“ YOURS, MINE, OURS. ” BUCKY BARNES + FEM ! READER ( blurb )

You begrudgingly pulled your eyes out of the book in front of you as the bells above the bookstore door jingled. The man that just walked in was tall and muscular. His hair was entirely tucked under a baseball cap and he had a rock-hard, surly expression on his face.

“Hi,” you said, not bothering to stand up. “Every book is 20% off. That doesn’t include stationary, pens, bookmarks, or anything that’s not a book. You don’t look like an idiot but you have no idea how many people have gotten pissed because they thought that the entire store was 20% off.”

“People are stupid,” he replied, glancing at you before glancing away.

You nodded in agreement and murmured a “yeah.” You heaved a sigh. “Well, happy browsing. Let me know if you need any help.”

“Actually, I do,” he said. He strode over to the counter you were sitting behind and just barely leaned forward on the surface. “See, my friend told me that I needed to get a hobby. He offered sports ’nd stuff but that just seems entirely too boring. Painting was a no go for me, I have zero creativity. My next best go was reading. Do you have any recommendations?”

You, now intrigued, put your book down and stood up. “What are you looking for? Thrillers? Romance? Classics?”

“I don’t really know,” he admitted.

“Classics are usually pretty fairground for everyone,” you told him, leading him to an aisle. You scanned it hastily before grabbing The Picture of Dorian Gray off the shelf. “The Picture of Dorian Gray, man sells his soul for eternal youth and beauty.” You handed it to him before picking another. “Little Women, follows the lives of four sisters as the go through life.” You stacked that book on top of the first. “Treasure Island, pirates.” You continued to stack more books in his arms until you had given him at least ten.

“Wow,” he said, surprised. “You certainly know a lot about this.”

You nodded before smiling. “It’s my job, you know.” He smiled back and met your stare. You inhaled as you looked away. “You get the 20% off discount plus a new customer discount.”

“Really? That’s cool.”

You beamed and nodded at him. 

“You have to let me know what you think of those books,” you told him as you began to check-out the books. “You know, some people really love ‘em but others don’t.”

“I will let you know,” said the guy with a grin. “I’m Bucky, by the way.”

“Bucky? That’s a cool name. I haven’t heard that one before. I’m Y/N,” you answered warmly.

“Y/N? I like that,” he said.

“Thanks. Well, here you go, I hope you enjoy them,” you told Bucky with a wide smile. 

“I appreciate it,” Bucky responded, reciprocating your smile. He gently took the books out of your arms and walked out the door, the bell jingling above him. 

When he left you couldn’t help the gut feeling that crawled up your stomach and spread throughout your body like a disease. You fell for him, you realized, somewhat shocked. The shock wafted away and become a feeling of contentment. He was a good person to fall for.

my first thought was seoul, korea for pretty obvious reasons 😭 concerts, food, skincare & clothes. but i’ve wanted to visit barcelona since forever. it has such a historical significance and architecture like poetry. it would be my first stop if i’m honest 🤣

LMAO i don't have a snippet to show u but it's literally after the trials of apollo in apollos POV and apollo has this moment of realization of "damn percy's hella fine and i want him" but he tries to take in what he learned during his time as lester and is like "no ive interferred with percys life enough he deserves rest he doesn't want a god" etc etc, even going as far to write a list of reasons not to go after him, with the last and scariest reason being "Annabeth" cuz homegirl gonna come after him if she feels the need to protect percys honor and that lowkey just cements his resolve to just let percy live

come to find out all his hesitance and worries were for naught cuz percy had a whole plan of seducing him with annabeth and piper as his wingwomen and his plan succeeded in like. two days LMAO

just an excuse for me to write percy pursuing apollo rather than the other way around and apollo stumbling into the relationship while percy is confident in what he wants heheh

oh my god. akutagawa. you know how he saw himself in kyouka? how he, consequently, treated her the way he would've wanted to be treated? "i'm going to give you a reason to live"—i think he tried. he was just never going to get it right, because kyouka wasn't him, so her needs weren't his own, and he doesn't know what real gentleness looks like. he wasn't lying when he told her that in the same way he wasn't lying when telling her that he was happy for her (but i think that even that was something he said based on the closure he would’ve wanted, had he been on her place.)

do tell abt the transfem shuichi hcs..

Ok so i think she is a beast with a Lot of internalized stuff (mostly pertaining to herself) and she bottled it up for a Looooooong time. a lot of her depression and self-hatred/self-doubt comes from the dysphoria stuff! she also has a bit of an irrational fear that being transfem will lose her her career (this isnt smth shes thought abt consciously bcs logically she knows its not true since kyouko is a trans woman detective & doing just fine).

she figures at out one day in her mid-20s when shes at home sick and she tries on one of kyoukos bras "as a joke" and then kyouko comes home to her "husband" sobbing for no discernible reason. so she walks her thru it both logically and emotionally (kyouko has experience w this bcs as previously mentioned shes a trans woman) and helps shuichi come to the realization that she is a Woman.

theyve been married for a couple of years but still havent legally changed their surnames bcs its kinda expensive and they already have lots of legal stuff in their jobs, they dont want more paperwork + they cant rlly decide who should take whose. but in the end, post girl-realization, shuichi decides to take kyoukos surname since she already has to do a name change anyway so why not kill 2 birds with one stone? her preferred name is shiho (like the prsk character lol) although she seriously considered shiori and ichika for a while.

she is soooo much happier once she transitions! shes like a whole new person shes happy she frolicks she skirt spinny. shes a lot more confident in herself and her skills. she also didnt think she wanted to have kids when she was still in the egg zone, but after realizing shes a woman shes like "actually i DO want to have kids! i just want to be a mom not a dad"
