Dan's life seems to suddenly start spinning when he rescues a client from a malicious photo booth.
Phil is the co-founder of the IRL store, but wants to start working to meet new people and to fill his days. That has nothing to do whatsoever with him pining after the mysterious blogger, and he isn't even really all that lonely, actually.

Dan lives and works somewhere, or anywhere really. By fate, or call it the British Railway train running times, he ends up in Lylchester. Before he can help himself, he has made the first real best friend he has ever had - Beatrix. And suddenly, life does not seem so difficult anymore. Dan appreciates the work he can do, even if it has him interact with the rich idiot Phil more often that he would personally choose.

Desires (ao3) - A_Million_Regrets

Dan Howell and Phil Lester completely and utterly hate each other. They fight every time they meet, and all of their friends are tired of it. But one day, these two hot-headed, reckless men stumble through a secret passage in a mysterious old house and wake up on a strange island uninhabited by other intelligent life forms. They only have each other and no way to escape. Will they fight to death, or will they learn to trust each other in a world where no one else exists? Can they put aside their mutual hatred for each other to survive this misfortune?
finding light in the dark places. (ao3) - commonemergency

So they just continue to work in each others spaces, creating things out of dough and making better things with icing. Donna’s slogan is that everything was made with love but he thinks that’s just because she made this thing—they’re just the hands that give it out to other people. One day, Dan thinks, he’ll hope to feel that passionate about something again. Or a story about grief and loss, found family, donuts, and first love.
Hate Me Closer (Phan) (ao3) - MySecretsX
Summary: Two boys, Dan and Phil, are both from reasonably different backgrounds. Dan's an English scholar from a lower-class family, whereas Phil's parents paid his way into the school with no trouble. But, they'd probably find they weren't so different if they gave each other a chance.

home is where the heart is (ao3) - orphan_account
Summary: 16 year old Daniel Howell had always felt out of place in his dad's fancy apartment or under the Singaporean sun. Life was not bad, but being the son of a British expatriate banker divorcee with commitment issues meant that there was never a home.
Inspired by the only constant in his life, a similar aged British youtuber by the name of Phil Lester, Dan decides to move to his supposed homeland Britain on a whim, in the hopes of escaping his bubble of isolation, and maybe find the place where he truly belonged.
Somehow Dan lands himself in one of the few notorious all boys boarding schools in Britain, one that has bizarre traditions, vicious inter-house competition and way too many attractive boys; and a roommate who had been Dan's best friend all along, even if Phil Lester hadn't known it.
Dan finally found home.
If You Don't Love Me, Pretend (ao3) - phantasticworks
Summary: All his life, Dan has wanted to have the chance to be a parent someday. He would be the best parent that ever existed, he was sure of it. Fostering might not be the most traditional way on the road to parenting, but Dan's dead set on doing it anyway. But, well, it would be easier with a co-parent, right?
the bed-sharing, fake relationship, friends-to-lovers, parent fic i was desperate to read; when i shouted into the void and was met with silence, i decided i'd do it myself
linger on (ao3) - dizzy, waveydnp
Summary: A recent loss has ground Phil's life to a halt. At 33, he's static in his grief and living in the house he grew up in - until his mother kicks him out.
In a fit of indignation and with nothing to lose, he answers the first listing he finds for a room to rent in London... a listing posted by a guy named Dan.
Love Me Further (Phan) (ao3) - MySecretsX
Summary: Sequel to Hate Me Closer.
With achieving dreams comes sacrifice; and working out if those debts were ever worth it. While in Auburn Independent School for Boys, Dan and Phil signed their decision away and believed that was the last. However, sometimes paths cross again and you have to remember to notice them when they do.

The executive decides that Daniel would be the perfect guest on Phil's radio show, so she sends Phil to speak with the evasive and mysterious piano player. When they finally meet, Phil starts to think that he has found the person who will make his life complete. Unfortunately, Dan has a secret that will make getting close to him difficult.
