Reminds me of the body of my own one

For @sukkaweek2021, day 6!

The people of Kyoshi Island have said before that they would always welcome Sokka, that he should think of it as a second home. But there’s not a drop of comfort in seeing little bits of her everywhere he goes. Every time he looks around, Sokka sees a tree that he once saw her climb. When he looks back to avoid its gaze- gaze? It’s a tree- he stares at the face of some child she had protected long ago. And even though he’s ashamed to admit it, the mere glimpse of Kyoshi makeup can send him into a panic.

He doesn’t even dare to say her name, but La’s fins, does Sokka miss her, especially on this long walk to Lady Rangi’s shrine. It’s where the people of the island go to pray for the spirits of fallen warriors. Aang offered to go with him. Seeing as he’s the avatar and all, he does have a better chance of getting through to the spirits, but Sokka said no. He has to do this alone.

On the door to the shrine hangs a large painted mask. It looks a bit like the makeup Katara wore when she dressed as the Painted Lady all those years ago. That’s a memory Sokka will always smile at, even if he doesn’t smile a lot these days. The mask is more foreboding than a comfort, though. The creak of the front door is loud enough to make him jump, but onward he goes.

There’s a long hallway, decorated with Fire nation red and gold, but the inner room of the shrine is mostly green. That makes sense. Lady Rangi was a firebender, but she considered Kyoshi Island a second home. After all, her love was there. People have tried to call them by other things, but love is the only word for it. Why else would there be a shrine here in her honor? And why else would people come here to pray for the souls of the dead warriors they loved?

There’s a small altar. Sokka knows what to do with the incense. She taught him, years ago. It smells like roselilies.

“Lady Rangi,” he begins, “Wife of Avatar Kyoshi, and… I forgot the rest, but you don’t mind, do you?

“Look, I don’t know if you can help me. I don’t even know if you can hear me. Nobody’s come here in more a hundred years, since you were Fire nation and all, so you might’ve just left. I wouldn’t blame you. I’m rambling. I’m rambling to nobody. Okay, Sokka, let’s try this again.

“I’m here about this girl- I shouldn’t say girl. She was a warrior more than anything. She was kind of terrifying, and kind of beautiful, and impulsive and loving and headstrong and sweet and I miss her so, so much, but you’ve probably heard it all before, haven’t you? I feel like you would’ve liked her, though. She was like you, in a way. Or, at least like how they said you were. And she loved using your techniques. Or at least, the ones that bear your name. There’s a stance that they call “The Lady Rangi” over here. I think over in the Fire nation they call it the horse stance. Whatever.

“The point is, I need you to keep her safe. Wherever she is, whatever is happening, will you please keep her safe? If you can, of course.”

There’s a moment of silence, where Sokka’s mind is drained of all he needed to say. It hangs in the open air, and there’s not much he can do about it now. The door of the shrine is a little lighter, the breeze a bit cooler outside.

Suki would’ve been glad he did that.

The Place To Be

Hi everyone, and happy Day 1 of @atla-trifecta-modern-au-week :D

Gonna try something different and I wrote this an hour ago, so hopefully it's not terrible 0-0. Still, I hope you enjoy, and thank you for reading! This story can also be found on AO3, just as an FYI LOL.

......

Of all the places for friends to gather, none held a flame next to the infamous coffee shop in Ba Sing Se University. Its small footprint but mighty atmosphere gave visitors the feeling that they were at home, even if home was miles and miles away.

Perhaps it was the warm and inviting decor that invited everyone in. The way the place felt like somebody's uncle’s home. Or maybe it was the fabulous aroma, the roasting of beans and the brewing of fresh tea that kept visitors lingering by the register for just a minute longer, hoping to capture all the delightful scents. Or quite possibly, it was the lovely owners that served their passion brews and blends with a smile that kept patrons coming and staying at the shop.

But at a certain point, why people visited the Jasmine Dragon didn’t matter. Soon it was just… the place to be.

It was the place to be after classes, the place to study until it closed at midnight and reopened at dawn. The place where friends gathered and caught up, it was the place where couples sat and sipped on their morning brew.

And for six of the coffee shop’s regulars, the institution was a sort of sanctuary for the group. A place where they felt loved and were loved by the owners of the shop, as well as each other.

