Habits I picked up because of school that I keep up with (on my semester break)
Waking up early- I find that, with few exceptions, I wake up before 8:30am every day.
Study groups- okay I’m stretching the definition here, but I have productivity days at coffee shops with my friends, where I work on job applications, blog posts (hehe I’m writing this one from the coffee shop), or work on hobbies (mostly crochet and embroidery).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Notion schedules-I used to keep weekly and daily schedules on notion to track schoolwork, but I now use them to track my work schedule and hangout dates with my friends
Always keeping lists/notebooks around- I am rarely without a notebook in arms reach. I have a notebook in my bag and by my bedside. I keep sticky notes in my apron at work so I can write things down and add them to my notebooks. I used them as a type of bullet journal but with none of the structure.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I still study- I just now have full control on what I study. For example, I plan on teaching myself the Dewey decimal system soon. (And picking up some asl)
Digital art- what started as doodling in the margins of my digital notebooks has become a full-blown hobby of mine.
Visiting the library- honestly, I just find the library to be a very comforting place.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Writing book reviews- while my book reviews for my blog posts are far less structured and formal, they only exist because I got used to writing them for school.
Reading nonfiction- I found through online classes that I enjoy reading textbooks and nonfiction work.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Listening to audio books- I started listening to audio books back when was both full time student and working full time because I had no time to sit down with a book. Now its my preferred way to read.
Picking up hobbies- I am always looking for my next hobby to pick up. Last year I picked up painting and crafting. I also tried out wax seals and gardening (shout out to the two plants I haven’t killed yet).
What productive habits have you picked up?

Going back and studying things as an adult has made me realize how school is truly not built for people with learning disorders and other neurodivergencies
I really spent my whole life thinking I wasn't going to be able to study any language with the same alphabet as english because my dyslexia was making it difficult, only to now realize I can absolutely do it just not the way school wanted me to.
Is part of it because the school never caught these things and never gave me an IEP or 504 plan? Maybe, who knows. All I know is I'm having fun learning something I thought I'd never be able to because I know how I learn and I won't let myself fall through the cracks.

I have sign off tomorrow for my PGCE - I've done everything I can but I'm nervous... It should be fine, I would know if I'm in trouble! However, I need to find something to entertain myself with tonight 👀

chaotic academia -or, my experience going to a public élite highschool
a building so big and old everyone calls it hogwarts
a building so cold and dark it scares you
the library is the biggest one you've ever seen but it's so imposing you're afraid of asking for a book
the outside is decorated with statues of the historical figures that attended the same school you are in now. you wish to someday be as great as them
you go to the toilet for the first time on the ground floor and you see a series of inscriptions on the walls discussing the correct conjugation of a verb
people making jokes in latin you can't understand yet, but you'll be making the same jokes a year later
you go to the toilet again, now on the second floor, and see "don't cry, it's just an exam" written on the wall. you wonder if that person wrote it for themselves
you learn about the mysteries of this school. apparently there were secret underground passages connected to the neighboring church and who knows what else. now you want to see them for yourself, too
having to study 5 languages, 2 of wich are dead. and if you feel like that isn't enough there are also 3 other optional language classes
during finals weeks, you walk out to the corridors and see people crying. "it's just an exam" you think to yourself, but you also want to cry
in the mornings, the whole school smells like coffee and everyone looks like they just slept 3 hours (they probably did)
during winter you can see the sunrise through the windows iluminating the historical buildings of the city
you thought you were going to get bullied for being a nerd but everyone is actually a nerd here. even the jocks are nerds
the main hall is filled with political statements and poetry such as "you can cut all the flowers but you can't stop spring from coming" (pablo neruda)
the authorities abusing their position makes you want to start a revolution
people always mistake you for a member of the school choir because you dress like you're about to act a scene from Les Misérables
you made a plan to survive all these years alone but somehow ended up making friends and learnt that crying isn't that bad, actually. especially if you have someone listening to you, or even someone else crying for the same reason
it's okay, you'll get through it.

