I'm sorry to say it but it is the truth: Darcy/Doom crackfics from 2013 when Darcy was the fandom designated self insert and avengers movie was a gateway to actual comic books did irreparable damage to my fanfiction engine. The premise of pairing an absolute rando with DOOM and then worldbuilding about it like if beauty and the beast had geopolitics was entrancing.

obviously the Historical Figure Episode(TM) of Doctor Who that I’d write would of the Noted Author subset endemic to the RTD Era; it’d be called “Spiders in the Trenches” and be set in the middle of World War One ft. one Lt. John Tolkien.
idk if the main aliens are spiders or if they're just using giant robotic spiders as soldier-minions. Either way, Tolkien is a little too defensive when he says he's not afraid of spiders.
The alien invaders want some sort of shiny mcguffin, maybe as a power source for their ship? Or for a mega-weapon? We do not want them to get it, at any rate. Race to find the Shiny Power Jewel-Thing which has been lost somewhere in this like 20-mile radius of the Western Front.
When our heroes narrowly beat the spiders to the SPJT, Tolkien realizes that the spiders only ever attack at night because light hurts them somehow, so he holds the SPJT up as it flares and shouts, "Get back, foul creatures! Back into the shadows from whence you came!"
(They're from the dark side of a tidally locked planet, and made for extremely low-light conditions? The SPJT flares because it's controlled telepathically and it connected to Tolkien's mind when he touched it?)
Ideally Tolkien's first encounter with the Doctor is that he wakes up in the trench one day (after losing some men to a mysterious monster in the darkness a couple nights ago?), and there's 2 random strangers in weird clothes idly singing and playing an instrument which they stole from someone a couple bedrolls down. (This works well with Fifteen & Ruby's established inclination to music!)
We do need an Eowyn Moment, because that's iconic, but I'd split it: for dialogue, at one point the head boss evil alien boasts, "No human can defeat the Tenebrarachnid Empire!" and the Doctor replies, "Good thing they've got me, then."...
[I don't know if this is a Fifteen line yet. I know it's a very Eleven line]
...and there's a soldier in Tolkien's unit who is revealed to be secretly a woman! Who disguised herself as a man in order to enlist for ??? reasons, and who dramatically pulls off her hat to reveal her long hair.
The third notable local character is the sort who inspired Sam Gamgee, "...the English soldier, [like] the privates and batmen I knew in the 1914 war, and recognized as so far superior to myself.”
^those two can have a romantic subplot if it fits (comrades-in-arms is also extremely good). Tolkien, however, at some point shows Ruby the picture of his wife Edith which he carries at all times, she of the black hair and bright grey eyes, and is obviously ready to monologue about how wonderful she is.
In the same scene(?), Tolkien looks up at the stars and says their brightness shining afar, clear of all the horrors on the ground, is always a source of hope and strength to him.
Maybe also in the same scene? Tolkien is shown to make up stories for fun, or to read them in his little spare time - fairy tales and mythological epics. Maybe he tells them to the men around the fire, maybe he keeps a little notebook, maybe he just admits to daydreaming... When asked why, he paraphrases his quote from later life, " Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory. If a soldier is imprisoned by the enemy, don't we consider it his duty to escape?"
At some point (Star-watching scene? when the Doctor inevitably has to explain that aliens exist? when they're all saying goodbye in the end?) there's a line drawing attention to the Doctor's parallels with Eärendil - eternally wandering figure of hope, sailing the stars in a ship with a light on top, not quite mortal...
Tolkien DEFINITELY tries to figure out the alien language, in writing or speech.
Something the aliens are doing is making people sick. Maybe the attacking robo-spiders are venomous, maybe there's a toxic byproduct of the alien ship, maybe it's a deliberate first assault of the planned invasion... By the end of the episode, Tolkien is very ill. The Doctor has figured out an antidote and given it, but Tolkien says goodbye to him and Ruby only to stumble to a medical outpost - from where, the Doctor explains to Ruby, he'll be sent home with this bad case of what's assumed to be trench fever. Between the fever and the brief psychic entanglement, and unentanglement, with the SPJT, he won't even remember most of this, and what he does remember, he'll put down to fever dreams amidst the horrors of war.
But he'll remember some things! He'll remember an eternal wanderer of the stars, unaging and undying and ever-hopeful, heralded by light (and a vworrrp vrorrrp noise).

