“Are you a gambling man, Will?”

Will blinked. “I’ve never had the time or means.”

“You have both now,” Hannibal spread a palm at his side, a strangely welcoming gesture. “You seek independence from an Alpha, but the opportunities only a bond could provide, correct?”

Will nodded slowly, eyes narrowing as he flicked them between the doctor’s own.

“I seek a companion with whom to build a life and family, going forward.”

Will shook his head slowly. “I don’t follow.”

Will is an Omega who desires independence, freedom, and the opportunity to be anything but a barefoot-pup-bearing simpering thing. Hannibal is an Alpha who finds his mind curious.

They make a deal: if Will can convince Hannibal before his next heat that he is worth more than breeding stock, and can go through his heat without begging for his Alpha, Hannibal will not mate him, but make him a ward instead; Will could go to college, get a job, do anything he wanted.

If not, then he will be Hannibal's mate, bear pups, and accept his role.

But is it really as simple as that?

Hannibal was a man of simple tastes, and while such things as erotic pet play piqued his interest, he’d asked for the man to shave, to dress well, and to come as exactly who he was: a beautiful man for hire.

Hannibal doesn't want to sleep with people he knows - because someone always gets attached. Will enjoys his work - because he doesn't have to get attached.

A perfect pair, or a perfect storm?

10 Writer Questions

1. What’s your favourite genre to write? Just really soft, sweet stuff that’ll rip your heart out.

2. Do you pull inspiration from real life, or do you pull things from other books/fanfiction you’ve read? Inspiration in terms of content comes from books/fanfic/whatever media the thing I’m writing is based on. If we’re talking ~themes and ~emotional arcs and ~growth, a lot of that comes from observing real life and real people.

3. Do you tend to write one-shots, short stories, or longer things? Longer. God help me.

4. Do you prefer to write description or dialogue? Dialogue! Because of all the different voices and turns of phrase (and body language) you can experiment with! But I don’t like to have pages and pages of dialogue, so I try to balance it with descriptions. For nutrients. And such.

5. Favourite fic/book of all time? Any fic by Ark or susiecarter is my goddamn jam. As for books, it’s gotta be Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson, All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr, and The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt.

6. Favorite Trope? These are some I really enjoy (that I had to look up because I’m not super familiar with what they’re called lol): Pint-Sized Powerhouse, Bruiser w/ a Soft Center, Jerkass Woobie, Cry for the Devil, When (They) Smile, and Crouching Moron, Hidden Badass. To name a few.

7. Are you the kind of person to work on more than one WIP? I am. God help me.

8. How long have you been writing? Something like ten years un/officially, but I’ve been scribbling shit in notebooks since I could read, just about.

9. Do you tend to write more in the morning, afternoon, or evening? I perk up in the evening and like to write at night, but I’m definitely an all-day kinda kid.

10. Do you prefer to post and update your WIP chapter by chapter or wait until it’s 100% complete before sharing it? I don’t quite finish things 100% before posting, but my preference is definitely to get most of it written and edited first. There is one person who gets to read my stuff as I write, and that is my lobster, Bigwilly. <3

hi this is so random but any chance you know what happened to Provenance by drinkbloodlikewine and whiskeyandsprite on AO3?? i loved that fic and i think it might be deleted :(

oh no, it looks like you’re right! I just tried to access it and AO3 is saying I “don’t have permission” to access it. but fortunately, both drinkbloodlikewine and whiskeyandsprite are still active on AO3 and all their other fics are still available. it’s possible they might be editing it and will re-publish it when they’re done? I’ve seen fic authors do that before but I really have no idea. both authors have tumblr accounts though neither of them have posted anything in about a year, it might be worth a try to send them an ask. they’re @drinkbloodlikewine and @suntosirius
