Atsumu Miya is the most nonchalant dude outside of volleyball. Unless they talk about volleyball or insult his close ones he really doesn’t care.
Osamu: I think I’m gay
Atsumu: cool, wanna grab a burger
Suna: I think I’m in love with your brother
Atsumu: didn’t he insult your favourite food just yesterday
Suna dreamily: yeah
Atsumu patting his back in pity: Kay weirdo, let’s go grab a burger
Bokuto: I FOUND THE BEST CAKE SHOP EVER
Atsumu: sure dude, wanna grab a burger with me
Bokuto: I uh but my cake shop
Atsumu: burger?
Bokuto defeated: sure
Kiyoomi: the special is on don’t you want to watch?
Atsumu: nah I’m gonna go get a burger
Kiyoomi: get me frappuccino
Atsumu: sure

Tumblr media
Synopsis: You and Suna had your differences, but this time, they couldn’t be settled. Warnings: ANGST, crying, profanity, mentions of cheating, drinking, hard breakup (not harsh just painful)
Previous/masterlist/next
Tumblr media
“Remember the words you told me, love me till the day I die..”
You watch as your boyfriend stumbles through the door, obviously drunk. Again. He’s been drinking for a while now and you have a feeling why. The main problem is you refuse to accept it. The love of your life, doing the least expected. Another woman, or women plural would be more accurate. The relationship had been getting rocky, and it seemed like the more you ignored it, the more he drank. You wanted to confront him about it soon, but you were too scared to lose the person you’ve loved for so long. The next morning, you woke him up to talk about it. He seemed frustrated, but he brushed you off, saying something about him going out with friends.
Lie.
You knew he wasn’t out with friends, because he’d drunk call you eventually telling you how much he loved you and leaving you a million messages a minute. You never heard anyone in the background of the calls, and knowing his friends, you definitely would.
“Surrender my everything ‘cause you made me believe you’re mine..”
You decide you have enough evidence on him to break it off, leave the toxicity behind for good. But that was easier said than done. Fight after fight about you falsely accusing him, saying things like ‘you don’t understand!’ And ‘you’re just too damn clingy!’
you were so worn out by the time you finally left, you barely felt a thing. Weeks passed and the numbness you felt didn’t falter, instead growing stronger due to the memories of your now broken relationship.
Suna on the other hand, was a mess. He knew he had messed up, neglecting you, cheating on you, the whole 9 yards. He wasn’t sure when it really started even. Just one night while he was out, he guessed. You guys had been fighting a lot, more than usual. It was like everything annoyed him. He knows it wasn’t justified and that what he did severely hurt you, so he turned to drinking to try and forget it all. But that’s when it started getting worse. He would get drunk and wake up in a new girls bed every morning.
“I give and I give and I give and you take..”
It was late when it happened, around 2 am maybe. He showed up out of nowhere, just..poof there he was. He wanted to be a part of your life again. He begged and pleaded, giving you every reason in the book for you to take him back. “I’ll be better! I promise!”
Lie.
“I’ll stop drinking!”
Lie!
“I won’t cheat ever again!”
Lie!!
and so on. But there it was, the confession. It was too late; the damage had been done. If he wanted to be a part of your life so bad, he needed to show you he could be better. But you were too scared. Of course having him back in your bed would be great, you missed the warmth. You missed him so badly, and him showing up out of the blue opened a fresh wound that needed to be properly healed. You craved affection and touch but were to afraid to ask, afraid of what could happen if you let him back in.
“I’m sorry Ri- er.. Suna..”
It was already too late. You were trying to forget. You had finally come to terms that you weren’t enough, but he just had to keep coming back to hurt you again. You knew that wasn’t his intention but that’s what was happening. You so badly wanted this whole thing to be over with. Plus, you had been talking to someone recently; however, without knowing he was friends with Rin. You brought this up asking him politely, yet firmly, to leave.
“Him?? Really?! He’s a narcissistic asshole and a shitty liar!! C’mon Y/n!”
If you had known your mystery man was friends with Rin, you would’ve cut him off immediately. You didn’t want him to find out.
“Are you fucking kidding me Suna?? Takes one to fucking know one. I can’t believe you right now. This is the shit. This is the goddamn reason all of this started in the first place. You and your double standard! Your lying and addiction!”
“But-“
“The cheating! You can’t go around shitting on other people when you’re exactly the same, maybe worse!! Fuck you Suna Rintarō. I never want to fucking see you again.”
That last sentence was the hardest thing you ever had to say.
With wide eyes, all he says is sorry.

»»———————— ♡ ————————««
In a way, you felt sentimental, thinking back to the little fox you met on your way home from work. The way it watched you, its tail slowly wagging up and down, and the tiniest sounds it made as it followed you home, paws scratching over the asphalt. You were too scared to get closer than two arm lengths, but your lips still curled into a smile when you looked over your shoulder, its eyes darting up to yours, and it stopped, careful of your actions. As if it wanted to be by your side, yet, not in a way that you’d know.
You had been so thoughtful feeding it as it settled in the forest behind your house. Thrown little pieces of meat towards it or used tongs to hand it over to its maw. There was definitely enough respect between the two, but you had to admit you also spoiled it a little with cooking an extra portion of dinner for it and putting out blankets for it to curl up in on rainy days. It’s not like it hurt someone, or bothered anyone. You two merely worked up a tender relationship, and it’s not like that wasn’t your intention when you began to engage more with it.
So why did you feel ridden with regret, now that it returned your affection?
It - or he, you were still figuring that out on the go - didn’t change, even as the fox’s body contorted, claws turning into long fingers, fur into hair. Just his eyes always stayed the same, unreadable and, to you, a bit scary. There was no grand reveal or even a simple introduction. “Suna,” he said, tapping his own chest as he approached. Thankfully, your body knew better than your mind to counter his steps with your own, always one step further back than he was.
He seemed to get the hint, his eyes lingering on yours for a second more before he stopped, his head turning side to side, tilting slightly up and down as he inspected his surroundings. “W-Who...?” you croaked, gripping tightly into the cushions of your couch behind which you hid from him, gaining some distance.
“Are you not listening? Suna,” he repeated, sharp, bright irises focusing back on you. “Why didn’t you shoo me away?”
It was an untypical question, really. However, you weren’t sure what you expected from a man - or at least creature - with a pair of triangle-shaped, fluffy ears peaking from his black hair and an oversized tail still wagging after him. “What are you doing in my house?!” you threw back, rightfully unnerved by the appearance of him after you just got home that day.
No one in your family or friend circle would have been allowed to simply enter and enjoy the comforts of your home without your knowledge, and this person certainly wasn’t even one of either. You wished you could have said that you had never seen him before, but your gut told you otherwise.
“I felt like coming in. Being outdoors all day can be quite exhausting, you know?”
A moment of silence hung between you, though he never so much as blinked in the time that you two stared at each other. On an animal, sure, those sly, focused eyes were quite cute, but they were nothing short of unnerving on a human. Wait, you thought.
“The fox.” The realization hit you as you took an instinctive step further back. Suna’s ears peaked up at that, and for a brief moment, a smile laid on his lips, showcasing a rare case of pride in his expression. Was he proud of you for figuring it out? Or proud of his own origins? You couldn’t tell. But as quick as the change of face came, he dismissed it, taking a deep breath. It was neither a confirmation nor rejection of what you just realized, but he didn’t seem keen on pondering over it. “So why didn’t you shoo me away? Don’t you know that animals come back if you feed them?”
Why is it you’re so surprised? he seemed to want to ask, unable to put it into proper words. Your throat felt dry as your thoughts finally caught up with what you wanted to say, and you gulped once, wondering how to answer this. “It’s still a living creature... I just wanted to help it out.”
As if you could read his mind, the deadpan expression on his face shifted only slightly, telling you what he thought about your sentiment. Truly, he didn’t seem like he needed help with food. If anything, he had devilishly good looks, no signs of malnutrition showing under the sand-colored kimono he wore.
It was hard to converse with him, but it was just as hard to keep eye contact. Something about him, may it be his posture or the extra limbs he displayed, made you restless, not least because you saw him shift from something akin to a fur monster to nothing short of a man out of a fairytale. Your mind was so driven by curiosity that you almost didn’t hear the urges of your body. Why was he here? What made him follow you in the first place? What was he? All questions that troubled you, yet, all your shivering knees and nervous lip-biting told you, was to get away. After all, looks and reality were two different things. He might look intriguing and yet be dangerous under those brilliant eyes.
“What are you...?” you managed to bring forth eventually. However, before you even spoke your last word, he silently passed you, and you jumped out of his way, watching in shock as he closed the door to your garden through which he must have come in. Almost as if he had waited for you to make a run for it. As if he had given you a chance, at least.
“Are you really that curious?” he asked, closing in the distance much too fast for your comfort. You barely had time to move before he gripped your wrist, his fingers abrasive against your skin. “For starters, I’m hungry, so feed me.”
Instantly, you felt appalled by his touch, but even more so his request. “How dare you...!”
“I’ll find something if you don’t hurry,” he interrupted you, never giving you the time to speak out your emotions at him. Instead, he lifted his hand, gnarly, sharp fangs protruding from a row of white as he pulled your fingers to his lips. With his tongue licking at your fingertip, you had only seconds to pull your hand away, stumbling and losing your footing as you took quite a few steps back. You could have already seen your finger being caught between his teeth and the thought alone sent a shiver down your spine.
“No!” you yelled out, only sparing a short glance at your hand to see if everything was still okay. It wasn’t long that an obvious growl of a stomach made its way to your ear, and for some reason, you couldn’t help but take his demand very seriously after the show he put on. “I will get some! Stay- Stay here so long!” you instructed. With an anxious glance over your shoulder, you ran off into the kitchen next to the living room, rummaging through your fridge.
How adorably frightened you were. Annoying to deal with still, but not as bad as other humans were when he appeared. Suna knew he’d have to hide and wait if you were to call someone for help or leave the house without him, but you had yet to find out how much fun he’d have with you. The more you’d try to keep him away, the more eager he’d become to be by your side. That had always been the case with the humans that thought he was too adorable to keep away.
Suna loved the look of you fussing in the kitchen, trying to prepare anything for him. Even though you told him to wait, he couldn’t help but follow on quiet soles, roaming around you and taking in the scents mixing under his nose of the food and you. He couldn’t be bothered with the other foxes’ opinions about humans. Not when you were so much fun to hang around, reacting to even the most subtle of his actions as if you were a rabbit rather than a proud human.
But you, on the other hand, would have to learn how to deal with the constant, watchful eyes in your back and the mischievous smile playing over his lips when you weren’t looking.
Especially now, when he wasn’t going to leave the hand that was feeding him anytime soon.

You and Kita were waiting a few feet outside the cafe. You had your arms linked through his as the two of you waiting.
“Is she coming soon?” Kita asked you.
Checking your phone, you checked the time and saw it was ten minutes past the meet-up time, “She should be…”
“(Y/n)! Kita!” You both heard a sweet feminine voice called out behind you.
Both of you turned around and saw a young girl running towards you wearing a cute date outfit with her long black hair trailing after her. As she reached both of you she gave you an apolitical smile, “Sorry! I was trying to think of a lie to Rin.”
“You could have told me you were having trouble getting him off your back,” You laughed at her, “I have ways to make him keep quiet.”
“But then he’ll know something is up,” The green eye female pouted. She then looked at Kita and smiled at him, “It’s good to see you again Kita.”
“It’s good to see you again as well, Suna-Chan,” Kita smiled at her.
“Please call me by my first name,” she sweatdropped at him.
“Of course, Himari,” Kita nodded.
“Thank you,” Himari smiled at him and looked back at you, “so what’s the plan?”
“Since this is your first date,” you started, “Kita and I are going to spy on you to make sure everything is going smoothly. You remember the signs I told you about?”
“Yes.”
“Perfect!” You exclaimed, “If anything feels weird or sketchy, tell us and we’ll come and save you.”
“I will,” Himari nodded understanding, “but do you have anything to do to help calm my nerves?”
“Take deep breathes,” Kita said softly and saw Himari taking his advice, “you don’t have to be nervous.”
“But this is my first date,” Himari frowned, “what happens if I embarrass myself?”
“You’ll be fine,” you assured her, “just be yourself.”
“Okay…”
“Should we get inside?” Kita questioned the both go you. You and Himari nodded at him and started to walk to the cute cafe. Entering it, you and Kita gave Himari said good luck and went to a table as she went to a different table and wait for her date.
A waitress came to you and Kita’s table and take your orders. Right when the waitress finished taking your orders, a boy around Himari ages went up the table. Both you and Kita watched as Himari shy smiled at him and offered him the seat in front of her.
“He’s attractive,” you muttered as you saw a tall brown hair boy sitting across Himari.
“Being attractive doesn’t mean he is a good person,” Kita said as he stared at the back of the male’s head.
“That’s true…”
“Here’s your drinks and your cake,” the waitress said as she placed the items on the table, “let me know if there is anything else!”
“Is everything okay, (Y/n)?” Kita asked you as he saw you scrolling through your phone with a confused look.
“Huh? Oh,” you said looking at him, “it’s just ‘Tsumu blowing up my phone…saying he’s sorry?”
Kita nodded his head at you in understanding and went back to eating his cake. But before he could place the piece in his mouth, Kita looked over your shoulder, “Himari is giving us the sign.”
You quicker turned around, seeing Himari messing with a strand of hair. “That mean’s he’s funny!” You whispered to Kita and putting your phone on do not disturb.
You grabbed your drink and took a sip, happy how the plan is going well. But it was ruined all too soon when the cafe door was busted open reviewing Suna looking at his little sister.
“Rin?” You questioned, standing up from your seat.
“Brother?” Himari whimpered, seeing her older brother at the door.
“Atsumu?” Kita looked behind Suna, seeing Atsumu have a panicked look.
“(Y/n)!” Atsumu yelled out in panic.
“Kita?” Aran looked at his caption in confusion, trying to figure what was happening.
“What is going on?” Osamu asked as he looked around and saw everyone.
“I would like to know,” Suna glared at the boy sitting in front of his sister.
“I’m on a date,” Himari gulped, putting on a strong face.
Suna looked at his younger sister in disbelief, “You’re too young to date.”
“I’m two years younger than you,” Himari countered back.
You decided to intervene, slowly making your way to Suna’s side and gently placed a gentle hand on his arm, “It’s fine Rin, she was just getting to know him.” “You knew?” Suna looked down at you in disbelief, no longer having his usually static expression.
“She came to me and ask for help,” you explained, crossing your arms, “and Kita and I are watching her just in case anything happens.”
Osamu suddenly came in-between the two of you asking, “So you and Kita weren’t on a date?”
“No, we were not,” Kita said behind him.
Atsumu then let out a whimper as he said, “So everything was a misunderstanding? Perfect now let’s just go before anything else is said…”
“Are you and Suna pretending to date?” Osamu asked you, ignoring what his brother said.
“Why would you asked that?” You questioned, turning around to look at him.
Since your attention was on Osamu, you didn’t see Suna, and Atsumu’s face morphed into a panic, and Suna shaking his head no at Osamu. But Osamu didn’t pay attention to Suna and continued to say, “Atsumu said you two were faking.”
“Atsumu said what?” You said angrily, glaring at the piss hair bee.
“Um,” Atsumu started to panic, trying to look around to see anyone could help him, “it slipped out… But! Suna didn’t deny it! He told us everything and I mean everything.”
“You told them everything?” You slowly turned your head to the fox look alike.
“I um…” Suna hesitated, “that’s not important right now! What is important is my baby sister is out on a date and lied to me about it and you know and kept it from me!”
“She’s a big girl Rin!” You tolled your eyes at him, “She can handle herself.”
“You don’t have to worry about me all the time!” Himari said, standing next to you as she defending herself. “But what do you mean by everything? What did you two do with each other?”
An all-out argument then proceeds to commence. You would switch between yelling at Atsumu for being so careless and telling the secret, answering Osamu’s questions which you found weird since he kept asking if you were single and wanting to know why you and Suna did what you two did. You also argued with Suna, helping defend Himari with her date. Himari would switch between Suna and you, defending herself that she can handle herself, and questioned what you and Suna did.
Suna kept saying how Himari was still too young to young to date and trying to stop Osamu and Atsumu from saying anything else. Kita and Aran looked at the group, trying to stop the argument. Himari date stared at the group, trying to follow what was happening. The workers were also trying to find what was happening, gossiping with each other to try and understand what was happening since there weren’t any other customers at the moment.
At his wit’s end, Kita decided to take action into his own hands. “Enough!” Kita yelled, making everyone flinch at his hard voice and stopped talking. “Suna, Himari is old enough to make her own decisions and take care of herself. If something would have happed (Y/n) and I would intervene. Osamu, (Y/n) is single and isn’t daten’ anyone so please stop asking her those questions. Atsumu, you shouldn’t have revealed their secret. It was none of your concern and not your place to reveal they kissed and their relationship, there will be consequences.”
“You kissed my brother?”
“It was a moment of weakness…”
“Ew…”
“(Y/n), please go easy on Suna, he is only looking out for his little sister. But I will help you with Atsumu, he needs to understand he can’t blurt people’s secrets. I want y’all to apologize to the workers for causen’ a disruption and you will all write an apology letter,” Kita crossed his arms in disappointment as he looked at the second year and Himari.
You all nodded your heads and slowly walked over to the staff and apologized for causing the disturbance. The staff assured everything was fine and said they enjoyed watching everything unfold. You paid then paid for the food and exited the cafe with trails of apologies. Aran, Kita, and Himari date all followed them, saying their goodbyes to the staff.
“I don’t know what to say to Kyo…” Himari whispered.
“Go talk to him,” Suna sighed, “whatever happens, I’ll be there to support you.”
“Thanks, big brother,” Himari smiled and walked up to her date.
“Good luck,” you whispered to her as everyone watched as she went up to Kyo. You all walked a few feet away, wanting to give them their privacy but were still close enough to hear what they were saying.
“So…” you all heard Himari started, “wild date huh…”
“Yeah,” the Kyo awkwardly laughed, “wild…”
“Do you want to have a redo date?” Himari asked shyly with blushing cheeks.
“Sure, only if you brothers join,” the guy awkwardly smiled.
“What?” Was all Himari said, “My brother?”
“Yeah,” Kyo shrugged. “I was hoping to ask him a few volleyball tips…”
“What did he say?” Suna’s eyes twitched, taking a few steps in their direction, “Is he trying to hurt my little sister’s heart?”
“Rin,” you whispered, tugging on his arm and pulling him back.
“So you were using me…” Himari came to the conclusion. The boy then started to explain how cool her older brother was, wanting to talk to Suna about volleyball and not caring about Himari’s feelings.
“(Y/n),” Suna gritted his teeth.
“I know,” you glared at Kyo letting go of Suna’s arm. Everyone all glared at the young boy, walking behind Himari, and glared threatening at him. The boy slowly stopped talking as he saw a group of intimidating volleyball players and their manager glaring at him darkly.
“Oi,” Suna gritted his teeth, “are you saying you were using my little sister?”
All the boy did was gulped, too scared to say anything.
“It’s best if ya leave ya scrub,” Atsumu said threateningly.
“And stay away from her,” Kita warned.
“Y-Yes!” Was all the boy said before running away. You all smiled as you watched him running away. But the smile dropped when you all heard a small sniff coming from Himari. You wrapped one arm around her shoulder and bring her close to you as you said, “It’s okay…We are here for you.”
“Thank you,” Himari smiled at you and then looks at everyone else, “and thank you, guys…”
Everyone gave her a smile and a nod while Suna patted his little sister’s head. But the happy feeling was destroyed when Atsumu said, “Anytime! And next time if ya want, I can help ya make sure Suna never finds out. I’m good with secrets!”
“Oh really?” You smiled innocently at Atsumu. Atsumu let out a small cry, realize what he said, and remembered what he did earlier. Letting go of Himari, you walked up to Atsumu and patted his arm, making his flinch as the contact, “You’re good at secrets? Then tell me why you told them my secret?”
Atsumu let out a gulp, trying to avoid her eyes, but he suddenly thought of something and pleaded, “Kita! Help me!”
“I really liked the cake here,” Kita said thoughtfully at Aran, “they had my favorite.”
“That’s good,” Aran thoughtfully nodded, “we should come here next time with everyone else.”
“I agree.”
“K-Kita,” Atsumu cried, seeing his only savior ignoring him. Suna and Osamu chuckled at him, Suna already having his phone out to record the bee look-a-like being scolded.
“I’m waiting,” you tighten your hold on Atsumu’s arm.
“It’s his fault!” Atsumu pointed at Suna, “He was blackmailing me with embarrassing videos!”
“Atsumu,” you smiled evilly at him, letting go of his arm, “watch your back and just wait until practice tomorrow. It’s going to be fun. And if you tell anyone else… I’ll definitely kill you.”
“B-But,” Atsumu stared at you in shock, “I didn’t mean to! I’m sorry!”
“Anyway!” You turned around, looking at the time, “It’s almost 5… Do you want to go now, Miya?”
“Huh?” Osamu stopped laughing at his brother and looked at you, “Yeah we can go now.”
“What’s going on?” Suna asked, looking between the two of you.
“Miya needs some with figuring some stuff out,” you smiled at him.
“Ya can go ahead and go home without me,” Osamu patted Atsumu’s back.
“See ya at practice!” You said as you and Osamu started to walk in a different direction away from the group. Everyone wished you goodbye and then went to see if Atsumu was okay. Suna moved his hand in front of Atsumu’s face, trying to get a reaction out of him.
“Anyway,” Suna shrugged his shoulders, “what do you think Osamu and (Y/n) are doing?”
“Just admit you like her.”
“Didn’t you just got dumped?”
“Seriously?”
“Too soon?”