Been pretty obsessed with Superior Spider-Man these past few weeks and there isn't really much art of him, so I decided to clean up some of my favorite panels from Spider-Geddon (plus color corrected a couple of elements like lenses and hands). Sharing here in case anyone else wants those, so feel free to use it for icons and stuff.

I didn't even watch "WISH" yet because in my country it will only be available at january, but people are saying it's a bad cliche so I probably won't watch at the cinema.
The thing is, even though I am a hopeless romantic, not everything has to have romance. There are princess who are perfectly fine without a prince, like Mirabel, Elsa, Merida, Moana and Raya(I do kinda like the idea of Raya with a girl, just not Namaari). But we were so robbed of seeing Asha and the star boy(he is literally a staR so I don't doubt Disney would call him StaN or something like that, so his name is Stan from now on, I am gonna call him like that, is easier than star boy). Asha and Stan had the potential to be the next Tianaveen and Rapunzel&Eugene (I don't know their ship name). The concept arts are the cutest thing I have ever seen. Also "At All Costs" (bop) would have been a love song between the two!!! Them singing it man. The pain I will feel when I don't see them passionately sing it, very "I see the light" coded, in the actual movie. Somehow, now is not feminist for a strong female character to have a male partner by her side. Like...This doesn't make sense! You can be a strong female character and have a man at the same time! Have y'all forgotten Mulan and Shang? Anna and Kristoff? Ariel and Eric? Jasmine and Aladdin? (There are more examples and I could go on all day, but you got what I meant already) I hate Disney for throwing good ideas at the trash and playing safe just for money(like Hobie Brown/Spider-Punk said "it's a metaphor for capitalism"). And as the guy looked blonde with blue/green eyes in the arts I have seen, and Asha is a black latina, they lost the opportunity of having a biracial couple ACTUALLY DONE RIGHT (Pocahontas and John Smith don't count, he is a collonizer with the most common name in the world, she deserves so much better). Like, if the thing is show how inclusive you are by having a black latina female protagonist for little girls to see and feel represented in a good way, you could have increased that feeling by making someone fall in love for her. Little girls would feel like they are beautiful and desired/desireable in a positive way and that they worthy of being loved and love and be with whoever they want to be with, even someone who has a different skin color.
I am also mad because we could have seen Disney's first evil villain COUPLE with King Magnifico and his wife, the queen(still don't know her name, sorry). Can't you guys imagine the HITS, THE FIRST PLACE OF BILLBOARD HOT 100 WORTHY songs, they would proportionate us? Even if only one song, it would be enough for me. But someone thought having a female villain would be anti-feminist and they discarded an original and authentic idea, which is what Disney built its empire on the first place. Come on Disney minorities don't want to be portrayed as those unrealistic superior beings, they want to be portrayed as real human beings with emotions, struggles, qualities and flaws. Having an iconic female villain like you guys always had(like Maleficent, Cruella De Vil, Ursula, Mother Gothel, Lady Tremaine, etc) and set her up with an iconic male villain(like Gaston, Doctor Facilier, Shan Yu, Jafar, Hans, etc) it would have been top notch, god tier. King Magnifico and the queen could have been like the Gomez and Morticia of evil. You could address so many topics by it. Like the kingdom being ruled by evil would have been a great social critic of some politicians out there, for example. And we could have had an iconic final boss battle between Asha and Stan VS Magnifico and the queen.
Anyway, what I mean by this is that if someone has fanarts or just ANY CONTENT, of Asha and Stan, tag me, reblog this or comment, I don't care, just warn me, because they are my new obsession. I will also write a fanfic about this movie with these ideas, but only after I have watched the movie so until them, please feed my hyperfixation in Stasha (Star boy/Stan×Asha), I'm begging y'all

Spider & déjà blue road trip headcannons
I already said I’m on a road trip so here you go 👀 might be heavily OOC bc I’m tired
.
When Spider found out that he’s getting dragged on a road trip with his bio dad, uncles and aunt, he was not excited. First of all, because they’re likely a bunch of uncool, overly strict marines and second because they’re grown ups 🙄 but custody is custody, so he has no choice.
Mansk had a van, so they use it to travel during this trip.
The kid had no idea what he was getting into, but neither did the déjà blu.
