Seeing a lot of discussions about the interview with Richie Surrency that dropped today on “Gonst FM: Off Air”
Tumblr media
Context is important. Richie at no point said “Ghost Tour confirmed for November!” He said he was asked if he was “Available for Ghost in November” he used the word “hopefully” repeatedly.
Nothing is confirmed and Richie ain’t gettin’ fired. Listen to the interview for yourselves.

The Real Georgia Surrency Ghost Story
Georgia is a beautiful state in the Southern East Coast of the United States of America. It is probably most famous for its sweet, succulent peaches. But there is another side to Georgia that not many people know about, or maybe they do know but they don’t like to admit it. The state is outrageously haunted. Savannah is known to be littered with paranormal activity. Many say that once you visit Savannah, you will always want to return, as if something beyond the grave is calling and entrancing you.
One of the most frightening ghost stories from this state is a true story. It scared me even more than the famous Bell Witch haunting. It is called the Surrency Ghosts and it gets its title from its setting in the town of Surrency, GA and from the family involved, for whom the town was named.
We go back to the 1800s. Before Surrency was established, there was a family who owned a farm on the edge of the town. That family was known as the Surrencys and they were a pretty normal family for the time; however, they did tend to have a little more wealth than many others in the area. Mr. Surrency owned one farm in Surrency and another home in a different town. But their Surrency home and farm were the ones that they loved.
Unfortunately, things at their beloved home took a turn for the worse. Very unexpectedly, too. Weird things started happening around their house, including windows slamming shut and flying open right in front of their very eyes without any explanations whatsoever. Doors would also slam shut and then open without any explanations. But these were soon to be a mild occurrences compared to the horrors to come.
Frightening things started to happen around their house, including objects constantly flying off of shelves. The trusty old clock began to strike thirteen and the hands would unexpectedly spin wildly out of control. Evil red eyes appeared on their property around the house at night, and meal after meal would be thrown into their very laps at the dinner table. It was as if there were dozens of ghosts in their home that had it out for them—revenge for some unknown and unseen reason.
The family began losing sleep and not eating because of the torment. One source actually mentions that the ghosts would twist or break the family’s forks or utensils while the family members were holding them.
While this story may seem elaborate or exagerrated, it was witnessed by hundreds of people from all over the world. The ghosts became almost a tourist attraction, attracting scientists, researchers, spiritualists, mediums, and religious officials from all over. One theory was that Mr. Surrency himself was “in league with the devil,” which seemed to explain to the town the strange and frightening occurrences. However, another theory—one which I believe might have been the real case—was put forth by a medium that stayed in the house. They concluded that the entire Surrency family, specifically the young girl, were very psychic people and that perhaps the spirits or ghosts were just trying to get help. The family couldn’t help, as they didn’t know how. This obviously angered the spirits even more.
As time wore on, the ghosts became more and more outrageous and violent. They targeted the little girl with the most violent of attacks, including pulling her hair, snatching the blankets from her bed at night, lifting her right out of her own bed, and turning her bed sideways with a slam. This was the last straw. The family finally decided to move from the Surrency farm. But the day that they decided to move, there was a life-threatening attack on one of the boys. An andiron was literally lifted from the fireplace, floated down the hallway, and struck the boy on the head numerous times, while his brother watched and tried to help. Then the andiron returned to its place in the fireplace without a sound, leaving the little boy bleeding and helpless on the hallway floor.
The Surrency family ended up moving. They still experienced hauntings, but not as bad as on the farm. The house actually ended up burning down in 1925, having been abandoned for years. The locals would still visit and there were even train rides to attract tourists to the area. Dozens of books were written on the haunting, most being forgotten about now.
Strangely enough, the famous Surrency ghosts in the tale above are not the only haunting that has plagued the town. Another plagues the traintracks that run through the town. It is known as the Surrency Spooklight.
A yellow ball of light seems to appear over the train tracks every once in awhile. It has appeared since the early twentieth century and continues to present day. Apparently if you approach the Surrency spooklight, it tends to vanish, as one might expect. Theories circulate as to what this mysterious spooklight could be, but none has been proven yet. Could this spooklight be leftover from the ghosts that resided in this small town in the late nineteenth century? Or is it something altogether different?

Looking for Love
The story of the Surrency ghost has mutated over the years, but currently it is claimed that a century or more ago, a couple lived on U.S. 341, near the village of Surrency in Appling County. Their home was situated next to railroad tracks, and after a vicious argument the wife ran crying from the house and onto the rails, where a locomotive instantly transported her to the next realm. Today locals claim to see the figure of the wife, with long black hair, walking the tracks in the moonlight. A ghost light that appears, usually at a railroad overpass on the highway, is said to be the lantern of the grieving husband as he searches for his lost love.