Cheer for me
Bokuto Koutarou
The practice match was one that you didn’t need to show up for, but coincidentally the cheer team was also practicing that day at the school; and the volleyball team insisted, that you show up in your uniform to lift the guys spirit for having to play a practice game on a Saturday. You tried to tell them that just like the boys when they practice, the cheer team doesn’t practice in their uniform. Their minds shattered into pieces, some starting to tear up at the realization, and so you conceded; telling them that you’ll come in your uniform.
So you stepped through the gymnasium doors, white and gold cheer uniform, pompoms in your hand; the boys straightened up. You had even gone the extra mile, hair put up in cute pigtails with the school colors as ribbons, a heart on your left and right cheek drawn with matching colors of your uniform.
The boys straightened up so fast once they saw you, blushes on their cheeks as your skirt swayed as you walked. Even the competing school couldn’t help but stare. A volleyball rolled in front of you, boys clattered to their feet to be the first to reach you.
“Hi.” The rat’s nest of his hair, a cheeky grin on his face, the red jacket on his shoulders signified he was part of the other school, “I’m Kuroo, I believe we haven’t met yet.”
He was promptly shoved aside, a foot knocking him to the ground. Your boyfriend stood in front of you, encasing you in the grandest hug as he twirled you.
“You look so good!” He’s peppering you with kisses, even letting his hand drag just ever so lightly on the back of your thigh, “Are you here for me?”
You laugh, a kiss on his cheek that sends him swooning, “I’m here for everyone!” You jump to the side, pom poms waving in the air, the way his hair slightly deflates makes you giggle, “But I’ll cheer for you the loudest!”
He straightens up, the largest grin on his lips as he skips over to Akaashi to point you out; as if your entrance didn’t attract literally everyone’s attention.
Oikawa Tooru
It was Monday and on Mondays he does many things that he can’t do on other days. He can take his time eating breakfast, he can casually focus on his studies, and at the end of the school day, instead of heading straight to the larger gymnasium like he would on most days, he takes a turn to head to one of the smaller gyms. As he reaches closer, he can already hear your voice echoing from the gym. Your back is turned on him, hands on your hips as you look at your team whose smiles are starting to grow.
You shriek when a hand comes out of no where to rest on your stomach, instinctively your elbow moves back, striking him right in the abdomen, “Oh my god, Tooru!” You smack his shoulder as he feels the pain in his abdomen, “Don’t scare me like that!” You turn back to your team, “everyone, ten minutes to warm up.”
“I think I’m dying.” He says as you lead him to one of the benches. He shoots you a grin, “I think it needs a kiss.”
You’re fully aware his hand is tapping against his abdomen and instead you press a quick kiss to his lips, “You should have told me you were coming. I wouldn’t have elbowed you.”
Oikawa pulls you to sit on his leg, keeping you secure with a hand on your waist, “I was hoping that I would be able to see you in your uniform.”
You roll your eyes, “Do you guys practice in your uniform?”
He pouts, “No, but I’m thinking I might suggest to the captain of the cheer team that they should practice with their uniforms.” His lips touch against your chin, “I can be very convincing.”
Your arms wrap themselves around his shoulders, “Suggestion denied.” When the coach walks in, you’re quick to swat his hands away to stand to your feet.
The cheer coach notices Oikawa, “Deciding to watch our practice today?”
He grins, flashing the widest smile he can to the coach, “Yes! It isn’t every day that I get to cheer for our cheer team!”
Tsukishima Kei
You were purposely doing this, purposely trying to throw him off of his game. In a cheer uniform, pompoms sitting in front of you as you stretched on the ground. It was all fun and games in the beginning; losing a bet with him and the smug smirk on his face when he said that you had to show up to his practice and cheer for only him. He knew it would be embarrassing for you, it’d be embarrassing for anyone to have to cheer for someone loudly at a practice. It wasn’t even a practice game with another school, just a plain old practice day.
So yeah, you were going to make him as embarrassed as you were. You had purposely ignored him for a week to get your outfit ready; a black pleated skirt with orange details you personally sewed on yourself, a cropped long sleeve shirt that just barely showed the skin of your body, and you had even printed the school name on the front with his name on the back. Under your left cheek, you wrote his jersey number in black and orange colors.
“You’re the worst.” He approaches you who’s sitting on the sidelines.
You wave the pompoms in the air, looking up to him, “You’re the best!” Your cheer makes him scowl more while others giggle in the back. You’re grinning, the happiest smile in the world on your face, “That was a great block Tsukki!”
He throws his water bottle to you, a blush creeping on his cheeks, “Shut up.”
You scream out happily as he walks back to the court, “Go! Tsukki!”
“Be quiet!” He shouts back at you, his voice snapping but his face flushed, “Go Home!”
“No!” You disobey his order, the pompoms waving, “Let’s go Tsukki! Block another one!”
He’s deep crimson at this point, his whole game thrown off for the day but it’s safe to say that barely anyone could pay attention with you cheering his name every five minutes. He regrets the bet, but he can’t help but stare at how he likes the way his name is on the back of your shirt.
“Did you like my cheer for you today!” You’re hanging onto his arm as he throws your pompoms into his bag. You’re purposely also acting all lovey dovey, just to mess with him a little more. He only grunts in response, “You know, the other girlfriends absolutely loved this idea. They want to make some of their own so we can all wear it to the next game, we were thinking of just making shirts with the school logo.”
He stares down at you, fingers playing with the end of your skirt, “I like this one.” He bluntly states, “It tells everyone that you’re mine.”
Miya Osamu
Everything was getting under his skin, he was uneasy, uncomfortable, just what were they planning. It had been thirty minutes since he walked into the gym, Atsumu and Suna with matching eerie smirks on their face as they said something that shook him to the core “we have a surprise for you later”. It struck panic, he spent almost all of warm up looking over his shoulder, running faster than Atsumu, even sticking close to Kita just in case.
But his eyes narrowed at the way the two were walking into the gym after disappearing for ten minutes. They snickered and giggled as they looked at him, pointing to the gym doors and he sees it. He wasn’t sure if this was supposed to be a good surprise out of kindness or an evil surprise to make him flustered. He thinks the latter, because as you walked in, a blush grew to his ears.
“Hi everyone!” Your voice draws the attention of the volleyball team. Your cheer uniform flowing as you step forward, pom poms in your hands resting on your hip and you look over the group, “In an unfortunate circumstance.” You look at the two laughing second years, Suna already has his phone out on video, “I have a message for someone in this room.”
Osamu feels his heart dropping. Your gaze meets his and you’re taking in a deep breath.
You wave the pom poms in the air, a grin on your face, “Miya Osamu!” Blood is rushing to Osamu’s head, he may just pass out. The pompoms drop from your hands, your arms fall to your chest and your fingers form hearts, you wink in his direction, “Have a great day at practice!” You take a step forward, finger pressing against your lips to blow a kiss in his direction,  “You’re going to do great!” You’re arms form a heart over your head.
His hands fly to his face, boys are snickering, some are jealous; Suna is replaying the video so loud it’s echoing in his ear. Atsumu throws an arm around your shoulder, slipping you money to which you take happily.
“Ain’t she the cutest.” Atsumu pinches your cheek and you elbow him in the stomach.
You raise the cash at the boys, “All for money boys.”
Atsumu leans on you, loudly enough for Osamu to hear, he teases, “How much for you to follow Osamu around for a whole day in your uniform cheering for him?”
Your eyes catch onto the boy who peeks through his fingers, his hands don’t hide the blush, “Since he’s so cute, I’ll do it for fifty.” Osamu throws his head back, “Free if he walks me home.”
The boys are hollering, you smile sweetly as you pick up your pompoms, legs skipping out the door after you shoot him another wink. He suddenly feels blood dripping from his nose.

THE FEELING OF HIM
with: college!suna; gn!reader
content: fluffy af, mildly suggestive (not rlly but mentions sex), best friends to lovers, fwb to lovers, mutual pining
wc: 1.3k
a/n: idk how this ended up being so long lmao whoops,, I do hope you enjoy it though!
Tumblr media
it was your first year at college. you ran through the halls of what was now the fifth building you’d checked for your first class. finally spotting the three digit number you memorized from your schedule, you rushed through the doors, hoping you’d make it just in time.
you didn’t make it very far though. as you walked in, you were stopped short by the presence of a tall, dark haired boy already being scolded by your statistics professor, who made a comment about your tardiness on top of his. after enduring your professors wrath, you hastily sat down in one of the far back rows of the room, losing sight of the boy who walked in before you. a few minutes after you settled, you heard a low voice behind you, “hey. I didn’t catch your name.” turning back, you came face to face with the boy again, who was slightly leaning in as he waited for your response. you hesitantly responded, earning a nod and his casual introduction. “cool, you can call me rin.”
you and rin grew inseparably close after that day. your gatherings were initially limited to the classes and lunches you shared, but when second semester rolled around, you’d began going over to each other’s places, hanging out outside of school, and eventually talking everyday without fail. you found yourself growing more comfortable with rin than you’d ever felt around anyone. he quickly became your closest friend.
it was one of the nights rin was sleeping over at your place. your roommate went home for the weekend, and you’d thought it’d be fun for the two of you to have a movie night — something you’d grown accustomed to. not even fifteen minutes in and the two of you found yourselves in a deep conversation, the movie nothing more than comforting noise background to the words of your best friend. you’d gotten to the topic of relationships and in your cathartic state, you’d express how touch starved you’d felt for the past few months. you didn’t intend to admit it, but rin immediately pulled you in for a hug without any questions. it was platonic. it was meant to be platonic...
but you found yourself enjoying his closeness in a way that was different. he found himself enjoying the heat radiating off your skin, wanting to feel more of it. you pulled away, hoping to escape what you decided was to be a one-time thought. but rin looked into your eyes, drowning you in the feeling of him.
and as he began to pull you closer, his eyes trained on your lips, you stopped listening to the voice of reason screaming inside. you let him kiss you. and you kissed him back.
his soft kisses grew needier as his movements grew bolder. he kissed along the trace of your collarbone, working his way around your body, aching to explore every foreign piece of you. and with every okay you gave him, every time you looked into his eyes with the same hunger he possessed, he found himself falling deeper.
it was the next morning, and when you woke up to an unusual emptiness beside you, you remembered the past nights events. rin always woke up after you when he slept over. and if for some reason he didn’t, he’d scroll through his phone waiting for you to wake up.
your worries were put to rest when you saw him walk in with apology pancakes.
apology pancakes became a tradition after the first time you and rin got into an argument. you decided to make him pancakes, knowing they were one of his favourite meals, and apologize to him the morning after your fight. since then, every time something went wrong in your friendship, apology pancakes came in order. it was a signal of peace. a reminder of how much one meant to the other. any mistakes were always forgiven.
“it doesn’t have to be weird.” he said, sitting next to you on the bed. “please, we don’t have to make what happened weird.” you nodded in agreement. and decidedly, things went back to normal. but it didn’t last very long.
naturally, there was a party the next weekend. rin asked if you’d wanted to go, mentioning the host’s house had a pool. he came to your apartment to pick you up, as he usually did when the two of you hung out.
it was the same as any other weekend. so why couldn’t he keep his eyes off you as he walking in your room, watching you finish the touch ups of your look? his eyes graced the trace of your figure and he couldn’t help the quiet “wow” that slipped out of his mouth.
when you looked at him, you found yourself thinking back to the night you shared. the same heat was present in his gaze. he couldn’t help himself, and neither could you.
you didn’t end up going to the party.
it became conventional that when either of you needed a quick fix, you’d call the other. your arrangement was nothing more than an extension to your friendship. you’d discussed the possibility but concluded your desire for each other was simply for sexual purposes. there was no romantic aspect in your relationship. and it was true. you both believed it was true.
it wasn’t until you noticed the changes. a few months into your “fwb” ordeal, and things were still going smoothly. except, the kisses were sweeter. rin’s touch was softer. you found yourself wanting to give him a quick kiss at the most random of times. your last thought at night, as you drifted to sleep would always be him, whether he was next to you or not. despite his own actions, you told yourself it was one-sided. you needed to get over it.
but rin noticed it too. he found himself wanting to spend the entire day with you, in favour of his usual alone time. he caught himself thinking about the way your lips felt on his neck, and how it was his favourite feeling. when he was with you, his hands found themselves rushing to your hair, wanting to hold you closer to him, instead of their usual path to your thighs.
it was another movie night. you both sat comfortably on his living room couch, watching a comedy you’ve both seen one too many times. your head rested on his shoulder as you laughed softly at the tv. you felt him pull you closer, which usually meant one thing.
“I thought we were just chilling tonight?” you looked up to him, wondering if he changed his mind.
“can’t I just hold you?” he defended, with a little too much sincerity.
“yeah I guess..” you trailed off, not wanting to begin an argument. but after couple minutes, the bitter thoughts still plagued your mind.
“actually no. you can’t.”
he raised his brow in confusion, prodding you to explain.
“you can’t just hold me like that. because that’s not what we are. and we can’t be that-“
“why not?”
you looked up at him in shock. he knew why. your friendship was more important than the risk. why was he playing dumb?
“look.. I know we’ve been scared to explore whatever this is between us. but I can’t pretend that I don’t think about you every minute of the day. and when I see you, it’s like nothing else matters, because I get to spend the time with you, my favourite person. I know that we’re both scared a relationship will ruin our friendship, but our friendship hasn’t been the same ever since that first night. and I don’t regret a minute of it, because falling in love with you, has made every moment of doubt worth the idea of being loved by you.”
you felt every fear you developed over the past few months dissipate with his words. you eased yourself once again in the feeling of him, in a way that felt new, and trusting.
it was the day you admitted to yourself that it was okay to love your best friend, no matter how much you wanted to tell yourself otherwise. it was the day you allowed yourself to be loved by rin.

