favorite thing about them: I had a list of answers here, ranging from the snarky (his very attractive nose) to the serious (how interesting his growth is from Awakening to the denouement of DA2), but realistically that list was too long for this question. that should give you an idea of how I feel about this guy.

least favorite thing about them: oh my god he's such a jerk to Merrill and honestly I would be hard-pressed not to actually slap him for some of the shit he says to her

favorite line: throw a dart at his combat commentary and you'll hit a great line, it is SO funny. but I'm a total sucker for "Want to see what's under these robes?!" Anders why.

brOTP: oh Justice no contest. you don't fuse your soul with just anybody! that's reserved for special people, you know?

OTP: Fenris/Anders.

nOTP: any Hawke-based rivalmance or rivalmance-style relationship with other characters. no.

random headcanon: when he does the Costume Change in Act 3 and gets the black coat, which is virtually identical to his original green one? yeah he dyed that himself by hand. and spent like a week trying to get the stains off his hands and arms.

unpopular opinion: weirdly this one could be unpopular with some fellow Anders fans? look. I get why the knee-jerk reaction is to say Anders Is A Wonderful Person, but...uh. I disagree. he's not a kind character, really. compassionate, yes, good, yes, kind...not so much. how he talks to and about people isn't always kind. he's thoughtless in words. in fact, he can be actively, knowingly cruel. some of the things he says to Merrill and Fenris are just vicious. he does things that are good, on a level that very few people in DA2 (and, honestly, throughout the games) even try. regardless of what you believe about the end of his arc in the game, everything up to that--saving mages from the Gallows, operating a clinic that served people the Chantry actively ignored--made a noticeable beneficial impact on Kirkwall and the people who lived there. lives were saved and bettered because of him. but that doesn't make him kind.

Just had a realization that older generations had their own vast fandoms that we could never really begin to get into the same way they did back in their day.

The surge of dopamine finding your Hyperfixation in a random magazine, library book, or randomly on a poster in the street - what a high that must've been. (Even more so if the fandom you were in was more obscure in a sense) Sure, we can still get that nowadays, but the internet has made that easier, and by a few words in Gogole you can find stuff to that "new" thing easier. It's taken a bit of that zest away in finding things out in the wild.

I grew up on the cusp of the internet getting big and still got to experience some of those "in the wild" things, but I also applaud the internet because it was easier to p*rate the whole library of the Music Hyperfixation Du Jour and binge listen all their content within a week/month.(depending on the depth of their library)

Back to the fandom thing I started with: I saw Gowan go to a Sparks concert a while back(via his instagram) and realized that the fandom he's in could never match with me starting to get into them right this second. He's had whole decades of experiencing the Sparks catalogue and their live shows, and I could never surmount to ingesting that enormous amount of content - especially since I missed out on a lot of the live shows and that's an experience you could never match by watching all their liveshows on YouTube and the like. (And I still felt this way getting into RUSH and Gowan, but for some reason their live content on albums and DVDs seemed Awesome Enough that it didn’t seem as daunting as the other fandoms I've been in)

I've been on a bit of an existentialist kick as of late, and this seems to be the one I felt I needed to put out in words. (I won't even get into the whole "wow I exist on this small planet in the universe and how vast that is" thing because it makes me anxious and i dont want to pass that onto y'all)

Anyway, here's a pic of Gowan I recently saw that I wanted to share with y'all that encapsulates how I felt with the above realization:

🐙 Azul is a fairly protective sibling in general, so when Jade and Floyd came up to him and said that they couldn't find his sibling around Night Raven College, he immediately went to the prefect to find out where you were

🐙 Hearing that you were taken from the grounds by a supposed student, Azul appointed the tweels to go with Rook, Yuu, and Grim in order to find you and get you back to Octavinelle

🐙 When he received the news that you were going to be returned soon, he was relieved, especially after seeing a photo of you and the tweels safe and sound

🐙 Your brother had bee-lined to the entrance of the college, he had stood there and shuffled on his feet, his mind full of what ifs

🐙 Like he literally rants to himself in his mind;

What if they were injured but I couldn't see it?! What happened to them?! Why were they even kidnapped?! What if I got there before?! Why would someone ever try harming them?!

