“On Wednesday afternoon the news came that the Grand Prix was cancelled and then Max himself came up with the idea of organizing a sim race, so that there is still something to experience for the fans this weekend, but also to draw attention to what is happening in Emilia-Romagna and to support the people affected by the storm. "So this really happens on Max's initiative," Atze Kerkhof of Team Redline told Motorsport.com. “Max will of course participate and there will be quite a few members of the Red Bull Junior Team with Enzo Fittipaldi, Ayumu Iwasa, Arvid Lindblad, Jak Crawford and Isack Hadjar. There will also be drivers from Formula E, including Antonio Felix da Costa and Oliver Rowland. Three-time Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen and Luke Browning have also agreed to participate.”

F2 driver Richard Verschoor, Aston Martin reserve Felipe Drugovich and Alpine reserve Jack Doohan have also been confirmed via Twitter. A grid of twenty-five to thirty drivers is targeted. Kerkhof himself will also participate, just like a few other riders from the Team Redline stable. “But also Sebastian Job, who is part of the Red Bull Racing Esports team. So it will be a nice mix of professional sim drivers and names that normally come out on the track.”

Just like the previous races that were held under the name Real Racers Never Quit, they will be driven on iRacing. “We will be running four races in a row at the Imola circuit, with four different cars,” Kerkhof explains the format of Sunday's event. “We are doing a race with a Formula 3, a race with a Formula Ford, a race with a Mazda MX-5 and a race with a Toyota GR86. Max chose these cars because they are not too difficult to master in the game, are fun to drive and can make for entertaining races for the viewers. We could also have gone for a Formula 1 or GT3, but then you will spend a lot more time getting to know the game version of the car and it might also be less competitive in the races. But because we want to have races that are fun to watch first and foremost, Max picked these four.”

As mentioned earlier, Verstappen wants to raise money with the sim race for the victims of the storm in Emilia-Romagna. “We will support the same action as AlphaTauri,” explains Kerkhof. “As you know that team is based in Faenza and that place has also been hit hard. We will show a link and QR code in the stream that can be used to donate money to the emergency fund. We will encourage anyone watching to make a donation."

Setting up a major sim racing event this hastily is no easy feat. Kerkhof: “Verstappen.com Racing and Team Redline have worked together to get this event off the ground. And Verstappen.com Racing is in turn supported by Red Bull, which has helped to gather some of these drivers. Max Verstappen heaped praise on Shane van Gisbergen after the Australian Supercars champion won his first start in NASCAR last weekend. Verstappen described how he stayed up on Sunday evening following his victory in the Austrian Grand Prix to watch his friend and fellow Team Redline driver become the first person in 60 years to win on their debut in NASCAR.

"I stayed awake to watch it, I've never felt so nervous in my life watching someone else race and trying to win it. I was literally screaming in front of the TV or like my monitor for him to win. That's really, really impressive to jump in a car you don't know. They're very hard cars to drive and he just goes in there and he absolutely dominates the race. I know he's a great driver, I know what he's capable of and I know how good he is at different kind of disciplines. I mean, he's great of course at V8s, that's what he knows, but he's great in a rally car as well and clearly he's great in a NASCAR as well. That's Shane. He's a crazy right-foot braker still. [NASCAR] is not my style. I like watching, I think it's really, really cool and I was happy for Shane. I'm happy to maybe go there and just have a beer myself and enjoy the show."

six sentence sunday

so even though I have 203 wips, I signed up for kinktober on FighterTown. Only a 100 words, sure I can write something short... but then I was given prostitution as my prompt. Listen, I know all the fucked up parts of sex work, the power dynamic is fucked, even in places where it's legal... that said, but I'm also a gremlin fic reader, so I just had to write a Pretty Woman AU for IceMav.

The window slowly went down, the driver was leaning across the front interior to pump the handle. Incredible. The car was probably one of the most expensive to ever be produced but it apparently lacked power windows. “Hey-”

Ice pasted a smile on his face, and leaned down at the stranger’s call, letting his shirt billow open for the driver to see his whole chest down to the dark furrow of hair at his belt buckle. “Hello,” he purred back, peering into the low set sport scar. He had expected the driver to be someone recognizably famous or someone old with money, but neither turned out to be true. 

He was around the same age, or slightly younger to Ice’s eye, with dark messy hair and sparkling green eyes. The smile he shot at Ice was crooked, and there was the faintest bump that spoke of an old healed nose fracture. Those mild imperfections  only highlighted the perfect symmetry of his cheekbones and the white-flash of his grin. In one word, though, he was gorgeous.

When Ice had first started in this type of work, he had to learn to separate his desire for men from the act, because beggars could not be choosers when it came to johns, literally. It was a job, and most people did not enjoy their jobs, broadly speaking. Of course, he had to push down the recent memory of being in the Navy, because god dammit he had loved what he did back then, even if he didn’t love the rules that had governed his behavior. Still. That life was over, and now he was used to turning a blind eye to soft white middle-aged bellies, and hairy backs, ignoring the bad breath and then imperfect skin. It was a job, he reminded himself, and not every job was pleasant.

