When does the moon turn full? When I tell it stories of love. When does the moon begin to wane? When I stop speaking of love. What do you look like in the dark? A horned, lit, and petrified tree on a shore. To whom do you turn when in pain?

[Text ID: Lover, each time I kiss you I name after you a sickly feeling in my own body, as if each ailing is a previously undiscovered moon orbiting a planet that can only sustain the strangest of life-forms.]

6, 14, 15 for the book asks :]
6. what books have you read in the last month?
only one novel but a lot of poetry books!
Josh and Hazel's Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren. it was fine. it was a romance novel, and i like romance novels. this one had a very abrupt ending.
Extracting the Stone of Madness: Poems 1962 – 1972 by Alejandra Pizarnik, translated by Yvette Siegert. extremely highly very recommend. content warning for death and mental health issues - Pizarnik was extremely suicidal and it is obvious in pretty much every poem she writes.
Arrow by Sumita Chakraborty. also recommend.
Invocation to Daughters by Barbara Jane Reyes. also recommend. content warning for discussion of violent misogyny and assault. portions of the poems are in Tagalog and Spanish.
You Darling Thing by Monica Ferrell. meh.
Bright Dead Things by Ada Limón. considering how much praise this book has gotten, i expected it to be much better than it actually was. it's fine, i guess. there are definitely some very quotable lines. no poems stood out to me.
14. do you ever mark/dog ear books you own?
i underline in textbooks. i used to dog ear books but not much anymore. mostly i use sticky notes to mark up books.
15. recommend and review a book.
i realize i reviewed all the books above but. here's another review anyway
The Ghost Network by Catie Disabato. this book has mixed reviews but it's one of my favorites. i do think it appeals to like, a very specific subset of people tho. if you enjoy: trains/public transit, elaborate frame stories, geography, obscure theoretical constructs, and/or dadaism, this book is for you. i enjoy all of these things, but also elaborate frame stories are especially my shit. (please recommend me books with elaborate frame stories. the more frame stories the better.)
also there's queer characters i guess! the queerness of the characters really has nothing to do with the plot.

Dear, beloved by Sumita Chakraborty. Text ID under cut.
[Text ID: You’ll have to leave me. Or else I’ll leave you, because my body, it invents definitions for the word sadness, like noun, the feathers on a bird’s back. You’ll do nothing for me. On my mountain, it’s midafternoon, and the wheeling birds are landing steadily, even though no stable ground is here to be found. When they sing, it is a song that I, who know no prayers, imagine to be gospel. A man comes up the mountainside and sings along with them as he walks in circles on the rock.]

If it is the last thing I do, I’ll command you to be amazed. Seas rolling onto the shore, dried to salt. The dust of growing gorges. The eclipse. Fields of pines—no, full coasts—caught flame. Nebulae, dead, their starred knots unknotted, dispersed and flayed into the dark. Blurs of mackerel skies, horse-shaped clouds. The courses set into motion by each loss of life. The persistence of gravity.
