Day 9/100 : 03-05-2023

i loved this day so much. i did a lot of things. i think.

caught up on 3-4 weeks of biology at 1 am

struggled with drawing an anti-body because of course i did

continued studying for the maths test i have tomorrow (today)

completed all my duolingo quests

i really love the chapter we’re doing right now in biology. we’re doing immunology and my teacher is making it so fun. she’ll like select people to be different cells and explain their functions and roles as if it were the army and we were at war. it makes everything much easier to understand.

Aesthetics: I’m quite obsessed with the concept of aesthetics in the current age of social media and will probably write about it quite a bit. For those interested in aesthetics, my aesthetic has been called by those who know me, a mixture of chaotic/dark academia meets punk all tied in a western bolo tie. Do with that what you will. 

Fashion: I have always had an interest in fashion and garment construction, during the March 2020 quarantine, I started working on starting a brand as a way to stay busy. Here’s my fashion sideblog @houseofapotheosis. 

Films: A wide variety of films. I don’t use it too much but if we’re mutuals and you want my Letterboxd, ask!

Music: My music taste runs rather diverse, but I tend to fall into more alternative genres. My current most listened to spotify playlist is here.

Politics: I will bring up politics when I feel necessary because it is necessary. All are welcome here and discussions are always ready to be had as long as all parties are respectful and civil. This is not a space which supports conservative or alt-right beliefs. 

Philosophy:  Not much to say, but I’m always interested in doing philosophical deep dives and want to use my philosophy degree for something. 

Reading: reading is my lifeforce and will always bring up a reason to rant about books. Here’s my StoryGraph. 

Religion: I love talking about religion and spirituality and will probably discuss it at length when I want to. This is to say that people of all religions and spiritualities are welcome here and kindness, common sense, and civility are expected. If you are ever curious about my thoughts on religion or spirituality asks and messages are always open.

The short and simple, I started this blog as a way to rebuild myself after a strong bout of burnout. I’ve been hyper driven and ambitious since I was quite young and have always struggled with the workhorse mentality. I haven’t had a moment of rest probably ever and want to use this blog as a way to develop a healthy relationship with academics, career, and myself. Along the road I hope to share my experiences and help others that are going through similar things.

Official re-introduction?

Hey everyone! I haven't reintroduced myself since coming back on tumblr. I've been on and off tumblr for the past ten-ish years, but I finally found a routine that works for me to keep my blog updated!

I am wanna-be-bookish, formerly wannabe-historian. I finished university a few years ago, and I don't see myself going back for now. So I don't think I can classify myself being part of the studyblr community anymore.

My content will be mostly re-blogged stuff, anything I find aesthetically pleasing and relating to books and studying. I also hope to put out more original content as I recently re-discovered my love of reading, and I'm really excited to talk about it!

So here we are, my first original post in a really long time. Pictured, the newest addition to my bookshelf, The Choice by Nora Roberts, the third and final installment in 'The Dragon Heart Legacy'. I have been loving this series and I might need to pick up a few more of Nora Roberts' works in the future. Let me know what you think if you've read this trilogy!

still endlessly studying for french (flashcards, active recall, etc)

studied for a spanish oral test i had the same day very early in the morning

completed my daily duolingo quests

i skipped my extra spanish class this day to study more for french because i couldn’t fathom staying at school for two and a half hours doing practically nothing when i have my mock exam in a few days (now tomorrow). i did rediscover my love for j rock and j pop so i guess that’s that.

in these days i’m not very active in studyblr & medblr posting, i have chilling days with my novel and the situation with a lot of sleeping!

i was at the hospital with my mom on tuesday (in the second pic this is me lol), i had a very good time with mom’s boss and their patients, we discussed a lot of interesting cases, i laughted a lot with him🤍 also i helped in the laboratory and did some paperwork, so just the habitual.

today i helped my (ex)groupmates in their studies. they are studying public health in their uni right now, also i studied this subject in my technical high school (in year 10), so i could help them!!

unpopular opinion probably but idk why ppl wanna be santiago or hermione or rory. sure they are all hyper vigilant about their studies and super organized but they’ve also got unhealthily high stress and anxiety levels. they gotta take some chill pills sometime. i personally feel best about my studies when my anxiety levels aren’t thru the roof, even if it means i’m not hyper vigilant about maintaining a super neat workspace or whatever. for me there’s gotta be a balance. if my room/workspace are immaculate, i’ve pulled a rory/santiago/hermione. if it’s a complete mess, clothes haven’t been picked up in weeks, my notes are half assed, u know my mental health is also bad. a little bit of a mess, a manageable mess, is fine. it means i’ve got my shit together enough that i know how to prioritize without freaking out. but these 3 girls are all perfectionists so they’re like how i am at the height of my anxiety/stress, with the perfect notes and uber organized everything. (side note: elle woods is great because the effort she puts into her studies isn’t the cause of her stress, even tho she has good notes and organization.) personally, as an anxious overachiever myself, i feel that people romanticize hermione, santiago, and rory a bit too much on here. i see the parts of myself that i don’t like in them. yeah they get results but at what cost?
