advice on practical design decisions and materials that support the project's concept.
To guarantee that the project is financially viable, effective budgeting is essential. The distribution of cash for various components, such as building, labor, materials, and a contingency fund for unforeseen costs, should be carefully considered. The business architect can offer advice on how to cut costs without sacrificing quality or safety.
5.    Construction and Project Management
It's time to start breaking ground, and the construction process after the money is in place and the materials have been acquired. This phase's key element is project management, which is in charge of organizing diverse teams, guaranteeing quality control, and maintaining the project's timeline and budget.
In order to verify that the project follows the approved plans and specifications, the commercial architect continues to be involved during construction. To retain the integrity of the design, any essential revisions or clarifications are addressed right away.
6.    Quality Control and Inspections
It is crucial to maintain the highest standards of quality throughout the construction process. To quickly identify and address any concerns, frequent inspections and quality control checks are performed. In order to guarantee that the project complies with all quality and safety standards, the commercial architect, in cooperation with project managers and contractors, plays a crucial role in overseeing these checks.
This phase also entails holding regular meetings with all parties involved to discuss any issues or difficulties that might emerge during construction. To effectively resolve conflicts, communication that is open and transparent is essential.
7.    Finalization and Handover
The project moves into the finalization stage as the construction phase closes. Finishing touches, interior planning, landscaping, and the installation of critical systems all fall under this category. Commercial architects can make important contributions to interior planning and design, ensuring that the structure not only satisfies aesthetic standards but also best fulfills its intended purpose.
When a project is finished, a final walkthrough and inspection are done to ensure that every step has been done correctly. The project team will include the commercial architect in this last assessment.
 Conclusion
Starting and completing a commercial building project is a complex process that requires careful planning, teamwork, and a thorough grasp of the project's goals and limitations. The key to ensuring that your project is not only aesthetically beautiful but also functionally effective and in compliance with all local rules is to engage with skilled commercial architects.
You can successfully manage the difficulties of commercial building projects by following the indicated processes from the initial conceptualization to the finalization and handover. A well-coordinated team and excellent communication are crucial, as each phase is interconnected and dependent upon the others.

The Unseen Crisis in Education: A Call for Inclusive Leadership and Organisational Development
In today's fast-paced world, organisations often focus on end-users, such as students in educational institutions or patients in healthcare. However, there's a glaring oversight: the well-being of the very people responsible for delivering these services. This article delves into the critical issue of unmet needs among service providers across various sectors, with a particular focus on education. It also explores the role of inclusive leadership and organisational development in addressing these challenges.
The Gap in Understanding Stakeholder Needs
Whether it's a university, a healthcare provider, or a customer-focused business, organisations frequently overlook the needs of their internal stakeholders—those who deliver the services. For instance, in a student-focused organisation, the focus is often solely on student outcomes, neglecting the well-being of administrative staff, teachers, or lecturers. This oversight has a direct impact on their performance, decision-making, and interactions with others.
The Ripple Effect Across Industries
This issue is not confined to education; it's prevalent in healthcare, where nurses are often underpaid, and patient care takes centre stage. Similarly, in customer-focused businesses, middle managers may exert pressure on their teams without adequately supporting them to deliver customer service. This lack of support can lead to resentment and challenges in implementing inclusive practices, especially if the team itself doesn't experience inclusion.
The Power Dynamics
The challenge often boils down to how power is understood and exercised within organisations. If you're in a leadership position and believe that it gives you ultimate authority, you're less likely to work inclusively or distribute leadership. This mindset is often a learned behaviour, influenced by societal norms and existing leadership models that may inherently privilege certain perspectives.
The Importance of Dialogic Organisational Development
A dialogic approach to organisational development encourages open conversations and adaptability. It contrasts with planned changes imposed on people, which often lead to resistance and failed attempts at improvement. This approach is particularly relevant when discussing power dynamics and the need for a more inclusive leadership style.
The Crisis in Education
Recent data collected from over 200 teachers reveals alarming levels of burnout and attrition in the profession. If such high levels of disengagement and burnout were occurring in any other industry, there would be significant interventions focusing on employee engagement and well-being. Teachers, who play a pivotal role in shaping future generations, are not receiving the support they need, both in terms of professional development and emotional well-being.
The Role of Inclusive Leadership
Inclusive leadership is not just a theoretical concept; it's a practical necessity. Asking a group of professionals to implement something they haven't experienced themselves sets them up for resentment, burnout, and even imposter syndrome. Therefore, it's crucial to consider the unmet needs of all stakeholders, not just those in decision-making positions.
Universal Design for Learning: A Case Study
A recent conference on Universal Design for Learning highlighted the importance of facilitating rather than dictating learning. This approach can be applied to organisational development as well, where leaders can benefit from facilitating processes rather than imposing them.
Conclusion: A Call to Action
The high levels of burnout witnessed in education should serve as a wake-up call for all industries. It's time to ask why this level of emotional and professional exhaustion has become normalised in education but would be unacceptable elsewhere. As professionals in leadership and HR, we need to advocate for inclusive leadership and organisational development that takes into account the well-being of all stakeholders.
I invite you to share your thoughts in the comments below. Why do you think this level of burnout has become so normalised in education, and what can we do to change it?

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A DBA AND A PHD IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION?
Tumblr media
Different factors can influence someone's decision to pursue a higher degree in business. They can desire more favourable work prospects, seek out a novel intellectual challenge, or simply wish to broaden their knowledge and education. If you want to pursue a doctorate in business administration, you can choose between a PhD in Business Administration and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme. You can increase your research opportunities and, as a result, your career alternatives by choosing one of these options.
What is doctor of business administration meaning?
The highest academic qualification attainable in business administration is a DBA. A DBA is only available to people who work in business administration. A DBA degree equips graduates with the information and abilities needed to address real-world business administration issues.
What is the meaning of phd in Management?
A PhD is the highest degree you may earn in business administration. If you hold a PhD, you can find teaching positions at most universities. In contrast to a DBA, which can only be acquired in business administration, a PhD can be earned in nearly any discipline and can take you three to five years to finish. If it's of any interest, you can also join the ever-expanding PhD community, which aims to encourage and support one another along this arduous academic path.
However, if you're unsure which path to take for your higher education, this article clarifies the characteristics and key distinctions between a DBA and a PhD in Business Administration, assisting you in making a quick choice.
The study
A PhD candidate selects a research project that addresses a knowledge gap in an existing theory and has theoretical importance for the academic environment. A DBA candidate, however, selects a research project with practical commercial applications. A DBA subject will often focus on developing a novel theory or inventively improving an already established one.
Career Possibilities
Most academics who want to advance in their professions obtain PhDs. PhD holders are qualified to do research that advances business management theory and expertise. Professionals who want to advance into senior executive positions or land consulting jobs across several industries are more likely to choose a DBA. But if a DBA grad wants to work in academia, they can also decide to continue their research.
Read more about difference between dba and phd in management here.
