hi everyone! i’m starting a studyblr/bookblr/langblr all in one (?!) in order to track my summer study progress, so here’s my introduction! i plan on using these to track and motivate myself to keep up with my summer studies and reading.

im like if a crow loved writing - i love all types of collecting, journaling, scrapbooking, doodling, and i have many different types of physical and digital notebooks.

i have the writing Impulse and i write a lottt (i will post some of it here!)

i am jewish, and judiasm is a qualified Interest of mine, alongside other religious and spiritual studies! i also love philosophy and tarot!

ok so ive been getting a few questions! and i will still answer individually but here’s some information that i got or am expecting to get!

studyblr directory

you can submit by typeform, google form, or askbox at the moment! its all the same! submissions do not close!

the directory grows as people submit to it, so if your field isnt there, its created for you! 

i accept EVERYTHING. i also organize for sororities, fraternities, and HBCU/MSIs! if youre in a national org (ex. model un) i will put that too! just let me know if youre at the hs or collegiate level

fields are organized by major & minor, and if you have a specialty let me know, because that will go in the extension hover box! this shit is IN DEPTH yall

the discord is open to everyone, you dont have to be in university! it also does not close acceptances, its open access!

I fucking hate having to pick a dissertation project

All through education we go through a process of gradually specialising. The move from doing everything to gcses was a welcome narrowing of my education, I no longer had to do dance or drama lessons which I did not greatly enjoy. The move from gcses to a levels was also welcome - no more english or re or or or citizenship or art. I've also enjoyed moving from a levels to uni, although l mostly enjoyed my a levels being able to focus on mostly studying plants (with a little bit of broader bio and stats) is great. Picking a dissertation project though? No, not a fan. I don't have a particular plant this that I want to focus on. So many of the dissertation options make me think ooooo cool I wanna know more. Which is good because hopefully I'll enjoy whichever I end up doing but also no matter which one I pick I'm going to feel like I'm missing out. Like if I'm mapping genes then I'll be missing out on mapping plant distribution and if I'm poking around in a bog I'll be missing out on trying to make a terrarium that is sustained by natural wastes and just ahhhhh they all sound so interesting and I want to do them all!

Precalculus tutoring/classes here(?)

Hi, peeps! So I was thinking, precalculus is the class where most people fail at my university and in which people seek more tutoring. On my freshmen year, I helped a lot of struggling students with this class and offered individual tutoring for almost no cost whatsover and I really enjoyed teaching it so I thought I should make some tutoring here! My initial idea is to give a complete tumblr precalculus course, topic by topic (each class would be a different post) with printable practice excersices and printable reviews of the topics. It would be a long, tedius, and time consuming project so I want to know beforehand if it would/could be useful to the studyblr community. Tell me what you think about it, how can my idea be improved and/or please like or reblog to have a count of how many people support my idea. At the end, the plan is to have a master post with all the topics, like a syllabus where you can click the topic you want and have an online tutoring. Obviously, if you ever needed additional help, you could hit my ask and clarify anhthing. Thank you every oneee!.

reads the syllabus as soon as it’s released and writes everything in her planner

also the type to start studying for an exam a month in advance

definitely not the type to cram — she makes sure that she starts early and finishes early

could have a studyblr — loves taking aesthetic notes, perfect handwriting

handwriting is medium sized, slightly loopy (loops g’s, y’s)

we already know she’s an amazing tutor and her notes are perfect (easy to understand!)

extremely patient with people — she’s the type of person to be like I’m not moving on until you get this

my 2020 new year’s resolutions + goals:

academic:

regularly create plans for big assignments/projects, keep up with them, and no turning in work last minute!

pass the foundation year i’m enrolled in and progress onto my undergrad degree (yeah this one is clearly the most important goal)

create and keep up with a bullet journal 

read two books a month (or at least hit 20 books for the whole year)

develop and carry out at least one more donation drive during this school year

find a tutor for maths and work with them regularly

use the forest app daily

health + wellness:

lose (redacted) pounds and keep them off this time

find vitamins + supplements that work for me and take them regularly

workout 3-4 times a week

take a long walk around the big lake near me at least twice a month

work on my self confidence + be more gentle on myself emotionally

take time to do a mini spa + self-care night once a week

take better care of my skin + teeth

personal + social:

create a memory journal and consistently make entries for eventful days

take one completely solo weekend trip in the uk

similar: make a list of all the things i want to do during my (planned) four years in london and try to complete one a month

be better with my money

regularly transfer money to my savings account

start tracking purchases, create a budget, and stick to it

develop a better organisation system for my flat + set aside a few minutes each day to tidy up

do a deep clean of my flat twice a month

start uploading regularly (maybe twice a month) on my youtube channel

start actively posting (at least once a week) on this studyblr again 

note: some of these are vague just because i haven’t really thought them through yet to be honest. i’m going to sit down this week and go through each one and turn them into realistic goals using the smart criteria system which i highly recommend!

Studyblr Re-introduction

Hello! Every semester I like to re-introduce myself, partially to greet new followers, partially to put my plans for posting for the semester out there so y’all know what I’m doing and to maybe pressure myself into following through.

Who am I and what am I doing?

Right now I’m on my last semester of college! I’m double majoring in physics and chemistry with a weird concentration in engineering (it’s a new program and it’s quite bad). I’ve already been accepted into several graduate schools in aerospace engineering (so so excited to soon make the transition to gradblr!!!), and will be essentially constantly traveling for visits and interviews. I’m also going to be writing my undergraduate thesis on adapting ultrafast pulse techniques to work with parahydrogen hyperpolarization (I’m quite stressed because I have a *lot* more lab work and troubleshooting to do and I’m not sure I’ll get it done in time to actually write the thesis).

Classes?

I’m taking two gen-ed type classes: one on nutrition and another on the philosophy of love and friendship. Then I’m in organic synthesis and advanced pchem. I’m also in a frustrating capstone group project class for my physics major which takes more time than I’d like.

What do I do when not studying?

I’m training for a marathon and also growing flowers from seed (I’m very excited I planted them today--they’re marigold and lavender). I also enjoy reading almost anything and bodypump and am trying to get back into creative writing after a seven-year bout of crippling writer’s block.

What to Expect?

Expect lots of posts on general study tips, and probably detailed updates on how I’m doing with my thesis. I’m hoping to be posting several times a week throughout the semester. Also expect more pictures! I just recently got a hand-me-down phone that can actually take semi-decent pictures, so I’m excited to spice things up! Finally, I’m emphasizing self-care (in the form of actually keeping up with my breathing exercises/journalling/healthy hobbies) this semester, not sure this will make this into my blog posts since I usually keep my mental health private but if people are really interested lmk.

Advice/Homework Help?

I am a very friendly but also extremely anxious person and I love helping people! (I have two younger siblings that I have tutored through chemistry/physics/early college courses.) If you need help on physics or chemistry coursework I will be happy to answer questions, chat, walk you through example problems, etc. I also have experience with: taking the GRE, applying to grad school in engineering, switching fields between undergrad and grad school, double majoring, doing research as an undergrad, taking AP classes in high school, surviving as an anxious bean, etc. Please feel free to ask me for advice!

Why a studyblr

For motivation and accountability mostly. The inspo photos are super motivating and the tips and tricks and whatnot always help tons with getting motivated. As for accountability, I have a tendency to procrastinate and I hope that by posting progress here I'll trick my brain into thinking there's peer pressure.