🐙 This guy is literally making up scenario after scenario while waiting for you and the tweels to reappear

🐙 Once he heard the sound of you yelling and Floyd laughing, he jumped back out of his head and looked up from his phone. And he was happy to see Floyd giving you a piggyback ride as you held tightly onto him while he ran

" Azul! Lookie, we found Baby Octopus! "

🐙 Your eyebrows furrowing in agitation at the nickname made Azul chuckle as he walked up to you guys, motioning for Floyd to put you down

🐙 He was super happy that you were back, and while you did have some side-effects from being stuck in S.T.YX., he just smiled and brushed his fingers over the small scales on your arms

" I've seen you look far worse, little sibling. " " Yeah! Like when you accidentally sprayed ink all over yourself when we scared you all those years ago! " " Shut the hell up, Floyd! "

🐍 Was he peeved when he received news that you were missing? Absolutely.

🐍 At first, Jamil believed that someone was there to kidnap Kalim but ended up accidentally getting the identities mixed and kidnapped you instead

🐍 Once he heard about it, he had ordered everyone he knew to search for you, and hearing that other members of the College had gone missing as well, only made him worry even more

🐍 Was something else going on? If someone was just after Kalim, why would there be other students missing?

🐍 Much like Azul, Jamil begins to panic on what happened to you, making many different accusations and scenarios up in his mind on what had happened to you and where in Twisted Wonderland you would be

🐍 It was when he was just about to go overboard and possibly overblot again that he got a call from Kalim, stating that you were found and only had a few changes, but they weren't bad

🐍 That made his worries all vanish, and it also made the rest of Scarabia whip their foreheads of sweat, they were scared their vice-housewarden was about to go and hypnotize them again

🐍 Jamil immediately after hanging up with Kalim began to sprint down the corridor and through Scarabia's mirror, bolting straight for the mirror chamber, and when he saw you weren't there, he ran right to the entrance of the school

🐍 Which was where he saw you and Kalim hugging, you just trying to comfort him from crying so much

" Hey brother! " " Sweet Sevens, thank the world that you're safe. Kalim said you had no injuries that were major, right? You better not be hiding any of them from me, or I swear to- " " I'm really fine, Jamil. Just I little tired is all. "

🐍 That was when he noticed that Kalim was messing with something behind you, and when he looked back and saw that you had a small snake tail with a rattle, his eyes widened and he looked so confused

" Long story... " " Then you better start telling me now. "

🐍 Yeah, once you told him about everything that happened with S.T.Y.X. it's needless to say that he became a mama-bear whenever Idia came around

👑 Oh was he beyond upset

👑 Vil was looking everywhere in Pomefiore for you, so when he couldn't seem to locate you, even using your tracking system you both installed on your phones for safety, he got really mad

👑 He tried to asked Rook to go around and look for you, and that was when he noticed that his phone was pinging all the way over to where the Isle of Woe was supposedly located, and he started to get beyond worried

👑 Vil decided to try calling Yuu, who he knew you were close too. But, when they didn't call him back or give him a message, everyone noticed how it was affecting him

👑 It was so bad that the teachers gave him time off class because of how worried he was

👑 He wasn't even coming out of his room for anything, not even gifting a reaction when someone mentioned Neige being there (obviously lying, but still)

👑 By the time he received Rook's message of finding you and the others that were kidnapped, Vil was dead asleep, his room in quite a lot of disarray

👑 When he heard the sound of his door being knocked on, Vil woke up death-fully silent, he wrapped himself in a robe and hide his face behind the hood of the fluffy clothing

" (R/N), I don't care if- " " Hey Lover-Boy... WOAH. I can tell you missed me! " " Y/N?... " " Where in the name of the Great Seven were you?! You had been losing my mind! Do you know how worried I was?! " " ... ah damn... "

👑 Now you have to deal with your brother's scoldings. But, when he eventually saw the small burns from some technologies from S.T.Y.X. on you, he just smirked and complimented you

👑 And that got Epel googling on how much grief can affect someone's personality while Rook just laughs and talks about how sweet of a brother the housewarden is

🦁 As the last-born of your royal family everyone saw potential in you from the very beginning of your life

🦁 You were put on a very high pedestal, but, you were still held in a lower degree than your oldest brother Falena Kingscholar, so you and your second-oldest brother, Leona Kingscholar, and you bonded like nobody's business

🦁 It was because of your closeness that Leona was getting worried

🦁 The last time he had seen you was when you went with your friend Jack to class, so when Leona went and asked the wolf-beastman about your whereabouts and he only said he thought you went back to your dorm, he got upset

🦁 Your brother immediately grabbed his phone and messaged Ruggie, ordering him to put everything aside and issue a warning around the school; one that you were missing

🦁 That was how he found out about other students going missing, and when he learned that the magicless prefect and their cat was gone, he got angry

🦁 Was this some kind of devilish plan of theirs?!

