'Cossack Dmitry Sokol' was painted in 1893 by Russian Federation painter Vasily Surikov (1848-1916) who was born into a Cossack family. One of the stranger modern tributes to Surikov is a crater on Mercury being named after him.

Igor Sakharov is a contemporary Russian artist and teacher. Igor studied at the Crimean Art School, where he went through the school of impressionism. In Moscow, at the Surikov Institute, Igor adopted the Russian academic tradition. Sakharov, sees the meaning of his life in introducing adults to the joy of fine art. Having traveled a long creative path (he painted three Orthodox churches, made hundreds of portraits, more than a thousand landscape paintings), he shares the secrets of the craft of painting with a wide audience of students and simply curious people.

Vladimir Nikolaevich Nemukhin (1925-2016) - artist, representative of unofficial art, one of the classics of the second wave of the Russian avant-garde. In 1943-1946 he studied at the Moscow art studio of the All-TsPS with Peter Sokolov. In the fifties, he earned a living as a designer, decorator and poster artist. In 1957 he entered the Moscow State Art Institute. V.I. Surikov (soon he was expelled for disagreement with the principles of socialist realism). Since 1965 he has participated in foreign exhibitions (USA, Poland, Italy, France). Member of the Lianozovskaya Group. He actively participated in private apartment and public exhibitions of avant-garde art, including the "bulldozer exhibition" (1974). Honorary member of the Russian Federation (2008).