Strictly Come Dancing but make it GAY (ao3) - natigail
Summary: @danielhowell: maybe i’d actually consider doing @bbcstrictly if they allowed same-sex couples. who wouldn’t want a sexy man spinning you around? it’s not just a girl’s dream. c'mon people let's see some pretty and fierce girls pair up and handsome and strong boys get it on. i dare you.
Dan Howell calls Strictly out on Twitter for not allowing any same-sex couples and accidentally volunteers himself to be one of the contestants if they were to change that. It was a joke. It had so clearly been a joke. Why did they take him up on it?! He’s sure he’ll trip over his own feet and hate every second, but then he meets his partner, the endearingly clumsy dancer Phil Lester.

And maybe strip the clothes off of his body as well.

The Era of the Wingless Angel (ao3) - americanphancakes
Summary: The man, the myth, the legend! Singer-Songwriter Dan Howell is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his debut with a tell-all interview. How did his father’s departure from his life affect his songwriting? Why did his marriage to his background dancer fail? And are he and producer Phil Lester romantically involved? Tune in to find out.
too far to walk alone (ao3) - chickenfree
Summary: “The hazelnut stracciatella,” he says, as always. They might or might not have a bet in the shop about whether he’ll ever vary.
too high (can't come down) (ao3) - danfanciesphil (thejigsawtimess)
Summary: Suspending himself 7,000 feet above the rest of the world seems likely to be a sure-fire way for Dan to escape normality, and isolate himself for the foreseeable future. The Secret of the Alps, a small hotel tucked into the side of the Swiss mountains is too niche for most avid adventurers to have heard of, making it the perfect place for Dan to work as he sorts through his problems. Unfortunately, privacy is a coveted thing, and as Dan soon finds out, the hotel harbours one guest who values it more than most.
(when you gonna realise) it was just that the time was wrong (ao3) - The_Blonde
Summary: "His notebook is divided into five columns, as much as he can remember. I’m with Dan. I’m not with Dan. Dan is far away from me. I love him, but I shouldn’t. I love him, but I can’t. Dan Howell; an impossible boy turning up in all variations of impossible dreams. The whole reason. The loss of something that you never quite found in the first place."
Or: Phil works in a coffee shop. Or at an animal sanctuary. Or at a university. Maybe he's a Youtuber. Maybe he runs an editing firm. Sometimes he's in the 1920s. In all of these places he has dreams. In all of these places he is in love with Dan. It's just trying to work out which time is the right one.

starter for: @kimnamjooning
Kim Jisoo was loving the trip, after long months on tour this was just was she needed, time to relax, to get her energy back before heading out into the world again. Plus there was one person that made the whole think even better, Namjoon, the two had chosen to get to the next step into their relationship and had moved together during the days she had been back to South Korea before this lovely trip and since then everything had been just perfect, nothing would ever beat the feeling she got by waking up beside him or how her heart fluttered with how domestic everything was, she was trully in love with him and with this new reality, one that had only extended to their vacations.
Her smile growing as the sun raised, the female had bugged her boyfriend until he had woken up, attacking his face with kisses and tickles with her hair until he had woken up wanting to walk by his side on the beach to see the sunrise with him. Now the couple was walking on the beach  jisoo leaning on him, resting her head on his as she watched the sunrise, simply enjoying their time together. “Thank you for coming with me Joonie.” The idol said, snuggling closer to her boyfriend before the walk along the beach continued. “It’s such a beautiful place, don’t you think?” Jisoo asked as they walked by the beach, the water soaking gently her feet and long dress making her squeal at the cold feeling before laughing, looking up at him. Nothing but love in her dark orbs until she spoted something familiar, sparkling in her brain the memories of something she had wanted to show him. Something she was sure he would love.
“Oh I rembember...” Come Joonie, I saw some crabs this way yesterday!” She said while turning back to look at him, a wide smile as she guided him to the place she had seen yesterday on her walk by the beach.

