Apparently Rogue's character is "ruined" for being interested in Magneto and for not lovin' Gambit the "right" way while he also has previous love interests and an ex-wife in XTAS *blocks and side-eyes blogs like remylebeaugambit* Makes me embarrassed to be a Remy fan rn.

If so-called Rogue fans are so uncomfortable with legal adult Rogue being attracted to Magneto in various media , maybe they should read a Kitty Pryde comic instead or stick to just watching that (actually pretty good ngl) high school AU that is X-Men: Evolution.

Heck, even Sid the sloth from the Ice Age movies gets less slack for dating the much older Brooke who also got magically de-aged just like Magneto. And nobody's saying that Sid is a victim and Brooke is a groomer because the Ice Age fandom is more normal than Rogneto antis and so-called fans of Rogue and Gambit's characters.

Agreed and well met, Traveler! I loved X-Men: Evolution as well. I'm fine with characters having many ships. I'm fond of calling it an armada. :) And my own personal cry is: Monogamy? In this economy?!

I agree with you: the age discourse is just awful. It's so upsetting to me. It's the most basic, reductive, simplistic argument. You can count the years but you add no value or depth to them.

It's not about Rogue being ruined it is about Rogue being ruined for *them*. Reading literacy and comprehension as well as looking at texts dialectically (at the least) is on the wane. You couple this with a strange "purity of concept" that seems to permeate our media, and we get this issue.

If you like a character, then that character is a statement on *you*, *your integrity*, *your morals*, *your ability* to be right. Therefore Rogue doing something against the perceived norm of the story (a story with low stakes, mind. We're less comfortable living in a state of unknowing even more these days) is not only an insult to Remy, but it is also an insult to them, their viewership, their expectations of the character, and ultimately a reflection of themselves.

We see then the knee-jerk reaction to distance, define, and denigrate. Suddenly, we're as obsessed with purity of character and dictating their "best practice" motives. They have to find a way to explain away the fault. Sometimes it's pushed back on the writers (especially if the writer is female...thinking Rebecca Sugar here and the SU writing pool) but often (especially for female presenting characters) the blame is shifted on a literal thought concept. It's insane!

X-Men is a soap opera with powers. Also, the most important thing to remember in my book is the main core of it: the X-Men are people. Not gods (sorry Krakoan Magneto, still love you, baby) but human beings who wish to coexist with you.

So finally, Spinel confirms with Condor and 83 that she’s going to go ahead with the first mission proposal. And just as a recap; her first mission is to retrieve 83’s favourite toolset, a gift from Pink Diamond stolen from the armoury by 83’s sisters Pnicto and Britt. Spinel and Steven will head off to their new destination now, and Chapter 3 will be about their first real adventure!

And, like it says on the page �� that’s all for Chapter 2!!! Thank you all SOOO much for sticking around this long!!! Chapter 2 may have been shorter than Chapter 1, but unfortunately due to delays, schoolwork and the amount of detail per page, it ended up taking way longer than Chapter 1 did… but honestly? I’m not mad about it!!! Looking back on Chapter 1 I can clearly see how my art has evolved and improved, and I’m actually very happy!!! In the end, I got there, didn’t I? And I’m so proud of the reception, the fanart and all the comments I’ve got!!!

literally made a hater post just to talk about stuff in the sonic series that I dont like ❤️ if you don't like this post then fuck you block and/or blow me. this is disorganized as fuck btw and i dont care

sonic frontiers was the best mainline sonic game in over a decade but thats really not saying much

i think tangle is kinda boring and whispangle is kinda boring by proxy. whispers cool tho

surge is the best rival sonic character since blaze and the only thing dragging her down is that sonic in the idw comics kinda sucks as a character

its great that we are getting more female characters in idw and the games but quite a lot of them are kinda boring and we still need more female villains

metal sonic is basically nothing but a jobber in idw rn and its really depressing

idw please treat the babylon rogues better, theyre goofy characters with serious storylines just like basically every other sonic character, stop making them NOTHING but a joke

lanolin is an interesting character, yall just cant handle women who are even SLIGHTLY rude to a fan favorite character

the worst part of idw is that its tied to game canon because they cant shake up the status quo too much or have character arcs for most of the main characters

rouge is ABSOLUTELY a sexualized character and always has been. learn to like a character despite the faults in how they are portrayed or shut up about it

sally was the best canon romantic partner for sonic and you cant change my mind

the second worst part of idw is the titular character himself

i dislike surg/amy because of the age difference andalso the fact that everyone wants to disregard surges character to have her be redeemed

if sega is going to keep teasing son/amy then they should just stop dancing around it and make them canon already, make the shippers happy and get the drawn out agony over with for the rest of us. also age amy up for the love of allthat is holy

also, sega should stop ship teasing ships they have no intention of making canon in general, its shitty and edges into queerbaiting when done with gay ships

the above does not apply to whispangle

idw art is overall much much MUCH better than any other sonic comic and its not even a contest

there are a lot of things i disagree with about the current state and direction of this franchise but we are in a much better place than we were even just two years ago and we should be glad for all this success

the worst parts of archie are the most atrocious things that this franchise has ever put out, in art, storytelling, basic morality, etc.