But these six individuals weren’t just strangers in a shop. No, they were three distinct couples that found love in the most ordinary of places, and even the most hopeless of places. Each had their own love story, trials and tribulations along the way, and a moment in a story that somehow connected the whole group with one another and made them practically inseparable.

Because they were Toph and Aang, the dynamic duo, never one without the other, so cheeky and mischievous it was hard to discern which of the two wreaked more havoc. They were Zuko and Katara, the ones who have seen it all and were selfless through it all, but somewhere along the way, found time to take care of each other and more importantly, trust one another. They were Sokka and Suki, the sweethearts that went through thick and thin to stay together, and even when they were apart, they always managed to come back to each other.

And while all of this begins and ends in a quaint coffee shop at a university, this story in particular, is the story of how those couples came to be.

Welcome to Sukka Week 2021!

A fandom week to celebrate Sokka and Suki!

Last year, Sukka Week was held the last week of August. I wanted to keep the dates close to that, but also allow plenty of time for choosing prompts, so I've pushed the event out by about a month. Please let me know if you see any issues with these dates!

When should you submit your work?

You can submit on or after the day of a given prompt. (For example, if Day 1 is "modern AU," then you could submit a modern AU fic on Day 1 or any day thereafter, but please don't start posting before Day 1 because I might not be watching the tags that closely yet.)

Late submissions will be accepted! I'll be monitoring the tags for about a month after the event, but if you have a submission that's ready even later than that, just mention @sukkaweek2021 in your post and I'll be happy to reblog!

You do not have to submit something for every prompt! If you only submit one work for one prompt and nothing else for the rest of the week, that's totally fine! If you want to submit several works for one prompt, that's also totally fine! If you want to write a multi-chapter fic that hits on every prompt for the week, then great!

Content that isn't tagged appropriately or doesn't follow these rules may not get reblogged, so please read these carefully before participating.

If you're posting your fic on tumblr, I recommend using a read-more cut on longer posts (more than a couple hundred words).

When posting images (fanart, edits, gifs, etc.), please use an image description.

Please provide transcripts for any audio content.

NSFW content is acceptable, but you must follow the guidelines of whatever platform is hosting your work (e.g., No explicit content hosted on FF.net; all appropriate tags used for content hosted on AO3; no NSFW images embedded directly on tumblr; if you are engaging with NSFW content, you confirm that you are the age necessary to do so on each platform where you are engaging with the work). If your fic or meta is NSFW and hosted on tumblr, please put it under a read-more cut.

Tag all your content appropriately! This includes mature or potentially triggering content like NSFW and violence, as well as content like additional ships.

pretty proud of this one ngl, I like the potential dynamic between Zuko and Yue because of their positions by birth and their senses of duty, not to mention the sun/moon symbolism. And then it's platonic! Nice! Pairings: Zuko/Sokka, Yue/Suki, Sokka/Suki, and (fake dating) Zuko&Yue.

Day 2 of ATLA poly week

Prompt accidental-study group-turned-romance for @atla-poly-week

Summary: sokka, suki, zuko, and mai are all engineering majors who unite to conquer finals, and end up finding love in the engineering section of the library. Keep reading to read my work for this prompt, (unfortunately no ao3 link for this)

i think it should be said i know nothing about engineering school or internships

the pros of being friends with most sociable engineering major that you’ll ever meet, sokka finds, is that suki knows everyone

suki knows that mai is a wiz at uncoding word problems and zuko makes the best revision plans

suki tells sokka that they should all study together for finals, it’s the make it or break it season that determines their internships this summer and for the rest of their program

unfortunately, zuko’s revision plans start months in advanced so suki wears sokka down until he agrees to participate in the sessions

suki gets along well with mai and zuko

and starts chatting with them as they all pull up their drafting softwares and textbooks and other items conducive to studying

and sokka stares at the two with their similar black hair and black eyeliner trying to figure out if they’re dating, he only knows they’re not siblings because zuko complains about his sister to suki, who is a freshman with vicious snark

zuko gives them their schedules and explains them quietly

they have to meet three times a week until finals

which sokka absolutely doesn’t want to do, he has to rearrange his whole life for this

but engineering school is not a walk in the park and he kinda needs this

at first it’s kinda awkward

suki is the only thing they really have in common, besides being super smart and science nerds

then their study sessions start getting derailed by conversations of their favorite shows and animes, their favorite drinks and foods

and sometimes they ditch studying altogether to get drinks or coffee and then end up drunkenly or hyperly explaining concepts to each other and making mindmaps and going absolutely feral in a nerdy way

and a month into it, sokka feels just as ease with mai and zuko as he does with suki

which makes him feel somewhat guilty, he’s known and loved suki far longer than mai or zuko, but then again, he knows that bonds have no rules or regulations