🦁 During your time missing, he tried keeping it only known to the school, he doesn't need his and yours brother and his family to get the royal guard engaged in this, he could handle it himself

🦁 When you finally called him, Leona was curled up in his bed, contemplating ideas on where you could be

🦁 Hearing the familiar sound of your ringtone, Leona lunged for his device, holding it up to his ear to hear the sound of your voice

" Ah, Roi des Lions! Do not worry, I have old Princesse des Bêtes here with me, they're safe and sound. " " Where the hell are they you prick?! " " We're on our way back to the school, we should be back at around six heures et demie. See you then! " " Why you- DAMN IT! "

🦁 Leona stood outside the school awaiting your arrival. And while he was there with Ruggie, he gritted his teeth, allowing a bare minimum of his fangs to show

🦁 When he finally caught sight of you and saw that you had a small amount of fur along your body, he just sighed, holding you close before picking you up and dragging you to Savanaclaw

A/n: stayed true to my word this time 🫡 how ace responds to mc and grim returning tickled something in me so I needed to write a long post abt it :)

lmk if there's any mistakes!

"y/n! Griiim!" The Adeuce duo speeding down the field to where everyone's standing.

"Heya Ace! Deuce!" Grim responds happily from your arms.

You too acknowledge their arrival, "Hey guys, we're back!"

"DON'T "HEY GUYS" ME, YOU ABSOLUTE BLOCKHEAD." Ace screamed while barreling towards you.

He showed no sign of stopping and collided into you. Both you and Ace tumbled onto the field, and Grim flying out of your hands and onto the field beside you. Ace ended up straddling you, with his hands placed at the back of your head and back to prevent you from getting hurt.

Opening your mouth, ready to scold him when he bonks you and Grim hard on your heads.

"OW! Why'd you smack me too?!" Grim yelps beside you.

You clutched your head as well, groaning in pain.

"Shaddup! Be grateful I'm lettin you off easy!" He gets up, and takes your hands to pull you up as well.

Despite Ace's rather harsh treatment, there was concern in his eyes.

"Huh?!" Grim pipes up from beside you.

Deuce walks up to you and gives you a one over before he begins talking, "When we woke up, everyone was freaking out about you, Rook and Epel being gone."

Mumbling, Ace added on, "We figured you were with them..."

"But all anyone told us was that your phones were off, and that the teacher's tracking spells couldn't find you!"

"Well I couldn't sit here and do nothing..," you try to defend yourself.

Deuce looked exasperated and Ace...looked like he was about to start shouting at you again.

After everyone had made their appearance and reunited, although there was lots of shouting here and there, everyone made their way back to their dorms.

Ace didn't follow the heartslabyul group. Instead, he followed behind you and grim.

The trek back to Ramshackle was spent in silence from both you and Ace, minus the ranting that came from Grim.

Ace reached out and grabbed onto your wrist gently, effectively stopping you from taking another step.

"Grim, go ahead first. I needa talk to y/n about something first."

"Hagh? But whos going to open my can of tunas?" He piped up angrily beside you.

"Sheesh seriously," Ace ruffled his hair aggressively. "I'll give you 3 cans of tuna if you leave right now!"

"Deal!"

Grim ran up the path and into your dorm.

You turn back to face him.

During the time you were gone, Ace couldn't sit still for even a second. The fear of not knowing where you were and how you were doing was eating him alive.

He wished you had told him or left even some form of explanation as to where you went. He was worried sick.

Tightening his hold on your wrist, he moved to face you directly.

"y/n, do you like me?"

You're taken aback by his straight forwardness. Not wanting to jump to conclusions, you chose the safest option.

"Of course I do. If not, I wouldn't have tolerated you this long." You tease him to ease the tension that's building up.

"You know that's not what I mean." His stare bore into your soul.

Intertwining your fingers together, he looks back up to you and says the words that you've been wishing to hear.

"y/n, I like you. I hate the feeling of not being able to help you, console you in your darkest times and love you." A blush spreads across his cheeks. "So please, don't torture me anymore..." His voice trails off and you can't resist the looks he's giving you.