This guy on the other hand- he was the furthest thing from what Ice had conditioned himself to accept. With one look, an old, neglected part of Ice perked up, something he belatedly recognized as genuine attraction. The stranger was dangerous.

“I was hoping you could help me-”

Ice lifted one eyebrow at the stranger, “I’m at your….service.” For once it didn’t feel like a line.

“So I’m lost,” the stranger explained with a boyish grin, gesturing around the dim neighborhood. Ice lifted his eyebrow a little higher at him because that had been a line offered a time or two from a nervous first-timer. “I’m trying to find the La Abber-barrage? Or maybe it’s aubergine? That’s a color, right?”

He had to wince at the poor pronunciation, the stranger clearly did not know French any more than he knew how to drive a manual shift supercar. “Do you mean the L’Auberge? The hotel?”

“Shit, that’s it! How do you say it again?”

“L’Auberge,” He repeated slowly, the years of studying French and his air carrier duty near the old colonial holdings in the South Pacific came back with ease. “It’s not a color, it means hotel or inn in French. You’re very lost then,” The handsome man waited for an explanation, looking adorably befuddled by the information, until Ice continued, “You’re in San Diego now. You’re trying to find the L’Auberge Del Mar, which is in… Del Mar.”

Formula 2 race winner Jack Doohan will drive a Supercar at Calder Park ahead of next weekend’s Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.

The Australian will travel home later this week after securing a podium in Sunday’s Feature race in Saudi Arabia.

He’ll first head to Queensland, accompanied by Mercedes F1 reserve driver Mick Schumacher, before venturing south.

“I have commitments with Alpine that I have to contribute to in Paris following next week for some marketing events,” he said when asked about his Albert Park prep by Speedcafe.

“I’ll get home on Saturday morning.

“Mick [Schumacher] is also flying back with me, so he’s going to come in and stay for a few days.

“I want to get him out to Norwell as well and then I’ll fly down on Tuesday evening to Melbourne.

“I have another commitment on Wednesday, I think I’m driving V8 Supercar around Calder Park.

“And then, yeah, getting stuck into the race weekend.”

I just saw that you were at the Aus GP! How was it for you?!

how was it for me!!!! it was top 5 weekends of my life!!! which is saying something bc I've been lucky enough to do some incredible things in my 26 years!!!

some highlights, in no particular order:

Max DNFing - big sorry to Max, but the crowd went a little crazy. to be fair to us all, we had no idea how serious it actually was. ily Max, but I fully expected to see a Max win and then not getting that was so shocking that it was fun. we were right by turn 13 + 14 so could also see the pit entry, and I do have footage of his car smoking and going in to the pit soooo

Hamilton DNFing - we didn't see this happen in front of our eyes like Max, HOWEVER, because of where we were sitting, his recovery bike drove straight past us to go into the paddock, so I can now say that I've been within two metres of seven time world champion Lewis Hamilton. he was quite small lol

fan stage appearances! I went on day 2 so saw ferrari, red bull, and Mercedes back to back!!!! it was nuts. Charles and Carlos by far had the best camaraderie, and Max was more engaged than you'd expect from somebody who still clearly didn't want to be there haha. Lewis and George were lovely, they were the only ones who didn't sit on the lounge and instead stood the whole time, and specifically said it was so people at the back could see them. I also saw Haas (Nico didn't show up though?) and Kmag was quite sweet. Also saw Alpine, and Pierre showed up late and then didn't answer a single question lmao.

this will mean less to people, but all the support series were so great as well. we had f3, f2, supercars, and the porsche carreras, and all of those races were way more intense than f1. during the f2 sprint race on Saturday, we also saw Antonelli and Verschoor crash right in front of us, and Verschoor came through the same path as Lewis did on Sunday, so we got to see him walk past, helmet in hand, all sad and dejected.

anyway I'll stop there otherwise this list will turn into a "everything that happened" list rather than a highlights reel haha. so I'll leave you with a photo of my new prized possession!

(yes that really is CHARLES LECLERC'S signature, but no I didn't obtain it in person)

Something I’ve been working on a while, and want to share with the fans of the various Supermarionation shows!

I’ve been compiling a collection of all the comics for the Supermarionation shows (and comic-only ‘series’ of originals like Agent 21) in my gDrive with the intent of sharing it with the fanbase

And I’ve currently got it as complete as I currently can!

So now comes the time to share it!! ^_^

The TV Century 21 -> TV21 -> TV21 & Joe 90 comics run is 100% complete       This is one of, if not the, most popular run of comics in the Anderverse fandom, so I’m really glad to have all the issues present!       The Action 21, Century 21 and Thunderbirds are Go, which were reprints of the TV21, are all 100% complete as well.

Lady Penelope’s stand alone comic magazine is incomplete.  I have the first 2/3rds of it, but I’m missing the final third.

