I was visiting my favourite high school teacher, but he was away, and the substitute teacher was Christopher Eccleston. But I didn’t want to be weird about it so I kept trying to whisper to my friend “he’s in Doctor Who” but they didn’t understand me. So we started making bread, which was hard.

DPxDC Prompt
Mr. Lancer gets sick and Jason Todd is the substitute teacher for his English class.
How does this happen? I don’t know, it’s Amity Park! But what shenanigans will ensue?
This is only the beginning. :)

Once when substituting in a first-grade class I thought that the children, who were just beginning to read and write, might enjoy some of the kind of free, non-stop writing that my fifth graders had done. About 40 minutes before lunch one day, I asked them all to take pencil and paper and start writing about anything they wanted. They seemed to like the idea, but right away one child said anxiously, "Suppose we can't spell a word?" "Don't worry about it," I said. "Just spell it the best way you can." A heavy silence settled on the room. All I could see were still pencils and anxious faces. This was clearly not the right approach. So I said, "All right, I'll tell you wat to do. Any time you want to know how to spell a word, tell me and I'll write it on the board." They breathed a sigh of relief and went to work. Soon requests for words were coming fast; as soon as I wrote one, someone asked me another. By lunchtime, when most of the children were still busily writing, the board was full. What was interesting was that most of the words they had asked for were much longer and more complicated than anything in their reading books or workbooks. Freed from worry about spelling, they were willing to use the most difficult and interesting words that they knew.

Shoutout to the substitute in my history class who probably knows me inside and out at this point. I’m always slacking off in class and doing other things on my computer but she is so silent that I never close my other tabs in time when she comes behind me. And guess what? She hasn’t said a word about it. She just lets me and like. It’s so funny because I have an awful fear of someone seeing what I’m doing on any electronic device and by now she’s probably seen the entirety of the komahina tag on tumblr. At this point she must know my political beliefs, my identity, basically everything I’m interested in at this point. And she hasn’t said a word. So yea shoutout to her for giving me some comfort in that no, nobody cares if you like things.

hello internet friends in my phone, are any of you substitute teachers? what is your average day like?
I usually don't post about career stuff on here but I'm a college adjunct professor rn (which doesn't pay shit) while also in a program to be a school media specialist and I know I'm only in my first semester but I'm gonna want a job in the school district in like just over a year, so I figure I need to start that networking somewhere and why not as a sub? I teach dual enrollment students rn so I'm most comfy with the high school age group & that's where I ultimately want to work as a media specialist, but for the sake of wanting to work hours for $$ and also wanting to network in many schools, I might also put my name in for elem and middle (assuming I apply and get the job, etc.) I'll also need to spend practicum hours at school media centers at all levels so if I can get to meet people at all levels as a sub that would be good too I think (and there's the eventuality that an elem or middle school in the district might need a media specialist sooner than a high school so I might need to work there for a few years)
I would also welcome insight from full time school teachers, I've done some research on the wider internet of course but what do you specifically want out of a sub? what do the lesson plans you leave look like? tell me all the things pls
here's a pic of my cat as payment for your knowledge

Yomiko Readman.
For collectors and hobbyists of all types, there are items, objects, or crafts one pursues with an acute, vulgar obsession (i.e., "white whale," "Holy Grail," "glorious purpose," etc.). Sometimes, this is passive; other times, it's dynamic. But as I unbox my latest haul of animation production artwork, I can scarcely believe I've successfully tagged "The Paper."
R.O.D. the TV is a wildly entertaining and dramatic anime series (even more so the precursor OVA), and I came upon a good amount of Yomiko art while hunting and tracking various auctions for anime art. In total, I nabbed a 43-sheet set of Yomiko and other characters, plus a 17-sheet set of Yomiko solo.
Additional recent finds (cel, douga, genga): Haruhi Fujioka (Ouran High School Host Club); Kiba (Wolf's Rain); Lina Inverse (Slayers); Armitage (Armitage III); Hitomi Kanzaki (Escaflowne: A Girl in Gaea); Tuberov Bilmon (Gundam Wing); Taiki, Youka, others (12 Kingdoms); Mirai Yashima (Mobile Suit Gundam).

i love when you can just tell your teacher used to teach elementary school, or did elementary education
like I'm in bio and we have a sub, 'use kind words', 'stay at voice level one or two', 'friends', then she said she was going to UCF for elementary education

Mida Rana has been caught doing something inappropriate during class. Luckily, she has just the solution to get some alone time with her favorite pupil in issue #208 of my Yandere Simulator fan comic; "Dank Midori!"
See where Kuu recognizes Mida from in this spicy Bonus Panel!
I do not own Yandere Simulator, this is only a fan parody.
Like Dank Midori? Read 'em all here!

So I’m subbing for high school today, right? I usually work on things for my Etsy because I’m so dang behind on listings and their updates and creating new ones for my recent additions for products. I have NO motivation to do so.
MAYBEEEE I’ll write some instead, see if I can work on that new part of that dadzawa fic I’ve been writing. Or move something from my phone notes over to my google drive and see if I can get something ready to post.

There’s a reason I don’t check my phone on the weekends…because nearly every weekend I find out I have to cover for a teacher on Monday, because subs will not come in and sub, and I’m left having a panic attack the rest of the weekend 😭.