Just like before, he's pulling you in with his charm. His eyes reflecting the desperation and anxiousness of your answer.

Pulling his other hand to intertwine with yours, you move closer and give a peck to his cheek.

"You know I can't say no to you."

Giving you the biggest smile ever, he pushes his lips to yours. His hands circling around you to pull you as close as he can to his body.

On Hera and Zeus’s marriage: a rant

I’ve seen a lot people get mad at Zeus because his application of marriage in mythology is a bit more flexible than what we’re used to, while misunderstanding the theological and cultural realities that surround it

The Native Hera and the Foreign Zeus

Long ago, before what is now known as the Greek pantheon was a thing, the Greeks worshipped the goddess now known as Hera, and she was their main goddess. Some time later, another group of people, recognisable as derived from Proto-Indo-European descent through their worship of a sky father (Zeus), either conquered or merged with the existing culture of the time.

These two groups, to avoid too violent of a clash while merging, made their patron deities spouses to make the transition more smooth for everyone, effectively breaking the Proto-Indo-European pattern of sky god-earth goddess duos, while still being present to a lesser extent in the form Demeter’s brief marriage with Zeus.

Divine marriage

Now, we all know Zeus in his myths was quite a womaniser, both because of his function as an All-Father, and as his function as the representation of Ancient Greek patriarchal society where men could have as many extramarital affairs and women could not. Note the fact that this was completely allowed and accepted in Ancient Greece, and that other male deities with known spouses still slept around without their wives getting angry (eg Poseidon and Dionysus).

Why is that so? One could simply dismiss this by saying that Hera is just “being jealous”, but the answer is deeper than the surface level.

The marriage of Zeus and Hera is meant to be egalitarian, meaning that they occupy the same position and receive the same amount of honour in Olympian society, and Hera, as defender and mistress of Olympus, has to constantly check whether or not there is a breach of that egalitarian semi-open marriage or an attack on her honours as both queen of the gods and equal partner of Zeus.

Now, Hera is well-known for her fury against Zeus’s mistresses, and while this may seem funny/tragic to people, it’s not rlly ALL of them that had that treatment. The only ones of Zeus’s mistresses (that I know of) that received any kind of attack from Hera were Leto, Alcmene and Semele. (This ill reputation of Hera as a jealous wife might mostly be due to Heracles, but we’ll get back to him later)

Leto and Semele

Leto was one of Zeus’s previous wives before Hera came in power, and she conceived her children, Apollo and Artemis after Zeus and Hera got married (UPG). Semele was a mortal princess from a very important family line, who Zeus took a liking to and came down to often, even swearing to her on the river Styx to give her anything she wanted. This could tickle Hera the wrong way for 2 reasons: Leto, a previous queen, and Semele, a mortal, may have started to feel proud of Zeus’s special attention, and that their children (Apollo & Artemis, and Dionysus respectively) were destined to eventually enter her home due to them being very important. The first point could just be a reminder of Hera’s supremacy as Queen of Heaven, and sends a clear message: “Just because the King gives you special favours doesn’t mean you are above, or better than me”.

The trials that face Heracles, Apollon and Dionysus (ie madness followed by redemption, Python, and a period of madness respectively) could therefore be tests to prove their worth and proof that Zeus did not waste his time and energy making children unfit to integrate the Olympian family without some pushback. Zeus famously spent 3 days conceiving Heracles, whose famous fate at the hands of Hera could be seen as trials in her honour, as evidenced by his name which means “the glory of Hera”. When he ascends to Olympus, he even goes as far as marrying Hera’s daughter, Hebe.

Conclusion

Hera is not a jealous wife, and her marriage with Zeus is certainly not dysfunctional. They love each other deeply (see: the foundation myth of the Daidala festival) and their relationship is certainly not something to be questioned or made fun of. Honouring Hera properly means honouring Zeus, and vice-versa.

So one thing I’d really like to see (but honestly don’t think I will) is Percy and Nico really reconcile. I know they had this little “clear the air” moment when Nico admitted he had previously had a crush on Percy, but to be honest that was never really the problem with their relationship.

Percy is a great character who I do love and love to route for, but it always bothered me how terrible he was to Nico. I realize Nico tricked Percy ONCE in an attempt to get information about his mother (shortly after he lost his sister no less) but even made Hades promise not to hurt Percy. He also more than made up for it (apologizing, leading Percy to the Styx, convincing his father to raise an army of the dead) and Percy continues to bring it up and tell other people about it, giving them a bad impression of Nico before even meeting them even though Percy knows Nico already has issues relating to others and making friends.