Hey I really enjoy what you do, and I'm willing to ask you something! It's been my dream for awhile to become a character designer/storyboard artist since the beginning of highschool. I draw as much as possible, but I'm usually not satisfied with what I make, and I'm wondering I'm going about this dream right. I guess my question is, how did you achieve your dream?
I can relate. In highschool I drew a lot because I loved drawing! But there were a few things I really needed to learn before achieving my dream and they werent what I thought they'd be.
And hope youre ready for a long post because this stuff is sometimes complicated!
Up until the end of college and even after that I worked under the assumption that if I drew enough and drew well enough I'd eventually land a gig by having a strong portfolio alone. However its important to remember that working in this industry is: 1) A job with certain requirements that need to be met and- 2) collaborative which means its going to be very hard to go about this alone but also- 3) Dont lose yourself in pursuit of a job.
Regarding the first part. I thought being a good draftsman alone would get me in. I wasnt really paying attention to what goes into the field I was trying to get into. I focused mostly on character acting which is what I loved most but sorta ignored the fact that storyboards also require things like characters being in backgrounds, strong composition, and knowledge of picking good shots to tell a story. I had to step outside of my comfort zone and learn those things. I didnt have to be the best at them but I had to know enough to make it look believable. (Meaning, dont beat yourself up too much, nothing has to be perfect) Point being, research the job you want to do, find out how the animation pipeline works and what is expected of you in the position you want. If you dont know whats expected of you, it can be harder to tailor your portfolio to display the skills that recruiters want to see.
Secondly
You're going to be a part of a team so its important to make connections and be a person people will want to work with. I dont mean you have to change yourself entirely to fit in. But it helps to have social skills that show you're cooperative and nice to be around.
You may have heard about how this industry has a lot of nepotism. Thats not wrong, and it may suck to hear. But in a high stress team oriented job, you dont wanna work with people who will treat you like shit, so people are more likely to recommend you or seek you out if they know youre a good person to work with. I wasnt the most social person in highschool or college. I had a small group of friends and stuck to them. Nothing wrong with that but I was a bit...rusty with interacting with people outside that. You have to learn things like how to compromise, do things that others may want to do but you dont. It can be hard, especially if like me, you're neurodivergent, but its still important.
Not everyone is fortunate to be able to meet industry people in person but thankfully the internet has discord servers and other online spaces to try and interact with people. But PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT IS GOOD do not approach people to make a connection solely for a job. People smell that shit a mile away. Instead just, try to be yourself and be kind, make genuine connections with people when possible. Which leads me to my last point.
DONT LOSE YOURSELF
I've given a lot of information that may seem contradictory and hey, this shit isnt easy to navigate and Im still learning. Somewhere in the second step I sorta lost track of what I liked, what I wanted to do, I really became stuck on being someone I thought other people in the industry would like. I changed my art style and what I drew to better suit what I thought would be well liked. I did enjoy trying new things but eventually I was just trying to impress some anonymous blob and felt overwhelmd. I really felt like a failure as a person and an artist.
If people told me my art was so good, why couldnt I get a job?
My portfolio had examples of it from things I'd done in freelance but still no major job. I was about to give up when I was ghosted after a test I was proud of. After a really bad depressive episode I just decided to make a storyboard about fairy. Something simple but fun. I hadnt drawn a lot of my dreamons and shared them in a while so it felt nice to return to the things I liked. After finishing that personal board I put it up and thats when I started to get bites from studios.
I'll share with you what I've heard from many industry artists interviews. You need to have your own voice. It may be tempting to try and emulate someone else. (for ex. I saw a lot of people really try to replicate glen keanes work) and its okay to be inspired but if your work is nothing more than an imitation of someone else then studios would probably rather just get that person. You are an individual! You have your own experiences and likes and maybe they overlap with other things (thats okay) but try to bring your voice to the table. That also helps with the above in helping people get to know you. My shit is weird whacky zany squishy stuff and I'm happy to be getting back into it full swing. Also remember everyone's journey is totally different. Try not to compare your progress with others, it'll drive you nuts. Also remember this is just my personal experience. If you ask this question of others you're likely to get a million different responses, so take my words with a grain of salt!

