Language Learners Speaking Ask Game
I remember years ago, I used to come across people's audio posts all the time on langblr. People would record themselves speaking in their target languages and post it, and I thought it was a really nice aspect of the community. Since, I don't see these kinds of posts, anymore, I thought it would be fun to encourage a resurgence of this by creating a little ask game!
These questions are meant to be answered aloud and in your target language, but do as you wish!
Introduce yourself!
Why did you start learning your target language?
Do you have a favorite dialect in your TL?
What's your favorite tongue twister in your TL?
Are there any celebrities who speak your TL whose voice you really like?
What is your favorite TL song to sing along to?
Are there any songs in your TL that you know all the lyrics to? Are there any songs you’d like to learn all the lyrics to?
Do you take any classes in your TL or do you have study buddies with the same TL?
Congratulations, you get to live where your TL is spoken! Ideally, where would you live (ie. city)?
Where is your favorite place to study languages?
What are go-to snacks for studying?
What's your favorite book you've read in your TL?
What's your favorite show/movie you've watched in your TL?
Have you ever had a conversation in your TL with a native speaker? How'd it go?
Who is your favorite TL musical artist and what do you like about their music?
Has knowing your TL ever helped you out in a pinch?
Do you listen to any podcasts in your TL?
What kinds of YouTube videos do you watch in your TL and does that differ from the kinds of videos you watch in your primary language?
Do you have any pet phrases/words (words or phrases you say often) in your TL?
Are there any phrases in your TL vocabulary that you picked up or say because of something you've read or watched?

for the studyblr ask
📚 favorite course you’ve taken?
thank you for the ask! ☺️
i think it might have to be my databases course! i actually already knew a lot of the material in advance since i took an online SQL course, but it was a really good opportunity to refine my knowledge and hone my application.
our prof was wonderful, so good at explaining, gave fair assessments, everything we needed was in the lecture notes so we didn't need to shell out on a textbook, and he was just in general a Good Dude™️
i also had a friend in the course whom i shared a lot of similarities with, got to do group work with, and since she was further along in her program than me, i got to ask her about internships and stuff 🙈
at the end of the course i was offered a TA-ship since i did well, but i couldn't do it because taking this course qualified me for an award to do research with databases 👀😅
so yeah, a very good course haha

1. Friends-the type that make me happy of my existence.
2. Spring-it feels like a transition period and I love that.
3. Education- I’m grateful but also learning is so cool! Wdym I get to learn new things? And get to create because of it???
4. Music- not only listening but creating music! Singing (when I’m not preparing for an exam) literally is my therapy (apart from my real therapy).
5. Life- idk dawg I’m just in that mood if yk what I mean, the sun is shining through my window, I’m on my Easter break, have a language class later and was low-key scolded by my sangeet teacher for not practicing, but atp I’m too happy to care! Life man.

Hi! Do you happen to have a discord? Of not can you please consider maybe making one? So girls could unite(I need some freaking safe space. I had so much BS from male colleagues one even made me cry lol. And yes, it was because of coding. Like the superiority complex is like ingrained in them)
I just want to find a coding partner who's nice lol:) please and thank you 🩷🩷🩷
Hiya!
I don’t personally own/run a discord server but the lovely and amazing @vexacarnivorous created a server called ‘Codeblr Blogs Unite’ and we’re all in there and it’s friendly, I literally love everyone in there! The server is mixed but everyone is respectful and kind! Just a place to hang out from places like Twitter/Reddit/Other bad servers etc 🥲🙌🏾 But yeah some of us even built a group project together and it was so fun, I loved it!
I made a post about it: LINK
And a link to the server: LINK
Please join and have fun! I realised I didn't add it to my pinned post but now I have! 🥰💗

for the science ask game!! 🔭, 🔬, and 🪐
thanks for the ask @archaic-stranger!
🔭 what sparked your interest in science/your field
i like science's consistency and how topics build on each other to paint a picture-in-progress explaining the intricacies of nature. but i think a major reason for my interest in bioinformatics is how it can be used to accelerate life sciences research (ngl, covid happening was a big reason i chose my degree and why i'm latching onto the whole bioinformatics idea 😅)...
🔬 a science class you loved, and why
molecular biology! it gets a bad rep for being a difficult course at my school, so i wanted to prove to myself that i could excel at it bc it's the basis for a lot of bioinformatics work (and i did! i got the highest mark in the class! 🤓) 😅
🪐 something you learned this week
the CYP 3A4 enzyme in the liver metabolizes 50% of all clinically-used drugs, which can lead to drug interactions bc if you take multiple drugs, they could compete for the enzyme's active site.

thanks!
Hi! ^.^
4. Favorite book in your target language that you read this year?
神去なあなあ日常 (The Easy Life in Kamusari) by Miura Shion
I'm not technically finished with this book, but I did read some of it this year... That counts, right? ^.^ And it was the book that I liked the most of the few that I read this year. I found the reading challenging but the story was fun, and I am reading it in English too.
7. Favorite song in your target language this year?
可愛くてごめん feat. ちゅーたん(CV:早見沙織)/HoneyWorks
Kawaikute Gomen feat. Chuu-tan (CV: Hayami Saori) / HoneyWorks

🗑️💬🎵 for the ask game! 😄
omg thank you for the ask!!
🗑️ - i knew i definitely wanted to do law since high school !! as for my undergrad major, my "almost-major" was definitely history but i ended up majoring in economics because it made more practical sense in terms of employability. looking back, knowing i was going to law school anyway, ig it didn't really matter but i think majoring in econ still opened doors for internships/a post-grad job that a history major might not have otherwise :))
💬 - i don't have the paper with me atm so i don't remember exactly what she said, but my literature professor from undergrad complimented my paper on virginia woolf's to the lighthouse and submitted it for a prize at my uni (which i didn't win but still!) <3 but more recently in law school, my legal writing professor said i wrote a really thoughtful memo and gave me the highest grade in the class so that was really nice!
🎵 - if you can imagine the most discordant chaotic song ever, that is me as a study "vibe," but instead, i will just link to one of my favorite vampire weekend songs that has (marginally) to do with studying: oxford comma

For langblr asks - 23, 28, 33
hi anon! thanks for the asks ☺️
❤️ 23 - ahhh ok @blueprint-9376 and @yang-jin-seo are my favorite Korean language blogs and @tokidokitokyo is my favorite Japanese blog and can someone please recommend me more Chinese blogs to follow so i can gain more exposure!! 👀
😮 28 - native speakers react pretty positively! at least to my face 😅 i actually get worse reactions from people who aren't learning languages. they're like, "but why? what's the point? you already know English and AI is going to eliminate the need for translating, you're wasting your time" and then i just question everything and feel like giving up 😭 which is why i'm so grateful for langblr, so i have a safe space to learn 🤧
💼 33 - i want a career where knowing different languages gives me an ace! 💯 (which imo is all/any career, tbh) but actually being an official translator is too much pressure, i don't want anyone to be misunderstood because of me 💔