most of the popular ships in this fandom suck ass

unless sega stops rushing sonic team and actually gives some resources to them we are never going to get better than 7/10 games. corporations are not your friends and you dont have to thank them for giving you a mid product

sega should have been sued into oblivion for the literal seizure inducing state sonic colors ultimate was released in and we should never, ever let them forget it

remain skeptical about every single sonic game until release, we've had "WERE SO BACK" moments before that turned out to befalse

the edm in sonic frontiers cyberspace slaps but isnt as memorable as previous sonic soundtracks

stop ghosting sonics friends (sonic frontiers, sonic prime, sonic dream team) its kinda weird and puts way too much importance on sonic again. this is a good cast, USE THEM

sonic frontiers dlc being hard wasnt a bad thing, the jank, glitches, and lack of fairness were bad things that tarnished the experience

the games have never ever been properly translated from japanese into english and that is just an objective fact. but also dont shit on people for only having interest in the english version, you have to go WAY out of your way to get a good translation and that's on the franchise, not the fans

this franchise's "canon" has been fucked since the original classic games, trying to fix it in the sense that you can somehow make every little detail perfect is a lost cause. just pick and choose what you like

of all the characters that deserve a game to themselves blaze deserves it the most. girlie has a whole other dimension that we could explore can you IMAGINE an open world game in the sol dimension COME ON

if lots of people are criticizing something you like then you should give some consideration to the fact that they may have some points instead of just disregarding it as people being nitpicky and nasty. you dont have to listen to it but if you dont do that then you cant dismiss it out of hand either

the stories of sa1 and sa2 arent even the best stories in this franchise

06 sucks ass and no amount of "potential" means jackshit when it comes to actual quality. if we're just evaluating "potential" then congratulations everything ever made is a quality product have fun with that

its okay to games with goofier and lighthearted stories

i prefer amys hammer to the cards

let this franchise have its edge back. but also let sonic be cute. they arent mutually exclusive

keep good physics and momentum in the games for the love of god please its what this franchise was built on

sega of japan may do characterization better but the closest brushes to death that this franchise has ever had (Dreamcast, 06, Forces) were all on them as well

this might be the hottest take of all time but sonic team shares some of the blame in how a lot of sonic games turn out very bad, its not all on sega

stating that some sonic-inspired games (spark the electric jester and freedom planet) or sonic fan games (project 06) have turned out better than actual sonic games is kind of objectively correct but youre a dick if you say it just to make sonic fans feel bad about the games or themselves

if you ONLY consume sonic media you need to branch out more. for your own health please

flynn is neither the worst person to ever walk the surface of this planet or gods gift to the sonic fandom, practice some moderation in your opinions people

sonic frontiers open world biomes are boring and nowhere close to most open world games, even ones from a decade ago

ryan drummond was the best english va, but jason got the better scripts. roger is getting better and most of the work hes been given is just. bad. so i dont feel okay judging his work. but he is my least favorite

gameplay>story when it comes to the actual games, every time. if you have a good story to tell its only hampered by being in a shitty game

worst game in the series is sonic colors ultimate. say what you will about 06, forces, rise of lyric, or whatever other game. at least they werent literally physically dangerous to play

all the main female characters in the games are asskickers, they just need to be utilized more. as does every member of the supporting cast

How much are you guys bothered by the "everyone is royalty" stuff from Archie Comics?

It seems like if the character were important, they would become royalty in some point! THAT'S SOO BORING!!

We start it good having only Sally and later Sonic because he's her destined boyfriend or some nonsense... And Antoine being only highly related to the royalty because royal guard father and stuff.

But then comes Amy, who's cousin of Rob, who's a king.

We had an entire issue focused only in reveal that Charmy is a prince 🤣🤣🤣🤣 and I can't be serious talking about it.