Fall 2022 Finals
Grades are starting to come in! The first one is the grade for Ancient Christianities. There was no final for this class, so the finaly grade is just the grade I have in the class: a 73.93%... a C- better than failing i guess The next class to get grades in is the Colloquium on Comedy: a 67% (i got a 92% on the final!) I will be re-taking this class next semester anyways so the grade really doesn't matter I am still waiting on Latin and Greek to post the grades. Hopefully those will be up soon

on the special occasion of finally completing 3 years here is a lil thank you post. I started this blog back in Jan 2020 at the same time I started bujoing and decided to share my progress here as I was very inspired by the whole community and I am still touched by how welcoming and sweet everyone was to me. I have met some [hopefully] lifelong friends, had some of the best interactions and got to know the kindest people here.
Tumblr always felt like a home to me, there’s a strange comfort here, and even after 3 years the community hasn't changed much. Of course, I miss some of my beloved that aren't super active lately but just going to their accounts and revisiting the memories feels so intimate. I have sure made great memories here so just a little thank you to everyone who has ever interacted or sent me kind words with or without anon, everyone who has sent me moon pictures saying “it reminds me of you” have checked on me during exam season or left encouraging tags on reblogs, younger tumblrinas who said they want to journal like me, i truly love all of you! My askbox is always open [now with anons shjsjs] for you
if I could I'd write each of you handwritten letters and teleport there to meet even once but for now, just know that I love and adore you <3

9/20/2023 — Hello, studying world. Today I start my journey of learning Korean with my first university Korean class (online). We didn't have any work on the first day, so all I did was read the syllabus (the most basic, non-informative syllabus I've ever read, ha), set up my new desk space, and updated my student bio on Canvas. I haven't been a college student for about 3 years, so it felt like I accomplished a lot. When the readings and assignments start coming in, I'm sure reality will hit.
I've always wanted to learn Korean, and my goal is to reach a near-fluent level, but I know it'll be hard, especially with my full-time work priorities. Eventually, being able to teach and work in translation is my goal. FYI, Chinese, Thai, and Japanese are on my list, too, but I'll be realistic and focus on one language for the foreseeable future.
Last week, as it so happens, I had to move from my family and childhood home, and I am lacking in the positivity department rn, so I think having a place to chronicle my studies and the progress I make will be good for me. I tend to start a new blog on here when I'm having a hard time, and it helps.
So, the plan is to take two full academic years of Korean (that's 3 quarters per year at my university). That's just how much Korean the school offers. I graduated in 2020 from this same university with a BA in English with a focus on professional and creative writing, and I really enjoyed the overall experience studying here.
I spent a whole lot of time obsessing over grammar, reading new and old literature, trying to understand poetry, and just enjoying the inner peace I felt when writing fiction. It was maybe my most happy time because I had no other real responsibilities or worries besides school. All I did was read and write.
Anyhow, fast forward to now, after pondering different language learning options (which are limited in my area), I decided to take my Korean classes at the university level because the classes will show up on my official university transcripts, and I imagine that will be best when I apply for future Korean-related jobs. I am also hoping that by taking university-level language classes, they will have some sort of superior level of... intensity? accuracy? efficiency? Something like that. Granted, this route isn't the best for my finances, as there is no aid for non-matriculated post-grads, and the cost of a single class is quite ridiculous. But alas, here I am, with an empty wallet and hope in my eyes.
Upon reading the syllabus today, which could basically be summarized as "TBD," I realized the textbook I bought, the textbook I waited over a week for, the one listed on the online course materials list, is, in fact, not the correct textbook.
And, icing on the bitter cake, the correct textbook appears to be a rare Pokémon that isn't available anywhere except the dark corners of eBay, where shipping will take at least 2 weeks. Like how did other students get this? Did they order it two months in advance? Meanwhile, I have my first assignments and readings due Monday.
I quite literally just sent an email to my professor and asked what I should do, so we'll see what she says, but I really wasn't hoping to be that one student, emailing the professor about an issue on day 1.
Since this is my first post here, here also is a tiny bit about me:
My name is Asya ("Asia"), and I'm a 24-year-old English grad based in Washington; no, not the one followed by DC, but the state with a lot of rain and trees. Twilight? Starbucks? Amazon? Yes, that one.
Since graduating in 2020, I've been a freelance editor and writer. I'm taking Korean both for passion and for work purposes, and I really should have started sooner. But I guess we're all on our own timelines.
I've been on Tumblr for a long, long time, but I've never been part of the studyblr sector. I'm glad to be here. :)