I’m struggling with the guy I’m dating and feel this pressure to have sex with him. I don’t even know if I’m ready, (still a virgin here) but I don’t want to lose him. My brain and heart are going in all directions.
First of all, this has been in my asks for awhile, and it was a sore subject but I think I’m ready.
So if I’ve learned anything in my 4 relationships about myself it’s to not do anything until you’re ready and comfortable. DON’T ever make someone guilt trip you into sex. IMO, if someone truly loves you, if you’re not ready, they will be okay with it. If they’re not - then they’re not it. Now saying that, I’ve felt the guilt to have sex BUT not with the person I lost my virginity to … it was the people after. Hell, I was with my first boyfriend for just a week shy of two years and we never had sex. I wasn’t ready and he respected that. When I did lose my virginity for the first time … it was when I was ready. Actually, April 3rd will be 11 years … Anyway I initiated because I was ready and several times he asked “Are you sure” and I appreciated that because it was a big deal to me and he knew it. I’ll say it was slightly uncomfortable and did hurt at first but that was to be expected, but when I wasn’t comfortable - I let it be known and he never once took upon himself on okay we are having sex , it’s my way and what I want, who cares how she feels. Instead it was always making sure I was okay and felt good. If I wasn’t, he figured out a way to help. It made everything so much better in the long run. I was nervous and I didn’t want to suck or disappoint him (that played in my mind a ton) since he was experienced, but he never made me feel bad once. Then sex got better every-time because he took the time to read my body and make sure I was okay and what I enjoyed. Being in love with him was a big part of it too. In all honesty, I will forever be grateful for him and that my first time having sex was with him. And that my friend is what you want. What you don’t want is the guilt tripping and that’s what the two relationships after did to me, and I caved in. My relationship after- I didn’t love him at all. We were only together like 4-5 months, but the minute he found out I wasn’t a virgin, he was very pushy and I gave in way too quickly. He would just say things and I felt like I had to, and that’s not love. I felt bad every-time we had sex too which was unfortunately a lot. Most short lived relationship but most sex. He lived in South Carolina and I remember one weekend he had a Christmas Party with his EMT work family. He got super wasted and I was sober. I remember wanting to drive home and he wouldn’t let me. He was reckless and selfish, but luckily he was too drunk to want to have sex that night and passed out. We kinda went at it fighting that night if I can remember and I know it’s not good but I would see texts from his friend and when he was passed out I read one saying “If I don’t get pussy soon, she’ll smell someone else’s on me.” Something along those lines and I still stayed with him. Dumb. With my last relationship with …I think I mentioned it before but nothing but guilt trips. It would be things like Well you had sex in the past. Why not with me? Am I not good enough? Do you not love me more than him? It was a lot to say at the least. When we did have sex, the first time wasn’t bad, but after that it was all what he wanted. He wasn’t patient, he didn’t care if it hurt really bad or made me uncomfortable. When I tried to communicate what would make it better for both of us or what I like, he wasn’t having it at all. That made him mad. He’s like “it’s all about you all the time isn’t it and what about me.” I wasn’t trying to be selfish but trying to say hey ya wanna get me going, here’s how. I hated having sex with him. We didn’t have it a lot but the times we did, I wanted it to end the minute he started on me. He actually used my insecurities with my acne to get me on the pill when it really was for his benefit. He would say you’re so upset about your acne, they have birth control that helps with hormonal acne which it did but not the point. Old Manda would have stood up for herself when she wasn’t ready, but I didn’t. I think with my last relationship, I just wanted to be loved so bad and he knew it too, so he knew how to manipulate me. You don’t want that, trust me. I hate myself to this day for it.