Quaritch
Goes full mother hem mode, prepares for any contingency. Has two first-aid kits, all sorts of camping equipment and even some hidden firearms (Spider doesn’t know about the latter and it’s best it stays that way)
Packed lunches and snacks for Spider!.
Drives the car and talks about sports, fishing and hunting with Lye who’s one seat behind. He later moves to sit next to him when blondie becomes way too hyperactive for him to handle.
Spider will be back though, because Eywa knows this man is ancient and needs help working through Google maps so the squad actually gets somewhere this weekend.
Yells at passengers in the backseats when they get too loud.
Shares an earbud with Spider at one point, to drown out the snores and listens to indie with him ☺️ doesn’t want to admit it, but thinks his son’s playlist is low-key a bomb. They sing the lyrics quietly while the others sleep.
(Pssst, the song they’re vibing to:
Spider
Is restless. He needs movement and sitting in a car is the exact opposite of that. Needless to say, keeping him occupied is quite difficult.
First several hours, he’s content to listen to music while looking out the window, drawing in his sketchbook or watching YouTube, but he’s itching to do something and the backseat seems much more fun, with loudly Z-dog and Lopez are talking.
Getting teased and firing back at them busies him some more, but he has to eventually come back to the front seat to argue with Miles about what roads to take and how to work the gps on his phone.
“See??? It’s saying that the road is closed!”
“Where the hell is it written!?”
“THERE! There’s an icon of some guy digging, that means road work ahead!”
“Well I sure damn how it does!”
“OH MY— DAD I SWEAR TO EYWA—”
Buys silly keychains and charms on every stop to add to an ever growing collection on his locker key, that he can then use to jingle as to further annoy the adults or get their attention.
Lyle
Provides Miles witch a company while he’s stuck trying to entertain Spider.
Proceeds to bore Spider to sleep by talking about fishing.
Takes over driving when Quaritch is too tired and has an hour long back and forth with the kid, exchanging sarcasm and making him cringe with his puns (yes, he’s the dad pun uncle, you can’t change my mind)
Pays for Spider’s keychains.
Zdog
Shares her row in the van with Lopez because they’re both high energy menaces.
Stole some of Spider’s snacks.
“Hey, hey, Spidey”
“Ugh what?”
“Ok so who do you think would win, a silverback gorilla OR a grizzly bear??”
She’s on the side of the bear, and Spider bands with her, arguing with Lopez for hours about which of the animals would kick the other’s ass.
Braids Spider’s hair when she gets bored and the kid ends up rocking Viking braids for the rest of their trip.
Lopez
Is on the side of the gorilla and borderline disowned the two he shares his seat with after hours of arguing and trying to prove to them that the monke is superior because it has a bigger brain and hands ☝️
“What the fuck is the monkey going to do to a grizzly???”
“It can use tools! Make itself a badass battle axe, like in Godzilla vs king-Kong!!”
Takes Spider’s snacks from Zdog and munches her stolen goods right in front of her.
Mansk
Mansk provided the transport, so he’s content to rest in the back of the car with Ja, who, together with him is the calmest out of the squad.
Mostly just stares out the window, listens to music or sleeps.
However, will absolutely grill whatever fish Lyle catches during the trip. He hasn’t brought grilling equipment for nothing!
Offered to sit in the middle row so he could dampen the chaos of Lopez, Z and Spidey but they declined. He’ll have to get better earplugs next time.
Ja/Alexander
The second mother hen of the group. Asked everyone a billion times if they packed everything they needed, and brought a med-kit of his own.
Is the one to disinfect Spider’s knees when he scrapes them while climbing rocks near the parking lot. He’s not a big talker, but has a softer vibe than Mansk.
Pampers Spider just a bit. Gives him his snacks when Z-dog steals them, offers him water and so on. The more subtle details that Quaritch or Spider himself may miss.

Spider-Man vs. Doc Ock.
Doc Ock was probably the best option for the first Sony villain that Peter fights. "The power of the sun in the palm of my hand," is such an iconic yet situational catch-phrase that's completely unique to this specific interpretation of the character.
For a quick and easy identifier that tells the audience, "No, this isn't just MCU Villain, this is very specifically the one from the Sony movie," that line is easily the fastest way to convey that information. You hear that and you instantly understand what's happening here.
