Countryside Colors Norbury Park, Surrey UK oct 2023 Walking around this beautiful vast park, immersed in the famous outstanding Surrey Hills, we spotted this perfect corner for a picture. It represents some of the classic countryside English features like the red rooftop of a cottage, a bright green fance and the beautiful contrast of white clouds on a vivid blue sky. https://www.surreywildlifetrust.org/nature-reserves/norbury-park

Accessible Locations in the Surrey Hills
Introduction
The Surrey Hills offer some of south-east England’s most beautiful and accessible countryside. The hills were one of the first landscapes in the country to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in 1958.
While known for its many walking and cycling trails, there is also a lot to see for less-able visitors as well, with many of the locations on this list having accessible viewpoints, cafés and discovery centres.

October is a month when Blossomforth goes to look at ghost signs!
Ghost signs (or ghost adverts) are old signs, often hand painted, on buildings. The products they are advertising often don’t exist any more.
This ghost dairy sign is in Hampton Hill, in Surrey, England.

Nine of my favourite landscape and fungi photos I took in September 2023 of; Bushy Park, Thursley in Surrey, RSPB Minsmere in Suffolk, Keyhaven in Hampshire, Farlington Marshes in Hampshire, Old Winchester Hill in the South Downs, Lakeside Country Park in Hampshire, devil's fingers at Bolton's Bench in the New Forest and common puffballs on Brownsea Island, Dorset. It was a pleasure to take in many stunning and very varied vistas this month from woodland to coast in some great bits of weather, with the sweet September sunlight providing some lovely conditions. I enjoyed moons and sunsets from home this month too. As we progress into autumn it was nice to see some colourful leaves and it was great to see more fungi about. My last post featured some of my key wildlife photos and moments this month.

Denbies Hillside
Tumblr media
Location
Denbies Hillside is a part of the Surrey Hills, located just 4 miles from Box Hill. This location tends to be less busy than other notable parts of the Surrey Hills, such as Newlands Corner or Reigate. There is a small car park and the Café La Creme coffee van, which sells great coffee, cakes, pasties and sausage rolls. There's also a seating area next to the car park, and short walk to a near by bench with views of the surrounding countryside.
Parking
The car park is just off Ranmore Common Road, and has around 50 spaces.
Pay and display:
£1.50 per hour for the first 2 hours
£4 for up-to 4 hours
£6 for 5 hours and above
Paybyphone - area code 803454 (0330 060 4037)
National Trust members can scan their membership card for a free ticket.
Visitors with a blue badge can park for free.
Accessibility
Denbies Hillside is an ideal place to stop for lunch or a picnic if you struggle to walk long distances, with lunch tables right next to the car park. To access the lunch area, you open a gate and walk around 30 metres; this area would not be suitable for standard wheelchairs as the ground is bumpy and can be muddy after rain.

Conclusion
With the lunch area right next to the car park, Denbies Hillside is a great place to stop for lunch or a picnic. Its peaceful scenery and great views make it an ideal location to visit if you struggle to walk long distances.