Brighten the World with What You've Got
Brighten the World with What You’ve Got
Yesterday, in my blog, I encouraged us all to brighten our little corners of the world. In other words – to bloom where we are planted, to shine in spite of clouds, reach the one God puts in our pathway, to let our little lights shine for Jesus. And, hopefully, we are all brightening our world from our corners! While I was doing “my thing” to be one of Christ’s little lights, apparently, so was…

Ramblings of an Old Soldier Part 1/?
The young Unkall child approached the scruffy looking Terran sitting outside the library reading from a data tablet.
“Hey, you’re a Terran, aren’t you”
“Sure am, kid.“
“I have a report on Terran history, do you know any good events I could use?”
“Maybe, but you’d just be listening to an old soldier ranting about the things he’s seen.”
“I wouldn’t mind listening if you have the time to talk, sir.”
“Alright then, I’ll tell you the story from my most important battle in the Terran-Vrumoid war.”
“Would you mind if I record it? I might need to go back over some details once I get to writing my paper.”
“Not at all kid, now sit back and get comfy, ‘cause this story’s a long one.”
“This story comes from a time when hope was lost. When the Vrumoids threatened to wipe out humanity, as impossible as that seems now. It was over 20 cycles ago that humanity was pushed back to their home system. Everyone knew that the crafty Terrans would become even more determined now, and so the Vrumoids sent the largest fleet they had ever assembled. Unfortunately for them, they had never truly seen humanity at its darkest times, and simply expected the Terrans to be a bit stronger. They were wrong.”
“The Vrumoids had studied the task ahead of them well, and were considering places to launch their first strike on the Terran home system. Europa held no direct strategic importance, it could simply be blockaded. Venus and Mercury would prove too difficult, as the fleet would have to pass beyond Terra itself to even get in striking distance. Uranus and its moons were too sparsely populated to mount an effective civilian resistance, and held nothing but a communications pose which could be simply destroyed with an orbital strike. Eventually, the Vrumoid armada settled on Mars. It had a decent military presence, as well as a significant civilian population. An attack there would surely force the Terrans to surrencer. The planet was well terraformed, and would prove to be a fine colony to the ever growing empire.”
“Unfortunately for them however, they were not fast enough to block the warnings from Uranus, and the people knew what lay ahead. All children and anyone who would not fight if need be was evacuated to Terra. Those who could manned the dense turrets or took to the skies, those who couldn’t prepared the planet for total war. The final preparations made was the commandeering of all PA and speaker systems on the planet to be controlled from the central command bunker hundreds of meters under the ground. With that completed, the bunker doors were sealed from the inside, and reinforced with sandbags and debris at every doorway. Mars was as prepared as it could be.”
“When the Vrumoid armada entered orbit, they were immediately set upon by ships of all sizes; bombers, fighters, interceptors, frigates, light cruisers, and even civilian ships, filled with boarding parties hoping to enter through a gash in a Vrumoid ship. Though ultimately a failure at destroying the fleet, those brave souls accomplished their task, and forced their enemy to descend on to the surface. The fighting was fierce. Farmers mined their fields, factory workers planted explosive charges on their warehouses, and each city had to be taken building by building, room by room. This was not a matter of win or lose, the Terrans had already known that victory was not likely. This was to make the Vrumoids pay for every inch of ground with blood, and lots of it.”
“For the first two months, the battle seemed to be a stalemate, until a clever group of Vrumoid engineers figured out how to remove some of the smaller guns from their ships and mount them to vehicles. Then the tide began to shift. First one city fell, then another, and another after that. Seeing no more need to keep their ships docked on the planet, the fleet command pulled their ships into orbit once more.”
“Eventually, the Terrans had but one stronghold left; the citadel of steel. A massive structure with anti-aircraft High Energy Laser cannons mounted atop it, and guns at every possible avenue of approach. As the now aptly named “Terra’s Doom” cannons were brought to bear on the fortress, the planet suddenly came alive. All across the planet, a single voice could be heard.”
“People of Mars. The enemy has pushed us back to the final bastion of safety on this planet. We are now forced to show our hand. Strike fierce brothers and sinister. Fight for your species, for your friends, for your family. Fight with no mercy, no respite, and no weakness. Now is our chance to show them one last display of what it means to be human. Let the sound of glorious battle fill your hearts, and don’t let our enemies rest for even a second.”
“With that, suddenly, deafening music poured across the planet. It was simple, composed of only a few instruments and played by those of talent among the commanders who were of best use at the command screen rather than on the front lines, but with each power filled note, a city on the planet came to life, from the buildings where the Vrumoid army had not bothered to check the dead, or not bothered to search every building. In but a few measures, the Vrumoid fleet command was in awe, as all across the planet, thousands of units went silent. Finally, the song ended, and Fleet command breathed a sigh of relief, but as quickly as the last song ended, another soon started.”
“Brothers, sisters, friends one and all”
“Come, gather round, and heed my call”
“Our foes draw closer, but hope is not lost”
“We’ll hold this red rock no matter the cost” “They think themselves mighty, they think themselves strong”
“But they’ll not be thinking that way for too long”
“For our people have rallied, together we fight”
“And we will not softly fade into the night” “For our cities may fall, and our walls they may rend”
“But my friends we are very far off from the end.”
“With those words echoing in their hearts, the doors of the citadel fell into their emergency holds, dropping out of the way. Thousands of Terrans, on vehicles from armored transports and tanks, to motorcycles charged the last Vrumoid battalion on the planet. The charging Terrans all knew that this was their chance. This was their final opportunity to make the Vrumoids regret ever attacking humanity. The stampede split neatly into two, surrounding the Vrumoid soldiers. No matter how many they picked off from the horde, it was not enough.”
“The first to strike were the armored vehicles designed for military use. Though they could not hope to penetrate the thick armor of their opponents, they targeted their wheels and treads, forcing the Vrumoids to simply sit and wait for what was to come, though they wouldn't have to wait very long. The riders broke off from the circling swarm, and after forming a smaller circle inside the perimeter, charged in a single line straight towards the three Terra’s Doom tanks. As the riders drew closer, the Vrumoids could clearly see that these riders were charging them with what appeared to be nothing more than simple spears. It wasn’t until the first rider drew near and the tank shook did the crew inside realise that they were doomed. Those were not spears, they were pole mines, and each one was slowly but surely chipping away at a piece of their hull.”
“The riders then finished their assault, and retreated back to the safety of the horde, which then quickly dispersed. Thinking this to be the end of the attack, the crew laughed. One of them got out of their Terra’s Doom and looked at the citadel, before quickly scuttling back inside. From the gate of the citadel came a loud rumbling. When the others looked to see what frightened their comrade, they all panicked. Four large tanks came from the gates, carrying on top of them the HEL cannons formerly mounted on top of the citadel. One by one, the HEL cannons powered up, and one by one, the Terra’s Doom tanks were destroyed.”
“Shocked by how quickly what was shaping up to be a pyrrhic victory became an even costlier defeat, the remaining Vrumoid fleet jumped the system and headed home. And that was how the war shifted, from a simple matter of planting a small fleet on a planet and killing anyone who resisted, to getting as far away from Terrans as the Vrumoids could manage.”
“Well, I think I’ve talked enough for one day. See if you can get what you need out of what I’ve said. If you can’t then just come on by the same time tomorrow, I usually come out here to relax and read the news from home.”
“Thanks for helping me out mister.”
“Don’t worry about it kid, be safe.”
With that, the Unkall child went home to begin his work.

