love me some assassin’s creed so ideas on how to integrate it into the AU:
the Templar Order is reimagined here as the Order of the Ancients (as ‘templar’ is too linked to a specific historical era, while this is more broadly applicable), the Assassins are the Hidden Ones (same reason). Both organizations are EXTREMELY widespread secret societies throughout the multiverse. Essentially, both are born out of a realization, or a belief that is a universal thing among sapients; the Order believes that people must be controlled and shepherded, and cannot be trusted to rule themselves. The Hidden Ones in their brotherhood believe that people can learn to live together and be as one.
as societies develop, these ideals spread; eventually, the secret societies survive, encounter others much like them, and flow together across species lines.
The Order of Ancients has a form more recognizable as the canon templars, and they are responsible for the Imperial Commonwealth being what it is; not because their form of government is desirable, but as an experiment in totally controlling a people to be what they want. By all accounts, it is successful, and they intend to either reshape the Commonwealth into a more useful form, or start over elsewhere. Some Grandmasters (possibly high profile assassins from canon, like Haytham) are making allies among the Ringers, but it remains to be seen if they will be betrayed.
The Hidden Ones have always sought to free people, removing key enemies and allowing people to make the right decisions; in this way, the Earthborn Coalition split off from the Commonwealth and has grown as a nation, and the ringleaders of the revolution did so after inventing the idea of a creed for their movement, and discovering like-minded philosophies across the multiverse.
The main character assassins from the games are contemporaries, not ancestors, and are most likely super-soldiers, replacing the isu descendant concept from canon. They are great leaders among the Coalition, inspiraitonal figures and legendary warriors of fame on par with the likes of Pearl or Grimlock. While their nations as a whole are lukewarm to outside contact, they are quite friendly with the Fleet and intent on forging ties with them.
The most prominent of the Assassins, though ALL canon asssassins are major figures, is Ratonhnhaketon, he is president of a major Coalition nation vaguely based off of the idea of ‘what if he became first president of America in an alternate timeline and steered America down a different path’. he is NOT called Connor, nor Kenway in any shape or form, forever and ever. (He and the other Kenways ARE derived from the same geneline, but they are not blood-related.) He has no reason to go by a false name, either. Haytham is not strictly his father, but is a senior member of the same project that made them both, and believes this gives him precedence over him. Ratonhnhaketon greatly dislikes having to deal with him.
The Isu do not exist in this AU, in any way or form.

Hello! First off, let me say that I appreciate and enjoy your blog; I think it is very inspiraitonal and helpful. :) Just a quick question(s): I am involved in a handful of organizations, even being on top of the "corporate ladder" for some of them, and my question to you is how do I lead without ego? Why do you think having an ego can be detrimental when leading a group? Thanks!
The biggest problem with ego is that it sets you apart from the people you work with. It is a focal point for competition, pride, and jealousy. It is also what makes success and failure loom large. Without ego, performance doesn’t reflect on your skills or abilities. Without ego, there is nothing to resist. When you put forth and egoless idea, if it is a good idea, people will embrace it, if it is bad they will reject it and there will be no politics involved. It is just an idea.
You cannot lead without ego. All you can do is manage the effects of ego through awareness. Everybody has an ego. It helps us function. It motivates us to do well. It puts us into the game of working toward the organization’s mission.
An organization’s mission is what helps everybody get beyond ego. That is the higher purpose that you all work together toward. When people believe in the mission and feel like it is meaningful to them, they are better at playing whatever role necessary to meet the organizations goals.
A leader’s ego will go through the ups and downs of the organizations successes and struggles. They will feel proud when something goes well and distressed when things don’t work out. People will compete with each other for positions and resent those in power who make decisions they don’t agree with. That is how people work. To have an ideal of an egoless workplace is more ego trying to be perfect.
What is very helpful in leadership is mindfulness. That is being present and compassionate in whatever situation arises. That means being aware of emotions and how they impact decisions and interactions. For example if you are angry at somebody and have to meet with them, you might postpone the meeting until the anger has passed. That works if you are in a position of power. It is good to be aware of power dynamics. They are real and part of workplace interactions. Although on a human level everybody is equal in an organization there are positions that hold power. You have to be aware of that especially when you are the one in power. Power has a tendency to reduce empathy and compassion, so it is extra important to practice being compassionate and taking the time to see from other’s points of view.
With mindful leadership you can work with the various egos and limit their potential for distraction. Mindfulness also helps create work/life balance. When you are present at work you are there and present with the issues and people there. When you go home, you are there, and present with the people there.
Mindful leadership is a great asset to an organization. It doesn’t eliminate ego, but it works with all the egos to get the best out of everybody and keeps the organizations mission at the center of all operations. Working for the higher purpose, puts ego in proper perspective. A mindful leader is a far better person to work for than an ego driven leader. Mindful leaders create cultures of mindfulness, which promote good, satisfying work.

Typically, people use the phrase “Rome wasn’t built in a day” to remind someone of the time needed to create something great.
And it’s true. It takes time — sometimes years — to master a skill, craft, or habit.
