I have to preface this by saying that i have nothing against suki lol

I recently found sukitara (how have i been sleeping in on this) and i love it!

I do have a dilemma tho. I try to write sukitara, but I have nothing to build up on when it comes to Suki. And I've tried looking for meta on tumblr and other places, but all I got was how Suki is a girlboss (which I agree with wholeheartedly). I must say, when I want to write a fic with her as the main character it is hard for me to shape her character arc. How do I know about her flaws and her inner struggles? Yes, she is a warrior, usually associated with masculinity, but she doesn't shy away from her femininity, but I feel like those are ideal traits rather than something pertaining to an individual (I'm sorry if this doesn't make sense, that's the best way I could come up with to explain myself 😅). Like, say if I look at katara herself, I can figure her out and I have solid perception of her, for example, her deep sense of justice fuels her kindness and her rage. There is more to her character than initially portrayed by the creators.

So yeah, I feel like suki is not as developed as the other characters. Is it the fault of my perspective? Or is it actually like that? I genuinely want to know this i don't want to write suki badly :(

So. Here's the problem: Suki isn't a main character. They don't get treated like one either and there is nothing wrong with it. But see what I did there. I used they instead of she. Because its my personal head canon. Suki is nonbinary in my head cs same.

That's the goot thing. The fact that you have a character - their basic traids like helping others, overly loyal and protective, selfless, stubborn, inteligent, enpowering. And you can add onto that.

Why are they selfless? Where did it come from? Is it a problem? How does it help them how does it fire back? Like trowing themselves in dangerous situations if someone they love is threatened. They didn't hesitate to let Appa escape and stay back wjth their warriors (aka selfless, helpful and loyal). You can give them flaws and think of your own reasons for why they r like how they are.

Let's say... They have PTSD from the war - like everyone. But they were also in prison - so give them PTSD from the prison. How do they respond when triggered? Do they curl up on themselves and cry or fo they get defence? Do they play a tuff snack only to end up sobbing in their room at night too scared to show who they really are because pressure ways them down and they don't want to disappoint everyone. Why don't they want to disappoint everyone? You get me? It goes on. Take whatever you want - you can basically take yourself and give them your characteristics.

I see so many people write Zuko or Katara ooc (out of character) while Suki is right there.

Like no. Zuko won't curl up and cry if he gets triggered - he will probably be angry or get defensive.

Ki on the other hand we don't know. So we can do whatever we want. It's just up to you what you want to do with it. That's so cool about having a side character with basically no personality but girlboss.

the  duties  placed  upon  sutara,  as  an  honorary  member  of  the  court,  were  taxing.  thrilled  as  she  was  to  be  trying  to  make  a  difference,  it  still  left  her  overwhelmed  most  of  the  time.  combined  with  the  declining  health  of  her  father,  the  celestial  noxir  was  close  to  losing  it.  she  was  thankful  for  the  acharis  during  this  time.  on  top  of  being  a  great  help  for  her  father’s  health,  having  nirav  around  made  sutara  feel….  normal.  like  herself  again,  not  the  councilwoman  (  only  temporary,  the  elders’  voice  thunder  in  her  head.  )  in  short,  sutara  breathes  easier  now.

the  broken  vase  lays  on  the  floor  between  them,  twin  laughter  having  gradually  died  down.  they  have  spent  the  last  minute  on  a  battle  of  whose  fault  it  was,  neither  wanting  to  take  the  blame  for  the  ruined  relique.  sutara  turns  towards  nirav,  furrowed  brows  and  mouth  open  in  indignant  laughter.    ❝  ah,  both  our  faults,  is  it?  I  don't  recall  having  been  the  one  to  bump  into  it.  ❞    though  she  could  have  been  at  fault  for  a  friendly  little  push.  almond  eyes  look  towards  the  door,  before  returning  to  the  shards  on  the  floor,  head  tilting  to  the  side.    ❝  we  should  find  someone  to  fix  it…  or  hide  it.  ❞

reminder that i am basing this off of ship names i have seen frequently enough to be established and therefore judged. the actual makeup of the ship is irrelevant here.

zutara: 1/10. horrible. should be “katuko”

azutara: 0/10. even worse! should be “katzula”

harutara: 2/10. also not good. should be “kataru”

kataang: 8/10. now there’s a ship name!

sukka: 10/10. very jewish name, i love it

zukka: 5/10. i have no objections to it, but i don’t find it particularly inspiring either

zukki: 5/10. meh. not inspiring. i would’ve gone with “sozuki”

yukka: 6/10. pretty nice. “sue” would be funnier though

taang: 10/10. such a great ship name

tokka: 8/10. apparently this is the name of a teenage mutant ninja turtle character. cool

He’s very perplexed at finding a girl hidden away in a tower instead 🤷🏾‍♀️ who is she? What is she being kept locked up for?

BBC Ghosts spoilers in cut about something I felt, that doesn't matter but I want to talk about

When fanny said "Alison is eating too much foreign food"

But like it's alright. Literally Kiell and Sutara (who actually might know my family, terrifying) were in the room and so it's okay.

Like I know its a joke and was meant to contrast Betty saying Alison shouldn't have coffee but the foreign food Alison's having is presumably Betty cooking... Carribean food... My family's food... In the final episode where I know she is in the wrong but also... Ahh

But i would have wrote line so she says the foreign food and then lists a weird example something absolutely ridiculous. Then went with fishy milk. Its fine though, really I just get the ick that it came out of a beloved character in the final episode of my beloved sitcom.

Shattered Star Chapter 11

"Why are we back in the flower field?" Sundrop asked as he looked around the place where he had first woken up.

"It should be around here somewhere..." Starlight replied as she floated around the field, as though she was looking for something specific.

"So... how many of you girls are there?" Lunar asked.

"Well, there's me, Stella, Twyla, Seren, Sutara, Tara, Soreanna, Lumine, and Cybele. That's nine of us," Starlight replied.

"So... What'll happen if we don't find the other Shards?" Lunar asked.

"Every universe that had a Newton Star will end up collapsing," Starlight replied.

"We were remade by our current Father to keep the multiverse in balance, so without us..." Stella stopped.

"Then most of the universe will be gone..." Sundrop whispered with wide eyes.

"This is all my fault..." Lunar whimpered, "If I hadn't helped Eclipse..."

"This was Eclipse's fault, not yours." Sun said with a sigh. "If you really want to fix this though, you can help." he added as he held out a hand.

Lunar started at Sundrop's hand then back at him.

He slowly smiled and shook Sundrop's hand.

"I'm in, brother!" he said happily.

Sundrop's eyes widened.

"Brother?" he questioned.

"Uh... Yeah... Sorry, I talked to Moony about me becoming your guys' brother. I was trying to talk about it before Eclipse... You know..." Lunar trailed off.

Sundrop blinked in surprise as Lunar continued.

"I was going to say I wasn't going to work with Eclipse anymore. I just kind of delayed it..." Lunar said.

Sundrop gave Lunar a big hug, which made Lunar smile.

The two new brothers then heard a loud humming sound.

They turned to Star and Stella, who shook their heads and pointed to a circular portal with a golden a pale blue rim.

"Finally found one!" Starlight said.

"What is this thing? It looks funky!" Lunar asked.

"This is a temporary portal that was made when the negative energy from the Rimsiers converted back into positive energy. It wants us to go to the next universe. We'll need to find the other shards and your siblings. Maybe some other residents of your universe who somehow survived," Stella said.

The two goddesses went back into their respective shards.

Lunar and Sun held each other's hands as they took a step through the portal.