He’s just such a nice character but seems to have no empathy towards Nico (Literally choking him after Nico tricks him, admitting to Nico he doesn’t think he’ll ever fit in at camp half blood, considering throwing bread at him so Nico would stop groaning after going through literal hell and being locked in an airless jar for weeks, etc.) Meanwhile Nico keeps doing Percy massive favors and consistently fighting by Percy’s side. He goes through Tartarus, leads the remaining 7 to the doors of death, Shadow travels the Athena Parthenos to camp even though it might kill him, etc all for Percy and for camp half blood, even though neither have ever accepted him. Percy will take his aid but never treats Nico as a friend. For most of the books not only does Nico have a crush on Percy but Percy is really his only connection to the living world, the only human interaction he really gets. It’s just kind of tragic to see him treated this was by a character that’s usually kind and sociable.

It doesn’t seem like Percy realizes he’s doing it and Nico doesn’t seem to realize Percy is mistreating him. I want it called out in world as a point of self reflection for Percy and a point of self worth and healing for Nico. I like the idea of them being genuine friends after all this time but I really can’t see it without that realization and acknowledgment.

Okay, I don't know if it will spark or not your creativity but if not don't worry, I got PLENTY of inspiration, first of all I'm an idia stan so you can expect a lot of idia and platonic ortho with me x)

So could I please ask for idia with a gn or fem s/o, whatever you wish, and his s/o never understood why blot is considered dangerous as they/she was raised by a blot entity that took a liking to them/her (and of course the blot had some brain left) and plot twist being so exposed to blot made them/her a chimeria half human half blot ! (Ortho is shown to be able to sense blot so maybe ortho was curious why they/she had such an high level of constant blot without overblotting) bonus point if /!\ chapter 6 and 7 spoiler /!\ idia bring her to styx and somehow get found out by his parents and have to explain why does he date a chimeria half blot, and how they/she are so polite

You met Idia when you were fairly young, outside of his family's estate. You were playing in the forest nearby and he heard your cheerful laughter. Leaving his stuffed toys on the front lawn and out the gates, he ventured through the trees. Ortho was inside taking a nap so he was on his own, with only the sunlight guiding him.

But then

He saw you.

you looked so sweet, dancing around a small clearing in the woods. He didn't notice the blot monster lurking nearby, focusing only on you and how your laughter rung in his ears.

You heard a twig snap and gasped, finally noticing the blue haired boy. You looked at him curiously, not very spooked as to see he was a child, like you! You smiled and waved, walking over to him.

He took a step back, and you a step forward. Back, forward, back, forward, back until you had his back against a tree. You leaned in closely to admire him, his breath hitched.

"hi! My name's (name)! What's yours?"

You said, taking his hand in yours and shaking it. It took him a moment to process what was going on.

"uhm.. idia.." he replied quietly. You giggled and led him back to the small clearing "nice too meet you Idia! Would you like to play with me?"

"..sure.."

And thats were your friendship started

He'd often come over for play dates and the like, back before Ortho had the incident. His parents often wondering where he was going but didn't stop him. knowing the forest was safe and it was nearby, plus they had the tracking chip and his cellphone Incase he needed them.

But he did eventually Introduce you to his family, and boy were his parents surprised. They were wary of you at first but slowly warmed up, seeing you had no Ill intent but you did seem different from most kids.. you seemed sweet although, where were your parents?

Ortho loved you right away! He'd follow you and Idia everywhere! Playing, laughing, and laying on the grass admiring the stars.

You were there for him through everything, comforting him, giving him advice and listened to his woes.

You were his saviour, his safe space, never questioning why your blood was darker than most, unnaturally so. Your skin seeming sickly in a way. Or that strange feeling of dread he'd get when you came too close.

Eventually, he had to leave for nrc. You were upset ofcourse but you wanted him to be successful, promising him you'd be here when he came back.

And through those 4 years, you'd wait for him. The first to greet him when he'd come back from Winter break or summer vacation. The first to take him into your arms and tell him how much you missed him. The first person he'd rant to about the year.

But now he knew why he always felt strange when you'd get too close. Why you seemed different.. no, are different... He'd seen it in his fellow schoolmates.

You weren't fully human.. were you, sweetheart?