How would you rank the seasons? With the second half of S3 being S4, I feel there’s a fine line between those two
Oh yeah there is definitely a line between the two half of Mobile Unit. Some people call the second half Season 3.5. I personally call it Season 4 because 1) there is a new main character (Osmeralda) and 2) it has its own separate story arc. So I will distinguish the Mobile Unit episodes as Season 3 and 4
Okay so there are two ways that I rank the seasons: 1) by episodes overall and 2) by season arc. Let me first rank them by episodes
Season 2: what I mean by ranking the episodes overall is that I am considering the quality of episodes as stand alone stories. And on that basis, I think season 2 had the best written episodes overall. By this point, the showrunners had a whole season under their belt and already established Odd Squad as a concept and organization. Thus, they not only knew how to write the episodes but also had the opportunity to explore more lore and try new things. Season 2 had a lot of fun and well written episodes, and I love almost all of them. In addition, this season had a lot of my favorite episodes of the whole show. And this is in part thanks to improved writing and filming styles. In addition, the dynamics between the characters are a lot of fun. The showrunners did a great job of making sure that the new agents are unique and different from the season 1 agents. Going into season 2, I was so sure that I was going to dislike the new agents but I fell in love with Olympia and Otis almost immediately. Honestly, it took me a while to really warm up to Oona (partially bc she was literally following Oscar's footsteps), but eventually I fell in love with her unique brand of craziness that is completely different from Oscar's zaniess. She is one of my favorite characters (though to be fair, I love the main 7 so so much haha)
Season 1: I've watched the show ever since it first aired (and technically before it even officially aired since the PBS Kids player released the first few episodes a few days early). And even though I loved the show from the start, upon rewatch I can definitely see that this was a new show that was still trying to find its bearing. This is especially evident in the early episodes where the episodes seem a bit slow for me. And there is a sharp contrast between the episodes from the beginning of the season vs the end. I think the writing and quality of the episodes definitely improved after Training Day. There are some episodes that I absolutely love from this season but most of the episodes are enjoyable or just okay for me. Don't get me wrong, I love season 1 (wouldn't be obsess with the show otherwise haha) but you can definitely see a learning curve as the season progress but when the show becomes great it really is GREAT
Season 4: I will be the first to admit that I didn't enjoy the Mobile Unit nearly as much as the Season 1 and 2 episodes and characters. While Season 1 and 2 are like a 10 for me, the Mobile Unit is like a 5. Maybe a 6. That being said, between Season 3 and 4, I think that Season 4 has better quality episodes overall. Maybe it's just because the episodes are more "fresh" in my mind but I think it helps a lot that 3 of the main characters already have been working together for a season so they have that established dynamic. In addition, there are more villain ensemble episodes that I can remember, and honestly those villain episodes are more fun than the other case episodes I think haha. In addition, it seems like that by season 4, the writers have gotten better writing this version of the show. Mobile Unit is definitely different from the main show of season 1 and 2. Mobile Unit already got rid of the cold open where the agents help a client who is not usually related to the main plot of the episode. In addition, Mobile Unit got rid of the main dynamic of two partners, one scientist, and Ms. O and exchange it for 4 agents and the Big O. And not really the Big O since she isn't really involved. So really just four agents. But the problem is that they don't really have distinct roles in the team. So while the other seasons can focus on the two main agents and sometimes bring in or focus on the scientist and Ms. O, the Mobile Unit episodes have to focus on all four agents and that is hard to juggle in just 11 minute episodes. So overall, I find the Mobile Unit seasons a lot weaker than season 1 and 2, but I find the season 4 episodes stronger overall than season 3 bc the writers have gotten used to writing for this new dynamic/style
Season 3: this is the season where they changed up the format of the show. As I already mentioned, they got rid of the cold open, have four main agents to focus on, and Oprah has a much smaller role in the show. So similar to season 1, they kinda of have a new start and are trying to figure out how to write for this changed show. But on top of that, they tried to introduce science topics into the show in addition to the math ones. And in my opinion, the science lessons weren't very well written and dragged the episodes. For me, those episodes weren't the best. I think that the showrunners realized that because there are no science episodes that I can think of in season 4. So basically, Mobile Unit is almost a new show and thus they are trying to figure out how to write for this new format, which really shows through the quality of the episodes
Okay that was a lot longer than I thought it would be haha (I ramble too much haha). And now to rank the story/mystery arcs. Which is going to be below the cut bc SPOILERS. Don't read if you haven't seen all 4 seasons. I am looking at you guys who I am trying to get to watch season 2- I don't want to have the mystery arc spoiled for you guys! So spoilers ahead!