intro post
hi, i'm maya, and i've been a part of the marauders fandom since 2020! i've been looking to get more marauders friends hence! this blog
a little bit about me: i'm 23, she/her, and i write fic under the same name on ao3 (wolfstar/jegulus/dorlene/marylily for now but i have some other things in the Chute)
obvs i'm super gay and don't support jkr or her works, though i did read all the harry potter books when they were popular. something i've liked a lot about this fandom is how a lot of the lore is fan-driven and so my writing of the marauders is more rooted in fanwork than harry potter canon (which is so much better lol)
i have a girlfriend and i like her a lot so i talk about her a lot and she inspires a lot of my fic stuff :)
i'm a black brothers sibling dynamics slut and i also am committed to writing the girls like real people also i feel passionately about peter pettigrew! (i don't really care what you ship or which characters you like or don't like though i'm not an anti-shipper or something)
this is a side blog (my main blog is more of a studyblr) and it's going to be mostly marauders content, but with a splash of other things i like (tv shows, high fantasy, music)
i don't really do anything with the golden trio era at all no hate to those who do it's just not my thing so i won't be posting anything about popular ships from that era
incomplete list of my fave fics: crimson rivers, atyd (sirius' version in particular is really my fave), the hand that feeds (rollercoasterworlds), would that i, kill your darlings, choices, our gentle sin (ludo_ten), lessen my load (moonymoment), wading in waist high water (colgatebluemintygel), mastermind (pieceofchocolate)
current fic tbr: only the brave, black mass, probably more tbh but i can't think of them
if this sounds like you drop me a follow and my dms are always open i desperately want marauders friends

Hello everyone! If any of you remember I posted a previous network to make finding studyblrs in university easier, see here or paste this link https://witchylillie.tumblr.com/UniNetwork, into your browser.
The network, or directory, was amazing and it still has a lot of active blogs on it, however, I wanted to make an updated one as the previous one was posted in August of 2020, how time flies haha
If you're interested simply reblog this post with your major, location (you can be as specific as you would like), classification (i.e I'm a first-year master's student), and any social media information you would like me to add (i.e. insta: witchy.lillie) I will compile everyone's information together and post an updated page to make it easier to make friends and connections on here!

Tumblr media Tumblr media
I haven’t updated my studyblr/bookblr since last year but I’m back and giving a rundown of my day and to-do list. I was at school today and was assigned a lot of work which is usual and for one of my classes, my teacher used my assignment as an example for other students to know what they’re supposed to do and I felt honored honestly. I came home and did a mid workout (wasn’t intense), worked on both legs and arms and I feel pretty good.
My to-do list for today:
English SBA group google meet at 5:30 (I’m in it right now)
English comparison essay on 2 poems
History essay questions
Principles of Business 2020 CSEC p1
EDPM Assignment 2 to complete
Geography SBA draft to complete
Soil leaching research and make small notes
Also, currently reading Good Girl Bad Blood and I’m hooked to this series.
I have until 12am to complete all or at least the first 3 tasks which is in approximately (5hrs and 34mins). Wish me luck!
(Damn I wish I had discipline)