When he confronted you, you didn't know how to respond. Knowing you couldn't hide it forever but at the same time afraid of losing the one you held close. blurting it all out through tears, he finally pieced everything together. Getting the closure he needed after all these years

he held you close, shaky hands hesitantly petting your head. Now you were the one needing to be comforted. Telling him about how your parents dissapeared one night and were left all alone in your cabin in the woods, until a blot monster found you. Taking you in and raising you as its own, having been exposed to it for so many years it wasn't a surprise that it tainted your human genetics.

You cried about how you never went to a school, or a doctor, never having been let far from the forest. He nodded and squeezes you softly, calming down a bit as the only noises leaving your lips now we're hiccups and sniffling.

You were something completely different from him. A new interspecies that should be examined, something incredibly rare. But he didn't have the heart to do that to you. You were far too special, you needed to be protected.

"I promise.. to keep you s-safe and warm.. for the rest of our lives.. I've loved you for so long, (name)-chan.. I want to be with you.. s-so please accept my love..?"

His voice surprised you, looking up at him with wife curious eyes.

He said it so unsurely, you couldn't help but smile and nod your head. Burying your face into his chest, while he finally noticed the blot creature watching you both. It nodded it's head in approval and dissapeared into the dark. The dread was gone, Being replaced with happiness and relief. He picked you up and hurriedly took you into his family's mansion. Laughing loudly.

He was glad he was brave the day he met you, wandering away from his comfort zone. Otherwise, he doubted he'd have someone so perfect in his arms

(CW:BOOK 7 & 6 SPOILERS!!!!) This is gonna be a long rant post, yall.... In honor of Book 7 PT.1 finally releasing on the English server, and as someone who is waiting for Book 7 to continue on the Japanese server, I make this post to ask : When tf is Idia gonna wake up??? 😭😭😭 Like I know I did not burn through all my resources (i.e Starshards, honey, spellbooks, gems) during Book 6 to AT LEAST attempt to defeat the Magma and Earth Titan (I had better cards on the Leona & Jamil's team), to say nothing of OB!Idia, only for him to be put on the sidelines and the only sense of help during this chapter from Ignihyde was from Ortho. And even then, there's no update on outside help from Ignihyde after Ortho leaving from STYX. Similat to Sebek, when will he at least get a vision of his survivor's guilt past of when Ortho was attacked and slain by that Phantom when they were younger and realize that it was all a blissful lie (i.e a dream) and attempt to wake himself up? Like can we please already end this historical fantasy drama B.S we're in??? Thank you and good night.

omg I just finished 2x12 and i'm gonna do a debrief/rant

okay so for maybe like the first 1/2 to 3/4 of the ep it was kinda meh to me but then later it got so good and dean was so unhinged loll.

and i think the 2 uses of music at the end, first when they (sam and dean) were escaping in the swat gear and Renegade Styx is playing but it's the slow bit

and then when they're sitting in the impala and it gets more upbeat and stuff (idk sorry i dropped music in yr 8) and dean goes "we're screwed" OH MY GODDDDDDDD LIKE AHHHHHH

AND THEN THEY DRIVE OFF AND IT ENDS LIKE THATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

F: (warningly) Minos,

M: –stringing thou along on empty promises of better fates. "Your work is admirable," he said, but when the chips are down thou art but a sinner to him. Lamentable how thy devotion to him is in vain.

[The Ferryman, who have been glaring at Minos for the better part of his rant, lunges. With an inhuman roar, they shove him against the railing of the deck. The Ocean Styx churns underneath]

MINOS: Hath thou came before me, thou would have been sent to Heaven. This is no fate for such a soul as thine.

FERRYMAN: It is fine. It's enough.

MINOS: It is not. Oh, dear, it is not at all.

Through the curtain of rain, they saw, standing on the dock and glowing with impossible life–

"Minos. I remember delivering you to your layer. Why have you abandoned it for this forsaken place?"

The prime soul before them hesitated. "There is nothing of Lust but shadows and mistakes now. I found myself unable to face the corpse of my kingdom, and so I left."

