Strawberry Supermoon from China Image Credit & Copyright: Jeff Dai (TWAN)
Explanation: There are four Full Supermoons in 2022. Using the definition of a supermoon as a Full Moon near perigee, that is within at least 90% of its closest approach to Earth in a given orbit, the year's Full Supermoon dates are May 16, June 14, July 13, and August 12. Full Moons near perigee really are the brightest and largest in planet Earth's sky. But size and brightness differences between Full Moons are relatively small and an actual comparison with other Full Moons is difficult to make by eye alone. Two exposures are blended in this supermoon and sky view from June 14. That Full Moon was also known to northern hemisphere skygazers as the Strawberry moon. The consecutive short and long exposures allow familiar features on the fully sunlit lunar nearside to be seen in the same image as a faint lunar corona and an atmospheric cloudscape. They were captured in skies over Chongqing, China.

🌕🐟Sturgeon Supermoon🐟 🌕
Three supermoons have filled our skies in as many months this year, and this week sees the fourth – and last – supermoon of 2022. Supermoons are full moons that appear much bigger and brighter than normal.
Supermoons take place when a full moon coincides with the point in the moon's orbit when it is closest to the Earth. They do not happen all that often, so to catch a glimpse of the rare celestial event is pretty special.
The Sturgeon supermoon rises at 8:55pm on Thursday 11th August as seen from London as the sun begins to set at 8.30pm. The supermoon will reach its peak – otherwise known as a syzygy, when the Moon is almost directly between the Sun and the Earth in a straight line configuration – at 2.36am on the morning of 12th August.
Sadly, this will be the last supermoon of the year. There was the Flower Moon in May, then June's Strawberry Moon, followed by the Buck Moon – the largest supermoon of the year, orbiting closer to Earth than any other full moon – last month.
The Old Farmer's Almanac named August's full moon after the giant sturgeon fish of the Great Lakes and Lake Champlain, which were often caught during this part of the summer. Alternative names for the Sturgeon Moon are the Flying Moon, Corn Moon and Ricing Moon, amongst others.
Sending Supermoon blessings to you and your loved ones from MooncraftmagickStore. 💙💙

AUGUST 2022 - FULL MOON NIGHTS
The next full moon is a Sturgeon Moon and it reaches its peak on Thursday, August 11, 2022. It will be the last supermoon of the year! The Moon will appear full for about three days, from Wednesday morning (Aug 10) through Saturday morning (Aug 13).
Over these three days, all WEREWOLVES in Vievecor City will experience the following:
Forced transformations into their wolf forms at night when the moon in visible in the night sky.
Heightened emotions, be they anger, sadness or happiness. Younger (below 35 years of age) and newly bitten wolves might not be able to control their aggression easily.
Heightened physical abilities. They will be able to lift and throw small trucks, run up to 70 miles per hour, keep that running speed for up to 5 minutes, have keen night vision, hearing and smell, take the force of a grenade without sustaining injuries and regenerate bullet wounds in a minute. This will make them slightly stronger than vampires.
The Lycaon pack has designated the forests of Chissob Hills open to all werewolves for use during these nights. Other packs should beware not to overstep the hospitality of the reigning Lycaon pack. Lone wolves are also allowed to use these forests but should keep their guard up around other packs in the vicinity.
Werewolves who do not wish to use the forests of Chissob Hills are trusted to keep themselves in line wherever they choose to spend their full moon nights.
Some other things of note during full moon nights are:
Supernaturals who can tap into astral magic, divination, dream magic, lunar magic and water magic will feel these magics becoming stronger over the nights of the full moon.
All elves will be overcome with a deep sense of calm whenever the full moon is at its peak, feeling their heart rates and blood pressures decreasing slightly over these nights. Their desire to be in nature to moon bathe will be particularly strong.
The Lycocorpus plant will only be in bloom for 5 minutes at midnight on the one night when the moon is the fullest each month. Witches who grow this plant need to harvest it at this particular time for use in potions.
The Golden Rule is still in place over full moon nights for all supernaturals and any rule breaking will result in punishment by the various species elders and/or the Council.