Season 1: without a doubt the Odd Todd mystery arc is the best of the whole show. All the hints of him through the 43s and brief mentions all leading up to the grand reveal of Odd Todd in Training Day were perfect!! Training Day is a masterpiece within itself as we get to see the return of Todd and the reveal of Olive's past. And throughout the rest of the season (and honestly the show), Odd Todd proves to be a great character and villain. Seriously, no other main season villain ever lived up to Odd Todd. Joshua Kilimnik's portrayal of Odd Todd made him feel like an actual threat to Odd Squad while also have a very peculiar personality that was so fun to watch. And of course, connected with this mystery arc is Olive's and Otto's character arc though it is mainly Olive's. Olive was traumatized from the events with Todd and at first was closed off from Otto. However, she soon learned to trust him not only as a partner but as a friend. I will forever quote Otto from Disorder in the Court, "Olive, we're not just partners. We're friends. Nothing will ever change that." Also all of Trials and Tubulations cement their friendship but that is an essay for another day haha. And then of course all of this is paid off in O Is Not For Over, which is a great finale where Odd Todd is defeated and turns over a new leaf (haha) and Olive and Otto get to run their own Odd Squad. Now if we are going to get picky, I wish that the finale didn't kinda pull the rug under us and reveal that Otto didn't actually turn over the bad side. It would be interesting to see him tunr evil even for a short while. But that is just a minor thing. Basically all of the plot important episodes were very well written and executed and it all paid off in the finale
Season 2: this season's main question of "Who is agent Otis" was kinda a let down for me bc I basically called it from the beginning that Otis was a former villain associated with ducks. And honestly the actual reveal was a letdown for me bc I personally thought that my theory/idea for the season finale was better: Otis was raised by a family of evil ducks but he never wanted to be a villain. However, in the finale, the ducks come back and take Otis away, forcing him to help them carry out their evil scheme but he is reluctant and eventually with the help of the squad they defeated the ducks. But obviously that didn't happen. What really annoys me about the reveal is that everyone calls Otis a villain even though he never really was?? Like he was never evil, and we never see him doing evil crimes for the ducks. So that whole final trial (a poorer version of Disorder In the Court in my opinion) made no sense. Basically, I don't think that the Otis mystery paid off at all bc the hints were obvious (at least to me), and the reveal was very poorly executed at the end. Also the reveal happened at the end of the season. With Season 1, Odd Todd was revealed in the middle of the season, giving the show time to further explore his character in later episodes. If they did the Otis reveal in the middle of the season, then we could have gotten more time to see how that affects Otis and his dynamic with the rest of the squad and especially with Olympia. Instead by leaving the reveal until the very end, all the reactions and the reunion feel rushed and forced. BUT while thinking about ask this morning, I realized that there was a second connected arc that was better executed: the villain break-ins. We see the villains breaking in thoroughout the season, but I personally didn't think much about them. Then in the end, it is revealed that the villain break-ins is connected to the traitor. So good on the show for dropping these hints without me noticing them the first time around haha. However, what was horribly excecuted is the reveal that Ohlm was the traitor and main villain all along. I still think that Ohlm being the main villain was a last minute rewrite and if it wasn't then the show did a horrible job of building that up. Also Ohlm acting as a villain is pretty weak especially compared to Odd Todd. The X's should have been the main villains but I guess they were just red herrings. Basically, I think that the mystery arc of this season wasn't very written and not executed well but at least it had potential. Unlike Mobile Unit...
