Everybody be flipping out over Darcy with a Scythe, the robot Andrias uses, Super Saiy-anne, and New Frobo. But can we pay attention to this screenshot for a tick?

Seems familiar, no? Because that arm design probably signifies that Cloak-Bot is coming back- or at least another model of Cloaky Boy(?)

Dark Marcy : Really...

Dark Marcy : And yet, here you are. You had a chance to continue your life back on your puny little world, leave everyone behind. The host gave you that chance when she activated the portal. But you didn’t. You came back here. All for your "best friend"?

Anne : I had to get the Plantars back here. But that doesn't--

Dark Marcy : So it's all for those little frogs you call family. Pathetic. It's a shame, really. Your "best friend" feels the same way about you.

Anne : What are you--

Dark Marcy : Do you know how many times she screamed your name, begging to be saved? You mean something to the host. And not in the way you think she does.

Anne : ...What...?

Dark Marcy : You're the reason why she cannot be fully controlled. You need to disappear. And what better way to do that, than to have the very person that loves you the most do it for me.

*temporarily switches the control to Marcy*

Marcy : *crying* Anne! Anne!!

Anne : Marcy!

Marcy : You need to leave now! Stay away from me! Or I'll--

Anne : No, Marcy. I'm going to save you! Just like I always do back home. I promise, Marcy! I won't leave you alone!

Does the Night have life-extending powers?

To no one’s surprise, this is a post inspired by Marcy and whatever the hell is happening to her in the Season 3 intro. That said, I don’t think she’s the only beneficiary of lifespan extending-magic, nor is she the first — because after all, Andrias is over one thousand years old. 

You could argue that IRL giant salamanders do live a long time for amphibians, but Andrias is older than society’s collective memory and essentially all of Amphibia’s publicly available written history. It’s implied that he’s the only person still alive to remember Newtopia’s “great” past, and that’s just too ridiculous to be natural. 

Now, Andrias summons a glowing shield out of nowhere to defend himself from Super Saiy-Anne, and said shield is orange and black, just like the “Night”/basement monster’s color scheme. It also basically disintegrates into thin air once Anne shatters it, which is another point in favor of it being some form of magic, not a robust physical object.

Basically, I think that Andrias has a pact with the Night, where in exchange for his servitude, it keeps him from dying of old age and lets him draw upon its power for occasional magic tricks like that shield. Kind of like a warlock’s patron in Dungeons & Dragons Creatures & Caverns. 

Andrias seems very familiar with the Calamity powers, and how once the gems are charged, the powers are supposed to be disconnected from their wielders forever. He instantly recognizes what’s going on with Anne and the Heart gem, but he’s also blindsided by it, having truly believed her powers were locked away.

So perhaps, Andrias once held one of the gem powers, believed he lost it when the box was stolen while charged, and arranged his pact with the Night to try and regain a fraction of that power? That would make an eerie parallel to Marcy, who was also drained of her Wit power, and is now hooked up to the Night and presumably being kept alive by it...

Hopefully, our poor artificer/rogue won’t be too traumatized if she’s forced to multiclass as a warlock with the Big Bad as her patron.

Miscellaneous comments regarding ‘Escape to Amphibia’ that would be too short to be a post on its own: 

1) Like mother, like daughter in regards to driving. Such concentration. I find it very adorable.

2) @borkthemork​ was right. This scene was totally hilarious. I had to pause the video and laugh for a few minutes before continuing on.

3)  And of course the other human characters that were introduced so far are the "backup". I'm surprised that Molly Jo and Humphrey were invited, though. Also, why those Thai aunt ladies specifically?

4) I only know about this joke on Tomotasauce’s Amphibia Abridged Series, so to see it actually be a joke on the canon show too is so surreal. 

5) I wondered why they had to wear suits since they're so distinguishable it doesn't matter. But nope. Reasoning be damned. All of them in black suits are damn awesome! Most especially Anne. She evoked such a masculine presence, I fucking love it.

6)  Anne is doing the planning again. And it failed. Again. A tiny throwback to 'True Colors' (I consider that one a "failure" because she trusted King Andrias). At this point, the events of ‘Commander Anne’ is already being foreshadowed. Third time’s the charm, maybe? But the synopsis already said that Anne “isn’t good at the job”. Hmm...
