EDIT: I'm glad Lex isn't in this too soon, because then all the focus would definitely go to him! And other characters deserve a chance to shine (anime twink Slade is giving me life I can't stop laughing at him.) But the Amazo-tech-bro villain in Ep 4 proves that "Lex Luthor not reflecting modern villainy" is BS lmaoo. Looking forward to LL whenever he shows up.

“Well, Clark, he must be someone special. I haven’t seen you this worked up since you took Rachel Harris to your senior prom!” Martha giggled into her mug from where she was sitting across from Clark at the table.

Jonathan patted his wife’s hand and smiled at his son. “We can’t wait to meet him.”

Clark tensed, before loosening his shoulders and staring into his cup of tea. “Before you meet him, there’s something I need to tell you.” He took a deep breath, wondering if it was the right thing to do, revealing his boyfriend’s secret. His parents were trustworthy; after all, they had kept his origin a secret for as long as he’s been on earth.

“What is it, dear?” His mother’s face became concerned, and she reached out a hand to place it over his on the table.

At his hesitation, Jonathan’s brow furrowed and he nodded encouragingly at him. “It’s alright, son, you can tell us.”

“Bruce is...Batman. I shouldn’t tell you, but I felt you should know, with what they write about him in the papers.” Clark dared a glance up over the top of his glasses to see both his parents smiling at him.

“Oh, Clark, honey, we don’t care if he’s a Martian or dresses up in a bat costume. As long as you're happy, that's all that matters.”

A hesitant smile made its way across his face. “I am, Mom. I really am.”

“Then that’s all that matters to us.” Martha stood up from her seat and wrapped her arms around Clark, patting his cheek as she pulled back. “Tell him to bring that son of his around. The poor boy looks like he could use some pie.”

Clark laughed. “I will, Mom.”

“Son, do you think he could help work on that old tractor when he comes by? He’s got to be good at working with machines if he’s Batman.”

Martha gently swatted her husband’s forearm. “Oh, hush, Jonathan. The man will be here on vacation, not to work! Clark, what do you think they’d want to eat? What do rich people eat? Would he like a painting?”

Relieved that the reveal had gone well, Clark felt his heart slow back to its normal speed and did his best to answer his parents questions and concerns, already knowing deep down that his parents would adore Bruce and Dick and would get on swimmingly with Alfred.

while I'm glad they answered why Jon has no powers and knew it was a story-driven decision because biologically he's just as Kryptonian as Jordan.. why did their answer have to be that

"We want balance between Jon and Jordan" If anything they have a power imbalance because of Jordan's powers. Do we ever see Jon actually stick up for himself against Jordan? No, because Jordan could shatter his ribcage if he got angry and hit Jon. The only time he did when he was on x-k which made the fight fair and gave Jon a shot. And if season 3 didn't make it obvious enough, Jordan sees himself as better compared to Jon and won't even stick up for him when he sees Jon is embarrassed and being treated wrongly

Jordan rarely gets in trouble for all the shit he does on purpose while Jon is the one who has to be humbled and scolded for.. trying to be a good person

That's not balance and it's not showing one between having powers and not having them. The show itself treats Jon like he's lesser than compared to Jordan because he has no powers

Which brings me to the next thing they said

"We wanna show that non-powered people are just as important as powered people" Yeah, maybe with Lois, but with Jon? No. Jon has never shown to be important without powers in three seasons. Like I said up there, the show degrades him for not having powers while spotlighting Jordan because "he's the chosen one who got the powers"

Even with his firefighter thing, he's not being treated as important there and the show isn't treating it as important either. Every time we saw scenes of Jon in the station it was mainly for drama (that was about Jordan or something Superman related) and not to show that "Jon's just as important as Jordan"

(Though I'm pretty sure the fire station scenes were just excuses to kick Jon around a little more since no matter what he did there he always ended up getting in trouble even if he didn't actually do anything wrong)

I had more to say about the balance thing but no, Jon isn't as important as Jordan and the show isn't trying to tell us that either

#the only season jon could've been seen just as heroic without powers was season 1 #but he didn't do a single thing hero wise in season 2 and 3 #he's mainly there to be jordan's hype man or step-stool #superman and lois #jonathan kent

So was the comment about something “kickstarting a fire that’s lit” was a pun about Jon working for the firestation. But how did episode 3 kick start anything for him? Getting his truck back? 

Btw, what can a 16 yo do in a fire station. Kyle said he is the right age. For what? Actual firefighter work? Training?

Got around to watching 3x01

yeah fan reactions summed up my feelings : every scene focused on a new storyline/character, you can't really focus on anything/get attached or tell much story. So it was mainly the beginning of storylines/hinting at what's possibly to come, which is alright for a premier

-superson wants to be superboy I guess? But also doesn't understand what it means when someone breaks up with you? (is this a s2 rerun? Will he ever learn?)

-human son, idk what's gonna happen with him. They gave him a driver's license story for the season premier. Very skipable

-lana/John vs chrissy/Kyle... I guess? Idk

-I'm keeping my eye on the Irons duo; kinda want Nat and sam to hang out and bond

-will jh's sister meet alt!JH?

-clois being all cute. I'm curious how the lois health storyline will go especially with the reviving mojo bruno got. I see bad things in the future. Are we gonna get dark/evil lois? Bruno gonna force her to work for him bc his mojo keeps her alive but also a supervillain?

And can't wait to see reporter Clark in action hopefully

-oooh the villains have me excited, showing us 3 and namedropping a 4th; idk why but my intuition is telling me the onmonotopaeieu (I don't know how to spell that name) person may be a woman underneath the mask? I wonder if it's someone new or someone we know? What is the point of the mojo? Does bruno and/or omnopotopeuau revive someone indefinitely?

In conclusion after 3x01: I will probs be skipping past the teen and romance drama parts to watch clois, the villains etc
