@ozqrowweek 2023 Day 7: Free Day

And so we eventually reach the final day! For this day, I wanted to draw Oz and Qrow being old and happy 'cause it's what they deserveeee @yoomschoocs and I sure put a lot of love and effort into this day, so we hope you enjoy this one as much as we do! In this artwork, I did the sketch and lineart, and Yoom did the coloring and shading! You madlad ily <3 Here are some closeups with small explanations 'cause boi I packed a lot of thoughts and whatnots in here-

Naturally, as one gets older they get less mobile. For Oz it got to the point where he felt more comfortable going on longer walks with a wheelchair rather than just his cane.

Throughout the years they have made a lot of memories, so they made sure to highlight a few. The first picture is of Penny and Ruby on their honeymoon. The second is of the Bees schnees family, a picture with their kid Blue Jay. Next to that is Oz and Qrow with their service dog, Bolt, trained for anxiety and ptsd. In the bottom left, there is a picture of Glynda, Oscar and Ozpin. In which Oscar became the official headmaster of Beacon. Good job me boy! Then on the right there's a lil beeb Ozpin with his dad <3 On the cabinet, there's a birb that Oz crocheted for Qrow. Modelled after one of Qrow's past birbs, Petey. Next to him lie Oz and Qrow's childhood plushies. Oz's teddy bear, accompanied by Qrow's stuffed bird plushie, accurately named "Birdy".

Here, you can see jars of all kinds of things Qrow has collected from different areas. And some objects that Oz values. There are also pictures of young team rwby, Tai and Glynda. There is also a framed paw print of Bolt next to Tai's picture, with a pink Incarnation laying beside them. On the plank below there are pictures of team STRQ and Beacon.

Sister of Qrow Branwen and mother of Yang Xiao Long, Raven is a very intimidating mother but with a secret soft and caring side. She values family and it's her top#1 priority.

She had dissagreements with Qrow in the past and she kinda dissapeared for a short time when Summer went missing. She then came back, offering her help to find her.

She left tai after Yang's birth. She never neglected her tho, she just didn't wanna stay with him as a couple. Tai and Raven never got married btw, that's why she just... left him, there was no divorce

Taiyang: *watching Qrow immediately crack open a drink after receiving a secret mission from Ozpin*

Taiyang: Oz, I don’t know what your secret meetings with my team are about, but I swear, if you cause them any pain I’ll hurt you in the worst way I can!

Ozpin: Mister Xiao-Long, your concerns are noted, but I’m afraid these meetings are need-to-know.

Ozpin: *chuckles* And, to be honest, you don’t frighten me.

Taiyang: *fuming* 😡

Raven: *ashamed* …and that’s what happened to Summer that night.

Taiyang: *turns to Oscar* Your secrets cost me TWO relationships, turned Qrow into an alcoholic, and for all I know you’ve gotten my kids killed!

Taiyang: I’m going to make you pay, the only way I know how…

Taiyang: I’m going to fuck your ex!

Ozpin: You wouldn’t dare!

Later…

Taiyang: *with nothing left to lose, banging on Salem’s castle door with no pants on*

Raven: *Taiyang’s ride to the Grimm castle* Somehow, I always thought you would have a hand in the rise of a Dark Lord.

Tai: Well, I haven't forgiven you. I'm still angry about what you've done, and how badly you hurt my family, and jsut about everything you've done ...

Tai: But, there's enough hate in the world. I can either get angry over something that happened when we were different people, or I can give you a chance to show that you have changed. Not because you deserve it, but because ... I think I deserve it.

Tai: If I can let that last little bit of anger go, if the wound you left me with can finally scar over, instead of just be patched up? Then it'll be worth it. And, maybe, you can. I dunno. Prove that you're worthy of being a Member of team STRQ.

Raven: ... Thank you Tai. You do deserve it. I do need to help heal and repair what I've hurt and broke. That's why Ruby and Yang are as strong as they are. They had you and Summer.

Tai: Yeah, but for a while, None of us were strong without you. But I think, Even with as strong as any of us are alone, We're all stronger together.

Raven: *Raven Smiles. It's small and Soft, nearly imperceptible, but you don't fall in love with her without being able to find it.*

???: *KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK* OPEN THIS DOOR PLEASE!

Raven: Who's there?

???: Oh Of course the key's still tucked up under the awning-

Tai and Summer VS Raven and Summer

Like, why do people look at the interaction between the Red&Black Duo and think “OMG THEY TOTES LOVERS” when all we see is Raven try to banter, get uncomfortable under Summer’s GLARE, and Summer honestly just shutting Raven down. I mean it is VERY clear Summer is not there for fun or shippy stuff. She is a woman on a mission and the sooner she gets it done the sooner she can go back to her family. Meanwhile before that we see her clearly uncertain/uncomfortable with the lie she is telling Tai, but she manages to keep it together long enough to ACTUALLY banter with the man as they share a laugh. When he seems worried/uncertain, Summer gently touches his cheek and softly reassures him (unlike with Raven when the ex-teammate was also showing signs of uncertainty). Tai then pulls Summer into an embrace and you see her smile before tucking her face into his frame. “But why didn’t Tai kiss her?” people ask. And to that I say, do they NEED to kiss? NO. I mean, look at The Bees. Yang and Blake haven’t kissed on screen since the confession episode!. For Tai he thought it was just another mission and she’d be back before long. In short, the “Rosebird” scene is one-sided on Raven’s part “at best” and nothing most likely. Just another scene of Team STQ not having any of Raven’s BS.
