So I’m pretty new to tumblr, and I suppose I should introduce myself!

Hello there! My name is Aspen, but you can also call me Burr, and I’m a digital artist based in the United States. I mostly draw my original characters for the show The Dragon Prince, but I do sometimes draw fanart and some other random stuff! Meet Jasira and Seren! These are my old TDP ocs that I created a few years ago, drawn in full color for the first time!

Jasira (left) is the older of the two by a few months, and has a reason she hides part of her face with her hair. She enjoys games and traveling, and her old dream was to be an archer, before The Incident.

Seren (right) has a grandparent who was a Sunfire elf (making her ¾ Moonshadow and ¼ Sunfire) hence her straighter horns and more warm complexion. She is also blind due to the same incident that caused the reason Jasira hides half of her face. She is also a mage!

I will be posting a comic centering these two and their relationship sometime later once I get a better feel for digital art.

NTBR but all your ocs look different?

Yes they do. The creators haven't given a clear answer for which elvish/human traits half-elves would have, so I'd like to think it's a roll of the dice...and that's what I did. I rolled a 20 sided die and gave graded them on a scale from 1 (elf) to 20 (human)

Aviv I did first. Aviv got a 3. So basically an elf with five fingers and an unusual pigment in his horns. (the pigment in the horns was an artist error, but I liked the idea that there would be unexpected and unexplained traits pop up and didn't ask for a revision).

Jaiyana got a 14. So she looks more human than elf. So she gets round ears, five fingers, smaller horns (another happy accident), and the unusual horn pigment.

Aditya got a whopping 19. Honestly, I didn't know how to do him. Do I give him eight fingers, or pointed ears? Either option sounded like it would be worth more than a point (I admittedly didn't think this through). Eventually I decided he'd be human passing but have a hc Sunfire trait of having warmer skin than a human.

Aashi got a 11. So I'm glad that the horns were the usual length and color. She leans more towards human with round ears and five fingers.

I probably could have used a better system to assign traits, and was saved by happy accidents (because how in the world would I show a difference in between a 14 and 11 when the only visible differences between sunfire elves and humans are horns, ears and fingers), but I'm still happy with the results. Though there's been a prompt or two were I would have mentioned the unique horns had I commissioned them earlier and I'm kicking myself for dragging my feet on placing an order.

Skin color: Dark brown with a somewhat gold undertone

Horn size and shape: around 4 to 7 inches in length and 2 inches in diameter at the base, and curl at the ends

Eye color (heterochromia): the left eye is dark blue and the right eye is hazel

Markings/scars: she has a small scar on her left hand between her thumb and index finger, and has a few small gold markings (like little suns) around her eyes

Hairstyle, length, and color: short, dark red, and shaved on the right side

Animal companion: A shire stallion named Thorn she raised from a colt.

Some day I should draw my ocs in a "reverse universes" version.

Feylan (Originally a Startouch Elf in TDP) would probably be an Ancient Elf, perhaps related to one of the Evanuris as it would fits his storyline.

Adahleni and Athrahel (Dalish Elves) would be Moonshadow Elves.

Tamril and Almael (Orlesian city Elves) would be Sunfire Elves because french accents.

Liswen (Moonshadow Elf) would be a Dalish and she would wear the Vallaslin of Sylaise.

Fun Fact:

Derry Girls & The Dragon Prince came into my life about the same time and  I fabricated a whole Derry Girls AU of TDP in my head and I was gonna call it Xadia Girls  Basically:

Rayla in Erin's role,

Nyx in Michelle's role,

Selene (half elf oc) in Claire's role,

(sunfire elf oc I forgot) in Orla's role,

and Callum in James role

The girls would still be elves, Callum would still be human. He would be transferring to their school to learn magic.

It was just going to follow them in teenage antics & wackiness

I never actually wrote it but I think about it still sometimes.
