Two circular photo-based mixed-media pieces, mounted on 6 inch diameter, 1 inch thick stained plywood. A combination of sensitized liquid emulsion, cyanotype, print toner and shellac. A loose commentary on surveillance and the legal system, these pieces can be mounted on the wall or viewed on a flat surface. #socialcommentaryart #survailance #collage #art #alternativeprocess #alternativeprocessphotography #mixedmedia #photographicarts #cyanotype #vandykebrownprint #liquidlight #altprocessphotography #artistsoninstagram #newenglandartist #americanartist #bostonartist (at Stephen Sheffield Photography & Fine Art) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cocapvmuaaf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I think a thing that's interesting about the new format is that it changes completly the dinamic of the fake stories.
In TMA the fake statements are a light hearted idea perfect for fluffy and funny fics and to smille imagining because all the statements are consensual. People go to the Magnus Institute to leave their stories. And yeah it's terrifying that Jonah created a system that is based on the explotation of desperated people wanting to be listened but it was a thing to think on the real ones. The fake ones could be jokes, pranks, people lying because they thought the institute payed for stories, myths. It's all alright.
But now in Protocol is all survailance. An eldrish database watching you. Your texts, e-mails and even your therapy sessions. Sam asks about it first time. Is all non consensual. Even the non-real ones. So you might be home alone at night and be scared by the normal background noise and text a friend about it, about your imagination creating horrible scenarios. And now you not only fed The Horrors a little bit but also some tired goverment agent has to read it and turn it into papperwork.
It fo me also translates into how in TMA the characthers from the start were already aware of the tapes. Not of what they were but at least they knew they were being recorded. In TMAGP they don't seem to notice the cameras or Sam's phone making a random call to store it, or any of the ways they are being watched constantly.

Corruption coded life anecdote
Saw the coolest moth on the train home today. Big black moth of the night!! Fluffy creature with huge and illustrious wings. It was trying to get free and it was frantically flying towards other people. People would stamp their feet and try to knock it to the ground. A man made far too much effort to injure the beautiful thing dead.
In that moment I found I was overcome with anger for it. How dare these terrible people of grease and grime and judgement and slaughter harm it so. It was so beautiful and meant them no harm at all. It wanted help. It just wanted to fly off the train. In what was perhaps not my proudest moment I called the man a callous asshole under my breath. Now, I wear a mask and the train was loud so I perhaps got a little too confident with the idea that he wouldn't hear me and he just looked at me with an expression that was a mix of offense, confusion, surprise and that look between disgust and pity that neurotypical people give anyone who's visibly mentally ill and then he sat back down.
It wasn't a big thing, the moth flew out of the door at the next stop but I kept thinking about my reaction to the people in the train with me. I thought maybe I developed that response later but I thought back to my childhood and realised I always seemed to see much more beauty in things people cast aside or simply brushed off because I saw myself in them. I was not given the help I was in dire need of as a child and was often seen as unwanted or something to get rid of by my peers. This feeling only grew after I transitioned although I started to own it. I have inadvertently become that sentimental prick who lets dandelions grow and doesn't fear mice or moths or mold and feeds stray cats and dogs and hangs around in abandoned and overgrown buildings. Just trying to help things survive really. Maybe as some form of making up for things or just some lingering sense of neglect. Who designated me as the protector of all things considered weeds?
Kinda corruption coded of me honestly.

For my friends annoyed by forever being on camera.
IR filters are a thing.
YMMV.
for those that require it to make use of this:
youtube
Set of basic but thorough tutorials for background on the maths you need to know to do DC electronics well:
https://www.electronics-tutorials.ws/category/dccircuits
^ That link is fairly complete textually. That site does have "Premium" content but once you have the vocabulary, you don't need the premium content to hunt down what you're after.
good shout, with a listing of states and the legality of red-light camera blocking of license plates:
If you lack confidence to begin your journey into circuit design and construction, I suggest putting Iggy on repeat:

major win for ableism AND racism in washington dc last week as legislators vote to reinstate dc's longstanding pre-covid ban on wearing face masks (and hoods) in public spaces, a law which will no doubt be selectively enforced (by cops AND racist store owners) to accost any bipoc who are still taking the health of themselves, their loved ones, and their communities seriously 🙃

Idea for a “Simic Faction Ability”, for a faction of Shamans/Seers/Druids who get power by smoking special hallucinogenic plants, grown from soil enriched with rotted monster carrion.
The “God-Touched Minds”, their faction name, seers who try to prevent disasters by getting really high and touching the times-stream.
For Mechanic, they get “Dream Sprouts”, a 0/1 green/blue plant token that can be tapped/sacrificed for a Survail 1, with cards they have with their faction generating the Sprouts, and caring about Survail.

