I'm here reflecting how every time there is a goofy super-hero movie that doesn't take itself seriously it is described as faithful to the material, but every time it's super serious, it's ashamed of the material (Unless it's Batman) and that notion is just baffling to me because super-heroes are drama queens in tights, masks and capes.
Like, dude, there is this issue from Superman drawn by Curt Swan where Batman and Superman work together and Batman leaves and Superman starts thinking how lonely he is, he even goes to therapy or Second Genesis X-Men, Storm is fighting Jean Grey (who is a robot but she doesn't know) and she is like "How could you after all the time we spent together and confessions we've shared?!"
Few comic book movies understand how dramatic and chaotic super-heroes can be, those who do, doesn't carry a single ounce of irony or interrupt a dramatic moment for a joke. They just deeply believe in the story they are telling and are not asking you to feel less simply because you've seen the scenario a bunch of times before.

I made some bug super hero action figures
Tumblr media
They are real bugs encased in resin (no insects were harmed—they were already dead when I found them)
Tumblr media
Ant- similar to Ant-Man but obviously not a man, just ant
Tumblr media
All the standard ant powers
Tumblr media
This is based on The Human Fly (but not human, just fruit fly)
Tumblr media
I personally love it when they use the third power to get caught in my blink
(btw I left an Ant figure on a miniature peg board at my local Target)

The Evolution of Style in 3D Film
Tumblr media
I wanted to show how much theatrical animation has changed in the last few years. Incorporating 2D elements has always been attempted but was rare and went unnoticed. That’s not the case anymore with more adopting it, anime too!

The more I think about it, the Petrellis would weird the Winchesters out. Not only the brothers with their public displays of affection but also the parents.
Like, in spn Mary made a deal to save her John's life while in Heroes Angela killed her husband (well deserved).
In spn John sold his soul to save Dean's life while in Heroes Arthur kept trying to kill Nathan.
In SPN the enemies were external entities like angels and demons who tried to manipulate Sam and Dean to destroy each other while in Heroes Peter and Nathan were manipulated by their parents (mostly Angela tbh).

I kept thinking of little baby man Phantom and the potential of Danny being an actual baby of the Infinite Realms. However, he’s more snake teenager than itty bitty Little Baby Man edition, cause I think it’d be so funny to just — imagine this teenage snake curled up in a summoning circle, obviously having been taking a nap and looking up with his big green, sleepy eyes and Constantine just stares and freaks because, “THATS A WHOLE ASS BABY, PUT IT BACK!”
But they can’t because apparently the summoning was more of a ‘knock knock I’m a babysitter’ and Danny’s ghost parent decided that this was the perfect time to have some time for themselves if Heroes were so willing to take care of Danny for a little while.
Another take — mainly in reference to a different post about Klarion actually just being a toddler of the infinite realms with no ideas on how to human and thinks him fighting with heroes is just a play date — zooms into the human realm where the heroes are and just goes, “Hey I’m dropping my baby sibling onto you guys cause my dad got mad last time Danny got hurt by the humans I hang with. So here you go, I’ll pick him up later.”
A teenage snake Danny is dropped into a hero’s arms where he mainly grumbles and then shifts to better take a nap. Klarion drops the baby essentials at them with no further explanations other then “here’s their favorite blanket, if they get fussy taco them; here’s the baby milk make sure it’s -200 F, they have an ice core, etc.” and then just DISAPPEARS after leaving what amounts to a month old infant in human heroes care.

Young Justice is always a little...concerned. With Phantom's living situation. Now they're outright afraid for him, and Bart has decided it's time to Ask An Adult.
It was the little quips. The tiny little things. Stuff that didn't seem to matter to Phantom at all, or appeared to be normal for him, that he didn't realize weren't normal at all.
"Oh, better not hope my mom catches me." "Doing what, staying out past bedtime?" "Nah, using my powers; she'd vivisect me!"
"Another stab wound. Great." "Don't worry Phantom, I've got the med kit-" "Oh, I'm not a baby or anything, I can handle it just fine. Just gimme a sec to take it out."
"My dad has better aim than that." "...Like, when he's hunting, right?" "...At what other times would he be shooting at me?"
"Huh. Not as bad as my parents place. Look; they have a decontamination shower!" "Phantom, this lab has been vandalized to the point of needing a hazmat suit." "Did I stutter?"
Finding out each others identities did nothing to soothe the worry. Tim quietly told the others that every time he tried to run facial recognition, he kept hitting a government firewall he couldn't breach. Phantom never told them his last name, just his first, and 'Danny' is super common.
The thing that really did it though, the thing that made Bart snap and run off to ask Max, was when Danny had a nightmare.
He was talking in his sleep.
"No. Don't-stop. Stoooop. I need...my skin. Mom, no. You can't...peel off...my skin..."
Bart didn't even wait for them to wake Danny up before he was standing in front of Max, talking a mile a minute as he tried to figure out what to do, with Wally staring in horror over a plate of waffles as he computed everything that Bart was saying.
~~~~~~
Danny had a dream about his mom and Skulker arguing about how to skin him. He wouldn't really call it a nightmare, because it was just Skulker, but the scariest thing was Skulker insisting to his mom that it was possible to skin him with a potato peeler. Dream mom was arguing that it was not, and that from a scientific standpoint that was a really piss poor way to preserve a specimen.
He hadn't been begging them to stop hurting him, he'd been whining at them to knock it off.
But when he wakes up, it's to a room full of worried friends and an old man who calls himself Max.
"Kid, I think we need to talk."