(Later in their companionship they'll learn that this was a lie. He came to Wrath because despite everything, he is still the Judge of Hell and he has sentenced many for the same murderous vengeance that he seeked)

Prompt: I have always loved the idea that both Percy and Nico come to the same person to rant about how much they pine for each other but they can’t be together be they are dumbasses, and it’s always Jason due to him typically being their third of their trio, but do want to know who I think would be funnier? Frank, who is Nico’s sister’s boyfriend and who is distantly related to Percy. I can see them both going to frank because 1) Frank is just an overall sweet guy who will you can kinda just talk to with having any snappy comments in return (you know characters like Annabeth, Leo and Jason would absolutely make fun of the both of them) and 2) frank is lowkey a pushover and would absolutely not be able to stand up to Percy and Nico using him as an emotional bucket to dump into. Frank is over here suffering just wondering how he got roped into this mess of a relationship.

Frank Zhang often wondered what had landed him in this position.

Maybe he was too nice, maybe he needed to practice saying 'no' once in a while, maybe he had been unlucky enough.

His bet was on him making a dumb comment once after walking in on something he shouldn't have.

It had been early in the morning and he had been going on his way to the senate, when he saw Percy's back as he leaned against someone suggestively.

Now, he knew it wasn't Annabeth, as they had broken up a while ago, but the way Percy covered the other person with his body was a little too intimate for the public street, at least in his opinion.

"Please don't do that in public," he had said before noticing, and Percy jumped to separate himself from... his future brother-in-law, Nico di Angelo.

"We weren't doing anything!" Percy had shouted, face red. "Just... talking about breakfast!"

Nico nodded quickly, as red as Percy.

Frank nodded carefully, fully prepared to move on and try to forget this ever happened, unaware that he had signed his death sentence.

"And he just... doesn't notice!" Percy said, frustrated. "I have tried everything, telling him he looks nice, invinting him to dinner, I even touched his ass!"

Frank looked around, hoping no one in the bistro had heard his friend/distant uncle, but was disappointed when he caught a few people looking at them discreetly.

"Just... he'll never see me as anything but a friend," he said, sulking.

"You know, you could be direct with him," he tried. "Just tell him how you feel."

Percy looked at him as if he had gone crazy.

"Are you insane? What if he doesn't feel the same?" Percy said. Frank was vaguely aware that his cofee with milk had gone cold a while ago. "It will ruin our friendship! I rather have Nico as a friend that not have him at all!"

Frank groaned. This was a test, maybe by his father to see if he would finally kill his nemesis. But Frank didn't have it in him to be that ruthless, and Percy was one of his closest friends...

"If only there was a way to know what he thought about me," he lamented, making the Praetor bite his tongue.

Yeah, if only someone could tell him that Nico felt the same... someone who hadn't been sworn to secrecy.

He had had to brush up his mythology trivia after he hadn't remembered what swearing by the Styx meant twice.

"Well, I need to get to class." Percy sighed and finished his cold cofee in one quick gulp. "Thanks for listening, Frank, you're the best."

The son of Mars gave a feeble smile and waved him off.

He paid for his part of the bill and went towards the fields of Mars, where he bumped into Nico.

"Frank," he greeted, face inescrutable like always. "Nice seeing you today."

"Uh, same," he said lamely. "I'm actually on my way to oversee some training drills so..."

"Are you free for lunch?" Nico asked, looking like he didn't care. Frank paled, but nodded after Nico stared at him intensely. "Great, the usual place, then?"

"O-okay..."

Hazel had been overjoyed over him spending more time with Nico. Having the most important men in her life be friends was everything to her.

If she knew why they hung out so much however... maybe she'd feel some pity for him.

"I just... can't understand him," Nico said, groaning into his pasta. Frank counted his blessings that at least Nico was much quieter. "Like, he touched me... inappropriately, yesterday, but after I asked he just said his hand slipped."

When Percy had chosen him as his confidante, he had said it was because they were friends, and since Percy had helped him get together with Hazel, so Frank felt as if he owed him.

Nico, though? He had been blunt and honest. He had just said, "you saw, please help me," and Frank was still very intimidated by the son of Hades to say no.

"And at this point, maybe he's telling the truth!" Nico exclaimed. "Maybe it's all in my head! I mean, Percy has always been a very touchy person, it... it could mean nothing..."

"Maybe you are the one that needs to be forward?" he tried for the second time that day. "Don't tell him what you feel, just say how it comes off as and confront him."

"What if he denies it?" Nico asked. "I... I couldn't take the rejection... At least like this, I can pretend that he likes me like I like him."

Frank busied himself with his steak to not comment. Nico sighed again and took a sip of his wine.

"I don't say this often but, thank you for listening," Nico said earnestly. "You're a good friend, Frank."