We’re still not sure on why this occurs, but a popular opinion is that our brain will compare the Moon with distant objects on the horizon (such as masts or buildings) and fool us into thinking it’s much larger. Unfortunately, it’s just our human eyes playing tricks, but it’s still cool. The Moon illusion is when the Moon appears much bigger during moonrise and moonset, as it’s low on the horizon.
#Full moon strawberry moon full
And because June’s full Moon reaches perigee soon after moonrise, it’s likely we may see the Moon illusion in play this month. This effect is amplified further when the Moon is on the horizon, thanks to something called the 'Moon illusion'. This is the much less impressive micromoon.Ī supermoon is around 7 per cent larger and 15 per cent brighter than a standard full Moon, or 14 per cent bigger and 30 per cent brighter than a micromoon. This composite image shows the apparent difference in size between a supermoon and a micromoon © Peter LawrenceĬonversely, when a full Moon is close to the apogee (the furthest point away from the Earth in its orbital path), the Moon appears smaller. When the Moon reaches perigee at the same time as a full Moon, we get a supermoon and the Moon appears larger in the sky. This point has a name, and it’s called the perigee. What causes a supermoon?Ī supermoon occurs when the Moon, which orbits the Earth in an elliptical (oval) orbit, is at its closest point to Earth along this orbital path. The July and August full Moons, the Buck Moon and Sturgeon Moon, are both supermoons. Moon Practices Moon Practices Collection Summer Solstice. Connect with love, good fortune, sensuality, and fertility: Try a ritual with delicious strawberries to honor the June full moon. This means that we often see two or three full supermoons in a row.
The spiritual meaning of this month’s Strawberry Moon calls you to enjoy what has been cultivated and let go of what isn’t working anymore.
Supermoons are classified when the Moon is at 360,000km (or less) away from Earth in its orbital path. Yes, the Strawberry Moon in 2022 is a supermoon, and it’s also the first supermoon of the year. The name ‘mead Moon’ is also used, and refers to the time when honey can be harvested in preparation for fermenting to make mead. In Europe, it’s also known as the Rose Moon, roses being currently in abundance across the UK, and other names include ‘the Moon of the peach’, the ‘Moon of the crane’ and the ‘hot Moon’. This was the name universal to every Algonquin tribe in eastern North America and Canada. June’s full Moon is known by many different names, but it’s most commonly known as the Strawberry Moon, thanks to the ripening of the berries at this time. Here is Bristol, it’s looking dry with a light cloud cover, so fingers crossed! Why is it called the Strawberry Moon? So, weather permitting, we should be treated to a nice, full supermoon close to the horizon. The next supermoon, July's Buck Supermoon, will see the Moon reaching it's closest perigee of the year at only 357,272km away from Earth. At its closest point in June, the Moon will be 357,435km away from the Earth. When is the next supermoon? Next month’s full moon, the buck moon, is also a supermoon and will appear July 13.The Moon will rise in the southeast at 10:02pm and will reach its closest point, the perigee at 00:23am BST in the early hours of 15 June 2022.
#Full moon strawberry moon free
The Virtual Telescope Project in Ceccano, Italy, will host a free livestream of the full moon on June 14.
ET on Tuesday, though it will still look full the day before and after,” NPR reported.
“June’s supermoon officially takes place - meaning it will be fully illuminated by the sun - at 7:51 a.m.
How to see it: According to Forbes, the best time to see the strawberry moon will be just after sunset on Tuesday, June 14. June’s full moon was given its name by the Algonquin Native American tribe as a way to mark the start of strawberry harvesting, Allure reported. Is it actually pink? Sadly, no, the moon is neither pink nor strawberry-shaped.
“Supermoons happen when the moon’s orbit is closest to Earth, giving off the appearance of a larger and brighter full moon, the Old Farmer’s Almanac said,” USA Today reports.
What they’re saying: According to The Washington Post, supermoons may not be particularly rare, but they don’t happen every month.
For the first time in 18 years, you can see 5 planets aligned.

Elvis Costello & the Imposters at the Rooftop at Pier 17
August 11, 2022
by Everynight Charley Crespo
As Elvis Costello & the Imposters began performing at the Rooftop at Pier 17, the musicians competed for attention as a massive, glowing supermoon rose above the East River and Brooklyn shoreline. The concert commanded more attention as Costello gradually invited on stage several guests – Charlie Sexton, Nicole Atkins, Allan Mayes and Nick Lowe.