♡〜 All teams with reader who doesn’t fight they just say the most hurtful things, like they cussed out tsukki one time and didn’t let him breath 😩 ( gender neutral )  Just sexual tension headcanons 😩 how would all teams react too a mean teammate that brings people down then just flirts〜♡
Haikyuu Teams x gender neutral reader
There’s so many teams bro. For the sake of my sanity, imma do most interesting characters or what comes to mind while writing. Also, I felt like since we know Karasuno the most it’s only fair I do all of them.
At the home stretch I thought I’d used putty too much so I just said ‘clay’
Also I don’t think this is a very nice thing to do, sweetie
Requested: Yes
Sexual Tension Haikyuu Headcanons (don’t know a better title)
Warnings: Sexual tension, swearing, mentions of nsfw, haikyuu season 4 spoilers in the Kageyama bit
16+
Aoba Johsai
Tumblr media
Oikawa lives for this shit
He will pretend as if he’s affected by the insults just to flirt with you. You can tell in the end that he wasn’t affected, but you go with it anyway because the sexual tension is through the roof. Oikawa being Oikawa, he’ll probably pull you away to make out.
The first few times Iwaizumi tries to break it up, but after a while he gets used to it.
But the first time you do it to Iwaizumi he doesn’t give a single fuck. These insults are stuff that anyone could say; unless you say something that only Oikawa, as his childhood friend, knows, then that’ll hurt. So until then, he’s basically invulnerable.
He’d be angry after the those mean comments, but I think Iwa would be good at angry sex
Mattsun’s a chill mf that would insult you back light-heartedly and he would not care about the comments. On the other hand, he will flirt back. After he knows about your antics and when he sees that he’s going to be your target, he’ll just pull you aside to make out and make fun of each other. Though, if he’s in a bit of mood, he will build up the sexual tension with you.
Makki is snarky as well, so he will insult you back and make it a competition. In the end, of course, you win since you do this on the daily. Keep in mind that mean comments don’t affect him, it’s only the fact that he lost the competition that does. He feels a little embarrassed when you start flirting with him, especially if you flirt with pity. “Aww, little Maki feeling down?” cup his chin with your hand i beg of you
Kyotani will also make the insulting a competition, but his insults are pathetic even compared to Makki’s since he lets yours get to his temper. Flirting with him would make him tsundere-like, but he will accept a few kisses, maybe even make out. He’s not experienced at all, which is what makes him reluctant. Of course, if he were, angry sex would be amazing
You bet your ass that somebody will make out with you after a match because you insult and flirt with them, even if it distracts them. “Hey, nice ass!” As they jog to go serve and, “That spike was pathetic!” even when they spike a kill. Somebody’s gonna shout “shut up” or “fuck off”
Date Tech
Tumblr media
Aone would simply not give a fuck about the insults. But the flirting will get him flustered. Good luck on trying to kiss him though, cause he won’t try to kiss you and you can’t tiptoe to his height.
But he will always try to stop you if he ever catches you trying to do the same to anybody else, except for Futakuchi. He knows that his captain likes the flirting part.
Futakuchi will make the insult a competition but he will be affected by your snarky comments. In the end, what signals his defeat is him groaning - really loudly - and falling to the ground dramatically. Pick him up, tease him for it, and you got putty in your hands.
Fukurodani
Tumblr media
Mean comments will get to Bokuto’s ego. He tries to fight back with his own, but that doesn’t affect you. Eventually, he’s going to turn into depressed Bokuto. Akaashi will scold you for this if it’s the first time, but when you assure him that “You got this” he’ll let you try to entertain the ace.
The flirting made him perk up and react as if you were comforting him, which makes him forget you were the one who insulted him in the first place. In the end, he’ll accept a kiss, but he’s too dense to register the sexual tension.
Akaashi will not give a fuck about your insults unless, like Iwaizumi, they’re based off something that nobody else knows. Until you don’t know those things, he will not accept your flirting either.
Once you do, and you get him dejected and all, the only way flirting will build up sexual tension for him is an apologetic undertone.
Konoha insults back and makes it a competition but the only way he stands a chance is if the mean comments don’t make it to his ego, which they do. He also makes flirting a competition, it’s just in his nature.
Inarizaki
Tumblr media
When you insult either of the twins, the one you’re making fun of calls for the other. It’s the only way that they’ll cooperate with each other. Even so, you’re much better at making fun of them than they are. Mean comments Osamu will still get to his ego, but it won’t hurt him as much as it does to Atsumu. Suna will record the whole thing.
Flirting with Osamu makes him realize that the insults didn’t mean shit, thus restoring his ego. He’ll flirt back and, instead of only suggesting something explicit, he’ll mostly likely invite you for a dinner date ‘cause he knows his cooking is amazing. He doesn’t mean it, but he won’t mind if you actually do take his offer.
Flirting with Atsumu makes him confused. Granted, the flirting still gets him flustered, but he will be fighting back with insults or bragging about himself; something like, “Ah, so you realize that I am much better than you think I was!” At some point he will give and just kiss you right then and there.
Aran is unfazed by your mean comments, knowing that you do the same thing with the others. Also because of this, he knows you don’t mean the flirting either. Unless you compliment and flirt with him genuinely, you’re not getting anywhere near romantic with him.
Kita is the same, except he will bluntly shut down your efforts.
Suna won’t be affected by the insults. Depending on his mood, he either flirts back - though extremely lazily - or just smiles cheekily. His face tells you that he’s accepting the flirting, but he just won’t flirt back. He will make the first move to making out if he thinks you’re taking too long.
Itachiyama
Tumblr media
Kiyoomi just says no. That’s it. He does not give a single shit about you unless you do anything like touch him or make a move, which makes him annoyed at you.
At first, Komori tries to fight back your insults with positivity. When you don’t stop, he insults you, and he means it sincerely. After that, he realizes you don’t actually put any weight behind your mean comments. At that point, you make fun of each other with no problem.
He’s not affected by your insults, only pretending that he is by saying “Meanie!”
The first time you did this, he acted dejected to see what you’d do. He did not expect you to start flirting with him, but boy, did he enjoy it.
From then on, your friendship was full of flirting and making fun of each other.
Johzenji
Tumblr media
Terushima is basically the only Johzenji member we really know, so here we go
The insults will hurt his ego. He tries to insult you back - they’re horrible insults - and use his captain status as a way to get you to stop but you certainly won’t. When he’s absolutely done, he’ll go sulk in a corner, which is a great opportunity to kabedon and start flirting.
He’ll be surprised (with his dumb himbo brain and all) but since he lives off of flirting, he’ll flirt back and completely forget about the insulting earlier.
Tongue piercing makes making out much better
Karasuno
Tumblr media
Chaos.
Daichi tries to stop you, no matter what, even if he’s the victim. He’s not affected by your insults, like Iwa and Akaashi, unless they’re personal. Even then, he’s realized that you don’t mean them. Flirting does fluster him, though it doesn’t build up sexual tension unless your friendship already had sexual tension without the flirting.
The next groups count on the fact that they’re not the victim.
There’s the ones that try to stop you, that is if they’re not the victim: Asahi, Nishinoya, Tanaka, Ennoshita, and Hinata.
Then there’s the ones that sit back and relax, probably with popcorn: Sugawara (he ‘tries’ to stop you but he only says “Hey, stop!” really weakly) and Tsukishima (he probably joins along with Suga) The others give them side-eye, cause dude, they’re literally insulting your teammate, what the heck! And then they point out that you don’t mean it.
Finally, there’s the ones that want to interfere but are just too shy to interfere or they just think it’s not their place to do so: Yamaguchi, Narita, and Kinoshita. Yams cause Tsukki is literally acting as if this were a show and Narita and Kinoshita because they’re both awkward babies.
Kageyama is just unfazed, as if this were a normal thing.
Then when it comes to the flirting part, everybody is confused and or shocked, with a few exceptions.
Sugawara would’ve been unfazed by your antics. He’s very observant, so he can already insult you as well. Like I said, he already knew you didn’t mean it, so flirting comes easy. He’s down to make out.
Asahi would already be very scared and intimidated from the mean comments, but when you start flirting - with a pitiful undertone - he’s basically a puppy that wants affection. He’s not experienced at all and would be shocked with a mere kiss, so he’s not the ideal ‘victim’.
Nishinoya would make both flirting and insulting a competition. Suga told him that you didn’t mean it, which urged him on. He would not let the mean comments get to his ego, but the flirting would. Especially if you praised him.
Tanaka’s ego would get hurt, but it’s restored when he realizes you don’t mean it. Before he does, though, he insults you back the best he can. He’s a little awkward, so he wouldn’t flirt back very well. He tries one time, and then he finds out he’s awful at it, so he just lets you do your thing. He’s down to kiss, but he’s not experienced at all.
Ennoshita would frown and sit through your insults, realizing that you didn’t mean it a while after Sugawara and Tsukki. He does get a bit annoyed, which isn’t redeemed by your flirting. In spite of that, he does get flustered and almost lets the sexual tension break him; but unless you’re genuine, like Aran, you’re not getting anywhere.
Kinoshita is putty in your hands any day of the week.
Narita is way too awkward for either insulting or flirting, so he basically sits there blankly with a red face. He’s down for kissing though.
Kageyama is once again unfazed by your mean comments, unless they’re about him being King of the Court before Hinata tells him it’s fine. As for flirting, he’ll turn as stiff as a rock and stare at you with the widest eyes and the cutest blush. There is no flirting back. He’s down for kissing, but absolutely cannot comprehend making out.
Hinata insults you back but the mean comments don’t affect him too much. When flirting comes, after a few seconds of being frozen, he explodes like a flare. No flirting back either. One kiss, that’s it.
Yamaguchi is also putty in your hands, but he’s completely inexperienced and can only kiss - in a chaste way, at that.
Tsukki insults back, but when you get a taste of how he acts and how snarky he is, you try hard. He does not get a single breath and cannot say anything back because you won’t let him. What hurts his ego isn’t your insults, but the fact that he couldn’t even let a single word out. He’s also a little angry at himself. Flirt with him while making fun of him and have a “I’m better than you” undertone to put him in his place. It’s either cause I really like him or I think it’s true, but I think he’d be good at angry sex.
Of course, the others would be shocked, especially Yamaguchi. Hinata, Nishinoya, Suga, and Tanaka would’ve loved to rub it in his face, and they would’ve if it weren’t for you flirting with him.
Shiratorizawa
Tumblr media
Most of them are dry mfs except for Tendo.
Ushi is entirely blank faced and would’ve ‘insulted’ you - he calls it constructive criticism - if you hadn’t followed up with flirting. That said, he doesn’t even react to that either. The only thing that flirting did was reassure him that you didn’t mean anything you said. He’s just blunt, straight-forward and emotionless. I headcanon he’s demisexual.
Semi Semi is very annoyed at you when you give him mean comments. In a way, your insults do give you what you wanted. With his short temper, he’s prone to having angry sex, and your flirting really helps with that.
Shirabu’s reaction really depends on your year.
If you’re an upperclassman, Shirabu will sit right through it and call it ‘constructive criticism’; that’s how much his respect blinds him. But when you start flirting, god, he is clay. If you show a little pity and persuade him to flirt back, he will. It’s a little pathetic, but he’ll do it.
If you’re his year or the year below, he will bicker with you, as long as there are no upperclassmen around. Your insults really do affect his ego, but he’ll pull a straight face as he bickers with you. When he’s dejected by the fact that you don’t seem affected, you start flirting. He’s flustered, hiding the lower half of his face with his hands. Just like before, he won’t flirt back. He is entirely incapable.
He’ll be shy, but he’s down for making out.
Tendo is the besssst
He can tell that you don’t mean it, so insulting turns into making fun of each other and having fun. Flirting is mutual and also has a side of making fun of each other. You’re totally gonna be fuck buddies.