Throughout the fight, we see some references to the Raimi and Webb Spidey films. Peter gets his version of The Bridge Scene. You know the one. Tobey got to catch a bus that was thrown off a bridge and Andrew got to catch a car that was thrown off a bridge, and now Tom gets to catch a car that was thrown off a bridge. We also get to see Tom do a slow-mo dodge of a car thrown at him from behind like the one from Ock's movie.
But what ultimately carries the fight for Tom-Peter isn't how alike he is to the other Spider-Men. Rather, it's how different he is. The unique qualities that set his interpretation apart from previous versions of the character.
He beats Otto through technological superiority. Otto's metal arms may have been cutting-edge super-science in his reality, but they're small potatoes next to the Stark tech Peter used to build his new suit in Far From Home. This is an answer for the problem of Otto that Tobey could never have devised with his limited resources.
And it sets the stage for what will be a key factor in the film's central conflict.
As an aside, this fight also confirms for us that Tom having a different face from Tobey is actually meant to be true in-universe. We are not meant to look at them and go, "Yeah, but they're the same guy so they probably look the same in the fictional reality itself." This movie establishes that variants sometimes look wildly different from each other and that's just... Normal.

Ok, spill the beans about this Mad Mod blorbo of yours. Gimme the details
aaaaaaaa!!!!!! oh my gosh yes yes yes thank you for the opportunity i would love to gush about him - and hopefully get some other people interested 🙈🙈🙈 prepare for an infodump!!!
Tumblr media
this is Mad Mod, real name Neil Richards: a brilliant, stylish villain, and an iconic enemy of the Teen Titans!! now, Mad Mod's been around for a while, first appearing in Teen Titans #7 as a fashion designer-turned-smuggler working on Carnaby Street, and later with a more hipster design in the New 52 DC comics. however, the version you'll see me yelling about most (and i think that most are familiar with) is the Mad Mod from the 2003 animated Teen Titans show (see above) 💖
Mad Mod is very much emblematic of his name: he's a crazy British bad guy whose aesthetic, interests and personality are influenced by 60's Mod culture. he speaks with a pronounced Cockney accent (voiced by Malcolm McDowell, who you may know as Alex DeLarge from A Clockwork Orange), dresses in trim, fashionable, Mod-style suits and other outfits (e.g., military parkas), and is an extreme Anglophile: believing British culture and values (ostensibly Mod culture, but also Britain and/or England as a monolith) are superior to others. his original beef with the Teen Titans is their lack of manners: Mad Mod believes them to be poorly behaved, and in need of 'teaching' and 'correcting' (please make no assumptions about me or my taste from this 🙈).
Tumblr media
i think Mad Mod is fascinating for a lot of reasons, with the first being his incredible technological capabilities. you see, Mad Mod is not technically the young man you see in the image above: he's actually well past middle-age, but is capable of constructing high-tech illusions using gadgets, robots and screens (shown to be controlled using his ruby-topped cane, which he is quite proficient with!). in Teen Titans, Mad Mod is first shown projecting this younger version of himself as a hologram in a constructed, confusing labyrinth which mimics a school. behind the scenes, Mad Mod - physically an old man - is using this younger version as an avatar to torment the Teen Titans. however, later on Mad Mod devises a technology which allows him to steal youth from other people. in the episode Revolution, Mad Mod steals Robin's youth, reverting his own physical form to a younger version - confirming that the Mad Mod we see in his debut episode is how he looked when he was younger: the skinny, suited redhead with the pretty smile 😉
Tumblr media
a lot of people will remember Mad Mod for one thing: the hypnosis. a big gimmick of Mad Mod's is his use of custom-built hypnoscreens: large screens which play repetitive spirals intended to hypnotise and/or brainwash the observer. his goals expand beyond just trying to hypnotise the Teen Titans into being more well-behaved; he later attempts to brainwash them and the entirety of Jump City into believing the American Revolution never happened, and that he is actually their English king. with regards to his love of Britain and England, Mad Mod is...not particularly well-adjusted, and i'm saying that as a Brit 🙈💖
Tumblr media
a lot of people are very taken by the unique design of Mad Mod's episodes - specifically his chase sequences, which contain fun references to popular British culture (like Monty Python and The Beatles). taken to be an avant-garde extension of the giant illusions he builds, Mad Mod's style borrows a good deal from 60's pop art, and uses stark, black-and-white imagery with noticeably different rendering than other characters and backgrounds. it's honestly really cool!!! you may recognise a similar art style used in Across the Spider-Verse with Spider-Punk, AKA Hobie Brown 🔥
Tumblr media
everything about Mad Mod is explicitly British (particularly English), but his view of Britishness and correct behaviour is both out-dated and extraordinarily narrow. i theorise this is because he never quite reconciled with growing older and the Mod subculture going out of style...he's obsessed with regaining his youth, and despite being The Most British Thing Since Austin Powers, he continues to live in America and push a very odd, caricatured idea of Britishness onto other people that is unique to his worldview. as Cyborg sums up neatly, "Man, I bet even real British people don't like you!"