We had also Khan, I won't lie, I liked him... Until the point when he was revealed as the "King of the Free People" or some bullshit

We had Shadow becoming King Shadow in the Light Mobius alternate future.

We had Scourge becoming King Scourge, doing in Moebius what Shadow would do if wasn't Sally's interference.

Being the guardian of the Master Emerald seems a political role equivalent to monarchy, because God, they had even a council formed by the predecessors.

Espio is son of the leader of a clan (Bride of whatever), what's almost a queen since together they had enough impact to REJECT Snively's girlfriend's reign.

I wonder how it would follow 🤔🤔🤔...

Like, would later be revealed that "Silver's the, for long waited, destined king of the Knights of Kronos and that's why he's above time alterations and distortions"?

Honestly, in the pace the stuff was following, I wouldn't get surprised if Vector's "huge secret" was that he was a denying prince from Downunda all along.

Weren't the Babylon Rogues related to the Battle Bird Armada and the BattleLORD Kuku _insert roman numerals_ ?

Who do you guess that would manage the countries for him?

Julie-Su was daughter of the leader of the Dark Legion, right? He was like an emperor, wasn't he?

Tails' parents' arc was basically being jealous from the king's power and wanting a little and you can't change my mind.

And then they allowed Naugus to become the king 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Pais do Ano.

New(ish) Comics:

Batman #138: I’m reading this again as this is just such a great comic. Seriously Zdarsky, well done. So many different fight details here. I particularly noticed Bruce is demonstrating super-strength on this read for some reason – he breaks both Dick’s escrima stick and Tim’s bo staff, he rips the door off a car (??!!). There are so many neat details of ‘something is seriously wrong with Bruce’ here.

Blue Beetle #2: I like the note here that Booster is taking Ted away to heal somewhere else in time. I also enjoyed that all the JLI folk instantly nominated Tora to go comfort Jaime. And finally, I am delighted to see characters finally suspicious of Victoria Kord because! I have been so sus on her! Since her first appearance in Graduation Day! Her vibes are indeed off! (And it’s not just the clear autism – I do not get nearly these levels of ‘when do you turn out to be an evil plant’ from say Dani Garrett, who is also intensely female autistic about the scarab and her grandfather)

Birds of Prey #2: The art in this comic remains immaculate. I love the x-ray, out of panel drawings for passing between the ‘real’ world and the magical world. In terms of the plot – I’m still not 100% in here trust wise, but Thompson is winning me over, issue by issue, by reassuring me she understands the characters and is making considered decisions to justify why this lineup. I really really think they screwed themselves a bit with the way they announced the lineup – the vibes in the comic itself are far more clear on who’s a long term choice (Cass, Barda) and who are more likely ‘this storyline only’ choices (Harley, Zealot).

Fire & Ice: Welcome to Smallville #2: This continues to make me so happy in its level of fun and metacommentary. I love the collection of villains, because there’s one existing rogue in each line (Beefeater, Maxie Zeus, Gentleman Ghost) and the six new ones, though admittedly Linka and King of Cats are somewhat linked to existing characters/mantles. The goof levels are off the charts (I lost it at the “Guns don’t kill people. I kill people” line) Anyway come for Bea and Tora remaining extremely ‘on a break’ as they definitely don’t date…uh…siblings, stay for the shenanigans. Maybe Bea and Tora will finally get to kiss in issue #6 (the kiss will obviously be a cheek peck or an accident during a fight scene or something)

Shazam! #4: Garguax the Distressing, Emperor of the MOON! I love him. He’s so silly. Chew on the scenery a bit more, Garguax! Also Billy manages to avoid mind control by realising he’s about to have his first ever kiss with a bee supervillain and deciding he’s not cool with that. Go you, Billy. This comic remains deeply committed to serious silliness and Silver Age vibes (Mark Waid. Dan Mora. Do we need to enforce the ‘one gorilla a month’ rule from the 1970s on you?) which is exactly what I want from the Shazamily. Also Darla appeared, my beloved.

Warlord #22: this week in Skartaris Travis was fighting a werewolf! I would pretend this was a surprise revelation on the very last page, but given someone turned up and shot a silver arrow during the very first fight scene, let’s just say this revelation was signalled.

In addition to the amusement I always get when archery occurs in this title, Grell enjoyed two full pages of serpent bondage scenes. Enjoy some assorted scenes.

Do you prefer your Riddler to know Batman's secret (Like in Hush) or still be obsessed with the big riddle?