The Surrency haunting.
The Surrencys loved their home, they loved their farm, and most of all they loved each other until things took a turn.
Pretty much out of the blue, random things began to happen around the house—windows slamming shut and flying open right in front of them, doors slamming violently without warning or action.
Things quickly grew worse as objects constantly flew off of shelves, their old clock would only strike 13 with the hands wildly spinning around.
Every meal the Surrencys ate at their table, would end up in their laps, thrown across the room at the walls, or on the floor. Their utensils weren’t even safe, bending or twisting by an unknown force while in their hands.
At nights, the Surrencys would see pairs of evil, beady red eyes around their property, as if they were being watched each and every time the sun went down.
The family grew weary, losing sleep and no longer eating because of the continuous violence and torment.
There were many theories. One included the idea that Mr. Surrency worshiped the devil, another suggested that the Surrency family were strongly psychic and the ghosts were simply trying to receive help. Since the family couldn’t help, the ghosts just became more and more enraged.
Eventually, the ghosts became more violent, specifically targeting the youngest girl in the house.
They would take her blankets in the middle of the night, lift her out of bed when she was sleeping, painfully pull her hair at random times, and flip her bed over sideways.
The Surrency family decided enough was enough, and they would leave their beloved farm, however, the ghosts had different plans on that fateful day.
The day their decision was made to move, a fireplace poker was lifted out of its resting place, floated down the hallway, and struck one of the boys on the head repeatedly. The younger brother helplessly watched, as the poker retreated back it its original place.
Soon after that incident, the Surrency family moved and as for the haunted ghost vortex they once called home, it ended up burning down in 1925, after being abandoned for years.