Tumblr media
but, all of that lore aside - you came to know why Mad Mod is my latest blorbo!!! well...just look at him 🥴 he's capital e 'Evil' with a penchant for tying people up and absolutely no respect for other people's personal space 🥺💖 he also has that attractive combo of being abrasive and degrading, whilst also being soft and elegant. not to mention he's a total goofball;;; there's nothing i love more than a villain who's having a great time, and he is having a blast 🙈
Tumblr media
you know this guy is Tumblr Sexyman material too: the suits, the cane-twirling, the crazy powers...who cares that he's actually a grandpa? sexualising old men is a national sport on this website 😂 on a physical level he hits a lot of beats for me...gangly, bespectacled (with tinted lenses!!!!!), ginger and crooked teeth??? man 😳😳😳 it doesn't help that i've already had a handful of f/os who are meant to represent a specific decade/style/etc, one of whom is literally Austin Powers;;; my taste is terrible, but consistent 😂😂 all in all, please visualise little cartoon hearts coming off my icon whenever you see me posting about this freak 🥰🥰🥰 if you're a lover of silly villains too, the DCAU is a great place to look!! shout out to my pal @iriso-page for sending the fateful ask that triggered my fixation in a cascade 🙈 thanks so much for sending this in - hopefully this causes a couple other people to check him out too 😉

Very Belated Thoughts on Gwenpool Strikes Back #4
With Gwenpool becoming a certified canon aroace icon, I wanted to give my thoughts on the significance of Gwenpool Strikes Back issue #4 as I’ve seen a lot of people making some... bold claims about that issue’s implications for Gwen’s continuity.
For those unfamiliar, Gwenpool Strikes Back #4 opens with Gwen in a conundrum: she needs to defeat the Incredible Hulk in a fight and she, with her usual powersets, definitely doesn’t have the ability to win (why is she fighting the Hulk? don’t worry about it). When knocked into the gutterspace by one of the Hulk’s punches, she hatches a plan while visibly concussed: she will travel through her own publication history and take various incarnations of her from their comics to assemble her own team of (anti-)heroic Gwens to help her save the day.
Tumblr media
This gaggle of Gwens, dubbed the “Gwen Hive,” all have their own personalities, goals, visions, belief systems, and general vibes, inspired by how Gwen was written in the comics they were taken from. Superior Spider-Man Gwen is hyper-intelligent, Champions Gwen is incredibly over-excited and ready to punch the bad guy in the face, Civil War II Gwen is half-naked and has an unhealthy love of firearms, etc..
Tumblr media
This sequence calls attention to the ways that Gwen has been written in the past and both the subtle and not-so-subtle differences between them. It acknowledges how different creative teams have had different ideas on how to depict the character and that they don’t all necessarily vibe with each other. This is a fair observation and was kind of a relief for fans of the character at the time, who were often very vocally frustrated about the inconsistency in how Gwen was written.
The core observation behind this sequence, however, is not at all unique to Gwenpool?
Every Marvel comics superhero - heck, every character from a franchise with shared continuity that lasts between multiple creative teams - has this happen to some extent. Different creative teams have different visions, different ideas, different art styles, etc. They will emphasize and de-empashize different traits of characters to fit the story they want to tell. And - potentially hot take here - that is a good thing! I like it when Editorial gives artists creative freedom to tell unique stories with their characters. There are stories I like more than others, of course, but it’s still generally a good thing that we aren’t usually being forced to relive the same one plotline for each character over and over...