This is a very fun question because ORIGINALLY when I created this blog. My Eddie didn't know Batman's identity. This is because I actually love the idea that Eddie could easily figure it out. BUT. He refuses to because he projects his father on to Batman. He likes to think of Batman as his father so he can get "revenge" on him. Plus, Batman reminds Eddie so much of his old man. If Eddie knew what face was under the cowl, it could ruin that fantasy for him.

HOWEVER

When I created this blog nearly 3 years ago, I haven't read Hush yet. After reading it, and after thinking about how Eddie came close to figuring out Batman's identity in Ark Origins. I reconsidered it. Hush introduced a very good idea that was immediately discarded by DC because they're creatively bankrupt and only rely on already popular characters for quick bucks. That was Eddie being a mastermind like character. And you see. Many of the other rogues are also super smart. While sometimes Eddie is credited as one of the / the smartest villain. It just doesn't really... make him special compared to the other rogues who are BOTH smart AND fighters/strong. Intelligence is literally all Eddie has. I feel if Eddie knew Batman's identity, it can show you how special his brand of intelligence is compared to some of the other Super Smart Villains. It can also make Eddie into more of a mastermind character as I've stated before. This could've made for interesting comics where Eddie fucked with Bruce's personal life. (Plus it wouldn't have been too sus, given that Bruce is the richest man in Gotham - most would assume Eddie was just doing it for wealth and recognition)

In my lore, Hush is mostly canon. Just because I feel it's a big feat to give Eddie some cred as a threat in the underground. (As well as showing off his manipulation skills) and well... since I have ideas for a fancomic or something, the Hush plot will become Relevant again eventually.

So, by default - my Eddie knows Bruce is Batman. The only times I write him as not knowing is when I'm writing with a Bruce/Batman and I haven't asked them if they're cool with that yet. My Ed also won't tell anyone the Secret though just for the same reasons in Hush - doesn't wanna potentially get in trouble with Rai's and his league of assassins.

Thoughts on Archie writers not named Penders or Flynn?

Karl Bollers aka “Benny Lee” - I liked most of his stuff, especially Return to Angel Island. Dan Slott - He introduced Zonic, who was cool. Most of his stuff was just the random crossovers like Sally Moon so that's just "eh, whatever". Danny Fingeroth - Only wrote two issues but those were the Heart of the Hedgehog story, which would eventually lead to Shard near the end of the preboot's run. Kinda wish he wrote more than just that one story for Sonic.

Michael Gallagher - His stuff was pretty hit or miss, that's all I got to say on him. Angelo DeCesare - He gave us the first Mecha Sally; otherwise his stuff was just there.

Tracy Yardley - Liked the Babylon Rogues SU arc, didn't really care for Pirate Plunder Panic. Mike Kanterovich - Never did strictly his own work, instead just worked with Penders during his time on Archie so I can't tell what was his and what was Penders.

Jay Oliveras - Wrote Ghost Busted in SSS #8 and Cry of the Wolf in #113, both of which were just adaptations of SatAM episodes.

Joey Esposito - Wrote a single story in #264 and that was it. Aleah Baker - She wrote the story that introduced Clove and Cassia. Other than that I don't really remember what else she wrote. Evan Stanley - Wrote the Silver Age SU arc; didn't really care for the comic version of Von Schlemmer but I liked what little we got of Gold the Tenrec. Frank Strom - Introduced Monkey Khan and his side cast; never cared for his stuff. Scott Fulop - He was...there, usually under the pen name Kent Taylor. Scott Shaw - Wrote Tails' Tallest Tale from the Sonic In Your Face special which was a pretty typical story at that point in the comic's history. Paul Castiglia - Wrote two stories, one in #30 which was just slapstick involving Coconuts and Bunnie, and one in #70 which had Sonic reflecting on the fate of Sandblast City after he and Tails fled. I liked both of them. Tom Rolston - wrote that random Discovery Zone story in #52 as a homage to Casablanca. Also wrote The Map from SSS #1 which had Antoine being awesome and wrote Stop... Sonic Time! in the first Sonic Kids special (SSS #5), which was about Sonic giving Tails his shoes as a present while Dr. Robotnik tried to freeze time itself. Overall, just weird.

to preface i do not dream of live action comic adaptations i think all comic adaptations should either not exist or be animated... but if i had to do an x-men movie, i would choose the '92 rooster since it's so iconic.

the idea of dev patel cyclops is SOOOOOO. he's got that lanky awkward boy swag AND the capacity of telling someone to go fuck themselves....

after watching severance i could really see britt lower play jean... she's got such an emotional range i love her.