Hello hello💜hope you are well💜💓 i see your requests are open🙈 maybe you please write an angst(to fluff if you want) im not sure how to explain my idea 🙈 but imagine Akaashi, Suna, Kita the twins, Semi, tendous reaction(or scenario) where their best friend or teammate went to go pick up the boys s/o for them and bring them to practice but instead of walking in with their s/o, he comes rushing towards them with like cuts and bruises apologizing and crying (or calling from the hospital) because on their way to practice he accidentally caused a car accident and with their s/o in the car a she got badly injured and was sent to the hospital (Hopefully this isn't confusing 😅 you can added or remove who you want)
Hi, I hope you are good too! Thank you for this, I’ll actually take out Akaashi and Tendou and just do Suna, Kita, Semi and the twins! I hope you don’t mind!
Special Mention so she can suffer and she asked: @caxsthetic
Suna Rintarou
He had asked Atsumu to bring Y/N to his practice, but what he didn’t know was that something else would’ve happen. Then again, how could he guess? He could only presume that something awful had happened when Atsumu came racing in, his face flushed and his eyes wide in fear as he looked over at Suna.
“Suna--”
“Where’s Y/N?” He asked immediately, knowing that something was wrong. Then he noticed it. The amount of cuts and bruises on him and how he was apologizing profusely with his voice almost cracking from apology.
“W-We got into an accident and she had to be taken away and she’s in the hospital right now, but I had to come tell you and no one has told me anything at all--”
Suna didn’t hear another word that Atsumu said as he sprinted out of the gym, his usually logical mind now going into overdrive as he started running to the hospital, albeit being about 10 miles away. The only thing keeping him going was making sure that Y/N was okay, that she was alive.
Stepping into the hospital, he quickly asked for the whereabouts of Y/N. He could barely remember the way, his own body was racing towards the place he would find her in. Knocking on the door, he holds his breath and glares at the door as if trying to convince it to let him in.
A doctor opened the door and saw him and he said, “Let me go in, Y/N’s in there, isn’t she? Please let me go in!”
Y/N stirred on her bed, reaching for the voice at the door. “Rintarou--”
The doctor let him go inside as he went to her side, taking her hand in both of his before pressing his forehead to it. He breathed out shakily, before saying, “You scared me so much, Atsumu came in freaked out.”
“I’m okay. I’m still here.” She smiled down at him and ran her other hand through his hair. “I’ll always be here for you, I promise.” She kissed the top of his head, not wanting to tell him about the clock ticking over her life.
~
Kita Shinsuke
The only person that could truly tear away his usually serious expression was Akagi. Akagi, who was always happy and always had a smile on his face, had currently raced into the gym with the most panic struck face he had ever seen on the libero. Disconcerting...no, that wasn’t the word. Unnerving.
“I-It’s Y/N, we got into a car crash and she’s at the hospital right now and ohmygod, Shinsuke, I’m so sorry, this is all my fault!” Akagi wailed as he gripped his hair in his hands.
That was when he noticed the cuts and bruises on Akagi’s body and the specks of blood dotting his arms. If he was in this shape, Kita couldn’t imagine what Y/N’s situation was. He looked at Aran, who nodded, knowing that he was now in charge as Kita rushed out of the gym, trying to get to the hospital in the fastest way possible.
All that was rushing through his head were the words She’s fine, she’s okay, she’s going to be okay, please let her be okay...
Getting to the hospital was faster than he thought it would be. However, the hospital had gotten an absurd number of patients and now there was a line to the receptionist. An hour ticked by and he was finally allowed to see her. “Where is Y/N L/N?”
“Floor five.”
Kita chose the stairs instead of taking the elevator, trying to move as fast as he could to get to her, his usually rational mind whirring into overdrive before knocking on the door. He wanted to push past it immediately but the doctors opened it, looking at him. Kita asked, “Is Y/N in there? Is she okay? Where is she?”
The doctor went to him and took a deep breath. “Sir, I’m going to need you to step out for a bit.”
Usually he wouldn’t go against this but he needed to make sure she was okay. “Please let me--”
“Y/N L/N is dead. She bled out and died at 6:39 pm.”
It was 6:43. He had been late by four minutes. There was nothing he could do or say to bring her back to life. His legs became numb as the feeling sunk in and he pressed a hand over his mouth, trying to hold back his pitiful sounds but failing, his vision blurring as he realized that he would never be able to love Y/N again.
He’d never see her again.
~
Semi Eita
There was nothing to prepare him for what was going to happen and how his world would turn upside down with just a few words. He had asked Tendou to go and pick Y/N up, not knowing that something grave was going to happen. The tension in the air became clear when Tendou barreled through the door.
Taking one good look at his friend covered in injuries, Semi’s heart leaped to his throat and he asked, “Where’s Y/N?”
“Semi, I’m so sorry, we got into a car crash and she’s at the hospital right now and I--”
Not Semi Semi. He was being serious right now and his eyes were dead serious about it too. Grabbing his stuff and racing out of the gym without hearing anyone, Semi raced towards the hospital, pleading that Y/N was okay in his mind and chanting it over and over again like a mantra.
He didn’t realize how fast he was going or register what he was doing until he found himself climbing the stairs up to her room, already had been told where she was by the receptionist. Once he saw her room, he was about to go and enter until someone ushered him away.
“That’s my Y/N in there, let me see her!” He almost shouted.
“I’m sorry, sir, but you cannot see her right now. We will let you know when you are able to, please have a seat.”
Semi did as he was told, his leg bouncing up and down as the minutes ticked by agonizingly slow. It felt to him like they were keeping him hanging until the door opened and he was allowed to go inside. He practically barreled through the door and saw Y/N on her bed, grinning at him as she waved him over. Sinking into the chair next to her, he grabbed her hand and pressed her forehead on it, breathing shakily.
"I thought I lost you."
"You didn't. I'm here now. I'm still here with you like I promised I would be." Leaning over to kiss the top of his head, they both stayed like that as long as they could, content in the other’s presence.
~
Osamu Miya
There were several stories to tell about someone’s life. Maybe someone won an award, maybe they got married and had a kid, maybe they got the job they had always wanted. There was always something to say.
But what came out of Osamu’s life wasn’t what he wanted. He didn’t want Y/N to get hurt in this way. He had just asked Suna to go and pick Y/N up from her place to bring her to the gym. He should’ve known something was up just from Suna’s lateness. He was most punctual, except for this time.
Soon enough, he found out what was wrong. His heart sank at the sight of Suna, no Y/N trailing after him. Specks of blood, scratches and the fearful and desperate look in his eye, all of this combined to form one thought in Osamu’s head: Y/N isn’t okay.
“Osamu, you need to get to the hospital right now, Y/N and I got into a car crash, she was unconscious, I’m so sorry--”
Osamu didn’t need to hear anything else as he grabbed his jacket and sprinted to the train station, his heart pounding in his ears, not being aware of anyone around him. Like a mantra in his head, he started pleading that Y/N was still alive. His mind had immediately jumped to the worst scenario and it was all he could do to not break down.
Getting to the hospital took thirty minutes and in Osamu’s eyes, that was way too long. He merely asked for her room and raced up the stairs, not confiding in any of the elevators to take him up there fast enough. He felt like he was going in slow motion as he finally reached the floor she was in and rushed to the room he was told she’d be in.
None of the doctors would let him in. Osamu only wanted to see her and the doctors didn’t want to let him see her in her position. After begging to go inside, he saw her.
He only spared a glance at her corpse before the reality sunk in and he collapsed on the floor, screaming into his hands, hot tears racing down his face as he yelled at himself for not getting there faster. Her smiling face, her laughter, everything about her.
Now out of his reach.
~
Atsumu Miya
Expect the unexpected, everyone said. Expect it so as to not lose your mind and slowly lose yourself. Expect the worst so that you never get surprised or upset when it happens. Atsumu thought those ideals were awful. Especially after what had happened.
He merely asked Osamu to pick Y/N up so that he could go out with her after his practice and Osamu reluctantly agreed, after he made Atsumu promise that he’d bring food back home. If it came to Y/N, he’d do anything, he just wanted to see her. He didn’t know that that idea would be put to the test soon enough.
An hour later, Osamu was nowhere in sight and Atsumu frowned. Why was he late? His question got answered when he got a call from his twin brother. Without even saying a word, Atsumu got his answer. “’Tsumu, you need to get to the hospital right now. We got into an accident, Y/N--she isn’t looking too good, you need to get here right NOW.”
With the amount of sheer despair in his tone, Atsumu knew this wasn’t a prank as he found himself dashing to the hospital. Osamu was in the lobby, looking like a dead man walking. Atsumu hurried over to him and blurted, “Where is she, what room?”
Time was melting, or so he felt as he willed the elevator to go faster, regretting it on the spot. Getting to her room, he pounded on the door, almost shrieking to let him in. Nothing. He was only allowed to pace outside, his legs becoming jelly under him.
When he was finally let in, he pushed past the doctors, albeit them warning him about something. Then he saw her on the bed.
The heart monitor was barely beeping and her chest was barely rising and she looked like she was on the verge of death. He knew she was and with tears blurring his vision, he sat next to her and grabbed her hand. Maybe it was just his imagination but it was already getting cold. Trying to get that thought out of his head. “Hey, Y/N, I’m here. I’m here, we still haven’t gone on that date yet. Come on, wake up, open your eyes. Please, Y/N, please wake up...please...”
The monitor stopped beeping and her hand went limp in his. He tried so hard not to let his emotions show, but as he pressed his forehead to her hand, it was the choked sobs and wails that could’ve broken anyone listening. It broke him.
It broke him to know he’d never see her again.

-tried to make it a bit long so you could enjoy , happy birthday I hope you have a fun day 🥺
Celebrating your birthday
Goshiki
- you always praised goshiki ever since youd been dating you would tell him how amazing he was , how he was the best player on his team , encourage the way he talked badly about his opposing teams ace saying his was much better and he’d be even more awesome when he took ushijimas spot as ace
- goshiki has never felt like he’s done enough to be awarded your praise though he won’t tell you
- no not when you place kisses all over his face and on his red stained hands from hitting the ball so hard that night, applying moisturizer on his callouses he’d gotten from the constant beat down at practice or even just kissing him softly and whispering you got this in his ear the night before a game.
- For weeks youd been telling goshiki your birthday was coming up but why had he suddenly gone missing ? your boyfriend was MIA everyday since youd told him. He was always working late and coming home at 2 am walking through the house only to fall into bed and ignore the hugs you tried to provide for his tired body Him falling asleep as soon as you sighed and took it on your own accord to wrap your arms around his waist and pull him back into you
-It was enevitable that he would have a game on your birthday him explaining that he felt horrible and could happily ditch it your brain knowing that he would only be sad the whole day if you let him. No matter how much volleyball came in between you two for the last few weeks you’d still been adamant about wanting the best for him. You telling him with a smile you didn’t care what you did for your birthday as long as you spent it with him. though you did ask for your present to be what he always teased you about telling you that one day he would get you a seat on his teams bench so you could see him play up close.
- you never actually thought he’d do it. You thanking everyone as they walked past you on the bench gifting you your small happy birthdays before the match began
- your heart swelling everytime you saw your boyfriend make a point and it wasn’t until the last few seconds of the match that you felt something was off
The air swirled around you as your body felt a chill run through it your eyes making contact with your boyfriends as he looked away and jumped in the air his serious face focused on nothing other than that moment as the whistle sounded. His teammates eyes widened in shock as they held their mouths open goshikis eyes falling to his hands looking in amazement before he looked down and realized there was a body clinging to him yelling into his chest
Your loud cries falling from your mouth before you or anyone else could speak
“ YOU MADE THE LAST SHOT —A CROSS SHOT BABY — YOU WON THE GAME “
You’d never thought this is what would have made your day. Him blinking twice before he ran off the court trying to get you as far away from the cheers of his team and coach as he could
ignoring the protest from the referees that stated he couldn’t do it screaming at him that he had to say his thanks firsts.
he scooped you up in his arms kissing you harshly before pulling back to breathe heavily him half expecting to see a smile when he looked down at you only to see your face concentrated on the floor trying to understand all these past weeks him explaining it for you
“I was working —- working so hard on perfecting the cross shot for you baby “ his sweaty jersey clinging to him as he smiled widely at you who was spluttering nothing but small praises for him
“ every night after practice —I spent perfecting it so you could come here tonight and see i’m not a loser — that’s what I wanted to give you for your birthday I didn’t know what else to give you “
he felt his eyes trying to water as he wiped his wet jersey over his face “ your always saying how you want me to master what I love to do and I— i did it and I — I gifted it to you — and I just I love you so much — your so dedicated to me that you came here on your birthday and I “
“ I wanted nothing else all I wanted was to be with you — that’s all I wanted to do and seeing you perfect something that you’ve been trying to do since I met you is just “ you planted your head on his chest “ it’s amazing your so cool goshiki “
Your boyfriends head spinning rapidly when all your praises suddenly hit him now knowing the only thing that could make this better would be to show off that he’d just scored the last point and won the game for his team
He felt on top of the world right now he had his fine ass s/o wrapped around him like a teddy bear and he was being praised and told there was no one as cool as him in the world
His brain short circuited as the team tried to pull you away to stop feeding his ego until they just sighed and let goshiki tell them how much better of an ace he was gonna be than ushijima your eyes going hard on ushijima as you mumbled “ birthday “
your boyfriend not seeing the shake that ran through the taller males body at the one word that had been laced with so much malice and just a slight teasing to it as if daring him to diagree and as brutally honest as ushijima was he was not stupid
he shook his head up and down quickly only agreeing that goshiki did have a chance with a reassuring yes slipping out after. His hand immediately grabbing tendous arm to walk away in fear of you
Your birthday being made as you saw the male in front of you happy that’s all that mattered to you right now. This is what made your day your boyfriend working hard on something not only because of himself but because he wanted to impress you that was when you felt loved.
That was the best birthday present knowing you’d always be engraved in someone’s mind as the simple push — the person that helped them better what they couldn’t do on their own.
sakusa
-sakusa honestly didn’t know what to do for your birthday he knew anything you’d come up with he’d have to go out of his comfort zone so he was trying to mentally prepare himself for that fact alone 2 months prior to your birthday
- he wasn’t that surprised when you said that all you wanted for your birthday was to go out to eat lunch with your boyfriend at least once. Him rolling his eyes asking why you two couldnt just order takeout and he could buy you some dollar decorations and could pop a happy birthday pin on you and call it a day
- you only answering with a straight faced and voice monotoned “ we’ve had takeout 2 weeks in a row ‘kusa “
-“ and it was good—no ? we enjoyed our own house atmosphere and being alone yes ? “
-“ and it was cold because you made us clean off the table then switch the plates that the food came in then wash our hands then for the last step watch as we reheated it. His eyes rolling as he plopped on the couch agreeing to go out but only with setting rules and boundaries for himself on this small birthday party between you two
- you two would only go somewhere he knew they cleaned and wore gloves to cook. or even at least might wipe down the tables and somehwrr he would be comfortable with by knowing the owners
- which is how you two ended up at onigiri miya with osuma giving you guys a discount off -- which wasn’t that much may I say —- atsuma siting with suna while he snapped pictures posting them to the group chat with the caption ‘ our germbabies first day out ‘
- you sighing happily as you looked to your left and right oh yeah his other rule was the two tables next to you had to be pushed as far away from yours as possible because he wouldn’t go if you two were just going to be packed and seated in the middle of the restaurant with people he didn’t know
“ I hope your happy “ his tone was snappy and accusing as he gripped his mask away from his face directing his spoon under the mask slowly
“ ‘kusa come on take off your mask “
he grunted rolling his eyes at you “ havent you gotten enough “
“ please wanna see your pretty face “ he felt heat spread throughout his body and spread across his face as he muttered small protests and profanities at your words
the mask being pulled off and crumbled in his right hand looking at you heavily “ god anything else you want —want to take away my sanity too huh “ he laughed “ you’ve stripped away all my other safety precautions whats next “
you smiled happily voice slipping out excitedly knowing you’d scare him with your next request “ let’s go to the pool after lunch “ he felt his body tighten at your claim he hated to tell you he wasn’t going to do something on your birthday or to tell you no but
“ no “ he spat as his your brows furrowed “ havent you gotten enough — ive put myself close to — and directly in the line of death enough for you today “ he said staring at you from across the table
his own body jumping a bit when a person tried to walk over to him for a picture shaking his head and face made up in disgust at their maskless face and how they simply looked like they’d gotten dressed in the dark
“ god —look at this i’m ready to go—I can’t do this much longer my love your days over “
“ babe seriously you didn’t even give me a present“
he laughed as he stood up putting his mask back on and tucking the money for your lunch into the receipt given to him before raising his hand halfheartedly waving the waiter down and nodding his head at them before walking behind you hand placed on the small of your back directing you through the loud and rather messy crowd
“ you’ve gotten your present from me already “ he whispered “ you’ve gotten to see me maskless — in a crowded environment if I may add and you didn’t get sick so yay “
you laughed as he spoke again “ enjoy it cause you won’t get it again “ he tore his mask off smiling softly at you as you studied his face
it wasnt the fact that he wasn’t wearing his mask you’d already seen him maskless when you two were alone. What made your birthday was the fact he was willing to go so far out of his comfort zone for you.
He never would have just went out to a resteraunt and ate his food around others and allow others to cook his food without him seeing it done physically himself and making sure nothing bad was happening. much less him taking his mask off around other people — people he didn’t know
you couldn’t help but feel a flutter as you looked through the car window he was right you were enjoying this because you knew you would never get it again not until another birthday when you would have sukusa go out of his comfort zone time and time again just to remind you how much he truly loved you and would do anything to make your birthday a special day for you
lev
- lev is a child he likes doing fun things you were no different yourself and if you were you could always calm him down and assume the role of parenting but then again if you weren’t someone of maturity that could maybe explain why you two were in jail on your birthday.
- Kenma and kuroo outside your cell dressed up in pajamas kenmas game boy clicking away as the two stared into the cell kuroos eyes boring into your boyfriends kenma occasionally eyeing you a bit intrigued with this side of you he’d never seen before
-Kuroo taking the dad role while kenma whispered behind him about how lev was an idiot and you — he couldn’t say anything about you
-he just assumed that idiot lev here was the one who decided to go in an abandoned house and wreck the whole thing only to find out that you were the one who came up with it
-the original idea was for you two to do what you saw on a movie where a woman destroyed an old house no one used for fun and to let all her fustratuons out and since it was your birthday —not that it would have mattered if it wasn’t —lev would have still done it with you birthday or not but now since it was your birthday this gave him even more reason to show little to no hesitation to follow behind you
-Which is not what you two really needed from each other
-when you both went to town on the house even breaking the outer walls of the dirty building levs arms reaching the ceiling with every pull back of the hammer to the wall he made. You and lev looking at each other happily when you turned to see the woman at the screwed up houses threshold
-“ oh hey you must be here —we must of had the same idea “ you smiled even harder when she returned it only for your smile to drop when you watched her call 911 with a laugh telling them how she was gonna get so much money and be able to buy a new house and get out of this rundown neighborhood because of two stupid kids
-your body sweating and looking away when kuroo beat into him about it saying how he now had to talk the lady out of suing
-your eyes darting to kenmas all knowing ones when lev screamed that you came up with the idea earlier and really lev just didn’t want you to be sad on your birthday so he just simply followed behind kuroos claims because he loves you and honestly it originally sounded fun before the arrest
“ god y/n —legs here is an idiot but never expected him to bring you into this “ kenmas voice challenged you as he smirked softly at his game” huh always felt like it would have been the other way around when it came to who influenced who “ your body stiffened as a cough leaked out
“ huh “ kuroo looked dumbfounded at his friends words
“ nothing kuroo just perfect a match a—perfect match “
The ride home was long as you two thanked kuroo and kenma before you ran down the sidewalk looking back at lev “ there’s still an hour to my birthday “
lev smiled as he watched you get further into the distance “ which means “
“ tag “ you screamed him following “ Y/N WE JUST GOT ARRESTTED “
“ AND SOMEONE IN CANDA JUST PUKED UP RED BEANS — COME ON “ he found himself laughing you suited him so well he always loved having fun and everyday was fun with you
his body finally catching up to yours as he tagged you wrapping his arms around your waist and pulling you into his own body panting softly yours leaning back against his chest and looking up “ babe you see the stars “
you nodded at him smiling “ so pretty “
“ yeah really they are“
“ they always look so happy and beautiful and just bright—- they always make me feel calm at peace and just they settle my nerves “
he turned you to face him looking into your eyes as he smiled kissing you softly mouths moving to the tune of a song as he you smiled into the kiss head falling to his chest while he sighed in content in this moment
“ couldnt have described you better—“ your face went up in surprise that he thought those things about you “ happy birthday y/n”