Season 3: okay in a sense the mystery arc was better established in this season than season 2. We get introduced to the Shadow at the beginning of the season, and we see her throughout the season. But once again I already figured out that she was Opal's sister, so that mystery arc was ruined for me LOL. Also her villain acting is not great (sorry guys you are nowhere near Odd Todd's level haha). Like all of the other main season villains, she wants to destroy Odd Squad but I found her reasoning for turning evil to be the weakest of all 3 of them. She decided to turn evil just because of her sister?? And on top of that, I found the finale was weak. She changes her tune way too fast in my opinion. At least with Ohlm, he still wanted to destroy Odd Squad despite being saved by the main four. Basically, I personally didn't like the story arc of this season and didn't think it paid off well. The Shadow being almost immediately forgiven does not feel deserved.
Season 4: what season arc was there??? something about the thing that Golden sundial?? It was mentioned in the first episode of the season and like never mentioned again until the end of the season. On top of that they never even established the main villain, Olando (I honestly forgot most of this season's arc and even this guy's name, I had to look it up lol), and he wasn't even really a villain in the first place! They had him go rogue for like an episode (turning for a really weak reason that I can't even remember now- he didn't want to work in a team??) and then try to repent like 15 minutes later. They could at least make him a full on villain like the past seasons' villains, and it would have made this season's story arc so much more interesting. And on top of that, they resolved the final conflict way too fast. There was no build up and they traveled back in time to talk to Ms. O and Oscar (please don't get me started on how horrible this scene was haha). And then when they defeated the problem (me using vague terms bc I barely remember what the actual problem was LOL), Orlando just walks off?? Without suffering any consequences?? This season's story arc (or really lack of one) was just BAD. And such a sad way to end the series. Oh and one more thing: yes Oswald let's name every single past main odd squad agent and then travel back in time to visit them (the way that line was written and executed annoys me so much ahhhh). Anyway, yes season 4 had the weakest story arc out of all of them Wow that was a lot. Thank you for reading all of that if you've made it this far. I honestly rambled a lot, and I'm not sure if half the things I wrote even made sense (I'm not rereading this LOL). Anyway thanks for the ask! And I would love to know how you would rank the seasons! Ask me anything about Odd Squad!

what is with men being mad any time a woman raises her voice where did that even come from. someone posted a video of a small electrical explosion, and the top comment was of course the woman screams. the second comment is women try not to scream challenge, level impossible. i had to go back and watch the video again. there is, somewhat fainty, a little gasp emitted off-camera, more of a yelp than a scream. it is mostly lost in the crack of the explosion. afterwards, you hear her voice, shaken, say, are you okay?
i am helping one of my friends train her voice pitch lower, because she wants to be taken seriously at work. she and i do each other's nails and talk about gender roles; and how - due to our appearance - neither of us have ever been able to be "hysterical" in public. we both appear young and sweet and feminine. she is cisgender, and cannot use her natural voice in her profession because people keep saying she appears to be "vapid". we both try to figure out if our purposeful voice lowering is technically sexist. is it promoting something when you are a victim to it?
a storm almost sends a pole through a car window. in the dashcam, you can hear the woman passenger say her partner's name twice, crying out in alarm. she sounds terrified. in the comments, she is lambasted for her lack of calm. how is that even fucking helping?
in high school, i taught myself to have a lower voice. i had been recorded when i was genuinely (and righteously) upset; and i hated how my voice sounded on the phone speakers when it was played back. i was defending my mom, and my voice cracked with emotion. it meant i was no longer winning the argument: i was just shrieking about it.
