Me: I saw someone argue that Daredevil should always be a canon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles character. That means TMNT is Marvel, and it takes place in New York which means- My Brain: -that April O'Neil probably works at the Daily Bugle with a kid named Peter Parker Me: Goddammit brain you've done it again

i know i've posted before about how against the idea of women (because marvel's full of cowards and doesn't want to have that conversation) telepaths being romantically/sexually attracted to scott summers i have been.
and while I know the actual intent behind this pattern on marvel's end and still disagree with that for obvious reasons, ...
In a vacuum? It makes sense.
Most xmen characters express what they're about on the surface, and there aren't too many layers hidden underneath. I can imagine telepaths in the world of marvel getting quickly bored by the people in that world not having anything more to offer than what's out front. Then you have a character like scott, who is designed to be deeply introspective anti-surface-read. A character the audience only gets the full picture of (/learns to appreciate) if the medium allows that glimpse into what's going on below the carefully controlled outer shell. That must be fascinating for a telepath (especially in marvel where you don't have many characters strictly adhering to this design). Not only that, it would take a telepath, or someone who is privy to what's going on below the surface (like, a non-telepath who is trusted enough for scott to open up to) to appreciate the full breadth of this character. So of COURSE the ones who react positively to the idea of scott summers would be those who know there's a lot of unseen shit going on there. It makes sense.

Okay but I just want to say that I am so grateful that even though Flash aka Ball of Sunshine aka Wally West is written as everybody's friend was not just universally liked by all of his League colleagues just like that but he had to gradually build friendships with them. Wonder Woman was never a patient and calm character in JL(U) and since she did not understand Man's World, she was bound to be surprised by Wally's attitude (remember when he tried to flirt with her? lol). They grew to appreciate and like one another, their friendship is one of a kind and I love it.
What are you getting when you have a prideful warrior Princess and a goofy speedster? This and this is wonderful ❤️

The fun part about writing trans superheroes is that, technically, you don't have to give them deadnames.

Day 42 of posting every page of my sketch book:
This page... So, I started doing something, gave up and started doing something else, and then gave up on that. So yeah, not much on here... Just this and a few urges from the future page.

if you were a super villain, what would be your aesthetic and methods be?
Now that's an interesting thought... I grew up on shows like the 1994 Spider-Man and Power Rangers (as well as more... esoteric heroes like Freakazoid and The Tick), so my fantasies growing up were always about heroes. Always wanted to be a superhero so I could save a lot of people~
Really, I think it depends on the powerset. Give me, like, electricity powers, and I'd want to find a way to use it to provide cheap energy for people. But something like telekinesis... I'd either want to keep that secret and use it to mess with folks, or just be lazy with it. Y'know, why walk ten feet to pick up a book or can of soda when you can just gesture and pull it into your hand~? Always plainclothes, though. Coz, like, why not be comfortable (not to mention practical) in your superheroing or villaining? And I assure you, nobody wants to see me in spandex~
In all honesty, I'm not the self-actualising type, though. I'm much more likely to be a minion for an established villain than strike out on my own~

if i had a nickel for every time I latched on to a superhero named scott who suffered torture and gaslighting as a child at the hands of a parental figure who was actually a chewing-the-scenery mastermind supervillain, I’d have 2 nickels. Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird it happened twice.

Sorry for the prolonged hiatus, but we here on the Spider-Team have been kind of…busy over the past year, and not just with college stuff. Let’s just say our superhero careers just went into the big leagues and leave it at that.— Lucky
Translation: we managed to stumble our way into Avengers membership and spent half our time racking up frequent flyer miles in pursuit of “real” supervillains (and the other half trying to keep up with our schoolwork). Also, for any other Spiders and/or support staff out there who managed to get Avengers membership cards, does your version of Thor speak like he’s running the entire Shakespearean canon through a wood chipper?— Gwen (yeah, the four of us are still a package deal)
(OOC: seeing as how things in the Spider’s Web scene seem to be taking an interesting turn, I’m interested in getting involved again. Also, for what it’s worth, in the time since my exit from the Spider’s Web server back in December 2021, I’ve not only been more diligent in maintaining proper netiquette, but also managed to get an admin position on a different server and thus have taken to holding myself to a higher standard than in the past.)