pairing: suna rintarou x f!reader
genre: fluff, jealousy
word count: 954
sypnosis: he hates feelings but is willing to fully accept them and let them loose when it comes to you
happy birthday, jan @sunagf hehe <3 i’m glad we found each other again through the weeb community and i hope you have a great one !! hope you like this scenario i wrote for you with the best inarizaki boi c;
--
suna lived inside his own bubble, completely tuning out others thoughts and actions. he could care less about the fact that he had a reputation for being lazy and was considered too apathetic for some people’s liking. because he himself knew deep down on the inside, that he cared a little too much.
and it was clearly evident in the way his insides tightened when he overheard atsumu rambling about you during water break.
“‘samu, i saw (y/n) looking at me for a lil’ while longer than usual earlier in class today.” ironically, his brother appears to be paying no attention and seems more focused on the onigiri he snuck into the gym, whereas suna snaps out of his mini nap at the mention of your name. “ya think she’s into me?”
“i think she just has something called peripheral vision like we all do, you moron.” suna deadpans without a second thought, resulting in a glare from atsumu.
“alright rintarou-kun, we get that yer jealous but mind yer own business now will ya?” he peers down at suna, whose unbothered expression hides his hidden feelings that atsumu revealed.
suna sighs, heading back to the court earlier than everyone else, which is surprising since he’s usually the last one there. “i’m not jealous, i just can’t believe you think any girl who looks or breathes in your direction likes you.” osamu holds his brother back from jumping him and kita calls time which firmly ends any persisting escalation.
--
he knew it wasn’t his problem. atsumu was just like any other stupid teenaged boy who saw himself as a chick magnet. you were smart enough to know that, right? surely you wouldn’t go out with someone as blockheaded as that guy, suna told himself. but what if he thought wrong, and you were as blind as atsumu’s fangirls? he mentally curses at the image of you in the stands cheering for atsumu and not him. even if he were to like you back and wasn’t just playing around for the sake of his ego, your relationship would be rocky and unstable. he had to save you, he had to-
“(y/n), just go talk to him!” suna is once again drawn out of his thought spiral at the sound of your name, as if it casts a spell on him. “he’s right there, c’mon tell him what you really want for your birthday.” your friend smirks, and you punch her in the arm. he looks around, confused when he doesn’t see atsumu anywhere and notices that he’s the only boy in the hallway at the moment.
he accidentally makes eye contact with you as he intends to revert his gaze back to his locker, unable to suppress the pink tint forming on his cheeks which mimics yours. your friends push you forward to get closer to him and suna really hopes his face doesn’t look like a tomato.
being left alone with the boy by your friends, you think of something to say to make the situation less awkward. but all of your worries about your first interaction with your crush fade away when he smiles softly and is the first one to break the silence himself.
“i didn’t know it was your birthday, (y/n). happy birthday.” normally he wouldn’t be this forward in front of anyone else, but he was alone, with you specifically. alone with the person who brought confusing feelings upon him, but still desired to protect nonetheless. in order to make you feel safe, he had to overcome his pride and step out of his comfort zone.
“can i ask you a question, though?” you hum in response. “um,” he scratches the back of his head sheepishly. “i was wondering, what are your thoughts on miya atsumu?” he grows tense once again when he realizes how awkwardly he worded the question and how the timing couldn’t be any more wrong. damn this is what i get the one time i decide not to ignore feelings, he thinks to himself.
“atsumu, that jerk?” wait what? “ugh, he’s so annoying all he cares about is volleyball and like, he’s just so sus i don’t know why his fangirls follow him. why do you ask?”
it takes all of suna’s might to prevent himself from bursting into laughter, and he ends up snorting softly. “yeah he is pretty annoying,” he states nonchalantly as if he wasn’t filled with relief and nearly joy from your words. “it’s nothing actually.” he didn’t want to make this even harder than it was by trying to explain that he thought you had only approached him to find a way to get closer to atsumu.
“suna-kun i can see right through you,” you giggle.
“huh?” crap, if i had never mentioned him we wouldn’t have gotten to this point.
“you’re scared that i’m romantically involved with him.” you smirk, and he blinks slowly in an attempt to slyly deter you but it doesn’t work, it only causes you to erupt into more giggles.
“you know you usually look so done with life most of the time, and seeing you flustered like this is the best birthday gift i could ask for.” you kiss his cheek, making his eyes widen. “meet me outside of class after school and we can perhaps make my special day more special.”
you skip off to go back to your friends without another word, and suna lightly touches his cheek with his fingertips, so as to get a feel of the spot without wiping the kiss off.
suna was an expert at hiding, heck completely ignoring his emotions. but he realized after that day that becoming more vulnerable held surprises for both of you guys.

Title. Burnt Out
Pairing. Suna Rintaro x Fem!Reader
Summary. In which she’s intoxicated and she thinks her relationship is going down in flames. Inspired by the song Can’t Love You Anymore by IU and Oh Hyuk.
Warnings. Manga spoilers, angst.
Y/N started dating her long-term boyfriend Suna Rintaro in highschool. He was popular because he played volleyball, and their team just so happened to be pretty good at the sport. Suna had many admirers, mostly girls who wanted his attention, but he remained unbothered by them. (Miya Atsumu, on the other hand, could have done without excessively showing off).
The only thing that set her apart from many others was the fact that Suna just so happened to be her childhood friend. She was the one Suna was most comfortable with to be himself, and she was the one he knew would understand his personality and his quirks. So by the time they were second years in highschool, Suna had asked her out.
It was heart racing at first, Y/N admits. Suna was young but he was still as monotoned as ever, but he would occasionally go for some romantic gestures. Albeit these said romantic gestures were things that were supposed to be normal in a relationship, like holding hands in public, letting her borrow his volleyball jacket, and things of those nature. Still, if it came from Suna, you should know he’s being sincere.
Throughout the years of their relationship, Y/N could count the amount of times Suna’s been overtly affectionate to her with one hand, but it’s not something that bothered her. She knew her boyfriend best, and she knew that he loved in silence (almost all to himself, actually). So even if all her friends gushed about the cute things their significant others had done for them, Y/N was never jealous.
But, when she’s in her mid-20s and all her friends are getting married and her parents are pushing her to get married herself, Y/N finally has to stop and reevaluate her relationship.
Now 24 years old and having been in a relationship with the man for almost ten years, Y/N can’t complain about anything Suna did wrong. Sure he was a little detached, but he put just enough effort into the relationship for it not to be infuriating. He remembers anniversaries and birthdays, he brings her some small trinkets he picks up from traveling with his volleyball team, and he doesn’t give Y/N any reason to think he’s being unloyal.
On the other hand, Y/N can’t completely say she’s happy. Sure, his small but appreciated gestures were something she gushed over in highschool, but now she’s a working adult. She doesn’t get butterflies or jittery from the little things anymore (probably because she’s grown used to them over the last few years) and she can’t help but wish there was something more.
Perhaps she’s being a tad bit dramatic, but all these thoughts come rushing through her head when she receives another wedding invitation, this time from her best friend and her own highschool sweetheart, over a bottle of wine. She always thought that Mika, her dear friend, and her now soon-to-be husband as the perfect couple. They argued from time to time because Daishou has a “shitty personality” but the good outweighs the bad, which is apparently enough for Mika to decide to marry the guy.
A certain note on the back of the wedding invitation is the catalyst of all these bad thoughts pouring down on her, “So when are you and Suna-kun gonna settle down?” The problem is, she’s not so sure she wants to settle down with him.
She met Suna at an early age and entered a relationship with him when she was pretty young. Because it was familiar and somewhat comfortable, Y/N never saw the need to look for another option. This decision comes back to bite her in the ass now, because if her only experience in love is with Suna Rintaro, then did she really experience it?
They never went on a traditional dinner date, never snuck out the window in the middle of the night to be with each other, never cheered loudly for him during his volleyball games, never had a real argument because Suna always says there’s no point in them, never received flowers and chocolates, and, well, you get it. Perhaps it’s a little selfish for her to want to experience normalcy in her relationship, but could anyone really blame her?
It’s like she’s dating a rock, Atsumu once told her after a nasty argument with her boyfriend. It’s a petty thing said when Atsumu wasn’t thinking straight, but those words come echoing back to her when she really starts thinking about their relationship. If she truly is dating a rock, Y/N doesn’t want to marry a rock too.
She wants warmth and comfort. She wants someone who won’t hold back during arguments and actually talk about his feelings with her. She wants someone who would still surprise her even ten years into their relationship. She just wants someone to love.
Without thinking about it thoroughly (or maybe it’s the wine in her system), Y/N picks up her phone and dials a familiar number.
“Hello?” Suna picks up after the fifth ring.
Y/N doesn’t know how to respond. A part of her doesn’t realize why she called, and another part of her was sure he wasn’t going to pick up. But he did, and Y/N always believed that there’s no better time than the present.
“Hey.” She finally responds. There’s quiet shufflings in the background, and Y/N can pick up the voices of some of his current teammates in EJP Raijin. She hears him mumbling he’ll be back and a door closing behind him.
“Where are you?” His voice is as calm as ever. Quiet, monotoned, emotionless.
“I’m at home. You?” Y/N finds herself folding her legs up to her body, a habit she picked up on whenever she got nervous. Oh, and she’s biting her nails, something she hasn’t done since graduating highschool.
“Out celebrating with my teammates.” Y/N didn’t even know there was something to celebrate for, until she remembers that today was a big game against one of their team rivals. Suddenly she feels bad, as if she’s dampening the mood he got going on.
“Oh. Well come home soon.” Y/N decides to retreat. “Okay.” Her eyes land on the wedding invitation strewn out on the kitchen table, and the picture of Mika and Daishou smiling at each other like they’re the only ones in the world. There’s no better time than now.
“Actually-” “By the way-”
“Nevermind.” Y/N was thrown off when they both spoke up after a few seconds of silence. She suddenly doesn’t remember what she wants to say.
“Just tell me.” There’s another long pause, and Y/N is beginning to think Suna’s growing impatient on the other line. He does have a celebration to get back to.
But she made it this far. If she doesn’t say it now, she’s scared she might not get another chance. She’s scared she might actually have to marry a rock. (The alcohol’s doing something to her train of thoughts).
“I don’t think we’re in love anymore.” The words left her mouth before she could process it. Another pause. Suna seems to be deep in thought, and Y/N is holding a bated breath waiting for an answer. Her heart is beating faster, her hands are clammy, and she’s still biting on her nails. Finally, the silence is broken.
“So what do you want to do?” Good question. What does she want to do? Well,
“I guess breaking up is next, right?”
“I’ll pack my bags while you’re at work tomorrow.” Beep. The call ends without Y/N even getting another word in. But it’s better that way.
She’s tired. When her and Suna first went out, it was like a match striking. They were the perfect pair. Suna, the quiet one, and Y/N, the one who always understood his silence. But over time those flames go out, and that’s just what happened to them. They got burnt out.
A/N. As you may or may not know, this is simply a re-upload because I decided to move blogs. Either way, thank you for reading my first story! Read the second part here. - chuu

Awa, you didn’t miss them at all! Thanks for requesting, I hope you’re doing well too ♥ I decided to make a continuation of the Kitsune!AU I did with Suna before here so I could work on his character more.
Window - “…How fucking dense are you?”
»»———————— ♡ ————————««
You started buying groceries for two.
It was utterly idiotic that you tolerated that... person’s demands. Especially when you could barely afford to feed another person. More than once, you found yourself holding your phone, dialing the police. But when you looked up, seeing him merely laying on your couch watching TV, you completely forgot what you wanted to say. He didn’t look menacing. He didn’t even try to scare you like a robber would. And how would you even start to explain the fox ears and tail to anyone?
A hunter might have been a better option. But were they and their guns effective against mythical creatures as well? You tried to research it, google for every information you could find, but aside from stories and myths, there were no hints on the internet that this man should actually exist. If you believed the old tellings, they weren’t as uncommon to see back then, but their population seemed to have decreased with the humans taking over most parts of the world.
Thinking logically, that was still no reason for you specifically to endure him. Especially if it were the humans having the upper hand, he should be afraid of you, rather than the other way around! So what if you were nice enough to feed him?
You still couldn’t understand why he was sticking around you.
His ears folding back, Suna finally turned to you, glaring at you in annoyance. “Why are you staring?” he asked, and you flinched, noticing how you had peeked around the corner for too long. It was hard to avoid him, considering he took up a lot of your living space, but you were still reluctant to interact with him. “Just come over here if you want to watch the show.”
Truth be told, he never looked as if he was enjoying what he was watching, but you had seen him put on the same kind of program again and again over time, so surely, he must have taken a liking to it either way. “Is that... your favorite show?” you asked timidly, approaching the couch with a reasonable distance. Even if he was annoyed from your staring, he did invite you over, and it was as good of a time to ask him to leave as any.
“It’s alright,” he replied, and his tail gave a slow wag, making you think he did like it. “Cool, cool...” you mumbled, shooting the TV a short glance, the flashing of bright colors and the loud voices of the moderation appalling you. Suna’s attention returned to you, his eyes giving you a slow, appraising look up and down before he patted the free space next to him on the couch. “Sit,” he kept inviting you as if your presence standing next to the amenity was dissatisfactory for him.
Making this step was harder for you than you thought at first. Hesitantly, you slid on the cushion furthest away from Suna, pressing up to the armrest on your side while he was leaning on the other one, watching you from the corners of his eyes.
Why you even followed his instructions was puzzling, but you hoped he’d take what you were about to say better when you made him comfortable. Clearing your throat, you announced, “So, when do you plan on leaving...?” avoiding to look at him even after you finished speaking.
“Leave what?” A yawn escaped him before his attention shifted back to the program on TV. “My home... this house. Here?” was your lousy explanation, and fiddling with your fingers, you noticed that you were growing nervous with every silent second between you two.
“I don’t know--”
“I’m not going to feed you anymore.”
These words left you the second you heard his dismissive tone of voice and without much consideration. Simply, you were too scared to listen to his rejection. You wanted him out and rather yesterday than tomorrow at that. “I... I can’t keep feeding you. It’s too expensive; I’ll run out of money,” you tried to explain, hoping this was enough to persuade you.
“Huh...” he grumbled, his fingers tapping against the leather on the couch. “I don’t want to leave,” he eventually mustered to say, taking a deep breath before sitting up straight. “But you can’t stay...” you disappointingly replied.
“Can’t I?”
“No,” you said firmly, standing your ground.
Inching closer to you, his presence was suddenly unnerving. You wondered what the point was in closing in the distance, not sure what he would do. “I can’t feed you anymore a-and, uh, you are over... over-staying your welcome!”
It sure didn’t help that he was leaning towards you, slender features and pure skin soon covering all you could see. Black hair as you looked towards the ceiling, an unpredictable expression when your gaze graced his face.
“... How fucking dense are you?” he asked you suddenly, using harsher words than you had ever heard him do before.
Next thing you knew, he had your hands restraint, pushing your upper body back to bend over the armrest. The burning you felt of the strain in your back was your smallest concern at that moment; instead, you immediately focus on thin lips brushing down your neck and to your collarbones. “I’m not going anywhere. I’m staying.”
“B-But I-” you stuttered, trying to convince him and find a peaceful solution. Twisting and turning your wrists only revealed Suna’s strength, something he hadn’t used on you before, so you never had a chance to find out about it until now. “You won’t get rid of me just because you don’t feed me, you know.”
“What?” you squeaked, so sure of yourself that all your research had shown that animals who lost a source of food would move on. You had bet your entire confidence on this fact. “I don’t even need food,” he explained, seemingly reading your mind.
“Then why... Why did you stay?”
What followed was a long pause. So much so, you noticed your back pain again, twisting your torso to appease it and also moved your head around to free yourself of hair blocking your view. There was a vase on the coffee table. If only you could reach it, you’d have a chance of breaking free. But being able to see again, you noticed something moving rather excitedly behind Suna’s body, his tail wagging putting every dog to shame.
No second later, you felt the sharp pain of fangs in the soft flesh between your neck and shoulder, and you flinched hard at it, only worsen the feeling. “Ah-!” you wanted to cry out, but the sound got stuck in your throat as he loosened his jaw, moving slightly more to the right to bite down again.
This time, you felt the tears shoot into your eyes, shock, pain, and fear covering your senses. “Who knows~” he chuckled, seemingly amused about your reaction. Pulling away from you, you could see the bloodstains around his mouth, almost making you faint as you could ultimately realize that he did, in fact, bit you twice just now.
“Maybe I stayed for you? I couldn’t wait to get a bite for sure. Want me to eat you up?”
He leaned down again, and this time, as weak as you felt, you could see your life flashing before your eyes, especially when you felt his tongue drag over the wounds he had just induced. In what must have been a survival instinct, you managed to shove your hands into his shoulders, his grip having weakened as he didn’t expect you to resist. The next moment you were free, falling off the couch and to your feet, gone in the blink of an eye. You only stopped when the door to your bedroom closed behind you, and you locked it, sinking to the ground.
You had nothing on you; no phone or cell, nothing to make yourself known to the outside world. If you climbed out the window or exit through the door, you were almost sure you were a feast for the fox. There was barely anything you could do to calm your racing heart or stop hyperventilating as your mind desperately thought of alternatives. If this was just one of his jokes, you were taking it way too seriously, but how could you know?
How could you know what was true and false about the grinning fox spirit standing in front of your bedroom door, licking his lips in delight?