Tumblr media
Gwen assembling the Gwen-Hive from her past appearances is a direct acknowledgement of and satire of the inconsistency in her characterization, but I don’t think it is saying she literally completely resets in-universe every time that she has a new creative team. She is just observing a basic reality of how the comic book industry works. Gwen can summon the Gwen Hive, but you could easily have a Peter Parker Hive or a Wolverine Hive or a Kate Pryde Hive made up of different versions of and interpretations of the character - and, just like the Gwen hive, they would be unlikely to agree on everything or see everything from the same point of view!
In that regard, the Gwen Hive is just an extension of her usual powerset. Gwen can grab onto the corners of panels and enter gutterspace, taking advantage of something that most comic books have (gutters between panels) to help her fight and survive. Through the Gwen Hive, Gwen is able to take advantage of something that most comic book characters have (a multitude of appearances with various unique personality quirks and perspectives) to help her fight and survive her encounter with the Hulk.
And I think that’s really cool! I don’t love all of Strikes Back, but I think that this sequence is a really fitting take on the character’s powers and history. Super neat stuff.
Tumblr media
So, now in 2023, years after Gwenpool Strikes Back finished its run, it is really weird to me that people are responding to Gwen coming out by saying “Oh, but the Gwen Hive exists, so therefore Gwen HAS NO CANON ACTUALLY and HER SEXUALITY COULD BE RETCONNED WITHOUT EXPLANATION” because... That wasn’t the point of Strikes Back’s story? Gwen is more aware of how she changes from story to story then other comic book characters are (because, y’know, fourth-wall awareness), but that doesn’t mean that the way she changes from book to book is any different. She changes because writers want or need her to change. She becomes smarter and more genre savvy in Superior Spider-Man to be a foil to Doc Oc and she becomes dumber and more presumptuous in Champions to be a foil to the Champions.
TL;DR - Marvel Editorial isn’t going to let someone retcon her asexuality on a whim after greenlighting an entire comic about her coming out as aroace and then putting her on the cover of a Marvel’s Voices Pride issue.
Tumblr media
She’s Gwenpool. She’s aroace. Let’s not worry about having her taken away from us, okay?

so i'm here to show @nahkyl that i'm actually not terrifying at all by showing my top 10 comfort movies where she and @anytimebitchess tagged me in 🤸🤸
starting off with this masterpiece of a movie: catching fire. i love the entire franchise a lot, but that movie is just superior. the other movies simply don't compare, it's top tier
Tumblr media
number 2: black widow. nat was always my favourite avenger and i was sooo hyped for her movie to come out. her story is just heartbreaking and she's such an icon!! and it has florence pugh as my favourite character ever. infinity/10
Tumblr media
number 3: rio!! such a silly little movie i can't even fathom my love for it
Tumblr media
number 4: the town. it just never misses i adore it like the robberies are hilarious. i love these criminals
Tumblr media
number 5: crazy, stupid, love. the title alone is a 10/10 because it sums EVERYTHING up. and i just love the mess that this movie is hehe
Tumblr media
number 6: als der weihnachtsmann vom himmel fiel. it's my favourite christmas movie (based on a book by the german author cornelia funke who's an absolute genius), i watched it all the time as a child, and i still watch it every year during christmas time. nothing compares to the comfort of blankets, christmas cookies, tea and this movie
Tumblr media
and since we're already going through german movies, here's another movie of my childhood: wickie und die starken männer. i watched that movie with my dad while my mama was pregnant with my little sister, it's one of my favourite memories so naturally the movie is one of my favourites as well. the jokes are even better when you're an adult and actually understand what they're getting at
Tumblr media
number 8: yesterday. it's overhated, it's such a cute movie and i'm very attached to it. i watch that multiple times a year if i have to (and just imagine a world without your favourite artist's music... unbearable)
Tumblr media
number 9: spider-man: homecoming. peter parker & tony stark, do i have to say more?
Tumblr media
andddd my favourite movie of all time: coco. disney-pixar is amazing, change my mind. this movie is so, so perfect, it gives comfort for losing a loved one and just shows so much love. the colours are beautiful as well and the animations are amazing. i also love the songs, they're adorable and fun. i hope every soul is guided by a spirit animal in the afterlife of this world as well. i've seen that movie way too many times already and i will watch it again in the near future. my entire heart.
(also, the petals look kinda tasty)
Tumblr media
i'm too lazy to tag anyone so everyone who wants to do it please go for it and then tag me, i'm always curious about others' comfort movies & desperate for new ones to watch

Unveiling Marvel's Newest Villain: Supernova & The Return of Superior Spider-Man!
