But being a 'himbo' doesn't automatically make Verin stupid. He's still one of the youngest commanders in a dominantly military country, entrusted with one of the most volatile outposts in the Dynasty. He was raised in, arguably, the most aggressively ambitious, strict and demanding households and dens in his society. He's under intense pressure both socially and professionally and has expectations of him that if aren't met people die and abyssal monstrosities set loose on not just his country but his world. He's running a town, a military base and an enemy border all at the same time with the furthest point of backup being approximately 3 to 5 days away so he has to run it almost on par with being an independent city-state. ALOT of lives depend on him. And all the while the hooks of Den Thelyss and zealotry of the Luxon faith yanking on him in demand to conform and fit the bill of a high officer of the Kryn Dynasty born of one of three elite dens.

Compared to people like Essek and Caleb and Beau of course he's no where near their intelligence. Or as a soul on his first life compared to Umavis like Sunbreaker Olomon or Deirta Thelyss or the Dusk Captain Quana Kryn absolutely no way can he claim the same level of experience or intellectual expertise.

We have so little to go on this character, every crumb and tidbit so wonderful. And bless Dani Carr and Marisha Ray for demanding a little more info but I feel still Verin is a mystery and unless he comes to be a major player in Campaign 3 or a one-shot or the EXU, we will always have little to go on.

I can and love the idea of Verin having all the best traits of the lawful good himbo Matt offered up. Attractive and athletic, sure. But also quick to seek fun and offer calm, protective, supportive, sweet, kind and respectful of EVERYONE. Traits that the world sorely needs. Traits that Den Thelyss and his own mother saw as weaknesses. Traits that in the harsh times of their youth and throughout their lives were a bulwark for Essek and held tight those bonds of brotherhood and friendship.

But stupid? Dumb? A fool?

Things may go over his head. He may miss a cue or hint. Has probably opened a map upside down a time or two. But he's likely always laughed at himself and despite a harsh home that vilified dependence, ineptitude and failure, he luckily had a big brother that always took care of him when he asked for help. Leaving him blissfully unafraid and far from shy to seek help when things escape him or don't make sense.