A simple tear
Ren Omimi x Reader!
A/c: I dunno if it’s just me but I get Sir Nighteye vibes from this man (Rest in peace (҂⌣̀_⌣́)  but this Hc won’t exactly be like MHA if you know what I mean, this Hc will most probs have very little mention of a quirk/volleyball, what’s the worst that can happen *Laughs in evil*
On a serious note tho I apologise if he seems out of character
Ren’s quirk: The ability to cast spells to his own extent but is hardly mentioned in this Hc ಥ_ಥ
Your quirk can be up to you because it’s not mentioned in the story sorry ಥ_ಥ
Warnings: A bit of swearing here and there, little sprinkle of kissing, Angst (you’ll only know if there’s a fluffy ending if you read it *Laughs in evil again*)
Tumblr media
You have been seeing Ren for 1 year and still know nothing about what he does for a living or anything personal about him.
You had been accepted for an internship at Inarizaki Agency and honestly this meant so much for you because you were stuck in such a bad slump.
You told your boyfriend the amazing news about beginning an internship but left out where you were going to work.
He told you he was extremely proud even though his face still held that same scary expression, you knew he meant it.
It’s the first day of your internship and all internees had to meet and introduce themselves to the CEO before they continued.
The internees walked in and all bowed which you followed since you were the youngest.
You introduced yourself then looked up to find your boyfriend of 1 year sitting in the CEO’s seat staring wide eyed at you.
After that awkward encounter he started to see you less outside of work and he made it very clear to you to keep your work and personal life separate and you agreed.
Ren started to become frustrated and it showed at the agency, it also didn’t go unnoticed by your co-workers.
When you first started working for the agency almost everyone told you that even though he may look scary his personality was from it not knowing they were speaking to his girlfriend. Even if his facial expression was scary his personality was soft and hilarious.
So seeing him going around to everyone picking on the small errors they made and screaming at them for it, was a very new look for him to you and your co-workers.
It was 2pm in the evening your friend, Suna and you were in charge of checking to see if the hero costumes were as too what the hero’s had requested for, “Suna you continue to check these costumes, I’ll go bring the assistant Kita for final checks” f/n nodded as a response. After 15 minutes you returned to Suna with the manager but found that your boyfriend/CEO was checking the costumes as well, everything was going smoothly but he stopped towards the last mannequin and spotted a tear below the underarm of the hero costume, “Why is there a tear here?” Ren asked both you and Suna, you confusingly looked at Suna then Ren “Um when we were checking earlier there was no tear” you said to Ren “So what? Did this just magically appear when I arrived?” he said sternly “No that’s no what I mea-” before you could finish Ren continued “Who was in charge of checking this costume?” you stepped towards him bowing “I was Sir and I’m very sorry for my mistak-” “Get Out” he said before you could finish, you looked up “Pardon?” “I said get out” he repeated “You can’t do a simple job properly, all you had to do was check the fucking costume” he let out harshly “Your a disgrace and embarrassment to this company you should be thankful we accepted you, what a fucken lame excuse of an employee” he snapped “I don’t want to see you for the rest of the day, get out of my face” he finished while using one hand to shoo you out. Looking down you quickly wiped your tears “I’m sorry Sir, I’ll take my leave now” you bowed then walked to the entrance and out the agency. “Actually Sir I have something to say” Suna spoke up “What is it?” Ren turned around to look at him “I was the one who tore the costume” Ren’s heart dropped “I wanted to try it on so bad but struggled to get it off and ripped it, I’m very sorry Sir” Suna bowed “While I am calm please leave” Ren said while staring into his eyes “Yes Sir, I’m apologise sincerely” he said before sprinting out the room. “Kita please postpone all of my appointments and meetings for this afternoon” Ren said to his assistant “Is everything alright Sir?” “I have to mend something I had no intention of breaking” Ren said before walking out of the room. It was currently 5pm and you were sitting on a bench legs folded off the ground in front of a pond beating yourself up on how you were still crying or why you were crying in the first place “Y/n stop crying, your so damn sensitive and why?” you whispered to yourself while lightly punching your thigh “Maybe if you were less of a klutz then your boyfriend might give you some attention” you whispered to yourself causing more tears to pour out of your eyes “Is that how you think I see you?” Ren sits down with his back to the pond “Did I ever tell you how beautiful you are” he said while tucking a piece of hair behind your ear, you turned your head away from him afraid of how he’ll see you breakdown at the slight touch of love he gave you “Darling, I want to apologise on how I spoke to you earlier, I promise you I will make it up to you in anyway I can” he said while turning your face towards his “Please, I don’t want anyone to see me like this” you said while hiccupping and sniffling, Ren flicked his hand up and casted a spell that blocked people from the outside seeing inside “I’ve missed you so much my darling and I hate myself for pushing you away” he said while wrapping his arms around your waist still seated on the bench “I was scared you’d leave me after finding out your boyfriend works behind a desk and not fighting like a true hero” he let out a sad laugh “Are you kidding me Ren, you could be jobless for all I care and I’d still love you” you said pouting with cheeks still stained from crying “First of all it’s ‘baby’ to you and that means a lot to me darling” he said while kissing your cheek with one hand behind your ear “Oh so the big, scary boss likes to be called baby?” you giggled as your boyfriends cheeks began to turn pink while still having his scary expression “I like what you said about being big” he whispered in your ear before kissing it then it was your turn to become a blushing mess “Sir this is a McDonalds drive-thru” leaving your boyfriend confused before trying to make a run for it, only to be grabbed by the wrist and teleported to office “What the fuc-” you began “Darling I suggest you watch your language before continuing that sentence” he said while locking his office door and closing the blinds “God is good” you whispered as your boyfriend began to loosen his tie while walking towards you “Let me show you how much I’ve missed you” he said before attaching his touch deprived lips to yours, lips moving together with drool dripping from the passionate kiss you both had engaged in, separating his lips from yours to give you a breather “Oh lord Asahi give my legs strength after this” you say as your boyfriend chuckles at your goofy personality before continuing to engulf your lips with his own.
I honestly wrote this at 3am and if it doesn’t make sense I’m sorry for wasting your time but at least you made it to the end (づ ̄ ³ ̄)づ
Ps: I mainly focus on the underrated characters because they need loving too ರ_ರ

The Request (SHIKATEMAWEEK 2020 - DAY 2)
It is past midnight here in my country (it’s past 2 AM, actually), so technically it is the second day of ShikatemaWeek. My contribution to the best Naruto couple is this little fic that has been hanging around my mind for months and that I only now saw an opportunity to put on paper. It is also published in Ao3. It is my first Shikatema fic, so I hope you enjoy it!
DAY 2: Marriage
SUMMARY: Shikamaru wants to propose to Temari, but his fears prevent him. A conversation with Gaara changes his perspective.
 (2338 WORDS)
English is not my first language, so I translated this story through the google translator. If you find any grammatical or concordance errors, please let me know!
There was something extraordinary about watching Temari at Suna's sunset.
Shikamaru was always taken by this thought whenever he ended up being honored by fate, that allowed him to visit and see her in that position.
Temari was in the distance, on one of the hills in the landscape, with the wind on her face and the color of the sky mixing with the tone of her golden hair. Her arms and hips were supported by her huge fan and she had her head tilted slightly to the side.
She shone like gold, with her feet buried in the sand and her eyes fixed on the horizon. She seemed to have been made by and to that place. She looked like she was home.
And that thought, as extraordinary as it was, brought him enormous pain in his chest.
Because seeing her there, so at home, so comfortable, so in love, made his wishes seem even more selfish. His dreams for the future seemed silly and unreachable. The small box he had carried in his pocket for weeks seemed to weigh five hundred tons.
How could he ask her to leave that place? Leave her land, her people, her place in this world, because of him?
Shikamaru thought, when the idea of marrying her seemed more important than breathing, that maybe he should be the one moving. Why should it be Temari? He could go to Suna. He could move to her house, become part of her people.
But his village was gradually rebuilding after the war and his work was one of the most important of all. Kakashi told him whenever he could that without Shikamaru, it would all fall apart. And his father died. Shikaku died in the war and Shikamaru was now responsible for the Nara Clan.
And there was also his mother. She was a widow now. Shikamaru was all she had. How could he leave her? How could he get married and move on a three-day trip away, probably only being able to visit her every several months?
Shikamaru could not move from his village. But then, how he could ask Temari to do it? She had her brothers. Her job. Her people.
He was a strategist, he was the man who always had a plan and could see all the different results that his actions could cause. But, with fear growing in his chest like a poisonous plant, all that Shikamaru was able to think of were two results:
She would say no. And they would be unable to move on, their relationship would end and he would lose the woman of his life, the love of his life, his partner and best friend, forever.
Or she would say yes. But there would always be a resentment lingering between them, a pain he caused by asking her to leave everything behind. And time will pass and Temari would never forgive him and their marriage would end and he would end up alone and depressed, without her and and and...
Shikamaru's shoulders fell. A resigned sigh came from his lips. These thoughts have been prowling his mind every day for weeks. For the first time in a long time he was completely lost. There was no plan.
"The view is beautiful, isn't it?".
The voice behind him startled him. Shikamaru jumped slightly, turning quickly and facing very light eyes and a familiar face.
"Oh, Lord Kazekage" he sighed placing his hand on his chest. "You scared me".
"Sorry," replied him, giving Shikmaru an almost invisible smile. “You seem distracted. Mind if I sit down? ”
Shikamaru shook his head and indicated the empty spot beside him, on the bench he was sitting on. Gaara sat down and they both turned to Temari, who was still standing in the distance.
"She always comes here to watch the sunset," said Gaara in a soft voice. Shikamaru looked at him curiously. "I always saw her coming here every evening, since we were kids. I think that's where she likes to think”.
Shikamaru nodded, not knowing what to say. Gaara was always a distant figure for him, even though he had been dating Temari for many months. He was kind and polite, but shy and didn't speak much. Sometimes Shikamaru wondered if he was in favor of their relationship or if he thought he was worthy of his sister.
"You know, when Temari told us that you and her were starting to date, I didn't know what to think about" murmured Gaara as if he could read his thoughts. "But I know that you and Naruto are close and he always speaks very good things about you, so I trusted my sister's critical sense."
Gaara looked at Temari on the horizon. The expression on his face was calm and gentle, as was his tone.
"Time has proved to me that you are good for her" he continued and Shikamaru's heart raced in his chest. “I see her smile whenever a letter arrives or when you call. She always seems lighter every time she comes back from Leaf or whenever there is a chance for her to visit you”.
A warm smile appeared on Shikamaru's lips and he looked back at Temari again. He loved her so hard that he sometimes felt like his heart would explode in his chest.
"And I see your smile too."
Shikamaru looked at Gaara with slightly wide eyes. He gave him a small, rare smile.
“I see how you smile at her whenever you talk and how you look at her whenever she passes. It is visible to anyone how much you love her”.
They were silent for a few seconds. Until:
"That's why I wonder why you haven't asked her yet."
If it were possible, Shikamaru would have swallowed his own tongue at that moment.
"What?" he exclaimed, feeling his cheeks burn. Gaara almost seemed to want to laugh.
“Every time I see you watching her, it's like if Temari had invented oxygen. And every time I see you leave, it's like if your heart is being left with her. So it's confusing to me. I am not a person who has much experience with love, so there are many things that I don't understand. This is one of them. If you love her and it hurts not to be with her, why don't you propose? ”.
It seemed like a genuinely curious question. Shikamaru found himself speechless for a few seconds, with his mouth open like a fish out of water, trying to make his own thoughts make sense.
"It's not that I don't want to," he said softly, moving his hand instinctively to the pocket where the box with the ring rested. Gaara's eyes followed his movement. "I want to. More than anything I ever wanted ”.
And it is the truth. Shikamaru wants everything with her. He wants to see her every morning when they wake up, with her hair spread across the pillows and her bare shoulders against the sheets. He wants to hear her humming around the house, talking to his mother in the kitchen, laughing with Ino in the gardens. He wants to hear her footsteps through the halls, her voice every day, her laughter at every moment. He wants to be able to kiss her in the comfort of his home, in the comfort of their home, and see her cheeks redden. He wants to feel her skin on his fingers. He wants to hear her sighs echo in his ears. He wants to have children with her, if Temari so wishes. Small children with black hair and green eyes or blond hair and black eyes or simply blond hair and green eyes. If he can see her there, in that new life, her smile, her look, her attitude, then it is worthwhile that the future of the Nara clan does not look anything like its ancestors.
He wants everything.
"So what stops you?".
Shikamaru understood at that moment why Gaara was a great Kazekage. He seemed to have captured him in a fog that melted Shikamaru's brain and made him suddenly want to open his heart and tell him everything he was feeling. No one could deny anything to those eyes.
"I'm scared," he admitted, so quietly that he barely heard himself. "Her answer scares me".
"Do you think she'll say no?" asked Gaara with a frown. He almost seemed to find the idea absurd.
"I don't know" replied Shikamaru looking at his hands. He needed a cigarette. “I just don't want to put her in an uncomfortable situation. I thought about it a lot and I can't leave my village. They need me more than anything right now. So asking her to marry me is asking Temari to leave her home. And I know that you and this land are all that she loves most. I'm afraid she'll say no. I'm afraid she will say yes and regret it later”.
Gaara was silent for a moment, his eyes on his sister. Shikamaru's hands were sweating. He would never expect, even in a million years, to have this conversation with Gaara. The last time he heard him say so many words was when he threatened to kill Lee when everyone was twelve.
Shikamaru knew that Gaara had changed. He might not be outgoing like Kankuro or incisive like Temari, but Shikamaru could see his personality change in his eyes and his light, rare smiles. It didn't make that situation any less strange and uncomfortable, but he decided to keep talking. He wanted Gaara to like him and he was completely lost, after all. Shikamaru was so desperate that even Naruto's help would be welcome.
"It is true that Temari loves this place," muttered Gaara. “And that she would miss the sand, the heat and us. But is also true that no one forces her to do something that she does not want to".
Shikamaru did not answer, being able to just stare at him in silence.
"I don't know if you know, but Temari was against the invasion of your village in our chunnin exams." Shikamaru looked at him, jaw slightly dropped. Gaara laughed lightly. “She was the only one to question those actions. She was only sixteen, but she confronted our sensei and said that it was not a good idea. And do you know what that proves? ”.
He looked at Shikamaru and smiled. It was the first time that he saw Gaara's smile so big.
“It means that Temari is intelligent and wise, but that she acts with her heart. If she thinks something is wrong, she speaks. If she is against anything, she acts. And if she wants to marry you, she will. It will not be a few thousand kilometers away that will prevent her from doing it”.
Shikamaru smiled, turning to Temari in the distance, looking at her with all the affection he possessed.
"Your sister is as uncontrollable as the wind," he said. Gaara laughed through his nose, affectionately.
"She is. And I think you should keep that in mind. If Temari wants to marry you, nothing will stop her. You will not force her into anything. I mean, Suna's sages try to convince her to accept arranged marriages since she is eighteen and they cannot. It will not be you who will force her to do anything ”.
Shikamaru laughed, feeling his eyes sting. Gaara's words entered his heart and were able to ease the tension in his shoulders.
"She doesn't know that I'm having this conversation with you, but if you want a sincere opinion from her brother, know that I don't believe she would say no to you" he says and Shikamaru feels such overwhelming relief going through his body that it almost burst into tears. “I think what I'm trying to say is that I understand your fear, but I believe it is preventing you from seeing her side. If you make her happy, I don't see Temari repenting in the future, for the simple fact that she didn't make that decision unless it is what she really wants ”.
His eyes burned. If that conversation didn't end he would cry in relief right in front of Temari's brother and she, if she found out, would never let him forget that.
"But what about you and Kankuro?" he asked softly. "Won't that be difficult for you too?"
Gaara looked at the end of the sunset and at Temari for long minutes.
"I got used to loving people from afar," he murmured quietly, his eyes still fixed on his sister. "I will be fine".
Shikamaru swallowed a bowling ball in his throat. And after a few seconds:
"Kankuro, on the other hand...".
Shikamaru groaned sadly. Gaara laughed.
"Oh Lord, he will kill me" he cried.
"Kankuro likes you," said Gaara. “He will be happy. It will just be more difficult for him. He and Temari always had each other ”.
Finally, he chuckled.
“Besides, you can always have a child and call him Kankuro Junior. It will make him forgive you” he joked and the fact that it was Gaara, there, making jokes, made a laugh pass through Shikamaru's lips.
The sunset ended and Temari turned to where they were. Shikamaru saw her beautiful eyes widen in surprise and she raised her hand, waving. He waved back and Gaara stood up.
With a last smile, he murmured as he watched Temari walk towards them.
“Remember, this is not an individual thing. It is not your decision. You are a team. A very smart team to be honest. Talk to her. You will find out what to do ”.
Then he was gone, quiet as always. And when Temari arrived with her beautiful smile lighting her lips, Shikamaru smiled back and felt that the small box in his pocket didn't seem to weigh that much.

