as it comes to the holidays as someone who doesn’t celebrate with their family and can get sad and a bit lonely I just wanted to make a post about all the things I’m grateful for instead. I’m grateful for the love and support from my friends and loved ones, I’m grateful for my sister and how strong and powerful of a role model she makes. I’m grateful for my resilience and ability to pick myself up always. I’m grateful for my love and kindness instead of growing hard and cold. I’m grateful for my love of the earth and connection to nature, how much peace is gives me. I’m grateful for my health and how far I’ve come since this time last year. I’m grateful for my ability to grow and how much I have grown as a person. I’m grateful for a roof over my head, food on my plate, readily available water. I’m grateful for two legs, arms, eyes, breath and air to breathe. I’m grateful for my ears to listen, my eyes to see and admire, my nose and taste to enjoy with. There is so much I have to be grateful for, why should I get stuck in the negative that would only hold me back and I encourage you reading this to do the same, reply with all that you are grateful for.

i am returning to uni soon and i desperately need to focus on stress management lmao i’m a wreck. this was also highly requested so i thought i’d make it my first one so that it could be useful for those students who are going back to school soon!! this took me way too long rip
tips:
self-care is so important; i cannot stress this enough. being unhealthy mentally means being unhealthy academically! studying and getting good grades are important, but there needs to be balance with that and the other parts of your life!!!
understanding anxiety is a really big part of being able to handle it appropriately and move through it. you need to partly, if not fully, understand what makes you anxious and why – then you can move forward!!!
having good time management skills is also a really big part of stress management; if you don’t have good time management skills, you’ll constantly feel behind and begin to feel stressed.
keeping a bullet journal, or just a list of tasks is a great way to be able to visualize everything that you need to do that day/week!
using apps or web extensions is also a great way to set reminds and visualize what you have on your to do list.

something I think people, especially young people, don’t have enough gratitude for life. This year I sort of began this journey of falling in love with life after going through hell. And I realised that I’m so incredibly lucky to be alive each day, taking in a breath, being able to see, being able to see in colour, being able to bend my arms, having arms and legs to bend! I don’t think we are appreciative enough of these simple things! My mother was practically immobile while she was pregnant with me because she was informed that she had a 90% chance of having a miscarriage and when I was born, there wasn’t a doctor present and my umbilical chord was wrapped three times around my neck! I’m so frickin grateful! To be here! And I’m not going to let anything stop me from achieving the best I can with my life now that I’m here! So take a breath and name three things you’re grateful for. Do this as often as you can. Take out your headphones out and go for a walk in nature and let yourself fall in love with life.

Why I’m friends with people smarter than me
So my teacher told us this story about a boy who would always top his classes with minimal effort and was without doubt one of the smartest people in the school. This boy surrounded himself with people who did not achieve greater than him and his confidence in his abilities were through the roof. After highschool this changed. The boy went to the medical sector of the army and everyone was achieving greater than him because they had spent time preparing, studying and working hard to consolidate their abilities and instead of rising to the challenge this boy failed and failed again and his ego was so deflated after realising he was no longer the most intelligent person in the room. So he dropped out.
I used to surround myself with people with poor work ethic and I would find myself the only person educated on “worldly” topics but I changed this and now I can confidently say that my friends are smarter than me in a lot of different areas! Not only does this condition me to be humble and not consider myself above others but every day, talking to them, I am educating myself and educating them in areas each of us have invested time and research into! Surrounding yourself with people who have positive work ethics and are intelligent is so good for you and it will motivate you to work harder!! Knowing where the top level lies and how hard you need to work to reach that!!
Moral of the story is surround yourself with a diverse group of people and people who are smarter than you. Same with all friendships, a lot of the time these friendships don’t workout which is completely normal but if you can find that person in your classes who, when they speak, make you go ‘wow’ find them out and spend time with them, they will have more incredible things to say and if you want to hear them, stick around.

A spread of the goodies I’ve received from my penpal. I wasn’t able to post alot lately because I’ve been very busy because of uni. I have thesis chapter deadlines, plates and prelim exams. I thought I wouldn’t survive lol. It’s just the beginning of the semester but I’m already wiping my tears hahaha but still good because I am able to execute how to make a hull and lines plan with the use of Rhino (because we’ve always used cad for it). We all did it one by one during class. I’ve been very nervous the whole time I’m waiting for my turn but it’s all in the past now. I should chill and reward myself because I did better than expected.
