Ineligible ships

Like last year, eligible ships are those with under 500 works.

Did you know that as of April 18th, kimallura still has only 481 fics? Counting all the fics where they only show up as a background pairing? Yes, it means we miss one or two ships that are popular side pairings, but it keeps us focused on the rarest ships. In the spirit of the exchange, we also ask that we prioritize ships other than the most popular pairing in the Candela section.

There is a tornado in the corner.

Not a very impressive one, but Dairon keeps their eye on it all the same. Recruits and residents alike keep their distance, though it’s fairly self-contained anyway—a whirlwind of blue and brown, a constant barrage of empty noise until it blends into the ambience of the room and loses all identity.

“What do you think, Dairon?”

“Hm?” Dairon focuses her attention back on the High Curator, clasping their hands behind her back and straightening just a little.

“The newest recruits,” the Curator clarifies. “What are your impressions?”

Dairon takes a long breath and considers the question, gathers their thoughts into something concise but still complete—a summary that communicates her intentions without wasting the Curator’s time with excessive details.

“We seem to get fewer recruits these days,” they begin, “though that is balanced by the intent and desire to contribute from the ones that stay. This group…there is promise,” Dairon concludes. “I wonder if some might need more molding than most.”

“There are some like that in every group.”

If Dairon were paying even a little less attention, she would miss the whisper of a wink that flutters across their superior’s face.

“But maybe more, this time around,” the Curator continues.

Dairon nods. “It looks that way, for now. Which will be fine—we’ve always done well with challenges.”

“And how do you think we’ll do with that one?”