Masquerade
Summary: "You should be socializing," Temari stated, as if it were obvious. "You’re here as the Konoha envoy, right? You need to be dancing with someone influential."
Shikamaru opened his mouth to correct her, but he found himself asking, “Is that an offer?” His eyes widened in horror when he realized what he had said.
But her ruby lips simply curved into a surprised smile. "It can be," she answered, holding out a hand.

Masquerade
Written for Day 2 of ShikaTema Week 2020 - Masquerade!
I’m so excited that this event has rolled around again, because ShikaTema Week 2019 is what got me back in the swing of writing (and actually posting 🤭) last year! It means a lot to me to be posting and seeing content for my otp again 😁
This fic is set during the canon time skip. The setting is “just-AU-enough-to-squeeze-a-masquerade-ball-in.” I picture Sunagakure as being kind of aristocratic (with the big clans being the aristocracy) in order to get away with it. If anyone has read the Invitation series by Lord of the Land of Fire, that’s what I’m talking about.
“Come on, Shikamaru.” Ino tried to tug him to his feet. “You have to dance.”
Shikamaru stubbornly slouched further into the cushioned seat he had claimed at the edge of the village square. It had been a long, rough trip, and he had no intention of getting up until they were leaving.
“Well, it is a ball,” Choji nodded in agreement. He shrugged apologetically when Shikamaru scowled at him, but he did not retract his statement.
“And not just any ball!” Ino interjected. “It’s the Suna Masquerade Ball!”
Shikamaru gave an exaggerated groan in response, rolling his eyes for good measure. Secretly, he was glad that he and Choji had been able to arrange the invitations. They hadn’t seen Ino so lively in months. But that doesn’t mean that he wanted to dance.
“Ugh, fine,” Ino sighed. “Alright, Choji, sounds like you’re my dance partner!”
Choji quickly gulped down his mouthful and chirped, “Okay!” He took her hand, and they disappeared into the bustling courtyard. Shikamaru relaxed against his chair as they and the other attendees turned to the raised dais in anticipation. Finally, long low wails of traditional Wind instruments floated across the night wind, sparking movement as it swept over and brought the village square to life. The clamor of conversation softened under the force of the music and the allure of the dance.
The Suna Masquerade Ball was the village’s Event of the Year. The masquerade was ostensibly a celebration of Sunagakure’s founding and was intended for the affluent civilians of Suna. However, according to Ino, it was also a prestigious event for the Wind nobility, and only the most influential among them would make an appearance. Consequently, the Masquerade had become an unofficial summit for Suna and Wind nobility. Not that Shikamaru particularly cared. But talking and speculating about this event had been the only thing that they knew would pull Ino out of her slump.
“But they’re Wind nobles,” Shikamaru had said at one of their team dinners. “I know your dad’s started teaching you politics and stuff, but wouldn’t it be better to focus on Hi no Kuni nobles before you start looking at other countries?”
“But we don’t hold a masquerade ball; we hold some boring banquet.” Ino had rolled her eyes derisively. “After all, we’re allies! I’ll have to learn them eventually.”
“Well, it’s a shame that Lady Tsunade has already chosen her envoys,” Asuma had interjected. And that was that. Ino had sighed, Asuma had asked for the check, Choji had taken the last piece, and Shikamaru had started thinking. He had waited until he was certain of success to rope Choji into his operation, but the two of them ultimately managed to procure an invitation for Ino at the Masquerade. Tsunade had been amused, Asuma had been exasperated, and Ino had been ecstatic. She had excitedly pledged to fulfill all the Konoha envoy responsibilities, though she requested that her teammates escort her. Shikamaru had been reluctant to travel all the way to Suna for a multitude of reasons. But, watching his teammates whirl merrily across the courtyard, he knew for certain that it had been worth it.
Of course, this was the perfect time for one of his reasons to appear in the flesh. He shouldn’t have been surprised. He had spotted her soon after arriving and couldn’t help but notice when she started moving in his direction. He had hoped that she would simply ignore him. But then, she never did make things easy for him, did she?
"What are you sitting around for?" Temari asked imperiously as soon as she was within earshot, everything about her fiery and bold. Her dazzling blood-red mask framed her challenging gaze and matched her ever-present waist sash and her glittering red lips.
Shikamaru wrenched his gaze away and cleared his throat. “What? Am I not allowed to sit?”
Temari scoffed. "You should be socializing," she stated, as if it were obvious. "You’re here as the Konoha envoy, right? You need to be dancing with someone influential."
Shikamaru opened his mouth to tell her that she was mistaken, that he was here as an escort for his teammate, that Ino was the one acting as the Konoha envoy. Instead, he found himself asking, “Is that an offer?” His eyes widened in horror when he realized what he had said.
But her ruby lips simply curved into a surprised smile. "It can be," she answered, holding out a hand.
He gazed warily at the hand, as if it would reach out to bite him, before rising and accepting it. He led her to the center of the courtyard, and they waited for the next dance to start. I'm supposed to be avoiding her! Not dancing with her! he berated himself, even as they began dancing. I didn’t even want to dance! And this was the main reason that he had been worried about running into her. He couldn’t trust himself around her. He always felt off-kilter. And he would just do things - things he would never otherwise consider. As scary and unpredictable as she was, if he were being truthful with himself, he was more scared by how unpredictable he was around her.
Not that Shikamaru truly minded the dancing. Strangely, he found the rhythm in the moves to be soothing. The way they moved together felt so natural. They swept across the courtyard as fluidly as they did the battlefield, moving in perfect sync with each other. What did unnerve him was the closeness. He didn't think he had ever been as close to Temari as he was now, not even in training or battle. Because when they trained, he didn't rest his hands on her hips. She didn’t rest her hands on his shoulders. They didn’t stare deeply into each other’s eyes.
“I’ll admit, I was surprised to see your name on the guest list," Temari began before twisting away in time with the dance. He watched in awe as she weaved around the other dancers, barely paying enough attention to his own dancing. He really should have guessed how much her personality would be portrayed in the way she danced. Her movements were powerful and untamed, exactly as they were when she fought. She glided back into his arms and continued, "Taking an interest in politics?"
"No!" Shikamaru barely repressed a full-body shudder. He'll leave all the political maneuvering to the likes of Tsunade and Ino. He would much rather stick to his battle strategies and his cryptanalysis, thank you very much. “Troublesome,” he muttered.
Surprisingly, she began to laugh at his answer. He blinked, taken aback by how soft she looked. Even half-hidden by a fiery red mask, she clearly wore an ease about her that he had never witnessed in her before. Somehow, she always had a hidden side to reveal, no matter how many times he studied her. Every time he thought he had her figured out, she found a way to surprise him. She was a puzzle he had no hope of solving. A mystery whose solution lay forever out of reach.
“That sounds more like the Shikamaru I know,” she smirked. “I didn’t think you had changed that much in three months.”
“Has it been three months?” he asked, almost missing a step in his surprise.
“To the day.” She nodded.
“Wait, so when is your next visit?” he asked distractedly, his mind turning to his mental calendar. He thought he had her schedule down.
“Why, did you miss me?” She quipped, but her lips curved into an amused smile.
Shikamaru immediately wished he could take his words back. And maybe tape his tongue to the roof of his mouth while he was at it. Why does he keep saying the wrong thing? But to deny it would be to insult her. “Konoha is always honored to host her allies,” he mumbled.
Temari raised a delicate eyebrow above her mask. “Very diplomatic,” she complimented. They danced in silence for a few moments before she spoke again. “To answer your question, no. I won’t be back to your village until the spring.”
Until spring? “But I thought you were coming to the Konoha Winter Festival?” He desperately tried to shove the bitter taste of disappointment down where it belonged.
“I had been looking forward to it,” she sighed. “But I have no reason to go.”
“Oh.”
Even an unsavvy guy like him could tell this was the perfect opening for him to extend a personal invitation. But to what end? She wasn’t the kind of puzzle he was equipped to solve. And he was not in the practice of pursuing unattainable goals. He certainly wasn’t going to begin now.
The dance finished with a flourish of the music, and they bowed courteously to each other. Temari drew back, and he thought he saw disappointment cross her face. But he must have been imagining it. “Til next time,” she told him.
“Til next time,” he echoed.
She disappeared into the crowd of elegantly dressed nobles, and he stared after her far longer than he should have. Shikamaru forced himself to make his way back to his seat only to find Choji sitting there. He avoided his inquisitive eyes and slouched onto the stone bench beside him.
Shikamaru shook his head at his friend’s offer of a foreign pastry, instead asking, “Where’s Ino?” He had lost track of her while dancing with Temari.
Choji pointed her out, where she was dancing with … is that the nephew of the Wind Daimyo? Whoever it was must be hilarious, because they were both laughing exuberantly. He relaxed against his seat with a sigh. As exhausting as the journey had been and as grueling as his dance with Temari had been, it was all worth it to see the light return to Ino’s eyes. These past few months had dragged on far too long. Ever since … Shikamaru roughly shoved thoughts about that traitor out of his head with practiced ease.
“So, how’s Temari doing?” Choji asked.
“Fine,” Shikamaru answered shortly, wishing he could just put the troublesome woman out of his head as easily as he had the Uchiha.
“So, when’s her next visit?” Choji asked curiously.
“Not until spring,” he reported, unable to keep the bitter notes out of his voice.
“Wait, she’s going to miss the festival? I thou-”
“She said she didn’t have any reason to come,” Shikamaru interjected. He could feel Choji’s eyes on him, but he ignored them.
“Hmm, well, that’s a shame,” Choji hummed.
“Is it?” Shikamaru rested his head against the back of the chair, staring into the glittering night sky.
“It is. You should have given her one.”
Shikamaru lifted his head in alarm. “I should have what?”
Choji lifted his chin, as serious as Shikamaru had ever seen his best friend. “You heard me.”
“But … why would I do that?” Shikamaru sputtered.
“You know why.” Choji stared him down. “Ino was right; you do know how you feel, you just don’t want to do anything about it.”
Shikamaru just gaped at him. “Ino … what?”
“I thought you just hadn’t figured it out yet,” Choji explained. “But Ino said you were still confused by your feelings and that’s why you haven’t pursued her.”
Shikamaru couldn’t help but feel bitter that his friends had such little faith in him, though he was still reeling from the fact that his two best friends had already figured out how he felt, and they didn’t bother to tell him about it.
“Well, I have figured it out,” Shikamaru told him needlessly.
“Well, that’s good,” Choji nodded encouragingly. “Now, what are you going to do about it?”
Shikamaru sighed, shifting on the cold hard bench. “What can I do about it? She lives in another country.” He swept his arm out broadly, as if to encompass all of Sunagakure and Kaze no Kuni.
“You could make it work,” Choji said confidently. Shikamaru scoffed, but Choji shook his head with determination. “No, listen to me. Who got us in here?” He waved a hand nonchalantly at the finery that surrounded them.
“Okay, fine,” Shikamaru assented. He knew and Choji knew from experience that if he and Temari put their minds to something, they could make it happen. “But it doesn’t even matter, because she won’t want to.”
“Ino was right.” Choji sighed. “You’re scared.”
Shikamaru felt that was an unfair assessment. “I’m just being realistic!”
“Then shouldn’t this be her decision?” Choji asked. “She should at least know how you feel about her before you give up.” Shikamaru looked instinctively into the crowd again, his eyes immediately drawn to her. “Go. Invite her to the Festival. You can worry about what to do and say there.”
Temari turned, as if able to sense his gaze on her. She tilted her head to side, a slight invitation, but then she turned away. She wouldn’t be seeking him out any more tonight. He would have to pursue her. Maybe some puzzles don't need to be solved, Shikamaru mused. They just need to be attempted.
Filled with purpose, he weaved his way through the courtyard, focused on reaching her. He tapped on her shoulder and took a deep breath when she turned to face him. Strangely, he felt calmer than he had felt all night. “I would like to extend my personal invitation for you to come to the Konoha Winter Festival. If you are willing to make the trip, I would be honored to be your escort for the event.” He held his breath, waiting for her answer.
Her lips curved into a full smile, making his heart stutter. "I believe that can be arranged."

