NO. 5 EVERY WHUMPEE'S NEEDS
Blood Loss | Running Out of Air | Hyperthermia
No, seriously, what’s the point of having the Power of Zeus if weather control doesn’t come with the package?
It’s one hundred and two degrees out, just a few shy of setting a new record. August has no fucking business being this hot. There’s nowhere you can run to escape this except maybe space, but like hell are you gonna get out of this shade to go anywhere.
Black Adam himself could show up right now and you’d just throw your lukewarm can of soda at his face.

Went out. Walked around a car show. Ate some tacos. Chilled. That was my day.
Not bad considering I only got about three hours sleep. 🤣

I thought of them as light mapped on the skin. Evidence of where I’d been touched by the sun.
I’m glad, she said, as we walked along the beach together one morning, that I was a punk for most of my youth, when tanning was all the rage. The girls at my school used to lie on their lawns on tinfoil, slathered in coconut oil, like they were nothing but meat. So many women my age look withered now. Overdone. Unlike my mother, I wanted to burn, water drying off my body in the heat—once my favorite vice. It felt good in the way a minor transgression can, like taking a drag off a cigarette or kissing a stranger. I liked the sting of it, standing under the cool needles of the outdoor shower at the end of the day, rinsing the sand from my feet. The freckles I had as a child, long dormant, appearing again on my arms and across the bridge of my nose. I thought of them as light mapped on the skin. Evidence of where I’d been touched by the sun.