The Surrency Haunting
In the early 1870s, a Georgia family was at the center of a whirlwind of bizarre and sometimes violet poltergeist activity
“That place was possessed by something evil.”
That was the opinion of Herschel Tillman when he recalled his many visits to the home of Allen Powel Surrency when he was a boy in the early 1870s. He was just one of the thousands of witnesses to the strange and sometimes violent paranormal activity that plagued the Surrency home, making it one of the most well-known and witnessed cases of this kind in American history.
Allen Powel Surrency, a saw mill operator, was the founder of the small town of Surrency in southeastern Georgia. When returning home from a trip to Hazelhurst in October, 1872, he found his house beset with the haunting. In a letter he wrote to the Savannah Morning News he said:
A few minutes after my arrival I saw the glass tumblers begin to slide off the slab and the crockery to fall upon the floor and break. The books began to tumble from their shelves to the floor, while brickbats, billets of wood, smoothing irons, biscuits, potatoes, tin pans, water buckets, pitchers, etc., began to fall in different parts of my house. There have been many other strange occurrences about my house. These facts can be established by 75 or 100 witnesses.
On the face of it, it sounds as if Surrency’s house might have suffered an earthquake. In fact, that theory has been offered to explain the phenomena at the house. But that explanation does not hold up to scrutiny: the strange activity lasted weeks, even years off and on; the Surrency house was the only one affected; and an earthquake could not explain all of the bizarre phenomena described below.
And although the Surrency phenomena is usually referred to as a haunting and was attributed by witnesses to ghosts, the case actually has the earmarks of poltergeist activity, which is a psychic phenomenon rather than one that is caused by a residual or intelligent haunting. In fact, there seem to have been no reports of an apparition at Surrency.
Most poltergeist cases center around an “agent,” usually a female of the age of puberty. At the time, the Surrency family had eight children ranging in age from 3 to 21.
News of this “haunting” spread like wildfire, and soon Surrency was the center of a media frenzy. Reporters and curiosity seekers from all over the country (and even England and Canada) descended on the little town in hopes of seeing the activity first-hand. Few were disappointed.
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY
Like the famous Bell Witch case, the poltergeist activity at the Surrency house was extreme and divers. Here are just some of the reported phenomena:
Unexplained screams were heard
Voices came from an empty bedroom
Plates, platters and books flew from their shelves
Ink bottles leap off a table
Doors opened and closed by unseen hands
The hands of clocks spun fast and even moved backward; a chime clock struck 13
Hot bricks fell from nowhere and landed on the roof and in the yard
A pair of boots trod across the floor on their own
At mealtimes, objects on the dinner table would “dance” around
Logs rolled out of the fireplace
Several hogs and chickens appeared in the living room, seemingly from nowhere, frightening one reporter out of his wits
Bedcovers rolled up and down at night
In an effort to rid his house and family of the terrifying activity, Surrency sought the help of the clergy, scientists as well as spirit mediums and psychics – all to no avail. Even after the house burned down in 1925, the activity followed the family to their new home on the other side of the county.
It wasn’t until Allen Surrency’s death in 1877, it is said, that the haunting finally stopped. Some, however, say it continues to this day around the town of Surrency. In fact, there is a famous ghost light there – a bright yellow ball of light that appears along the railroad tracks.

America's Enigma Lighting
While investigating a book on paranormal sensations, I have been astonished at the variety of "Ghost lights," "Spook lights," or "Secret lights" that occur throughout the nation. A lot of these lights take place near railroad tracks. Lots of have tales affixed to them worrying designers or train travelers who were associated with a horrible accident in which they were decapitated, and the lights are usually flashlights or lights with which the ghosts are looking for to locate their heads. Whatever the description, it's impressive the number of there are. In Arkansas, one light takes place near an old railway track near Crossett. It has actually been seen by many individuals given that the early 1900's. It is seen as a creepy red, white, amber, or blue light concerning head high. The Gurden Lights are much more renowned Arkansas lights, occurring in this town about 75 miles from Little Rock. Both the Crossett and Gurden lights have the railroad decapitation legend connected to them. In Silver City, Colorado, there is a variant on the style. The mystery lights right here are seen in the old Silver City cemetery. They are normally blue-white and regarding the dimension of a silver buck, and appear in teams of two or three. Georgia is house to the Surrency light. Surrency is a very small town near Macon. This bright yellow sphere of light has actually been seen near the railway tracks considering that the early 1900's. Science may have located an explanation for it in an unusual swimming pool of liquid that has actually been located much underground under Surrency. However the liquid itself is a puzzle, as fluid is not expected to be able to create nine miles underground, where seismic equipment seems to show this liquid lies! http://www.netipedia.com/index.php/Psychokinesis The Paulding light occurs near Watersmeet, Michigan, outside of Paulding. It has been observed for at the very least the last forty years, and this is one of the many lights that is attached to the story of a railroad brakeman that shed his life and now strays the roadway with his light. Given that the lights appear to occasionally adhere to the high-voltage line (although they were seen before the high-voltage line were present,) some individuals likewise assert they are the ghost of an Indian dance on the lines. The lights show up as circles of red, blue, white, as well as green, and also are apparent almost every clear evening. Although Ripley's Believe It or otherwise when offered $100,000 to anybody who can offer an option to the lights, no rational scientific explanation has yet been located, as well as the lights stay a secret.
