Good times painting a Woonona Beach scene themed mural at Woonona Public School, my second last mural project before the Sydney lock down started.⁣ ⁣ Thanks to the Emma and the Woonona PS crew for such a sweet brief and for the good vibes. ⁣ ⁣ The story of Woonona Beach⁣ ⁣ Once there was a beach called Woonona Beach and there was a bunch of grouse animals that lived at it. There was Larry the Lorrikeet and Sunny the Sun and Karl and Kim the Koala's and Sean the Seal and Shamus the Seagull.⁣ ⁣ They were all best buds and would go surfing everyday and get sweet tubes and stuff. Sometimes when the surf was flat they would go snorkelling down to a secret cave under the sea that Sean discovered. The surfer 🏄‍♀️ Another character designed for the cities of The Hague and Scheveningen in collaboration with @best_design_theprojects . The task was to depict it as a young half blood girl, and to restrict the colours to their own branded colour palette. You can spot her in banners, floor stickers, posters, etc. as part of their campaign to inform and guide citizens and visitors on the basic measures against coronavirus such as keeping 1.5 m distance in public spaces. Light is my new obsession. ✨👌🏼 How it sparkles under water, diffuses in crashing waves, and casts shadows on the body. This composition portrays all 3, which resulted in a variety of texture that was pretty challenging to execute. This painting changed A LOT over the past couple weeks. I didn’t know what I was doing most of the time and I just kinda hoped to figure it out along the way. This was especially true for the surfer. I painted her from memory and understanding of body proportions and muscle movement.