The other day I had a conversation with my mom and she started ragging on China, per usual. When I tried to say that I don’t think China is any worse than we are, she said “but they steal!” in relation to proprietary/intellectual property and I can’t stop thinking about it.
You know why 3 separate people invented calculus at the same time? At that time, being a mathematician was an extremely competitive job and you only got the job if you were the best one around. So, mathematicians hid all of their most complex works from each other in an attempt to retain their positions and superiority. Thus, we got calculus with extra notation styles.
Calculus, arguably one of the most foundational maths in the functioning of the ever more complex world we’re building, was stunted because men didn’t want to share intellectual property. Calculus. We teach it in high schools. We could’ve had it sooner. We could have gone further into math and developed technologies faster if we worked together but the mathematicians livelihood was at stake.
So now, looking at China “stealing” our ideas, through tech or even just retail knock off and designs, feels ludicrous. We’re still living in the us vs them dichotomy and it’s fueled by the capitalist system.
If you are a capitalist and you want to make as much money as possible off your idea, you have a lot of incentive to keep that secret to decrease competition in the market. In the US we have many many copyright, proprietary, and intelectual property laws to protect just that. BUT if we get rid of it, there would be an influx of knock off products, for example. Some capitalists will wine about how hard it is to sell their product, others, the ones I would consider smart, will make their products better to be worth buying. It would incentivize more competition, increase the quality of products for consumers, and lower prices.
Then, because all human intellect and creation is open source, we could develop as a species far quicker. We have everyones idea to build off of, billions of people with completely different interests could make billions of improvements to every corner of our global society. We could work together, human kind, to build a better world. We could even actually get something done about climate change.
The problem with these laws is not only that they hinder growth but they aggregate wealth through the legal destruction of legitimate competition. If we’re really going to stay in capitalism, wouldn’t a true free market encourage increased competition? Do we not all hate the increasing prevalence of monopolies? Does the independent business owner not resent the chains for their leg up in brand recognition and pricing?
China making products similar to ours is not stealing, it’s market competition, and the monopolists hate it. We’re not better for our idea-theft laws, we’re hindering our own development.

I understand u guys questioning what Léa's intention is, or her morality. What i dont understand is everyone focousing on the messenger and not the message.
I could get nerdy into this and say yall are using ad hominem, but i wont.
Firstly, its important to note how the admins were being held onto an NDA that, apparently, isn't even valid. It's, as far as we know, the only type of paper the employees signed and it isnt even valid.
How does an advanced law student not know how to make a valid NDA?
And if i'ts ony an NDA, than theres no actual document binding the workers and the company. Theres also no legal document laying out what's expected from the company and the workers. Including working regimé and salary. They were working without, legally, being binded to the company.
Secondly, they had to pull of the entirety of the Prision Event in five days. Five days. They did not sleep at the night before Prision's ending because Quackity demanded them to change everything. This sentiment ─ of having to work for many hours and everything being made last minute ─ is a sentiment all ex-workers expressed. Another important thing is that they were contracted to do one thing, and on the end had to take on many many other positions.
The isolation, forbidding and actively making it impossible for the workers to talk among themselves, and especially about payment, is textbook workplace abuse practice. What was QS's intention with this? Making it so they couldn't talk about their situation, so they wouldn't learn about how other workers were being treated differently? So they wouldn't quesion?
Something that just shows more of how abusive the QS's higher up team is was the surveillance and privacy breach. They asked Léa's friends to show their private DM's. Their private conversations. They probably had access to very personal and delicate conversations she had with people that are her friends. And survailling the worker's personal accounts is unfathomable to me. Even more considering how they weren't even representing the company, since no one knew they were working for QS.
About the xenophobia, Léa asked if she could translate Quackity's statement on the subject onto french. But Quackity Studios said it wasn't QS's business.
I repeat, the blatant xenophobia on QSMP's fandom, wasnt considered QS's business.
Neither were the 2 participants expelled from the project for grooming and physical and psychological abuse. Apparently neither the admins or the audience deserved a statement about these topics.
Still about xenophobia, calling the admins' complaint on Quackity's statement xenophobic is such a bad faith argument. They're not complaining about Quackity speaking spanish, they're complaining they had to learn about the state of the company they work with, and, consequentially, their jobs (QSMP was the only form of income for some people) through a livestream in a language they did not understand, at insane hours.
If he could've used the QSMP translators for a hot tub stream, he could've used them for the statement that affected people's lives.
If all that sounds less important than Léa's maybe questionable morality than u don't fucking care about workplace abuse. Just say you care more about Quackity's image and the QSMP's reputation than about the absolutely horrid conditions the ppl working to provide ententainment for you (most for free) were working under.
Just say it. It'll be honest at least.
