What are your thoughts on the fate of Jiara’s surf trip? I’ve seen some theories that maybe they’ll have gone on the trip before the jump but honestly I’d prefer that that isn’t the case. Like I see them going on the surf trip at the end of the series, like during John B’s final voiceover we see scenes of them surfing together in one of the south places. Also we know that they work great when they’re removed from the obx and all the baggage they both have there and I’d love to see them work through that together in the next season and really support each other (and especially JJ to support Kie emotionally since she did that for him so much last season) Just curious what you think because I love reading your theories!

I love both of these options tbh!! Like, I'd love to watch their relationship develop through the surf trip -- because I feel like the only way those two are gonna be able to talk about their feelings is like, if they're THOROUGHLY distracted by other things that are NOT life-or-death. I ALSO want JJ supporting Kie, and I feel like Kie would only be vulnerable at points where the conversation is isolated and compartmentalized, like in the car, or waiting on a swell -- where she doesn't have to look at the other person, and the conversation drifting off into silence isn't unprecedented or awkward.

I would LOVE to see them sitting out on their boards, floating up and down, and Kie kinda brings up shit with her parents, and JJ just sorta... straightens up, and you watch him tune into her, and keep his eyes on her as she talks, and then just like... being there. And reassuring her that her parents are batshit and it has nothing to do with her worth, and that it's Not Her Fault. And then just to have an eye contact/smile and a lil '...yeah.'

on the OTHER hand, The Surf Trip is like, The Ultimate, yknow? and I dunno if they'd jump straight on the surf trip after el dorado, because they wouldn't want to chase that dream unless things were Perfect (TM), so I would ALSO love to see their Ultimate Dream Come True as their ending.
