Clark is literally just minding his business! Just walking down the hall, after an elevator interview with Luthor! And baby Dick Grayson immediately just fucking CLOCKS HIM as different.
Didn't even see him rescue anyone! No amazing feats of strength! No super speed! No weird coincidences! Just Clark Kent walking down a hallway and Dick Grayson is immediately ALL THE HELL OVER HIM and he's RIGHT.
And he knows when someone is cheating, he may not know how yet (alien with x-ray vision, to be fair, is a bit out there for his current level of experience), but that kid KNOWS WHEN SOMEONE IS CHEATING.
Also, absolutely PHENOMENAL that, while Bruce apparently leaves Dick in the LEXCORP KIDZ-ZONE while he's busy, I'm sure Dick loved that, even at thirteen years old.

"What is happening right now?!"
This is so fucking funny, everything about this is so funny. I bet this is what kickstarted the permanent downward spiral Slade's life enters.

I don't think you guys understand how absolutely insane this deleted scene makes me. Give me deeply alien Kryptonians or give me death

I was thinking that what I actually wanted was for MAWS Clark Kent to meet Dick Grayson (not just because I'm obsessed with Dick) and then I remembered that something similar happened in Superman: American Alien
And it's great because Dick instantly clocks that there's something off with him and then goes off with a philosophy treatise on Batman
Bonus:
Clark does a little dance because he's so proud of himself

new fic drop!
Jack Callahan doesn't know what he's expecting when he stumbles down the stairs of the rickety old townhouse that doubles as both his home and his practice to answer the knocking at the door at two in the morning, but it certainly isn't Martha Kent clutching a small bundle of cloth to her chest.
His night gets more confusing from there.

okay so i read superman: american alien recently and 1. somehow clark is even more of a dork than usual <3 and 2. i really like the way that the story was written, in the sense that there were quite a few people in smallville that actually knew clark was an alien who eventually became superman. if you read my previous post about this topic, it really is kinda hard to keep the weird stuff about you a secret in such a small town. it’s kinda hard to keep yourself “unknown” from others, even if they only see you a few times in your entire life. they remember you and the things that you did, so it was cool to see that in this comic :)

"The Batman isn't creepy, he's just bad at his job."
BABY DICK GRAYSON ROASTING BATMAN'S JOB PERFORMANCE WHILE BASICALLY MAKING HIS CASE FOR WHY BATMAN SHOULD HIRE HIM.
NOTHING WAS GOING TO STOP THAT KID, NOT SUPERMAN, NOT BATMAN, NOT BRUCE WAYNE, NOT EVEN GOD COULD DO MORE THAN PUT A LEASH ON THAT KID.

One of my favourite things about American Alien is that Clark's identity is hanging on a perilously non-existent thread. His friends warn him that he's got Superman's looks, height, and haircut and Clark's like lol I get that a lot. Man doesn't even bother wearing his glasses full-time. He's just incredibly convinced (spoiled from Smallville, I think) that people won't pay much attention or act on their knowledge and suspicions. I'm assuming that much later/if it ever happens when Clark gains more tangible things to lose if his enemies find out his human identity, he backpedals furiously on this casual-ness and constructs a false persona and is more careful about separating Superman and Clark's behaviours.

[comic review] superman: american alien (2015-16)
writer: max landis
artists: various
this has some big picture problems i expected as soon as i saw the name max landis on the cover, but it also has its moments and is a pretty great miniseries in its own right even if it’s not the achievement that superman: birthright is. the basic problem with it is that it’s copaganda, and it’s a little too impressed with itself. so, you know, it was written by max landis.
what saves it is it’s chock full of all these wildly-entertaining, adorable little moments. like supes getting mistaken for bruce wayne on a party boat and tripping balls on what was supposed to be a deadly neurotoxin administered by deathstroke and just mopping the floor with him while slurring his words. or smashing lex’s window to confront him, and later taunting him by replacing the window and leaving a giant painted note on it that reads, “sorry about the window. see you real soon. xoxo your pal, superman.” pretty much every issue is riddled with these moments of levity.
probably the most serious moment i actually liked was when clark meets and interviews a young dick grayson, who hasn’t become robin yet, but who says he thinks batman needs a counterpoint. a bright and hopeful counterpoint to his dark and scary act. it foreshadows both his future and clark’s, and while it might feel a bit contrived i still really like making that parallel more intentional and meaningful.

I don't want Bruce/Batman to show up in My Adventures with Superman. No, I want Clark to meet a young, early Robin Dick Grayson instead.