girls meet each other after a long summer and let out a little joyful scream. this usually stops around 12-14, because people will not tolerate this display of affection (as it has the effect of being passingly annoying). something about the fact that little girls can't ever even be annoying. we are trained to examine each part of our lives (even joy) for anything that could make us upsetting and disgusting. they act like teenage girls are breaking into houses and shrieking you awake at 3 in the morning. speaking as a public school educator: trust me, it's not that bad, you can just roll your eyes and move on. it does not compare to the ways boys end up being annoying: slurs in graffiti, purposefully mocking your body, following you after you said no. you know, just boy things.
there's another video of a man who is not allowed to yell in the house, so he snaps his fingers when he's excited about soccer. the comments are full of angry men, talking about how their brother is unfairly caged. let him express himself and this is terrible to do to someone. eventually the couple has to address it in a second video: they are married with a newborn baby. he was trying not to wake the infant up. there is no comment on the fact women are not allowed to yell indoors. or the fact that it could have been really alarming or triggering for his wife. sometimes i wonder if straight men even like women, if they even enjoy being in relationships with them.
for the longest time, i hated roller coasters because it always felt inappropriate and uncomfortable for me to scream. one of my friends called me on it, said it was unusual i'm so unwilling. i had to go to my therapist about it. i don't like to scream because i was not raised in a safe situation, and raising my voice would have brought unsafe attention towards me. even when i am supposed to scream, it feels shameful, guilty. i was not treated kindly, so i lack a basic form of self-protection. this is not a natural response. it is not good that in a situation of high adrenaline - i shut up about it.
something very bad is happening, i think. in between all the beauty standards and the stuff i've already discussed - this one feels new and cruel in a way i can't quite express. yes, it's scary and silencing. but there's something about how direct it is - that so many men agree with the sentiment that women should never yell, even in an emergency - it feels different.
is the word shriek gendered automatically? how about shrill or screech? in self defense class, one of the first things they tell you is to yell, as loud and as shrilly as you can. they say it will feel rude. most women will not do this. you need to practice overcoming the social pressure and just scream.
most women do not cry out, even when it's bad. we do not report it. we walk faster. we do not make a scene. what would be the point of doing anything else? no matter what we do, we don't get taken seriously. it is a joke to them. an instagram caption punchline. we have to present ourselves as silent, beautiful, captivating - "valuable."
a woman is outside watching her kids when someone throws a firecracker at them. she screams and runs towards her children. in the comments, grown men flock together in the thousands: god. women are so annoying.

Hey guys, so sorry for the lack of content this month. Honestly I didn't even touch my computer this month to practice, learn or even watch the making of custom content. After my sister's wedding (which was wonderful) my health took a turn and I've been stuck in a flare up for several weeks now. On top of that I got whatever flu is going around and my sinuses are so swollen that my eyes and teeth are aching.
All that being said I'm hoping that as I start to feel better I will get back to making content. I know that I kinda has creative ADHD and have to change up the kind of stuff I'm making to stay interested, so I am debating putting up some downloadable art like coloring pages on patreon to fill in the gaps.
I recently (before getting ill...er) began making some drastic custom breyer stablemates. A friend of mine wrote a cute story about a horse and then I wrote a short story about a horse and now I've got a whole cast of ponies that I want models of.
Would y'all be interested in any of that? The models are kinda ugly ngl but there's a first time for everything. I can tell I definitely am a tactical sculptor and not so much a digital one, but I'm hoping this endeavor will help me to understand form more to translate that to Sims content. Idk.
Sorry for the long update and probably even longer hiatus. I gotta get back to being a functional human before I can get back to fun stuff unfortunately.
Thanks for your continued patience.
Also have you seen there is gonna be a new horse game called Canter Crossing and another one called Fernhoof Grove? Rattle just showcased them on their channel and they look cuuuuute.
Okay sorry, bye