I've seen deborah ayorinde as storm a lot, and i remember her performance in Luke Cage which i really liked!

i have no idea who should play Logan. i think he should be cgi no real man should be allowed to play him. not after Hugh Jackman... maybe aidan turner with the way he looked in the city of bones movie? they can cgi him to be 5'3.

while i was excited for mmx when it first came out i really came to hate it over the time i spent reading it and never finished it. now when i think about it i just get angrier and angrier.

I didn’t like it for 2 main reasons:

1. i felt it made rogue and gambit super boring which is a cardinal sin bc they’re super fun, chaotic characters. this trend is continuing to this day in comics 2. it shit the bed so hard on how rogue’s powers work i blacked out

that second thing really shouldn’t surprise me given what thompson pulled with rogue in her captain marvel run which was utterly non-fucking-sensical. there’s very little i hate more than the constant lack of understanding of how rogue’s powers work.

there’s an implied psychological element to rogue’s lack of control and that’s been there since the 80s. i personally ascribe to it being a 50/50 psychological and physical situation, like when people get super strength and then have to learn how to control it so they don’t tear things apart. it’s just that rogue has the issue that she can’t practice control without risking someone’s life so she can’t gain that mental muscle memory. but that’s just my look at it because that’s what i think is the most interesting.

even if you look at it as a purely psychological issue that means of resolution does not work for a post uncanny avengers. it made sense when xavier went in and rebooted her system or whatever but in uncanny avengers wanda says that some part of absorbing all those powers “short-circuited” her powers which reads to me as due to physiological overload, not a psychological issue.

so even if it originally was a purely psychological issue she could have overcome by working through the trauma of what happened with cody etc etc before uncanny avengers. that is not the case afterwards.

so when you get to mr & mrs x and thompson “fixes” rogue’s control issue with her magically healing her psychological trauma that doesn’t work. it just doesn’t. it’s not a psychological issue anymore kelly it’s a physical one. but again i’m not surprised she didn’t read uncanny avengers or sus that out herself. if she did despite her claims of being a fan of the character since when you read captain marvel (2019) #4 she completely shits the bed on how total absorption works. kelly writes carol as though she remembers not just the sensation of being totally drained by rogue but also being trapped in her which is just not how that works at all.

rogue doesn’t make copies she steals. and there’s never been evidence that stolen memories or memories made while inside her return to the original person under any circumstance. i��d argue a telepath might be able to return them but we’ve never seen that in canon so far. when rogue absorbed carol the first time she effectively ripped her soul out of her body and xavier had to cobble together carol’s psyche from the scraps left in her body. so this whole thing they’re doing in captain marvel is literally nonsense.

at this point rogue should only be able to gain control of her powers with like outside medical/scientific help or something like mutation physical therapy. she can’t fix this with therapy anymore.

this is why i’ve largely been turned off modern comics honestly. rogue’s not a character. she’s a prop. the last time i really felt like i was reading rogue was in like carey’s legacy run and even that has it’s flaws. modern comics have turned me totally off rogue/gambit because they’re just cardboard now. they’re just props. they quip a little, the almost look like people, they almost act like people. but they’re just there, they’re just cardboard cutouts of characters i like being moved from series to series to get massacred by bad writing. and when people don’t use or understand or respect her powers and just have them do whatever they want for the plot i know that they don’t get her or care about her story.

Third section look familiar? ^^ It’s not entirely screen accurate, there were some aquamarines I took out and some red lumps I added in (and I basically redesigned the entirety of the Homeworld background AND moved everyone from the top of the legs to the bottom) so before anyone says “That’s not accurate to the show >:T” TOO BAD because the editable file deleted itself so this is all you’re getting >:)

We know that Pink Diamond led the rebellion as her alter ego, Rose Quartz. As we saw in the previous page, Condor had the suspicion that Pink was somehow involved, or did not detest the rebel efforts. And, a few thousand years later, she found out that Pink was indeed involved – she WAS Rose Quartz. For a rogue like Condor, who was loyal to both her Diamond and the love she found on Earth, this was the best possible outcome. Pink was never her enemy – it was only the other Diamonds.

And even after Era 3, they still are. But more on that later.

(Also the main room of the armoury may look slightly different… that is because I realised how plain it looks earlier in the chapter and realised it should have those star charts so YES those are supposed to be there – the mural, however, is meant to be different… but I’m not sure if I should leave it as those boring hibiscuses. Maybe the gem who paints those changes them regularly? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

(Also I think this is our first glimpse of Condor and 83's personal/non-work relationship... late Chapter 3 we'll see even more ^^)