Suki is the first one to point out that zuko has a crush on sokka, somewhat wistfully, if sokka’s judging it right

Her eyes get all far away as they walk towards the library hand in hand and sokka is soo confused

Does she like him? Like zuko? He wouldn’t mind in either case, he’s had a crush on suki for well, ever; and despite whatever attraction building in his chest for zuko isn’t worth sabotaging suki and zuko’s potential relationship is she likes him

So he says nothing and laughs it off, he kisses her forehead as they strip oof their coats in the entryway and she blushes

And that's his first clue, also called clue zero, because he doesn’t realize its a clue until later

Actual clue one comes when mai kisses the top of suki’s head when she approaches their table a few minutes late, and suki blushes again, so sokka starts collecting clue officially

He makes a list

Clue 2: zuko smiles at sokka a beat too long to be normal when sokka congratulates him on deciding to double major, mai watches suki watching them and smiles softly

Clue 3: suki musses zuko’s hair from across the table and he turns a brilliant shade of scarlet, and mai’s eyes are stuck to the strip of skin between suki’s top and waistband that’s exposed

Clue 4: sokka picks up suki’s phone one day when they’re hanging out with katara and toph, and sees a message in a group chat that just suki, zuko, and mai, titled ‘ssc’. He doesn’t say anything, just opens up google like he grabbed her phone to do, but it lingers in his mind

Sokka bides his time, keeps observing -a scientific method running through his head producing little graphs and charts no one else can see- while they keep studying and hanging out in their free time

Sometimes, sokka and mai will go to the spin bike place she really likes, or he and zuko will just get coffee and walk around the campus. Spending time with suki is always easy, but he notices an undercurrent of tension that didn’t use to be there

Clue 5 is so obvious sokka would have to be blind not to notice it. Toph throws a party, and like all her parties are, it's a rager, the four of them get blind drunk and then stumble out onto the small balcony, having to sit practically on top of each other to all fit

Someone says something, and then they’re all laughing, mai reaches over and kisses zuko. It seems familiar to them, like this is a drunken routine. He doesn’t push her away, keeps kissing her and when he pulls away he whispers something that suki and mai hear

Its painfully obvious in that second that he’s the outsider on this little secret, but painfully obvious in that second as well what that secret is

So at their next study session, sokka braids his wolf tail instead of just tying it back and practices his words in the mirror. When he gets to the study session, the other three are all there and he takes a deep breath

“I think we should all go on a date,” he says. They all stare at him, varying stages of shock and pleasure on their faces. “All of us. Together,” he needlessly clarifies.

“I thought he would be the last to figure it out,” zuko says

“He was,” suki points out

“I thought we would have to ask him out,” mai says

“Is that a yes?” sokka asks. It was a yes, a very long anticipated and enthusiastic yes. And even though sokka had been very reluctant to even study together, he’s so, so glad he agreed to it; or else, maybe he would have never gotten to know the three of them this way.

and they all pass finals!

Zutara Week Day 7: Stories

Hey everyone so I know this last one is a little late but I still wanted to post it regardless. So Kanta is the oldest of my HC bladebabies and she is a waterbender and the oldest of the next generation. So she tends to play the part of big sister for everyone especially her cousins. Lu Ten is the first of my HC steambaby boys and he ends up being a Firebender like Kya. Izumi is only a little disappointed when his bending manifests but she still loves her baby brother. As for how their parents are reacting to the girls first meeting Lu Ten they are all just so happy to see their children having what they didn’t have that they are over come with it all. As for Sokka well it’s Sokka he was always over the top lol. Anyway enjoy and it was awesome to join in on this event. And thanks once more for all the likes. :)