The Solo comics ‘Mark of the Mysterons’ (issues19-31) is incomplete, missing 3 issues

TV Tornado’s ‘The Mysterons’ (issues 36-58) is complete

TV21 & Joe90: New Series is complete

Countdown is complete

Supermarionation is Go! (no comic issues but lots of fun behind the scenes info) is complete

Fleetway’s New Stingray (Volume 1 & Volume 2) is complete

Funday Times (issues 110-273) is incomplete, I’ve got about half of the issues

Fleetway’s New Thunderbirds is complete

Fleetway’s Captain Scarlet is complete

I have no scans for the Sunday Comics (issues 214-290) Captain Scarlet run

I have issues 1-89 of the Redan Thunderbirds comics, but I thiiiiiiiink there’s more issues?  Maybe?  I’m honestly not sure ^^;;

are you going to the Melbourne race too? It’s my first year going so do you have any tips?

yes I am!!! if I don’t get to see fernando’s 5 foot nothing ass on the podium i’m going to throw eggs

tips:

1. we know this because we’re both (presumably) aussie but sunscreen sunscreen sunscreen!!!!! there’s little to no shade around albert park and you will be in direct UV rays basically all day. bring it with you and make sure you reapply because if you get burnt on the friday you’re going to feel like shit on sunday

2. hydrateeeeee. bring a double walled bottle if you can to keep it cold. there are a few stations around that will let you fill it up again but there’s always a huge line so the more water you can bring in with you the better. 600ml bottles from the food trucks will set you back like $6 🤢

3. bring snacks! food is pretty expensive and also the lines are really ridiculously long so it’s not feasible to keep buying things every time you’re hungry

4. also on food, you can leave the park at any point and come back in. if you don’t want to wait for the food trucks you can leave to go to one of the cafes near by for lunch. that’s what I did last year while the supercars were on, but this year because I want to watch f2 I don’t think this will be feasible anymore :(

5. if you want merch get it as early in the weekend as you can, because by sunday there will only be the ugly shit left in random sizes. alternatively they have merch tents set up at southern cross station and down southbank in front of crown. be prepared for a cap to set you back $70

6. speaking of crown……… if you want to glimpse some drivers then southbank on wed/thurs night is the place to be. don’t stalk them or cry or tell them you love them because that’s kind of weird and embarrassing.

7. if you want to meet the drivers at the track you’ll need to head to the melbourne walk which is where they pass through every day to get in and out. friday is the best day for this because there are less people attending

8. public transport to and from is going to take FOREVER but last year it seems everyone collectively forgot about uber because we got there so quick with no surcharge. definitely check this option before sardining onto a tram

9. after the race is done they will let you onto the track. if you’re close to pit straight you can climb through the fence break and crowd around the podium. if you want to do this I would suggest getting to the fence break a couple of laps before the end of the race so you’re as close as possible. this is how close I got last year

There's something about this really cool and you know what it is it's on a Volkswagen chassis now the other Volkswagens are not considered to be that old or run down or simple it kind of like sporty and the engines are faster and his son is correct and Sunday for real he's thinking you know the Volkswagens already kind of sporty and you can change your little goes fast into a Porsche and we can make a kit for that and someone should and his son wants to and he says he wants you to work with me on this and he says that's great his first car you got it from the carnival so if you have something you want to incorporate it's kind of smiling and since I know what it is he had a special horn that made a weird noise and supercars do that and yeah there's a secret. I did notice that the seats are different they're a little too high up but it makes a big difference. The paint job makes a difference it's not even a supercar color the tires and rims a little bit odd but the rims are much cooler and you can see if you change the body style a little it would work and that's what we want to do we want to do it because it's awesome and the concept is awesome but the car is going to be different than we use so we're going to post that

“This weekend we headed down to Melbourne for the 2024 Rolex Australia Grand Prix here in Melbourne we had so much fun getting down there on Thursday watching the Supercars practise. On Friday it was practise day for the f1 so we watched fp1 on the third last corner and fp2 in the same spot we also watched the super cars qualifying and f3 practise and f2. Saturday morning it was very exiting we watched fp3 from the bean bags then headed to the third last corner to watch qualifying with Sam dartell Saturday was a very fun day hanging out with @.samdartell and @.luke.powell35 and we checked out the f3 f2 and Supercars paddock in the afternoon. On Sunday it was race day and in the morning I was hanging out with @.tommyrizk_88 watching @.christian.mansell in the f3 and then we watched f2 from the big screen and Same and Supercars then we headed to the corner for the Grand Prix it was such a incredible race for the Scuderia Ferrari and it was devastating for me as a Hamilton fan to see him dnf but it was still a great race to watch overall. we also got a lot of signatures and the Melbourne walk on Friday and Saturday.Thank you to my dad @.ngotch_66 for bringing me down here and @.lilykell_ for a great time.Go check out my Facebook for more photos.