Supernova, the enigmatic new adversary of the Superior Spider-Man, is poised to create quite a buzz in the Marvel Universe. With a big red circle on the calendar, November is a month that every comic book enthusiast should eagerly anticipate. It marks the return of the Superior Spider-Man, a character beloved by fans for his complex persona and intriguing storylines. But what's even more exciting is the revelation of Supernova, the villain who's about to make the Superior Spider-Man's life a lot more interesting.
Come October, Otto Octavius, known to many as the villainous Doctor Octopus, will temporarily hang up his mechanical arms and slip back into the iconic spandex suit of the Superior Spider-Man. But why this sudden change of heart, you ask? Well, it's all in commemoration of a significant milestone—the 10th anniversary of the notorious body-swapping incident, where Doc Ock cunningly usurped Peter Parker's identity, leading to a series of unforgettable events in the Marvel Universe.
While the details surrounding Octavius's transformation into Superior Spidey remain shrouded in mystery, one thing is certain: the thrilling adventure will unfold within the pages of Superior Spider-Man Returns #1. Adding to the anticipation is the fact that the story is in the capable hands of none other than Dan Slott, the co-creator of Superior Spider-Man himself. Slott's masterful storytelling and intricate character development have earned him a devoted following, and fans can't wait to see what he has in store for the web-slinger.
But that's not all. Joining Dan Slott in this creative endeavor are some of the industry's finest artists, including Ryan Stegman, the co-creator of Superior Spider-Man. Their combined talents promise to deliver a visual experience that will leave readers in awe. And the icing on the cake? Newsarama is generously offering a sneak peek at the stunning artwork featured in the issue, providing fans with an exclusive glimpse of Supernova, the enigmatic new foe set to challenge the Superior Spider-Man.
The artistic lineup includes Mark Bagley, Ryan Stegman, Humberto Ramos, and Giuseppe Camuncoli, each renowned for their contributions to the Spider-Man legacy. Together, they are sure to bring the pages of Superior Spider-Man Returns #1 to life with their dynamic illustrations and attention to detail.
Before we get carried away with speculations about Supernova, it's worth noting that there is another character in the Marvel Universe who goes by the name Supernova. Garthan Saal, a former member of the Nova Corps, once held the illustrious title of Super Nova (notice the subtle spelling difference). While it's tempting to connect the dots, it's important to remember that in the realm of comics, surprises and twists are par for the course. Whether there's a deeper connection between these two characters or not, readers are sure to be in for an intriguing storyline.
Once fans have hungrily devoured every web-tastic moment in Superior Spider-Man Returns #1, they can look forward to an exciting new chapter. Dan Slott and artist Mark Bagley are set to launch a brand-new Superior Spider-Man ongoing series that picks up where their current Spider-Man run left off. This promises to be a continuation of the thrilling adventures and heart-pounding action that fans have come to expect from the Superior Spider-Man.
So, dear readers, mark your calendars once more and clear your schedules. Superior Spider-Man Returns #1 is set to swing into your local comic book store on October 11. Don't even think about missing it; true believers won't want to be left out of this exhilarating new chapter in the Superior Spider-Man's journey!

Dr. Strange 2: Witness the power of this fully armed and operational Disney VFX budget!
Tumblr media
I liked the movie. The multiverse/magic stuff looks great, and if you watch Strange 1, then Far From Home, then this, you can see a pretty clear progression.
As someone whose knowledge of Sam Raimi is literally just "Saw all 3 Spider-Man movies and Darkman," I appreciate his directorial flourishes. You can tell he's flexing here, especially with the bigger budget.
I like Wanda and Strange’s arcs.
I do have some issues with America, though.
SPOILERS
There's an LP channel called Spoiler Warning. They once MST3K'd Mass Effect 3, and mocked the halibut out of the blatant attempt at pathos in the first level. "But Shamus," Josh would snark, "a kid died!"
In case you aren't familiar with the game, Shepard tries to save a random little kid hiding in a vent. The kid refuses to come out. Then later, as Shep leaves, they look down and see the kid, hopping on the last shuttle out of Vancouver.
The big bad space squid enemies laser it, and then Shepard has bad dreams for the rest of the game. Because a generic kid died.
And that's what America is. She's A Kid. Extruded teen product. Servicable. She the meat and potatoes of characters.