Frank gritted his teeth as he gave a forced smile.

"Anytime, Nico."

It wasn't like he could say no.

"Also," Frank said loudly to the Legion. Hazel raised an eyebrow, that was all they had discussed for their daily activities. "Any children or Legacies of Mercury or Hermes should speak with me before dinner. Dismissed."

The Legion saluted and marched.

"What was that about?" Hazel asked curiously.

"I need someone capable of forging handwriting," he said.

Now Hazel was really worried.

"You're not getting into anything dangerous, are you?"

"Huh? No! Don't worry!" he reassured her quickly. "It's the opposite, I'm getting out of a messy situation."

Hazel looked at her boyfriend's expression and relaxed a little.

"Is it one of those situations you could get out of if you just said 'no'?" She asked knowingly. Frank stayed silent. "Oh, Frank..."

"It will be better for everyone, not just me," he said. "Hopefully."

And hazel could only pray he was right.

countless hours of studying, flashcards, conversing with other students, going through every book in the library, and what did you score? 49%.

all your hard work, down the drain. youre back, neck, shoulders ached from your hunched position when you were studying, your eyes red and drooping, practically begging for sleep. all for 49%.

walking to ramshackle was tiring, trudging along, dragging your feet. when you were inside, you dropped your bag onto the floor carelessly which was sure to bite you in the ass later, falling backwards onto the couch that saw your countless nights of studying. grim sat on your stomach, staring down at you, your arm draped over your eyes.

"henchman? whats wrong?" grim said, almost sounding worried. you forced a tight smile, voice cracking whilst fighting off tears behind your arm, "oh, nothing just..tired. so tired.." you sighed.

there was a knock at the door, raising your arm to look at the door. it went silent. then there was another knock. you couldnt leave them waiting.

"coming, coming. grim, get off," you pick him off your stomach, placing him down on your previous spot on the couch as you walked over to the door, tripping over your bag. you groaned, biting your cheek to hold back an angry cry.

finally getting to the door, you opened it, "oh, riddle, hi." you looked down at the boy, "something wrong?"

"i wanted to talk to you about that previous test. may i come in?" he spoke, posture straight and voice as strict and condescending as usual.

"oh..alright." you stepped out the way. riddle walked past you, looking around.

"..you really havent done much to the dorm?" he spoke. you shrugged, not really interested in answering. he turned around to face you, watching you close the door, "so, your score on the test. what was it again?"

you groaned, looking away, "49%, nothing big, i get it, your smart, im not, what else do you wanna shove in my face?" you ranted, "that i wont succeed? that me hanging around ace and deuce damages my head? wanna prove im some kinda– wreck?" you flailed your arms around, anger rising in your chest as you spoke.

"what? great seven, no, i came to offer help for your studies!" riddle tried to speak but you were finally breaking down your walls.

"oh, cause im- im just an idiot, right? cant do a simple test, you think- you think im not smart right? im just another student slacking off!" youre voice raised, tears welling in your eyes

"prefect, calm yourself! what is this behaviour?" riddle spoke, hand on his chest. he sounded like an overbearing, snobby parent.

"shut up, i dont– i dont care! i really dont- j-just shut- up! i get it, i cant do something so simple, leave me a-alone!" you finally cried, yelling at the red head who stared, shocked at your state.

"prefect, i never said such a thing. why would i?" riddle stepped closer, wary.

"i- just-" you sobbed, beginning to shake, knees threatening to give out. you tried to regulate your breathing, "im really just- gonna fail..! great seven, i- fuck–" your knees finally gave up on supporting your weight. riddle hurried over, trying to catch you before you fell, but not really helping your fall. he slowly lowered himself to the ground, along with you, sitting in silence. he listened to you cry, all the while holding your shaking hands with his own.

when youd seemed to calm, he raised a hand, gently wiping away your tears with his finger, "prefect, i understand your fear. it must have been hard. you look so tired, how long were you studying?"

you sniffled, "i couldnt a-answer," your voice shook, body seeming to shiver as you spoke.

"my dear," he raised his other hand, holding your face gently, "you tried tremendously hard. but now, i say its time for a break. i think a cup of tea and a slice of tart is just what you need," he gently tucked strands of loose hair behind your ear.

blinking away excess tears, you spoke quietly, "i-id like that. yeah." you smiled softly, riddle doing the same.

"you are smart, do not forget it. and if you do, ill remind you again. remember it for me."