Kankuro
Tumblr media
"Honestly, what a drag...I'm stuck around in an endless circle of boring missions...What is the Hokage even thinking? I'm an ANBU not some Genin who has to rescue cats and take out weeds. I mean, I have my own self-missions! ...And that other stupid cat hasn't replied in a week...Don't tell me Gaara gave him a mission? Come on, Neko-chan, don't scare me for no reason...Ah! Nevermind, I'm close to the Country of Wind anyways, better pay my friends a little visit~!" The red-head smirk widely under her fox mask, changing the direction of her running completely, now super excited to surprise her dear friends she hasn't seen in a long time. Much to her shock, however, she wasn't welcomed by either of the Sand Siblings at all, but in fact, one of the officials told her that Temari was on ambassador-business in Konohagakure, while the Kazekage got kidnapped, and Kankuro got injured trying to rescue him, and is in grave danger. Having already taken off her mask, her jaw hung open as she didn't let him finish his sentence, already being on her way to the Hospital. There, in one of the beds, was a single patient, writhing in pain, eyes closed, groaning in agony as if he was having a nightmare.
It was Kankuro.
But not Neko-chan, the Puppet Master that she used to tease endlessly and play around with.
This wasn't him.
This was Kankuro, a normal person with an injury that could end his life in the blink of an eye.
A person who was struggling to keep on going, to save his little brother from an inevitable demise.
The sight in front of her made her realise that, despite being in the ANBU, the Konoha teaching and the Will of Fire stuck to her tighter than she'd have ever wanted to admit.
For the first time in ages, she could feel something.
A sharp pain in her chest, as if her heart was being stomped on and crushed in front of her very eyes
A shinobi shouldn't have emotions, or it would destroy the completion rate of the mission.
"Guess I should just quit, then?"
those thoughts rung in her head.
Trying to calm down, she softly made her way towards him and sit on his bed, pushing away the hair from his face and wiping the thin layer of sweat forming, as she held his hand gingerly, kissing it.
"Damn it, Neko-chan...If only I knew this happened...I should have realised much sooner...I'm...I'm sorry...Please don't die...Gaara needs you...And Temari too...And all Suna, of course...And well...I guess I need you too...Tsk, who was the imbecile who dared mess with you?! Once I find out, I'm going to...Goodness, what am I not going to do to him! I will avenge you, that's certain...But...Is there anything I can do to help, I wonder..?"
Kitsune mumbled aimlessly under her breath, the words addressed more towards her than anything else, as she could barely look at the brown haired boy in front of her, instead settling for searching for a medical nin so she could understand the situation better and see if she could possibly give any help.
Kankuro knew that it was a bad idea. He knew that he shouldn't go after Gaara because the individuals who had abducted him were dangerous and if Gaara couldn't defeat his abductor, then he knew that he had no chance going up against the guy, let alone two of them. And yet he'd still gone because Gaara was his brother and he loved him. Kankuro had become extremely protective of his younger brother after that, so to see Gaara be taken away and not do anything about it was out of the question even if he knew that it was a lost cause and that he was probably going to end up dead.  Maybe he didn't end up dead but his current condition really wasn't all that better. He hadn't thought that being poisoned could hurt quite so much. But that was probably the point; to leave the inflicted victim in as much pain as possible before they eventually died. What had he been told? Four days? Two? Kankuro was having a really hard time remembering how much longer he had to live when he couldn't even figure out how to breathe properly. Each breath felt painful and his entire body was searing with pain. All he'd been able to understand was that the doctor's had no idea how to help him. But he wasn't afraid because the only worry that he had was focused on Gaara. He wanted to know that his brother was alright and that he was going to come back home. If he was told news like that, then he could die happy.  He would fall asleep from time to time. Restless sleep that was plagued by nightmares. And when he'd open his eyes, his vision would be so blurry that he'd just close them all over again and try to make sense of the voices around him. One voice surprised him because he hadn't heard it in awhile. He couldn't understand most of the words but Kankuro was interested enough in the voice that he had to force his eyes open to see who it was. He was in too much pain to get his brain to connect the voice to a person unless he actually looked. "Oh. It's you...you've picked a bad time to be a tourist.." Just getting those words out caused the pain in his chest to increase and so Kankuro stopped talking after that and squeezed his eyes shut against the pain.  But he didn't have to talk anymore because a frantic doctor stepped up to Kitsune to explain the situation. "Kankuro-san has been poisoned and we aren't able to do anything for him. We can't even give him something to numb the pain because it might react badly with the poison and cause it to spread faster. We had Lady Chiyo, our best healer, look him over but she wasn't able to do anything either. Hopefully someone from Konoha will be here to help but it's up to a three day walk...more if there are sand storms."
"Poisoned...You said? There's someone who could go against even Kankuro, at poison? Poison...Don't tell me you somehow managed to run into Akasuna no Sasori?! Gods...If not even Lady Chiyo managed to cure him, then there's no other. Hang in there, Kankuro, if Sasori did this to you, I have a shot at keeping you stable until Sakura comes. If Konoha sent help, I'm sure the Hokage sent her. Sakura's the best, okay? She can save you, no doubt. Do you hear me, Neko-chan?! Hang in there, fight, and show Sasori that you're the best!" Kitsune said, fired up by the information given to her by the doctor, which made her nod and ask the medical nin for the medical report and for the laboratory, so she could create a temporary relief for the boy. She wasn't a proper medical nin, not like Sakura, but she knew a bit more than average. Most shinobi are unaware of the dangers that lurk every second while on missions, dangers that can cause wounds. Wounds can be treated, but most teams don't have a medical nin, which is why the death rate is pretty high. Although she started learning medical jutsu for noble causes, she felt like a traitor. A traitor who betrayed not only herself, but Konoha, Suna, Kankuro and her old friend...Sasori. As much as she admired the puppeteer, and thanked him for teaching her the basics of chakra strings, he also taught her about poisons and antidotes of every type. She's been using weapons bathed in lethal poisons for years, but now, the poisons she prided herself with, were threatening her Kitten's life, which meant she had to destroy every principle she had, to save him. But it was worth it. She only had to wait a day before Sakura arrived, and once she did, she knew the information she had would help the pinkette work fast and efficient. Until then, she knew she had to work tirelessly to create the antidote. That day passed as slowly as a year, it seemed to the girl, as she could barely think of anything else but the state Kankuro was in when she arrived. She was determined to ease away the pain in any way possible, by any means necessary. Wiping her brow, she smiled softly at the jade-green antidote in the small vial, and getting up shakily, she made her way to the patient and sat down besides him, gazing at him as she caressed his face, before looking at the doctor and telling him about the antidote, a formality needed in order to be allowed to get the patient to drink it. She only hoped the antidote would work fast enough for him to feel less pain, and that Sakura would come faster so she could take away the poison from his system, before it was too late. "Hang in there, Neko-chan. I'm here. Kitsune is here, okay? I won't let you leave me before you can finally beat me at sparring. I'm like a parasite, y'know that. You can't get rid of me, even if you wanted." The fox-like girl chuckled weakly, trying to ease her own mind before kissing him hand once again before administering the liquid.
"Urgh...Couldn't you make it taste better...?" he uttered, choking on the serum, still not able to properly open his eyes, and so, not being able to see her face. In truth, he has never seen her face.
They first met when the Hokage assigned her, an ANBU, to show him around the village, in a way to make her take a break from all the difficult missions, and despite being rather socially awkward, they got along really well. Her fox mask was hiding all her fox-like features, the sly smirk, the mischievous glint in her emerald eyes, the beautiful, flawless porcelain skin... Or at least, that's how he imagined her.
The first day they met, they agreed to take each other's mask/hood off, but she tricked him, so she got to see him without his hood, but he couldn't reciprocate and from then on, he's been trying endlessly, but to no avail, to see her face. It was maddening for him, and it got to the point where he'd just randomly get caught daydreaming at how she'd look like. Maybe once he gets better, she will allow him to see her face, as a reward for not dying... If he indeed doesn't die, that is.
"Goodness, Sakura, honestly, I've never been happier to see you! Please save him, I've done all I could! I need your help to extract the poison from his system! I've seen it done at the hospital before, but it's incredibly difficult and I wouldn't trust anyone else to do it. The antidote...I did it already. If there's something I'm a Goddess at, it's poisons. I-I'll fill you in on the details as we go, but let's hurry and prepare! I know, and I'm sorry...I know you've been running for 3 days straight, but if we stay much longer, who knows what might happen!" the fox-girl yapped frantically, hugging her pink-haired best friend, green eyes staring into green eyes.
Sakura realised the gravity of the situation in a second, as she knew Kitsune never took off her mask, and now that she saw the obvious signs of sleep deprivation and general self-neglect and overwork, she realised that she was incredibly worried for the boy. She realised the signs of desperate emotions better than anyone else, for she would have been the same, were it Sasuke in Kankuro's place. The pinkette nodded firmly and rushed to the bed, reading briefly the status report, as well as hearing what Kitsune had to say and then started ordering the other doctors around, since she needed all the equipment ready.
As she instructed the fire-kissed girl on the procedure, and they began to take out the lethal poison from his system and although the method was incredibly advanced and difficult, there was nothing those two couldn't do together.
Kitsune ignored everything around her, including Temari, her dear friend, Naruto, Kakashi, even Lady Chiyo and the others who had to restraint Kankuro from thrashing around too much, as the girls used water to take away the poison from his system, and after hours, as soon as Sakura declared that there was no more poison left, she fell to her knees, holding the boy's hand tightly in both of hers, praying to whatever deity existed out there for the first time in her life.
Soon, she found herself alone - she had no idea how much time passed since it was night outside, until she heard a grunt which made her shot up to her feet and look him him.
"Kankuro, how are you feeling? Are you in pain? Do you need anything? Water, food, some fresh air uh...Your puppets? Just tell me and-" she asked faster than the brown-haired boy could even process, which made him roll his eyes and facepalm annoyed at her antics, until he realised that the one in front of him had nothing to conceal her face, and he could only stare at her with wide eyes, trying to usher any sound, but not being able too.
"Kankuro? Kankuro, answer me! Can you hear me? Is there something wrong? Oh my god, what if the poison got to his brain and fucked up his synapses...Or or maybe it damaged the temporal lobe? Or-...Oh my God, I must go get Sakura -" much like a meerkat she rambled and rambled, until she heard a quiet "Shut up", which had her stop in her tracks, slowly looking at him, concern still obvious in her eyes.
"Gosh...You're just as annoying as usual...Do you ever shut up?" he tried to joke, but his voice was still hoarse. "Oh uh...Sorry I...I was just worried and uhm...I...I'll just go get Sakura and leave you alone. You need peace and quiet to recover and she's better suited for that. I'll...Uhm...See you." biting her lip, she tried to turn away to leave, but was stopped by Kankuro who grabbed her wrist. "Don't be stupid, I never told you to leave. Not now, when I finally get to see your face. And it only took...What? 3 years? Gosh, you're hard to get. And it only took almost dying for you to forget to put your mask on when around me. Haha..." he smiled softly, motioning for her to sit on the bed next to him. "You almost died, Kankuro. I don't think this is the right time to joke or point out the fact that I let you see my face. It's no big deal, after all. It's just a face, nothing extraordinary, everyone has one." she shrugged, not understanding why he'd talk about that and not of other things more important. "Do you remember how we met?" he asked with a soft smirk, analysing her mimic very carefully. "How could I forget something like that...?" she muttered, slightly offended that he thought she would forget the day she met him.
The day when Kitsune went back from her highly important mission, she went straight to the Hokage's office to get another one, but was surprised to see a person she's never seen before, and even worse, Tsunade's smirk. Apparently, the blonde wanted to give her a break and had her mission be just showing the Sunagakure ninja around, only knowing that his name is Kankuro and he's the old Kazekage's son. The red-head cursed herself mentally since she was a terrible conversation-maker, but the time spent with him proved to be incredibly fun and soothing, since he was a sociable and friendly person.
"So, haven't seen ya around. Are you one of Naruto's many friends too?" he asked barely stealing a glance in her direction. "I used to help him cheat in the Academy. Then, we got separated, him with his team, myself with the ANBU and we didn't get to speak much. Then again, we meet once a month to eat ramen from Ichiraku." she said as a tint of nostalgia hit her. "Heh. That sounds like a lot of fun. Wish I had as many friends as him, sometimes. He's so obnoxious, though, I'd rather leave that one out." he chuckled, shaking his head. "Why do you think we only meet once a month? There's only so much hyperactivity one can take before it gets exhausting." the fox girl smirked behind the mask. "How come you don't take your mask off? What, scared to charm me to death~?" he smirked at her, stopping abruptly. "Supposedly, I'm on a mission. By ANBU rules, I have to keep it on. And not kill the one I'm supposed to protect, if it matters." the smugness in her voice was evident, as she too stopped, getting closer to his face. "Besides, it's not like I see you taking off your hood, kitty-cat." "Kitty-cat?! Wh-What the hell?!" he stuttered, looking at her wide-eyed in shock. "Well, clearly, this hood and the paint make you look like an innocent, harmless kitten. Can you prove me otherwise~?" she tried to provoke him. "I don't look harmle-...Wait a second...You're trying to provoke me! Oh, no no no, missy, it's not gonna work with me! I'm a calm, collected person-" he tried to say, but was cut off by Kitsune pinching his cheeks and saying 'hey, kitty, kitty, kitty~!" "I'M NOT A CAT! STOP THAT!" but the second he grasped her wrists, trying to make her stop, he halted and smirked. "How about a truce? If I take my hood off, I get to see your face. Deal?" he tried to reason. "Okay, fine. That sounds like a fair deal." she stated calmly, slowly taking his hood off, then ruffled his messy hair. "That was uncalled for. I said I was going to take my hood off." he pouted, trying to arrange his hair back. "Ah...You're right, I'm sorry. I was going to tell you that you might be the one charming me to death, after all, but...The deal was broke. Sorry, my fault~! Won't happen again~!" she said, giggling at his betrayed face. "Y-You...! You tricked me! You evil vixen!" he said desperately, trying to reach for her mask, but she quickly leaned back, inches away from his fingers. "Sorry, love. I guess I won't be able to kill you with my charm, just yet. After all, my mission is to protect you~." she was biting her lip, trying to stop herself from laughing. "You're going to be the death of me..." he sulked, hanging his head and crossing his arms. "Keep waiting and I might just be~." Kitsune said, pinching his cheek and walking in the direction of Ichiraku's, willing to treat her new kitty friend to the best ramen in town.
Remembering their first encounter, she smiled softly, closing her eyes and shaking her head, grasping Kankuro's hand again with both her hands.
"How could I ever forget that day..." she muttered, nostalgic. "Help me stand a bit, will you? I uh...Need some water." he tried to find an excuse to get closer to the girl, who was already there with a cool glass of water for him, helping him in a standing position slowly. She was completely unaware of how close they are, her mind only focused on making sure he's comfortable and not in pain, but him, on the other hand...His face flushed a bit, and he could already feel his heart beating faster and faster, as she kept his hand on his lower back to support him as he drank the water. "You're a bit flushed, Kankuro, are you sure you're feeling okay? Your face got really hot and rosey all of a sudden...Do you have a fever? Gods, that'd be horrible-" she started, putting her her hands on his cheeks and her lips on his forehead to feel if the warmth was unusual, but seeing that it was normal, she slowly backed away, her hands still on his face, looking down. "Do you...Do you like me, Kankuro?" she asked lowly, unsure of herself. "What gave it away?" he asked awkwardly, chuckling as her scratched the back of his head. "You don't have a fever, so if you didn't blush because of that...Well...I could only think of one other reason." she bit her lip, looking away, putting her hands on her lap, grasping them together shyly. "Well, there goes my confession. Never try to be romantic with a girl who knows medical stuff, she'll sniff you right from the start."  he chuckled, shaking his head and ruffling his hair a bit.  "I-I...Haha, Kankuro, I wasn't expecting that, to be fair. I'm...A bit shocked." she chuckled awkwardly, not knowing what to do. "Just when did you start calling me by my name, anyways? What happened to Neko-chan? It's not like you to be so serious for so long." he gave her a mock-smirk. "Honestly...CAN YOU BLAME ME?! You almost died! I was so worried and you expect me to care about what I call you or if I wear the mask or whatever?! Since I came here I could only think that I'd have to live without you and like?! I couldn't stop worrying and crying and all you can say is WHY DON'T I CALL YOU NEKO-CHAN?!" she yelled at him, barely stopping herself from beating him up. "Well...Yeah, I guess that's what I'm saying. I may not like it all that much, but if it's you...Let's just say I wouldn't let anyone call me that, okay? Look, I'm not good with words, okay? Yes, Kitsune, I like you, what else do you want me to say to make it more obvious? And you not calling me that stupid nickname, it's like, you're trying to distance yourself from me. Is that what you want?" he asked, slightly pissed off at her lack of reaction. "Do you think a nickname is going to show you that I love you? If that will make you feel better, then fine, I'll call you that. But I still love you, with or without that nickname. I love you, Neko-chan. Just...You have so many things on your head that I couldn't dare to say anything...But I had to make sure you were alive and healthy. People need you, but I'm the last person you should think about." she sighed, looking away. "It's because there are so many things on my head that I'd want you to be mine. So many bad things...Gaara getting kidnapped, the village getting attacked...But I have you. If I have you, then I think I can brave it all. You've always been with me, so don't leave me now. Kitsune...Will you be my girlfriend?" he asked, putting his hand on the back of her head, getting closer to her face. She looked into his eyes with her jade-green doe eyes looking wide in shock, searching deep into his soul, and seeing with how much love he's hazing at her, the soft smile on his face, she threw her arms around his neck and kissed him softly, keeping him close to her.
"Guess that was easier than expected. I should get into life-threatening situations more often, if it means you get to kiss me." he chuckled, smiling shyly at her. "Next time you say that, I promise you I'm gonna beat the hell out of you next time you say, got it, Neko-chan? If you want a kiss, go ahead and steal it. Ain't gonna make it easy for you, hope y'know that, right~?" she slowly managed to get her infamous smirk back on her face, looking at him with her usual mischievous glint in her eye. "Better not complain when that happens then, Foxface." he teased, kissing her again as he caressed her face, feeling the soft skin.
"Hey, Kankuro, how are you feeli-...Ohh, nevermind, I'll just come back later. Lucky you~!"