The movie examines Strange's pride. In the first movie, he was an egotist who thought it was All About Him. In this movie, he doesn't, but he still thinks it's on him to fix the problems-
Sorry, I just had to take a moment to make sure they didn't mix up a few script pages from Iron Man 2.
Kid sidekicks are supposed to bring out new character traits in the main protagonist. Robin contrasts Batman's dark grittiness (Well, except for Damien and Dick, where Damien was the dark one and Dick was the lighter one.). Jimmy Olsen contrasts Superman by just being A Guy who keeps getting caught up in super-shenanigans.
America can't use her powers on command-
Sorry, I just had to take a moment to make sure they didn't mix up a few script pages from Into the Spider-Verse.
And the climax of her arc is to learn how awesome and powerful she actually is-
Sorry, I just had to take a moment to make sure they didn't mix up a few script pages from Captain Marvel.
Jokes aside, "believe in the me who believes in you!" is a perfectly...functional plot here. It works. She works. It’s...kind of a contrast with Strange’s arc? But she's a pretty flat character. Maybe if the movie started with her trusting only in herself. I don’t mean the weaksauce stuff we got, I mean straight up paranoia. She only trusts herself, which is a dark mirror of Strange’s arc. And Wanda’s too! She’s only going with Strange because she’s out of options.
Tumblr media
Now, the cynical part of me says this is because of woke shenanigans. The optimist says it might be because they want to give her a full arc of her own in some other series or movie. Or because they already had two major character arcs in the film.
Incidentally, it turns out America’s power has been taking her to the ‘correct’ universes all along. Which includes universes where good things happen to her. Which explains why she’s so relatively-well-adjusted.
Incidentally, America is gay in the comics. I hoped they wouldn't try to include a subplot about a 15 year old's sexuality. And they didn't.
They did something...else.
So, in this film (and maybe the comics) America is apparently from an idyllic, peaceful lesbian(?) commune-
Sorry, I just had to take a moment to make sure they didn't mix up a few script pages from Wonder Woman.
-and accidentally knocked her moms into some unknown other dimension when her powers kicked in-
Sorry, I just had to take a moment to make sure they didn't mix up a few script pages from Inhumans.
Oh, right, Inhumans. Black Bolt is on the Illuminati. I was hoping for the Tom Cruise as Superior Iron Man. John Krasinski as Reed Richards was
Tumblr media
They also finally gave Professor X the iconic yellow wheelchair. Maria Rambeau is Captain Marvel, like her daughter was in the comics for a while.
(Aside: I loved Monica in Nextwave as Kermit to the team's Muppets, and know nothing else about her regular appearances.)
And they bought back Anson Mount as Black Bolt, which was
Tumblr media
Was it fanservice? Yes. Was it fun? Yes. Was Reed Richard useless? Yes.
Oh, and it bugged me how many shots seemed framed specifically to show off America’s Pride pin. Which I could ignore if it wasn’t that new racialized version I dislike*. Maybe it’s in honor of her moms, idk. She is also, quite possibly, the most special person in the multiverse, because there is apparently only one of her, likely for plot reasons.
These minor things aside, yeah, worth a few bucks.
* Ironic how a flag about bringing people together is now implying some LGBT people are more important than others.

01. this blog is considered to be low active. i don't see tumblr as a job and will pretty much only find muse during the weekends or when i have the time. i don't force it as forcing to have muse is the quickest way for me to lose it. you know how it goes.
02. i make my own psds. no i won't be using icons either nor in the foreseeable future. though this will likely change. i don't care for aesthetics as most of it nowadays are a bit of an eye strain. i am duplicate friendly though i tend to not follow first. if you use small text and whacky fonts such at this: ʰᵉˡˡᵒ˒ ʰᶤ˒ ᵍʳᵉᵉᵗᶤᶰᵍˢ. then i ask that you do not use that type of font when writing with me and stray from using light colored text. i have old man eyes.
03. i don't like drama. i don't reblog callouts (unless it revolves grooming, racism and all that nasty shit) and i won't take sides. if i interact with someone that you personally don't like. then you're more than welcome to block me. we're all pretty much in our 20s and 30s. our days in school ended. no need to act superior and better. if that's the case, i'll block.
04. my dms are always open for plotting. though i am often always slow on getting around. mutuals are more than welcome to ask for my discord.
